You’re Mine Pt.4
I’m in my era where I can produce 2-3 fics a day but I lose motivation within a week 😭 anyway, sorry for the long wait! As you all know there are Yandere themes such as mentions of drugging, murder, drinking and other themes that are not suited for minors or people that can’t handle this. You have been warned! (This fix is not prof read)
part 1 part 2 part 3
Tumblr media
The worst thing about this job was the aftermath of missions. The one thing y/n didn’t like was having to stay in one place after getting shot. The darker toned woman sat down, her leg throbbing. She was just thankful that it stopped bleeding. Unbeknownst to her, y/n’s captain stood around the corner. Y/n had gone on a solo mission, it was completed with no casualties but she did pay the price by getting shot. Although the bullet went straight through, price knew she wouldn’t be on her feet for a few days, maybe even weeks.
Outside he stood holding a sugary treat. Something y/n had told him she liked on their ‘date’. He fiddled with the packaged candy in his hands. Contemplating on going inside of her room, but just as he decided to do so, he heard y/n’s phone ring.
Looking down at her phone y/n saw her father’s contact name. Without waisting any time she answered it, putting it on speaker so she could changer her bandages. “Hey dad.” Y/n spoke first as she grabbed the roll of bandages and disinfected. “Y/n, sweetie….are you okay?” He asked. His voice sounding worried. Y/n only brushed it off as him being worried because of her wound. Word travels fast within the military.
“Yes dad….the bullet went through my leg. I should be back on my feet in two weeks or so.” The sound of bandages opening filled the silence as her father didn’t say anything in return. After a few moments he finally spoke up.
“No….thats too long. I’ll have one of my men come get you.” He said in almost a rushed tone.
“My wound isn’t that bad. I’m taking care of it and-“
“Not the wound y/n. I want you to stay away from Price.” General l/n spoke over y/n. Like a commander, barking orders at his subordinates. “Dad…Price isn’t that bad. He’s can be a little rough around the edges but he’s not bad.” Y/n said as she finished pouring the disinfectant alcohol over the wound.
“Y/n….Price has been looking into you. He’s stalking you. I want you out of that squad immediately.” Y/n furrowed her eyebrows as she hauled her movements. Sure…it was normal to look into someone. Y/n had looked into Price to see what he’d accomplished to get in the role of a captain but that was it. “Dad….thats normal. Maybe I’ve been late to a meeting or-“
“Stop making excuses for that man….ill tell you what. If I get you stone hard proof, you leave that squad with now argument. Okay?”
Y/n sighed as she wrapped her leg. Making sure not to put it on too tight. “Dad, I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
Y/n paused. She wasn’t sure how he’d react to this. “He’s my soulmate. I found out a while ago and-“
“You don’t think to tell me?” General l/n’s voice was softer this time. He seemed more understanding of the situation. “If I had known I wouldn’t have had made a big fuss.”
“It’s alright. I know you’re only looking out for me.” Y/n replied. As she finished tiring off the bandages.
“I still don’t trust him. My parents were soulmates and my father killed my mother, but you know that already. Don’t drop your guard just because he’s your soulmate.” Y/n’s father started. “Just because he loves you, doesn’t mean he won’t hurt you. Treat him just like any other man you’d come across.”
He was right. Loving someone dosn’t always mean you’re compatible or vise versa. “Okay..”
“Promise me.” General l/n’s voice grew stern.
“I promise.”
“And make sure you carry a gun on your dates.” Y/n’s father advised.
“I already do. No need to remind me.” Y/n said as she rolled her eyes.
“I’m just making sure you’re safe. You’re my only daughter.”
Y/n smiled at that. “I’ll be safe…..” There was a small silence between the two of them until he spoke up. “Alright then. Well I have to get back to work. Don’t cause too much trouble, I love you.”
Y/n laughed as she told him she loved him before he hung up. Sitting in silence, y/n thought about what he said. Even though she brushed it off she couldn’t help but be a bit wary of John.
A knock on her door startled her from her thoughts. Pushing those bad feeling away she called out. “Come in.”
The door opened, revealing John. He was in nothing but a blue shirt and khaki pants. His hand holding up y/n’s favorite sweet treat.
“I…heard you got injured. So I got you this.” He said, holding it up. Y/n’s eyes trailed over to the sweet treat. A grin carved on her face, giving price the green light to step into the room. He closed the door behind him before handing Y/n the sweet treat. Y/n’s fingers wrapped around the packaging. She thanked him with a smile as she tore open the wrapping paper like a child that had just been gifted candy.
“Is the medication working?” Price asked, trying to make small talk as he sat in the chair that was beside Y/n’s bed. He got comfortable in the chair. It was obvious he planned on staying a while.
“Not really.” Y/n said truthfully. “The medicine here dosn’t really work on me.”
John looked at y/n curiously. “Why is that?”
Y/n let out a nervous chuckle, as she leaned back into her pile of pillows that propped her up. “I didn’t grow up in a stable nehiborhood. My parents worked so much that I was sent to live with family members that weren’t so great. I picked up some bad habits if you know what I mean.” Y/n stated. “I’m clean now, but I still have a high tolerance for it.”
John nodded. He didn’t seem disgusted or disappointed. He seemed grateful that y/n told him. “I appreciate you telling me.” He said honestly. Unfortunately for y/n he only appreciated that y/n told him about it so he can up her dosage. If she hadn’t told him then he would have been confused as to why she hadn’t passed out after eating the snack he spiked.

Sore Loser - LN
Summary: Lando’s girlfriend is a gaming streamer and he is obsessed with her. But sometimes jealousy over her male subscribers can get the better of him. Or in other words the war he has with most of her subscribers can get a little out of hand. But he can get pouty, especially when she beats at his own game.
Tumblr media
Lando isn’t sorry to say that he and her are easily a perfect match. Her streaming brings in plenty of money that there’s no element of her using him, she plays games with him, she’s there for every race and they support each other.
He’s been out with some of the boys today though and getting back she’s already started streaming.
“Alright, I’ll play the F1 23 game. But if Lando appears like he’s been summoned by the FIA to not let himself be beat by his girlfriend, then I won’t forgive you guys. He’s played this so much, he’ll beat me purely from having played.” Y/n states as she starts up the F1 game. “Who should I drive as? I can’t be Seb this year.”
“Be me.” Lando speaks up appearing behind her which makes her jump and turn as he leans on the back of the gaming chair. “Sorry, baby.”
“I didn’t know you were coming back so soon.”
“I’ve been gone for like 5 hours, how long did you want me to be gone for?” Lando jokes while she smiles up at him with an expression that she always seems to wear around him. “I’ll be upset if you don’t.”
“You can’t keep using that against me.” Y/n pouts before laugh when he takes her remote and begins picking and choosing her set up. “You better not be setting me up to lose.”
“I’m not. You need to worry on these trust issues.” Lando scoffs while she looks at the camera in a move that only works to be described as from The Office. “I don’t want to date a loser anyway.”
“Wow. Do you guys hear the way he talks to me? This is supposed to be love.” Y/n scoffs then looking at Lando who just looks back at her for a moment then leaning down and kissing her.
“I’m going to shower and leave you to it.” Lando states only just pulling away from the kiss before he kisses her again. “Love you.”
“Love you too.” Y/n smiles before turning to back to her PC while Lando leaves the room. She sighs seeing the chat feed and frowning. “Alright, you guys don’t be talking about my man like that. He treats me so good.”
Her subscribers really hate Lando, mainly because many of them are male and the ones who don’t hate him are fans of Lando’s who defend him without a second thought.
“I’m going to see if I can beat Lando’s fasted lap too. I think I can…I hope I can.” Y/n states then biting her lip as she begins to focus on the race.
She has to try a couple tracks to find one she stands a chance at beating Lando’s record on, but eventually she does it on the Zandvoort track of all circuits she could excel in.
“Ahaha! I did it!” Y/n exclaims jumping up and squealing in excitement as she shoots to stand up, purely out of excitement. “I beat his time! Aha!”
Audio messages from the chat begin to flood her ears. Most of congratulations while Lando appears and grins when she jumps spinning.
“I beat you in Zandvoort!” Y/n beams then sighing as she looks at the chat, clearly something being said in her ears from a subscriber that she doesn’t appreciate.
“What?”
“Nothing. It doesn’t matter. Anyway, I’m gonna do another race because I want to go on the Bahrain track.”
“Can I race with you?”
“Yeah, of course you can but promise you’ll ignore the chat. They’re just jealous about you.”
Lando looks at her with a mildly unimpressed expression since he knows what her chat is like but she also gets a lot of support.
“What track?” Y/n asks making Lando puff out a breath.
“The chat is saying Spa.” Lando states pointing at the chat.
“Spa it is.” Y/n smiles before wavering when she sees the chat flood with comments about how they should drive the Russia track. They can’t because it’s not on the game as an option but it doesn’t stop them. “Fucking trolls.”
Lando doesn’t comment deciding to just focus on the game, he’s going to prove himself. Not that he need to but his ego is getting bruised knowing that these men spend her stream either hitting on her, promising they could be better for her than him or just hating on him with no remorse.
What he doesn’t expect is for his girlfriend to completely destroy him in the race, pulling a Max Verstappen and having built a 20 second gap ahead of him.
“How did you do that?” Lando questions making her shrug innocently then shooting him a smile. “Do you have cheats?”
“No! Of course not. Spa is just my favourite one to play on when I’m not streaming so I have perfected it a bit.” Y/n pouts while the chat goes off about how he’s treating her horribly and that they’d be celebrating her doing so well. “Alright, stream is over guys.”
They both know that they’ll be comments online about this and no doubt they’re going to be all over TikTok and instagram fan accounts with claims that the relationship is on the rocks, but she doesn’t want to keep streaming with the chat being somehow even worse than it is most time.
As soon as the stream is over and her PC has been turned off.
“Hey.” Y/n sighs moving over to Lando and straddling his lap as she throws her leg over him. “You know I don’t listen to the idiots in that chat.”
“I don’t like the way they talk to you, baby.” Lando frowns rubbing her thighs while she smiles sadly then kissing him. “Or about me.”
“I know, neither do I.” Y/n sighs then shifting. “But I’m in your bed every night and they’re just sad men who think they stand a chance if they slander you when we all know they don’t.”
It should comfort him but Lando is a man who likes to make a point.
“Can I post you on my instagram?”
“If it improves your mood, you can post whatever you like of me on there.” Y/n smiles knowing that Lando’s jealous side comes through in a way of needing to show the world exactly who she belongs to and she’d be lying if she said it isn’t a little attractive for him to her. “I still beat you though.”
“Don’t remind me…But I’d beat you on a real track.”
“Yeah, well…you are an F1 driver, if you didn’t that would be incredibly embarrassing given I’ve I’m a terrible driver in real life.” Y/n laughs before running her hand through his hair. “How about you post whatever it is you have in mind and I’ll figure out what the hell we’re eating for dinner?”
“Only…if you promise we can race on the Silverstone track next time I’m here when you stream.”
“Because you know I’ll mess it up.”
“No. I just know I’ll not mess it up.” Lando shrugs in a faux innocence then sucking in a breath as he looks at her monitor. “I love that you game.”
“You’ve said.”
“But I hate when you beat me.”
“As made obvious.” Y/n hums leaning forward and kissing him. “Are you going to be grumpy all day?”
“Yes.” Lando pouts jokingly earning a grin and nod before she gets up and yanks him up after.
-
After a post with a carousel of pictures with y/n ranging from some cute and goofy ones with one of Lando’s hand squishing her face to a wet t-shirt picture that very much shows she’s cold and not wearing a bra at the time. His fans went insane, y/n’s fans actually imploded.
But he felt a hell of a lot better knowing he posted it in a way laying his claim. Y/n is his girlfriend and no matter how many promises strange men make in her chats or how vulgar they are with what they want to do to her, that’s never going to happen if he has a say in it.
“You got me in trouble with my parents.” Y/n states while Lando looks at her with a smirk. “The wet t-shirt?”
“It’s one of my favourite pictures of you.” Lando grins then gently pulling her forward into him. “I got in trouble too. But I’m still not sorry.”
“No, I think that’s the scorpio coming out.” Y/n hums before she’s lifted up onto the physio bed with Lando lifting up the Quadrant hoodie she’s stolen and sighing as he gets sight of her boobs. “Someone could easily come in.”
“You’re my girlfriend let me take advantage of that how I want to.” Lando huffs while she rolls her eyes but suppresses a smile.
“Yeah, enjoy it.” Y/n yawns then leaning back on her hands. “Do you know how many subscribers told me on my last stream that you gave them a new lock screen?”
“Don’t say that, don’t ruin this for me.” Lando groans since there’s no point in deleting the post now, it’s too later and the picture has been up for the better part of a week. “I hate your subscribers.”
“I know…a lot of them hate you too.” Y/n laughs before she jumps a little then his thumbs rub over her nipples. “Don’t start something we both know you don’t have time to finish.”
“Sorry, baby.” Lando grins before leaning forward and kissing her softly. “I do have to go.”
“I know.” Y/n sighs then being kissed again as he tucks her boobs away gently and pulls the hoodie back down.
“I’ll find you later.”
“I’ll be watching. Kick their butts.” Y/n smiles before they take off. “Don’t be a sore loser like when you lost to me!”
“You’re not funny!”
Then he’s gone and she sighs giving herself a few minutes before she heads out to take her spot in the garage to watch her boyfriend do what he does best.

“come on noona! it will be fun! travelling around the world with us and of course jake hyung.” sunoo excitedly exclaims.
you could see the excitement that the other boys had. especially, the boy who had his hands placed on your thighs. “please, baby? take it like another honeymoon until we actually have time for one.” jake pouts.
“oh, yeah. we could walk around and show noona some of the places we’ve been too!” jungwon says.
“I don’t know guys…I feel like I would be intruding. after all, I’m not part of enhypen.”
“but you are part of ‘our family’. besides, you and jake hyung are married!” ni-ki says.
you looked at the other boys for reassurance and they seemed okay with it but you still felt bad. they’d have to get an extra ticket if you came along with them and ENGENEs probably didn’t want to see you in their content.
ever since you and jake got married, there had been quite a lot of death threats sent to you. it was so bad to the point that enhypen’s legal team had to step in on behalf of you. despite having a legal team to help you with any threats, it still didn’t stop. you couldn’t even really leave the house without being recognised in the streets and some ‘engene’ yelling at you for stealing their idol from them.
it definitely didn’t help now that you’re pregnant. which was a surprise for jake (and the boys). this is also why you wanted to stay in Seoul. you couldn’t travel around, not when you’re at your early stages of pregnancy. actually, the obstetrician had already explain to you that you could travel around but you didn't want to take the risk.
“I don’t know, boys…” you say. ni-ki pouts. jake grabs your hand and squeezes.
“something wrong, baby? you usually don’t hesitate on hanging out with us. in fact, don’t you love travelling with us?” jake asks in the softest tone possible.
“I’m fine. I just feel scared…what if the ENGENEs find me annoying? I mean, I always somehow appear in your content and like they are forced to see my face. you know some of them don’t even like me.”
“well, first off. those aren't ENGENEs." jungwon says. "no ENGENE would hate on someone who is close to us or is family to us. besides, even if they are 'ENGENEs', they need to learn that jake hyung is happily married to you."
jake hums at jungwon's words. "you're my wife and they should respect that. i still show as much love to ENGENEs despite being married to you." jake tilts his head. "so, baby. you don't have to worry about a thing. i'll protect you and put you first over ENGENEs if they talk bad about you."
"thanks, babe."
"so why can't you travel with us? there must be another reason right?"
you sighed, "i'll tell you and the boys in a few days. don't worry, it's a really good explanation. i promise i'm not lying or trying to avoid it. i just haven't done something."
"now that's just making me more worried, princess." jake pouts.
"it's nothing bad, i promise. give me like 3 days."
"okay, fine. hmm, but in 3 days we'll be at practice the whole day."
"i know, i'll swing by your break as per usual."
the other boys were just as confused as jake but they just kept quiet.
3 days later
you had gone to HYBE to visit the boys like you usually did. you had brought some food, snacks and box with a balloon tied to it. a little extra thing for jake since you were going to reveal to him about your pregnancy. you had placed the food at the pantry so they could eat there.
you had knocked on their practice room door and popped your head in after you heard a 'come in'.
"i brought some food and snacks! come out before the food becomes cold."
the boys wiped their sweat and went out of the practice room. the coffee table was filled with food and snacks. their jaws dropped.
"did you plan this with the staff or something?"
"a little. it's a little reward for working hard for your tour." you say. jake goes over to peck your lips.
"baby, this is amazing! i married and dated the right woman!" jake exclaims. you laughed.
"what's that?" ni-ki points out the box with a balloon tied to it.
"dessert, eat the food first. it's going to be cold."
and so the boys dig into the food. with schedules being packed and having practices for the whole day lately, they were unable to eat such good food. they were thankful you were there to look after them and feed them well like a mom.
"okay, we're done with the food. i want to open the cake!" ni-ki pouts.
"mmm, how about we have jake open the cake and also cut it in the honour of the start of fate tour!" you say. the boys and jake didn't think much of it so they allowed jake to open and cut the cake.
when jake opens the cake box, he was met with the words "i'm going to be a dad!" and the ultrasound picture stuck to the roof of the box. his jaw drops as he slowly looks up at you. the boys looked over his shoulder as they noticed jake's shocked expression. their jaws dropped quickly after processing the words written on the cake.
"surprise." you shyly say.
"you're- holy shit." jake stands up and hugs you tightly. "i'm going to be a dad!!"
"wait wait. this is a lot to process." jay says. "you two have been fucking while we're all at the dorms..."
"no, that's not the main thing. they didn't use a condom! oh my god, you two are freaky!" sunghoon's face scrunches in disgust.
"we don't do it all the time! it was one time and that was to celebrate the day i proposed to her. i booked a hotel for me and (name) because i respected you guys."
"jake's little swimmers are working hard. just do it once and she gets pregnant?" heeseung says.
"why do you have to say it in the most graphic way in front of the younger ones." you hid your face on jake's chest, clearly embarrassed. not a single words were coming out of the younger members' mouths.
"okay, but can we eat the cake..." ni-ki voices out.
"yes, we can." jake says.
and so after the shock, everyone goes to enjoy the cake that you had brought. they cheered for jake and happily congratulated him. since they were going on tour, jake promised to always call and check up on you whenever he could.
and just before he left, both you and him announced to both of your parents that you were expecting. they all had thrilled faces when they realised that they would be grandparents. throughout the whole tour period, you had stayed with your parents as an advise from jake so that in case something happened, your mom would be around.
you were glad to have someone as caring as jake and you couldn't have asked for a better husband than him.

- The Suit - Leah Williamson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry for being so inactive with my fics, I’ve lit had 0 motivation :(,Anyways here’s a short leah x reader story enjoy!
Warnings - Smut, suggestive stuff mentioned
18+
————————————————————————
“Baby I’m home!”
as soon as you hear her voice , you pull your blanket off your lap and jump off the sofa, running to the front door to finally see your girlfriend. She drops her shopping bags on the floor and opens her arms and you immediately fall into them, inhaling her intoxicating perfume.
“Lee, I missed you baby girl” you mumble into her shoulder, you hear her giggle at your words
“babe I was gone for a couple hours” she laughs running her fingers through your hair.
“Way too long” you complain smiling to yourself. You untangle your arms and help her carry the bags to her bedroom, Leah had told you yesterday that she needed to go shopping for clothes and insisted in letting you relax at home since you had been working hard all week with your studying, she didn’t want you in a shopping mall overflowing with people”
“Did anyone recognise you?” You asked as you placed a bad on your bedroom floor
“ just a couple girls that asked for a pic, but that’s about it” she shrugged , you hummed surprisingly since people usually bombarded your girlfriend asking for pictures and autographs.
After a few minutes you decided to get in the shower while Leah began to put her new clothes away, when you’re done washing your hair you step out and wrap yourself in a warm towel, you change into your pjs and walk into your shared room, and then you see it.
Leah bought a new suit.
a very nice suit.
You walk up to the edge of the bed and feel the fabric between your pointer finger and thumb.
“like it?”
You turn around to face Leah, a smirk plastered across her face.
“Leah, it’s gorgeous” you whisper, she nods and lifts it up by the clothes hanger
“yeah I picked it up for the bbc sports personality of the year awards in a couple months” she says happily, you step closer to her and wrap your arms around her waist.
“I can’t wait to see you in it” you whisper, without disconnecting your eyes. you see her pupils dilate and her cheeks become slightly rosy.
“your gonna have to wait love” she says rubbing her thumb on your hipbone. You pout your lips, you want to see her in it now .
“You’d look so sexy in it” you say pulling on her jogger bottoms, her smile turns even bigger as she realises what you’re trying to do.
“Nuh-uh , you need to be patient baby girl” she shakes her head with a smile, you role your eyes at her smiling, at least you tried.
———————————————————————
a few months go by and your packing up to go to a meeting you have in Spain, you go to the bathroom to get a couple of things to bring with you and you see Leah putting on some mascara.
“Hey baby, where you off to?” You ask her while grabbing a bottle of body wash
“Nah just got the BBC personality of the year awards tonight” she says with a slight smirk.
“That’s tonight?!” You say in shock, Leah looks at you from the mirror and starts laughing at your annoyed expression.
“Yeah baby, I can’t change the date can I?” She says cockily
“but baby, I wanted to see the suit” you whine and wrap your hands around her from behind and rest your chin on her shoulder, she turns her head and places a kiss on your temple.
“I know baby, but I’m sure you’ll see some pics” Leah says, you let out a whine
“But I wanna see you in person” you say, Leah laughs through her nose and closes the mascara and places it on the sink before turning to you and placing her arms around you.
“I promise I’ll make it up to you ok?” She says and presses her lips against yours in a small peck.
“you better” you say sassily
———————————————————————
You arrive to your hotel in Spain, you pull out your keycard to your door and open it, as you walk in you put your suitcase to the side and fall onto the bed, landing on your stomach. You reach to the bedside table and grab the TV remote and switch it on, A random Spanish news channel is on immediately, you quickly start scrolling, trying to look for something to watch.
And then you see it.
the Leah in the fucking suit.
Your eyes go wide as you see a picture of Leah on the right side of the TV and some random Spanish woman talking about the BBC Sports awards on the left, you take your phone out and take a picture of it.
Your pussy pulses at how sexy your girlfriend looks in it, you knew she would look good, but this good, you felt a wave of jealousy as you thought about other girls getting to see your girlfriend dressed that nicely in person.
You then start moving your hand down your clothes body and to the waistband of your trousers, you slowly slip your hands underneath, but still over your underwear, you start rubbing your clit using two fingers, your head falling back and letting out a small moan. You switch your phone on with your left hand and go to your camera role to find the picture of Leah, you rub yourself harder and faster, letting out small whimpers.
You then get an idea in your head, you quickly open the camera app and use the back camera, you angle it so you can clearly see your hand in your pants, and Leah’s picture on the TV blurred out in the back round, and captioned it “You look so sexy baby”. You then go to Leah’s contact and send the picture.
You smile to yourself and continue your movements on your now swollen clit, you then move your hands underneath your underwear, spreading your wetness around your folds.
You cum twice from the picture of Leah then and then fall asleep from the exhaustion of jet lag and from cuming twice because of your incredibly sexy girlfriend.
——————————————————————
Leah’s sat down on her assigned seat as she feels her pocket vibrate, she opens it using Face ID and smiles at the notification named “baby girl 💕” she clicks on it and the smile immediately falls and shock washes over her face.
“Fuck.”

stevie doesn’t know.
Tumblr media
sorry stevie boy.. it had to happen at some point. obviously based on scotty doesn’t know which i have listened to repeatedly while writing this
18+. smut. cheating. eddie is rlly quite mean to poor stevie. no use of y/n!
‎♡‧₊˚
what steve doesn’t know can’t hurt him, right?
that’s what eddie thinks anyway.
it wasn’t ever supposed to continue after you and steve actually became official, you’d made that explicitly clear.
until you’d broken the no-contact rule one night, it must’ve been gone two by the time you had called. not that he’d been sleeping or bothered by that fact. actually, he was impressed you’d held out so long.
‘why’re you calling me?’ he’d asked innocently down the phone, guitar still poised in his lap.
you had just sighed. eddie could picture your face, irritated but standing tall on your stupid, made up rules. he wasn’t going to give you the satisfaction. not yet, anyway.
‘you know..’
‘ah, but i don’t,’ positive you could hear his smirk on the other end.
then came another sigh, ‘please don’t make me beg,’ sounding utterly pathetic, just the way he liked it.
‘but what if i want you to beg?’
‘can i come over?’
‘are you gonna answer my question?’ joint balanced between his lips, not bothered to raise his hand to smoke properly.
there was silence from your end until you huffed in frustration, kissing your teeth before finally giving up, ‘i need to see you.’
‘need to? or want to?’ he liked the tease, liked to mess with you until you had no choice but to crawl right back into his bed, begging for another chance.
‘need to.’
and there you were, stood solemnly outside of his door still in the dress you’d obviously worn on whatever disappointing date steve had dragged you on.
‘come in,’ he simply smirked, holding the door open as you slinked into the trailer, head down in defeat.
the two of you stood staring for a moment, eddie waiting expectantly for an apology or for some half-assed grovelling but it doesn’t come.
he holds his finger to his ear, jutting his bottom lip out, ‘did you wanna..’
‘eddie,’ you warn, your tone giving away how desperate you really are.
‘i just wanna hear you say it,’ he’s not prepared to keep this going much longer, not with his dick twitching in his pants at the mere sight of you.
‘i’m sorry,’ your shoulders slump, tossing your bag onto the couch as inch your way over, ‘is that what you wanna hear? i’m sorry for telling you not to call me, i’m sorry for being a bitch, okay? but i need you eddie.. now,’ fingers walking the length of his upper arms until they rest on his shoulders.
christ, you’re practically panting. and he knows what’s waiting once he gets that dress off. can see the way your thighs are clamped together, eyeing his lips and his neck and his chest. you’re starving.
‘is that right?’ he taunts, hands ghost above your waist, not quite touching but almost.
‘yes,’ you begrudge, spitting the words at him, fingers skirting around his collar, messing with the soft cotton. ‘please eddie.’
it doesn’t take much for him to cave, hands meeting your waist after much teasing. his eyes are hooded, staring at your lips rather than your eyes, ‘i’ve been waiting for you to come crawlin’ back,’ there’s a hint of satisfaction in his voice but he’s adamant on not ruining this again so keeps it to a minimum.
‘shut up, you knew i would,’ pressing your chest to his.
eddie hadn’t exactly been celibate since your last rendezvous last month but god, no one had felt quite as good as you. he’d dreamt about it, this very moment to be precise. it hadn’t played out like this in his head though.
his idealised version included a hell of a lot more begging, you might’ve even gotten on your knees at one point. but there’s no time for that now, not after you’d made him wait so long.
‘don’t do it again,’ he breathes, lips brushing against yours.
‘i won’t,’ you gasp out, ‘i promise,’ finally locking lips with a haste.
it’s a hungry kiss, teeth and tongues clashing with pure animalistic want for one another. you taste like mint and a vague hint of wine, so you were getting wined and dined but he’d have to provide the sixty nine.
normally he wouldn’t bother to find his way to his room, the couch would suffice however he’s well aware that this won’t likely be a one and done. perhaps an all night affair.
his fingers fumble for the door knob, reaching behind you all the while trying to keep his tongue in your mouth and successfully guide you backwards. you fall into the room, his weight pressing against your chest had sent you flying, finding the bed through sheer muscle memory.
you break away just long enough to land on the springy mattress, eddie climbing above shortly after, eager to continue the kiss. too much time had been wasted already.
his fingers creep lower, slipping between your thighs and up underneath the satin dress. he was right, ‘this all f’me sweetheart?’ teasing his fingers into your sodden underwear, suckling along the length of your jaw.
he’s not stupid enough to mark you how he wanted but he is tempted. would love to watch you squirm as you explain the violet markings to pretty boy.
his fingers slip inside, groaning against the skin of your neck, he’d missed this just as much as you had. made evident by the growing tent rousing in his sweat pants.
you pant softly beneath him, digging into his biceps with an iron-clad grip, not that he was going anywhere. everything about you is so sweet, the way you unravel the second he touches you, eyes barely staying open as his fingers slide in and out.
you’re a picture. something to behold, to think about on the nights you don’t come around. this is what keeps him going.
he slides out slowly, removing his hand from your underwear and haphazardly sliding down his own pants. he’s trying to savour it but you’re too much, writhing around, sending his head into a frenzy.
the fact that neither of you could be bothered to undress, the straps of your dress sliding down, revealing the lacy number eddie hoped you’d worn for him and not steve.
he lines himself up with your entrance, huffing when he slides in, knees almost collapsing when you whine into his ear. his tongue glides over his bottom lip, wetting the skin as he tries to focus on not coming immediately.
‘oh,’ he exhales, ‘you hear that? you missed me, huh?’ driven wild by the sounds of your pussy enveloping him, the way your skin collided with such velocity. it’s music to his ears and completely indistinguishable to anyone else.
‘yeah,’ you breathe, loosely attaching your lips to his jaw, ‘so much.. missed you so much,’ garbling over the creaking mattress.
jesus christ, if you kept speaking like that, he wasn’t going to last long.
his fingers tilt your chin upward, forcing your eyes to meet his before travelling down between your sweaty bodies, finding your neglected clit quickly. your legs snap shut, releasing a shuddered breath into his ear as you clamp him between your thighs.
‘oh my god,’ you whine, grabbing at his arms as he quickens his pace. the room full of lewd noises, he’s sure the trailer was probably rocking. he’s just grateful that wayne was back on nights or else you’d be somewhere dark in the back of his van.
your cunt clenches around him, bodies moving as one as your hips jut upward, chasing his cock when he cruelly slows down. he just wants to savour the moment, if only for a second, gazing down at you through blurred vision.
steve didn’t deserve to see this. not that he’s sure he was ever capable of that. lipstick smeared around your chin, looking up at him through hooded eyelids and the delirious babbling that fell from your lips. this was stuff most people only dreamt of.
your palm pulls him from his head, cradling his cheek as you plead with him to just fuck you.
he obliges, happily. thumb still working wonders on your sensitive bud, sending the pair of you hurtling towards your looming orgasm.
you repeat his name like some sort of mantra, breathless and pathetic. ‘shit..’ eyes rolling to the back of your head. eddie knows you, knows your body, knows you’re in that sweet spot where you’re completely malleable and incoherent.
he’s not far off, especially not when your thighs begin to quiver, tightening around him as you go quiet. incapable of thinking or doing anything as you unravel beneath his body. jaw slack with your lips curling into the perfect ‘o’.
if he were some eighteenth century painter, he’d probably have hundreds of canvases full of this exact image.
eddie’s forehead drops, pressed against yours as he tumbles over the edge. ‘baby.. oh shit you’re- fuck,’ spurting thick ropes of cum into your cunt because he’s too wrecked to think about the implications of that right now.
the world goes soft around the edges for a moment, his head spinning as he pulls out, collapsing into a heap on his bed, a mess of limbs and clammy skin, both panting as he reels.
he reaches over, wiping his thumb over your chin and clearing off the mess he’d made. but really, he’s proud. admiring the beauty in your disheveled hair and bleary eyes.
‘i’ve missed you,’ he whispers, watching intently as you readjust your disregarded panties. give him a minute and he’d be raring for round two.
you tut, turning to face him proudly, ‘i missed you too,’ lying back against the pillow. the fact that you hadn’t immediately left was a good sign.
‘you staying?’ he asks cautiously, one brow raised, not wanting to push it too far.
‘mhm,’ you nod, playing coy although eddie can spot that grin starting a mile away.
that’s enough for him to throw his arm over your waist, pulling your body to his as he mentally prepares for the night you were about to have.
-
eddie leans over the counter, chin resting in his hand. tuesdays were never a particularly exciting day, the residents of hawkins weren’t looking for records during the week apparently.
the door chimes and his gaze flies towards the door, gobsmacked to find one steve harrington and you stood in the doorway. you’re whispering angrily at him, tugging on his arm, trying to get him to budge.
oh this was about to be so fun.
steve’s ignoring everything you’re saying, too preoccupied with marvelling the place. the dinghy old record store was hardly somewhere he frequented.
your eyes meet eddie’s with a serious please shut the fuck up message that he’s choosing to ignore. instead, he straightens up, waiting for steve to reach the counter before starting his attack.
‘stevie boy,’ he roars, ‘long time no see, how’ve you been man?’ wilfully ignoring your pleading eyes.
‘oh munson, i didn’t know you worked here,’ steve smiles, still eyeing the various yellowed posters that hung around the store. ‘i’m great, you working hard or hardly working?’
god he’s so smug. he doesn’t even mean to be but eddie just can’t stand it. though he does get some slight satisfaction with knowing that not even twenty four hours ago he had had you dripping from his chin.
‘oh i’m always working hard,’ his eyes flitting to you, ‘what can i do for ya’ today?’
steve looks over towards you, arm resting around your shoulder which eddie detests. it’s such a flimsy claim and if steve knew anything, he’d realise how stupid he looked.
‘well this one wants some new record.. told her we’d stop by and see if you had it.’
you keep your jaw clenched, antsy and irritated as you wait for eddie to inevitably make some wise crack. ‘what is it?’ asking you, rather than steve. his eyes threatening to slip down to your chest.
‘madonna,’ steve grins, completely unaware of how much he really wasn’t a part of the conversation.
‘hmm,’ eddie hums, ‘i didn’t know you were a madonna fan,’ poking and prodding just a little more. seeing how much he could irritate you before you cracked and said something.
‘why would you know that?’ you bite, regretting it almost immediately.
‘well i know lots of things about you,’ he smiles, slipping from behind the counter and over to where they kept the shitty pop you apparently liked.
it’s no surprise you don’t reply. eddie had the upper hand here and you seriously didn’t want to give him a reason to open his mouth again.
he hands the record to you, lips twitching as you scowl at him. steve is completely oblivious, watching the exchange with a grin so cheesy, it knocks eddie sick.
ever the joker, eddie twists round, fiddling with the other tapes until he finds the right one. if he hadn’t pissed you off before, he’d definitely get you riled up now.
‘i think you’d like this one stevie,’ holding the tape out to his face, ‘jessie’s girl.. right up your street.’
steve nods, graciously taking the plastic case from his hand. you look less than impressed, the scowl on your face sends shivers down his spine but it’s so worth it.
‘sweet man, thanks,’ steve nods, looking over to you with that same stupid expression on his face. he’s so naive and it would make eddie feel bad if steve hadn’t been such an asshole in school.
you don’t say a word for the rest of the transaction, hanging onto steve’s arm with a sour frown. he’d pay for his antics later but now he waves you off cheerily, ‘enjoy it man!’ he calls out as you leave, relishing the chaos he’d caused.
-
when you inevitably turn up at his door the following night, you’re miserable as sin, pouting with your arms crossed over your chest.
‘you think you’re a comedian or something?’ jabbing his shoulder with your carefully manicured nail. ‘he thinks you’re friends,’ expelling the pent up anger on his poor shoulder.
‘we are friends,’ eddie laughs, using the belt loops on your jeans to pull you closer, ‘i’m just closer to his girlfriend,’ despite your face screwing up, you don’t pull away. obviously.
‘it’s not funny,’ expression softening when his hands find your ass, relaxing into his touch, ‘if you want this to continue you’re gonna have to learn how to shut up,’ your palms sliding down his chest, tugging at his shirt as you go.
his head dips, pressing his forehead to yours, ‘you want me to make it up to you?’
you nod carefully and finally, that smile he loves peeks through.
you’re a different person around steve, more timid and sweet. not a patch on the girl now laid underneath him with her shirt pulled up to her chin, joint hanging lazily between her lips as eddie’s lips attach themselves to your bare nipple.
no, this was only something he got to see. if he says so himself, it’s the best version of you.
your mouth parts slightly, smoke and soft sighs filling the trailer alike. he’s insatiable, wanting to swallow you whole like some snake he’d seen on the discovery channel. his tongue flicks around the stiff bud while his other hand becomes friends with your other breast.
on his knees between your spread legs, just the way god intended him to be.
there’s a knock at the front door, pulling him from the bliss of your boob in his mouth. he groans, waiting for whichever rude asshole to leave.
‘hey munson,’ steve’s voice sounds from the other side. both of your heads fly to the door, sitting up from the compromising position you had found yourselves in. ‘you there man?’ he hollers, knocking again.
‘shitshitshit,’ you hush, rushing to pull your shirt back down. launching yourself from the couch as eddie sits up, trying to think of something, anything that would explain your presence in his trailer.
now you weren’t amateurs to this game; your car wasn’t outside, you had a solid alibi for your whereabouts.. so what the hell did he want?
and as much as eddie liked to goad and tempt fate, he wasn’t stupid. if steve found you in his trailer, he’d most certainly beat eddie’s ass. no doubt with the help of his yappy little lap dog tommy.
‘bedroom,’ he hurries, taking the joint from your fingers and stubbing it out into the ashtray. fuck. why now? why when he’s sporting a solid half-chub does your meathead boyfriend have to ruin it all?
you scurry off, a concerned look overtaking your features. keeping the door open a crack just in case things really got out of hand.
eddie’s obviously flustered, his cheeks burn and his hair is unruly but he doesn’t exactly have the time to do anything about it. he swings the door open just as steve is about to turn back to his fucking shiny beemer.
‘oh hey dude.. sorry i was-,’ eddie’s fumbling with his words, too caught up in concealing his stiffy to speak coherently, ‘doing something,’ now he definitely looked as if he was jerking off.
steve spins back round, ‘oh shit man! i was just..’ he slinks back over to the door, now speaking in hushed tones, ‘someone told me you sold weed.. i was wondering if i could get some?’
god he’s such a dweeb. simultaneously, eddie hates him and wants to coddle him. he’s so nauseating.
‘oh..’ trying to hide the instant feeling of relief that washes over his body, he could finally fucking breathe. ‘sure.. come in,’ now this was a risky game but he couldn’t exactly start dishing out drugs on his front porch, could he?
steve walks in with his hands tucked into his pockets, trying not to stare at the peeling wallpaper and various drug paraphernalia that littered the table. he doesn’t reckon your boyfriend is that observant otherwise he’d notice the collection of stubbed out joints with your lipstick stains on them.
eddie watches him for a moment, wondering how this man who reminds him of a labrador could reign such terror over everyone in high school. he doesn’t dwell on it too much because truly, eddie got the last laugh. steve just didn’t know it yet.
‘how much you want?’ he asks, thanking the stars above that he’d bought his box out into the living room before your boyfriend had decided to gatecrash.
‘uh.. two?’ steve replies cluelessly.
‘two what?’
he shakes his head, not understanding how that wasn’t incredibly clear, as if eddie was the stupid one, ‘joints?’
‘you want pre-rolls?’ eddie asks, quirking his eyebrow at the dumbass in front of him.
‘yeah, those,’ steve nods, now smiling at eddie like this whole conversation wasn’t unhinged and completely unnecessary.
‘oh.. right,’ he holds off on rolling his eyes, deciding he’d get his revenge in the form of ripping him off.
he roots through his box, grateful to have rolled a couple earlier with the intention of not having to roll up while you were here. oh well. anything to get steve the fuck out of his living room and your tits back in his mouth, as soon as he can.
‘here ya’ go man..’ he debates whether asking for a hundred would get him his ass beat or not. ‘thirty bucks,’ passing the joints to steve with a small smile.
he digs around in his abnormally-tight jean pocket for his wallet, handing eddie three tens with absolutely no complaints. fucking sucker.
‘thanks man!’ he continues, heading for the door at long last. ‘oh.. i know you two are friends so i just wanna ask..’ speaking in hushed tones as if anyone but you could hear them, ‘if we could keep this between us? my girl doesn’t know i smoke anymore.’
wow.
what a fucking idiot.
he won’t mention the use of my girl and how much he wants to strangle the dumbass stood before him. eddie bites back an added our, decided he values his life over a quick-witted quip.
eddie closes the non-existent zip on his lips, fighting the smirk that wanted to break through, ‘my lips are sealed.’
they certainly were.
‘thanks man,’ disappearing off into the night.
eddie rushes over, locking the door once again as he peaks through the tiny window, watching as the headlights leave the trailer park at long, long last.
‘he’s gone,’ he calls out, watching the bedroom door you’re waiting behind, bottom lip between your teeth as you creep out.
‘thirty dollars?’ is all you can say. cheeks twitching when you start giggling, thumping eddie on his arm rather hard.
he just shrugs, ‘stevie boy had it coming for interrupting,’ hands already finding the hem of your shirt, eager to continue what had been rudely ruined.
‘you’re an assh-,’ you begin only to be cut off by eddie’s lips pressing to yours.
yeah yeah maybe he was an asshole but he’d just endured an entire conversation with your fucking boyfriend sporting a fucking boner, you could bicker about it later.

So like what if Adam didn't die and lute managed to come out of the battle WITH an arm?
I want both of them to suffer a little so hear me out
What if our dear reader is an exorcist? So of course she's an angel!
What'll their reaction be if the two witnessed their dear close friend, the sweetest angel and friend they had the fortune to meet in their long lives, sacrifice herself so that the two of them would go back safely? (Forcing herself to go beyond her limits, healing all of their wounds and even opening a portal back to heaven just for the two of them.)
+ the fact that they're both horrible people and the only person who cared for both of them, tended their wounds, always there to back them both up, is now gone?
Angst is calling for me to make the two of them suffer a lil
Omg yes! This is such a good idea! I love making characters suffer! ALSO I do every request so dont be afraid to send them! And it may take me some time to get to them, but I shall get to them. Sorry it took so long hope you enjoy! By far the favorite thing I’ve ever wrote. Like legit made me cry.
“I’m so fucking sorry!”

Summery: Adam and Lute watch you die, the only person they loved
Tumblr media
“Are you guys sure about this? I mean what if her father shows up?” You spoke to the two exterminator angels.
They both looked to you simultaneously and there eyes softened on your worried form. Lute was the first to speak up to ease your worries. “It’s gonna be okay. Lucifer was the one who let us do this yearly anyways.” You nodded your head. She was right but you still worried.
“Don’t worry about it, hot stuff. If he shows up I can handle him.” Adam spoke ever so confidently. “Promise?” You were so afraid for them. Adam walked over and gave you a hug, kissing the top of your head. “Promise.” You reached out for Lute, wanting her to join the hug as well.
As she joined the hug you spoke from between their chest. “After the battle let’s all go and have a beach day.” The two angels laughed and agreed.
You hurried to Lute as you so saw her rip her arm off. You never flew so fast in your life. When you got to her you stopped her from flying after Vaggie. “We have to help Adam!” She spoke frantically.
“And I will. You need to sit down and let me help you first.” You sat her on the ground and placed your hands over where her arm should be.
A white glowing light came from your hands as you focused on rebuilding her arm. You started to feel dizzy as blood pooled in your moth. You could see black spots but when you were down Lutes arm had been good as new. You would t even know it’s been severed if not for her uniform sleeve. You two went to stand but the ground rumbled. You looked up and saw a golden light. Adams golden light came down in the middle of the hotel.
You quickly threw Lute away from the beam and got hit instead. A cut was in your shoulder. In went clean through. Your arm was fucking toasted from the severed nerves. You finally blacked out.
“Welcome to heaven.” Saint Peter spoke as you arrived at the golden gates. Though you weren’t interested in him, more so the man beside him talking to another female. “Then when the concert was over a BUNCH of girl came to the back to meet me. It was awesome.” The man spoke. You quickly intruded the conversation. “You play in a band?”
The man is what seemed like a mask turned to look at you, while sipping his drink loudly. “Sure am babe! Your looking at the first man!” Your eyes widened, but not because he was first man. “What part in the band do you play.”
You showed no interest in him being the first man. Normally that would piss him off but this time he didn’t care. “Guitarist.” Your smile widened.
You looked to the girl, clearly wanting her to joking the conversation as well. “Are you apart of the band?!” You were so excited and nice. It felt refreshing for Lute. “No.” Her voice sounded cold, though talking to you sparked a warmth inside her. “I’m Y/N.”
Lute smiled and extended her hand. “Lute.” You started to excitedly shake her hand. Happy to make a new friend.
Adam wrapped his arm around you both. “I’m Adam.” Well two new friends.
“You guys what?!” You asked, eyes wide at what just came out of Adams mouth. It was a slip up on Adams part. They had just gotten done with the extermination and Adam was use to telling you everything. So he may have slipped up and started talking about the extermination.
“Listen babe. It has to be done.” Adam was worried. Worried that you would get kicked out of heaven if Sera found out you knew.
Lute was the one who explained the whole situation. How the sinners were up-rising. How it needed to be done to protect heaven.
To both Adam and Lutes surprise you understood. It made them happy that you were accepting of it. For the first time they truly felt like someone wouldn’t leave. Sure they had each other before this but there friendly relationship really started from you being there glue.
“Okay babe but now that you know you have to become an exterminator like us.”
That made you nervous but Adam and Lute always stayed with you during it. They also didn’t expect you to kill anyone. All you needed to do was wear the uniform one day a year.
You stared at the papers that needed to be done. Since you didn’t kill the demons you demanded to do Adams paperwork.
You slowly blinked. You were tired but you had an hour to finish this and give it to Sera.
A coffee was placed right in front of you. You looked up and saw Lute. You smiled at her and grabbed the coffee. You also grabbed her hand and gave her a friendly kiss on the lips.
It was something you two had started doing recently. A way to give each-other the attention you craved.
Just as that had happened Adam walked through the door. His eyes widened. You were quick to explain it was platonic before he could assume anything. One he understood what happened he demanded you start doing that with him. He demanded the same thing from Lute as well.
As time went on many people believed you were in a poly relationship. But y’all were platonic friends who did romantic things sometimes.
Sure y’all all had sex together quite a bit, but no one ever felt any romantic feelings. It was all friendly and it felt natural.
You groaned awake at the sound of Adam shouting. “All of man-kind came from these nuts!” You opened your eyes to see Lute staring down at you, panic in her eyes. You smiled at her. Though your moment was cut short at the sound of Adam gasping. You looked over to him and saw a little maid stabbing him. You and Lute shouted Adams name as your hurried to fly to him. Fuck.
“Adam look at me your going to be fine.” You spoke your tone in confidence despite the tears running down your face. He smiled at his two girls looking over him.
He may have lost two wives, but he gained two best friends he would never replace for a damn thing.
You started to heal his wound with your hand like you did Lutes arm. You could feel pain all throughout your body as you pushed your limits. Your eyes started bleeding as did your nose.
Lute was conflicted as she watched you. She knew you needed rest but she didn’t want Adam to die. All you had to do was save Adam she would get you to a hospital.
But you weren’t making it back.
As Adam eyes opened he felt better than the first day he was made. He looked to Y/N and she smiled at him. Happy he was okay. He went to talk but she fell to his side. Her breath shallow. He hurriedly got up and looked her up and down. At that moment the portal closed and all the angels were gone beside him, you and Lute.
“Fuck babe look at me.” Your eyes were distant but you focused back in on him. Your Adam. Your apple.
“I love you, Apple. I love you too, wild girl.” You said to them both. Making them cry harder. “I love you too. More than anything.” They both said to her simultaneously. You closed your eyes and a portal opened.
“Fuck!” Lute shouted. She knew you weren’t going to make it.
“I’m so fucking sorry!” He spoke loudly as your eyes started to flutter closed. “It’s okay. Be happy. And go have that beach day.” Lute sobbed in her hand as she fell to the ground.
Adam gripped to you harder his tears falling to your chest as he cried silently. He couldn’t shout anymore. “Come back to us.” He whispered. You didn’t complete his wish. The one time you didn’t give him what he wished for.
Your breathing stopped and your halo fell. “I’m sorry baby.” Adam cooed in your ear, as he started to rock the two of you. Begging for god to give him back the one of the two woman he ever loved. You and Lute.
He looked to the sky. “You cruel manipulative bastard! Was a good person. I thought god was supposed to be merciful.” Lucifer watched as the first man shared the same rage he once had with god. “I have never asked for anything! I didn’t ask for Lilith. I didn’t ask for Eve! All I ask is to bring Y/N back to us.” But god did not respond. Leaving Adam to turn his rage to the group watch.
“I will kill you all!” He shouted, the tears coming from his eyes seeming endless. “I will have my vengeance.”
He picked you up as Lute grabbed your halo. The two walked through the portal.
They did have that beach day, but it was your funeral. Where your body was buried where no one could find. Only him and Lute. The two hugged each other as they both lost the person they loved most.
OMG I HAVE NEVER CRIED WHILE WRITING SOMETHING UNTIL THIS DAY! But I hoped you enjoyed! And I do take requests so please send away!

It was the dead of night on the second day of the mission, Artemis laid in prone position with her sniper dug into her shoulder. It was swelteringly hot, even with the moon rising - she took another quick glance in her scope and deemed the area clear before sitting up. She sighed out the dormant breath, stretching her arms outwards before pulling off her short sleeve to gaze at the long sleeve underneath it.
She looked over her shoulders, making sure the rooftop was empty before pulling back the tan sleeves, gazing at the brownish-black bruises in the shape of handprints that littered her forearms near her elbows. Her fingers barely grazed the skin, staring at the vicious outlines. The ice had done nothing to help them go away and she couldn’t ice them for that long anyway, she was gone in a mission six hours later. That’s why she found herself on the rooftop on watch, questioning why her boyfriend kept doing it if he loved her.
She pulled her sleeves back down, nails found her teeth as she stared out into the treeline. It had been quiet for the past four hours, no one had even dared to venture up to the roof to talk to her - she was thankful for it in some aspect. Gave her time to contemplate, time to just breathe. She hadn’t been relaxed since… well… before this stuff had started with her boyfriend.
She was convinced that he didn’t mean it, of course he didn’t, he couldn’t. He bought her flowers every Tuesday she was home, he cooked dinner every chance he got, he folded laundry when she did the dishes - he was perfect to her for the past two years, except for when he got drunk. And of course, he was an incredible lightweight, so if he went past two beers, she knew she was in for it. She had finally gotten him to stop going for her throat, only grabbing at her arms and legs, punching whenever he felt like it.
She was humiliated by it. A Special Forces Sergeant being beat up by her boyfriend every time she goes home was embarrassing, but she couldn’t leave him. She loved him, she was convinced that he loved her. Wouldn’t he come to his senses one of these days?
She yelped in pain when a hand grabbed her forearm, she ripped her arm away as she looked up to see the familiar skull mask above her. The hand moved away quickly, she moved away from his feet as he spoke, “Not on your game, Sergeant.”
“Sorry, LT.” She mumbled, instinctively tugging down the sleeves even if they were grazing her wrists. She sat back a little, watching as Ghost settled on the ground beside her.
“Gettin’ tired?”
“No, sir.”
He didn’t make another sound, pulling the rifle from her stand and taking a look at it. “Did you hurt your arm earlier?”
She didn’t answer, only staring at the ground.
“Show me.”
Her head moved up so fast she thought it was going to fly off, she babbled, “What? No, it’s fine, LT, I promise-“
He grabbed Artemis’ wrist, she squawked as he pulled up her sleeve, seeing the purplish-black outline of a hand print. And he was damn sure it wasn’t her hand. She tried to pry her wrist from Ghost’s grip, but he looked up at you. “Tell me what happened.”
“It’s nothing, I promise-“
“Please don’t make me order you.” His voice grew soft, the grip loosened and she pulled her arm away, eyes staring into the ground. “Was it one of the muppets back at base?”
“No.”
“One of the boys?”
“What? No, no- Ghost, please.”
“Your boyfriend?”
“No no, it was my fault, I was annoying him and he was drunk-“ She mumbled, feelings tears sting at her eyes as she pulled the sleeve down again. “He just gets drunk sometimes, that’s all.”
“Are you serious?” Ghost’s voice was low, his hand resting on his thigh. If she looked now, she could see how his hands curled into fists, notice the small difference in how his jaw was clenched so hard, he thought he might crack some teeth. But she didn’t. Kept her eyes on the floor, looking away from her lieutenant.
“It’s nothing.”
“No, it’s not nothing, love.” He murmured, opening a hand and pressing his palm into his knee, forgoing trying to reach for her like his frozen heart wanted to. “No man who loves you should put his hands on you, ever hurt you.” He took a short breath. “Even if he’s drunk. That’s not love.”
“He loves me.” She spoke immediately after, her hands clenched into fists. “He brings me flowers, he cooks for me- he waits for me after every mission…” She sniffled and wiped her nose with the back of her hand. “He proposed. He doesn’t ever mean to hurt me.”
He watched her with bated breath, letting her continue.
“We’re planning on kids. He told me he’ll get sober.” She felt the tears as they raced down her cheeks and onto her cargo pants.
“Would your kids deserve that kind of love?”
She froze. It took her a moment to turn and look at Ghost, his eyes out on the tree-line.
“What?”
“No kid ever deserves a father who beats ‘em, beats their mum. Doesn’t matter if he’s sober, love,” He settled the rifle back onto the stand and looked back at her. “He’ll always get violent. It’ll boil over ‘til he gets just mad enough that he puts one or both you and your kids in the hospital, even if he’s sober. That’s not fair.”
She sat there, stunned. Tears felt cold now as they dripped from her chin.
“Speaking from experience?”
He looked away, back to the treeline before lowly saying, “My father deserves to die. Haven’t gotten the chance to put the bullet in his head for what he did to my mum and brother.”
Artemis reached her hand out, placing her hand on his fist - his head turned to her. His brown eyes were wide, but she could barely see them. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t stay with that fucker. It’ll only get worse, it‘ll never get better.”
Her hand didn’t retreat; but her head lowered. “I don’t think I can leave, he always joked that he’d kill me if I tried to.”
“Sergeant, I really rather not see you in a civvy body bag ‘cause I wasn’t able to help you.”
She looked at her hand, his other hand gently settled on top of hers.
“I mean it. Let me help you, Missy.”
She looked to her lieutenant, a smile on her face. “What?”
“Your name is Artemis. Mis? Missy?” He answered, before continuing, “I’m not saying that you’re not good at aiming-“ He flustered over it but she just turned and looked up at the stars.
“Missy. I like it.” She nodded before looking back at him. “Only you can call me Missy, though. Letting Soap use it might go to his head.”
“Oh, didn’t know he had one.”
She laughed a little while Simon smirked under his mask. She looked back at the sky again, drawing the constellations in her head before she spoke, “Thank you, Ghost.”
“For what?” He asked, his eyes couldn’t move away from her, even as she kept her gaze at the sky.
“For being here for me today. And the other day.” Her voice wavered a little bit, yet she kept her gaze steady. If she could, she would’ve counted all of the stars in the sky - but she couldn’t. The tears were brimming at the side of her eyes. “I don’t know what to do.”
“I can go with you.” He spoke quietly, eyes back on the tree-line. “In case he gets physical.”
He felt as her head rested on his shoulder, hand still sandwiched by his.
“I still love him.”
Ghost sighed, moving the hand from underneath hers to settle on her knee. “I know.”
“All of my future will go out the window.”
“I know, love.”
“What will I do?” Her voice wavered, more tears fell from her eyes. “Where will I go?”
“I’ll help you.” He whispered, eyes still on the perimeter, making sure they were safe. “You can stay with me at my flat.”
“I can’t ask that of you, LT.” Her hand squeezed his knee, he patted her hand.
“I’m offerin’, you won’t be a burden. I can guarantee that no one will put your hands on you again.” Ghost spoke it into existence, promising the universe that would kill for her. He looked down to her, meeting her eyes again and he wished he could’ve moved closer, feel what her lips felt like on his like he did in his dreams. “I’ll off the bastard if you want me to.”
She gazed at him, tears slowly stopping as she whispered, “Okay.”
“If you don’t, I won’t. I’ll make sure he’ll stay away, but know that he will get a bone broken for every time he ever put his hands on you.”
“Don’t hurt him.” Her voice was small, he could almost feel her tremble.
He shook his head. “He already crossed the line, love. My fists are called payback for a reason.”

𝑫𝒐𝒍𝒄𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒊𝒍 𝑵𝒖𝒐𝒗𝒐 (Yandere!Dainsleif/Reader)
a/n: I love Dainsleif with every fiber of my being, do you guys know that? Anyways, just like all Dain-fics, this one has illustrations (I hope they give Fairytale book vibes). I’d like to thank @meimeimeirin cuz this was an idea we were laughing abt at 4am and somehow I made something out of it HAHA.
Unreliable Synopsis: “Fairytale worlds follow fairytale laws. There’s always a protagonist burdened with impossible tasks who will experience the rule of three, witness transformations, find talking animals, and learn the power of kept promises. So, before you embark on your journey, "princess" (Y/n), have you heard of the Ugly Duckling’s tale?”
CW: light yandere themes, fairytale!au just for the hell of it. HURT/NO COMFORT. Late/Advanced happy birthday, Dainsleif.
Tumblr media
"The destined knight is late," the great dragon clicked his tongue. One would expect that an inferior creature such as an ugly duckling would quake and shrink while perched on the Dragon King's hand. But their expression was nothing short of serene. There is a veneer of calm that the great Dragon Ongri did not overlook.
The "duckling" had the eyes of an old gentleman with worldly disinterests.
He was longing for death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝕺nce upon a time, there was an ugly duckling who was abandoned by both their siblings and mother. Oftentimes, he was pecked by his peers, sneered into thinking his big head and scarred face. were both a reason for his survival and misery all the same. The ugly duckling thought himself unloveable no matter where he went. The small waters he was born in had no room for miscreation, and when he traveled to an elderly's house elsewhere, the chickens thought him useless and undesirable. Normally, the story would've been a happier bedtime story if he had gone to meet the Royal birds and begged for them to end his life. Maybe then, he would've realized that he had not been a duck but a swan all along. But alas, our poor ugly "duckling" found his feet at the hands of the great Dragon King- Ongri's mercy.
"Will you kill me?" The ugly duckling asked calmly. "You need to release your anger, and I can be but one of many casualties."
"I am not a creature of impulse."
The divine dragon scowled. "After Bars' and Fein' deaths, the concept that this realm dubs as Time and Moments is now under my jurisdiction. I've no use for wasted breaths."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As it happens, the dragon was in a troubling situation. There is an immediate need for a substitute. Sensing the urgency of fate's call, Ongri unleashed an ancient incantation. Feathers singed into flesh, wings clipped into arms, and in a burst of radiant light, the "ugly duckling" was reborn as a human knight. His body had scar-like spots from the Divine Dragon infusing him with magic, albeit the metamorphosis was far from flawless. Even as a human, he was imperfect. Mysterious dark blue "burn lines" traced his neck and arms. With the new human's eyes still closed, the dragon spoke to him, the last for a long time: "Forget your past and this whole affair." He commanded. "Go, find and protect your princess."
It mattered not if this was the last breath Ongri would tell him, besides…
When a god applies a curse, it takes effect at a higher level of reality than the person themselves.
Tumblr media
“(Y/n)…”
“It’s me, Dainsleif… Can you… still remember my voice?”
“…”
“I… understand that once a person reaches this stage of the curse, their senses get muted. The remnants of those who once dwelled here must have been the catalyst of your ailments worsening..”
“… I’m sorry. I am incredibly sorry that I found you at such a later time. It did not occur to me that you would be here in the Chasm.”
“In our next fairy tale, I’ll—”
“No… I cannot subject you to any more empty promises… But know this:”
“I will keep you safe from now on.”
“So, do not leave my side ever again.”
Tumblr media
And the new knight opened his eyes.
Memories of the dragon vanished from his mind. He was now a being of larger flesh and bones without recollections of his past. Should another human take his shoes, they would know that it was a fresh awakening. His first breath tasted like rich champagnes. Golden. Even the sun shone in such resplendent light that made the world seemingly revolve around him.
His legs wobbled. Sliding onto the grassy area, he caught a sight of his hair. Blonde. Like hay— they were golden threads silkily strewn about. He soon noticed that the rest of his complexion was a light pinkish-hued color, as did the hands that prevented his head from taking a serious fall.
The reborn “ugly duckling” may have forgotten why, but he felt alienated from his own body. And he has the Divine Dragon to thank for his new vessel and plain armor.
“Help! Someone, HELP!!!”
His ears perked up. It was a scream with a fervor of a “damsel in distress”. Vent clamor as she may with her whole throat, nothing would come out of it.
But fate will not allow this untimely demise. Quick on his new feet, the new knight dashed towards the sound. No cavalry— just a single determined mind. After running for some time, the unnamed knight did not come across any souls.
That is, until he found the young maiden he was “fated” to save. She was on the ground, clinging into her wrist as though she burned her hand. In the ground laid an iron sword, begging to be drawn.
At the sight of the wild animal bearing down on her with frightening speed, the “knight” took her weapon and charged towards the scene, raising it in front of the menacing beast. He gazed at the bear that towered over him, displaying its slobbery maw and long, pointed claws. The untamed creature snarled and dropped to strike.
Perhaps the Divine Dragon saw his noble pursuits, perhaps he was naturally gifted in combat, but the bear was unable to rake the man’s body. Miraculous it was that not a single nasty laceration was left on his person. He lacked the strength to take it down in one fell swoop, but the speed he had made up for it. Like swans that swerved through the wind and flow of water, he dodged all its attacks. With a few strikes from his blade, the bear falls...
He breathed out, shaking in his boots though he tried not to show it. Straightening his body, he met the maiden’s gaze. His blue eyes met hers in a piercing gaze, nearly taunting her as his new opponent. The young lady exhaled a deep sigh of relief.
“T-Thank… you…”
Subconsciously, he circled the shoulder that recklessly swung the sword around. The new “knight” tilted his head. For what? He wished to ask, but words did not come out.
“For saving me, of course.”
The maiden gracefully stood. Her garments had lost some of their value due to the soil and dirt, but she herself was not affected in the same way. She exuded a fierceness that suggested anyone who ventured to hurt her would be receiving more than they bargained for. Instead of tucking her hair to the back, she pulled them forward, hiding her ears.
“Do allow me to introduce myself, kind knight.” She cleared her throat softly. “You may call me Princess (F/n), daughter of King Regan and current crown princess— heir to the throne upon the late Prince Pierre’s demise. May I know your name?”
… Silence…
The princess tilted her head.
"... Does my savior have a name?"
"... Name?"
The young man paused.
He couldn't remember his name. In actuality, he had absolutely no memory of anything. His mind was a bottomless pit with little to no air. With wide eyes, his hand moved slowly to around his neck. The act of conjuring up his supposed name left him terrified for reasons unbeknownst to him.
Does he… not have a name?
“... You must be joking.” The princess deadpanned. “How can one not have a name? Were you not baptized under the Divine Dragon’s light?”
She sounded incredibly upset by this fact. Whatever she ranted on about, it must be a human tradition.
“Do you not know how important names are—” The princess sighed, “Never mind. I shall assume you are one of those orphaned folks. Besides, if what you say is true, bestowing you a new name is a power much more potent.”
“I… want a name.” The man spoke up rather shyly, voice almost inaudbile.
"I know, I know… Huh, I usually take names rather than gifting them," the princess chuckled. She seemed wholly aware of his dilemma. "Hmm… Let me see…"
She examined his features closely. He was dressed in the traditional knightly fashion, albeit slightly altered. The holy kingdom's knights, of course, never donned masks—especially not half of one. He was strange, but there was an innocent genuineness about him. The blonde man doesn't have a polished appearance. He looked like a lost duckling.
It was rude to stare at the peculiar blue wounds on his face far too long so the princess’ eyes trailed above his hair.
"Leaf…" She pointed upward. "Leaf."
The knight blinked.
What a peculiar sounding name.
"Understood." He nodded and bowed politely. "I shall now be referred to as Leaf."
"No, I meant—" The princess cut herself off and chuckled. "Oh, well. I meant the leaf on one's head. But certainly the name Leaf does suit you fine."
“Do place your iron sword away, Leaf.” She added, cringing. “It is unbecoming of a knight to point a sword to their princess.”
“May… May I ask as to why you were attacked by a bear?”
“Quite bold of you to inquire a royal about a recent assassination attempt,” she humored him with a smile. He safely assumed she would not enact punishment for his assertiveness. “If you must satiate your curiosity, it is exactly that. An assassination attempt. They believed since my brother had fallen so easily, I myself must be an easy game since I adore wandering around the forest.”
“And they seem to be right,” Leaf muttered, wittily referring to the incident prior that arranged this fated meeting.
“Oh?” She scoffed, her polite smile remaining intact. “You’ve quite the tongue. Are you from the valleys?”
“I do not know.”
She squinted.
“Hmm, I see.” The princess exhaled and shook her head disapprovingly. “Then I am to presume that I should also use my wits to cleverly weave a background for you much like your name, Leaf?”
“You wish for me to serve you, that I can tell, and for that to happen I would need your equal assistance,” Leaf spoke solemnly. “I do not recall anything of my past, but you can always make one for me.”
Leaf knelt in front of her. Silence ensued.
“You are deadly calm for a man who wished his history be erased…” The princess muttered.
Leaf was a strange man indeed. He was perceptive, yet he spoke like fate’s pawn. That is to say, the princess noticed he only ever says the truth. His countenance conveyed little desire to adopt rebellious ideologies. To be honest, there was nothing in those contrivedly starry eyes. It was bare. A false sky.
It almost made the princess worry for his lack of self-preservation had she not been the same. Lies were always at her hands’ disposal, and she greatly hoped it was not what her heart would contain in her last pages. She didn’t wish for a life of deceit. The princess's survival solely comes from her ability to “doublespeak”.
“I see your promise. You are made of self-mettle. Although your blunt tongue may mar your fortunes sooner before you could gaze upon His Majesty, I wish to prescribe you with new duties.”
She took a deep breath.
“This directive shall not be withdrawn in the name of the Divine Dragon. Leaf, a young knight from the Valley of Gaciea who will shortly be appointed retainer to the Royal Highness, Princess (F/n), kneels before me. Until the end of time, he shall be my sword, and I will be his master. Will you keep your word and uphold the oath— the promise?”
“I will.”
Not a moment did he hesitate. Not for a second did he think there was more to life than this. It was nearly bitter. His life sounded so simple to her tongue.
But it was a contract nonetheless.
A promise that must be fulfilled.
Tumblr media
“I find myself stirred in restless days without you my by side. You haunted me so diligently this past 500 or so years.”
“Humor me, won’t you… my b-beloved?”
“Why have you hid away from me? Why did I have to find you in this state? Furred and mute. Didn’t you take a breath to think about how much your pain would mean a greater weight for me? Have you not a second thought about how much it pains me to see you like this— bearing the fangs of the abyss and the claws of the cursed…?”
“The only sigh of relief I can release is that at least in this new sky, Ongri— no, he calls himself Zhongli these days— would get between us no more.”
“This new fairy tale… For how long do you expect me to keep this promise, (Y/n)? How many more stories must we get through for us to reach a happy ending?”
“Please… I’m begging you… Say something!!!”
“…”
“… Speak… Please… Anything…”
“Tell me about our past rendezvous. Seduce me with your musings. Anything… can't you try, just for this special day?”
“Please… don’t turn your mask away from me…”
Tumblr media
“Do you find time to flow as quick as the waters by the stream? I am inclined to believe this sentiment. I find it astonishing that we’ve spent eleven or so moonshines joined at a hip. Time ages us but we are none the wiser.”
Leaf grunted, heaving Princess (F/n)’s inventory as she spoke. He didn’t seem distressed by the weight and his princess appeared not at all troubled as well. At least, that what it seemed on the surface. Royals must make their superiority known. Leaf knew (F/n) wanted to also carry some of the bags, but he refused.
There were several notions Leaf refused that noon. When (F/n) entertained the thought of going out as herself and by herself, he disapproved with haste. Leaf had to know where she’s going, who she was going with, what she’s going to wear— just about everything. His voice alone overwhelmed the princess enough that you’d mistake him for the king. The knight practically ordered what she would wear and what route she’d have to take if she wished to see the ongoing festival.
Being herself was a safety hazard and being alone by herself was a death wish.
To his eyes, at least. He had always been a twinge too overprotective.
It was a hectic morning with a picture-perfect, almost cliche scene of bustling streets and frolicking kids on a medieval setting. While children would swerve around adults' legs to avoid getting tagged, adults walked slowly to hear each gossip. One kid had nearly hit the princess herself, but Leaf would not allow it.
Leaf pulled (F/n) away by putting an arm over her waist. The smell of her sweet perfume surprised him. Her smell reminded him of the forest. For the knight who professed to guard her innocence, her warm body lightly pressed against his was a fleeting but almost immoral moment. He set her down slowly, gasping quietly. The princess chose not to draw attention to the troubled expression on her most reliable retainer.
It was better not to acknowledge his growing romantic interests.
To her, he is only a sword.
Even if he is a friend, at the end of the day, he’s only a weapon to be used.
The princess quickly pulled the cape down further to hide her face— mostly her ears. For reasons unknown to him, she seemed to find that part of herself worthy of great insecurity.
He cleared his throat, face dusted in a pink hue.
“You say that time affects you, but you haven’t aged a day.”
The princess laughed.
“Finally, a compliment from a man as stoic as you? Oh, what a day to rejoice!”
Leaf shook his head with a small smile.
“I had given you one on several occasions.”
“That may be true, but random bouts of flattery from you are scarce.” The princess hummed. “I vaguely recall how getting anything out of you was like trying to get a frozen little duckling to quack. Who am I? Your mother duck?”
The smirk on his face was quick, but (F/n) definitely saw it.
Several staff once questioned Leaf’s ability to speak. Many, including (F/n)’s father, were convinced he was mute. Everyone in the castle knew of the princess’s peculiar tastes and thought Leaf’s recruitment was a mere byproduct. His masked appearance and strange scars added more fuel to those rumors. When Leaf defended (F/n) from another assassination attempt in front of the king and inquired about her condition, King Regan nearly toppled from where he stood.
After being bombarded with questions, Leaf merely said he refrained from speaking since he saw no use if he wasn't talking to the princess herself. (F/n) still finds it absurd that she has to give orders for him to talk to other people.
For Leaf, it was simple: he just didn’t see the point of forming other interpersonal relationships.
(F/n) was the only one that mattered in his eyes.
Only her.
Only she is worthy to serve and protect.
“You truly are like a little duckling following his mother’s tail,” Princess (F/n) sighed. “But you have vastly improved in our time together. That, I can commend.”
“Thank you, Your Highness.” Leaf laughed softly, mocking her tone in his signature subtle way. “Oh, what a day to rejoice.”
She playfully gave him an elbow nudge. “Do not copy me, Leaf.”
“My apologies.”
Princess (F/n) was meandering around because the harvest festival was drawing closer. With her own eyes, the princess intended to see how her people were faring. Rarely did she change into a more "common" outfit and styled her hair with simplicity. Though, if you were to ask Leaf, seeing her in her most simple clothes made her far more youthful than the garbs and crown that wrinkles her smile to a frown.
“Madame, would you be interested in buying your lover here a brooch?”
Both of them stilled as a merchant called out. The undercover royal pointed to herself.
“Yes, yes, of course I’m talking to you, gorgeous!” The merchant grinned. He had silver hair that slightly covered one of his blue eyes. “Do you want matching rings instead? We’re selling for fifty percent off!”
Leaf’s gaze was stern. Despite his reservations, he knew the merchant as Alfstan, another young knight who hailed from a family of vendors. Two moonshines ago, Leaf was (forcefully) placed on training duty and had the fortune of mentoring this aspiring knight.
Mind you— nothing was particularly dubious of his wares. Leaf just simply despised having another man brazenly take your attention away. He did not find their previous exchanges pleasant. Not when Alfstan often joked about replacing his position one day.
What hubris.
While he busied himself glaring at the poor man, the princess awkwardly laughed and dismissively waved a hand. “Oh, no, he and I— we are not—”
“Haha, I know, I was just pulling your leg, Your Highness.” Alfstan grinned, giving Leaf a quick nod. “Morning, Sir Leaf! Were you showing the princess around?”
“Shhh! Be quiet!” (F/n)'s eyes widened.
He protectively wrapped an arm around (F/n) again, this time far more confidently.
“Yes.” Leaf spoke, voice as solid as his resolve.
“Mind if I tag along?”
His stare sharpened. “I would very much mind, now return to your stall.”
The princess shook her head, poorly judging her retainer’s possessive words as acts of protection. Instead, she dwelled on their attire. “Drats, was our disguise that fragile?”
Alfstan assessed her from top to bottom, which made Leaf even more tense. “Eh, you’re really gorgeous that no cloak can hide your beauty, Your Highness.”
“I have to agree,” Leaf said stiffly, clearing his throat. “Perhaps I should hide her in a hay sack. WIthout your prying eyes.”
(F/n) raised an eyebrow. “And what? And be suspected of kidnapping me instead?”
Leaf shrugged. “Does that sound like an offense I would commit?”
Alfstan rolled his eyes. “Well, obviously. Besides, the only way you wouldn’t get caught is if you hid her in something as small as a teapot.”
And he would be right. But it will take eons to prove those suspicions as truth.
“Going back to your wares, Sir Alfstan,” (F/n) digressed. “These iron-framed tassels, are they made by your hand?”
Alfstan's respect for the princess grew.
“Yes, how did you come up with that conclusion? Most passersby believed I had ‘em commissioned from the East.”
(F/n) smiled crookedly. Leaf caught a glimpse of discomfort, but it was gone in a bat of an eye.
“I… I admire your skill with molding iron.” To the untrained ear, (F/n) sounded flustered and embarrassed. To Leaf, he was certain that she was unsure of herself. “It is commendable, how you smith your very own weapons, that is. I know many of our soldiers come to you when their blades are chipped.”
“You’ve heard of my skills?!” Alfstan beamed proudly. “Really?!”
The princess nodded. “Y-Yes…”
It was odd. Despite her high praise, her wariness remained. She looked at the blonde man. “He had also made your new Ulfberht sword too, right? It certainly pierces much better than his old one.”
Leaf didn’t bother with a reply, Alfstan made it for him.
“Yes, Your Highness. I thought it would make for a thoughtful birthday present!”
“Speaking of presents…” The princess gazed down, analyzing the items he sold once more. “What do you recommend as a gift for someone important?”
If Alfstan was elated by her earlier compliments, he could practically jump over the moon at her newest proposition.
“Oh? OH?!?”
Leaf gave (F/n) a strict yet gentle glare.
“Your Highness…”
“I still won’t let it slide!” (F/n) huffed. “I couldn’t possibly be satisfied with just new sets of armor. Alfstan, by my order, suggest a pleasant gift for the stubborn knight beside me.”
“On it!”
Without delay, the two bent down to select the ideal accessory for the man who vehemently refused. Alfstan was the only one touching the gems and (F/n) refrained from doing so. Tiny flecks of gold and iron infused the tassels, but she feared she would handle the stones carelessly.
Leaf palmed his face with one hand as the two chattered. Still, despite Leaf’s disapproving looks, he finds (F/n)’s enthusiasm to make him happy a wonderful notion in itself. To think that (F/n) would continue to insist on a present for a birthday that had since passed… She was more stubborn than he was.
“So troublesome…” He muttered with a soft smile. “I see no point in this, Princess (F/n). Serving you is a miracle enough itself—”
“Halt! Speak no more, Sir Leaf!” (F/n) exclaimed. “There! That one, Alfstan— that gem resembles his eyes, does it not?!”
“You have great tastes, Princess (F/n)!” Alfstan nodded eagerly like a motivated student. “That does look like his shade of blue— and so quick to find it among the pile, too! Are you sure you’re not some sort of custodian of natural treasures?”
Princess (F/n)’s awkward and stifled laughter can be heard again.
“What? Haha, what nonsense.” She shook her head. “Everyone calls me Princess (F/n), any other name would surely sound terrifying and mismatched.”
A nonanswer, but that made the conversation more humorous.
“Here you go!”
Alfstan reached his hand out with the tassel. (F/n) stared at him, silent and unsure. He blinked and snapped his fingers.
“Oh, right, you need a box— my deepest apologies, I was too caught up in the moment!”
The princess sighed in relief.
Leaf crossed his arms. “You’re doing well for your first time setting up a stall, Alfstan.”
“This isn’t my first and you know it, Sir!”
(F/n) laughed.
The merchant wrapped the gift she brought with care. The hush looms large around them as the merchant boastfully goes about his business, his tone comforting to her ears. The Princess walks over to the gift box once the merchant has finished. She can't help but smile because she can feel the tassel inside.
“Not exactly a surprise since Sir Leaf is here, but the packaging adds some charm, right?” Alfstan asked.
The princess couldn’t hold back a smile as she looked at the knight behind her.
“I think most of the charm comes from the person who’ll receive it,” (F/n) chuckled.
“Don’t you think so, Leaf?”
Tumblr media
She wouldn’t know. And she’d never know a lot of things.
She never got the chance to ask her most precious knight if he liked that gift.
And she never will. No matter how many days, months, years, centuries— eons Leaf would wait, he would never hear the princess ask that same question again after this.
It would not matter if he was a judge, a prince, a knight, or a mere animal— it did not matter how many sweet new styles he would take. In the end, his arms will always be empty. Everything was pre-ordained. Dying in his arms, whether it’s slow and painful or mercilessly quick— will remain as the last line. He will always hold on to your corpse, warmth draining.
This was your fate, (F/n)— no, (Y/n) (L/n).
This was just the first of many branches of the Irminsul. The first of its many reiterations, possibilities, or better yet, alternate tales or "universal resets".
Princess "(F/n)" coughed, wetting the side of her lips.
"I haven't been able to p-personally attach that tassel on your s-sword, b-but… but I can spare you enough seconds to fly away…"
"Don't make haste!" Leaf gritted his teeth as he applied some pressure down her stomach. "This is not your decision to make!"
She didn't reply to his desperation, but she silently disagreed.
In her palm was the tassel, out of its box. The blue threads darkened with the taints of her blood. The metallic scent was nauseating. It weaved in a disorganized fashion around her fingers.
What a beautiful and tragic loom of fate, to love someone you were bound to hold with ruin.
It would’ve hurt less if it weren’t in his colors too.
"This marks the worst day of my life," the “princess” smiled, tucking the stray hair behind Leaf's face. "And even if given the opportunity, I wouldn't dare c-change not even a minute detail about it."
As if she— as if you— have the power to change destiny.
You're not a descender.
You're just a pawn.
That's when Leaf realized how fragile life ultimately was. With the curse undoing itself, he recalled and reflected on his animal days. He understood the Divine Dragon's intense frustration over a lowly duckling's will to perish. The curse of becoming human meant knowing the greed men had, but also the beauty of their kindness.
His small bird heart was not meant for this much sorrow. His life was meant to be simple. To learn that he was not a duck, but a swan.
How was he supposed to cope that the woman he had sworn to protect was not human, but a fae?
Everyone in the kingdom knew that the king would sooner disclaim his paternity than allow the crown princess (F/n) to truly lead— but they never had any real reason to support the king for this. The princess’s words were always more kind and ponderous than that of her supposed father’s. They thought him mad. They thought him deplorable. They thought him old and senile.
But he would not be king if he were not sharp.
Why, oh why, would the princess make great efforts to constantly hide her ears? Why would the princess utter roundabout ways in speaking her “own” name? Most of all, why would the princess fear the touch of iron?
There was a simple answer: she was not the princess, but a liar.
And yet, Leaf was the sole person who did not care, for he thought himself as the worst sinner or “quack” in comparison.
The kingdom won't learn the full truth for some time after this, but the fae made a bargain with the real princess. The real princess would elope with a farm boy and, in return, the fae would take her name. The trade was not malevolent. The two women were secret friends since childhood and neither wished the other harm.
But the townsfolks had little patience. They would sooner throw pebbles and stones than kneel for a false princess.
The moral of the story, like most Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales, was simple: virtue will be rewarded, iniquity will be punished. The storytellers do not care beyond that, no matter how dark it sounds to the children who will hear it. The fae lied, therefore the kingdom shall rightfully punish her.
They better thank the dragon they oh-so admire that the court fae did not think themselves evil. They better sleep soundly, knowing that they have slaughtered a well-intentioned guardian.
For he will not and never will.
Not even with a change of title, name, and universe. Whether the land he walked on was called Gaciea, Fodlan, Belobog, the Continental, or Teyvat— what the world steals from him, he promised to take back.
There the two were, back to where it started. The same forest and patch of land where the bear had attacked her. Fate had a funny way of telling tales. Leaf can only scoff at how unimaginative it could be, sometimes.
Why couldn’t fate think of more comfortable deathbeds for the one he loved?
"You cannot allow this! I cannot allow this!" The knight gritted his teeth. "You will not die— you cannot die. You and I have a promise… You cannot break that one promise!!!”
“(F/n)” grinned.
The look in her eyes disturbed him.
She knew. It is finished. She knew that it was the last page of the book. Just living in these immortalized pages for the fae was well worth the want she had wanted.
“Consummatum est.”
Consummatum est….
Leaf gasped shakily.
“Did my life… even have meaning to you as well?”
Her expression was enough to tell him the words “who knows?” She surely did not. Her mind was buzzing and her thoughts were fizzling out. No one knows anymore. Maybe the Divine Dragon would but he would not accept any offering or prayers for these two heretics.
This is fine… He’ll forget his tears soon, surely…
He’s only a sword at her side… She never asked him to be anything more…
He should be okay, once she’s gone…
She grinned, lifelessly tracing her thumb across his cheeks. The curse is undone. The loom of fate was slowly disintegrating. Soon enough, he shall return to his original form. That of an animal. That of an ugly duckling. That of a swan who will forget his human memories.
It is finished.
On the book’s final page, there is only ever a fae’s corpse and an elegant bird watching over them. With its wings clipped back, curiously watching the light leave their eyes, he will return to the nearby riverbanks and forget what had happened. As retribution for stealing another’s identity, there will be no one left to remember who she truly was.
And that was all there was to it.
With the fae banished, the Kingdom of Gaciea lived happily ever after. THE END.
Tumblr media
Dainsleif closed the book and lovingly looked at the “person” beside him in bed. He stroked the “person”’s light brown hair— its color reminiscent of the bear he had slain in his first life.  It’s a shame he had to reunite with you in this condition. But it’s not like he would stop loving you. He doesn’t care if you’re a fae, a sinner—
Or a hilichurl.
He scooted closer beside you.
"So, does the story ring any bells, my beloved?"
Zhongli, upon recalling what happened and the curse he had inflicted on both of you to fulfill some children’s fairy tale, sought the “ugly duckling” and the “false princess”. Retired as he is, he cannot undo the fate you must play nor terminate his contract with Celestia. For consolation, he merely offered the Khaenri’ahn a teapot. Unlike the Chasm, the teapot was forever peaceful and serene. The brightness of lumenstone ores was not as comforting as the adeptal light that peeks through the drapes. This is your current place of residence. Whether you liked it or not.
"To think Nicole would entail the story of our past life." He laughed softly. "And these names... Hah... Are those the best she could conjure up to bypass possible erasure…? I suppose I should still thank her for her best efforts. I can see how challenging it would be to document our story, given how we lived through so many resets."
There’s a slice of cake paired with wooden utensils on the nightstand. If your mind had not deteriorated, you might’ve assumed they were gifts from the aforementioned Nicole and the Geo Archon. Unfortunately, forming a coherent thought required a mental fortitude akin to iron. You currently do not have such willpower.
“Alfstan— no… Halfdan was right. There will come a time that he’d protect you from harm and not I…” Dainsleif mumbled defeatedly, his eyes burning with tears he couldn’t let out. Far too tired to dwell on it. “He must’ve forgotten his old jests in his previous life because as far as he’s concerned, he’s simply doing his duty as a Black Serpent Knight…”
He pecked your forehead, closing his eyes.
"Did you remember, my beloved? Vacation may not have any business being in my vocabulary but it is my birthday today…" Dainsleif leaned his forehead against the cold stone that covered your face. "I know you— do not feel guilty over your lack of gifts. It is not as if I bothered to count my age since the cataclysm. I didn't want to celebrate this occasion for the past five centuries. Not when you weren't at my side..."
The blonde man turned his gaze to the floor.
How many times will he have to “reincarnate” just to see a happy ending for the both of you?
"Happy birthday… to me…" He sang weakly. "Happy birthday to me…"
The man— the former sentimental judge— the former tyrant prince— the former "ugly duckling"— and now the current bough keeper, observer of fate in this new fairy tale, trembled…
“Happy birthday, happy birthday…”
… And sobbed.
You, in your ungreedy husk of a body, tilted your head in innocence. Pain coursed through every nerve now that the Abyss Order’s cleansing equipment broke. The man before you was no different from the shadows you fought and hid from that would terrorize the dark and cold places in the Chasm you’ve instinctively called home. But somewhere deep down, you carried a complex weight that hilichurls wouldn’t normally have.
That weight was a human emotion dubbed as "pity."
You pitied the shadow that loomed and embraced you.
And your lone reluctant arm that wrapped around him was enough to make him fully break down.
His throat constricted as he cried into your inhuman shoulders. Your scent was like that of a wet duckling, and he preferred that over the blood that disgraced your form several "fairy tales" ago. Dainsleif caressed the golden band on his finger. It was the most important ring between the two that Pari Zurvan found him clutching whilst unconscious in the wilderness.
At the very least, you were safe.
And you being alive today was a good enough present for him.
You tilted your head down, feeling his warmth one last time while Dainsleif took a deep breath, singing with more air than a proper tune.
Though it was barely discernible, he could just about make out the words you muttered a phrase from the old language of Khaenri'ah. Or at least, he deluded himself that that was the case. In his catatonic mind, you spoke the words:
Happy birthday, my beloved.
"H-Happy birthday to me…"

OK kinda a specific request but like- could you do a Scara x fem!reader or gn!reader where he’s like overworking himself due to his studies(probably bc of his mommy issues sjsjks) and reader is like comforting and convincing him to go to sleep w her/them since it was late? Modern au ofc. And basically Scaramouche is being all stingy about it like “no I’m fine” and stuff but eventually goes to bed because of readers sweet words haha
Tumblr media
Of m y god this ones adorablw i love soft scara THANK UU!!
╰⪼ “fine, for you." ♡
╰ — scaramoucheˊˊ」
╎『modern au!ˎˎ
[fluff] — 『warnings: workaholic scara, soft scara again (i swear these arent real warnings), cursing, scara mommy issues, readers pronouns arent used, but feminine body type』
Tumblr media
It has already been a long week for you and Scaramouche, school was a pain in the ass, as well was studying. You would usually be studying at the schools library with friends, or mainly with your boyfriend, Scaramouche. But even with you being done with everything, he continued studying, alone.
It was late at night, around one in the morning, you had just finished some chores since you didn't have much to do, and you weren't tired then. But now you were, all the chores you did worn you out. You thought your lover jad already gone to sleep or is possibly waiting for you, but once you entered your twos' bedroom with a tired yawn, you saw Scaramouche still at the desk, focused.
'he's still studying?..' you thought to yourself, slowly walking over to your lover who seemed too focused to even notice your there. But with a gentle pat on his shoulder, he flinched slightly, then turned to look at you with tired eyes. "[yn]? Why aren't you in bed?" he asked, rubbing his eyes as his other hand still held a pen between his slender fingers.
"Shouldn't i be asking you the same thing?" you replied with a raised eyebrow, looking at Scaramouches own eyes that seemed to already have eyebags under them, his eyelids drooping as he forced himself to stay awake. "shit," he mumbled "you go, ill join you later. I have to finish this shit." with a groan, he turned back to studying, his eyes trying to soak in every word he reads from the book, and writing the more important things down.
You sighed, a bit frustrated now. "Scaramouche, please, finish it tomorrow, you look like you're barely awake." you pat his head, running your fingers through his dark indigo locks. You just loved him too much to let him overwork himself like this, he needs to be getting enough sleep. "Cant you fucking see i cant? This is important, alright? Do you think i wanna fucking do this either?" he groaned, frustrated with how long he's studied, and barely able to focus with his sleepiness. But seeing how he was a bit too mean to you, he mumbled "... Shit, im sorry. Love, please just go to bed, im fine."
he rubbed his eyes yet again as you replied "not without you. If im going to sleep right now, ill make sure you're right beside me.", you crossed your arms below your chest, glaring at your boyfriend. Why must you be so persistent? He cant even get his studies done with you like this. "I told you im fine, plus ill be in bed soon anyway." he put his hand on your hip, still reading over the words he's trying to memorize. His hand caressed your hip, then went around your thighs to pull you close. "There will be no later, come on." you groaned, too worried about your overworked lover.
"mmh, so soft..." the male mumbled, pressing his head against your stomach, to where he could reach since he was sitting down and you were standing up. He used your stomach as a head rest while reading. His hand still caressed your plush thighs. "Yeah? U can hug me all you want when we're in bed." you smirked, seeing how this was actually working. He narrowed his eyes, very tempted. After all, he could just finish this tomorrow, right? No big deal? Tomorrow he promises himself to study with you.
"fucking fine... Lets go. You better keep your word." he finally gave up, standing up lazily as the both of you walked to bed. He quite literally threw himself on the bed while you followed by doing it the.. safer way. He groaned as soon as he stretched his back, cramped from being in the same position. Now he gets his reward. You.
He lazily wrapped his arms around you, nuzzling his face into your neck, all while you held him in your arms. You did scold him a little for overworking himself, to which he only giggled and said "oops".
And he fell asleep almost immediately...

Hey could you write batfam x male reader who is Jason's secret brother? Like batfam as in Bruce, dick, Jason, Tim and Damian, and like after Jason's death and resurrection they finally figure out that Jason had an older brother? Jason hardly remebers him because 1. He died and his memories are a bit fuzzy and 2. He was very young when he last saw his brother. I feel like the male reader took care of Jason, but at some point to try and give Jason a better life he left for sile shady work that promised a good amount of money, that would help Jason stay afloat? And after the batfam find out they obviously try to find him, and Bruce obviously tries to adopt him (even if he's an adult) so he can be reunited with his brother
yes yes yesssss. I was just going to write headcanons but I ended up with too many ideas so have a mini fic! I don't have the best grasp on the whole resurrection part coz I haven't read under the red so that'll be a bit vague. I'm so sorry this took so long. I got crazy writers block but here it is. Tell me if you want more of them or like headcanons because I'm lowkey obsessed with Jason having an older brother.
—————————————————————————
"Hey Bruce, why isn't Jason the first Todd that comes up when you look up Todd death report?" Dick asked as he walked into the Batcave and sat down on the table behind Bruce.
Bruce turned to look at him and raised an eyebrow. He had no idea what his son was talking about as he'd never looked up the reports. He knew his son had died and he hadn't wanted to know anything more. He'd failed his son, and he didn't want to be reminded of it.
"He's the only Todd I'm aware of," Bruce turned his chair around and looked at his eldest son, "Jason doesn't have any relatives."
Dick turned his laptop around and right at the top of the report, it said Y/N Todd. The cause of death just said explosion and body not found.
"Does that sound suspicious to you as well, Bruce?" Dick asked as he leaned forwards slightly.
"Go ask Tim to look more into it," Bruce turned his chair back around, "and don't tell Jason. We've only just got him to stay so there's no need to spook him."
Dick nodded and then walked out of the Batcave.
                                                        ~~~~~~~~~
A few days had passed, and Dick hadn’t brought it up to Bruce again. He had gone and asked Tim though and sworn him to secrecy. He didn’t talk to Jason much, so it wasn’t that hard anyways.
Jason was sitting in the library when Dick came in and seemed to be second guessing himself.
“You don’t read,” Jason said bluntly without looking up from his copy of Pride and Prejudice.
“I totally read,” Dick stumbled through the sentence as he walked over and sat down on an armchair opposite from Jason, “What are you reading anyways?”
Jason looked up at him, confused. What the fuck is Dick on, was all he was thinking. Dick was being nice, and he was normally nice, but this was awkward. This was like the same level of awkward he’d been for the first few days that Jason had been living at Wayne Manor. He had been so confident but also such a nervous wreck.
“Pride and Prejudice. Did you get sprayed with some drug on patrol?” Jason asked as he looked his older brother up and down.
“Nope nopity nope. I just wanted to hang out with you,” Dick said as though that explained why he was more skittish than a newborn kitten.
Jason nodded and then went back to reading. “I don’t remember him that much,” he said offhandedly as Dick went to stand up.
“How did you-” Dick said as he swung around and almost tripped over his feet.
“Tim talks a lot when he’s tired and you’re holding a coffee that he so desperately wants,” Jason replied with a shrug.
Dick’s jaw dropped. “You’re not mad that I’m snooping in your business? When you were little, I touched one of your first edition books and you cried for days.”
Jason’s head turned to look at Dick in two seconds flat. “I what?”
Dick’s eyebrow raised as he stared blankly at his little brother. “You don’t remember?”
The two of them stood silently as they processed what had been said. Jason hadn’t thought he’d lost that much. Dick hadn’t realized that either. He hadn’t realized Jason had lost anything. They didn’t talk much. Talking hurts and they’re both fragile which is seeming to be a trend in this family. (Bruce pay for therapy challenge???)
They stayed in silence for a few minutes before the door opened again and Damian walked in.
“Tim snitched. Your brother worked for some gang guy in Star City until he somehow quit. He’s back in Gotham for the next two weeks staying with,” Damian looked down at his phone and raised an eyebrow, “Selina?”
“How does Tim still keep his identity secret? Wait, so like dads on-off girlfriend, Selina?” Dick asked as he looked at their youngest brother with his eyebrows raised.
“Do we know any other Selinas, big bird?” Jason asked as his head swivelled to look in Dicks direction again.
Dick shrugged and seemed to be thinking. “So, we could just call Selina and ask about your mysterious brother?” He said observantly.
Damian sighed in frustration. “Yes, lets just call up Selina and ask her if she’s hosting Jason’s supposed to be dead brother!”
“It’s a good idea,” Dick tried to protest as he looked to Jason for backup. Jason raised his hands as if to say nope don’t involve me.
“No, it’s not. It’s really surprising that you’re not father’s actual son. You’re both stupid,” Damian replied as he scrolled on his phone until he found what he was looking for. His face lit up and he showed the screen. “There’s a gala on tomorrow. Selinas bound to go just to flirt with father, and she’ll probably take Y/N.”
“Ok, that is a better idea than mine,” Dick muttered as he crossed his arms and sulked.
“All of demon brats ideas are better than yours, Dickybird,” Jason said as he sat back down and reopened his book.
                                                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The night of the gala couldn’t come quick enough. Bruce was sitting at the kitchen table in his suit a good hour before they had to go and at that point, he wished he’d hadn’t broken his earbuds the day before. Jason and Tim were shouting at each other in the main first floor bathroom and Damian was about to tackle Dick for making him wear a blue tie. Cass and Steph were on a video chat with Barbs because she was currently at a tech conference so couldn’t make it.
Five minutes before they had to leave, Damian ran out of some room with Dick chasing him. Jason and Tim both tried to run out of the bathroom door at the same time, so Tim slammed into the wall. Steph and Cass walked calmy into the kitchen and laughed at the boys running rampant. Duke had offered to go on patrol solely because he didn’t want to go to the gala.
They all left the mansion and clambered into multiple cars.
                                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The gala was bustling, and Bruce made his entrance followed by his entourage of children. The questions started up, but all Jason could think about was whether his older brother was there. Dick was standing close to him and swatting away any stuffy aristocrats who wanted to say how much he looked like the Wayne son who had died as a child.
Tim dragged his feet across the gala to where Dick and Jason were standing. He flopped onto the chair next to Jason and slammed his head down onto the table.
“No coffee?” Dick asked as he leaned against the wall and death stared another aristocrat who wanted their weekly Wayne drama fix.
“When have any of these events ever had coffee and I’m too young to drink and also Y/N is at the bar,” Tim rambled as he sat up straight and rubbed sleep out of his eyes.
“You’re like 18, I was drinking from like 15,” Jason started before his brain caught up with the whole sentence, “The bar?”
Tim nodded and fell forwards again. Dick put his hand out at a speed that could rival Wally and caught his younger brothers head. He nodded at Jason who jumped out of his chair and started briskly walking towards the bar.
At the bar, there sat a guy who looked to be in his 30s with bright red hair. A champagne glass was seated in front of him, and he was staring off into space.
Jason walked over and sat down next to him. He didn’t say anything but instead asked the bartender for a gin and tonic and glanced next to him. Y/N looked just like the fuzzy memories he had of him.
“You new around here?” Jason asked as he waited for the bartender to finish his drink.
The guy who was most likely his older brother didn’t say anything in response. He just sighed and sipped his champagne.
“Haven’t seen you at one of these before. You, uh, came with Ms Kyle?”
The guy gave him a nod in response as he rolled up his sleeves slightly. Jason looked down and saw the burn scar from when they’d been making pasta when he was little. His jaw dropped slightly before he recovered quickly. This was absolutely his older brother so what was he supposed to do now?
“I’m Jason Wayne,” he said so as to not spook Y/N.
“Y/N Todd,” Y/N glanced at Jason, “You look like someone I used to know. Have we met before?”
Jason laughed nervously. “If you’ve come to a gala before, probably.”
“Yeah, probably,” Y/N stood up from the chair, “Well I think Selina wanted an early night so I should go. Nice meeting you.”
Jason sighed as his older brother walked away. He downed his gin and tonic before standing up and walking over to where Dick was still sitting with Tim. He sat down on a free chair and leaned his head on the table.
“So?” Dick asked cautiously as he moved his hand out from under Tim’s forehead.
“He’s my brother,” Jason said tiredly.
Dick gasped and leaned in closer. “So, what you going to do about that, little bird?”
“No idea,” Jason said as he sighed.
                                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few days later, Jason was sitting in the library again when Tim ran inside. Jason looked up from his book and raised an eyebrow expectantly.
“He’s been spotted. Cass saw him. Dick’s waiting for you at Wayne Industries,” Tim said out of breath.
Jason placed his book down and ran out of the library. He sprinted down to the Batcave and got changed into his suit. He ran to his bike and pulled out of the cave. He drove down the highways and roads and felt the wind pushing against him. It felt just like how when he was younger, and it was just him and his older brother against the world. He flew down streets and side alleys. He pulled up in front of Wayne Industries and saw Dick sitting on a brick wall nearby. Their comms crackled to life.
“Cass has him and Selina on the roof of Wayne Industries, come on,” Dick said before he ran at the building and started scaling it.
Jason followed suite. The two of them made it to the top in record time and looked around. Cass waved from where she was standing and chatting to Selina. Jason’s older brother was leaning against the staircase door with a frown on his face as he glanced around.
Jason watched him for a moment. He had red hair just like how he did when he didn’t dye it. He was wearing a leather jacket like he did. He had a mask on which resembled the Robin one but not fully. It looked more like a masquerade mask. He was wearing boots, a pair that looked like ones Jason remembered sitting by their childhood apartments door. His older brother looked just like he remembered but also nothing like the teenager he’d idolized.
There was a scar above his eye. There was a necklace around his neck with a black rock. His hair was short and clipped, unlike when they were younger,
 and it sat above his shoulders. He looked so grumpy. Jason had never seen his older brother look that annoyed. He’d always been patient and kind.
“Selina, can we go? I didn’t come all this way just to stand around and chat with your boytoys kids,” Y/N said loudly, interrupting Jason’s thoughts.
Selina turned from Cass and scoffed. “Yeah, you came so far, all the way from Star City and your sad little retail job,” she said sarcastically before turning back to Cass.
Y/N rolled his eyes and finally noticed Jason and Dick. “He has more? How many of you vigilantes are there? Does he grow you in like a lab?”
“One of us was actually,” Dick said as he took a step forward, so he stood in front of Jason, once a protective big brother, always a protective big brother.
“Long story? Yeah, I’m getting used to that,” Y/N shook his head before he glanced at Jason, “What you staring at me like that for?”
Jason tilted his head slightly before taking off his helmet which caused Dick to groan.
“Secret identities, little bird,” Dick said annoyed as he slapped his forehead.
“Oh, shut up,” Jason stepped around Dick, “It’s me, Jason.”
Y/N took a step back and slammed against the wall. “You’re dead.”
Cass turned from where she was talking to Selina and rolled her eyes before resuming their conversation.
“Surprise?” Jason said with jazz hands. “I think we’ve got a lot to talk about.”
Y/N nodded and took off his mask. “Yeah, I think we do.”
                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two weeks later…
Y/N, Bruce and Jason were sitting around the manor’s dining table. Bruce was leaned forwards and staring Y/N down. Jason was leaned back and smiling. He hadn’t stopped since he got Y/N back. Y/N looked like he was about to run out of the room.
“Jason, tell your creepy dad he can’t adopt me. I’m a grown ass man who isn’t going anywhere anyways,” He said as he scooted his chair slightly further away from Bruce.
“Hey, he’s still trying to figure out if he can adopt me and I’m legally dead,” Jason said as he raised his hands in mock surrender.
“So am I!” His brother replied exasperatedly.
“I already adopted you, Jason,” Bruce leaned back in his chair, “Found a technicality.”
Jason turned quickly to face his dad. “Ok, you cannot just drop that in conversation, old man.”
Bruce stood up from his chair. “I’m not even 50 yet. You’ve gotta stop calling me that.”
Jason smiled and shook his head. “I’ll call you what I want, Bruce.”
Bruce smiled to himself and walked out of the room. The older Todd leaned closer to Jason and smiled.
“Your family is weird, Jase,” he said with a chuckle.
“Our family actually, big brother,” Jason said with a wide grin as he stood up from his chair. “Wanna go for a ride?”
His big brother jumped out of his chair and smiled. “I bet my bike goes faster than yours.”
The two of them ran towards the manors front door with the widest grins.
Up on the staircase, Bruce stood as he watched them with a smile. Alfred walked up behind him with a smile and tapped him on the shoulder.
“You must stop adopting all these children, Master Bruce,” he said quietly.
“He makes Jason happy, doesn’t he?” Bruce asked.
Alfred pondered for a moment before replying.
“Yes, he does, Master Bruce. That doesn’t mean Master Jason doesn’t still need his father though,” Alfred said, his voice full of care and love for the two of them.
Bruce nodded as he heard the motorbikes start outside. He then smiled and walked off to attend to his work.
Reunion
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x reader
Word count: ~4.3k
Summary: You and Wanda attend your high school reunion.
A/N: This was fun to write. Wanda gets kinda mad. It’s so cute. Part one of the  jealous Wanda series.
Warnings: jealousy😈, thoughts of violence, fluff
Going to your 15-year high school reunion sounded unappealing anyway you thought about it. You hadn’t really liked high school because of how stressful it was, and how mean people could be. You didn’t remember it fondly and when the phone call came one day, and the emailed invitation the next, Wanda found you in the kitchen scowling at your computer.
After a long discussion, Wanda had convinced you to at least give it a shot. She’d promised to take time off to go with you, and given that it was almost all the way across the country, it would be a three-day trip. The appeal of spending time away with your wife was much higher than that of going to your high school reunion, but you decided to worry about this later. You’d left Boone with Yelena, and Fletcher would get a couple of visits a day from Steve while you were gone, so they would barely miss your absence.
Right now, as you sit beside Wanda as she drives you through an unfamiliar part of the airport, you’re very confused. You look to your wife who takes off her sunglasses with a sigh before turning down a road that leads dangerously close to the runways.
“Uh, Wands.”
You’re supposed to catch your flight soon, but Wanda had driven you both somewhere that doesn’t seem anywhere close to the terminal. She smiles at you before realizing that you look a little worried, but she doesn’t have to wonder about it long as you voice your concerns hesitantly.
“Why are we here? Don’t we have to catch our flight soon?”
Wanda simply smiles at you as she turns down one last road and pulls into a small garage. You’re too focused on the plane that you drive by and you’re staring at it with an impressed look as Wanda explains what’s happening. You’d told her about your reservations about this trip, and she’d wanted to make everything as stress free as possible for you both. For this reason, she’d dealt with organizing your travel and your hotel room. You were just along for the ride until the reunion.
“We’re here, detka. This is our ride.”
Your head whips back around toward your wife as your jaw drops in bewilderment. You must have heard her wrong because Wanda definitely wasn’t saying what you thought she was. You followed her lead and got out of the car before peeking out of the garage at the damn jet that was not twenty feet from you.
“I’m sorry, what?”
Wanda smirks as she opens the trunk and grabs your bags before handing you your backpack with a smile. She reaches out to push your chin up to close your still gaping mouth, and she can’t help but chuckle under her breath.
“This is one of my planes.”
Wanda walks toward the jet where you now see someone is coming out to meet her. He looks like a pilot, but you can’t even comprehend this right now as you chase after your wife. You had so many questions, but the first one that you asked was arguably the most relevant.
“What do you mean you have a jet?”
Wanda smiles before she grabs your hand so you can meet the pilot and then the small three-person crew that will be with you on this flight. They offer to take your luggage, and you’re too stunned to protest as you follow Wanda up the stairs into the plane you’ll apparently be taking to Miami.
“It’s not just mine, or ours rather, but I made sure we could use it so we can enjoy the trip.”
Wanda leaves out the little detail of her not being able to fly commercially like you. She’s a known criminal and she’s pretty sure that if she stepped into the airport with the intent to ride on a passenger plane, they’d refuse if not arrest her for simply trying. Seeing your wide eyes and the awe in your expression, she realizes that this was a good choice. She doesn’t think you’ll mind this surprise as you take in the small yet somehow spacious interior that looks more comfortable than anything you’ve ever sat on.
“Oh my God.”
There are sets of four seats that are divided into two groups on each side of the plane. The leather recliners are paired with tables that have drinks already set up. There are also two televisions on each side with charging stations beneath, and you can’t stop yourself from sitting down in the nearest chair. You turn to your wife with a stunned expression that you’ll probably wear for the entire trip.
“This is amazing, Wanda. Were you ever going to tell me about this?”
Wanda just shrugs as she takes off her coat and sits down beside you with a smile. She just wanted you to enjoy your weekend, and as she says this you can’t help but kiss her. She’s so sweet and you can’t wait to go on this trip with her. It’s been too long since you’ve had quality time alone and although reuniting with the high school mean girls wasn’t something you were excited about; you at least were going to enjoy the ride.
The 4-hour flight seems to fly by and when you and Wanda leave the plane you almost wish it had been longer. You and Wanda arrive to the hotel that she’d booked and you are once again surprised by Wanda’s choice. It’s very reminiscent of the one you two stayed in during your honeymoon, and you’re already recalling how much fun that was as you and your wife step into the elevator.
“So? How’s the trip so far?”
Your wide smile is enough of an answer for Wanda, but she doesn’t complain about you offering you a verbal response as well. You are the only ones in the elevator so you don’t resist the urge to kiss your wife appreciatively. You sneak a hand in her hair, careful not to knock off her sunglasses on her head as you deepen the kiss with a sigh.
“It’s perfect, Wands. Thank you for this.”
Wanda’s hands squeeze your hips before she buries her face in your hair. She turns so she can kiss your neck before leading you off the elevator as soon as you reach your floor. The top floor.
“Of course, detka. I want you to enjoy this weekend, and not stress about the mean girls. I promise I’ll beat them up if they look at you wrong.”
You laugh as you follow Wanda into your room that resembles the rest of the hotel in its extravagance. You see your bags in the room already so you just hurry over to the king size bed and fall face first on it with a sigh. This weekend is proving to be unpredictable, but luckily, it’s in a good way so far. Hopefully this will continue to be the case as the reunion rolls around, but you have no real way of knowing.
Wanda comes to lie down beside you, and you adjust so you’re more comfortable and able to put an arm around her. You know that regardless of what happens tomorrow, you’ll have Wanda by your side and you couldn’t be more grateful for this. You appreciated your wife’s support and despite the fact that you would not let her beat up anyone for you, it was nice to hear that she would be in your corner. You hadn’t seen any of these people in nearly 15 years and you were nervous to say the least.
You hadn’t been popular in high school, but despite keeping to yourself you knew that you’d be recognized. You had no idea how people would remember you but you hadn’t been out of the closet then yet, so maybe some of them would be surprised to learn Wanda was your wife. You weren’t ashamed of anything, but you’d rather talk about how much you loved being a vet and maybe see some people’s puppy pictures. However, you were going to take what you could get, and not worry too much about it. You’d prefer anything to having to talk about Wanda’s less than legal career because that could definitely get dicey.
“Thank you, Wands.”
The rest of the day is mostly spent in bed ordering ridiculously expensive room service. You didn’t want to go out much before the reunion and Wanda understood. You were anxious and you’d rather just hang out, and luckily for her you were in the mood for sitcoms and cuddling. Her two favorite things. It wasn’t until you fell asleep that night that Wanda considered how tomorrow would go for you two.
She wasn’t too worried about being recognized because anyone that knew her there would have a secret of their own to keep. She supposed she was mostly wondering how meeting your former classmates would go. You’d never told her much about your time in high school, but from what she’d gathered you were more studious than social. You mentioned friends occasionally, but you didn’t really keep in touch with them anymore. You only talked to vet school friends every now and then, but never high school.
She wonders if you really wanted to go to this or if you felt guilted into it. Wanda sighs as she lies down next to you to finally go to sleep. It’s nearly midnight and she’s just been watching you sleep for the past hour. She supposes she should try to get some rest. Tomorrow will surely be exhausting with how much you’re going to have to socialize.
This is what you’re thinking about as you and Wanda arrive at the venue where the reunion is being held. You try not to cringe as you see the large banner that says ‘Welcome back class’. You’re regretting your decision to come here, but you choose to focus on the food you’ll hopefully get to eat and your beautiful wife that’s accompanying you. She’s wearing a dress that should make you jealous, but instead you’re proud to show her off to your former classmates. The dress isn’t overly revealing, but the black accentuates her assets and is complemented well with her bright red hair.
“Are you ready for this, my love?”
Wanda smiles as she takes your hand and leads you into the building. You come up on a table quickly and see it’s full of sticker name tags that you’re going to have to stick to your shirt. You smile at the unfamiliar woman sitting behind it. She’s blonde and you definitely could buy that she used to be a cheerleader, but you can’t be sure. You’re certainly not going to ask.
“Hi there, welcome! Let me try and guess?”
You don’t get to respond and you just watch as the blonde looks at the names in front of her curiously. You are actually surprised when she guesses right and you accept it with a small smile before Wanda’s handed a blank tag to fill out with her name.
“I remember you, Y/n. You dated my friend!”
You’re a little confused by this and when Wanda stops in the middle of writing her name you realize she is too. You don’t get to ask ‘Hannah’ for clarification before two other couples come in behind you and force you to move on. You just shake your head as you hold Wanda’s hand and whisper under your breath.
“I have no idea who she was talking about.”
Wanda just laughs at this as she follows you through the hall to the ballroom. The sound of a room full of people chatting makes you tense a little, but Wanda squeezes your hand and offers you a reassuring smile. You take a deep breath before kissing her cheek and leading her the rest of the way to the open doors.
“Let’s do this.”
You were optimistic to say the least about how this day was going to go. You’d believed that it would be fine and you could just mingle with your old friends and try to kill time. This had worked out for the first half hour, but then the group you’d been talking to decide to venture off to talk to others. You’re fine with this and after bidding them goodbye you look to Wanda with a smile.
This was all a little anticlimactic if you were being honest. Given who you were, you’d feared that something dramatic and uncomfortable would happen to you. However, you and Wanda had chatted and actually had a decent time catching up with your old acquaintances. You’d introduced your wife and told everyone that she was in sales. Something boring-sounding but potentially lucrative, yet not specific enough for anyone to try and look her up.
“Thank you for coming with me to this.”
You say this a little while later when the two of you are alone with your snacks. You’re sipping on your drink when Wanda takes one of your hands with a smile. She’s glad that she came here with you. She can tell that you’re less on edge and you’re almost enjoying yourself when someone new comes up to you.
Wanda hadn’t seen the other redhead here as she’d glanced around casually while you talked to your friends. She was pretty and Wanda hates this fact as soon as she realizes who she is or rather was to you.
“Dr. Y/L/N. Look at you all grown up! You somehow look even better than the last time I saw you.”
The urge to crawl into a hole and die overwhelms you as you force yourself to swallow what you’re chewing before you turn toward the familiar voice. You were torn between horror that you’re running into her, and shame at the fact that you’d forgotten about her existence up until this moment. As you turn around to face her you have to stop yourself from doing anything other than smiling.
She looks as good as you remember, albeit briefly forgot, and you meet her blue eyes before looking away to her shirt to remind yourself of her name.
“Jessica. Hi. I didn’t expect to see you here!”
It wasn’t exactly a lie given that you’d forgotten a majority of high school due to the sheer amount of stress it had caused you. Your tactic had been to repress whatever you didn’t want to remember which ended up being most of it. This happened to include your brief, trivial fling with the redhead in front of you.
She’s smiling at you still as she leans in for a hug that you feel obligated to give. You try to keep it short and you bounce uncomfortably on the balls of your feet as you watch Jessica shrug as she looks around the room.
“Of course! How else am I supposed to catch up with everyone. I knew for sure it would be the only way I’d ever see you again.”
Wanda notices that your smile is a little pained, and she doubts this could indicate anything good. She doesn’t have much time to consider this further before you’re reaching out for her and looking between her and the redhead who’s still staring at you.
“Jessica, this is Wanda, my wife. Wanda, Jessica was one of my friends.”
It would have been too lucky for this introduction to go unchallenged. You could feel the color drain from your face when Jessica laughs as she reaches out to shake Wanda’s hand. You can tell she’s confused and you want to explain, but not here and now.
“Mostly friends, sometimes with benefits.”
Wanda’s eyes widen when the other redhead says this, and she can’t help but frown as she turns back to you. You hadn’t told her about any relationships you’d had, other than that short stent with the guy you went to prom with. You take a deep breath before releasing an uncomfortable laugh that seems to spur Jessica on. You take a moment to look at her, and you see that she doesn’t have a ring on her finger. This could mean many things, but unfortunately for you it means that she feels free to flirt with you. Despite the fact that you’re wearing a wedding band and your wife is holding your hand, she’s bolder than you’d feared.
“It’s so good to see you! I hate that we lost touch.”
You run a hand through your hair yanking a good bit of it out as you use work as an excuse. It’s a valid one considering how busy you’d been, but you also hadn’t said a word to Jessica in person or otherwise since graduating high school. She couldn’t have forgotten this.
“Yeah, school was just crazy and now work is crazy.”
You talk a little bit about work when she mentions that she’d read that you were a vet. You ask what she does in return and you listen to her marketing spiel before realizing that Wanda’s near frozen beside you. She’s watching Jessica carefully as she speaks to and continues to ogle you. She’s amazed by this woman’s boldness; her blatant disregard for her presence as she looks at you like she’s imagining you naked.
“I bet you’re amazing at that. You were always so passionate.”
When she reaches out to touch your arm Wanda considers smacking her hand away. She looks to you as you let her do it for only a split second before stepping away. You tug at the hem of your shirt needlessly before covering your discomfort with a cough.
“Ahah thanks, um. If you’ll excuse me.”
You run off before either redhead can stop you and they just frown in unison before turning their attention back to each other. They’re sizing each other up and it’s fairly obvious to any onlooker as Jessica’s frown deepens before speaking up.
“So how long have you and Y/n been married?”
Wanda doesn’t need to think about this at all and she tells Jessica the truth. She has to remind herself to take comfort in the fact that she’d been with you for years, and you’d never once mentioned her.
“For 5 years, but we’ve been together since before she started vet school.”
Jessica nods before she looks toward the doorway that you’d disappeared through before grinning at your behavior. You’d always been a skittish thing until she got you alone, and it was then that you’d find your confidence. She remembers the time she spent with you fondly, and despite wanting to rehash some of that, she has a feeling this won’t happen since Wanda’s here.
“She did always have a thing for redheads.”
Wanda’s still scowling when you return from bringing the car around. You’d wanted to flee and you considered taking Wanda with you but she hadn’t followed you so you decided to just make it quick. You ran back into the building hoping to avoid any drama, but seeing your wife near glaring at Jessica’s smug expression, you realize you’re too late.
You walk back over to them quickly and reach out for your wife’s shoulder with a smile.
“Wands, are you ready to go?”
She doesn’t hurry to respond as she considers what you could have seen in this woman. Beyond her looks, Jessica is pretty intolerable and Wanda opens her mouth to say this when you cut her off. You’d seen the look in your wife’s eyes and you knew that things were about to get ugly if you didn’t get her out of here now.
“Jessica, sorry to run off but we have a flight to catch. It was nice seeing you.”
Two minutes later you and Wanda are sitting in a suffocating silence as you drive back to the hotel. You hadn’t bothered to say goodbye to anyone else because you were mostly worried about your wife. You’d made such a hasty exit that you wondered what rumors were spreading, but that thought is cut short by Wanda’s voice.
“Why didn’t you give me a heads up about her?”
Your grimace isn’t missed as Wanda turns to watch you come up with a response while trying to focus on driving. You hadn’t been able to think of an answer to this question that wasn’t more annoying than Jessica, but you didn’t have a lot of time or the courage to come up with a lie.
“I forgot about her, Wands.”
The responding scoff is probably paired with an eye roll you don’t see as Wanda crosses her arms in annoyance. She hadn’t thought that today would go like this. You’d given her no reason to believe that things would go so sideways, and that’s part of the problem and the reason why she’s ticked.
“Bullshit. You didn’t forget about her, Y/n.”
You open your mouth to protest but you realize you have no excuse so you just stay silent. Wanda seems to get more annoyed at this and she huffs in exasperation as you pull into the hotel parking lot.
“How could you? It sounded like you had a really nice time together.”
The sarcasm in Wanda’s voice makes you cringe in realization. You’d really fucked up and in more ways than one. Not only had you neglected to tell Wanda that you had a friend with benefits in high school, but you’d also just let her flirt with you right in front of your wife. You’d be mad too which is why you’re not surprised when Wanda gets out of the car and storms towards the elevator in silence.
“Wands, come on. I was just a kid it didn’t mean anything.”
She’s just angrily pressing the button for the elevator when you reach out for her only for her to jerk away. She watches the elevator crawl down to their level with an inaudible sigh. She really wishes that they’d just stayed in bed today.
“Well, you didn’t rush to tell her that did you? You just let her fucking flirt with you.”
The ride up to the room is made in silence, and you’re almost afraid that Wanda won’t let you go in as she practically storms out of the elevator.
“I’m sorry, it made me uncomfortable, but I didn’t want to risk her saying more.”
You realize too late that this is admitting to remembering something about your time with Jessica and Wanda zeroes in on this immediately. She opens the door to the room before turning to watch you sweat as she backs up.
“More about what, exactly? What more do you remember, detka? “
You’d like to lie down and cry right now because you’d almost been having fun. You’d been starting to think that it was a good thing that you’d come out here to see old friends, and then this bullshit happened. Sure, maybe you’d liked Jessica a little in high school, but that was 15 years ago. You’d moved on and had an amazing wife and you loved the life you shared with her.
“I remember that we had meaningless sex in the theater changing rooms. However, it’s not something that I’d ever want to think about because it wasn’t memorable.”
Wanda scowls at the confirmation that you’d had sex with the other redhead, and she can’t help but hate that she’d had you first. She knew it was irrational. You’d been in high school around the same time as her, but on completely different sides of the country. You would have never met her at that time.
“I also have it way better now because I’m married to my wonderful wife.”
Wanda sighs in frustration before she turns and walks over to the bed with a frown. She sits down on her side and crosses her arms and legs as she watches you follow her tentatively. She is mad at you for not telling her about this sooner, but unfortunately, she’s starting to forgive you for that. However, she’s still pissed that you hadn’t said anything to deter her from flirting with you, and she wants to remind you of this.
“I shouldn’t have had to watch her flirt with you.”
You’re nodding before Wanda’s even finished speaking, and you creep toward the bed as your wife continues. She’s shooting you a look that makes you want to agree to anything that comes out of her mouth. She’s furious and you don’t want to ruin the rest of your trip because of your stupidity. She watches as you kneel at the edge of the bed and just wait for any indication that you’re not welcome.
“You’re mine and you should have told her that.”
Again, you nod furiously in agreement as you do your best to placate your wife. You need her to know that she’s right, and that you will always be hers; never anyone else’s.
“I know, you’re right. I’m yours.”
Wanda’s eyes darken and she stares at you for the longest time before she lays back against the pillows behind her. She doesn’t want to fight with you about this. However, she’d love to teach you a lesson that will hopefully prevent you from doing something like this ever again. Her arms are still crossed as she watches you fidget nervously, and a smile creeps onto her lips as she decides what your punishment will be.
“Prove it to me then.”
Your head snaps up and you meet your wife’s hard gaze with a puzzled look.
“What?”
Wanda’s smile widens as she leans forward and takes a moment to look you over. You’re tense and flushed and Wanda has a feeling you’ll be very compliant given that you feel guilty for not standing up to your ex-friends with benefits or whatever she was. She plans on taking advantage of this, just so long as you’re game.
“Prove to me that you’re mine and I’ll forgive you.”
To be continued...
“You are going to die at these new flavors.” Steve’s lips were curled into a smile as he leaned against the counter when you approached. There was a light on his face but his hair was dimmed by the required hat. You raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve only been gone a week,” you argued. He shook his head.
“The Scoops Ahoy Gods have been here since the last time you were,” he explained. The shop was otherwise empty aside from stragglers. It was only Steve at the front this afternoon, a slow day at the ice cream counter. It was drizzling outside and the rest of Hawkins had decided to stay inside. You couldn’t blame them. You almost skipped the trip to the mall today. Saving money and being cozy in bed was an alluring daydream. The look in Steve’s eyes made you happy you had come though. He was the only reason you got out of bed that particular morning and put on some half decent clothes. It was always more exciting to get dressed with the prospect of seeing someone who might appreciate the clothes.
“Well?” You gestured to the ice cream.
“This one, is lemon cookie.” He made a face like he was melting, hands dragging down his cheeks in an exaggerated manner. You giggled, shaking your head. “This one-” he paused for effect, “-blueberry cupcake. Actual cupcake pieces in it.” You nodded slowly as he went down the line of new flavors. They all seemed good, aside from a couple random ones. But you never really came here for the ice cream. Regardless, to appease him, you picked one of the new ones and stood there as you tasted it.
“Positively delightful,” you promised. He smiled brightly.
“I knew you would love it. You’re my most loyal customer.”
“Erica Sinclair out of town or something?”
“You’re my favorite customer,” he said with an eye roll.
“Just because Dustin Henderson is still at summer camp.”
“Stop arguing with me and take the compliment.” You nodded, a soft smile on your face. You leaned against the counter to the side, just in case someone wanted to come in and grab a scoop.
“No Robin today?”
“Nope. They shoved me out here all by my lonesome.”
“You need to learn the priority of self confidence, Steve Harrington.”
“I have self confidence. Plenty of it.” A girl approached, probably a little older than you. You didn’t recognize her and you knew you would’ve. She had a gorgeous head of braided hair, along with a dazzling, kind, approachable smile. The sight of her made your heart sink. Steve moved to the counter once more.
“Good afternoon milady,” he said, smoothly. “Care to join me on this adventure of flavors?” You rolled your eyes and moved aside. To your surprise, she laughed. You breathed sharply through your nose. Usually he just got an eyebrow raised with that line.
“I would love to. Got any favorites?”
“I have many but not one compares to you.” Her smile grew at the flattery. You rolled your eyes and took a bitter bite of your ice cream.
You had been coming to the mall for Steve. But he was never here to see you. He was here to do his job and flirt with girls. You aren’t special because he flirts with you when you’re around. You missed Robin and her even keeled voice, the one that would promise you he had struck out with every other girl in Hawkins.
You took a deep breath and tossed your ice cream. It wasn’t that good anyway. You didn’t even bother a wave as you left, leaving his voice to drown out as you got further away. Suddenly the rainy weather was only furthering your solemn mood.
-
Despite your better intentions, you returned to Scoops Ahoy a couple of days later. Robin had called you the day before to complain about him and you were all too happy to oblige in her distaste. You were happy to see her at the counter when you approached. It was a little busier today but there was no line.
“Hey,” she said evenly as you approached. “Long time no talk.” You opened your mouth to retort back when the back door opened.
“Where have you been?” Steve questioned, pushing the back door open with force. Your eyes went wide in mock annoyance.
“School. Working. Why?”
“You haven’t come in,” he explained, approaching the back of the counter.
“It’s not like I was talking to her or anything,” Robin said, rolling her eyes. She jutted her elbow onto the counter, watching him with a slight form of amusement.
“You can talk to her whenever,” Steve grumbled. “What happened? We didn’t even finish our conversation the other day.” Suddenly, in the presence of his puppy dog eyes, you felt kind of silly. You had left him without saying anything and hadn’t mentioned it. You were slightly surprised he had even brought it up. You would’ve let it move past silently, content in not knowing why the slight awkwardness had happened.
“I had to leave,” you explained. It was weak but nothing else came to mind. “I had to go back home,” you tried. He furrowed his eyebrows.
“Okay. Well next time let me know, alright?” You nodded gently, happy to let the situation go.
“What are you having?” Robin questioned. You looked at the flavors and Steve remained with an eager look.
“How about the lemon cookie?” Steve’s easy smile returned and he nodded once before trying to talk to the customer behind you. Robin gave you a look that said, you folded too easily. You shrugged. He would have gotten you out of it sooner or later.
-
The next day it rained again. You were busy with college work, knee deep in homework. You were barely able to look up, let alone go and visit Steve. For the time being you were attempting to distance yourself from him, for the sake of both of you. You couldn’t pine for him forever when he clearly just saw you as a friend. The schoolwork was a worthy distraction.
You didn’t hear the phone ringing until it had been going for forty five seconds.
“Will you get that?” your roommate called from the other side of the building. You looked up, only to the sound of her voice. You were finally aware of the incessant ringing. You moved your papers aside and finally found the phone. You picked it up, finger wrapping around the cord.
“Hello?”
“Hey! I hope you don’t mind, Robin gave me your number.” You were stunned into silence. Steve was calling you. Despite him giving you the reason he had your number, it still took you a moment to pull together any kind of information. “Hello?”
“Hi! Sorry, cut out for a second. What can I do for you Steve?”
“I know it’s raining but I thought you could come keep me company,” he suggested. “It’s really lonesome by myself in the Scoopys Ahoy this afternoon.” You pursed your lips. Was he asking you to hang out for ulterior motives? Or was he really just bored and you were the first person to come to mind? How had he asked Robin for your number? Why hadn’t she told you? Your silence was not a green flag to him. “Or not. I’m sure you’re busy-”
“No, sorry I’m still in study brain.”
“Ah the good old study brain. I know him well.” You rolled your eyes.
“What time does your shift end?”
“Four.”
“Well then I will be by before then.” You could practically see the smile on his face at his cheerful answer.
“Okay cool. Sick. See you then.”
“See you then Steve.” You hung up the phone quickly, squinting at it. You didn’t know what his intention was but you didn’t exactly like it. You looked back down at your school work, deciding to abandon it as you went to find an outfit.
-
Steve was still holding the phone when you hung up. He could hear the dial tone but he couldn’t bring himself to put it down.
“Well?” Robin asked, eyebrows raised and wide eyed.
“She said she’s coming by before my shift ends,” he explained. Robin nodded.
“That’s good. When I see her I’ll hide in the back.” Steve finally put the phone down and swallowed hard. Usually he was okay with this type of thing. Flirting, asking people out, getting rejected. But he knew he would miss you coming to see him if you said no. He knew you would stop coming if there was some sort of awkward barrier between the two of you. He didn’t want that.
But he wanted you.
He cleared his throat and nodded.
“What am I supposed to say again?” Behind Robin’s head was the white board, taunting him with rejections. He had thought it was funny when she did it but now it seemed like a slap in the face.
“Ask her to hang out after your shift. That’s all.” Robin crossed her arms. This was harder than she thought it was going to be. You liked him, he liked you, how could you not get together? Clearly it was taking some pushing on both ends though. She better be invited to the wedding.
“When do you think she’ll come?”
“Before your shift ends dingus,” she muttered, shaking her head. She returned to the counter as a customer approached. Steve was left alone in the back room with his thoughts and doubts. Everytime you came to see him it was like every light in the room had brightened. He thought about losing that, about losing you. Would you laugh in his face, like every other girl he talked to here? He couldn’t bear it. This was an awful idea. His stomach churned. He pushed open the door and hoped they would get so busy, he would forget you were even coming.
-
At 3:30 you finally arrived. You felt like your body was sagging with all the information in your head weighing it down. You had been distracted by homework even while you got ready, thinking about all the things that could go wrong this week. It made this thing with Steve seem less important, so you could worry about it less. But now that you were here, you could feel the nerves settling back into your stomach.
Steve was behind the counter. He stood up straight when he noticed it was you.
“Hey,” he breathed.
“Hey,” you said back, a small smile on your face. “Why isn’t Robin working today?” you questioned. They were typically shift partners. She hadn’t mentioned going out somewhere that would warrant her taking an unprecedented day off.
Steve, knowing full well Robin was in the back, shrugged.
“They thought I could handle it by myself.” You raised an eyebrow.
“You’re moving up in the world, Harrington. Are you the manager yet?”
“You know no one would let that happen,” he argued. He moved over to the ice cream. “This one’s on me but I get to choose.” You nodded once.
“I’ll take that.” He hoped no one else would come for the last hour. Should he just ask you now? The words seemed daunting. He could hear his blood pumping in his ears. He had literally fought monsters, why was this the thing to take him out? He scooped you some blueberry cupcake and handed it over. “Thanks.”
“How’s studying?”
“Draining,” you admitted without a beat. “I can only hold so much in my brain at once.” He remembered his days of essay writing which didn’t help his confidence in the moment.
“They should invent pillows you can stick information into.”
“That’s a million dollar idea, Harrington. You should trademark that.”
“I wouldn’t even know where to start.”
“We can figure it out together over a lot of ice cream.” You briefly wondered if this was going to be his job in the fall too. Would he leave for school then? How far would he go?
“I like that.” He cleared his throat. “You know, we could see each other when I’m not on the clock too.” You took a bite of your ice cream, listening intently. Your eyes remained on him. He tried not to quiver under your wide eyed gaze. “Like if you have nothing going on today…” You caught on. You swallowed your ice cream to ignore your breath hitching.
“Like a date?”
He shrugged as nonchalantly as he was able to.
“If you want.”
“I would like that,” you admitted. “Are you just asking me because none of the other girls coming into Scoops Ahoy have given you the time of day?” He tried not to wince.
“I’m asking because I want to,” he said honestly. “And Robin held me at knife point. I think she’s tired of us dancing around…whatever this is.”
Whatever this is?!
He could feel it too? You thought it was entirely one sided, fueled by your delusions. You couldn’t help but smile.
“I’ll have to thank her next time I see her.” You pulled up a stool to sit on the side of the counter, allowing you to continue talking. “You have a place in mind?”
“We could go wherever you wanted. Grab food, hell we could go to the arcade if you wanted.” You laughed gently.
“I think I’ll pass on the arcade right now. But I wouldn’t mind an entree to go with my dessert.”
-
The nerves wore off quickly once you both realized you were on the same page. You sat on the stool in the back, the few magazines on the table keeping you company while Steve dealt with customers. You poked at your blueberry cupcake ice cream as you turned the pages.
The divider window opened up. You raised your head.
“Nice hat,” Steve said. You had forgotten you stole his work hat, which was sitting very gracefully atop your head.
“Thanks.”
“Everyone’s gone.”
“Then come back here,” you said, gesturing to the empty room.
“You’re too distracting when I'm back there with you alone. I need supervision.” Robin made a gagging noise, though you couldn't see her. You smiled sheepishly and got up, pushing the magazine aside.
“You know you could hang out after he gets off right?”
“We hang out during me getting o-”
“Shut up. Shut up.” Robin covered her ears and walked into the back room. You laughed at the sly attempt at a joke. Steve wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer. You were glad you had stolen his hat. He looked much better without it.
“She’s right. I think we’re feeding into codependency.”
“Our relationship was built on the foundation of you coming to see me while I work.”
“That was because I didn’t see you after work.” His fingers held onto yours. He smiled down at them, like a prized possession.
“I like to maximize my time.”
Robin gagged in the back again.
Maybe I was wrong, maybe you weren't the one I needed all along
Simon "Ghost" Riley X F!Reader John Price X F!Reader
a/n:thank you to everyone who voted for this fic in the poll! please heed the tags are there are some pretty heavy topics in this(Also I know I promised Biker!Price first, and it's in the works! but I got too inspired by this fic) warnings:SIMON IS VERY OOC I KNOW, heavy swearing, fights, mentions of PTSD, flashbacks, Simon being a raging asshole
It had been John’s idea to go out to the pub after their latest mission, he’d insisted that Simon call you and see if you’d like to join. It was a way for everyone to relax, to ease their minds off the horrors they’d had to bear witness to for so long. Simon had begrudgingly called you, offering to pick you up before you denied him and said you’d just get an uber. Johnny was ecstatic that you were coming to hang out, mainly so he could tell you the million and one jokes he had. Kyle kept his cool, claiming he was happy to know you were coming but deep down everyone knew you and Kyle were the best of friends. It was cute, knowing you’d grown so attached to the group in such a short amount of time. However when John’s eyes landed on the way Simon seemed so tense, the idea of going out now seemed like a horrible one.
Simon assured him things were fine, that he just needed some good food and a cold beer to help wash away his worries for the night. You showed up after only a few minutes, a bright smile on your face as you made your way to your favorite group of softies. It didn’t matter how much Simon tried to deny it, deep down he truly was a softy for you.
“Hi! Sorry I’m a little late, traffic was a little backed up.” You scooted into the seat beside Johnny, smiling as he gave you a quick side hug.
“Don’t worry love, we’ve only just got here ourselves anyway.” John smiled over at you, wanting to ease the tension that you seemed to be carrying.
Your eyes twinkled in the dim light, letting him know just how happy you were to truly be there. It meant a lot to him, after dealing with some of the worst conditions he’d ever been in, this was a nice change. He wouldn’t tell you that though, not unless he wanted to make things awkward between the two of you. Simon offered to get everyone drinks, slipping out of the booth before anyone else could speak up. You wrung your hands together nervously, it was a habit you’d picked up after his last deployment. He’d come back with a haunted look in his eyes, something you’d come to expect, but something was different about this one.
“I know we can’t talk about what you boys got up to, so I’ll just ask how everyone’s feeling.” You glanced around at the three men still at the table. Simon most likely would hole himself up in your bedroom at home, hide away until he could come back down to earth.
“Tired, mainly, the flight home took longer than we expected.” Kyle didn’t hold his punches, but he was very obviously hiding something, and that made you nervous.
“Good thing you’re home now, don’t have to worry about it for the night at least.” They were always being called out on deployment at a moment’s notice.
“Quite true.” John ran the tip of his tongue over his bottom lip as Simon placed down four pints, plus a water for you.
You’d made it known to everyone that you didn’t like drinking, mainly because beer tasted in your personal words “like downright piss” so they would make do. Normally they’d buy you a water, or a soda if you preferred that. Sometimes a lemonade if the bar had it on hand, moreso they’d buy you something to eat as an apology. They’d asked how you’d been while they were all gone, you gave the basic rundown that nothing truly exciting happened. It wasn’t until Johnny noticed a bright flashy diamond on your finger.
“Aye, you get engaged?” Johnny was staring down at your hand, brow raised slightly.
“Oh, no, I bought this because of someone at work. Guy was flirting with every single woman and wouldn’t take no for an answer, ended up going to HR cause he followed me to my car one day.” You took a rather large sip of your water, ignoring the way Simon’s eyes were boring into the side of your head.
“Tell me the fucker got fired, I know how to ‘ide a body.” Johnny would do anything to help keep you safe, taking care of a few mishaps would be no problem.
“Yeah, they found out he’d been videotaping women in the restroom, and ended up getting arrested in front of everyone.” You were thankful you’d stopped using that bathroom, unable to get over the sense of unease whenever you went inside.
It was another reminder how terrifying the world could be, and with Simon being away you were scared to leave work in fear he’d end up following you home. Wasn’t much you’d be able to do if he had, not with your boyfriend god knows where for god knows how long. The conversation turned to brighter topics, John steering the conversation towards futbol. You’d tried to keep track of how well the teams were doing, but with work being so hectic it simply slipped your mind. Kyle started on about how excited he was to go and visit his parents, ready to have a home cooked meal and see how his mom was doing.
It eased your mind for the rest of the night, laughing at the terrible jokes that Johnny seemed to save up for your annual visits. You couldn’t contain your laughter as you slapped his shoulder, nearly doubling over onto the wooden table as you tried to catch your breath. This was what you’d been missing, the carefree joy that came with being around everyone. Except, Simon seemed to become even quieter, not even the sound of his breathing could be heard. Had you done something to upset him? Clearly you’d pissed him off or else he wouldn’t be giving you the cold shoulder.
Everyone agreed to head out after one drink, not wanting to get too relaxed lest they end up falling asleep in the booth. After giving everyone a tight hug you headed out to where Simon’s car was parked. His shoulders seemed even more tense, hands balled into fists as he got into the driver's seat. Taking a quick breath you got into the passenger's side, buckling your seatbelt before Simon could take off. His knuckles were white with how harshly he was gripping the steering wheel, eyes glaring down at the road. How could you even broach a conversation when he was this angry?
“Simon?” Your voice was meek, barely anything more than a whisper.
“What?” His voice was harsh, biting into your skin and leaving behind superficial welts.
“Did I say something to upset you?” Your hands were beginning to shake, the last thing you ever wanted to do was upset someone by saying the wrong thing.
“Isn’t that rich, I should be asking if you’d finally found someone to warm the bed while I’m gone making sure you’re safe.” It’d felt as if you’d been slapped, the words cutting deep.
“Excuse me?” There was no way he’d said that to you, even when Simon was beyond angry he was never so hateful before.
“I’m sure your new boy toy got that ring for you, tell me, does he fuck you better than I do? Treat you like a whore since you can’t handle me leaving so often?” Simon barely glanced towards you, eyes hiding a burning rage deep inside.
Your eyes were filled with tears, mouth gaping open as you struggled to figure out how to even reply to what he’d said. How could he sit there and act like you were stepping out on him when you’d always waited for him to come home.
“There is no one else-”
“Don’t fucking lie to me! Do you really think I’m naive enough to believe that you haven’t fucked someone else when I’ve been gone for months, haven’t slipped someone into our bed when I’m deployed?” The car came to a screeching halt, the seatbelt across your chest preventing you from slamming into the dashboard.
Tears were streaming down your cheeks now, who was this man that bore your boyfriend's face, and what had he done with Simon?
“Get the fuck out of my car.” Simon was absolutely seething, refusing so much as to look at you.
“Si, please.” You were ready to beg, it was dangerous to be alone outside at night.
“I said get the fuck out!” His voice was thick with anger, venomous words poisoning your soul slowly.
You weakly unbuckled your seat, hands shaking uncontrollably as you reached for the door handle. His lips pulled into a snarl as you stepped out of the car, slightly thankful for the bright street lamps so you weren’t in total darkness. The sound of tires squealing and dirt kicking up echoed into the night as Simon drove off, leaving you behind. A scream tore through your chest as the realization hit you, Simon had left you. The man who’d loved you so gently left you behind as if you meant nothing to him.
Patting yourself down you swallowed thickly realizing you still had your purse, which meant you had your phone to call for help. Your heart was shattering as you scrolled through the contacts, coming upon the name you were hoping you wouldn’t have had to see so soon.
“Hey hun, miss me already.” Johnny laughed into the receiver, John’s voice in the background telling him to “shut up”.
“Johnny?” Your voice was thick with tears, reaching up to try and wipe them away.
“Sweetheart? What’s going on?” He was suddenly on high alert, you were upset and he was going to find out why.
You broke down once more, unable to get your words out properly for a few seconds before Johnny helped calm you down enough to talk. You told him everything, how Simon had accused you of cheating, how he pulled over to the side of the road and kicked you out of the car. He didn’t even need to ask for the address, having pinged your location from his own phone. You stepped under one of the bright street lamps, illuminating yourself so that he could see you.
Headlights came barreling around the corner not even five minutes later, John slamming on the breaks and throwing himself out of the car to help console you immediately. You cried into his chest, gripping onto the leather coat that he’d been wearing earlier. It smelled of smoke and something sweet that you couldn’t quite place. It did its job in helping bring you back down to earth, head beginning to ache with a headache.
“C’mon, you can stay in my guest room for the night.” John turned you towards his car, helping you into the passenger seat carefully.
Johnny wanted to protest and say that he was supposed to sleep in the guest room but you would always take priority. He wanted to wring Simon’s neck until the other man was blue in the face, how the hell could he do that to you? They were going to keep you safe, no matter what it took you weren’t going to go to bed upset. Sure the mission hadn’t been the easiest to deal with, but they’d all had to deal with the shit they did and yet Simon took it out on you.
“We’ll be here for you sweetheart, promise.” Johnny leaned forward, laying a gentle hand on your shoulder.
“Thank you, it means a lot.” You reached up to lay your hand overtop of his own, eyes catching onto the (very fake)diamond ring on your finger.
Anger courses through you like a raging fire, the reason Simon had called you such horrific things because you’d had to keep yourself safe. What type of man called his girlfriend a whore for not cheating? You grabbed onto the ring, angrily pulling it off and throwing it into your purse. It was a problem for later you to deal with, right now you wanted to slap Simon into next tuesday and make sure he understood how pissed off you were.
Your phone had started to ring in your pocket, reminding you that realistically had you not called Johnny that you’d still be on the side of the road. Had Simon really driven back to see if you were still there, to see if he could continue berating you? You pulled your phone out, seeing the photo of the two of you lighting up the screen. Ignoring the call you held down the power button, waiting until the screen turned black before sliding it back into your pocket. John was completely silent beside you, nothing, save for the streetlamps, lighting up his face. He was terrified when you’d called, afraid something severe had happened and they would be pulling up on a car accident.
In some way he had hoped it had been an accident, that Simon hadn’t completely destroyed you with his words over something so petty. However, when he’d arrived he became enraged that Simon put you into such a vulnerable position. What if someone had grabbed you before they got there, there wasn’t a shortage of enemies that would take the chance to cause pain to Simon. So why put you in harm's way over something so trivial?
“Hey, we’re here.” John waited until Kyle and Johnny got out of the car, wanting to make sure that you were alright.
“Simon started calling me, probably to tell me what a whore I am.” You bit your bottom lip harshly, not wanting to get emotional all over.
“Just ignore him, if he comes by I’ll talk to him outside.” John was going to make sure Simon didn’t say any more hurtful things to you, no matter what.
You nodded at him, slipping out of the car and heading inside with Johnny and Kyle.
John waited until the front door shut, letting out a long sigh. Simon would show up within a few minutes, he knew that Johnny and Kyle were staying with him anyway. Reaching into the glove compartment of his car he grabbed a cigar and lighter. Nothing better to do than smoke and wait for his hot headed lieutenant to show his face. He’d surely be upset that you called his captain to come and get you instead of waiting around. It wasn’t safe for you to walk around during the daytime, why would the night be any safer for you?
It had just hit the five minute mark as Simon angrily pulled into the driveway, stopping only a few feet from Price’s truck. John could only hope that Johnny and Kyle had you far away from the living room, you didn’t need to hear this argument.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Simon was fuming, steam nearly pouring out of his ears as he stomped over to where John stood smoking.
“I picked her up because she was terrified, Simon, did you really think I would make her wait until you decided it was time to pick her up.” He’d been terrified for the few minutes it took to get to you originally, knowing Simon would’ve left you out there even longer?
“That wasn’t your choice to make and you know it.” Simon wanted to barge into his home and make sure you knew exactly who you’d belonged to.
“I think it’s best if she stays here for the night, the two of you need to cool off and barging in like some mad man will terrify her even more.” It was the most logical thing John could think of, had Simon gone into his home Johnny and Kyle would’ve done what they could to protect you.
Simon seemed to think over what he’d said, debating whether or not he should ignore Price and head inside to find you. The last thing he needed was you causing a scene if he managed to get you back in the car, shit.
“Her and I will be talking privately tomorrow, no eavesdroppers.” Simon glanced towards the bay windows, catching both Johnny and Kyle peeking out through the curtains.
John simply nodded, it was better to agree with whatever Simon wanted than to argue with him for who knows how long. He wouldn’t leave you alone with Simon come morning, not if he wanted to lose all trust in you entirely. Simon glared over at him before heading back to his truck, tires squealing as he sped out into the inky darkness that night brought.
Everyone would feel better after a good night’s sleep, emotions were at an all time high and John refused to treat this like he did a deployment. You deserved better than your friends all at one another’s throats like a pack of savages. Stubbing out the cigar John headed inside to see how you and the two trouble makers were doing. The sound of your laughter reached the entryway as he stepped inside, hanging up his coat and slipping off his boots.
“That’s not true and you know it!” You and Johnny were in the midst of an argument, a playful one at that.
“It is too! Gaz back me up here.” Johnny knew the other man would absolutely take your side, it was a constant thing for the three of you.
“Absolutely not, you know I’m taking my favorite girl's side in this one.” Kyle wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you flush to his side.
Johnny feigned offense, though the bright smile on his face clearly gave away his true emotions in that moment. John stepped into the living room after another minute of your banter, making his presence known to all of you. It suddenly dawned on him that you were wearing a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie that were his. It was most likely Johnny that grabbed the clothes for you, wanting to make sure you were comfortable.
“Sorry, was dealing with something outside for a few.” Everyone knew that Simon had shown up, even if, thankfully, you hadn’t heard him.
“It’s okay, I should probably head to bed anyway, been a long night.” Your smile didn’t reach your eyes, something that made John a little more uncomfortable.
“You know which room sweetheart, if you need anything you know where I’ll be.” John nodded as you headed off to bed, waiting with baited breath until the door shut and the sound of the slightly creaky mattress echoed into the air. He needed to discuss things with Kyle and Johnny, but the less you knew at the moment, the better.
The other two were staring at John with hard gazes, it was obvious that things had gone awry and they needed more answers to the million questions they had. Once John was sure that you were asleep, or at least in bed, John told them everything. From the way Simon was ready to head inside and take you like some brute, how he didn’t look like the man he’d known for years. All of them would develop, or possibly even had PTSD, it came with the territory of being in the military but what Simon had done was despicable.
John had gotten a therapist after the first few years, when his dreams were becoming too vivid and the slightest sounds had him drawing his gun. It worked miracles, and since then any person under his command needed to speak with one. Johnny had admitted to him privately that the therapist helped him from ending his life, how he’d been terrified to sleep most nights. Kyle still had nightmares about falling out of the helicopter, nearly dying if it weren’t for the rope tied around his ankle.
“If he shows up before I’m awake, make sure he doesn’t get to her.” It was an order, you wouldn’t be put into another mess because Simon couldn’t keep his emotions in check.
Kyle and Johnny wouldn’t waste a single second if Simon showed up in the morning, they’d barricade the door if it came down to it. John was afraid he wouldn’t be able to sleep as he crawled into bed, his emotions were too high to fully relax. As he lay there staring at his ceiling his eyes began to droop closed, sleep encompassing him like a warm hug. It wasn’t the sun, nor the birds outside of his window that had woken him up. No it was the sound of your screams that had him sprinting from his bed.
When he finally reached the kitchen he was shocked to find you and Johnny making breakfast. From the looks of it Johnny had thrown what looked to be flour at you, not enough to truly make a mess but enough to surprise you. However in his haste John had forgotten to grab a shirt to throw on before surprising you. Your eyes roved over his chest, brow raised in a way he couldn’t quite decipher.
“Aye cap, why don’t you go ahead and put your tits away.” John’s face flushed with Johnny’s words, not something you hear after sprinting to make sure your guests were safe.
“Don’t damn near give me a heart attack next time, please.” John headed back to his bedroom before either of you could say anything.
It suddenly seemed to dawn on him then, Simon would be coming by so that he could talk to you again. He’d simply have to deal with seeing you in John’s clothes, there truly was no way around that at the moment. The sound of the truck rumbling let him know Simon had arrived, and without wasting anymore time he headed outside to intercept him. If he wanted to talk with you, he’d have to talk with him first.
“Simon.” John nodded at the other man, noticing the letter that was tucked carefully in his hands.
“Shepherd called last night, sending me out on another assignment, can ya give this to her?” Simon didn’t look relaxed, no, in fact his shoulders appeared even more tense, eyes darker and harder to read.
John didn’t want to take the letter, to deliver the bad news and tell you that Simon had run off at a moment’s notice. It all felt so disingenuous.
“Alright.” John took the envelope, tucking it into his pocket.
Simon didn’t spare another word as he left, leaving John confused as to what the hell he was going to say when he went inside. ‘Oh by the way Simon left and gave me this letter to give to you, not sure what it says so I’m sorry in advance.’ This was not how his day was supposed to go. Deciding there really wasn’t anything else he could do, John headed inside with the letter tucked away. The smell of bacon filled the air, calming his nerves for a brief second as he stepped into the kitchen.
You’d already made yourself a plate, digging in happily as Johnny plated up the rest of the pancakes and bacon onto their respective plates.
“Simon wanted me to give this to you.” He grabbed the envelope from his pocket, placing it down beside you.
Your heart plummeted, the calm air suddenly vanishing as you stared down at the white paper. What the hell had he said in the letter that he couldn’t bear to say to your face like a normal person? Then again, Simon wasn’t your average man, was he? Swallowing the bite that was in your mouth you grabbed the letter, ripping open the envelope to see what lay inside. You briefly scanned over Simon’s chicken scratch handwriting, heart twisting painfully. He had truly believed you stepped out on him, and instead of telling you things were over in person, he left. The general had called him last night, asking him to head out on another deployment and he’d accepted it so easily. He wanted you gone before he came back home.
Tears were streaming down your cheeks, lip quivering as you suddenly realized that Simon had thrown away logical thinking to accuse you of something so vile. You wanted to scream, to go to your apartment and destroy it the same way he’d destroyed your heart. Except you couldn’t, because it would mean that Simon had won, that his suspicions were correct. It didn’t matter if you knew you hadn’t cheated, it was your word against Simon’s judgment. Shit, where the hell were you going to live? Getting an apartment would be nearly impossible with how high prices were nowadays.
“Lass?” Johnny was nervous, seeing you this upset broke his heart every time.
You could barely get the words out, thrusting your arms towards him that was still holding onto the letter. He took it carefully, reading over the hateful things that Simon had written, how could one man be so cruel? He carefully handed the letter to John before pulling you into his embrace, rubbing a hand up and down your back slowly. You’d need comfort the most right now, and to find a place to live since Simon wanted you out.
“It’ll be alright sweetheart, I promise.” You burrowed yourself into his chest, cheek resting against the dogtags that rested just beside his heart.
“I won’t be able to find an apartment so soon, shit I’m going to be homeless.” Your heart was racing, god this day couldn’t get any worse.
“You’ll stay with me, ‘m not gonna let you become homeless because Simon’s got his head up his arse.” It was a risky move, but your safety became a priority now.
You wanted to protest, to tell John that you could find a place, given the little time that you had at the moment, perfectly fine. However as you began to think about it deeper you truly realized that you would in fact become homeless before finding a proper apartment. Plus the thought of purchasing all the furniture, and appliances again? It was absolutely hell.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to intrude anymore than I already have.” You’d have to pack up all your clothes and any belongings when you had the time.
“It’s no problem sweetheart, I promise.” John’s smile was soft, a reminder that he would do whatever it took to make you happy.
You kept your head against Johnny’s chest, letting him continue to comfort you in the way that he did best. Maybe things wouldn’t be so bad once you got all your stuff out.
Nine Months Later~~~~~~~
You hadn’t so much as seen Simon since the horrific breakup, though that was more due to you wanting to heal rather than trying to hide. You’d found a therapist to talk with, a way to unload all of your emotions so they wouldn’t fester like an untreated wound. And it had helped for a while, telling them what you could about Simon and your relationship. Somewhere things had suddenly changed, neither of you were aware the feelings had come into perspective. John was afraid to push things, even if he had feelings for you he wasn’t going to force you. So when you approached him about getting dinner, John couldn’t refuse.
Johnny was the first to find out about your relationship, happy that you’d healed enough to find solace in someone else. No one dared talk about it with Simon around, not unless they wanted to find out how scary he could become. He’d become colder towards everyone, refusing to speak up unless someone else needed something. Last anyone had heard he was seeing someone else, a private if the information Johnny had received was correct. No one told you though, not wanting to remind you of all the bad memories.
In truth you’d found out by accident, needing to bring John some papers he’d left at home after rushing to base that morning. He’d called you in a panic, asking if you’d seen the paperwork he needed to go over. You laughed slightly and offered to bring everything to him, he didn’t hesitate to agree, letting you know he’d meet you when you arrived. You tucked the folder under your arm, sending a quick text to let him know you were there. The sound of Simon’s voice raised goosebumps over your body, except he wasn’t calling for you. No, he was talking to what looked like a new recruit, however you knew better from the look in his eye. Huh, you expected it to hurt more than it did, seeing Simon treat someone the way he’d once treated you.
Maybe seeing him after all these months was what you needed, to remind you that you lived with someone that wasn’t afraid to open himself up to you. You knew why Simon was closed off, having had many late night discussions. And yet after nearly three years he still refused to be the first to initiate any kind of affection. It began to wear on your mind, especially when he’d be gone for months on end with no contact. John didn’t treat you as if you were made of glass, but he also wasn’t a total hardass either. He treated you like a normal person, not afraid to show love when you were in public. It was a nice change, one you’d brought up in therapy when you were afraid to make that leap. Your therapist was supportive of the relationship, encouraging you to pursue it. God, you couldn’t have been happier with him.
“Hey love, sorry for making you wait.” John pressed a soft kiss to your lips, arm wrapping around your waist.
“Mmm, only a couple minutes.” You smiled as he pulled away, holding up the folder to let him know you hadn’t forgotten it.
“Thank you so much, my little life saver right here.” John tucked the folder under his arm, focusing entirely on you.
“It’s what I do.” You giggled softly, pressing another kiss to his lips.
Neither of you were aware that Simon was staring you down, watching the way you’d gotten so close and comfortable with his captain. He couldn’t get angry with you though, not when it was his fault for assuming the worst and breaking off the relationship. It had taken months for him to realize that you were in fact telling the truth. However he wasn’t just going to show up at your apartment and beg for forgiveness, he was better than that. Which is why he was dating someone else in hopes he could finally move on. John though? You’d picked John out of anyone to date.
“I’ll see you at home tonight, make sure to grab a bottle of wine on your way home.” You left with a pep in your step, a bright smile on your face.
John fell more in love with each day that passed, even when Johnny would(jokingly)tease him about it. You were the woman for him, and he was going to make sure you never doubted the love he had for you. Which was why he had the ring hidden in his desk here at the base, no reason for you to be snooping where he worked. He could feel Simon’s gaze boring into the side of his head, if looks could kill. This wasn’t about them though, you’d moved on with your life as did he, and in turn you and John were together.
There was nothing he would do to change any of it.
i’ve been rereading your not [] series and WOWOWOWOWOW i love it sm. the writing? mwah chefs kiss 🤌🏽 the soul crushing loneliness is felt throughout the whole series and as the reader i can really feel every single emotion y/n goes through while reading it’s amazing. i’m excited for part three to see how it all goes down most importantly y/n’s reaction. i can only imagine the intense anger they’ll probably have after getting taken back to the manor. they’ll be angry cuz of the kidnapping thing but also it took them going missing for their family to acknowledge them. that’s a whole different type of anger and frustration. trying practically all your life to get your family’s attention, to them notice your there, all for it to be vain but the moment you’re gone and don’t exist, just like they’ve been treating your whole life, suddenly they notice. they felt guilty after realizing the damage they’ve done to you and just NOW they want to fix even though you’ll probably be carrying the trauma of the neglect for life so what’s the point of trying to fix it now? especially at this big age? the anger y/n must feel at this is insane. there’s also the fact that if y/n *does* want to give in to the sudden affection there’s that fear they’ll just leave again. they get kidnapped, imprison in what was their once home with high security, are being bomb with a bunch of love from their family they’ve never received before and then suddenly it’s gone, all their left with is just their freedom being taken away. y/n most likely feels intense anger, maybe even hatred, at their current actions but also fear of their future ones. it’s the perfect soup of angst and mannnn i’m eating it up.
sorry for the ramble i just wanted to let out my thoughts on your series but to sum it up i LOOVE your series and i’m patiently waiting for your next chapter to continue to see what of y/n’s fate becomes 🫶🏽
I'm so glad you're enjoying the series!!! And oh my god I love your interpretation as well!!!
As I've kind of stated/hinted at through various posts (I promise a masterlist will be made soon because there is a lot of things now that are piling up-), I don't really tend for Y/n in the "Not [ ]" series to get kidnapped just yet (not in part 3 anyways), but I think we all know that it's bound to happen considering things. And it will!
Honestly, I think a lot of people are kind of overestimating how 'loud' Y/n's anger, frustration, hurt, and pain will be in part 3, and it does make me a little worried about the reception of it. However, depending on one's interpretation, what the reader does instead can make the angst that much heavier. Because, well. They don't get that 'relief' that can sometimes come with shouting out your problems to the world- especially to the person that caused you such pain for such a long time, as it is also kind of acts like an unmistakable "hey!!! i'm fucked up and it's all your fault!!! i'll never forgive you for this and want nothing to do with you!!!" message. Though it is a mix within itself.
However, you are right, honestly!
Y/n in the start of the "Not [ ]" series is upset enough. Not only towards the family, but all the time they feel like they've wasted to try and just have a chance to just... get something they never had. All they wanted was a relationship, some kind of connection with anyone in the family besides Alfred, anything. Which is also mentioned in "Not Tonight" as there is that repeating theme/mention of Y/n doing too much but receiving so little, if not, nothing at all, for their efforts.
So just knowing that — as you've said — it basically took them essentially 'giving up' and being gone for months, for the Batfam to notice them? To try and even attempt to give not even half of what the reader had tried to before? Yet was rejected at every twist and turn? Up until this point?
Yeah, no. Y/n is plenty pissed, and incredibly hurt. Among other things as it's just... too little too late. Way too late.
Yet why I also say that I feel as if others overestimate how Y/n is going to express their anger, and how loud about it they're going to be, is because... well- this is a small kind of character spoiler, I guess, but they feel so detached from the family that the very thought of the Batfam even looking for them, is unfathomable. They don't realize at first how the Batfam is looking for them (despite the obvious signs), because it's never happened before, not even on accident.
They never got saved when they got into fights. They never got help when shit got tough. They were never heard, seen or even acknowledged in the house besides Alfred unless they initiated the 'conversation'. Why would they think that anyone who's acted to them like that, and wouldn't even let them exist in their space for a few minutes, go out searching for them? To put in even the smallest effort towards finding them — and because they were worried for Y/n's health no less — and not because they were the absolute last resort? They wouldn't. They don't.
It's a part of why part 3 goes the way it does, but again-its a part. The other pieces make it bad as well. Though that's all the spoilers I'm willing to give on that, which will go more indepth in part 3 itself (hopefully).
Basically, Y/n is a mess. Everyone is in a way, and that's what makes everything go to hell.
Y/n is angry, yes, but it starts quiet before it gets loud. Along with everything else.
So if and when Y/n does get kidnapped... hm.
I did say in a previous ask that depending on how it goes that Y/n would fight back if they're able to and such depending on how the kidnapping itself goes. And though I won't say much on Y/n's reaction in case it does go into future parts if more than 4 are made, I will say that you're right to assume that Y/n is incredibly pissed. You're also right on the whole idea with them being worried about the family basically neglecting them all over again, when everything is said and done. And that's great!
It's a mix. A whole push-and-pull deal where, yeah, even if more shit hits the fan- their own trauma will, in a way, protect them as well as make their life more miserable than it already is. Y/n'll probably never be able to naturally get close with the Batfam, not without 'help' anyway.
But these are yanderes. Their definition of 'help' is a little... twisted.
Though, yeah! And don't worry about rambling- I clearly do the same seeing as I think this whole post is almost just as long as what you wrote. So it's fine! If anything I really did enjoy reading it! Seeing all these different interpretations, and thoughts about the series and other things is incredibly interesting and I love it a lot! Especially with Part 3 on the rise.
Daryl wasn’t there when you woke, making everything worse. It was like he said all those things only to leave again anyway. But Rosita was there, sitting on a chair with one of your books in her hand. She smiled when she saw you were up and came to sit on the bed by your legs.
“Hey, sexy,” Rosita teased. “How are you feeling?”
“Remember when I was stabbed when we first met? A lot worse.”
She chuckled. “You’ll get through it. I was shot, too. You’ll feel better soon… well, eventually.”
“I missed you,” You told her. “Sorry, I was away at the Kingdom for so long.”
She waved you off. “Don’t sweat it. I’m here for you, babe.”
You laughed again and then winced. “How long was I out?”
“Two days. You were up yesterday but were pretty out of it. Michonne had to go back to the kids. She wants you to radio her when you’re up. I’ve been keeping her updated. She says she’s really sorry she couldn’t stay longer and would’ve if she could.”
“It’s okay. She’s got two kids and a community to run. Besides, I’m fine.” You looked at your friend and smiled tiredly. “Nothing keeps me down long, remember?”
Rosita smiled, and you could see the relief in her eyes. “Are you hungry? I can get some food for you?”
You nodded, “That would be great. Would you mind getting Tora, too?”
“Of course not.” Rosita stood and walked towards the door before pausing. “I kicked Daryl out to take care of himself. He hasn’t left the room. Do you want me to tell him you don’t want to see him?”
You sighed and looked up at the ceiling. “I don’t know.”
“That’s a no, then, babe.” Rosita laughed. “I’ll be back, don’t get shot again.”
***
You spent another few days in the infirmary before Adam said you were okay to go back to your room. You were still in a lot of pain, but it wasn’t from the gunshot. With the organ gone, it was just the surgery wounds and then the ribs that hurt the most.
Both Rosita and Daryl helped you get to your old room. Tora, who was pushing twelve years old now, followed slowly, and Rosita had to lift her to get her on the bed.
You spent another two weeks cooped up in your room. Fall was near it’s end and Rosita had to get back to Alexandria, but she promised she would be back soon.
Carol and Ezekiel came to see you, the former, more often. Even Henry came to you with flowers and apologized for getting you shot, which you dismissed immediately.
But it was Daryl who was always there. And after almost three weeks of him by your side constantly, you were starting to get used to his presence again. The two of you didn’t argue, but you didn’t really talk either. You didn’t have the strength to heal your body and mind simultaneously.
He begged you to let him stay with you overnight initially, and after struggling with trying to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you relented. But you made him sleep on the floor.
So you read a lot, and he brought you food, changed your bandages, and helped you with everything you needed. He brought you a flower daily and reminded you that he loved you, which you accepted but couldn’t say back.
A month after being shot, you were feeling better. Your ribs were sore, and your surgery and gunshot wound were okay. You could walk around the community and help a little here and there, but it wasn’t extensive. Which you were okay with because early winter had set in, and being in the cold made you shiver, which hurt.
You were cleaning up your room one evening with the windows open. It was bringing in a cold draft, but you wanted to air out the space, and Tora needed to be let out. She’d since come back and nestled herself in the closet, but you wanted to air out the room a little more. You were shivering and trying to keep warm as you laid clean sheets and a blanket on your bed.
Your hair was damp and braided back, and your newly cut curtain bangs hung loosely around your face. You were wearing a sweater you could in the Kingdom’s storage with a pair of leggings and thick socks, but it still was cold.
Your door opened, and Daryl walked into the room. “Why ya got the window open?”
“You really should knock, Daryl. And don’t say you don’t have to ‘cause I’m your wife, ‘cause I’m not.” You said. “And Tora was out.”
He stayed silent as you shut the window. When you looked at him, you crossed your arms. “I told you yesterday that you should get your own room or go.”
“Where would I go?”
“I don’t know. Alexandria. Hilltop. Not my problem.” You knew you were being cruel, especially after everything he’s done for you the past month. But that didn’t mean you forgot about the last five and a half years.
“I wanna be here. With ya.”
You sighed and sat down on the bed. “You don’t get to come back just because I got hurt and expect everything to go back to normal.”
Daryl was quiet as he stared at you. Then he nodded and left the room.
***
You’d been asleep for a few hours, dreams of Daryl twisting into nightmares of the saviors, when you woke to the door opening. You groaned softly at the noise and the soft lighting from the outside hallways, turning in your bed as the door shut again.
From the moonlight, you saw Daryl’s figure walk toward the bed.
“Do ya really want me to leave?” His voice was hoarse; like he’d been crying.
You stayed silent as you looked at his face.
“I will leave tonight, right now. Will let ya go, won’ have to ever see me again. I need to hear ya say it, though.”
Your stomach twisted, and you clenched your blankets. Your mouth went dry, and your mind froze. You didn’t know what to say. You couldn’t form any words as you stared up at him. Tears leaked from your eyes.
“Please (Y/N), I’ll do anythin’ ya ask. Just tell me ya want be gone, and ‘m gone.”
“You broke my heart,” You whispered. “I never thought you would, and you did.”
Daryl hung his head as he nodded, shoulders shaking. “‘Aight, I understand.”
When he turned and walked to the door you sat up. “Daryl. You’re my husband.” You didn’t know what else to say. But the tear in your heart was so painful you couldn't stand it.
The archer froze and slowly turned around. “Ya my wife.” He whispered, but you heard it clear. You nodded and reached out for him.
He didn’t hesitate; of course, he didn’t. He crossed the room in half a second and fell into you. His hands grabbed your face as he kissed you, pushing you back onto the bed and gently lying on top of you.
“Don’t ever do that to me again,” You mumbled against his lips. “Don’t you ever dare do that again.”
“I won’t.” He promised, his beard tickling your chin. “I will never leave ya again. I swear it.”
You nodded and kissed him, wrapping your arms around his neck. His hand grabbed your waist over your sweatshirt and ran along your side, down your thigh, and back up again.
He was kissing you desperately, and you couldn’t tell if they were yours or his tears you were tasting. But you didn’t care. You didn’t care about anything except for his lips and the weight of his body on you. Grounding you.
“I want you,” You whispered as you pulled away. “I don’t care if it’s a good idea or not. I want you.”
“Darlin’,” Daryl said before kissing you again feverishly. You could hardly keep up with his kiss, hands, and touch. It was like he was trying to make up for all of what he missed out on.
You pawed at his shirt until he took it off, and you leaned up to let him take off your sweater.
“I fuckin’ missed ya,” Daryl nearly moaned before pressing his mouth against your breasts, his tongue circling around your nipple and sucking lightly. You cried out and fisted your hands into his hair. Everywhere he touched sent you on fire, and you couldn’t keep your hips still. Tears burned your eyes, and your emotions swelled. Heartbreak and love mixed together to ache all over your body and mind.
You didn’t realize you were crying until Daryl cradled your face and wiped away your tears. “Don’ cry, pretty girl. ‘M here. Never leavin’ ya again.”
“I missed you so much,” You sobbed as you looked at him. “I missed you so much, honey. Every day, it was like I couldn’t breathe.”
“‘M so sorry,” He whispered.
“I’m sorry for being a shit wife,” You cried.
“(Y/N)-”
“I was, too. We were both shit. I’m so sorry.” You grabbed his face and pulled him into another kiss. “Don’t stop even if I’m crying.” You mumbled.
“(Y/N), I…”
You shook your head. “I need this. We need this. I can’t live without you, I tried. I wanna be close to you. I need to.” When you touched his cheeks you felt he was crying too, and you moved your head up to kiss the tears away. “I need you.”
Slowly, he nodded, and his lips fell to your neck. You were thankful because you needed a moment to collect your thoughts without seeing his face and because feeling his lips after so long had your toes curling.
Daryl lifted himself off you to pull your shorts down, and you heard him groan when he realized there was nothing else underneath them. His hands gripped your thighs tightly, and he propped your legs up and spread them open.
“Daryl,” You whined, reaching for him.
“”M here, darlin’,”
Within a few seconds, he was hovering over you and your hands were rubbing his shoulders. You could feel how hard he was as he ran his cock up and down your center a few times.
“Please…” You begged. “I need you.”
“‘M right here,” Daryl said, groaning when he slowly thrust into you.
“Oh God, Daryl,” You moaned loudly and lifted your hips to meet his.
He rested his head against your shoulder as he slowly moved in and out. Each time he pushed in, you moaned from his touch, and you couldn’t control how desperate you sounded for more.
“I thought about you every time,” You breathed out, grabbing his forearms by the side of your head. “Every time I touched myself, I thought about you. About this.”
Daryl moaned louder than you’d ever heard and lifted his head to look at you. “I did, too.” His hand touched your face, and he wiped away your stray tears. “Don’ cry, darlin’.”
“It feels so good…”
“I know, pretty girl.”
You shut your eyes and bit down on your lip when you felt his tip reach deep inside you. Your nails dug into his arms, and you felt him twitch inside you.
“Promise me there was no one else,” You whispered. “Promise me, Daryl.”
“I promise,” He didn’t hesitate, and he thrust into you harder for emphasis. “Ain’ nobody I wanna be with but ya. Nobody feels like ya do.”
You breathed out in relief, finally accepting his answer as the truth.
“Did ya?” Daryl asked you. “Ya can tell me the truth. I’ll fuckin’ kill the son of a bitch, but I won’ blame ya or be mad.”
“No,” You smiled and cupped his cheek. “Of course not. You’re it.”
Daryl nodded and moved faster, hitting you harder and harder each time he thrust into you. You felt that familiar build-up run through your legs and you wrapped them around him as you climaxed, his name the only thing leaving your lips.
Still, he didn’t stop. He kept going harder and harder, deeper and deeper, until you were withering underneath him. You heard him say I love you, I love you, I love you over and over again. Your legs were shaking, and you couldn’t stop kissing him everywhere you could. His face, his arms, and neck.
“I wanna finish in ya,” Daryl grunted.
You nodded, his words bringing you closer to the edge again. With a few more hard thrusts, Daryl groaned and came inside of you while you hit your own high.
When it was over, he used his shirt to clean you up and pulled you into his arms so your back was pressed against his chest. His lips danced along your neck for a few peaceful minutes of silence and his fingers rubbed the X scar on your lower back.
“Will ya wear your ring?”
“We still have a lot to work on…”
“I know. I just want it on ya.”
You felt him take his necklace off, and then his hands appeared in front of your face. One arm wrapped snuggly around your waist, and the other was your makeshift pillow. In that hand was your ring, and after giving him your hand, he slid it back where it belonged.
His arm around your middle tightened, and you sighed in contentment, the moonlight reflecting off the metal ring. You’d gotten so used to seeing your hand without, and the weight seemed new. But it was a sight that made your heart swell.
***
You woke up the following day to pressure on your legs and a hand caressing your cheek. It didn’t take long to find that Tora was asleep on your legs, and Daryl was awake and watching you while you slept.
“That’s creepy.” You mumbled tiredly.
Daryl’s hand covered the side of your face, reminding you how big it was in the first place. His fingers were rough as always, but it was the most comforting thing in the world to you right now. You closed your eyes when he pressed a long kiss to your cheek.
“Ya look so pretty.”
You smiled, not sure what to say. You wanted to slide back into your relationship with him, especially after last night, but you were still scared. He seemed like the Daryl before the war but more emotional. He’d been talking to you about his feelings, about what he wanted. He was doing everything you ever wanted from him. And it meant the world to you. But could it erase the last few years?
“What ya thinkin’? Ya got that look on ya face.”
You looked at him, taking in those ocean blue eyes hiding behind messy bedhead. His scruff was cut shorter than it had been, and you could see the gray in his beard. “I’m thinking about the time that’s been wasted.”
His finger traced over the scar above your eyebrow, then bushed your bangs back. “Don’ think ‘bout it. We’re here now. Think about that.”
You nodded slowly and took his hand from your face, looking at it. The ring was, of course, there, and you can see a very faint tan line from a few months ago. He’d been wearing it the whole time. Then your eyes roamed to his forearm, and you saw the burn scars. They looked exactly like the one he did on his hand years ago after Beth died.
“Honey…”
“”M fine.”
You kissed his hand and looked at him. “No more, okay? You wanna do it, come find me.”
He nodded and adjusted himself to rest his head against your shoulder and wrap his arm around your lower waist. It was silent for a while, just the two of you breathing and Tora’s soft snores.
“Ya haven’ said I love ya back.”
You furrowed your eyes and turned your head to look, but he was looking down, so you couldn’t see his face. “What?”
“Ya took the ring back, and we… last night. Ya haven’t told me ya love me.”
Your heart ached, and you sighed. “I’m sorry, I just… I’m trying to sort through my feelings.”
He nodded against your shoulder, and you felt him hold you just a little bit tighter.
***
You took a long walk around the Kingdom later that day by yourself. Daryl wanted to go with you, but you refused. You needed time to think about things and just process all the emotions you’ve felt since getting shot. You never got the chance to process dying and being brought back to life by Siddiq and Adam.
Tora didn’t accompany you because she was getting too old to keep up and was more comfortable in the warm room anyway.
You grabbed some food from Nabila, who always gave you something whenever she saw you, and headed back toward your room. The community was pretty quiet, but you could see the lights on. You wondered where Carol was, but you knew she was probably with her family. And you were happy for her.
You hesitated for a while before going back to your room. You weren’t sure if you were ready to face Daryl again. You were so conflicted over what to do. On one hand, he was home. He was with you. He’d buried himself deep inside you last night, and you felt everything you once did and were supposed to. You felt loved. You felt safe and protected. You felt him.
But on the other hand, you were desperately afraid of him doing this again. You couldn’t stop it the first time; how would you be able to do it a second time?
As you rounded the corner to the building you lived in, your bag heavy on your shoulder, you saw Daryl. He was standing outside with Dog, smoking a cigarette, with his crossbow on his back. He looked beautiful. He looked perfect, which was all the more reason you were so conflicted.
“Hey, crazy girl,” Daryl said when he saw you approaching. You grabbed the cigarette from his hand and brought it to your lips, taking a long drag of it. “Thought ya didn’ like smokin’?”
“Yeah, well, I have a lot of anxiety right now, and one won’t kill me.”
Daryl nodded, and you knew he understood what you meant. Dog whined and rubbed his head against your legs, and you gently pet him.
“Well, ya look pretty today.”
You snorted. “I look like I always do.”
“Ya always look pretty.”
“Are you trying to butter me up?”
“Is it workin’?”
You smiled and took another puff. “Listen, Dixon. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about us. And I miss you. And I don’t wanna waste any more time. I wanna be with you. But I’m terrified of you now. I can’t… You can’t leave me again like that. And I just can’t believe you right now when you say you won’t.”
“What can I do to make ya?”
You shook your head. “I don’t know. I just need time, I guess. But I wanna go back to Alexandria soon. It’s been two months, and Michonne needs me. And I miss the kids.”
“I’ll come with ya.”
“Are you sure about that?”
He nodded and reached out to grab you but let his hand drop. “‘M goin’ anywhere ya go. Ya wanna go to Hilltop, Oceanside, California. I ain’ ever leavin’ ya side.”
“And if I get sick of you?”
“Just gonna have to deal with me, then.”
You chuckled and took one last hit of the cigarette. You felt calmer. Then you put it out on the ground. “Alright then.”
“Can I show ya somethin’? Might help make ya believe me.”
***
Two days later, you were bundled underneath a thick jacket, a hat, and gloves--Daryl’s orders. You’d ridden most of the way there on horseback with Jerry, but when you got to a part, Daryl had you get off the horse and load up on supplies. Then Jerry left with both horses and told you someone would be back in two days.
No matter how often you asked Daryl where he was taking you, he didn’t answer. And you didn’t realize where you were until you recognized the river. But you continued on its side for about an hour before following Daryl fully into the woods.
“If my mom saw me following a man into the woods like this…” You trailed off, adjusting the straps on your bag. You didn’t even know what it was, but it was heavy.
Daryl stopped and turned around to look at you. “It ain’ count if the man’s ya husband.” His voice was hoarse and deep as ever. He reached out his hand, and you grabbed it, intertwining your fingers together. “‘Sides, we almost there. Watch out for the traps, put ‘em all ‘round.”
You hummed and walked alongside of him, keeping an eye on the ground. Daryl was creative when it came to traps and snares; you remembered it well from the prison.
“‘Aight, here ya go.”
You looked up from the ground and saw what he was nodding his head toward, and you laughed. You laughed so hard you felt tears in your eyes. “Oh my God, you did not…”
Daryl smiled down at you. “Took me three years. Started it the day ya threw the ring at me.”
You shook your head, dropped his hand, and walked toward the treehouse. It was built around one of the biggest trees with many branches. You knew most of the wood had come from the bridge because it still looked perfect and new. But it was definitely weathered.
“Why did… how did…?” You were at a loss for words.
“I didn’ realize that was what I was doin’ until I started. Think I just needed to keep myself busy.”
You turned around and looked at him. His cheeks were red and he was avoiding eye contact. You walked up to him and grabbed his face before kissing him deeply. When you finally had to come up for air, you smiled. “I love you, Daryl Dixon.”
His hands squeezed your waist. “I love ya more, Dixon."
You could hardly wait to see it and played with your fingers while Daryl climbed up the rope and then threw you down a rope ladder. There was no way you would’ve been able to climb it now, not while you were still healing.
“Good thing I made it,” Daryl said, helping you to the platform. You weren’t as high up as your old treehouse down south, but it was at least eight feet up. “Almost didn’.”
You nodded at his words and moved aside from him, going inside the space. You dropped your bag as you walked around. It wasn’t anything crazy. It was a decent-sized open space with a few open holes for windows. There was a small stone fireplace that he’d actually built into it, so you knew there was a chimney. And then, on the opposite side was a raised platform where you assumed a bed was supposed to go.
“I can’t…” You stumbled over your words as you looked around again.
Daryl leaned against the doorway and stared at you with a small smile. “Never thought I’d get to see ya here.”
“You did this for me?” You asked.
He nodded and set his bags down and pulled the door closed. “Stole a bunch a shit from the Hilltop. And Carol let me borrow some supplies.”
“Daryl, this is incredible.” You walked over to one of the windows and felt the cold breeze on your face. You could see snow flurries. Then you felt hands on your hips and stood up straight so your back was against his chest.
“Ya deserve more.”
You turned around. “No, you deserve more. I’m sorry for everything, Daryl. I mean it. I’m sorry for leaving. I’m sorry for that fight. I’m so sorry for pushing you the way that I did. I think about it all the time. I stopped trying too, and I-.”
“(Y/N), shut the hell up,” Daryl grunted. “We can just start over, here and now. Whatta say?”
You wrapped your arms around his neck and played with the back of his hair. “I think that that sounds perfect.”
☾ “Paint me the Moon“ - Larry Johnson
prompt: It’s your seventeenth birthday, and Larry wants to give you a gift
A gentle plume of smoke spilled from your lips as you leaned further back into the couch. After a full day of partying with Ashley, Sal, and Larry, you four finally got to unwind at your apartment. Sadly, your parents were still gone due to business— promising to make up for it once they returned. Just another common occurrence, but you didn’t mind. It made it easier to have everyone over to just hang out anyways.
You took another drag of your blunt before speaking, “Being seventeen is great and all, but it’s just another year of high school.” You sighed and looked up at the ceiling with a lax smile. You heard Ash and Larry chuckle, and Larry crossed his legs over your lap.
“Just drop out, dumbass. You could always do pole dancing like you joke around abo—“ Larry couldn’t even finish his sentence before you threw a decorative pillow at his face.
“Come on, you know those are jokes. Kinda. Maybe.” You kept changing your words and passed the rest of your joint to Sal, who sat quietly on the ottoman. He was more talkative earlier, but it was getting late and it had been a long day.
As if on queue, Ashley stood from the floor and stretched, a small crack coming from her back. You hadn’t noticed, but she shot Sally a look as if indicating some secret message. “Well, I dunno about you guys, but I’m beat.” She talked as she picked up a bit of the mess, which wasn’t too much of a hassle. Sal stood up as well and ran his hair through his blue locks.
“Same, and I gotta feed Gizmo. When we stopped at my apartment my dad was out, so I can only assume he still is.” His voice was slightly muffled by his prosthetic as he spoke, and he trudged over to where you sat. Sal grabbed your hands and pulled you up into a tight hug. He wished you happy birthday for the millionth time, telling you how grateful he was for you and that he wanted you to trip and eat grass (you had shoved him earlier at the lake and he nearly did the same).
You laughed and pulled away from his arms and was quickly met by Ashley’s embrace, where she nearly squished the life from your frame, spouting quick words of ‘I love you so much’ and ‘happy birthday’. Ash planted a quick kiss on your cheek and looked at Larry, who still sat on the couch lazily. Soon after, it was just you and Larry at your apartment. It wasn’t uncommon by any means— almost every other time all four of you hung out, Larry stayed behind to keep you company. Or you two would simply hang out with each other when the other two were busy.
You nestled back to your spot on the couch and put your own legs above Larry this time, his large palm resting on top of your shin. You could’ve sworn that for a split second, Larry ran his thumb back and forth, but you had smoked a little so you ignored it. But what really threw you off was that he was just… staring. His brown eyes reached into your soul, at least that’s what it felt like. After what felt like an hour, he chuckled and leaned his head back against the headrest.
“Sorry I had spaced out, I was just thinking.”
“You? Think? I don’t think so.” Your laugh was cut short as he pinched your ankle, making you squeal and flinch. “Sorry, sorry! It was too good to pass up. And you definitely set yourself up for that one.”
Larry rolled his eyes and sighed with a soft smile on his face. He almost looked ethereal in the dimly lit room, and you had to shake yourself mentally to avoid staring… again. “I was going to give you a little something for your big day, but maybe you don’t want it after all.” He admitted with a shrug and a simple tilt of his head.
“What?! C’mon, now I’m curious! You never give gifts, so please? I’ll be super nice this time!” You pleaded with him, but the grin on your face contradicted your words. Your hands mimicked a praying motion as you sat up on the couch. your mind raced with thoughts and ideas of what he could’ve brought. Whatever it was, you were bound to cherish it forever and you knew you were going to write this moment down in your journal later.
Larry stood up from the cushions and pulled his long hair into a loose bun that hung at the nape of his neck. “You better behave then. And close your eyes, y/n. Wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise, would we now?”
You immediately complied and placed your hands over your eyes. All you could do was listen as he shuffled around the room, but you knew it was pointless. A comfortable silence filled the room, until Larry broke it with a heavy exhale. “Alright, I guess you can take a look now.”
“You guess? What do you…” You trailed off as you removed your hands, ad you were met face-to-face with the most gorgeous portrait of yourself. Your eyes scanned and admired every minuscule detail, from the way your hair had clung to your skin to the wrinkles of your smile. Not a single word escaped your tongue.
Tears slowly trailed down your cheeks unbeknownst to you as you turned to Larry, who looked anxious to his core. His hands opened and closed as he waited for something, anything— He wanted you to hurry and tell him that you hated it, or that he got your face wrong. God, this was making his heart pound like crazy.
Your voice broke him out of his thoughts, his eyes snapping upwards to meet your gaze.
“Larry… it’s beautiful. I— God, I don’t even know what to say, I…” Your eyes flickered between the painting and the man in front of you.
Larry rubbed the back of his neck and shoved his other hand in his pocket. “Maybe a thank you would work for now?” He chuckled breathlessly and a weight was immediately lifted off his shoulders. But for him, he had one more thing planned out for you. A laugh escaped from your mouth as you wiped the salty tears from your cheeks, shaking your head to try and collect yourself.
The next thing Larry knew, you were wrapping your arms around his neck in a warm embrace. His brain stopped for a moment, any witty comments flying from his thoughts. Without too much waiting, you felt his arms slide around your waist. “I’m glad you like it y/n. I was actually pretty fucking nervous to give it to you.” Larry chuckled in your ear and pulled away just enough to see your face.
You quirked your eyebrow and cocked your head to the side in confusion. Normally Larry wouldn’t have any problem showing you his work. Every time he finished a piece he would invite you over to see it. “Why would you be nervous about it? It’s one of the most beautiful paintings I’ve ever seen from you.” You questioned him innocently, the evident curious tone taking place in your voice.
Larry’s gaze flickered away from yours for a brief moment, “That’s where the second part of my ‘gift’ comes in. That’s really the reason I’m nervous.” He explained with a deep exhale. You couldn’t help but notice how tense he suddenly felt.
“Y/n…. I know I’m not the best person around, that much is obvious. But… can I have the honor of being your boyfriend?” His cheeks flared pink at his quickly spoken question. Both of you sat in a shocked silence but what else were you supposed to do?
Larry couldn’t believe he had actually worked up the guts to ask, and you? You yet again found yourself staring at him with a slacked jaw. Your own cheeks burnt, but you couldn’t focus on anything except the fact that he asked to be your boyfriend. Emotions ran through your body, but the most prominent of them was the sheer and utter joy of it all. You couldn’t remember a time when you didn’t have a crush on Larry, but you always thought it was a hopeless case. But everything is different now. “Are you being serious? Like, this isn’t a joke?”
Larry simply shook his head with a sheepish look plastered on his slender face. Were you that repulsed by the idea of dating him?
You shrieked and found yourself hugged him so hard that he nearly stumbled backwards onto the couch. “Yes! Yes, yes, yes! Oh my God, I can’t believe this is actually happening right now!” You giggled and bounced on your toes, your hold on his body never once loosening. Every other gift paled in comparison (except for the painting, that was definitely the second favorite) to his words. “Fuck, I just wanna kiss you right now!” Your eyes widened at your own words and you blankly gazed at him to await his reaction.
Larry’s hands ghosted over your arms, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. They stopped to cup your face, his own smile sending butterflies straight to your stomach. “Well, I am your boyfriend now. Go crazy. Please.” Larry whispered the last phrase and you couldn’t even stop yourself from kissing him senseless.
