Kai's ex-girlfriends I mean ofc I want head canons

I still have hc requests sitting in my inbox that I am slowly getting to. I promise I see them. I'm just... so busy and overwhelmed with college stuff right now. I'm graduating in less than a month and I have so many final projects/papers to work on. And hopefully after I graduate I'll have more time to write again! I've even been brainstorming original book ideas. Anyway...

Canonically I'm pretty sure Kai hasn't had any girlfriends in the past, but this is too much fun, so imma come up with some interesting people here. Are ya ready kids?

Veronica (Forgive me for this terrible name, it was the first one that popped into my head and I just had to use it)

She's the daughter of some European ambassador who visited with her mother for like 2 years. She's the same age as Kai and moved into the palace when they were both 11 and left when they were 13. Yes, I know that's young. Bear with me and I will explain.

See, like I said in this headcanon, Kai doesn't have many friends, so he was really glad to meet a new person who wasn't 1) the child of one of their staff and 2) an asshole kid from his school.

Kai found her kind and genuine and so... normal. She sort of helped him to just relax and allow himself to be a kid.

They were mainly just really good friends. They spent time together and talked and had fun.

And then, on Kai's 13th birthday, Veronica kissed him. It was just a sweet little peck--they're babies after all--but he still blushed like mad. After that, they'd be seen walking around the halls holding hands and doing cute little things like that. It was a very sweet, innocent middle school type of relationship.

They only kissed one other time and that was as a goodbye when Veronica and her mother left to go back home.

Kai kept in touch with her, but since they were so young, neither of them really understood the whole long distance relationship thing.

Unfortunately a year after Veronica left, she contracted letumosis (i almost fucking said covid wtf) and died.

Her mother mailed him back the bracelet he'd sent Veronica for her 14th birthday, saying she thought he should have it. Every once in a while, Kai will bring it out and smile at it. He feels lucky to have had such a innocent and happy first love and, even though they were both so young, he's grateful for the things she taught him both about himself and about the kind of partner he wanted to be someday.

Iyana

This was a girl Kai met at his fancy, rich person, private school. and they started dating when they were 15.

Iyana was quiet and timid, always sitting in the back of the classroom and praying she didn't get called on. She had a lot of social anxiety.

Kai, the kind-hearted boi that he is, noticed that she was always alone and started sitting beside her (ignoring the jeers from his jerkwad "friends").

They became fast friends even though she was shy. A lot like Veronica, she had a big heart, she was just less vocal about it. Kai sort of helped to draw her out of her shell.

Eventually, she timidly admitted to him that she was one of the few people in their school on a scholarship. She didn't want to tell him because she worried he'd think she was a gold digger.

Kai just smiled and said "Ana, if you were a gold digger, I'd know it by now. Trust me."

They happily dated until Kai's mom died.

He changed after that. We all know Kai is canonically a sassy bean, but I feel like it developed as a coping mechanism after his mother died. He uses sarcasm to cope with things (dont we all?) because 1) he literally wasn't allowed the time to grieve and 2) he was so shocked that it took a while for it to actually sink in.

Iyana tried to help him through it, but Kai just sort of shut down. He didn't push her away or anything like that, he just became numb. And even though Iyana cared very much about him, she's only a young teenager, she didn't know how to help him, especially when she had her own worries about letumosis and her family.

Their relationship just sort of fizzled out, there wasn't any dramatic breakup, just an agreement that they should go their separate ways after dating for less than a year.

Eventually her family moved out of the city, hoping to avoid high letumosis by staying out of crowded areas. And Kai started being "homeschooled."

Skye

This relationship was... complicated. Kai and Skye started dating when he was 16 and she's 17.

At this point in time, Kai is no longer pushing people away, but he's become sort of self-destructive. He makes choices that won't necessarily get him in trouble publicly, he wants to maintain a good image, but he does put himself in some situations that have the potential to be emotionally damaging.

Skye was basically the Regina George of the school Kai used to go to. He knew this when he started his relationship with her. He didn't care because he wasn't looking for something meaningful.

Now Kai is a gentleman, right? I wholeheartedly believe this, but I feel like, given the trauma he's going through, he just wants something uncomplicated. Something he doesn't have to think about too much. Something that helps him forget who he is and what's going on in the world and the fact that his mother died for only a few minutes.

So they basically become make out buddies.

She's not technically a girlfriend, but she wasn't a friend either. She's a way for him to let out some steam.

Later on when he started feeling more himself again, he felt guilty about this. He felt like he was taking advantage of his status as a prince.

He ended up talking to his dad about the situation and Rikan gave him some really good advice without making Kai feel like a terrible person.

That same night, Kai snuck out to go over to her place and end things with her. Skye just raised an eyebrow and asked. "Is that all?" The fact that she didn't seem to care at all really threw him off. He wondered if she was using him as much as he was using her.

After that last experience, Kai swore off dating until he was at least in his 20s... but we all know that didn't happen because he met a certain mechanic/princess.

I don't know if I'm the only one but the way I interpreted this whole Vlive, Jimin felt quite nervous about being in front of the camera alone after awhile (considering the recent events we can understand why) and to me he was almost begging JK to come to help him. Even the whole phonecall when JK was talking about his body and it seems like he understood the urgency of the situation when he said 'should I come in now?'.

Also, to me Jimin grabbing him with both hands was also a silent call for him NOT to leave (please they're so cute!).

Ok, so maybe this is a little premature answering your ask, as I haven't seen the fully translated Vlive yet. I was watching it without the translation and caught up on a few moments, but still want to see the whole thing in one go fully translated.

But, saying that anon, the vibe I got was different.

I don't think JM was nervous to do the live, I really don't think he was.

This isn't JM's first rodeo, and his last live was only around a month and a half ago.

The Vlive was done in JK's studio. Hobi accidently spilled the beans on that one (them getting all flustered and word stumbling, really only making it worse for themselves, as they do per usual in these situations).

I think he wanted JK there, he knew what that meant (the perception, the way they are with each other every single time you put them together in front of a live camera), and perhaps that made him a bit nervous, but also so so giddy.

That phone call with JK it was flirty and soft and JK, as per usual calling JM without honorifics (JM made sure we don't hear what JK calls him when he answers the phone only putting him on speaker after warning him).

JM was shy and happy, oh so happy.

Just one more closing point. We don't know how JM celebrated his birthday eve. We know he had this live and we know he went to meet up with his family after that. But although we don't know what he did, how he celebrated we do know what he told us in his Tweet after the Vlive. He is truly happy, reminiscing on the birthday surprise he had during the Saudi Arabia concert in 2019, saying:

"The thought of being happy because it's your birthday I don't think I've thought about it since when I was congratulated at a concert in the past."

Same concert JK arranged for that little happy birthday surprise during the concert. Same one he went on about during his live the next day.

JM had a good birthday celebration. Obviously his emotional needs had been met.

JM goes on to say:

"Having received such a big congratulation this time, I am happier than ever to meet you and my family. thank you again Thank you again."

He sees the love. He really does.

Notice the use of "this time" and repeating the "thank you again".

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, or maybe just a little too hopeful but I feel a change, a realisation, a shift in the wind, and maybe, just maybe (if I'm not delusional) JM & JK feel it too.

There is still hate out there, but also a hell of a lot of love. And it seems that more and more are coming to the realisation that there is something special between those two.

Look, they are happy . They have the upcoming concerts, the ambassador appointments, perhaps even more in the pipe works we are unaware of, but I think that's not the whole of it. It feels like they are more at ease, with being themselves around each other. Idk. These are early days, and time will tell.

Anyway, point being, ugh, I finally arrived at the point, I don't think this was about JM being panicky begging his bf to come and save him. I think it was JM deciding he wants JK by his side during this live, and being oh so happy and giddy when it came to fruition.
