Cus I love you (super deluxe) - lizzo: this is an album for when I need to get hyped up, I am blown away by lizzos vocals every time

Favorite Color: Green! But I am a big big fan of purple and cyan, too. In general, I like desaturated colours, which I guess is a little weird?

Currently Reading: Oof. I don't have a book I'm currently reading because honestly I have a really hard time focusing on things. The last book I tried reading was "El amor en los tiempos del cólera" by Màrquez. In Spanish, I set myself up for failure, I know.

Last Song: ... I'm pretty sure it was "Clusterhug" by IDKHow. Anyways a song from their album "Razzmatazz". I have been listening to the Higurashi openings a lot, too, lately- I love the vibe (the opening from Kira does NOT count).

Last Movie: "Luca". I watch very few movies (unless they are the occasional horror film in bad quality streaming online). But the last thing I've seen on tv is a random "Criminal Minds" episode, since my mother always has it on at dinner.

Last Show: The last one I've finished was "Link Click" or "Shiguang Daili Ren", the donghua I've talked about a little in some posts. But recent watches are "Fairy Ranmaru" (I can't even begin to comment on it, just WATCH IT) and "Higurashi Sotsu" (which you might know I am watching as it's coming out. I love Higurashi and while the anime isn't very well regarded, I hold it very dear).

Sweet, Savory, or Spicy: Sweet. I have developed a taste for salty food too, but in general I like sweet things. What I love most is taste dissonance: my favourite ice cream flavour is salty pistachio and pumpkin is probably one of my favourite things on the planet. My tastebuds are wack.

Craving: ... A sense of accomplishment and possibly validation. Also the ability to keep on top of everything and do everything at once. Time stopping so I can not do anything for a bit. Also people who talk to me for my non-existent personality c: My very specific craving is: a way to consume media while writng/drawing without losing focus on either thing. And media I'm interested in consuming ugh.

Forever is basically that perfect album, not a single bad track, oops all bangers. It’s electronic dance music and I will sing along and move and groove in my car and YES i love the animation videos that go with it, they’re so cool and my favorite part is that the fandom will just come alive in full force every two years when they release a new one, dude i’m DYING for the next one, they left it on such a cliffhanger AAAAA but Ultra Rare Vol. 2 doesn’t really count?? as an album really?? bc it’s mostly kinda like snippets and demos of old songs that he never released on an actual album but they’re GOOD i wish he finished them especially track 9 bc i hear it and i FEEL IT HEHEHE

Razzmatazz is a Good time and the 1981 EP is definitely smth i play when i have a lot of energy dhhdgh it lets me feel like a menace without having to commit a crime other than driving 5 over the speed limit lol

How to be a Human Being...... there is SO much here like literally i could listen to this album fifty times over and still not be able to tell you everything but specifically Agnes, the last song on the album...... like fuck, that song is so much to me. If I'm allowed to be a little cringe, that song takes my aches, my pains and my sore wounds and it presents them to me. It Makes me Look at them and it comforts me all the same. It's like a hand on my cheek and it tells me that I am deeply flawed and I am loved and it tells me that for tonight, I'm ok and I am ok for a little bit longer. Its literally NOT what the song is about like at all hhhddhjdk but its MY car ride home and I get to choose the interpretation. Also it's such a good one to sing to, I'll sing the instrumentals, the lyrics I'm pretty sure I know it beat by beat lol

The Adventure album is SO GOOD DUDE I know I'm biased bc of nostalgia but its GOOD. Lots of good memories of amvs and edits with this one lol but it's a banger album.

Saint Motel is GROOVY and specifically two songs, My Type and Sweet Talk make me go insane, I'll have a shitty day at work and if either of the two come on shuffle, it's like it never happened I'm just yelling in my car, they make me feel yellow 💛💛💛 and Worthikids is so fun bc a lot of the music that he makes is for the animations that he does and they're legit so good?? Our little gang have had an eye on Fagans Eating House since it opened but their hours didn’t suit and while we said on a couple of occasions we should change our evening meal outings to lunchtime we never got round to it. Then their hours changed and it came back on our ‘must-try list’.

I wouldn’t say any of us were foodies but we know what we like and what we don’t. Often if you eat in or close to the resorts all you are offered is the usual bog-standard fare as many restaurants think they don’t have to try because there is always a new stream of customers coming along next week. Regular readers have heard me say on numerous occasions that while there is the market for sell it cheap, pile it high, there are also those who like quality and don’t mind paying a little extra for it. Anyway rant over, let’s get on to our visit on Thursday evening.

For those who don’t know, Fagans is opposite Aqualand in the parade of characterless bars and shops where unless you are specifically looking for the restaurant you would pass by without a second glance. But I would say right up front DON’T!

There is nothing romantic about the setting, no views, no razzmatazz but our table was nicely laid and the linen spotless and crisp. Our welcome was warm, we were given the menu and Natalie said there was also a 3-course menu del dia at €15. While we considered what was on offer our drinks order was taken. Regular readers know by now, a vodka and coke, 2 soft drinks and a bottle of Dorada (sometimes a red wine but on this occasion beer). Andrew’s bottle must have had a hole in it as needed refilling four times! The rest of us just refilled once more.

The day had been hot if slightly breezy so we weren’t particularly hungry and were about to forego a starter then decided we would share the Farmers Board which consisted of pate, Cheddar cheese, lovely thick honey glazed ham, homemade chutney salad and a superb selection of bread. We were surprised at the amount of food and double-checked that it was just a portion they normally serve for 2 people but in our opinion, there was plenty for the four of us.

When it came to mains Christine ordered the burger that came in a toasted brioche bun with crispy onion rings, red coleslaw and she asked for skinny fries.

The men went for the rack of lamb, one pink, one not so pink, served on spinach, with roasted tomatoes and they had vegetables of sweet potato and beetroot and chunky chips.

I asked about the ‘secret pork’ and while it sounded good Ciaran who does all the cooking said it was a special cut and a little bit fatty although delicious. After humming and hawing, I decided on the rib eye steak with homemade chips, these were the biggest, fattest and most delicious I can ever remember having. I asked for mushroom sauce served separately as I hate food swimming in sauce and all I can say is the steak was cooked to perfection melted in the mouth and was right up there with some of the best I’ve tasted.

At this point, three of us were stuffed but Mr Sweet-tooth tried the apple, elderflower and mixed berry jelly. Naturally, I had a taste and if I had had room for anything else it would have been this, it was sweet but tangy and looked like a beautiful jewel as it sat on the plate.

Which takes me to presentation… When you look at the food on the website you think it must be set up just for a professional photoshoot, but this isn’t the case each plate is beautifully presented with attention to every small detail and making something look good makes it effectively taste good too. We all agreed that every bite we had was superb. Of course it also helps that Ciaran and Natalie are the nicest people and were happy to chat.

If we enjoy a meal we normally leave a decent tip but this was exceptional as was the service so we rounded our €127 bill up to €140 as it was well deserved.

Christine and I cannot wait to go back to sample the afternoon tea, we might just make it a girlie couple hours away from the guys but seeing what is on offer I think they will probably also want to be included.

If I have one criticism it has to be the location. We were the only people in all evening and it seems that once Aqualand closes there is nobody passing by. This is such a shame because the talent that creates Fagans imaginative and delicious food deserves to do well and be suitably recognised. Hopefully, one day they will be front line, but in the meantime, I would suggest they return to there original hours so that Ciaran can spend more time with his 2-year-old and new baby twin daughters.
