Here, have some writing tips.
Celebrating 1000 followers! Love you all ❤
Your first version doesn't have to be permanent.
A lot of writers—myself included—may feel a sort of connection or duty to their original story, draft, plot, or characters. But being afraid to change what you already have will only hinder you. My current WIP (which I'm working on with @leisureflame, check out her blog!) has been changed—and I mean completely flipped around—countless times. We started out in a medieval setting with kings and queens and burning witches, and now it's a dystopian novel set in the future in a country they're forbidden to leave. Our main character was originally dark haired, olive skinned, reserved, fierce, independent, and now she's a sunburn-prone ginger with a sanity deficiency. We've scrapped and replaced multiple characters and sacrificed plot elements we loved to attain what is best for this story. It's incredibly sad, but sometimes, it's necessary.
Don't delete your ideas.
Or excerpts. Or character ideas. An idea's occurred to you at three in the morning? In the shower? At work? Write. It. Down. Immediately. The top surface of my bookcase is littered with random notes in smudged pencil that I've jotted down. Referring back to the last point, if you change or scrap a part of your story, keep it somewhere. I like to keep a notes document that I perpetually add the most random things to: out-of-context lines of dialogue, phrases I like, new vocabulary, character descriptions—anything, really. Even if you know you're probably never going to have occasion to use it, take note of it anyway. You never know when a previous idea will be just the element you need in your story. And if not, well, they're fun to read over later.
Free write.
I know I covered this in a recent post, but I'd just like to stress on it again. Open a document or a page in your notebook and just start writing. Whatever comes to mind. Doesn't matter how nonsensical or embarrassing or muddled, as long as you're writing. This exercise can really help regain or maintain your creative flow. You'll end up with some passages that are horrible and that you will never deign to set your eyes upon in the rest of your years, and others you'll cherish. In any case, whether the result is good or atrocious, you'll have written something. It's a good way to combat writer's block, or boredom. I recommend it.
Hope this helps. Thanks for all your support!

Random fucking post bc im. Mad. Gonna try not to say any buckwild shit bc it's not really my place but. Eugh. First of all it feels weird as fuck to see a hing that's is a call-out for like 3 diff ppl working on co-host and someone pointing out "hey the first person here (who is a transfem) is being slandered" (this isn't the weird part bc. Transfems r extra vulnerable to slander n pedojacketing) which includes a screenshot from the Transfem in question saying "the accusations are focusing on my actions when I was being groomed and abused" and respond "PURITY CULTURE!!! WHY ARE PPL SO MAD ABOUT FICTIONAL CHILDREN THIS IS THE PROBLEM WYOUNG LGBTS" like. 1. Why is it about purity culture and not trans misogyny (also not what purity culture fucking is) 2. GROOMING. GROOMING IS WHY! GROOMING IS THE PROBLEM MOTHERFUCKER FICTIONAL STUFF CAN BE USED TO GROOM MINORS (HEY, QUICK ASIDE- YOU CAN EASILY SEPERATE FICTION FROM REALITY. KIDS FUCKING CANT! I KNOW FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING A CHILD EXPOSED TO CSA BEING NORMALIZED/DENIED IN FANFIC).
And let me say again: young transfems are also especially vulnerable bc they often have little to no support system, meaning not only can ppl get them Into those situations with promises of friendship and community, it becomes crazy hard TO GET OUT
Second thought is if any of the cunts who were like "megapope was kinda right honestly" start making hammer car jokes they should delete their fucking accounts

how and why is there discourse about whether or not certain queer identities exist/if people should be allowed(???) to use them. why is "people know their own identity better than you ever could, and they're the only one who get a say on what they are" such a tough concept to grasp
i think if you find yourself offended by the label someone uses (especially if they're a stranger) or think it invalidates your own, it's a good idea to look inside yourself and question why that may be. more often than not, it's a result of insecurity or uncertainty of your own identity (or many other things, but i won't make a whole list here). whatever reason it is, until you resolve it, you shouldn't take it out on people for having an identity you don't understand
many have said it before but it's worth saying over and over. infighting only helps our oppressors. conservatives don't care if you're a cis gay or a xenogender aegosexual aplatonic lesbian, they hate all of us either way. trying to fit in by going for people who are easier targets for them isn't gonna help you, it'll just alienate you from your own community, and you're never gonna please them. the momentary rush you get from hearing you're not like "one of /those/ gay people" is not worth it and is gonna do more harm in the long run, i assure you
also, it is important to me to say this, but having some less than nice kneejerk reaction caused by confusion about an identity you don't understand doesn't mean you're a bad person or anything. as long as you aren't mean to that person, and you take a second to think smth along the lines of "wait a minute, this isn't any of my business" after having said reaction, you're good 👍 a lot of reflexive reactions we have to things are ingrained into us simply by. well. living in a society 🤡 and you're not terrible for having those thoughts. it's your actions that matter, and your second thought (the "wait, why did i just think that?") is more defining of your actual character and morals than your reflex. i know that having thoughts like this, even tho they're unwanted, can very easily make one spiral, so it's important to me that whoever needs to hear this knows this doesn't make you a bad person 🙏 you're good, keep taking actions to be good, accept other people even if you don't understand them, and you're on the right track :)

ok this is gonna sound wild. BUT. Me and my buddy @honeycomb-ferret are attempting to start up a clangen universe vaguely based on cults and evangelical religion, each clan being a different denomination of sorts. Very religious trauma/how growing up under different religions raises many types of different people type framework on a clangen blog. Rn I have it set as four clans but as little as three and as many as can border one another is fine, I love working with others and sharing universes and creativity
I also want to make it clear I’m not asking for free art. It would be your clangen blog and your cats and game and final decision on everything, I’m just looking to work with others on a creative project because I love bouncing ideas off others and sharing worlds with people. And if any of that sounds interesting to you hmu!!! Tags message whatever, just lmk if you’re interested!

before i pass out for the night. since my brain is back on dan and phil as if its 2016 or something i need to put this out into the world. this isnt some sort of important life changing post, just a personal funny thing
so when i was 13 and fixating on dan and phil, i read a lot of fanfics. like, i guarantee that even after all these years that, if i had the statistics, that fandom was the one i read the most fanfics for and constantly. i couldnt tell you what nearly any of them were about, and i have a feeling that many of them are probably lost to time by now. i also dont know if i need to mention that yeah, a lot of them were shipping, and yes ive long grown out of that. (the dnp fandom is actually what made me grow out of that)
anyway all this to say that over the last 6 years after i stopped fixating on dan and phil, one fanfic stuck with me and i just. i think about it every once in a while. its been over half a decade. it wasnt a groundbreaking fic, i dont remember any quotes or specifics, just the premise as of at least the first few chapters. idk why it stuck with me
it was literally a fic about. if the world had gotten to a point where almost every child was born as like, a science baby instead of a natural baby, and phil was a science baby, but dan was a natural baby. and there was somehow this like, thing where the science babies would bully the natural babies for some reason idek, and this was a highschool setting and i think dan was a new kid in school. and what gets me about the fic is that dan was some small shy scared kid and phil was some mean jerk bully. and how wild that is compared to how they are in real life
this isnt me trying to find the fic or the person who wrote it or any of that, this is literally just. i remember this fic at least once every few months and i needed to get it out of my brain somewhere

The number of posts I’ve been tagged in for the “My Year In Review” as one of peoples’ “top 5 blogs your reblogged from” is both startling and validating. Since one intention for this account is to reblog items that I think is either valuable for people to read due to political / social reasons *or* entertaining in a way that will bring a literal smile to their face on a bad day (and I know a lot of us have been having bad days), it’s nice to have confirmation that so many of you who opted to follow this blog feel the content I have reblogged is, indeed, worthy of continuing to be passed along to your own followers.
Or, possibly you just like all my reblogs of cat photos, which is absolutely valid. I’m reblogging them catses for a reason, after all. ^ _ ^
