But I couldn't place it, so I tried to remember which series have I watched so many times that I'm familiar with the music. I reached the tentative conclusion that it must be from SIMM or possibly from Hidden Agenda (but I definitely connected it to JoongDunk). Maybe I need to do a complete rewatch of both series to confirm, what a hardship 😂 I just wanted to tell you that maybe aside from being a JD vampire bl truther, this will be your other legacy

midday tuesday

sort of getting a handle on the volume of work i have to do. ough. writing this tuesdaypost while i wait for the initial step of a simulation to finish running so i can see if what i'm doing is correct.

listening: listening to haken's fauna album again because i'm seeing them live soon (!!)

next listening (against my better judgement because you can probably figure out where i live based on it): local bar had some bands this past weekend, i missed the first group (dopplepopolis) unfortunately because i am chronically late to things that don't have consequences but allegedly they did a holst mars cover ?? which sounds fascinating and i'm so mad i missed it. the second group was alright (the lunar diamonds), pretty good stage presence and they clearly had a lot of fun but their original songs were a little forgettable to me, their cover of psycho killer WAS a banger. i'm very sad they don't have that put up on spotify. but the third group (please her). oohhhh baby. i fell a little bit in love with the lead singer, not gonna lie! i went and listened to their spotify and while some of it really doesn't hit the same as the live performance it's still very fun. she had a spray bottle full of water and was periodically spritzing the audience. at the very end she was like "welcome to church, you may be seated" and had us all sit/crouch on the floor to listen to her announcements about the band over a groovy backing track. their bassist is INSANELY good too. mans be slappin that thang. they listed their genre as "scorpion core" which i still do not understand but god bless 'em.

anyways. they have one album out right now (bandcamp / spotify) and it's worth giving a listen. favorite track: 12 @ the Party, followed closely by Fellas!. i will probably buy it next bandcamp friday.

the lunar diamonds only have one track up on spotify but it is one of their originals that i found toe-tappy: Treads

i'll have to give the band i missed a chance but it will likely not hit the same as if it were live. c'est la vie

finally, haven't finished the release radar for this week yet, but i do really love ethan bortnick. the way he meshes classical-inspired piano with the alt beats is just so fun. hide n seek

reading: next mdzs book came in from the library! truly nothing like the rush of getting the notification "your book is ready to take out" before the estimated date :3 so i'm a little ways into volume 2 now, we're in yi city, xue yang is soooo much more obviously desperate to get xiao xingchen fixed in the book than in the show. loser (affectionate)

watching: next verse same as the first. dungeonmeshi and kill la kill with boyf. the kelpie animations were really fun and also the kraken !! good shit. there are other posts that have explained this better but i love the way trigger is animating the backgrounds. as for klk, we're on ep15 now! i have forgotten sooo much of this show, nui harime showed up and i was like oh SHIT i forgot about her !! entirely!!! so it's been a really fun rewatch.

playing: ran dnd saturday and played dnd on monday! saturday dnd defeated the mdzs dancing fairy :b at some point i will probably design something that involves finding a haunted arm pointing in a direction to reuinite its body a la nie mingjue but we've got some very strong anti-undead characters in this party so that may not go over very well. monday dnd involved getting hunted by a spooky fey hyena and getting robbed by a goblin group. something something goblin microaggressions. still fun even though i was VERY sleepy by the end of it.

making: pottery that i FORGOT TO PHOTOGRAPH ... i was like "i'll take pics at open studio saturday" and then the kiln was running so, on one hand, yayyyy kiln! on the other, no pics for this tuesdaypost. so. more pics next week. i did make some hopefully-teacups for my bf, depending on how severe the shrinkage is, but these are the smallest items i've been able to make (0.5lb clay) and it's sooo much harder than i thought it would be. pics with ruler for shrinkage measuring purposes

you might catch in the first photo that the top cup has noticeably thicker walls than the others ... don't worry about it ......

eating: coconut fish and tomato bake thing that i added too much lime to by accident but still tasty... sheet pan tofu and brussel sprouts!!!! so this is an elite one, adding to the arsenal. literally just halve the sprouts and cube the tofu, drizzle w olive oil and salt and peppy, roast at 450 til its. done. whenever. while that's roasting make rice. the sauce is 1:1 ratio of tahini to hoisin sauce with minced garlic to taste. it is To Die For and SO easy. last night roommate made turkey meatballs with couscous and even though the couscous burned just a little bit it was still yummy!

misc: turns out ... if your body wants ~9 hours of sleep a night but you make it live off of 7 for weeks on end ....... eventually you will get sick LOL. probably partly alcohol ibs stuff but still. sunday was a total wash for me and i went to bed at 10pm and felt normal monday morning. so. i need to just be going to bed earlier (pain). work this week not as terrible at least. i am doing my shit that i need to be doing and it's going okay! which is good because i'm calling it an early week kinda for that concert hehe. oh valentines day! boyf got me a little leatherman multitool keychain and it's so cute and i love it, and i got him a bird scope phone holder so he can take bird photos easier!!!

hey! i've been rewatching s6-7 of pll and your posts on my dash got me thinking. what are your thoughts on the inclusion of liam's character and aria's police report in the time skip, if you have any? interesting choice for a show that up until that point refused to acknowledge age gaps, even within the context of ezra and aria

i haven't reached that point in my rewatch yet, and i only have some vague memories, but i loved that aria made that report. she frames it as a form of revenge that she immediately regretted, but i think at least a part of her knows she's been seriously hurt by ezra, and that she was indeed a victim in that situation. it makes sense that she would take it back too, because she's very protective of ezra and of the idea that their relationship was a good thing for her -- natural responses from someone who's been groomed as she was.

unfortunately, the show dropped the whole thing against ezra, and i don't really like any of the decisions made in the last season... that was a mess, and almost unrecognizable as pll. the campiness was there, but the writing was awful, they just seemed to not care about the characters anymore.

liam's character was kind of a wasted opportunity imo. he and aria should've bonded more over their respective affairs with teachers. though tbh liam was kind of annoying, so maybe that's why he disappeared. still, there were a number of male characters/possible love interests that orbited aria and never really got anywhere. i think that makes some kind of sense -- she was enthralled with ezra, and other men (or, especially, boys her own age) stood no chance at all. the false promises of aria's age appropriate love interests did convey that she had become emotionally dependent of ezra, psychologically chained to him in a really unhealthy way, because he fostered that dependency on her. but on the other hand, a lot of it does feel like wasted potential. the worst example of wasted potential imo was malcolm, ezra's fake kid. the plot was a perfect way to make aria see the gap between her life as a teenager and ezra's life as an adult man, and she did see that -- i don't have a problem with the fact that she eventually got back with him anyway, because that does feel right for her character arc at that point in time, but the way the subplot was resolved was so hilariously bad. i wish the reveal had never happened, and malcolm and maggie just continued to exist in the background. it wouldn't have to change anything if they moved to another town because ezra being an absent father would be 100% in character.

but getting back to the police report, i actually don't think that was entirely new. the show never really shied away from acknowledging the fact that aria and ezra's relationship was illegal, and that's actually one of the major tensions early on. the show even explores how aria feels burdened by the secret, and guilty over possibly ruining ezra's life. she feels entirely responsible for his decision to date his teenage student, and that causes her a lot of hurt. so it didn't exactly surprise me that the show would venture into that territory again, i just wish they'd wrapped it up better and stopped trying to appeal to ezria shippers.

like, rewatching the show i really think aria/ezra is initially a well written relationship, and that the show does explore the ways in which it's very unhealthy for aria, it just doesn't commit to it in later seasons. there are many great moments where it's clear that the writers understand the issues there, but those are always followed by cowardice and bad writing.

anyway, ezra is still -A in my heart.

First Ever Ship

It's hard to pinpoint the exact pair... Hmm... I'll tell you about the first one I remember being obsessed about, as in reading all the fics available about them-obsessed. I was eleven? Twelve? Anyway. That would be Cato and Clove, from The Hunger Games. They were not canon in the book (or the movie! They were done SO dirty in the movie!!! I CAN'T EVEN FIND A GIF OF THEM TOGETHER TO INCLUDE HERE 😤), there were just one (or two?) moments that could be interpreted like that, if you had a wild imagination 😅 Fortunately, at that time, me, and a bunch of other kids who enjoyed the tragedy of it all, read too much into it.

So, while everyone else was discussing the love triangle of the main characters or shipping themselves with Finnick Odair, we were in a dark corner crying and throwing up because of two kids who were raised to become killing machines—the star-crossed lovers from District 2, as we liked to call them.

1. GAP. I haven't watched the most recent episode yet, but it seems we're reaching the climax of the story. I'm already dreading the moment I'll have to let go of all my girls (+ Mon's step-father) :(

2. Star & Sky Series. I've finished Star in My Mind, and I'll start Sky in Your Heart (which is the part two? the spin-off?) soon (allegedly. Never trust a 'soon' coming from me).

3. TharnType. Only a few more episodes to go. Absolutely bonkers show.

4. Summer Strike. The healing type that I had been saving for when I needed it most.

5. Beyond Evil. I had been saying for a long time that I was going to rewatch BE, but never got around to do it (16 episodes! Who has the time!!). My brother was browsing Netflix looking for something for us to watch together, and suggested BE. I thought he was joking (he has already rewatched it 5 or 6 times by himself 🙃), so I agreed, also joking. Turns out, he wasn't joking 😀😀 So now we're watching it again (*in my first time, I watched it with him as well). It's been a really different experience, watching it from the perspective of someone who knows what they should be paying attention to (I wish I had forgotten the details so I could enjoy the unpredictable mystery again, but it seems I still remember most of it 😅) .

Pikmin 4 release trailer thoughts

oh boy oh boy! I've been waiting for more info on Pikmin 4! So I decided to go over my thoughts on the trailer here, I haven't watched any vids yet of other peoples thoughts so these are without contamination (save for already existing speculation videos from before this trailer came out) I'll be rewatching the trailer now.

So far, we see a ship that warps in and flys down to the planet. Something that caught me attention about this trailer is that it appears the group that landed on PNF came to it on purpose. Also they don't appear to have crash landed, which is a surprise because how all other times folks have landed on PNF, they crashed. It's a wonder how this might effect the popular Umibozu theory due to the crash landings being important for that theory.

The idea that these explorers seem to be here on purpose makes one wonder what they are here for. Treasure? Fruit? Some other collectable? Are they just here to explore? To study the planet? What planet are they from? Hocotate? Koppai? A new planet? How did they learn of PNF too?

But moving on, I also noticed that the music they play in the beginning is the sound that plays when Pikmin are marched in Pikmin 1 & 2. This doesn't mean anything, I just think it's cool they included that.

Next we see a bunch of man made things, such as the bench from the first trailer. But most importantly this includes a house! A human house! I hope we get the chance to go in there! The house looks perfectly in tact which is really interesting, are there any humans still around, what would be the ramifications of that? I remember seeing at least one theory some time ago that there's something wrong with the flow of time on that planet. Mostly that theory had pointed out how it's weird that Pikmin 2 had a bunch of human artifacts and 1 and 3 don't, even when 2 depicted some of the same areas as 1. The theory was that 2 was only a bit after humans got wiped out while 1 and 3 were farther in the future. It looks like 4 might be set even farther in the past.

Also it appears that the houses backyard is either the main setting or one of the settings in the game.

Also, Also! Baby Snagrets! They are SO cute!

After this we see the smaller ship drop someone off, this is part of what I mean when I say this landing looks deliberate. This wasn't a crash landing at all.

But anyway we meet our main captain! Clearly the one from the screenshot. There was speculation about whether they were Brittany or a new character, well they're new! It's interesting that their color is red which is usually used by Olimar. Olimar's suit only had red accents though, this suit is fully red. Also the little antenna light is a more saturated red.

I love how much onions look like tomatoes, every game I swear it's more and more like one. It looks very organic! And we still have the vine legs from 3, which I'm happy about. Anyway I just find it funny that they are called onions but they look so much like tomatoes.

Next we see another mixed onion, like in 3. But while 3, and also Hey!Pikmin (I think) had mixed onion that looks like lava lamps, this mixed onion looks like different pieces stuck together, it's a static image. Not sure how to feel about that, it's not a big deal but I liked the lava lamp look. We also have confirmation that the 3 main types are back but we already knew this from the screenshot.

We see several scenes of the main captain walking around, I'm not going to get too into the details here. But this bit of the video starts to really show how the new camera movement is looking, honestly it doesn't look to bad so far. But we'll see how it actually feels when we play the game.

Other things I noticed. There's a kid elephant slide in the background of one shot, I hope we get to slide down it, that'll be cool. Also I see a bridge puzzle, so those are back. Sand walls are also back but the one I see here is much longer than they normally appear, and some sort of gem(?) came out when it was destroyed. Maybe all long walls drop gems? We see a new obstacle, where the pikmin pull on some roots to get a plant out of the way, that's neat. There's also some sort of rock climbing wall? I wonder how it's built, exactly. But the captain can climb up it no issue and so can the Pikmin.

Just after rock climbing I see an enemy I have never seen before. Either it's new or It's in one of the games I haven't played, like maybe Hey!Pikmin. It looks a bit like a bird but it's got a mouth that's like a firery blowhog, mabye it also breaths fire? If it's from Hey!Pikmin it might help confirm if that spinoff is cannon.

We see the pikmin carry a pair of binoculars. It gets collected and is called "treasure" so maybe these new guys are also after treasure? Is it for the same or different reasons as Olimar and Louie? It could also be an upgrade, maybe.

Something I haven't mentioned yet is I've noticed that the courser shows what Pikmin you have selected for when you throw them. I think that's neat but I wonder if we'll have anything like the menu 3 had for that, so that we have an easy way to switch what Pikmin type we have selected.

And here we get to a big new reveal, Ice Pikmin! A new type! When I first saw this vid I wondered if the trailer would show any more new types, it hasn't. Either we only have 1 new type (unlikely considering the pattern), or we'll find out what it is later. They have yellow flowers, similar to the Pikmin 4 logo.

So about Ice Pikmin abilities... first off they can freeze an enemy if it eats them. The freezing affect is similar to bitter spray from 2. Also it's neat that they get eaten for that to activate, similar to White Pikmin, but different enough to be it's own thing. A solid way to balance a powerful ability, I just hope the freezing effect is not to OP.

Another thing, it seems they can survive in water, shallow water at least. They freeze the water and it can be walked on, it appears that they get stuck in the ice though? and can't follow you? I wonder if you can get them unstuck. But ability to just walk over the water is a really powerful one, you can't interact with anything still in the water, that's blue pikmin domain, but you can get over it like wings can, but this time you can bring all your pikmin! I wonder how to know how many ice pikmin you need to freeze water. The captain threw in a whole bunch in the trailer. Maybe the amount thrown in affect the speed in which it freezes?

Then we get another huge reveal, a dog! I suspect this little barker is a hocotatian dog. It does resemble a Bulborb what with the spotted back, being bipedal, the eyes being similar despite not being on stocks, and the mouth also being somewhat similar. I'd say this is a very safe assumption. It's cool that we can finally see what they look like! They are cute! I like that it resembles a Bulborb but still looks like a different distinct creature.

The dog can break through barriers, not sure yet if there are dog exclusive barriers. The dog can also life the amount a purple pikmin can carry, but because it's not a pikmin I wonder what it does when it drags a carcass to the ship does it leave it there for the pikmin for later, is it sold as treasure, or something else? But anyway being able to carry so much weight is real useful!

We also see that we have a crew of 4 characters here, carrying on the tradition of one more captain per game. They are all wearing the same color of suit. I wonder how similar the multitasking in this game is to 3, is it the exact same but with just one more? That we be a lot of keep track of. Or are they going to shack it up and have crewmember(s) who do something different. I wonder who the dog belongs to. The fact that they have a hocotatian dog points to the idea that they might be from hoctotate, but we don't know for sure.

Now getting to another insane power of the dog, it fucking swims! And the pikmin can jump on! Is there a limit to the amount the dog can ferry? What's the point of ice if the dog can swim everybody across? Unless you permanently lose ice pikmin if you use them to freeze water, this can be an alternative. Also there might be strategy involved with who gets the dog for multi-tasking. Also the good boy is named Oatchi, I love them but I hope they aren't too broken.

Next! Caves are back baby! I don't know if they are randomly generated like 2, but they are back! Maybe ice pikmin come from candy pop buds like purple and white? We haven't exactly seen its onion. I wonder if hey are randomly generated or not. There's also mention of finding a castaway.

I wonder if castaways are a regular part of gameplay or a one time story thing. Like how many people are getting stuck on PNF? Is this character important? Are they a new character? Are they old? The suit doesn't really resemble any of the previous suits we've seen before. This just makes me wonder if we are going to see any of the older characters make an appearance.

We also see boss battles! A new long legs to battle! It looks like a disco ball and has wires on its body. I wonder if it has electric attacks. There's also an older boss from pikmin 2 that returns. The really gross Bulborb Queen thing. It's interesting to note that we see the captain riding the dog, along with a bunch of pikmin. Is this a way to keep pikmin safe during battle? I wonder if you can ride the dog anywhere, is it faster than walking?

After this cave section we see the main captain and the dog ride off in the little pod. Where are they going? Why only them? the main ship seems to be staying in place. Maybe it's a more permanent location? Like are they trying to create a settlement or something? That would be an interesting plot to see. The onion of course follows them. but also, why is the onion following them? why not stay in place with the other people?

Then we see something pikmin players have been wanting for a long time, night time levels! really great menacing music, I hope it lives up to the height of how dangerous it's supposed to be. There appears to be some sort of glowing collectable, they look a bit like stars, not sure what they are. The bulborbs eyes beam red, what's the deal with that? It gives real danger vibes though. I wonder how they'll be made more dangerous besides being awake all the time.

Moments of Stupidity

What I mean is, I feel like listing all the instances I can think where a character does something stupid, whether it be their natural inclination to be or just taking a turn holding the stupid stick. By the time Oops rolled around, I wasn't at all upset by the characters' stupidity because, around the time Exes and Oohs came around, I learned that Helluva Boss is one of those universes where plots only happen because everyone is naturally an idiot. The degrees of which are varying but most, if not all, the plots happen because someone's a moron.

And like I said, I feel like doing this so why not? So whatever examples I can think of as I recall the whole series by far, I'll list here. Now for those who have this seriously favorite character of theirs - which is bound to be everyone, especially those who give some of their time to read this list - sorry if they end up on this list. But please remember that I'm in the belief that Helluva Boss is an universe full of idiots and that the only true difference is the varying degrees of it. So that means even my favorite characters aren't exempt from this list and I'll put the examples of stupidity when I come across it in my head. And what are my standards of stupidity, at least in this case? Instances of someone doing or saying something that leads to consequences that could have been avoided if they just had common sense and/or information that should have told them the more sensible thing to do or say but didn't because it's clearly shown that they weren't inclined to using a fucking braincell (And yeah, I know that Viv and her writers are in control over how stupid the characters are but I believe my point still stands. If someone doesn't want others to say shit about them, then that someone shouldn't do shit so stupid that it gets others to say it)

And I think I'll post it one episode at a time. That way, it'll be easier for me, especially when I'm posting late at night because that's usually when I do it, and because new episodes of Helluva Boss will come out and I'd have to make another post anyway. Seriously, if I'm hearing right, then another episode of Helluva Boss is already going to come out on Halloween. Finally, I think I'll either save the pilot for later or even pass on doing it since, as far as I know, pilots to shows aren't really canon. Haven't decided yet. Finally, please let me know if I missed any instances of stupidity because I'm just going off on memory and I don't love the show enough to go back and rewatch episodes

Anyways, without further ado...

Murder Family -

No one putting fire safety procedures or even just any safety procedures on the book. You'd think that if Blitz cared so much about getting screwed over in the worst way possible, then he'd make sure it's for sure safe in wherever it's kept. And yeah, I'm feeling that Blitz didn't do that when demanding if 'the fancy book is still intact'. As in, it sounds like there was a chance that the Grimoire could have been destroyed in the fire and Blitz knew it. So it was probably just lucky that Loona. Maybe it's slightly better that Blitz kept the Grimoire in the safe but, as Seeing Stars shows, it's its own moment of stupidity. (Which I'll get to in due time)

Blitz happily telling Moxxie that they're gonna ruin a family rather than killing a family. I guess this example isn't as bad as blatant examples latter down the line but it still resulted in his softer-hearted employee to intervene. All because Blitz is fully expecting Moxxie to be as cold as him. So it's still understandable given that Blitz is bound to not know the exact details of Moxxie's mother - that already giving Moxxie a reason to care so much about a family being ruined even if he was as cold-hearted as his boss - but I'm pissed off that Blitz at no point even thinks that it was his fault that they were in that mess and keeps pinning the blame entirely on Moxxie. Seriously, if Blitz didn't happily gloat about how they're going to ruin a family, then Moxxie wouldn't have interfered with the shot. What makes this a little stupider is that Blitz should have known Moxxie well enough by then since they apparently met each other in jail and broke out together. Meaning that Blitz should have known well enough that Moxxie isn't as cold as him or at least not enough to enjoy the thought of ruining a family. Because yeah, Millie was all 'if that's what the clients want' due to professionalism so it made a difference when it came to Blitz's attitude on the matter; I was able to tell that he liked the idea. (Which is seriously messed up given the episode Oops now that I think about it). Even if Blitz didn't know a single damn thing about Moxxie other than his name, Moxxie acted clearly enough that he didn't like the idea of killing a family so why would he find it better to ruin one? Yet Blitz just keeps up the anticipation over doing that like it wouldn't cause Moxxie any distress

Moxxie messing up the shot. Same thing as above example, it's understandable, especially when you get the context, but it still led to the family of Satan-worshipping cannibals to go after Moxxie, his wife, and his boss. If an action brought on by impulse and/or emotion leads to disastrous results, as stated above, then I'll be hard-pressed to call it smart. Blitz is to blame but just by half or at least partially. I can't ignore that Moxxie did mess up the shot and got them discovered by the crazy-ass family and put them all in danger

Blitz for fucking confirming to Martha when she gets the idea to just shoot him and Millie. Just because the fire didn't hurt you didn't mean you were invulnerable to fucking dying in general. Especially according to Viv who says that imps are just as vulnerable as living humans when it comes to dying and to just as many things (as much as she's being inconsistent about how she writes her characters and her show) Just because Martha would have thought of another way to kill you off when she inevitably discovers that the fire doesn't work, as well as her husband no doubt going to help brainstorm in permanent killing solutions, doesn't mean you had to confirm that shooting you will work. If Millie actually bothered calling you out, then it's a stupid move. Moxxie put you in that situation but you definitely didn't have to add more fuel to the fire, especially if your employees - with one of them right there with you and in just as much danger as you - is supposed to be so fucking important to you

Oh, and let's not forget the fucking phone. Blitz didn't put his phone on fucking vibrate. Considering that, in the human world, with his two field employees with him, there'd be no one but Loona to call or to be called by. And just because Blitz never expected to be running for his life. He's supposed to be an assassin. As in, no one's supposed to see him or notice him. As in, Blitz isn't supposed to be drawing attention to himself. So why the fuck would he not even put his phone on vibrate? That way, he'd just feel someone calling him instead of broadcasting his location to anyone and everyone who can hear it. And in the case of Murder Family, that includes a serial killing, Satan worshipping cannibal who's trying to shoot him dead. It's just that, in the dangerous situation that Murder Family provided, not putting the phone on vibrate became even stupider

Let's not forget Stolas now that I think about it. Yeah, he's incredibly selfish and self-centered for calling Blitz for transactional fucking when the imp is in the middle of trying not to get shot. He's still stupid because, if getting imp dick was so important to him, then he should have known that distracting Blitz in a survival situation like trying not to get shot could result in him DYING. Unless Stolas is gonna bring Blitz back from the dead or just outright perform necrophilia, then that horny owl won't get any transactional fucking whatsoever!

I'll probably include Mayberry, too. After all, she was completely overrun with emotion that overrode common sense when finding out that her husband was cheating. She never at any point turned off the computer, not before she left the school and especially not before shooting herself, especially if Mayberry is gonna act like her students are precious to her. Although I said I'll 'probably' include Mayberry because her actions have been inherently selfish. When she left the school, she thought about getting revenge to satisfy herself, well, she never thought of turning off the computer so that the kids wouldn't have to see it. Then Mayberry realizes what she did and she still never turned off the computer before committing suicide, which just traumatized the kids even further than what the teacher would have wanted. So maybe Mayberry genuinely loved and cared about her students but got so emotional that she lost common sense concerning the computers and her students, which would make it stupid. If not, then the concern for the students' mental well-being was just a facade and the only stupid thing she did was still not turning off the computers so that she wouldn't have witnesses and so wouldn't feel the need to kill herself to escape being convicted (okay, so I did still find a stupid moment in there)

(And yeah, I bitched on Blitz far more on Moxxie. There's probably favoritism, at least partially, but all this still seems and feels pretty damn logical. Besides, it does help my opinions on my most favorite that Moxxie took responsibility for his goof-up, complete with apologizing, while for my least favorite, it only hurts when Blitz fucking pinned the blame entirely on Moxx and threatened to rape him and Millie for another screw up. Besides, this is just the first episode of the series proper. I'm sure everyone will take a turn in being an idiot, and in large quantities)

17- Monsters And Men (Reprise)

Rewatched Black Friday recently while this one is still good, I just feel like McNamara didn't need another song. The ending with the scream overlap is nice though!

16- Wiggly Jingle

Do I need to say anything about this one? I get it's meaning in the context of the show but I shit you not when I first watched Black Friday I was unsure if this one was meant ironic or not. I was a little scared the whole show was going to be like this at first. I don't really like the song itself but the choreography is great!

15- Monsters And Men

Haven't really gotten into this one yet, I realize that it's good but it's just not that catchy to me as of now. The ending is pretty great though.

14- Adore Me

Great acting on Lauren's part. A bit slow for my taste and short but ut was supposed to be longer so I get why they cut it. Also really funny ending. Love the choreography.

13- Califor.M.I.A

Always great when that song starts while your mom is around. Anyways. I like the energy of this one, while the letter part is a little long and I wish the "that's not how cameras work babe" part would have been included on the cast recording, it's still pretty good. Also relatable.

12- Wiggle

I was a little sad that Lauren didn't get any great songs in Black Friday, but I've come to like her songs quite a lot lately. Especially the dance break at the ending of this one is pretty cool. I am not a fan of the stylistic singing choices on Lauren's part if I'm honest but to give her credit the song is pretty much the lowest she has had to sing.

11- Deck The Halls

Really catchy and funny to watch if you've seen way too many Christmas/holiday movies, but I kinda dislike that the entire dialogue was kept on the cast recording. But sidenote, I love the fact that they included this movie so well in the show and also referenced it in NMT. A bop overall and even funnier because of how straight it is played.

10- Made In America

Yes I got into this song not so long ago but Joey is (I know I have said this way too many times on this list) low key terrifying. He did a great job though. Also I skip the Wiggly part because it still feels weird to me. Joey really flexed his wagon on fire muscles here.

9- If I Fail You

I feel like this one is very similar to What Tim Wants, not only because they are sung by the same character and are about the literal same topic, they're also quite similar in melody because the second part is a reprise. Either way, it's a good song (if not a little long). Also considering I love What Tim Wants, to me it gets considerably better when the melody transitions to the second part.

8- What Do You Say

Also a great song. That's it. A little slow but really cute and it has a well timed ending. All the group numbers have a special place in my heart because the cast is so fucking talented. Also this one is very funny too.

7- Our Doors Are Open

Also a little slow for my taste but I love that Corey had a chance to shine here. The more I listen to it the more I appreciate the song.

6- Black Friday

Jesus. There have been many different interpretations of this song, and I still like the overall "I'm going to die, fuck you all" vibe. And while it is about her near death experience and I relate to it for that I think everyone can relate to the hopeless feeling of having to give up before you even had the chance to try something. The song is sad as fuck.

5- Do You Want To Play?

At first I thought this one was boring but the harmonies... Besides the fact that the song deeply terrifies me, I have to say that the part where they suddenly start screaming/laughing (u know the part) is chilling and sounds amazing at the same time.

4- What If Tomorrow Comes

Overall this is a good finale and especially the ending gives me chills every time, but I feel like it repeats itself. Starkid finale songs tend to be very loud and dynamic, but in this case I feel like the seriousness of the show is matched better with a cautious song like this one.

3- Take Me Back

Also listen to this one on repeat. The actors' voices match well and this song has a strong emotional core and yes I have belted this when I was home alone.

2- Feast Or Famine

I mean the hunger games character of this one is just overwhelming. Honestly this song describes the whole show, and it's super fun to listen to.

1- What Tim Wants

I get this is a controversial opinion but this is 100% the best song. I feel like Dylan is great in this one and the relationship between Tim and Tom is delivered perfectly. Usually solos rank low on my lists by default because I like change within the songs and group harmonies and that stuff, which proves how great this song is even more. Love this one, no notes.

Tbh i usually end up blaming Endgame for making FAWS and Bucky feel hollow in that show but honestly, some of my problems with FAWS Bucky go all the way back to what should have been Cap 3 (and presumably aou but i dont remember anything about that stupid film)

I just feel like- i do like some of the characterization we get with Bucky in FAWS (and at least it's not like Black Widow where she's already dead) but it also feels maybe a biiiiiit too little, too late? Maybe that's a problem i have??

Like, i know we got glimpses of him in Cap 3, IW and Endgame but idk. Woulda sure been nice for the fucking Captain America movie to deal most heavily with Captain America's story, which was set up to be About Bucky

Looking back at First Avenger, Bucky was Steve's best friend and then motivating factor for getting directly involved in fighting (damsel in distress move). He was both a character and a plot device, in my opinion. The story is how Steve lost him, and it puts some players into place for the next marvel films, but it's fairly contained until Steve ends up in 2012.

and then again in Winter Soldier, Steve's fight is all about Bucky, but we don't get to learn too much about Bucky because he's still being actively brainwashed. He has a bit of characterization, but he's mostly a damsel. a very dangerous damsel, but still. The HYDRA plotline emerges and impacts the MCU going forward, while still offering the semi-contained narrative with Bucky the Winter Soldier. Steve lost Bucky in the first movie and Bucky recognizes him again by the end of WS but they're still held apart by circumstance. which... should probably be resolved in Captain America three, right? because Bucky's been key to the first two, right?

Again in Civil War, Steve is fighting for Bucky, sure, but coupled with the Civil War/Accords plotline... it amounts to him still not getting much characterization or actual time with Steve. Which is odd, given how cohesive the 3 Cap-specific movies would have been otherwise as a, like, trilogy with an emotional through-line. Hm.

As an aside: maybe i'm wrong because i haven't rewatched a lot of the later marvel films, but to add insult to injury, it feels like Civil War never ended up having such a huge impact on the MCU? Like. I guess retroactively it does in Black Widow, and yada yada Cap was on the run. but by Infinity War they have to work together again or some shit so theyre okay enough to get along. And with regard to the laws that came into order, it's not like Steve OR Tony has ever followed a rule in his life, and theyre both retired anyway. Post IW/Endgame the world ends up so Catastrophically fucked up by the blip that the accords aren't even a pressing thought anymore. So... It was another multi movie plotline that ended up being kinda whatever in the end, and it was never all that compelling in the first place because Steve having to choose between New Family and Old Family was hollow, he and Tony never had a chance to truly be friends.

SO, i just wished that they had've gone with a more contained, Cap 3 specific plotline that actually focused on Bucky as a character again, rather than him and "the avengers family" as Plot Devices, and let the Thanos fight being the One Big Thing that was hinted and built up this whole time?

like, i know marvel does actually have a Tall Order with telling both a satisfying contained/one off story while also setting up new future stuff. But, i think it's actually been the case that some of their worst work falls into "spends too much time setting up players for the future" especially when they don't manage the emotional or character based consistency anyway!!!!!!

Which, last aside here, is yet another issue with Falcon and Winter Soldier- Sam and Bucky did have real good moments, but there was too goddamn much going on!! There were like 3 or 4 villains/prominent characters reintroduced (Zemo, Sharon/powerbroker, John Walker Cap. possibly the flagsmashers if they come back. Arguably Valentina tho hers was a quick introduction) and i get it, they gotta put that worldbuilding somewhere, and this is the most Mainstream of their limited series so far so it'll get a lot of traction, but.... like maybe they coulda doubled the length of the series? and actually gave it time to breath?

Anyway, all this to say, Bucky in FAWS feels weird and possibly a little hollow not ONLY because he doesn't react to Steve abandoning him (which is still glaring), but also because he has barely been a character for like 4 movies by now. If he had have actually been front and centre in the narrative, and the plot of Cap 1&2 was actually resolved emotionally all the way back in Cap 3, maybe things would feel a bit different.

In conclusion, fuck civil war. and for good measure, fuck endgame steve. All my besties hate endgame steve

(ps. If Civil War didn't need to involve all of the Avengers and their grandmothers, it could also have served as better development for Nat and Sam given their prominence in the Cap plotlines, which may have also aided FAWS in the long run too. but yeah)

that's how long i've had to watch the guy i'm in love with be with another girl. two long years of seeing them kiss, hold hands, cuddle, go on dates and anniversaries. all because i was too scared to tell my best friend that i loved him.

two years ago

" yo, y/n ! y/n ! guess what just happened." my best friend since we were kids, jj, said as he ran up to me.

"what?"

"you remember that girl, shay, that i was telling you about? that kook that i met at the kegger last weekend with the long blonde hair, green eyes, slim waist, and fat as-"

"yes, yes. jj i remember." i said cutting him off from finishing his sentence.

"so, i just asked her out and guess what? she said yes!" he said with the biggest smile on his face.

"okay."

"okay? that's all i get? an okay? y/n, this is the hottest kook i’ve ever seen that we're talking about here."

"yeah and last week kate was the hottest kook and the week before that was penelope. this is nothing new j. it's just another pretty girl with big boobs and a nice ass that you'll mess around with for a few weeks maybe even days and then move onto the next girl."

"no y/n, this time is different. it feels different."

"mhm sure" i say not convinced

this is what jj does. he meets a cute kook girl or touron at one our parties, they hook up for a few days or weeks, and he moves onto to the next one. this was no different. however, in that moment, i didn't realize how serious he really was about her until it was too late.

few months after

jj and i were laying on john b’s couch watching movies like we always do every friday night. we've been doing this since we were little kids, usually the rest of the pogues would join us, but they’re all busy tonight. john b is with sarah, kie is working, and pope is helping out his dad. so that just leaves me and jj together.

"um, y/n?"

"hm?" i asked in response

"would you mind if i ended our movie night a little bit early?"

"why?"

"because shay just got off work early tonight and wants to hang out. she's been really busy lately, so we haven't gotten the chance to hang out as much. would you be okay if i left to go see her?”

"um, sure. i guess i can just rewatch friday the 13th again without you."

"really? you're the best! thanks." he said jumping up excitedly to put on his shoes and grab his hoodie, " i mean it's not like we haven't watched this a thousand times already, you'll be fine without me."

"i kinda wanted you here, but i guess she's more important" i mumbled under my breath

"huh?"

"n-nothing. uh, j can i ask you something before you go?"

"yeah sure, but it can't take too long shay is waiting for me."

"are you serious about her? like really serious?"

"yeah, i guess i am. i don't know i've never really felt this way about a girl before. she just makes me feel so happy and i always want to be around her and spend time with her. i usually just get bored with girls after a while and break up with them, but it's different with her. it's something about her i can't explain it." he said with admiration in his eyes.

that's when i knew it was too late. i could see the way his eyes lit up when i mentioned her and how he talked about her with such admiration. he was head over heels for this girl and who am i to step in and ruin it by telling him my feelings. he wouldn't reciprocate those feelings anyways she's the only girl he's felt like this about. i never had a chance against her. i will never be her.

after that day i didn’t see jj for three weeks. he cancelled every single one our plans because of her. “i cant go surfing today, shay wants to go get lunch” “can’t go fishing, shay needs me” “cant make it to the boneyard tonight, shay wants to have a movie night” he bailed on us, on me, all week because of her. the kook girl he just met a few months ago. 

finally, after countless begging and excuses jj came to hang out with us at john b’s house. we were all laying on the hammocks outside watching the sunset and for a minute it felt like everything was how it used to be even though i knew it wasn't. you could feel that everything was different especially between me and jj. he wasn't his usual flirty, touchy self with me and the tension in the air was thick. the rest of the pogues tried to act like everything was normal, but we all knew after today it would be another few weeks before we saw jj again. all he did was hang out with shay and he barely had any time for us anymore.

“so, jj since when did you start dating kooks?” john b snickered as jj punched his arm

“since when did you start dating at all?” pope replied

“i don’t know, man. it’s just different with her, i guess. i never thought i could be capable enough to have a relationship, but she changed that. she changed me.” 

kie looks at me with sympathy in her eyes. she was the only one who knew about my love for jj. i spent so many nights crying to her about my feelings for him and how i wish things could be different between us. it took a lot to get jj to open up to me, especially about his dad, and i always wanted to be the one he could go to for anything. i was the one who patched him up after a fight with rafe, i was the one who hugged him as he cried to me about his dad, i was the one who went along with his crazy ideas, i was one who did everything i could to get him to love me the way i love him. but i guess things don’t work out the way you want them to. i give kie and a nod and smile letting her know i’m okay. as long as jj is happy that’s all that matters to me. i would do anything to make him happy, even if it means i have to watch him fall in love with another girl.

that's how long the love of my life has been with his girlfriend. six long years of me trying to get over him and find someone else yet i could never get that boy with blonde hair and blue eyes out of my mind. he followed me everywhere i went even when i wasn't with him. he's everything i want in a guy yet i can't have him because he's not mine to have. he's someone else's and now i definitely can't do anything about it because they're getting married today.

today is their wedding and of course they invited me and the rest of the pogues. i debated even going and just letting kie give them my present with my pathetic excuse for why i wasn't there, but after talking to jj about the wedding the other day i couldn’t not go. "i could never have my wedding without you there, y/n. you're one of the most important people in my life." is what he told me. if i was strong i wouldn't care and still not go, but i'm not. all i had to do was look in his eyes when he told me that and i was puddy in his hands. there's no way i can't go and let him down like that. he means way too much to me to hurt him just to spare my own feelings. 

i walked into the venue looking around at the setup. of course the kook princess wanted a fairy-tale wedding. i sigh as i look at all the expensive decorations everywhere. i always imagined what my wedding with jj would be like. definitely wouldn’t look anything like this. even after years of all my hard work and schooling i still could never afford something like this. i always thought we’d have our ceremony by the beach since that’s where we first met when we were little kids and spent all our time together. it became our little safe space to get away from everyone and all our problems, and just be together. just me and jj. 

“gotta admit it looks beautiful.” pope says as kie hits his shoulder

“it’s okay, kie. he’s right, it is beautiful. more than i could've ever given him.”

“hey” kie says as she grabs my hand, “you sure you’re okay? because we can leave right now. trust me, i really don’t care to see the little princess wearing a dress that costs ten times the amount of my house.”

“it’s fine, kie. we have to be here for him. i’m just gonna go talk to jj quickly.”

“okay, i’ll save a seat for you.”

i went towards the back to find where jj is, so i could give him something before the ceremony started.

"knock knock." i say as i opened the door to jj’s room walking in to see him finishing getting ready.

"hey you. i almost thought you weren't gonna come."

"now why would i miss my best friend getting married to the girl of his dreams? i would never miss this no matter what"

"good because i know i would never be able to do this without you here."

"so.." i say as i sit down next to him, "how does it feel to finally be getting married?”

"it feels unreal. i never thought this day would come. and if it did, i honestly thought you would be the one standing at the end of the aisle"

"yeah, so did i" i say as i laugh weakly.

"i remember we had this whole thing planned out as kids. we were gonna get married on the beach, preferably the bahamas, but you know any beach would’ve worked for us. 

"and we were gonna have this huge reception and have our friends give sappy speeches talking about how we've been friends forever and despite the “no pogue on pogue macking” rule we still ended up together and got married." i added.

"and our honeymoon was gonna be in mykonos. we were gonna get a suite with a pool and relax all day and then turn up at night at the clubs there." he said as we both laughed.

"wow. we had a lot of plans when we were younger."

"we really did, but i guess none of them really worked out huh?"

"i guess not"

we sat in silence for a moment thoughts both roaming our minds about how we ended up here. best friends since we were little, spent all our time together, always acted like a couple, and yet here we are sitting in this room minutes before he gets married to a girl who isn't me, a kook nonetheless. it's now or never. do i let him know how i feel and finally have this weight lifted off my shoulders or just keep it to myself and let them be happy?

"uh, j? i- um, wrote this letter for you" i say as i take an envelope out of my purse, "it was the original speech that i wanted to tell you at the reception later but felt as though it wouldn't have been right to say, so i just wrote it for you to see. just, don't open it in front of shay, please."

"why can't you just tell me what's in the letter in your speech later?"

"because i would be a shit person if i say what's in that letter at your wedding reception in front of everyone."

"what's in the letter that's so bad?" he asked confusingly

"j-just read it when you're alone, okay?"

"no"

"no?"

"no. just tell me now what's in the letter."

"jj, i-i can't."

"yes you can. what's so bad that you can't tell me now?"

"i don't want to overstep my boundaries or ruin anything or make anything awkward, so just read it later when you're alone."

"no, y/n. tell me right now."

"jj, your wedding starts in a few minutes you need to finish getting ready. we don't have time for this."

"yes we do. i always have time for you."

"jj-"

"no. i'm not leaving this room until you tell me."

"j, don't be difficult."

"i'm not being difficult just read me the letter and this will all be done with"

i sighed, "oh my god fine. i'll read you the damn thing." i take a deep breath and begin to read the letter that might just change everything between us.

"dear jj, i'm not sure when exactly you'll be reading this, but i know when you do you'll be happily married to shay. so, congratulations best friend you're finally someone's husband. i honestly never thought this day would come; you were never one for relationships. always thought it was too much work to handle and you already had enough shit to deal with in your life. remember when we were little we made a promise that if neither of us were in a relationship by the time we were 30 we would get married. as silly as it was i always thought that would happen. that we would be the ones getting married and have our best friends write a speech for us. i'd always imagine kie writing mine and john b and pope would write yours, mainly pope though because we all know he’s way better with words than any of us ever were. but i never once in a million years would think i would be writing one for you and another girl. we've been through so many ups and downs and we still stuck together through it all. you're my best friend and i love you. words can't even describe how much i love you. jj, you've brought me so much happiness and never fail to put a smile on my face. even during my worst times you were always there to pick up the pieces and make me laugh. i never thought i would have someone in my life who means so much to me as much as you do. being around you immediately makes my day a hundred times better and i don't know what i would do without you in my life. my life would've probably been extremely boring and plain without you and your crazy adventures. your smile can make anyone's day better and you always make sure everyone else is happy even before yourself. and that's one of the many reasons why i'm in love with you. yes, i'm in love with you and have been for a while. this is more than a just as friends thing. i'm completely and utterly in love with you and that's never gonna change. and i know it took you a while to believe that someone could truly love and care for you, but i always have and always will. you so deserve so much than life has given you and i hope you know how amazing you really are. i’ve become such a better person because of you and you make me so incredibly happy. i'll never be able to repay you for everything you've done for me. i love you so much. i hope you're happy in your marriage and she treats you right, which i know she does. all i ever wanted was for you to be happy even if it wasn't with me. even though i just dropped this huge bomb on you, please don't let this affect our friendship. i will always be here for you no matter what. i love you, jj maybank."

there was complete silence. jj just sat there staring at the wall not saying a word.

"see this is exactly why i didn't want to tell you in person because i knew this would happen. i-"

"you love me?"

"yes, j i do."

"like actually love me?"

i sighed, "yes and i have for a while as i said in the letter"

"w-why didn't you tell me?"

"i don't know i was always so scared to and i thought you would never really find someone, so i had nothing to lose by not telling you. and then you started dating shay and i could tell you were really happy with her and by the time i realized you two were serious it was too late. i didn't want to step in and ruin anything or lose our friendship."

"you wouldn't have."

"what?"

"you wouldn't have ruined our friendship because i felt the same way. i still feel the same way." jj admitted

"you, what?"

"i love you y/n and as more than just friends. i have since freshmen year of high school when i first told you about my dad and you cleaned up all my cuts and held me in your arms all night. but i was just always too scared to say anything because i thought you were out of my league and i never really deserved you. the only reason i was with all those girls was to forget about you and get rid of my feelings for you, but they never did go away."

"i guess we're both stupid then. we always had these feelings for each other and just never said it."

"i guess so."

"so, what does this mean for us?"

"what do you mean?" jj asked

"i mean this obviously changes things, so what are we gonna do?"

"i don't see why things have to change. yeah we admitted we have these feelings, but that doesn't change anything."

"you're getting married, jj. in like twenty minutes there's gonna be another girl waiting at the end of that aisle for you to go there and give yourself completely to her. and i don't want to stand in the way of giving you and her that happiness you both deserve. me still being here is gonna change things because things are different now whether you want to believe it or not. these feelings are out there and they're still relevant. and i'm not gonna sit here and watch you two be happy and in love and be on the sidelines and feel like shit. i don't deserve that. i don't deserve to have my heart broken seeing you together knowing you have feelings for me and yet i can't do a damn thing about it. and it's not fair to her either to have another woman who you have feelings for sit there and get in the way of her happiness. i'm not gonna ruin this for her, jj. i won't. shay has been nothing but sweet to me and i'm not gonna do that to her. she doesn't deserve it and neither do i."

"so what do you want me to do then?"

"i want you to let me go."

"what? y/n, i love you. you can't tell me to do that"

"let me go, jj. as long as you sit here and tell me that you love me and have feelings for me, this will never end. and we will be going around in circles and i've been stepping on eggshells long enough for you and i'm done. you love her and she loves you, so be happy with her."

"but i love you too y/n and that's never gonna stop." he says with tears in his eyes.

"i know and i will always love you too, but i can't keep doing this. i can't watch you be with her and not be able to do anything. i can't be able to be alone with you knowing how you feel and not do anything to you. you don't know how badly i've just been wanting to kiss you after hearing you say those words to me. you don't know how bad i want this, but jj i can't do this" i say tears running down my face.

"i'll end it then. i'll cancel the wedding and we can be together."

"no. no, jj you can't do that. i'm not gonna ruin this. you've been with her for six years already, you've created this beautiful relationship and commitment to each other and i'm not just gonna ruin that. she's doesn't deserve that. you just need to let me go, jj. let me get over you because the more i'm around you the more the feelings grow. just let me find happiness within someone else.”

"so what? we're just gonna end our friendship? our years and years of friendship is over just like that? i don't want to lose you. if i cant have you in that way, even though i want to so badly, i still want you in my life as a friend."

"but i can't jj. i can't be around you. please, just let me go. let me get over you and find someone else. maybe one day if it's meant to be we'll find our way back to each other and maybe things can work out differently but for now just let me go." i say as my voice breaks

he sighed, "fine, i'll let you go, but only if you do one thing for me."

"what is it?"

"kiss me."

"w-what?"

"kiss me. i've been waiting years to tell you how i feel about you and finally be able to hold you and kiss you, so please just let me do it."

"jj, i don't know" i say hesitantly

"shay never has to know about this and once we kiss it's over. i'll let you go."

"if i kiss you, you'll let me go?"

"yes."

i sighed looking at jj. i actually got a good look of him right now in this moment. he looks so broken. dried tears streamed down his face, his eyes are puffy, and nose is red, but yet he still looks beautiful. no words can describe how jj looks. "cute" or "hot" never did this man justice. he was beautiful both inside and out and that's why i fell in love with him years ago. and as i started to lean it looking in his eyes all the memories we've made together came flashing through my mind all at once. this is really it. after this i'm actually leaving my best friend, who's the love of my life, to move on with my life.

moments later i felt his soft pink lips mold against mine. our lips moved in sync in such a way i have never felt with anyone else before. there was something about the way his lips moved against mine in such a passionate and loving way that i've never felt before. my stomach was immediately filled with butterflies and my mind went blank. all i could do was be in this moment with him. a few moments later it ended leaving both of us breathless. we stared at each other in awe not knowing a simple goodbye kiss would make us feel this way.

"wow. i've been waiting for this kiss for so long and i never knew it would feel like that." jj said

"neither did i.”

as much as i didn't want to, i knew what had to be done next. i stood up grabbing my bag and walked towards the door.

"so this is really it? you're just leaving now. after what we just felt in that kiss you're still gonna leave?" jj asked

"you know i have to."

"no, you don't have to. you want to, there's a difference. but it’s fine you’re just gonna leave just everyone else does, huh?”

don't turn back now. i know what he’s trying to do. he knows how the last thing i ever wanted to do was leave him like countless of other people in his life have done. but don’t let his words get to you. don't turn back now. the decision is already made. if i go back now i'll never leave and end up in the same cycle again.

i turn around one last time to look at my best friend, "i'm sorry. goodbye, jj."

that was the last time i saw jj.

after that i left the venue without saying anything to anyone. i got a ton of calls from kie, pope, and john b asking me where i was. i know they all eventually found out how i felt about him, which sometimes makes me wonder how he never knew, but then again i'm pretty sure they knew he had feelings for me too and i still never noticed. it's crazy how that happens. you could spend every moment of every day with someone and still be so oblivious to how they really feel about you. i guess i was just so caught up in my feelings for him i never noticed all the signs he showed of liking me back.

they always say what’s meant to be will be no matter how long it takes whether it's a day, a month, or a year. well i never really believed in that until now. years later after i walked out of that room, now stood face to face with the guy who was and still is my everything.

Hey love, so I'm rewatching the show I'm thinking about the characters that haven't been paired up yet lmfao and there are some really great possible combinations here, I'd love it if we get a wlw couple maybe Isobel and Rosa or Isobel and Maria or even rosa and Maria, all three ave very intriguing to me. Isobel and Rosa had some great chemistry in those flashback scenes even though technically it wasn't Isobel the actor chemistry is still there, Isobel and Maria have an interesting if underdeveloped dynamic and Maria and Isobel could serve some friends to lovers excellence we don't have that on the show. As for Kyle, I also see him with either Isobel or Maria tbh, they would both serve, I would also love it if he was bi/pan and he had a male love interest. This is one of those rare shows where almost all the characters could be paired up in interesting ways( although I didn't necessarily ship them Liz/Kyle Maria/Michael and Kyle/Alex had wonderful chemistry in different ways as well) I would also love it if we had an ot3, there have barely been a couple of decent ones in anything ever, like that would would so good, an actual polyamorous loving relationship. The possibilities are endless I just hope they're not afraid to go there because while we're making strides in representation 99% if they already have a queer relationship will not have another one and if they do go there fingers crossed they back it up with good writing, it would be such a waste if they didn't take advantage of the overflowing chemistry between everyone, when it comes to friendships too, I want to see more interactions between everyone, strangers things has an even bigger cast of main characters and fewer episodes and they manage to give some beautiful platonic relationships. It would work here too where we have people in pairs or threes working on something together for a few episodes and then switch it up and then everyone teams up for the last 2 or three. Lol sorry for the long essay I just see endless potential because of how great and diverse the cast is as well as the possibilities mystery and overarching plot, the show has been decent so far, handling some things far better than others but it could be so much better in my opinion.

Ngl, Isobel/Rosa worked for me when they were the same age (and I assumed there was some kind of real mutual interest), now that the dynamics have shifted, I kinda like them better as friends. I'm really not someone to condemn an age gap, I just think that Rosa has so much on her plate, and she still has so many experiences to make, if they'd both be 10 years older respectively (and Rosa had had a chance to grow up, find a job she likes, make some life experiences of her own etc) it would for much better for me. Anyway, Lily and Amber definitely have chemistry, so who knows. I'm here for allllllllll the wlw pairings! \0/

I'm a strictly Kylex BroTP person, so that's not a pairing I'd want to see explored romantically, however, I really digged Kyle and Max sleuthing together last season! That was surprisingly good, and they had great chemistry.

And Isobel and Kyle? HELL YEAH. Sadly their best scene is from that cursed episode I'll never in my life touch again, but I've always been a huge Kybel fan. Although I have to say that Kyliz is my OTP. I know, I know, they'll never be endgame, but I love them together. And while I'm DYING to see Isobel exploring her sapphic side, Belmanes has grown so near and dear to my heart, I'm not yet willing to let go of the idea of them ending up together. 🥺

Kyle and Maria could be interesting, no idea whether the show's going to pair off more main characters with each other tho. We'll see.

And while I absolutely don't mind OT3s, I'm not exactly yearning for one tbh. And honestly, after the absolute WORST way to force one on us last season, I'm kinda violently opposed to the idea of this show ever getting another shot at pairing three people together.

I'd rather they focus on writing decent storylines for the core 8, write an EXCEPTIONAL COSMIC love story for Malex, and otherwise put in the effort of telling good love stories for the other characters - especially when they are queer storylines.

I did it, I finally did it. I finished reading "All The Time in the World" series and I have some things to say.

1. I know I said I am not a fan of time travel fics, but yours made an exception. It was so different from the other stuff I read and therefore better. I lobed it so much

2. How ... fucking... DARE you. The audacity, to make me feel things. You really sent me on an emotional rollercoaster with this series.

3. I have never cried for a long period of time like I did the night (4AM mind you) I read Peggy's death scene. I sobbed my heart out chapters before the actual scene of Peggy dying. I cried for almost 4 nights straight wtf

Unfortunately because I did binge read most of the the series in 1 week (Both the first 2 parts and more than half of the 3rd one) I had to put the final book on hiatus until just a few days ago.

100/10 most definitely would recommend to those who haven't read it yet. You never cease to amaze me w your stories bae 😭 i cant wait for the new stuff coming this year.

Originally it was supposed to be one story, like I fully planned to tell TFA NTBU and TSS in like twenty chapters which is literally hysterical because it’s three books and like, pushing 300k words spanned almost an entire year of writing?? Clearly my gauge for how long a fic is going to be is WILDLY SKEWED

I’m glad you liked it. I understand avoiding time travel tropes, especially with in the MCU since most stories would fall into the fairly predictable “Tony goes to the 40s” box (it’s just such a perfect box!) but I’m glad you gave this one a chance!

I worked so hard to bring in the canon MCU parts of the story while making it still feel organic, because I really zeroed on on that theme from TFA where Tony would think “I know this part of the story” and all is readers would gasp WE KNOW IT TOO, and then I felt like it packed such a punch when it moved to NTBU and Tony DIDNT know any of that part of the story yet but we sure did and it was heart wrenching.

And *whew* Peggy’s scenes. She might be one of my favorite parts of the series. I don’t watch any of the Marvel TV shows so I missed out on a whole lot of “Agent Carter” development but when I set out to write TFA I decided I wanted to use it as a character study so I could get a better grip on some of the fandom faves that I generally relegate to background characters, and then to get a better feel for Steve. I felt like I’d written a lot of him but I hadn’t figured him out like I had Tony and Bucky.

Anyway, the character study into Steve I think helped my writing of him by anout 100% but studying Peggy was AMAZING. This series is directly responsible for Peggy having a bigger role in Tony’s life in the rest of my fics now. I loved everything about her and the more I watched and rewatched the Captain America movies the more I realized just how little importance they gave her in the grand scheme of things, especially in CACW where she passes. One of my main goals of the story was to say goodbye to Peggy in a way that felt.... valid?

Like in CACW we get the impression that after Peggys funeral Steve really just gave up caring about anything but saving the last piece of his old life (Bucky) and that’s why he turned his back on everyone.

And I hate that. It sucks. Here we go again using what should have been a strong woman characters death to influence some Man Pain and drive a man’s story further. It would have been equally impactful if not MORE to have a scene where steve sits with old Peggy and tells her about Bucky and she pats his hand and tells him “bring him home, Steve”. And then Steve goes off to Germany to rescue Bucky. Like, Peggy didn’t have to die in the movie, you could cut that scene out entirely and the movie wouldn’t have skipped a beat.

(Even though would have made the EG steve/Peggy scene even MORE OOC if that’s even possible)

I’m rambling sorry— the point is, the movies didn’t do Peggy justice and as I was writing the story I kept thinking “you can’t tell me Peggy Carter would have been THAT influential to Steve and then just stopped being part of his life post ice, and you can’t tell me Peggy would have been THAT influential for Shield and Howard Stark and not been a big part of Tony’s life.” And I set out to fix that.

Peggys last scene and her burial actually destroyed me to write. I cried for days over it but now when I re read it, I just love it. Not only do I feel like I did the character Justice in my own fic, but it actually made EG easier to deal with because in my head, they remained friends the entire time while Winteriron lived and lived in the cabin by the lake so 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

All this to say, I’m glad yoh liked it. Clearly it took actual pieces of my heart to create, and it’s something I’ll always be proud of

Supernatural season 2 review (part 2)

Irene and I have finished watching Supernatural season 2 (we're already on season 3), so here it comes my review on it. I like this season more than the first one: we already know this supernatural world and have learnt to love the brothers, and since the big bad guy isn't dead yet we want to see what happens next. The plot evolves from the first season, we understand many things we didn't before and it is all suddenly way more interesting (meanwhile I feel like the most interesting thing in the first season were the single episodes). Sam's psychics abilities have a purpose and we learn there's sort of a pattern involving other people, the same age as Sam, who have all the same destiny: to become warriors for an upcoming war. In this season we have the chance to see more of Azazel (the yellow-eyed demon), what he's capable of and what he has done to Sam (and the consequences of it, including how Dean has to deal with all of this, meanwhile being in a terrible position). At the end of the season, even if he's been defeated by John himself, we know Sam is not back to normal (and we also know the truth about Azazel is not totally revealed, since we now know Mary had already met the demon before the night she died).

Season 1 ends with the car accident, so the first thing we see in the first episode of the second season is the brothers and John in the hospital. Dean is almost dead and has no chance of surviving, but John makes a deal with Azazel and dies instead of Dean (sacrificing the colt too). I understand why John would do that (one of the not-many-things I understand about his behaviour), but I also think this is one of the many things he has done that leads to Dean suffering and blaming it all over himself. No wonder why this boy behaves the way he behaves: he has all of this emotional pain he carries with him since he was basically four years old. Of course Dean doesn't talk about his father's death and acts like it's not affecting him, although it does, a lot. Sam's reaction is different, but I think it was very appropriate: the thing is most upset about is the fact that he and his father had never actually gotten along very well and that they had a fight right before John's death. I also think that both brothers haven't had quite the opportunity to grief from their father's death (just be sad for his absence and think about their true feelings for him), because they were to focus on bigger events involving John's last moments with them. Another thing that keeps them occupied is the main problem in this season, Azazel and all that he causes.

There's a thing I forgot about and that, as I rewatched the season, surprised me: Dean already wants to quit hunting. The fact that he is even more fed up than Sam shows us that in reality, as much as he wanted to be like his father and behave like John told him to, he doesn't want to live the life he is supposed to live (and we can also see it in episode 02x20, in which Dean sees what his life could have been without the death of his mother and demonstrates lots of courage by choosing to return to his normal life anyway). Knowing both what Dean wants and all that things that happen later in the other seasons, this makes me very sad.

Since we're speaking of Dean, I was left a bit shocked by his lack of hesitance on killing the people with the Croatoan virus (02x09). I get that he wanted to stop the virus, but they remained people, and of course when Sam gets the virus he doesn't kill him, which is more than understandable, but it also means that he could've at least waited a bit more before killing the others.

Since I've seen all of the other seasons rewatching 02x13 has been pretty funny, especially because of Dean. He keeps telling he doesn't believe in the angels’ crap and, well, we all know he's gonna change his mind. I also like that Sam is still faithful after all he's been through and especially since he's in this position of supernatural-slightly-demonic powers.

Speaking of which, John leaves a message to Dean before dying: if he can't save Sam from his powers he has to kill him instead of letting him become evil. This leads Dean to have two big thoughts hunting him, his supposed duty to kill his brother and his guilt for his father's death. I always feel like all the responsibilities grow on him and I would love it if he could have a way to release these feelings in some ways, but of course he never does it properly. It turns out Sam agrees with his father and tells Dean to kill him, but Dean has no intention of doing it (reasonably). In this season we can see how much Sam is scared of his psychic abilities, almost as if he's scared of turning in a monster (and we can see it clearly in what I think is the saddest episode of the season, 02x17, in which Sam has to kill the girl who turned out to be a werewolf).

I like how the writers have developed the jail theme, having episodes 02x07, 02x12, 02x19, in which the brothers have to face justice for what they've apparently done. The thing I like the most about these episodes is the fact that we know the Winchester have been in trouble with the law for good reasons, it is frustrating (but in a good way) to see the other people mistaking them for the bad guys (till a point they're even called monsters) and we can't even be mad at the cops, because they don't know the truth.

In this season there are introduced some new characters. First of all, I have to mention the trickster, not just because he provides the most senseless episode of the season (02x15, which I love), but also because I know his time on Supernatural is not over yet, fortunately. We also meet Ellen and Jo Harvelle, a mother and her daughter who own and manage the Roadhouse, a bar attended mostly by hunters, in which we find another character, Ash. I like all three of them for different reasons. Ash, the one with less screen time, is not as important as the other two, but he gives some funny moments and he's a smart guy (and I like the scene where Dean compliments his hairstyle). Ellen is a sweet and strong woman hurt by the death of her husband and a caring mother who doesn't want her daughter to have the same faith as her father. Jo, my favourite, is a passionate young girl who wants to follow her father's footprints and become a hunter. I honestly like her character a lot and the dynamic she has with dean in season two (end especially how they don't make out the second Dean enter the bar), they care about each other (Jo probably more than Dean does for now) and I love the fact that he has a girl in his life he doesn't just want to fuck (or viceversa), but who he can also kinda rely on. The only thing I don’t really get is the way she treats him after she finds out her father was with John when he died during a hunt (and that John was probably a part of what caused his death). I understand that she probably thinks (like her mother) that Dean would do the same thing with her, but it’s not like he has already done it, and he actually doesn’t know anything about what happened to her father.

There is also another character who's introduced in the first seasons but who has much more screen time in this one: Bobby Singer. He's one of my favourite characters on Supernatural ever and, I mean, who doesn't think it the same way? He's a loving, but also grumpy, old man who can perfectly sostituite John in his father role, indeed he's much better than him. He doesn't treat Sam and Dean as soldiers, but as his children first, and he cares about what troubles them and what inner thoughts they're facing. And that leads us at the end of the season, when Dean has already made the deal with a demon to bring his brother back to life (a thing Dean has condemned before, especially because his father did the same for him, which demonstrated a bit of hypocrisy, even if it's comprehensible). Bobby is mad at him and for good reasons: he understands Dean wanting Sam back and doesn't blame him for it, but what worries Bobby the most is the little (almost non-existent) care Dean reserves for himself. His self esteem (which is talked about more in the third season) seems so low he doesn't even care if he ends up in hell (and that he will in about a year). All he's been good at is being a good soldier and keeping his brother safe, protecting him, so when he faces the fact he hasn't saved Sam he can't live without bringing him back to life, even if that means sacrificing himself in the most terrible way. Sam now has to live with the weight of his brother's death and trip to hell (beside worrying about the upcoming war with the demons who escaped hell), but these are the main themes of season 3.

"Alright so the proton and electron collide and then make..."

Mr. Harrington turned away from the smartboard and looked out into the sea of students in front of him. No one moved a muscle. "Anybody? A proton and an electron combine and maaaaake???" The students stayed silent, staring back at him with boredom dulling their eyes. He dropped his hands. "Come on, communication is needed, people! I know someone knows the answer!" He looked around, almost as desperate as the students for something.. anything new to happen. "Parker?," he pointed with chaotic hope in his eyes. "You know the answer right?!"

Peter felt his best friend, Ned, nudge his arm and immediately he jolted awake. "Huh? Um- HERE!," he blurted out, raising his hand.

Ned slapped his forehead. Chuckles were heard. Somewhere a student coughed.

Mr. Harrington rolled his eyes with a sigh. "Ugh, you know what? Free period, guys. No one's head's in the game today anyway."

"Whoop! Whoop!," Brad yelled though it was covered with a wide yawn.

And just like that the class began to wake up. Everyone moved their chairs, switched seats, until the entire class turned into a social frenzy."

So, did you watch the new Star Wars yet?," Ned asked, getting Peter to fully wake up.

The teenage superhero smoothed out his hair. "Nah, not yet. I haven't had much time."

At that, Ned completely freaked. "What?! Dude, you have to! You gotta hurry up and watch it so we can talk about it together!" He wildly began to rummage in his backpack.

"What're you doing?," Peter asked.

"Getting my planner because we're going to watch this together," Ned playfully snapped. "Now, when are you free?" He held his pen in his hand, expectantly.

Peter chuckled. "I-I don't know, man. Anything could happen at any time. I have to be ready." He cracked looked at Ned's disappointed face. Maybe he should relax a little. "...okay, anyday around 5. That's usually an inactive time for criminals. What happens in it, anyway?"

Ned's jaw dropped. "You seriously think I'm gonna tell you?! No spoilers, Pete," he said, pointing his finger in his friend's face.

Then he leaned in close. "But there is one thing I need to tell you for when you watch it."

Peter leaned in closer. "Yeah?"

"You know how Rey was kept having flashbacks about her family being taken?"

"Mhm." Peter nodded, eyes wide.

"Just, remember that part, okay?," Ned said. "It's real important, man. In fact, to get the full experience, you need to rewatch EVERYTHING." Ned smirked, "preferably in order."

Peter laughed. "I watched it out of order one time, Ned! How long are you gonna hold that against me?"

Their attentions were pulled to the front of the class when Mr. Harrington said, "Alright class, listen up!"

The class slowly became silent.

Mr. Harrington clapped his hands together. "Okay, so it appears we have a new student joining us today!" He stepped aside to reveal a young girl.

"Oooh, wow she's hot," Ned whispered from beside Peter.

"Shhh, Ned!," Peter whisper-shouted back.

"I'm actually not new," she spoke with a wave towards the class. "Just got my schedule tweaked a bit is all."

"Oh, well then you guys have already seen her around."

Flash threw his head up, looking the girl up and down. "Yeah, I've definitely seen you around."

She quickly shot him a glare. "Don't try it," she warned coldly, earning a few ooohs from the class.

Next, she was allowed to pick her seat.

Peter watched her as she walked further down the rows of desks. There was only one word that came to mind. Wow. Just from the way she held herself, he could see that she was special. And she knew it.

She had the type of confidence that he hadn't gotten until after becoming Spiderman.

It was as if even if she knew the apocalypse was imminent, she wouldn't move from her spot.

And Peter never realized it until seeing her now. A simple truth.

Confidence was attractive.

And on top of that she was attractive.

Peter blinked repeatedly, snapping out of his trance, after realizing that Ned was frantically waving a hand in his face.

"Peter? Hey. Yo! You okay?!"

"Huh? Ah- what?"

"In front of you!"

The girl was right in front of him.

"I said can I sit here?," she said, pointing at the chair beside him. No one sat there. It was perfect. Of course she could sit there.

Peter looked back at her, suddenly frozen. "Y-you wa-nt to-o, y-ye."

She furrowed her eyebrows. "I'm gonna take that as a yes..."

Ned nodded repeatedly with a wide smile, pulling the chair back for her to sit in. "That was TOTALLY a yes!"

She plopped into her seat with a snicker. She didn't take out any supplies because the class was nearly done. "So, who're you guys?"

Peter stared at her, his mouth still open. "M-my nam-me's Pee-!"

"Pee?"She stared back. "Like, as in... urinating?"

Ned rolled his eyes with an amused chuckle before trying to save his friend from embarrassing himself. "His name's-"

"Ter!" Peter's face was beet red.

The girl beside him giggled. "Oh, Peter. Of course." She playfully rolled her eyes. "Well Peter, I look forward to seeing you later. That is, if you can say more than a few words to me at a time." She smirked with a hum.

At that, the bell rang. The class proceeded to leave.

The girl grabbed her bag and stood up when she felt a hand grab hers. "Wait!," Peter blurted out. "When will we see you again?!"

The girl raised her eyebrows, eyeing his hand desperately grabbing hers. "Umm," she laughed out. "Maybe if my new class schedule aligns with yours then I'll see you..." She looked around. "Uhh, can you kind of-"

Peter looked down at their hands as he realized what he had done. "OH- uh... SORRY!"

She shook her head, laughing a bit. "No problem," she said before walking away.

"And I'm Ned!," Ned yelled after her.

Suddenly realizing everything he had done in the past 10 mintues, Peter dropped his head in his hands. "Oh mannn..."

Ned, who had been trying to keep a straight face the entire time, bursts into laughter. "Oh my God, duuude! You got it bad." He clapped his hands together. "I gotta tell MJ at lunch! Hahahaaa!"

"Wait wait wait. You don't even know her name?" MJ snickered, shaking her head at the two boys across from her.

"S-she didn't really have the chance to-"

MJ cut him off. "But you said she introduced herself to the class." She furrowed her eyebrows. "Wait-" she pointed her finger accusingly-" you two were talking weren't you?"

Peter waved his hand dismissively. "What? Hold on... Ned, we missed her name when you were screaming to me that she was hot!"

Ned paused, chicken wing halfway in his mouth. "I did? Huh, I guess I did."

MJ slapped her hand to her forehead. "I swear, you two idiots." She turned to the chubbier friend. "First, you can't shut up enough to hear the girl even say her name." Then to the thinner. "And then you can't say two words to her without getting tongue-tied or blushing like an idiot- why do I even bother. All this lovey-dovey crap does is aggravate me..'

Ned smirked, looking up. "Because you wuvvv usss," he said, making kissing noises.

"Oh go die in a hole-"

"*Attention teachers and students. Attention teachers and students. Will Jillian Jameson please come to the office? I repeat. Jillian Jameson, please come to the office.*"

The intercom turned off and Ned raised an eyebrow. "Jillian Jameson? Whose that?"

MJ shook her head nonchalantly. "The only Jameson I know is the one that hates you," she said, referring to the show host that made it his life's goal to give Spiderman a bad rep.

Peter rolled his eyes. "Oh, don't remind me."

He walked to the trash cans on the side of the cafeteria to throw away his lunch tray.

When he got there, he couldn't help but notice commotion from outside of one of the cafeteria windows. What he saw made his jaw and his plate drop to the floor.

It was the girl from earlier, the one who's confident flair had Peter head over heels.

The one who's hand he desperately grabbed, subconsciously to keep her closer.

The one that even though Peter had only just met her, he knew she'd probably be the end of him.

The one who was at that exact moment, running into a big cheerful hug with none other than J. Jonah Jameson. The man that viciously hated Spiderman's guts.

"Uncle John! How are you?"

Peter fervently ran back to the table. He buried his head in his hands for what felt like the twentieth time that day.

"Pete, what's wrong? What happened?," Ned asked.

"Yeah dude. You look like you saw a life-ending event in all of 20 seconds," MJ morbidly chuckled.

But he had.

"Guys," Peter, lifting his head, began to speak. "She's a Jameson."

MJ spoke up. "Well, c'mon there are tons of people with the same last na-"

"No MJ." Peter's eyes were wide open. "She's a Jameson Jameson..."
