Characters: Dom!Bangchan x female reader. | All of Skz |
Genre: College!AU | Smut, smut and more smut.
Summary: Chan has had his eye on the “femme fatale” of their group, for a while now. When you all get invited to a party, he takes this as his shot to get closer to you, without making it obvious.
Warnings: 18+ | Smut | Alcohol | Weed | Swearing |
—————————————————————————————
“You’re way out of her league anyway.” Minho say says, wrapping his arm around Chans shoulders with a laugh. “No he’s not! Shut the fuck up. He just isn’t interested. Asshole.” I laugh.
Minho has been trying to hook Chan up with this girl in our class all night. Chan has no interest in this girl, but Minho has taken it upon himself to invite her over with us. She stood around by Minho most of the time. I think she got the hint that Chan wasn’t feeling her, when she tried to dance with him and he lightly pushed her away.
We’ve all had plenty to drink, not understanding anything coming from our mouths anymore. Being tipsy quickly turned in to us being drunk.
“He’s not interested because he’s in love with you.” Minho yells over the music. I look at Chan, he looks down at the floor with a light blush tinted on his cheeks. “Go away!” I yell, pushing Minho away with a laugh. Minho walks away, and things become quiet between Chan and I. I get a text from one of my friends, who are outside smoking. They ask if I want to come out with them. I get closer to Chan, to talk into his ear. Considering he wouldn’t be able to hear me from the distance I was at, with how loud the music is. “Hey, do you want to come outside with me?” I ask. He rests his hand on my hip as I ask in his ear. I pull back to find an answer, he nods his head with a smile.
I grab his hand and drag him through the crowd of people, finding the back door and stepping out on to the balcony. The smell of smoke instantly hits my face. My friend walks up to Chan and I, embracing me into a hug. She pulls away and eyes Chan up and down. “Who’s this fine man?” She asks with a smirk. I laugh at her reaction to him, turning around and pulling him foreword by his sweater pocket to introduce himself. “I’m Chan.” He says, with that award winning smile. She stares at him for a few seconds longer.
“Are you fucking my best friend?” She says out of no where. I playfully smack her arm and give her a look of warning. “What? I’m just asking!” She says in a high pitch tone with a smirk. “Umm.. n-no I’m not… fucking her.” Chan answers her, but he’s looking into my eyes as he says it. My friend passes me a joint and a lighter. “Here, you two need to relax. I can taste the sexual tension between you guys. It’s sickening.” She says with a laugh before walking away.
“I am so sorry about her, she just has a mouth that cannot be tamed, I’m sor-” he cuts me off by taking the joint out of my hand. “It’s okay, no worries.” He says, placing the blunt between his lips and lighting the end. Taking a long drag before passing it to me. I do the same. I pass it back to him and he takes it, moving closer to me. His face centimeters from mine. “Besides, even if I was fucking you… I wouldn’t walk around telling everyone.” He whispers, sending chills up my spine. He takes another hit, blowing the smoke out directly into my face. I take a deep breath in as it flows past me. “Do you want to fuck me Chan?” I ask, in the most innocent way that I can. I take the blunt from him and take another long drag, exhaling it to the side. “I’ve wanted to fuck you since the first time I laid eyes on you.” He admits.
I drop the blunt and grab his face, slamming my lips into his. The kiss was aggressive, our tongues slapping against each others and our head rock back and forth, trying to explore each others mouths as much as possible. His hands cup my ass, mine pull his hair. Heavy breathing, moans and groans are all you can hear from the both of us. Like two lost souls have just found their soulmates.
“Mmm.. take me to a room Chan.” I say in between kissing. “You don’t have to tell me twice. He pulls away and grabs my hand, pulling me into the house through the crowd of people. He drags me down a hallway, finding a room and pulling me in. He shuts the door and turns the lock, then turns around and smashes his lips into mine.
I begin to back up, until the back of my knees hit the bed. I scoot across the bed, laying down. Chan climbs on top of me, quickly undoing his belt. “Give me your hands.” He demands. I give him a questingly look, holding my hands out for him. He moves my hands closer together and starts to wrap his belt around my wrists, finishing up by giving it a tight pull. “Try to get out baby.” He whispers. I pull at the restraint, trying my best to free my hands, to which I fail. “Perfect.” He says. He stands up, and strips himself of his clothes. He then pulls my pants down, leaving me in nothing but my white tshirt and black thong. “Mmm… you dressed up for me.” He says, twirling his finger around the string of my thong. Letting it go with a snap against my hip. “All for you Chan.” I whisper. I suddenly feel a sting on my thigh, as he lands a harsh smack on it. He slips out of his boxers before crawling back on top of me. He takes my restrained hands and places them over my head, holding them down with his hand. “From this point foreword…” he starts to say, as he drags his other hand up my body and under my shirt, pulling it up. “You don’t call me Chan.” He continues. He pulls my bra down, my tits falling out of the top on full display for him. He grasps one in his free hand and begins to squeeze my sensitive bud between his fingers. “You call me daddy.” He finishes. Giving my nipple a tight squeeze. A loud moan escapes my lips as he does so.
He eagerly lines himself up with my entrance, pulling the string of my thong to the side, out of his way. Before slamming himself into me. His hard cock slamming into my walls, my head flys back and my eyes roll. “I’ve.. waited.. for this.. for a very… long time.” He says with every deep and hard thrust. Cries and streams of moans are the only thing I can bring myself to say.
“Are you close baby?” He asks. I’m too fucked out to answer. A light slap is placed on my cheek. “Answer me when I talk to you.” He growls, fucking into me harder. “Yes daddy, I’m going to cum.” I moan out, louder than expected. “Good girl baby, cum all over daddy’s cock.” He groans.
My stomach grows tighter the more he talks. I can feel his thrusts growing sloppy, telling me he’s just as close as I am. He brings his free hand up to my mouth. “Open.” He says. I open and take his thumb into my mouth, licking and sucking as if my life depended on it. The look on his face sends me over board. My legs wrap around his waist, my head falls back and my eyes roll into my head, as I feel myself come undone around his cock.
“Mmm. That’s it baby, that’s it.” He groans as he hits his high. Covering the inside of me with his seed. He lays there for a second before pulling out and collapsing on the bed next to me.
“Why did this take so long to happen?” I ask with a smile. “Because I was too big of a pussy to make it happen.” He says with a chuckle. We lay in silence for a few minutes. Just taking in each others features. “Round two?” I ask with a smirk. “For your sexy ass? As many rounds as you want.” He smiles, before climbing on top of me again.

Ooooh Shinee world is a mess today and for once it's not taemints fault 🥲
An article about fans asking for a Taemin would tour and "shawols" in the quotes going "no shinee" "shinee first" "wait until Jinki comes back so shinee can have a world first"
Like, I too would love a Shinee world tour, I want all of them both solo and as a group to go everywhere(in particular where I am but I won't hold my breath) but that wasn't what it was about. It was fans of Taemin's solo music asking for a tour.
It baffles me cause you never see this kind of thing with the other members. No ot5 shawol will ever expect another member to put their work on hold but, when it comes to Taemin it's like some people can't stand to see him spread his wings.
People never expect Key to put his variety work second, or for Minho to not take acting job, shawols have actively gotten mad if they think Minho had to turn down acting stuff due to his schedule. All Taemin does is music. That is his thing but some fans just cannot seem to respect his career. And all the baby talking in the quotes "we love our cutsey wootsy little taeminnie *but*..."
It's getting really irritating. I used to think some of what taemints say is exaggerated and I still believe that a bit. People were getting angry that the Shinee account didn't post Taemin's hanteo artist of the year nomination and only posted Shinee's, but it makes sense to me. They don't want to split votes and a win for Shinee is a win for all of them. But at the same time some of the disrespect I've seen towards him from supposedly ot5 shawols has been eye-opening.
I dunno, this fandom has been a mess lately and it's only the 4th. 2024 is off the quite the start.
Lol, I sort of find it funny when it's not Taemin fans being the mess-makers. Like they are the worst-behaved, though I would say each solo fandom has their unique flavor. But, what you're highlighting is the biggest open secret in shawol-dom.
Let's have sexy photos in this post for no reason.
Tumblr media
Like, shawols are for the most part chill. I've been around these parts for a long time, and a bad day in shinee world is miles and miles better than a bad day in BTS fandom and similar. There isn't violent language or a huge level of harassment. I just want to acknowledge that because the complaints I'll make next are from the privileged shinee world perspective where there is a higher behavior standard. That is the case, even when Taemin fans are being stupid. Like, not once did I see the Golden Disc Awards violently harassed.
So, the open secret: it's all yay Taemin until he gets too much attention. And you noticed it's still very much "our baby taemin" even tho man's been out there trying to fuck the stage for a decade, lol. I see these as two sides of the same coin. They want him in his place as perpetual baby to uwu over, and daring solo work is fine as long as it doesn't outshine everything.
I think with Key it's easier for people to compartmentalise because he's super super successful outside of SHINee when it comes to TV and sponsorships (istg he IS Olive Young, lol; his face was all over Seoul), but those things don't directly compete with SHINee's work. These are complementary endeavours. Key's solo work is now having its career high since Bad Love, and it's only growing, so this condescending solo situation may repeat itself. But, Key's also not the group's little baby. I can't see him being treated the same. The fandom's most egregious behavior towards him has always been rooted in stereotypes. I mean, look how quickly and comfortably people slotted him into this squabbling "marriage" dynamic with Minho. Their arguing is funny, despite how played up for the camera it can be, but I see a lot of "iykyk" weird posts about him and Minho. Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked.
Tumblr media
There is always going to be an element of competition when it comes to solo work. Onew's Circle just got named Billboard's #1 kpop album of 2023. Guilty didn't even make their best of list. Now, I think Guilty was overlooked but Onew deserved #1. It's an extraordinary album. Minho is cultivating this very sexy and mature solo repertoire. This competition will grow, but I think Taemin will always be the target of condescension, minimizing and infantilizing.
He's the perpetual baby who will be put in the obedient baby box. And those fans will be incised when/if Taemin gets to do something they find meaningful before SHINee, even if it's a clear matter of logistics. There is a definite attitude present, and you might notice there is a certain superiority fans have over his solo work. I've been in situations where people have quite literally said they think X member's solo concerts are better than Taemin's with their whole chests. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when it comes to him, people are wayyyyy to comfortable putting him down.
Anyway, it will always be a bigger "but not him" with Taemin because he was given solo first and has built this legacy of work and has a lot of influence within the industry. Stolid group fans take pride in that when it suits them, but want him to be sidelined when it interferes with their desires.

Hi 👋🏻 can I request a scenario where skz changbin has a crush on a new rookie groups leader and lead rapper but is too shy to talk to him so his members tease him,
But at a award show he comes up to him and compliments stray kids performance 🙏🏻 and they flirt a little with each other and end up exchanging numbers
(Can you make them the same age btw)
Prompt: First meeting and mutual crushing
Word Count: 906 words
Pairing: Seo Changbin x Male!Reader
Group: Stray Kids
Genre: Fluff
A/N: Sorry this took a lifetime I wrote half before exams and finished the rest today because I got my results and they weren’t so bad so I was finally motivated to study💖
Tumblr media
“Who’s that?” Changbin jumped and spun around to find Jeongin and Seungmin leaning over his shoulder, he scowled at them and moved away.
“No one, leave me alone.” Changbin took a step back when Seungmin tried to grab his phone and smiled in victory lifting his phone into the air, his eyes widened when he felt the phone being pulled out of his fingers.
He spun around to find Hyunjin poking his tongue out at him giving the phone to Minho.
“I know him, he’s the leader of a new group under Cube, really good rapper and dancer.” Minho said passing the phone back to Hyunjin, “I can’t remember his name though.”
Changbin watches as Jeongin and Seungmin move to watch the fancam with Hyunjin all of them watching impressed as the man on screen rapped.
“his name’s y/n l/n.” Changbin said snatching his phone out of Hyunjin’s hands ignoring the cries of protest that left the others lips.
Changbin switched off his phone slipping it into his pocket and turning around to walk away from the others.
“Do you have a crush on him?” Jeongin’s comment made Changbin stop in his tracks, his cheeks flaring red.
“No, I just came across his fancam and was impressed, we have to know who our rivals are anyways.” Minho snorted shaking his head at Changbin and the other three laughed ignoring the glare Changbin was leveling them with.
“Sure, Changbin, just a rival.” Seungmin said with a grin.
Changbin felt his face grow hot, he spun around and stomped away trying his best to ignore the heat in his ears and the amused laughter behind him.
-----------------------------------------------------
Changbin heard his back crack slightly when he moved to twist in his chair. Hyunjin groaned next to him rolling his shoulders back in exhaustion. They had been sitting there for about 4 hours now watching performances and awards, they had performed first and now they were just sitting and waiting.
“That’s the guy you have a crush on!” Changbin jolted up in his seat and turned to glare at Hyunjin.
“Can you not?” Changbin asked exasperated by the grin on Hyunjin’s face.
“I mean, he is hot, nothing wrong with thinking someone is hot.” Hyunjin replied smile growing wider at the blush on  Changbin’s face.
“stop being a nuisance and pay attention.” Changbin grumbled turning away from Hyunjin.
“’course, gotta make sure this guy is worth my hyung having a crush on.” Hyunjin’s laughed lightly.
His laughter was cut off by an elbow to the stomach and a sharp glare from Changbin.
“Quiet down.” Chan’s hand on Hyunjin’s shoulder put an end to their conversation.
-------------------
“You know, you were really good out there, got a lot of stamina and stability not to mention the dance quality of course.”  Changbin spun around wide eyed to find himself face to face with y/n l/n.
“what...?” Changbin asked with a choked voice.
y/n’s light laughter sent blood rushing into Changbin’s cheeks and Hyunjin and Seungmin’s barely repressed laughter behind him was not helping him form any words.
“Sorry, that was a little out of the blue, I am y/n.” The boy was extending his hand to Changbin with the same charming smile Changbin had watched him put on while he was performing.
It took Seungmin pushing him forward slightly for changbin to stop staring at y/n’s face and move forward to shake his hand, “Changbin, it’s nice to meet you.”
“Likewise, I wanted to tell you how good you were up there, you sounded amazing.” Changbin looked away when the dazzling smile was aimed at him again.
“Thank you, I thought that you,” Changbin had to pause and swallow to be able to continue speaking, “you were really good as well, I really liked your performance and your outfit is amazing.” Changbin stopped talking blush still high on his cheeks and throat dry.
“Thank you.” y/n laughed lightly a small blush rising to his cheeks.
For some reason seeing the bashful look on y/n’s face had encouraged Changbin a little. He moved forward a little letting his hand rest on the older man’s shoulder.
“We should see each other whenever we have time, I’d love to get to know you.” Changbin could see the wide eyed look on the his group mates faces but chose to ignore them.
y/n eyed him carefully his smile softening from the one he put on stage to a more genuine smile.
y/n nodded to Changbin, “That sounds great, can I have your number?”
Changbin could feel his smile growing as he typed his number into the others phone and then watched as y/n sent him a string of emojis.
Changbin felt his phone buzz in his hand and looked down to see the message. He smiled up at y/n who was still watching him with careful eyes.
“I’ll talk to you later then.” y/n  smiled at him before turning away to join a few of his own group members who had been waiting for him a distance off.
He turned flashing one last smile to Changbin before he disappeared into the crowd.
Changbin felt his smile fading and the lush returning to his cheeks when he heard Hyunjin and Seungmin laughing behind him again.
“Definitely not a crush, you totally didn’t just ask him out on a date.” Changbin leveled them with a glare but the effect was ruined but the small smile on his face.

They try to teach you how to dance
Masterlist
Some are crack some are fluff.
...
Bang Chan
Tumblr media
° You were very clumsy, but still determined to look just as amazing as Chan did during the last performance they did on Kingdom. Specifically at the beginning when he is held upside down and made his way to the floor smoothly.
° You kept falling flat on your stomach each time Chan tried to lower you down, you'd get scared at the feeling of no control and end up kicking Chan which led to him losing grip on you. He'd get worried after your third fall, and somewhat beg you to stop.
° You were determined to look as badass as he did, and even convinced Felix to help you out since Chan was too scared of hurting you. Your boyfriend watched as you and Felix both managed to fall to the floor while creating a hole in the practice room wall.
"I think I'll take a break for now."
"I'm sure you'll get it love, we'll just get some safety mats next time."
Lee Know
Tumblr media
° Minho is very sweet towards you, he'll still tease you but over all everyone can tell how much of an effect you put on him. Being the main dancer though, it was intimidating dancing next to your very talented boyfriend. And he notices your stiffness.
° That is why he was showing you the Miroh dance step by step, insisting that he'll teach you. Minho didn't want you to become awkward around him at any point, and so when he saw you begin to stiffen whenever you danced. He stepped in immediately.
° You thought it would be sweaty and frustrating, but it ended up being very fun and sweet. Whenever you got a move right he'd reward you with a kiss, and he'd be close behind you throughout it all. Guiding your movements with his hands as he reassured you in a soft voice.
"Good work bun bun. Do you need a break?"
"Can I still get more kisses on break?"
Changbin
Tumblr media
° You were an upcoming model in Korea, constantly praised for your look but some critiquing you after a viral video of you. The video was of you at an award show dancing, you looked like a dying chicken when you attempted to dance and everyone knew it.
° You wanted to be taken more seriously, and decided to ask your boyfriend to teach you Get Cool. Changbin knew why you asked him to do this, and didn't hesitate since he's seen companies decline you after the video went viral all over social media.
° You were still slightly wobbly and stiff, but you were able to get the basics down. Once you were confident enough, you went live on Instagram to show your hard work. Changbin reading the comments out loud from behind the camera.
"Wow the chicken has turned into a Phoenix."
"*Laughs* stop, I'm gonna lose my rhythm."
Hyunjin
Tumblr media
° You were out partying with Hyunjin, Jisung and Jisung's Girlfriend. The spotlight seemed to focus on you as your tipsy induced brain convinced you to dance your heart out. The crowd around you beginning to cheer you on.
° Hyunjin recorded you as you began to recreate double knot, missing a few steps but still looking amazing nonetheless. He was enjoying the show you were putting on, until a random man tried to dance up behind you. Attempting to grind against you.
° Without a second thought, he pulled you out from the spotlight and tucked you infront of him. Shielding you away from anyone interested, it was getting late anyways and he would've pulled you away a couple minutes later if it weren't for the man.
"Did I do good Jinnie? ~"
"You are always fantastic angel."
Han
Tumblr media
° You were rehearsing your stage before the main event, the weather was drizzling which led to a slippery stage. You thought it wouldn't effect you much, that is until you hit the dance break. Where shaking your hips turned into falling on them.
° Jisung felt bad he truly did, but your frustrated sighs and curses always amused him. Especially when you were wearing a mic where everyone could hear you, he'd laugh but always help you back onto the stage nonetheless.
° Jisung went through the steps with you. Making sure the rain wasn't the only problem, afterwards you soon realized you were taking to many large steps which led to the slipping. You were thankful he helped you go through the steps, even if you still fell.
"Why are you laughing ~"
"Because everyone can hear you swearing."
Felix
Tumblr media
° You wanted to learn back door and surprise your boyfriend with your new talent, the only problem was... You couldn't get the steps right. This frustrated you immensely, wanting to impress Felix just as much as he always impresses you with his talent.
° Felix got you some cinnamon rolls from your favorite bakery, he walked by the store and decided why not. That's when he noticed you looking sulky on your couch, he sat next to you gently. Waving the scent of your favorite treat near your face.
° Felix asked what was wrong, and tried his absolute hardest not to show off the brightest grin when you admitted to wanting to impress him. You always impressed him and he found it adorable how determined you were to learn the dance.
"C'mere lovely, I'm going to show you the dance."
"Can I finish my cinnamon roll first Lixie?"
Seungmin
Tumblr media
° You had a crazy side to you, a side only few got to see and this people who saw it were only the ones closest to you. Seungmin had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful side of you, watching you make a fool out of yourself for his entertainment alone.
° Seungmin came home from a hard day of rehearsal, JYP critiquing the group rather harshly even though he couldn't do half the stuff they could (all tea all shade☕) he felt his spirit crack a bit from the hurtful words. Wanting nothing more than your company.
° You found out the song was All In, the one JYP had somewhat of a say on what happens in the song. You decided to recreate JYP's dances in front of Seungmin to cheer him up, purposely making them look more sloppy than they actually were.
"Join me Seungmin!"
"No *gasping for breath* you're too much sometimes. Laughs"
Jeongin
Tumblr media
° You out the Self in self-conscious, meaning you were a very introverted and anxious person naturally. It took over a year for you to warm up to your boyfriend Jeongin, but he was patient with you and got the best reward by having you by his side.
° This is why he was so shocked when you asked him to show you the side effects dance, since you've never really mentioned an interest of any type of dancing. Not even dancing at a party or simply bopping out in the car. But he wasn't going to waste the rare opportunity.
° Before you could second guess yourself, he pulled you to the dance studio. Hooking the song in the speakers, he stepped in front of you so you couldn't see the mirror. Knowing you would want to back out once you saw yourself. He wanted to make you feel safe.
"Maybe I should try this another time."
"But I want to hold you for a bit longer."

BTS Reaction || Fangirling Over Lee Felix [Request]
Tumblr media
[BTS X Gender Neutral Reader] Fangirling Over Lee Felix’s Voice
STORY: You'd been dying all week to finally see Stray Kids perform Back Door at the award ceremony your boyfriend was taking you to watch since he and the rest of his band members were also going to be performing after Stray Kids. You were mostly excited to finally see Lee Felix and his amazing voice sing live, it had always interested you on how someone who looked so you and innocent could make his voice sound like the devil had possessed him. You fangirled a lot over him whenever your boyfriend wasn't around, but sometimes he'd catch you. He knew about Felix being your bias and it didn't tend to bother him because he never thought that you'd meet.
Seokjin:
As soon as Jin saw that giant smile on your face he knew he was in trouble, you hadn't stopped smiling like that since Stray Kids walked onto the stage and began performing the song, your eyes had been glued onto Felix - your bias - throughout the entire show and Jin felt overcome with jealously. He'd never been jealous before but this was raging inside of him, he wrapped his arm around your shoulder to send out a silent message that you were his.
"They're great right, all amazing performers and ugh Felix's voice!" You giggled not hearing Felix and the rest of the boys were walking so close behind your table,
"I'm glad you enjoyed the show." You jumped a little suddenly hearing his voice come from right behind you,
"Hi! Sorry- I mean Hi." You were trying to remain as calm as possible but it was hard when someone you had liked for so long was finally talking to you. Jin's grip around you tightened and you suddenly remembered where you were and who you were with.
"Felix this is my boyfriend Kim Seokjin, Jin this is Lee Felix from Stray Kids." You introduced them and Jin stood up shaking Felix's hand but you could tell from the grip that he had on the poor boy that it was a tight one.
"Jin." You warned looking at him but he held onto Felix's hand and stared into his eyes as if they were having their own conversation without speaking to one another aloud.
"Felix we should go to our table." Minho said looking at you and then to Jin trying to help you out with your jealous boyfriend. Felix left and you smirked,
"I was just-"
"Sit down jealous ass." You teased sitting back in your chair and holding his hand under the table.
Tumblr media
Yoongi:
"Wasn't that amazing!?" You asked as you stood backstage watching as Stray Kids did a small interview with the two idols presenting the show, Yoongi wrapped his arm around you and hummed in agreement not really giving you an answer but staring at Felix as he began making his way off stage.
"You never get this excited about seeing us perform." Yoongi scoffed at you and you rolled your eyes at him - you did and he knew that but right now he wasn't in the right mindset.
"Felix?" You called out wanting to tell them how great they did, he looked up to see you and Yoongi standing there and he smiled bowing to you both.
"You guys were great! Better than great you were awesome-"
"We get it they did amazing." Yoongi snapped and you brushed it off smiling at Felix and complimenting all of them again trying your best not to make a fool of yourself in front of him.
"Thank you, it's nice to meet you." He chuckled looking from you to Yoongi who was still holding you tightly and staring at Felix,
"This is my boyfriend Min Yoongi, Yoongi say hi-"
"Hi. I'm their boyfriend, it's nice to meet you...Felix was it?" You jabbed him playfully in the side, you didn't want him to come across rude to the younger boy.
"Sorry, he's just tired." You lied smiling at Felix who was starting to look a little worried about Yoongi,
"See you around." As soon as he left Yoongi smiled hugging you again but you pushed yourself away from him,
"Why did you act like that?" You giggled softly you didn't want to make this a big joke but it was kind of funny to see Yoongi acting so jealous around you all of a sudden. The last time he'd gotten jealous was when you first met the rest of the guys and they all began complimenting you.
"You're mine I just-"
"You got jealous? Yoongi I love you okay." He kissed your temple while nodding his head.
"I love you too."
Tumblr media
Hoseok:
Felix was the one to come over to you and Hoseok backstage, he'd been dying to meet Hoseok since forever and it was finally a chance to do it.
"It's nice to finally meet you," He bowed to both of you and you smiled at him shaking your head,
"It's nice to meet you too, you were excellent out there." You complimented causing him to blush a little,
"T-Thank you." He started stuttering and that was when Hoseok wrapped his arm around your waist and kissed your cheek,
"Y/n are we still on for our date later?" You ignored Hoseok knowing he was just acting a little jealous because you were in front of another guy. He did the same thing when he caught you hanging out with Jungkook without him, he began pulling you close and kissing you to make it known that you're his.
"Hoseok-"
"No it's okay, He's just trying to let me know you're taken." Felix chuckled being able to read Hoseok's body language easily.
"He's an idiot, I'm sorry." You laughed but Felix assured you it was fine before walking away to the rest of his group. You turned to look Hoseok in the eyes and shook your head at him,
"You're an idiot, he's one of the sweetest guys-"
"I don't care how sweet he is, you're mine." He growled bringing you closer to him and kissing the top of your head.
Tumblr media
Namjoon:
You and Felix had been friends for a while but it didn't stop you from fangirling about him and how amazing his voice was.
"His voice can get so deep Joonie! It's insane!" You laughed backstage watching as Felix began talking into the microphone, he was paired with Chan to present some of the awards for the evening. You hadn't noticed but Namjoon was getting more and more jealous with every passing second that you spoke about Felix.
"Oh they're coming-" You were cut off when you were turned around to face Namjoon and he began making out with you, putting his hands on the back of your head to hold you close to his lips as he could get you.
"Joon." You groaned pushing him away, you'd agreed when you first started dating that he didn't want PDA, that it wasn't something he wanted to do.
"I missed Felix." You groaned watching both him and Chan walking further backstage and away from you, you turned to Namjoon who had a smirk across his face.
"You should just be focused on me anyway." You groaned at him pushing him away and going to find the rest of the BTS boys instead of standing with your jealous boyfriend.

Jimin:
When Jimin got jealous he didn't want you to know about it so he subtly tried to deepen his voice throughout the night, you were sitting on the table with Stray Kids and talking to Felix instead of Jimin. He began wrapping his arm around the back of your chair to show off that you were with him and not Felix, then when that didn't work he began kissing the top of your hand or kissing your cheek whenever he could.
"It was nice to meet you, sorry about Jimin." You said as you and the boys all got up from the table, Jimin frowned wondering what you were saying sorry for.
"It's alright, he's just a little jealous and I would be too. You're gorgeous." He winked before walking away, you turned to look at Jimin who was pouting.
"I wasn't jealous." You smirked nodding along with him but not agreeing with him,
"Sure baby, that's why you kept deepening your voice whenever you spoke." He glared at you as you began laughing and walking out of the venue, but this wasn't over. He wasn't about to let you get away with thinking he was jealous even if he was.
Tumblr media
Taehyung:
The moment Taehyung knew Felix was going to be at the event he was trying his best to make sure that you stayed close to him and didn't walk away from him and go to Felix. He trusted you, of course, but he didn't want you to go over and fangirl about Felix. He'd seen it a million times before, you adored everything the boy did and you had his photocard in the back of your phone - despite the fact that Taehyung had given you your own photo cards of him for you to use.
"I don't see the big deal, I can make my voice go that low it's not that hard." With that he then began to deepen his voice as he spoke to you right before he started choking, you handed him your water while rolling your eyes.
"I thought it wasn't hard." You smirked and he glared at you watching as Felix walked behind you and smiled, he wrapped his arm around your shoulder to make it a point that you were taken by someone else.
"Tae!" You yelled looking at him as he spilt the bottle of water down on your lap making it look like you'd had an accident.
"I hate you," You lied getting up from the table and shaking your head.
Tumblr media
Jungkook:
"Thank you Y/n it was nice to see you again," Felix said as he wrapped his arms around you in a friendly hug, he looked up at Jungkook expecting to see him smiling but caught him glaring back at him. He'd been doing it all night even though you'd been begging him to stop. You and Felix were close friends and had been since he moved to Korea but Jungkook didn't see it that way, he saw it as the younger male having a crush on you but never admitting it.
"Jungkook stop it or your face will be stuck like that," You warned him shaking your head when you saw how he was reacting towards Felix.
"Did I do something to offend him?" Felix asked suddenly feeling uneasy not wanting to upset the older boy but you shook your head before playfully pushing Jungkook away from you both.
"He just gets jealous easy and thinks you have a crush on me." Your smirked looking at Jungkook who was now glaring at you while he wrapped his arm around you protectively.
"He's got nothing to worry about." Felix promised you winking as he walked away from you and Jungkook, Jungkook licked his teeth before kissing you passionately as if he was trying to send a message.

'christmas ornaments’
skz of christmas day 4: christmas party with hyunjin
member: hyunjin  wc: 1.3k genre: fluff, bare minimum soulmate au, established relationship au, college au, comedy  warning: explicit language note: pls i wrote this during midterms
Okay, okay, okay, socks! Where are my socks—ooh, a cookie! This doesn’t look two weeks old, I think I can eat it? Wait, wait, that’s not what I’m supposed to be looking at! What am I looking for? Um....uhhh....
Socks? You try suggesting to the voice in your head, letting out an actual chuckle in your physical setting so he won’t hear it from your thoughts. Baby, you’ve been looking for socks the past three minutes.
Right, socks! Thanks Y/N! Hyunjin physically puckers up on his side and telepathically sends you a kiss with an imagined sound and you burst out laughing in your head as a response. Bruh, where’s my kiss back?
Maybe if you’re already on the way to the party like you said fifteen minutes ago, you’d be getting all the kisses you want, dumbass. You point out with a roll of your eyes, bursting into more giggles when he starts whining in between unconsciously narrating whatever he is doing as he prepares to leave his dorm. Next to you in the backseat of Yeji’s car, Jeongin looks up from his phone to give you another comical judgmental stare over your ‘weird’ soulmate connection. What’s taking you so long, anyway? You’re probably just dressed in a white robe like one of the three Kings or something.
Excuse me, I made a lot of effort with my costume! The boy huffs, his train of thought finally shifting focus from looking for his socks to actually wearing them. You assume he’s finally moved on from it. It’s going to blow your mind and win me the best costume award at the party!
“So what’s hyung’s costume?” Jeongin asks as if on cue, sitting up properly when the edges of his Northern star costume starts to wrinkle ever so slightly. When you shrug and shake your head in response, he scoffs and adds, “I’m telling you, he’s probably coming in as baby Jesus.”
“That or as a Christmas tree.” You supplement, Hyunjin quickly protesting in your head at this comment. “He’s yelling at me, hold on!”
Y/N, we as a society have progressed past the need to dress up as Christmas trees! Hyunjin simultaneously exclaims matter-of-factly, informing you in between that he’s now on his way out of his dorm. On that note, I saw Minho come out his room in a Christmas tree costume a while ago because he really doesn’t give a shit so of course I wouldn’t let myself be caught in the same thing.
You sigh, feigning exasperation. So what are you? Honestly, I’m surprised you managed to keep this from me for two weeks.
There’s a large pause after, a faint echo of Minho and Jisung’s voices yelling at Hyunjin to get in the car filling in for your boyfriend’s lack or response until he’s settled enough to think, Like I said, you’ll find out with everyone else later!
You shake your head in disapproval in front of Jeongin this time, crossing your arms over your carefully constructed mug costume. “He’s really laying it on thick this year, Innie.”
-
Your annual Christmas party at the Campus Radio’s club room is officially communicated to the student council under your senior Chan’s name but it’s mostly you and your friends calling the shots on the specifics. In particular, it’s usually Minho and Jisung who decide on the costume theme—which just so happened to be Christmas ornaments for this year.
Because of this, you arrive at the club house seeing all of your friends and blockmates filling the large expanse of the designated dance floor with their life-sized ornaments. You see Chan waddling around as a snowman, Felix handing cookies around as Rudolph, Chaeryeong in her Mary-inspired attire, Sana in a replica of Mariah Carey’s Christmas album outfit, and even Changbin comically showing up as a Christmas Ham wearing one too many questionable-looking fishnets and patterning his red cheeks to the food’s netted texture.
“Y/N!” Felix bounces up to you and Yeji with his Tupperware or cookies and a bright red clown nose on his face. It makes the two of you giggle, especially at how it still sort of makes him look like a clown despite the antlers that go along with it. “Ha, I see you’ve brought some milk! Care for a cookie to go with it?”
You look down on your big red and green mug covering your casual attire from your waist all the way down to your knees with a laugh, taking out a bit cookie cut-out from under the Japanese paper ‘milk’ wrinkled around the rim of the mug. “Sorry, Lix, I already got my own cookie!” You joke, the punchline effectively toppling over the boy in laughter. You take a cookie from his Tupperware anyway and return your fake one back inside its designated pocket lining the inside of your costume mug. “So, has Hyunjin arrived yet?”
“You tell me.” Felix pouts. “We’ll start the program in five minutes and from what I remembered he volunteered himself to host.”
“He probably chickened out.” Yeji teases with a shrug, earning her a disapproving frown from you. “What? Why do you think he’s being all secretive with his costume?”
“Maybe they’re just stuck in traffic or something.” You point out, whipping your head around for your any signs of a dramatic entrance from your boyfriend and his two roommates. “When we turned to campus, they were already out of their dorms.”
And, as if on cue, the main double door entrance where you previously came from bursts open with a loud thud and releases bright light and cheap smoke effects from the other side (you’re quite sure it’s just from Chaeryeong and Chan grilling meat right outside).
“Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas everyone!” Santa Claus Jisung prances in the room with a red Jansport bag of your program’s game props and mini prizes. Minho the Christmas tree trails along with red and green balls for dangling earrings. “Did you guys wait long?”
“Hi, guys.” Minho waves curtly with his most passive smile before smacking the back of Jisung’s head. A few of your friends then crowd around the two when Jisung starts handing out pre-program candies.
“And where’s your boyfriend?” Yeji nudges your side as the two of you watch your two friends in secondhand embarrassment.
Yeah, Jinnie, where are you? You ask back to your boyfriend, peering around for any sign of him.
I’m over here! Hyunjin answers telepathically to you almost immediately, his voice growing louder as he now approaches the door. Prepare yourselves!
In front of you, Hyunjin then decides on making his dramatic entrance with the goofiest grin on his face that makes you, Yeji, and Felix smack your hands up to your temples in unison.
Of all the Christmas ornaments Hyunjin could pick, he just had to go as the whole Nativity scene. Balancing a life-sized diorama of Jesus’ birth right in front of his body—complete with stick, Styrofoam, and cellophane figures of the Mary, Joseph, and the Three Kings—your boyfriend’s head fits right on the scene as a replacement to the baby Jesus Christ while his hands hold the sides of the manger’s pillars all the way down to his waist.
“Hey, guys, sorry we’re late!” Hyunjin announces dramatically, briefly covering his face with his hand at the sight of everyone giggling at his costume. “Got a bit stuck in traffic—and I might’ve also gotten stuck on our car before getting here—but is everyone ready for the program?!”
Hyunjin gazes over to you last, his comically confident grin turning into a more sheepish one at meeting your eyes. So? Like it?
Jesus Christ, Hyunjin, you pretend to cover your eyes in front of him which makes him laugh instead of sulking as you intended.
Ha, see? You’re already getting into the joke of it! He points out, gesturing to his head stuck on a mini manger made of plastic straws. You’ll have to tell him that he looks like a baby lion with this set-up later. Get it? Because I’m supposed to be Jesus in this costume?
Just get to MC-ing, Hyunjinnie...and we’ll have to talk about you stealing my Best Costume Award later!

congrats on 900!! 🥳🥳 the fact that you're only 100 away from 1k is insane 😯 could i get a dps, tmr, s&b, and marauders ships pls (romantically) ok so little blurb abt myself: i'm a ravenclaw, infp 9w1, gemini sun (and venus), and my pronouns are she/her/hers. i do theatre at my school, both cast and crew, and i would like to go into science when i get older. i don't have many hobbies but i like to listen to music and i like being outside a lot. top albums atm are ctrl by sza and is this it by the strokes and i've been listening to a lot of fleetwood mac too. i think if i had to describe myself in three words i would say introverted, inconsistent, and i'm not really sure abt the last one. maybe vegetarian. because i'm vegetarian. i think sometimes i'm very much allison reynolds and other times i'm very much rosie from mamma mia! . anyways i don't really know how to end this little blurb but congrats again on 900 :))
ahh thank u so much angel!! i know holy shit im so :o?!?! and of course you can - omg i can't wait to write these!!! sorry if they're a little long, i like to ramble- and also a fellow infp 9w1!!!! aaa!!!!!
for dead poets society, i'd ship you with pitts!
i just think pitts would adore you and your vibe. pitts is such an outdoorsy person, so a lot of your dates would be driven by that; little picnics in the park, ice cream at the beach, walks through cute forests in the autumn, swimming in lakes, all of that nature stuff. i think pitts would love having a ravenclaw gf, and he'd find so much to talk to you about - he definitely takes an interest in science and would ask you all about your future plans and aspirations. he's such a good listener, so feel free to go into as much detail as you'd like about it and he'll soak up every word. this boy is super into music, and is more that willing to take recommendations from you. you've definitely converted him to a sza stan, and he already loves fleetwood mac so it's a win win. he'd show you some of his fav albums, and you'll spend an afternoon discovering new music together, dancing around stupidly until you're tired and out of breath.
for the maze runner, i'd ship you with minho!
for some reason, i think you and minho would be a great pair! as you're a more introverted person, he'd definitely make the first move - this is minho, after all. i think he'd take an interest in you the moment you came up in the box, but wouldn't want to scare you too much, as it's already quite a terrifying experience without being flirted with by a strange boy. but once you've settled in more, he takes his chances. there's not a lot of music in the glade, so you both settle for humming and singing little tunes you come up with yourself, or fragments of songs you remember from somewhere deep in your memory. as he's off running during the day, nights are the best time for you both to hang around. he'll practically crash into you and hug you tightly, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead before rushing into the map rooms. during the bonfires, he'd stick with you the whole night, wandering the glade. towards the end of the night, you'd both flop down into the grass and stare at the stars, pointing out particularly bright or pretty ones. minho is insanely protective of you, and isn't afraid to fight one of the other gladers if they step out of line.
for shadow and bone, i'd ship you with jesper!
oh my god, jesper would be enamoured by you. reading 'rosie from mamma mia' gave me such jesper vibes, he'd adore a s/o like that. you'd both bounce off of each other's personalities, gaining a little more confidence and energy around jesper, whilst you calm him down slightly. since jesper can't really think of many hobbies he could list off of the top of his head, so you both like to try new activities together and see if anything catches on! pottery was fun, but way too time consuming for life in the barrel, but you'll find something perfect soon enough. he'd treat you to walks through ketterdam, managing to steal you small gifts here and there to present you with, an award winning smile on his face. he loves your theatrical side. he's always asking so many questions, whether it's about the sort of work you did as crew and if it was tricky, or about your roles and performances as a cast member. he'd want to learn musical theatre duets to perform with you when you were alone on an oddly domestic night, the both of you feeling like normal teenagers for once.
for the marauders era, i'd ship you with remus!
the moment i saw fleetwood mac, this made perfect sense to me. you and remus would be absolutely perfect. firstly, i definitely think he'd try out the whole vegetarian thing; even if he doesn't fully change his diet, he may try cooking some veggie meals for you both to share, delighting in how happy it makes you. you spend a lot of time on the hogwarts grounds, laying on his chest as he reads to you, or just making conversation as the sun hits your skin just right. he'll do everything he can to sneak you into the gryffindor common room and his dorm, not enjoying having you in a whole other part of the castle during the night. he likes to cuddle, okay. he'd just adore you. he thinks you're the best thing to happen to him, and isn't planning on letting go of you any time soon.
i hope u enjoyed these lovely!!! im sorry they took a while,, but i hope u like them and thanks sm for sending something in!! <3

This drabble is part of the 50 Kisses Drabble Challenge! [ Requested: Number 15 + 21 + Chan ]
Number 15: A fierce kiss that ends with a bite on the lip, soothing it with a lick
Number 21: A chaste kiss given to each other because they are in mixed company
A/N: I’m not exactly and completely back, but I wrote this to de-stress from all the assignments that are overwhelming me right now :) It’s more of a very self-indulgent Chan piece because I am whipped for the man. It’s a bit sloppy and messy as I haven’t written in so long, but I enjoyed putting these into writing to relieve stress. Also, it might be suggestive for some, so I’m putting this out here to warn just in case! Enjoy!
Tumblr media
This year had been a good one for your group, and it certainly has been for your fellow labelmates. The other artists under JYP Entertainment also had several accomplishments and achieved goals throughout the year, but there were still some unfinished tasks.
The other artists were busy with comebacks and promotions, but your group and Stray Kids met at the company building’s practice room to polish certain things. The idea came from one of the managers of the company, suggesting that Stray Kids and your group should have a collaboration stage for an upcoming award show. Everyone thought it was a good idea as the dynamics and chemistry between the groups was pretty good.
And there was the fact that you, your group’s leader, and Bang Chan, Stray Kids’ leader, were dating.
No one knew. The public didn’t know. Only your respective members, managers, and a handful of people at the company knew, but that was it. The relationship was a secret, as usual, and despite being in the same company, you and Chan rarely got to spend time with each other due to schedules.
Perhaps this collab stage would be a means for the two of you to bond even more.
Minho, Hyunjin and your group’s main dancer were busy discussing how a certain portion of the choreography should go. The other members were either exhausted and sprawled on the floor, or sitting on the leather couch to cool themselves while eating ice cream.
You were next to Chan on the leather couch, legs cutely tucked to your chest as you leaned on his shoulder. Chan was showing you various videos to get inspiration from, and the exchange of ideas was just a natural thing between the two of you. You’d joke around from time to time, laughing and playfully swatting each other from time to time.
“Chan,” you point at his phone, “let’s play with the Snow filters.”
Chan laughs,‌ “Did Minho influence you to start using his cute filters as well?”
“They are cute.” you say in a matter-of-fact tone.
With a light chuckle, Chan opens the app, handing the phone over to you so you can browse through the various filters and effects. You take a few random shots of yourself with various animal ears and little doodles on your face. Afterwards, you select a wacky and weird one and tell Chan to join you.
The finished product prompts the two of you to burst in laughter, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. “Please don’t ever show me that filter ever again!” Chan says in between giggles.
You mimic his actions, clutching your stomach from laughing too much, “Ok, but you have to admit it was really funny.”
Once you both have calmed down from the giggly fits, the main dancers call everyone’s attention and explain how the formations and choreo was going to work. Minutes turned into a few hours, and eventually, both your groups got the basic gist of everything.
Later on, you and Chan sat on the couch, monitoring the routine from where you sat. When you were both satisfied, you called for another break. Some members went out to buy drinks at Soul Cup while others opted to take a quick nap to energize. You, Chan, Changbin, Felix, and your group’s main rapper were seated on the floor, discussing random things like possible costumes, styling, and makeup for this stage.
“I’d pay with my whole bank account to see the stylists put shiny red lip gloss on Lix.” your rapper points out with a grin.
Felix laughs, shrugging cutely, “I don’t think that actually sounds bad. It sounds great, actually!”
Changbin smirks, turning to face you, “What do you want the stylists to do with Chan?”
“Please don’t say rip my shirt or something like that.” Chan laughs, shaking his head.
You laugh with him, humming for a few seconds as you rummage through your brain archives. You have thought of particular stylings you wanted to see on your boyfriend. “I’m not too sure. Chan pulls everything off, but I guess I want to see him wear stuff inspired by the whole vampire concept or the like.” you muse.
“Vamp Chan!” Felix jokes before proceeding to make an impersonation of Dracula.
Your rapper laughs, nodding enthusiastically, “That would really suit Chan, honestly. He has the looks and vibe for it.”
“Then we should tell Minho to add a part in the choreo where Chan bites y/n’s neck or something.” Changbin wiggles his eyebrows, the colors in his eyes displaying a cheeky nature.
You playfully swat his leg, “Hey, the performance isn’t supposed to be kinky!”
“Who says?” Chan plays along, copying the way Changbin wiggled his eyebrows.
“I actually think it would add a nice touch!” your rapper notes, her eyes serious, “Think about it. The song you and Chan made has a very dark and sexy vibe, and the choreo our dancers came up with is very sultry and pretty cinematic. It would make a beautiful touch!”
Felix nods, “It could be included in the ending. Like as the whole song and routine ends, Chan comes up from behind and proceeds to ‘bite’ y/n, and then the lights go out so it’s up to the audiences’ interpretation.”
“Mysterious, sexy, and intriguing.” Chan pouts his lips, nodding slowly, “It’s really artistic, and I don’t think it sounds bad. What do you think, y/n?”
You hum, the thought of doing such an action with your boyfriend buzzing your nerves with excitement. Surely, intimacy was something you and Chan weren’t foreign to as you both have done things in private, but to do something that “sensual” on a stage for millions to see, you were a bit embarrassed. Willing but embarrassed.
In the end, you gave in to the thought. The others were right; it would be a nice touch to the performance, and since you were most comfortable with Chan, there shouldn’t be any problems. You nodded and offered a small smile, “Yeah, sure. I think it’s going to be great.”
Once the practice resumes, you and Chan bring the dancers aside to share the idea with them. Amused, they immediately agree and change the routine just a little to accommodate the additional idea.
With the new addition sorted out, your groups run through the whole routine a few more times. During the final run-through, you deliver your final line as the members slowly and gracefully fall to the ground. You end your line by standing in the middle of the formation, bringing your arms out as if longing to reach for someone. Chan then creeps up behind, wrapping his arms around you seductively, head leaning in and burying his face by the crook of your neck.
You both remain in that position for a few seconds until Minho says it’s done. A bunch of yay’s and claps ring through the room, and for some reason, you feel your cheeks heating up with a pink tint. Chan keeps his arms around you, gently swaying your bodies. “How was it?” the leader asks.
Minho smirks, giving a thumbs up, “You guys were right. It added some spice to the whole thing. I like it.”
Hyunjin nods, his plump lips curling into a giddy smile, “I know it’s ‘cause you’re both dating, but you and y/n make a really great pair. The chemistry is off the charts!”
You giggle shyly, biting your lip at the dancer’s words. Chan smirks proudly, craning his head so he can lean in and place a chaste kiss onto your lips. A few of the members whistle and hoot, causing you to shyly smile against your boyfriend’s lips. You peck him once more before pulling away to smile at him, “You’re really going to do this in front of the kids?”
Chan looks at you innocently, “Do what?”
You playfully scoff, squirming away from his arms. You miss the feel of his skin on yours, so you end up just holding his hand. “The routine is perfect, but I think Chan and I should do some final check up on the song itself. See if it needs to be tweaked.”
“Hmm, that’s true.” Jisung nods.
“Do you and Changbin want to work with us, or will you take it easy?” you ask with a smile.
Changbin shakes his head, “It’s fine! You and Chan can do it. I have to go to the gym in a while anyway.”
Chan nods, squeezing your hand, “Alright, we’ll go now.”
With that, you and Chan exit the practice room and head for this studio. Once you’re both out of reach, Minho turns to everyone else, “Pretty sure they aren’t going to work on the song.”
“Please.” your rapper laughs with a naughty smirk, “The song is perfect already. They’re working on something else.”
“Please stop.” Jeongin and Seungmin pretend to gag, laughing afterwards.
Meanwhile, you and Chan go inside his studio, shutting the door. You sit on one of the black couches there, tilting your head, “What if we make the song sound more intense?‌ Like, the beat itself. The lyrics and flow are perfect already.”
“Hmmm,” Chan hums, spinning around on his chair, “I think it’s perfect as it is, honestly. You added the final touches yesterday, and I think that sealed it.”
“Really?” you muse, biting your lip, “You’re the better producer, so I’ll trust you on that.”
Chan shakes his head, smiling cutely, “You’re just as good, y/n. The girls are lucky to have you as their leader.”
“And Stray Kids is lucky to have you.” you chuckle, playfully giving him finger-hearts.
Chan playfully wiggles his eyebrows, giving you a funny face, “Do you want to hear me say something cheesy?”
“Don’t you always say stuff like that?” you joke, “But go ahead. I’d like to hear this.”
Chan tries his best to look seductive, but he ends up cracking up in laughter. With a goofier grin, he says, “I’m lucky to have you.”
You know he’s joking around and being his playful self, but you take the words to heart and feel like a melting pool of fluff. With a gentle smile, you stand up and walk over to him, situating yourself between his legs. Your hands go up to rest on his shoulders, eyes warmly staring at the male, “I’d say the same thing, but we’re just going to argue over who’s the luckier one.”
Chan laughs airily, hands gently perched on your waist, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
With that, one of Chan’s hands travel up your back, resting at your nape to bring your faces closer to each other. He captures your lips with is own, kissing you much deeper than back at the practice room. His soft and plump lips feel glorious on your own, moving with a fluidity and fire that has your knees going week. You end up straddling your boyfriend, moving your arms to coil around his neck.
Chan’s hands return to your waist, gently squeezing the area as he elicits a sigh from you. His kisses grow hungrier by the second, tongues mingling in a sultry dance as neither of you pull back to breathe. Your fingers begin to gingerly rake through his messy blond hair, tugging at the curls each time his tongue brushes against yours.
One particular tug has him biting your lip, which in turn causes you to release another sigh. Chan realizes what he had just done, afraid that he may have gone too far and hurt your lip. He pulls away slightly, your lips still ghosting above each other’s as his tongue darts out to soothingly lick the bitten area.
But then his kisses traverse lower, ending up on the slope of your neck. His supple lips send shivers down your spine and buzz every inch of your nerves as he gingerly presses his kisses. The way you’re stroking his hair encourages him as he begins to lightly nibble and suckle on the exposed skin there. You can’t help but smile and giggle softly at how it tickles.
The male drags his lips up to your jaw, peppering it with more kisses until he returns to your lips. With one more chaste kiss to your red, swollen lips, you both pull away completely. You giggle, playing with the hairs on Chan’s nape, “You’re really taking your vampire role seriously, Bang Chan.”
“Am not.” he laughs, pecking your lips once more, “I just really love you.”
You giggle giddily, pressing your forehead against his, “And I just really love you too.”

night changes ⤖ bang chan
❖ genre : friends to lovers! au; fluff;
❖ word count : 5.3k
❖ warning : explicit language & mentions of alcohol
❖ summary : kissing Bang Chan was never on your New Year's resolutions list but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
one.
This is probably the tenth wedding you’ve been asked to plan out and as always, you’re not having it.
In your defense, there are countless reasons to hate a wedding.
One, all of your friends are out and about, running into the love of their lives like it was meant to be. Soon enough, all of your girls’ night out would be cancelled in replacement for their date nights. The next thing you know is that you’re now standing somewhere in the audience while they’re having their soon-to-be husband slipping the wedding band on their ring finger. Meaning, all you can answer during every family gathering about your non-existent love life is “I‘m not seeing anyone.”
Two, you don’t trust someone enough for them not to break your heart because you’re incredibly terrified of commitment. A single vow and a piece of paper simply means nothing if their feelings for you fade as time passes by. And obviously, they’d feel obligated not to leave you behind because, well, like they’ve said before - “I do.”
Three, people always say, if you love something, you have to learn to let it go. From your point of view, that’s just total bullshit. If you love something so badly, why should you even let it go in the first place ? You’re supposed to hold onto to it like your life depends on it, even if it makes you seem utterly pathetic. And you’re the kind of person who falls in love with someone, then let your entire universe revolves around them. Not to mention, you’d always end up getting hurt anyway.
Four, who the fuck would want to get married on New Year’s Eve ? Kim Woojin, unfortunately.
Not only do you feel personally called out because your best friend knows that you’re super single and super antisocial at the same time, but also because your other friends have already got themselves a kiss before 2020 even strikes. No doubt, you’d rather stay at home and cuddle with your dog instead. At least he’s willing to give you kisses at all times.
Worst case scenario ? You can still sit back and chat with your favorite person in the whole wide world. Hyunjin is easily mistaken by people that he’s either a player or a fuckboy, but in reality, he’s the literal definition of a ‘Hot Cheetos’. Meaning, he’s quite the looker but has the IQ of a freaking Cheetos despite his sparkly GPA because he’s just lost all the time. Anyhow, you never take his company for granted. He would rather take a step back and watch others party until they pass out on the floor, very much similar to you. In conclusion, you guys are practically platonic soulmates.
“How’s Felix been doing with that girl from work ?” You ask while sipping on the glass of rosé that a waitress has politely offered. Getting hammered tonight isn’t a bad choice, you figure as soon as ‘Beautiful in white’ starts playing in the background.
Hyunjin purses his lips and stares at his glass of bubbly water. “He was shaking while talking to her via text. Via text ! Fucking pathetic.” He clicks his tongue in disapproval. “At this rate, I’ll have no choice but to steal his phone and ask her out on a date in courtesy of him.”
You nod in acknowledgement. “He didn’t even have the courage to confess to the girl in Park’s business class back in college. How is he gonna get with someone from work where everything’s more complex and dramatic ? If he doesn’t have a girlfriend by next year, I’ll make him marry Seo Changbin.” Frowning at the burning sensation from the alcohol, you shake your head before placing the glass down. That’s too much wine for today.
You low-key feel bad for Felix and high-key wants to grill his ass at the same time. He might not be very smart, academically, but his hardworking nature made up for everything and that’s why he’d always excel in every single class that he attended. And if you were one of those shallow girls who are all about appearances and shit, you’d definitely fall for him. With a decently attractive face and chiseled abs, he already had your whole school down on their knees back then.
Okay, you might have exaggerated but Lee Felix is really something else. If only people could take more effort in getting to know him, he’s not just another pretty face to look at because nobody’s perfect. Felix is that kid who ran on three hours of sleep back in school because he had to finish homework then played video games in the dark until he’s sick of it. His parents’ bank accounts were probably mortified because they had to pay for their son’s eye surgery sooner or later.
But he is your stepbrother after all, in spite of his flaws.
“Wait, isn’t that Bang Chan from Changbin’s hip hop trio ? 3racha right ?” You notice a familiar face in the midst of chaotic people.
Hyunjin cranes his neck over the crowd and spots Chan almost immediately. “Oh right, we did decide to keep in touch but haven’t really talked that much. I heard they got signed into a music production company so things have been a bit crazy for them. You know, the music industry. Problematic as shit.”
Truth is, you’d be lying if you said that you didn’t have a crush on Chan back in the good old days college. You’ve only talked for a couple of times since he’s a mutual friend through Changbin but never really got the chance to get to know him because you’re extremely awkward when it comes to an authentic, in real life conversation. You’re also not the type to fall for someone twice but Chan looks really good tonight.
So your heart says otherwise.
Tumblr media
two.
Not thoughts. Head empty. Just Chan.
Kim Woojin just has to have you and Chan sitting at the same table. Now he’s barely eight feet away and you’re already feeling the need to take a breather. You practically lost your feelings for him in the middle of your senior year because of the overloading amount of work and because you never mustered enough courage to ask for his number. But he’s currently right in front of you, too busy all smiling and laughing at Changbin’s dumb jokes to notice the mini mental debate that’s happening inside your head.
Chan has never appealed to you as much of a fashionista like Hyunjin because in college, he usually showed up with long-sleeved shirts, shorts and caps. Black all the way from head to toe. But now you’re starting to wonder if Hyunjin got his good taste from Chan because he can effortlessly pulls off a simple black suit and steals your heart with ease.
He’s wearing a one button suit with notch lapel, giving it a formal yet smart, casual look without overdressing. His white dress shirt is tucked inside his slacks neatly, hugging his body perfectly, and you know that he still takes good care of himself by the crispness of the cuffs. The matte finish of the black fabric makes the whole look that much more expensive with minimal effort. In which, makes your navy blazer over a silky black shirt, and matching pants extremely pale in comparison. Your black heels are also digging into your feet and you’re starting to regret the amount of money that you’ve spent on them.
You’re looking like you’re about to attend a meeting while Chan looks like he’s next on the red carpet for some award show. Oh the things you do to plan out your best friend’s wedding. You just can never imagine yourself frantically running from one place to another in a cocktail dress or a full-on gown. Not even in the next life.
“Christ, I miss my flats.” You wince slightly when the stilettos dig into the back of your feet, outstretching red marks across your skin when you try to sit down. Long story short, someone messed up the entire menu the day right before the wedding and nobody noticed it until you walked into the kitchen fifteen minutes ago for a last-minute checkup. So you’re obligated to spend another ten minutes trying to figure things out while having Jisung entertain everyone by a spicy session of the Pocky Game. Classic.
Seungmin frowns. “Just go bare-footed, the floor is decently clean. This place is a five-starred restaurant after all.” He gently helps you remove the undeniably uncomfortable shoes, tossing them under the table not long after. Your feet finally stop yelling at you for the first time since the past hours and you too, think that it was the wisest decision you’ve made tonight.
“Thanks Min, I really should have just said ‘fuck heels’ and gone with boots instead.” You smile weakly at your friend, feeling drained from the amount of work that you’ve put into Woojin’s wedding. Although weddings are still considered annoying in your eyes but Woojin has been there for you through every ups and downs. He’s the person who’d picked you up from really shitty parties and also the only one who’d cooked you hangover soup plenty of times because you just can’t accept how low your alcohol tolerance is for your own good.
Speaking of which, your best friend creeps up from behind you out of nowhere and almost gives you a cardiac arrest. “How does it feel to eye-fuck my best friend in the middle of my wedding who’s also your ex-crush ?” He says and swings an arm around your shoulder.
You quickly snap out of it, looking at him in disbelief while jolting up from your seat. “I’m not a freaking stalker— and your best friend, what ? Fuck you.” Woojin is usually pretty chill compared to your chaotic group of friends but when he’s in the mood to pester you, you swear to God, he’s louder than Han Jisung and Lee Minho combined.
“Hmm, it’s about time anyway.” Woojin hums. He’s having that kind of smirk which makes you want to knock the daylight out of him as he angles his wrist to take a closer look at his watch. “Would you guys just kiss already ? Chan’s not coming back for a good year or so. 3racha and their dumb business trips.” This time, the playfulness in his voice disappears and a glint of sadness is evident in the corner of his eye. Regardless of how many times they drive each other insane, Woojin could never trade his friendship with Chan for anything else. How could he ?
But wait, Chan isn’t coming back until the very next year ?
“Who said that our business trips are dumb ?” Someone voices from behind you.
In that moment, when you turn around and see his beautiful face, you quickly come to a conclusion that this is rocket science. Talking to your crush is so fucking complicated you wish that they taught you this in school. Like okay, you know that a thermite reaction is basically what happens when metal burns. And if you perform it on a block of ice, you end up with a spectacular explosion. But still, there’s no spark in your dry ass love life.
“Oh, hey Chan—“ You attempt to turn on your heels to meet his eyes but your feet fail you for the tenth time of the night, and gravity is apparently a bitch, which means you fall forward onto something which means you’re now on top of Chan which means he’s being crushed underneath your weight consider all you’ve been eating are donuts for breakfast and lunch while skipping dinner for the past few weeks.
Chan flutters his eyes open, watching how heat slowly flares across your cheeks with mild interest. “Hey,” He grins, both dimples are fully on display. “Long time no see.”
“Oh my god, Chan ! I’m so sorry !” You frantically try to get off of him and offer him a hand to stand up straight. You’ve officially entered panic mode when he grabs your hand firmly enough to lift himself up again. His touch feels absolutely magical because his hand perfectly envelopes your smaller one with ease. As if it’s personally mold by whatever god up there to interlock with yours.
Chan laughs at your flustered state, giving your hand a squeeze in reassurance before slipping his fingers out of yours completely. “It’s fine, but shit, how much did you drink ?”
Needless to say, you miss his touch.
Tumblr media
three.
Ryujin deadpans. “Kiss-him-already.” Your roommate proceeds to kick your foot from under the table when she sees Chan excusing himself from the table.
Shin Ryujin don’t have to own the eyes of a legit eagle to see right through your nervous chuckles and the small glances that you keep throwing at Chan throughout dinner. It’s a pain in the ass to witness ‘awkward middle school Y/N’ all over again but at least she’d have something to post on her story in return.
You let out a barely audible groan because she is in fact, being so fucking obvious. Like hello ? Chan’s not blind, nor deaf and not to mention, he has a whole group of idiotic friends who have their phones out at all time to record any juicy moments during special occasions. Especially when it’s Woojin’s wedding.
But when you actually think about it, you’d definitely kick yourself too. Just thirty minutes ago, you had the perfect chance to strike a decent conversation with him yet your brain decided to have you chicken out of the situation instead. Everything was perfect to the T, the settings, the way that he smiles at you, the way that your heart picks up the pace just for him. But you indeed have to fuck up by blurting out the most pathetic little “I gotta go, the restaurant manager just texted me” to ever exist.
“Ryujin, I don’t think that’s how you help.” Jeongin supplies unhelpfully over a mouthful of crème brûlée, a desert dish that he can’t even pronounce properly. He swallows the big bite and pops another raspberry into his mouth, chewing obnoxiously. “This entire situation needs to be handled professionally.” He declares as if he’s THE expert. Good gracious, he’s quite the bad boy in highschool but those days are long gone.
Jeongin leaves his seat and cracks his knuckles dramatically. “Desperate times call for desperate measures. Changbin, give me a hand.” He waves Changbin over from the opposite side of the table. “You, me, on a count of three, get Y/N to the balcony for her New Year’s kiss. We better hurry cause we only got ten minutes to squeeze. Three, two, one.”
“No, no, no, oh my god PUT ME DOWN !”
It’s like every single neuron within the other one hundred million in Changbin’s brain cells is connected to Jeongin’s because before you can even object, the two of them easily shove you through the crowd of people who are swaying their bodies to the slow, sensual melody. When you can breathe normally again, your vision quickly adjusts itself on the surroundings, which is the restaurant rooftop terrace.
The cozy outdoor space features plenty of potted plants and contemporary furnishings. A sectional is complemented by an outdoor wicker square coffee table and a fabric covered butterfly chair. And there’s Chan, leaning against the black rail while admiring the city’s skyline. Your heart is thumping inside your rib cage so strongly that you can feel it through the veins on the back of your neck.
“Be subtle.” Jeongin pushes your back as soon as he sees your dreamy expression and he quickly drag Changbin away from the scene before he can even whip out his phone.
With his back profile facing you, Chan suddenly inquires calmly. “Are you gonna come here by yourself or do I have to hold your hand again ?”
You purse your lips. “Sure mom, I’m coming.” Yeah, real subtle.
After when you approach Chan and let your forearm dangling in midair from the steel rails, you can’t help but stare at him like a complete dumbass. Moon is lighting up his skin and breaking through his hair, the light embraces him elegantly like a halo of his own, leaving you completely astonished. Although he looks so ethereal in this moment, there’s also something else within his present that makes you a little fuzzy inside. Just like college, but stronger, more profound.
“How come you never asked for my number back then ?” Chan turns sideways and flashes you that boyish grin of his. He must know the effect that he has on you to keep playing with your heart like this. But also what ?
You’re gobsmacked at what he said, eyes as wide as a goldfish’s. “I didn’t even— how did you know ? It’s because of Jisung, isn’t it— my fucking God.” Words spill out from your lips one after another as if you've totally lost control of your own senses. When you’re able to finally snap it close, you also realize that too much has been said. All of your embarrassing moments were probably foiled right under your nose because Changbin and Jisung are two little big-mouthed shitheads.
Chan just laughs wholeheartedly because he’s secretly a sadist who loves to see you being a blushing mess. “I really should have just made the first move, huh ?” When you give him a confused look, he just sighs and takes out his phone. He goes straight into his contact list and shows you the screen with your name and number displayed on it. “Lix slid your number into my locket during your sophomore year, you’re quite clueless too because he clearly didn’t know how to hide secrets back then.”
“You had my number this whole time ?!” You exclaim rather loudly, mentally debating whether you should hug Lee Felix or throw him into a tank full of sharks. “Then how come you never gave me a call ?” A smile unknowingly outstretches on your lips when you find out that you’re not the only one who has been hesitating for a while. At least now you know that the feelings aren’t necessarily not mutual.
This time, it’s Chan’s turn to blush. In which you think he’s too cute when his pale cheeks are replaced by a coral shade of red. You start to wonder what it feels like to caress them with the tips of your fingers, to trace along his jaw and to run your hand through his locks of hair. And before he slips his phone back into his pocket, you catch a glimpse of his lock screen - a picture of Berry with the time displayed above her head [11:57p.m.].
Three minutes until 2020.
“Never got the courage to.” He confesses timidly. “I really thought that you wanted to ignore me for a second there. You know, the whole ‘the restaurant manager just texted me’ and you were avoiding my eyes. Not gonna lie Y/N, that shit stings.”
You roll your eyes at him. “FYI Christopher, it is scientifically proven that when a guy likes a girl, he looks straight into her eyes but when a girl has feelings for a guy, she simply looks away.” Despite the fact that you sound like a nerd, Chan still laughs it off since he’s a bit out of it because of the margarita that he downed about an hour ago. The alcohol really has to kick it right now, not before, not later, right-now.
Two minutes. Time is ticking. The decade is ending.
This is one of those moments where you wish time would just stop for a second because you’re already having too much on your mind yet too little time. The fact that Chan is looking at you with his dark brown eyes, full of liveliness and all, does not help to cope with the situation either.
He smiles sadly. “Y/N, I’m not coming back to Seoul until next year’s January.”
“I know,” You interrupts him awkwardly. “Woojin told me.”
“Do you want me not to—“
“Christ no ! Why would I ?”
God, how do people do this ? Do they just go for it ? No one told you that snatching yourself a kiss would be this hard. You really should have planned everything out first. “Chan, I—“ You blurt but mentally facepalm yourself not longer after. It’s not gonna work out anyway. “Whatever, I’ll just head back inside, it’s freezing out here.”
One minute. Only sixty seconds left.
Those words which left your lips ten seconds ago finally knock some sense into Chan and have his eyes twice as big as before when you suddenly walk away. He instinctively grabs your wrist and turns you around. Nothing seems to make sense anymore when all you feel is Chan’s hand holding onto your waist as if you’re gonna disintegrate into dust the moment he lets you go. His other hand gently caresses your chin and quickly decreases the gap between your lips.
Shivers bubble up on your skin as Chan’s mouth repeatedly brushes against yours, backing you up against the wall. All you can do to deal with the mess running through your mind at the speed of light is to lay your palms onto his firm chest for dear life. The feeling of his soft lips makes you feel like you’ve just spent the whole night by the bar where Minho is mixing up some sketchy looking drinks with you chugging from one glass to another without hesitation. Undeniably intoxicating.
Chan smiles into the kiss when you suddenly grab a fistful of his tie to pull him in closer, deepening you both into the downward spiral full of tenderness and devotion. Although he’s not your first kiss but Chan will definitely be on your mind all day all night for the next few weeks because this kiss is the kind of kiss that leaves you a bit lightheaded but can put a dumb, lovestruck smile on your face anytime.
A small ‘clank’ occurs out of nowhere, making you two flinch. When you break away from the kiss, Jisung is standing there in front of the glass door dumbfoundedly with a can of Coke lying on the concrete floor. “Uhm- sorry. I didn’t know that the rooftop is already taken.” He coughs awkwardly and picks up the red aluminum can.
Woojin isn’t allowing a single drop of alcohol inside his body since he’s the chosen one tonight to drive everyone home after when they all get shitfaced. “Just so you guys know… we’re having cake. It’s— it’s confetti by the way Y/N, your favorite. So.. uhm yeah.. come back whenever you guys are ready— we’ll just— just wait haha, okay bye.”
And that is how Han Jisung learnt how to run. As if he’s Usain Bolt before Usain Bolt was even Usain Bolt. You’ve never seen him running away from something so fast before. He’s not gonna get a good sleep tonight, that’s for sure.
“So…” Chan drawls and you love how his cheeks are still tinted pink, his cool breath fanning your forehead. Fireworks are crackling and whistling in the background, painting the sky with different shades of glitter. Like an explosion of paint on a black canvas but you can’t care less when you already have him by your side like this. Talking about kicking off the New Year by kissing your ex-crush, how drama material.
“Do you still want my number or nah ?”
You almost scoff at him. “I believe that’s not how CB97 get all the girls.”
Chan grunt softly before pulling you into his embrace, nuzzling his nose into your hair. “Ugh, don’t even remind me. I’ve been clowned enough for ‘Wow’ already.” And you just stand there with your hands clasped onto his back, letting every single word, every single moment sink into you like you’re rewatching an old movie. That’s also when you realize that, you just got yourself a New Year’s kiss.
“I’ll miss you, Chan.” You whisper into his ear, teary-eyed.
“Well, you know what they say : Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” He replies like the exceptional composer that he is, holding onto you firmly. Just firmly enough because he wants to hold you like you’re a single snowflake, threatening to disappear if he accidentally squeezes too tightly, but will easily slip away if he doesn’t hold you back. Chan might not know what the future has in store for him but he knows that everything will turn out just fine as long as you’re right here, in his embrace.
Nothing matters when he has both of his hands clenched and remains still in your heart.

shrek | take care :pp I hate you.
quokka | I’ll give you half of my salary when I get back so please don’t kill me for dropping your favorite mug =)))
Another thing school has yet succeeded in teaching you : how to not be late to literally every single important moment in your goddamn life.
It’s barely forty-five minutes before the flight and you’re THIS close to having a mental breakdown because Chan is actually horrible. Yeah, you kissed him three hours ago and he’s just gonna repay you by booking a flight at three in the morning ? His friends aren’t the best either, really. If Jisung didn’t text you on when you’re brushing your teeth then you would have curled up in your blanket and dozed off.
2020 just arrived and everyone’s already gone wild with their schedules for trips and vacations. Even from the inside of your car, you can still hear people cursing at one another from across the street and be able to bathe in the smell of smoke and gasoline shit. You scrunch your nose at the particular ways someone people prefer to park their cars and carefully park yours neatly in the corner. It’s definitely gonna take some time when you go back to get your car.
Just when you frantically grab your keys and phone your purse before stepping out of the vehicle, you quickly realize that there’s absolutely no need for you to show up. Chan didn’t ask for it, Jisung and Changbin didn’t even ask for it, they just simply wanted to ‘notify’ you about their departure. But there’s still something that’s stirring inside your stomach, which makes it even harder to concentrate while driving.
So you’re determined to find out what that is before he leaves.
And that is also why you’ve chosen to push yourself through the sweaty lines of people queuing up for security, luggage check-in, shopping, and other boring paperwork. Everyone is obviously a bit ticked off since business in airport is slower than a sloth when it comes to holidays. If you were them, you would have just taken a nap on one of the spare benches while waiting for your flight. But the problem is : there’s no empty seats. There are literal people using their jackets as a mattress to sleep on the floor that janitors clean up one two many times with bleach. How tragic.
Besides, it’s been forever since you’ve come to the airport and now you feel like a fucking caveman, just watching the bustling, noisy life passing by with wide eyes. Meaning, you have no fucking idea where their gate is, but you do know that if you’re stubborn enough to have a five-minute staring contest with the map, you’ll figure it out. Hopefully.
After ten minutes of struggling with the map in your hands that’s getting kind of damped from your sweaty palms, you eventually spend another five minutes to race yourself through the packed airport to get to Gate 9 before the plane takes off.
You feel like you really should treat yourself afterwards since running through the airport brings you back to the marathon competition in middle school, the only difference is that it’s ten times more exhausting and time consuming. Changbin better gives you what ever the fuck of a healthy juice and aloe vera sheetmasks that he stores in packs of four inside his carry-on because you’re 80% sure that you look like a strip beef jerky that’s been staying in the oven for way too long.
[ 3:40a.m. ]
y/n | where tf are you guys ?
Just when you finish texting Changbin, you spot Chan in front of a vending machine, struggling with a wallet, and three other water bottles in his arms. And you start pondering how people still think that God is fair and rightful. How is he so fair when he can make Chan look like a freaking celebrity in a simple white dress shirt with black jeans while you’re looking like a raccoon in your denim jacket and leggings ? How is he so rightful when all it takes Chan is one single glance to send your heartbeat over the edges ? But whatever, fuck that. You’re just gonna be slightly salty about Chan looking better than you all the time. Slightly, that is.
Nonetheless, he makes you smile like no other. “Chan !” You call out his name like a maniac, running towards him with no hesitation. Because he’s it, he’s your endgame, and you want to know what it feels like to hold him for the last time before he’s gonna be seven thousand miles away from you for a good three hundred and sixty-five days.
Chan widens his eyes out of surprise when you crash yourself into his embrace, knocking the water bottles onto the tiled floor along with his wallet. Though, he soon regains conscious when his nostrils are filled with your scent, his arms shaking around your waist like second nature. He suddenly smiles brightly, and genuinely in a fairly long time. That alone is enough to prove that you’re the only one who’s capable of making him feel loved.
Chan buries his face into the crook of your neck. “Are you here to ask for my number ?”
“Right, that.” Your mouth forms an ‘o’ in realization. “And.. and… I- I love you, okay ?”
The grin on his face just can’t get any wider now or else his mouth is gonna crack and bleed tremendously. “What was that ?”
“I’m not saying that twice !”
“No, tell me !”
Truthfully, love isn’t just about the horrifying commitment or the metal band wrapped around your ring finger. Love is the persistency in accompanying, offering a shoulder for someone to lean on, so they can be free from reframing themselves in order to not be frowned upon by society. Meaning, they can let go of their pride during hard times, just bursting into tears like a child. The burden is shared and lifted slightly from their shoulders and that’s how love adds a bit of sweetness into reality.
In fact, movies are realistically based on real life, it’s just that everything’s filtered to be picture perfect because humans only see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear. In reality, there’s no certainty that someone will be there to pick you up nor life will leave you alone when you’ve had enough. You won’t even have the slightest chance to look upon the sky and let your tears pour back into your heart, crying is impossible. No, actually, the world is nice, but reality is disastrous so it is your birthright to be terrified of the smallest things. May time be against you, may reality kick you to the curb, may the whole world have their backs turn onto you, you can still hold onto a fragile beam of hope that the entire universe is on your side because you couldn’t have asked for a better person to walk into your life than Chan.
And to him, you’re gonna worth every mile between you both.

Heart Stop: Runner’s High (1)
A/N: New series because I really like writing series now? Yes. This was supposed to be on Wattpad only but a few moots requested for it to be on here and It makes me happy thinking you guys are going to read so thank you <3
Word Count: 1.6k (Like I said.. meant for Wattpad kdfjskdfsk)
Heart-stop: A condition known to two lovers once they have met their one true soulmate and will look no further.
“You’re acting up again Chris, stop it” You gritted your teeth, hands bunching up the ends of your dress to keep your sanity together.
“Who are you talking to?” Hyunjin asks, looking at you and proceeding to eat his sandwich.
“My heart, it’s doing that stupid thing again” He gasps mid-bite into his sandwich surprisingly, jumping up on his feet and frantically pulling out your heart rate monitor from your backpack.
“SHIT ITS A HEART ATTACK” Hyunjin shrieks, pulling the monitor closer to you and you pull back. “No, no Hyunjin it’s fine it’s just-”
“SHUT UP YOU'RE HAVING A HEART ATTACK” When he clasps the wristwatch around your wrist you roll your eyes. You should have never told Hyunjin about your condition.
“Y/N I swear to god your mom said if you feel anything weird I have to check-” A beep comes from your wrist and you watch Hyunjin as his fearful expression disappears. “Oh, you’re just fine” He says, collapsing down next to you and clutching his hand to his chest. “Thank god, I got seriously worried”
“Hyunjin, you’re such a drama queen. Chris and I are used to it at this point- don’t worry”
“Why did you name it Chris anyways?”
You scoff at his question, “Are you not aware of the hottest most amazing most talented most beautiful most sexiest Australian on this planet?”
Hyunjin smirks at you as a pack of swimmers run by, raising his eyebrows at the tall blonde as the boy laughs with his group of friends. “Is it Ch-”
“Chris Hemsworth, duh Hyunjin” You say, completely ignoring his gestures and picking up his sandwich.
“You’re not going to eat that are you?” Hyunjin says as you dust off the part of the bread that touched the ground.
“I made this sandwich for you, I deserve it” You smile, watching as Hyunjin looks at you in disgust.
“Ugh, your behavior sometimes y/n”

MJ’s university was one of the most top ranking universities in all of Korea. It held high standings in all sports and academics as well as in music. At first, you wanted to go to school with your best friends Seungmin and Jeongin but after MJ gave you a full scholarship to join the school your mother forced you to.
Luckily Hwang Hyunjin was in the same shoes as you were, his dancing abilities were top-notch, winning awards and recognition. But that was never what he wanted, to grow popular and famous. He just wanted to be an ordinary student, so he hung out with normal people- like you. At least that’s the way you saw it.
“You’re not going to the swim meet today?” Hyunjin asked, throwing an arm around your shoulder as you walked off the Campus’s entrance. “You know I don’t go to those things, it’s mafia night with the boys again. Are you coming?”
Hyunjin clicked his tongue before responding, “I can’t make it, but beware of Felix. He’s tricky”
You laugh to yourself remembering the last time you guys played, Felix cheated during the entire game and knew everyone’s roles.
“Alright, have fun watching men pretend to be fishes” You wave off, Hyunjin waving in response before a large group of girls holding posters and wolf plushies could come swarming in.
“BANG CHAN BEST LEADER” They all chanted, running past you and causing you to drop your books. Your jaw dropped in silence as papers flew out from between pages, your notes now scattered on the cement floor.
“Bang chan best leader” you mocked in a girl-like tone, picking up your books and fixing the notes before one paper could fly away.
You looked up to catch the paper as it flew past the wind, the sun blinding your view as the paper leaves your sight only to be caught by a tall figure.
“That’s right, ‘Bang Chan best leader’” He said, handing the paper into your hands.
“O-oh, thank you” You stuttered, taking the papers from his hand. Without a response, he simply left you sitting on the concrete ground, your knees starting to ache. Brown hair, squirrel-like features. He was cute. You wanted to follow him inside.
But mafia. :(
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Twenty-two years of hard work and practice made what the teenager (basically Stays) would call “Best Leader Bang Chan”. He was the captain of MJ University’s swim team and also a member of a company taking swimmers to the Olympics.
“C’mon man, you got it mann” Jisung said sarcastically, trying to cheer his friend up as he slumped against the lockers.
“Who are these amateurs Jisung? Don’t they know I’m going to win anyways?” Chan said, scrolling through his phone.
Jisung threw out a hand for Bang Chan to get up, “But they want to see you win, just do it Chan” Bang Chan threw on a pout before his mother could come in, “C’mon Chan” She rushed in, throwing him his swimsuit that was on the ground. “Get ready!”
Jisung eyed Chan as he walked over to get changed, hoping that Chan would be in a good mood for the rest of the day considering he practiced during lunch.
When he came out Jisung reached out to Chan as he walked by. “Good luck hyung”
Chan walked out of the lockers, tossing a towel across his shoulder as his mom followed beside him.
“Remember Chan. The scouts for Olympics are here today”
Chan rolled his eyes as he opened the doors to the crowded natatorium.
“Welcome to the MJ University’s April Compo! We have a dashing line this afternoon” Girls cheered from left and right as Chan’s mom grabbed him by his ear, pulling him closer to her lips. “Ignore me one more time and I won’t let it pass. The scouts are watching you” She whispered harshly before letting go.
Chan eyed the two men in suits, full attention on the line of swimmers as he joined them in his spot.
“And there's our favorite Bang Chan!” The announcer called as Chan got up to his diving board.
Suddenly his goggles came on and he was face down looking at the water. What was this feeling he was supposed to have? The crowd is screaming, the countdown is ticking, and the timer is just about to start.
Chan stares plainly at the water, unamused, uninvited. Why couldn’t he feel the adrenaline that many others recall when they are in his position? Why can’t he feel the excitement, exhilaration, and euphoria when he stands-- the runner’s high? Has swimming become so accustomed that he cannot feel anymore?
A loud buzz is heard before Chan dives into the water. He doesn’t like the coldness and the taste of chlorine yet he strives through each movement, his body moving fluidly through the water ahead of him.
The underwater feels so normal that he doesn’t even have to take a breath, his heart continues to beat normally and his pressure is completely fine. He touches the wall before any of his competitors can.
“And that sets a new record for Bang Chan! Congratulations!”

“Are you okay?!” Jeongin asks, pulling you over to the couch and propping your legs up as you fists start to clench.
“J-Jeongin, the medicine!” Seungmin says, running over to the two of you with a glass of water and two tablets. You desperately grab for the pills and swallow them, your fist banging on your chest as if it would make it better.
It happened every time. It started with hiccups, then your knuckles would turn into a fist, and then your heart is contracting. It’s begging for help. It’s calling your attention and your mind is on overdrive trying to find ways to make it stop. Your thoughts flow to why this had to happen to you, a couple minutes of pain and you can’t form words until someone else could put the pieces together and give you the two magical tablets.
And rest.
It’s an ongoing cycle. Has been since you were six and you can’t help it. Doctors can’t treat it nor cure it. They can just give you pills to make it stop.
Sometimes you wish your heart could just stop all together.

“You lost the bet again!” Minho laughed, nudging Chan to the side before Jisung could join. “Now you have to listen to us hyung!”
Chan simply rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face as he looked back at the two guys. “Okay, which girl are you going to make me talk to for you this time?”
Jisung hugged the elder as he pointed in your direction. “Her..”
“Isn’t she your noona?” Minho chuckled, watching as you stepped past the entrance.
“Yeah, but only Chan can get her attention,” Jisung replied.
“Why’s that?” Minho asks, clearly not impressed.
You watched the ground as you clutched your notebooks to your chest, making way through the people in the hallway and just as you were about to pass him, Chan turned around.
“Cause I’m a nice guy” Chan started, brushing with fingers through his hair and showing off a dazzling smile, “who just has a lot of money”
Walking away from the two youngsters, Chan turned around in the midst of his steps as if to say ‘watch and learn’ before he could bump into someone.
“Oh, sorry” You said, looking up at the boy and walking around him.
Usually Chan wouldn't have to make a move. Even though the incident was unintentional, he simply couldn’t speak.
Turning around, his eyes glowed at your figure and suddenly the world revolved around you. He could feel the adrenaline. The euphoria. The ecstasy that no pool or cranky mother could make him feel.
“Hey- wait!” Bang Chan called after you in the midst of breaths, but you never responded.
What was this feeling?

masterlist PART 3
I gently pull away from Taemin’s cuddle to get up. He immediately rolls his whole body the other way, finding Kibum who is spooning Minho on the other side. Once again, I stare at all my best friends. This time they’re sleeping so soundly and this, for me, is enough to provide me comfort. However, I somehow feel sorry for getting them into this mess.
I adjust this one blanket for them to squeeze in.
I grab Minho’s cigarette pack and head to the roof of the building to wait for the sun to rise.
Once I’m sat on the dirty, dusty cement, I light a cigarette to my satisfaction.
I think of my parents. I don’t really believe in life after death but I genuinely hope they’re happy and together wherever they may be. I wish there was a way to let them know how much I miss them. Also, I really hope they don’t see how I’m doing right now because my dad would for sure beat me up.
“Hey, can I get a hit of that?” I hear someone say after a couple of minutes of my alone time.
I turn my head to look behind me. It’s Taemin. “Oh, hey.”
“That ‘hey’ doesn’t sound like you’re happy to see me,” he giggles. He takes the cigarette from my lips and then to his.
“A singer isn’t supposed to smoke, right?”
“Who says I’m a singer?”
I stare at him in confusion after I light myself another stick. “Spill it.”
“Nobody knows this. Well, except for Kibum Hyung since he’s all for social media and happened to find the article. Thanks for looking it up by the way,” he jokes. “About a month ago,” he starts. “Euisoo Hyung handed me the news that he handled my situation and proved to the media and to everybody that the rumors about me are wrong. I don’t know how he did it, I didn’t ask, but I’m just grateful. Not to mention relieved. He said that I can get back to work as soon as I’m ready. And I asked him to give me some time to think about it.”
“What? Taemin, what’s there to think about? This is your dream.”
“It was. I already lived it for six years and I couldn’t feel more honored and fortunate, but…” He hesitates.
“But what?”
He sighs. “I have a new dream. I realized that living a lowkey life made me happier, less pressured, especially with the person I love. I decided to go back to the original plan, which is to become a dancer. Not exactly a singer,” he says, tipping the cigarette butt out of his hands.
I watch his eyes twinkle under the upcoming sunrise sky. There is not a drop of doubt that he’s really sure about this. I always wondered how hard it was for him to recover from all the hate, and his fans cancelling on him. He didn’t really open up this deeply. Now, here he is, rising from the ashes.
“Last night, when I went out while Kibum Hyung rested, I talked to Euisoo Hyung again.”
“Really? And?”
“He told me that I’m going to have a meeting with the board of the directors about my choreography and songwriting career. Turns out there still is a reputation to ruin I just realized. So…”
“So what happened last night can’t happen again,” I finish his thought.
“Well, not everything that happened. There are some moments I want to make happen again.” He gives off a grin, trying not to giggle at his own flirty information.
“Wait, let’s get back to that part where you mentioned somebody you love. What’s that about exactly?” I join his kidding around.
Now he can’t hold his laugh.
We stare at each other for a while as the laughter fades. Slowly, he begins to lean into me to gently put his lips onto mine. Then carefully slides his tongue against mine as they start to dance together.
It feels different this time. It’s more tender and more passionate. It’s less wild but more gentle. Less lustful but more pleasant. Less exciting but more caring.
He pulls away. “Look, I know we’ve never talked about this. Us. I never brought it up because I want everything to stay the same and I don’t want to fuck it up.”
“Yeah, I know, me too. I like the way we are.” I smile brightly at him, involuntarily. I take a deep breath as I’ve decided to say what I’m about to say. “I love you though.”
Tears form in his eyes like they wanted to say the same thing to me. I watch them close as he starts kissing me again.
The sun has come up which marks the end of everything reckless and rebellious and the beginning of something prudent and responsible.
. . .
We wouldn’t see one another for months after that day. We lived separately for a bit to focus on our own lives, to be better.
But we did hang out from time to time, just not as often as we did before. Lucky for us, we had each other—we still do—to realize that it’s never too late to start over. It’s from each other where we learned that each of us is like a hundred-dollar bill. No matter how much we’re folded, crumpled, and stepped on, we never lost our value.
We never experienced what it was like to be living free as youngsters because our lives fucked us up so early. That’s also why we lived it in our late twenties. Although one certain thing we know is that we have no regrets, especially after we found each other.
It is now six years later and so much has changed. Our individual lives have never been better, and we’ve never been happier.
Taemin is now a well-known, well-esteemed singer turned choreographer and songwriter, working with famous pop groups and soloists. He would make a comeback once in a while as a singer but it doesn’t become his priority.
Four years ago, just a year after his career peak, Taemin showed Kibum’s secret sketched designs to a famous designer he worked with for some time for his comeback.
Long story short, Kibum finished fashion school where he was sponsored by that same designer, who also became his mentor. Later on, his social media following started growing and he would be interviewed and be featured by different magazine and publishing companies. He would work on his own clothing line little by little in collaboration with various famous fashion icons.
Minho served the military for two years after he ran away from his father, who patched things up with him recently. After his military service, he reunited with his former soccer coach in college and they trained day and night without taking any breaks at all. I would cook and prepare us a picnic, then the rest of us would visit him in the field. He would soon make the national team. And after being reserved in the bleachers for so long, just months ago, he was responsible for their team’s rare championship and is awarded as the Most Valuable Player this season. Now, Minho becomes one of the famous successful football players who peaked in their thirties.
. . .
As I’m tidying up for closing, I hear the bell ring as somebody enters my bakeshop. I turn around to see Taemin, who instantly puts a smile on my face.
“Hey, you,” he greets with a warm hug.
“Hi,” I say before placing a sweet kiss on his lips. “I’m almost ready. Hold on a second.”
After I check all the lights in the back rooms and am about to walk out the front door, all ready to go, I catch Taemin lost in thought. He admires the place, then looks at me. Staring at me with twinkle in his eyes.
“What wrong?” I ask.
“Nothing,” he shakes his head and loses eye contact. “I’m just so proud of you,” he says, trying not to smile so widely.
This was the same café where Kibum and I first had lunch. This was the place where our friendship grew. This was where the rest of our lives began. When I found out that they were selling it a year ago, I had no second thoughts and did everything to get it. And now, here we are.
“Yeah, well,” I grab both of his hands and sigh in serenity and bliss. “I am proud of us.”
He looks at the ground, cringing all of a sudden.
I wrap my hands around his neck to draw him closer, and kiss him tenderly, catching his tongue on mine.
He hums in pleasure. “Do we still have time?”
I pull away, laughing at him. “No, we don’t.”
He sulks and shows a childish sad face.
“Come on. We’re late to meet the guys.”
After a half an hour drive, we arrive at Kibum’s newly renovated, newly furnished house. Now’s only the first time we’re all visiting because he wanted it to be a surprise. When I finally recognized the place, it made me almost cry. Even though he changed almost all its features, it still brought back the memories we shared out here. It’s the place where we broke in six years ago, almost getting caught by the police.
While Taemin goes in through the front door to deliver the cake I baked and the champagne we brought, my impulse orders me to head to the backyard where the swimming pool was located.
I catch Minho out on the patio, grilling meat and sausages. I spy the rest of the area, and my sight lands on the swimming pool. Turns out it’s the only feature that hasn’t changed. Although, it’s way cleaner and way more gorgeous.
I can’t help but let the tears fall.
Minho finally sees me when he takes a sip of his beer. “Y/n, hey, you’re here!” He was about to welcome me with open arms but then he notices that I’m crying. “What’s wrong?”
My voice breaks. “I know it’s silly, but it’s just we had such memories here, and now we’re—” I can’t go on. I’m already weeping.
“Come here,” he hugs me anyway and places a peck on my forehead.
“Minho, what’s going on out there?” Kibum finally appears, Taemin following behind him holding four glasses in between his fingers and the bottle of champagne in his other hand..
“Nothing!” I say, holding back tears even though there’s no point.
“Oh, honey.” Kibum reaches out and wraps his arms around me. Taemin and Minho are behind me embracing each others’ hellos too.
So we have dinner at Kibum’s patio. Later on in the night, we all jump into the very swimming pool that I never thought I would see again. Back then, I thought I’d have to cherish every moment because I might not be able to live it again. But that moment happens again right now. And it will keep on happening.
We bond all night like we always have. Minho’s competitive rock-paper-scissors, Taemin’s harsh tickling, and Kibum’s savage comments. Although this time, we’re not fucked up adults anymore.
Once again, I propose a toast. “To fucking friendship.”
“To fucking friendship!”

Secretly
Mino/Song Minho Scenario
Tumblr media
Request: Hi!! I hope it’s okay with me requesting this as it’s based on a fanfic I’m writing and just want to see how it would play out and that requests are still open. Could I request a Mino headcanon or Winner headcanon with Mino secretly dating Jiyong’s older sister (just by a year) who’s also a Kpop idol, actress and fashion designer? Thank you.
you know what? the request made me inspired, I’m gonna make this a short story with my own interpretation instead! let’s see how it goes! :D  (note: I made the sister as the reader instead of an OC)
Tumblr media
Never once had you regretted starting a career as an actress. While you knew you also had a passion in fashion designing, and even went to college for it, acting was just another level. Experiencing a whole different life through acting, controlling your own emotions, it was a challenge and a fun experience in one package.
So instead of pursuing the career in fashion world, you decided to audition as an actress. It did not take you a long time to make your debut, because as much as you wanted to deny it, the power your little brother, Kwon Jiyong, has, was a huge impact. But, it was still your very own hardworking self that made you a rising star that you were known as.
After your latest drama hit, you were suddenly in much demand for reality shows, that your entertainment literally had to refuse a few of the offers. One of the show they accepted in particular, was to make you show off singing skills, just because again, you were related to G-Dragon. Hearing this, you hoped so badly that your brother would refuse the offer, with him being all busy, but much to your dismay, he accepted.
It wasn’t like you didn’t like your own brother, he was a very kind and caring person towards you in your whole life, but him in a recording studio? that was a whole different person. You had heard stories from his band members how strict and perfectionist he could be while recording. Once, Daesung had to repeat a part in their song fifteen times, before he decided it was the right one to put into the song. The horror in Daesung’s face when he told the story was still lingering in your head.
Jiyong being the extra guy he was, he decided it would be great to add a surprise element to the song, with a surprise feature from another YG artist. At that time, he was thinking of another male rapper. And also at that time, Mino from Winner was available.
That brought you to the current situation. You standing up in front of the mic, for what you could recall, almost an hour in time, and your brother on the other side of the room, frowning.
“Could you maybe, sing it again but this time, lower your voice a little bit?”
You wanted so badly to protest and start a fight with your sibling, but your eyes went to the man sitting next to him. Song Minho, you didn't know the guy that well. Heck, the only conversation you had had with him prior, was when you accidentally met him at an award show. Both of you only shook hands and said names, that was all. You couldn’t embarrass yourself in front of him by lashing out at your brother. Even though you were so hungry because your stupid self forgot to eat breakfast...
“You know I’m not a singer, right?” You tried to complain in a calm voice.
“I know, that’s why we have to have a good pre-recorded for you when we are on stage later.”
Sigh. That clearly did not work. What did you even expect? For the almighty G-Dragon to go easy on you just because you were his sister??? Pfffft.
“You~ the breath of fresh air, the—”
“Stop, stop.” Jiyong shook his head and began to instruct you the tone that he wanted. “The breath of fresh! You need to take the ‘fresh’ part to—”
“Ji,” You called, sounding a little bit like pleading.
“Hmm?”
*GROWL*
“Did you forget to eat breakfast again?”
If the ground could swallow people, you would be begging it to consume you whole. The sound of your stomach rumbling, in full speakers, while someone you barely know was also present inside the room. Your first initial move was to look at Mino’s reaction. He was looking away, but you could see his cheeks lifted, you know he had at least a grin on his face. He was clearly trying his best not to burst out laughing. Great, just great!
“Let’s just continue this tomorrow, I have to meet up with some management from Nike in a bit anyway.” GD said. “Minho-ssi, can you help me a little bit with the auto tune on verse one?”
“Ah, if you’d let me...” Mino replied, in an unsure tone. “Would that be okay?”
“Yeah, I trust you, I know what you can do.” Jiyong smirked. “And Y/N, make sure to eat, I don’t want you to get sick.” He said as he packed his stuff.
“Sure...” You said, still standing up frozen in front of the booth door. “Can I eat with you?”
“No, cause I’m gonna go right away, the place is quite far... Just eat downstairs, they serve good food, you know?” He smiled at you. “Bye!”
“Bye...” You sighed.
As Jiyong left, you were left feeling terribly awkward. Should you just leave? Should you say something? Was the sound of your empty stomach that bad? UGHHH!!!
When your eyes met, Mino immediately smiled at you, his eyes almost closed, he looked so cute. Wait, what?
“Y/N-ssi, have you tried eating in our cafeteria before?” He asked politely.
“Uh, actually I haven't...”
“If you don’t mind, I’m also a little bit hungry.” He smiled. “Do you want to eat together?”
“O-Of course!” You smiled awkwardly.
Here you thought you were great at controlling your emotions with your whole acting experience, one smile from Song Minho, now you were stuttering.
And that was how it began. A smile, a friendship, then feelings that blossomed through the way.
The show went amazingly well. It helped you with more exposure to your public, which of course meant, more offers, and in return, Jiyong and Mino got some royalties. Even though you had to stand through your brother’s perfectionism for quite some time, you also got to spend your lunch time afterwards with Mino, secretly.
That wasn’t the only thing that you both ended up doing secretly behind your brother’s back. You exchanged numbers and began texting with each other. You began to frequently visit YG, bringing your brother food and stuff, in camouflage to secretly meet someone.
After almost a year of doing many things secretly, both of you then began dating, yet again, secretly. Not only because both of you being in eyes of public and all, but there was one thing a little less if not same, scarier than public’s opinion... your brother.
There actually was not really a concrete reason for both of you to fear him acknowledging the relationship. Jiyong had never once scold you for dating despite of you being a public figure, nor had he once said that he disliked Mino. But the thought of him knowing that you, his older sister, dating his colleague who is younger than him, was just a little bit overwhelming.
Mino on the other hand was scared as Jiyong was someone he looked up to and respect. He didn’t want him to think that some younger and incompetent dude was messing around with his sister. He was afraid that if Jiyong were to ask him what could he offer to his sister, he could not answer. Compared to the well known G-Dragon, Mino felt like a grain of dust.
**
Both of you were happily cuddling on your couch, watching a movie together. You were comfortably resting your head on Mino’s shoulder, while his fingers played with your hair softly. It was a very chill and relaxing time for both of you, before the sound of your phone ringing suddenly came interrupting.
“It’s my brother, he’s outside...” You said, eyes widened in shock.
“WHAT?!” Mino jerked up. “Should I hide???”
“In my bedroom, quick!”
You opened your front door, hoping Jiyong wouldn’t notice the nervousness in your voice. “Ji! Why didn’t you tell me first before coming?”
“What? I’m always like this what do you mean?” He lifted one of his eyebrows, looking at you. “Oh, you were watching Mulan?” He asked as walked and saw your TV.
“Y-Yeah!”
“Is it good?” He said as he sat down on the sofa, taking one of the popcorn on the table.
“Nah, it was shit!” You laughed. “It doesn’t matter though, I don’t mind watching bad movies as long as I have good company...” You widened your eyes as you realized what you had said.
“You had company?”
“No! I mean, I always say that to you! Unlucky me, just when I decided to watch alone the movie turns out to be awful, huh?” You laughed nervously.
“Hmm.” Your brother crossed his legs, he seemed unsure with your answer.
“Why are you here anyway? My break time is very precious, you know? I’d love to spend it wisely.”
“Oh, yeah that.” Jiyong put his index finger up as he remembered something and opened his backpack. “You remembered my friend who is a model? The guy we met two weeks ago?”
“Ahn Seojun?”
“Yeah, him.” He said as he took out a box of chocolate with a black ribbon on top of it. “He was overseas and he recalled you saying that you like this chocolate.”
“Uh... Tell him I said thanks, I guess?” You said, eyeing your brother weirdly. “That was nice of him, in fact, way too nice?”
“Maybe he likes you.” Jiyong casually shrugs.
“Yeah... he’s nice and all, but I’m not interested.” You chuckled.
“You are single anyway, why not?”
“Uh, I’m still not interested...”
“Or are you not?” Jiyong looked at you sternly.
“What?”
“Come to think of it, you used to talk about so many crushes to me... Ugh, you even used to have a crush on TOP hyung!” He laughed.
“Well, maybe I grew up! Besides, crushes are just crushes, I never had any deep feelings towards them! Unless you think I could develop feelings towards Chris Evans???”
“You must be in love now...” He broke into an evil grin. “Come on, who’s the guy?”
“Okay, you’re not making any sense here, if that’s all, then you should go home. I want to continue spend my break without my brother pestering about my love life.”
“Alright, alright! Geez! No need to get so defensive...” He rolled his eyes. “So, you sure you are single?”
You cleared you throat. “Uh uh.”
“Then, if Seojun asked for your number, should I give it?”
“What?! I thought we are over this???”
“Yah, Mino-ssi!!! Come on out!” Jiyong suddenly yelled out with a huge grin still plastered on his face.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
“If you don’t show yourself now, I’m going to tell the producers to postpone your solo album!” He said, almost singing. He definitely was enjoying this way too much.
A few seconds later, you heard your bedroom door opening and closing very quickly. Mino stood in front of your bedroom for a while before walking up towards both of you. His eyes was looking down to his feet the entire time.
“There you go!” Jiyong clapped. “So, tell me again, my beautiful sister, you sure you are single?”
“Ji, if you’re going to scold us, then please scold me as I—”
“Whoa! Who said I’m gonna what?! I’m just mad you never told me!”
“Wait, so you’re okay with this?” You said, pointing back and forth to both yourself and your boyfriend.
“Of course I am! Who am I to tell you what to do anyway?” He folded his arms. “Besides, this guy...”
“Y-Ye?” Mino jerked his head up, almost like he was in military.
“He’s a good guy, as far as I know.” He smiled and patted Mino’s shoulder. “Calm down, your solo album is safe!”
“Ah... yeah, thank you very much, hyung-nim...” Mino bowed.
“Yah, yah, put your head up! Geez, you do know you’re dating my older sister. right? Technically, you’re in higher position than me now.” He laughed.
“I promise I’ll never hurt her!” Mino suddenly said out loud.
“Shut up...” You nudged your boyfriend, blushing.
“Alright, I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone now.” Jiyong said, looking very amused. “Next time, if you’re planning on hiding your boyfriend, make sure his brand new released adidas shoes ain’t in your shoe rack first.”
“Dammit!” You cursed.
“Oh come on, I’ve known since you started visiting me so frequently in YG! This is just a lucky coincidence.” He said as he grabbed his bag and walked towards the front door. “I’ll see both of ya later!”
“Go away! Stop interrupting me!” You stuck your tongue out playfully.
“Yeah, yeah.” He laughed. “Mino-ssi,” Jiyong stopped and nodded at him before finally closing the door behind.
Mino nodded back, but you could tell he was really nervous as little beads of sweat was visible under his bangs.
“Phew!” You shouted as you threw yourself on the couch. “That went well, huh?”
“Y-Yeah...” Mino said, sitting down next to you.
“See? You have nothing to worry about!” You took his left hand, still laying down beside him.
“Still, who am I compared to your brother?”
“Mino,” You said as you repositioned yourself to rest your head on his lap. “I don’t care about neither your money or fame, you’re you. You’re the best person I’ve ever met in my entire life, and you dare ask who you are?”
“Okay, that was cheesy, I totally wasn’t prepared for that...” The guy laughed but his cheeks were reddened.
“Shut up! Said the guy who was practically yelling to my brother, saying he’d never hurt me, like he was in Japanese drama or something.” You giggled.
“Hey, missy, how about you shut up before I kiss you.” Mino grinned, now face only inches away from you.
“In that case, I would never shut my mouth then...” You smiled as you close the gap in between.

Your Dance
Pairing: Hyunjin x Reader
Word Count: 8k
Genre: Fluff
Summary: Hyunjin doesn’t want to be seen as a shallow, good-looking man, but a hard-working dancer. It’s an ideal goal that he becomes obsess with a bit too much.
Tumblr media
“Me?” Hyunjin points at himself.
You and the nine members are in a conference room, talking to the producers. While Hyunjin looks surprised, you look excited, jumping up and down from your seat, waiting for his reaction that he has his very own performance. This is a great opportunity for Hyunjin to show off his dancing capabilities. It was difficult giving any members from Stray Kids an opportunity to show off their skills outside the band, so this is perfect to start the year.
“Mm-hmm! You’ll also be sharing a stage with another idol, but you’ll still have your solo dance.” The producer restates.
Despite everyone else’s excitement, Hyunjin doesn’t seem to be sharing the same emotion. His eye twitches, looking down at his folded hands on the table. “But…shouldn’t Felix or Minho-hyung get the chance? I mean, they’re good at dancing too. I still have a lot to learn.”
You understand the frustration and unfairness for Minho, Felix, or any of the other members who aren’t given the chance to show off their talent, but as much as you tried to fight for that suggestion, the producer was stubborn, insistent on Hyunjin only. Not wanting this chance to go away, you had no choice but to accept it.
Hyunjin looks around at the other members, unsure of how he should feel about this. Of course, he’s appreciative of having a solo performance, but to have this before the other members is a little unfair. Seeing how painfully obvious Hyunjin is, Chan stands up, approaching him from behind and wraps his arm around his neck.
“Don’t look so bitter! Our manager fought hard for this! Even if it’s just you, I’m sure we’ll all get the chance.”
Hyunjin nods his head slightly, relieved that, so far, Chan is alright with it. He looks around, waiting for the other members to say something.
“It’s alright. You’re definitely a better dancer than me.” Seungmin comments.
“If they want you, then it’s you.” Minho plays on his phone.
“You worked the hardest among us dancers, so it’s fine.” Felix cheerfully replies.
The other members seem to agree as well. It takes some weight off of his shoulders, but it still isn’t enough for him to be content with this chance. You thought that he was going to be just as excited as you were, if not, more.
Changbin catches on the atmosphere that you’re giving off. “Hey! Hyunjin, at least say thank you to our manager. She fought hard to get you this spot.”
“I-it’s okay! I'm just doing my job...”
You could see the guilt in his eyes, so you attempt to give him assurance to celebrate. However, it doesn’t work for him since he seemed bothered by it. Not realizing the guilt that Changbin put on him, Jisung elbows him.
“Ow! What the—”
Jisung flicks his head to Hyunjin, and Changbin finally reads the mood, looking down with an apologetic expression. But the damage has already been done, and Hyunjin raises his head up.
“Okay, I’ll do my best for this performance.”
You aren’t sure whether he’s declaring that out of his own accord or if it’s because he doesn’t want to drag everybody’s mood down. Whatever the reason, Hyunjin seems to fully accept the role he’s been given, but something about his acceptance feels as though he did out of guilt.
==========
Once the conference ended, you go your separate ways from the boys. The older members plus Jeongin are heading to the gym and Jisung walks to their music studio. The other members are going to the dance practice room. As everybody heads their own way, Hyunjin chooses to follow you from behind.
You’re in the lobby, making yourself a cup of coffee as he peers his head from the corner of the room. He hides behind the wall, twiddling with his thumbs and bites his bottom lip. He clearly wants to say something to you, but he’s too timid to push through with it. He closes his eyes, exhaling heavily before stepping out of the shadows and appearing himself before you.
“(Y/N), I—”
But his sudden presence scares you, causing you to jump as you were inches away from the corner. You spill hot coffee all over your blouse and hand, the boiling temperatures sizzling over your knuckles. The brown liquid seeps through your white shirt, making your white tank top visible.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!! Hyunjin scurries around the room, panicking as his head goes all sorts of directions.
His frantic shouting causes a scene, the employees nearby staring and whispering in each other’s ears. He rips some paper towels and pats down your shirt.
You laugh, pushing his hand away gently. “I’m fine.”
But your assurance doesn’t ease him. “But…”
“It’s a little hot, but nothing that I can’t handle.”
He sulks, looking down at your red hand. He holds it tenderly, rubbing his thumb over your burn mark, causing you to flinch slightly. However, you pretend that you didn’t feel anything.
“See? Nothing,” you force a smile. “Anyway, was there something you wanted to talk about?”
But his pout doesn’t go away. It isn’t like he’s upset at you, but at himself for harming you. He shakes his head, stepping away from you. “No, I’m sorry for not watching where I was going.”
“It’s not your fault. I wasn’t watching either,”  to lighten the mood, you elbow him in the ribs. “ Don’t worry about me and go ahead and practice with the rest of the guys.”
“R-right…” And without another word, he strides off.
You stare at his back, wondering what all that was. However, you go back to making another cup of coffee, your hand still burning a little.
==========
He bangs his head on the wall repeatedly. He can’t believe that he failed to do something as simple as talking to you. He’s able to do so under normal circumstance, but today he just can’t. Thinking about the solo dance is eating up in him, and he hasn’t even started rehearsals yet.
From the other side of the hall, he sees the other staffs who were also in the room. One of them is the producer of the upcoming awards ceremony, and the other is his secretary.
“Don’t worry so much about the event itself, Miss Kim.”
“I know but…will he be able to bring in more views?”
They continue their conversation, and Hyunjin can’t help but overhear.
“Their manager was really persistent on giving those boys more publicity, but they’ve already had more for your average rookie group. Honestly, she’s a little annoying.”
Hyunjin was about to step forward, knowing that they’re talking about you.
“Hey, be quiet.”
But Hyunjin stops.
“I don’t have to be afraid! She’s a manager, alright, but she should still know her position.”
“It’s fine. He’s an idol from JYP, after all. He’s a popular boy with pretty decent-looking visuals. Just put him in tight clothing and have him do some raunchy dance and the crowd will go wild, I guarantee it.”
As they walk off, Hyunjin leans on the wall, disturbed by the producer’s comment. Even though he’s wearing two shirts underneath, he feels like his skin is exposed, insects crawling up his skin, so he buttons the top. That statement alone brings back unwanted memories of when he was a trainee.
“You’re fit to become an idol. Look at yourself, you’re hot!”
“If he was going to be in the band anyway, then why bother with training?”
“He can easily cheat his way to the top with those looks.”
He holds onto his arm, scurrying away to the practice room. Those voices from the past return to haunt him.
==========
With their comeback drawing near, the boys have been working nonstop. This period is the most crucial in maintaining clear skin and their weight, meaning that they have to be extremely careful with what they eat. You dislike this phase the most since it hurts seeing them refuse to eat. It’s during times like these that you can’t help but slip in some tasty food for them to eat every so often.
You walk down the halls with three grocery bags, heading to their dance studio. Even though you’re feet away from their room, the blasts of their title song makes even the floor shake. When it’s this loud, you know they’re immersed in their practice.
You open the door, peering inside to see them dancing in unison. Most of them have their face masks on, drenched in sweat, and focused on their reflections. Normally, you would wave at them, but not wanting to break them from their trance, you tiptoe to the corner of the room. Nobody else is in the room but them.
Once the music ends, the nine of them sigh at the same time, some falling to the ground due to exhaustion. As they catch their breaths, you sit on the ground, organizing the food that you bought. Chan is the first to jog to you, his mouth watering from the sight of food.
You open the meal to reveal styrofoam packages of steamed vegetables, kimchi, brown rice, seaweed, and steamed chicken. You tried your best to find the most fulfilling meal for them, so this was the best that you could do. They don’t seem to complain, since they’ve been starving the entire day. Anything looks delicious to them.
Felix takes a seat next to you, leaving no space in between. “Wow, thank you so much, Manager!”
“I know you guys should be dieting…but I promise that after your comeback, I’ll buy ramen!”
“This is already enough.” Woojin states, taking off his face mask, revealing a little stubby beard.
As you pass the food around for them to take, Felix notices white bandages over your hand. “What happened to your hand?! Are you okay??”
Hyunjin overhears this and turns his head. You glance at him before going back to Felix in a millisecond. “Yea, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“Did you get into a fight?” Jeongin asks while stuffing food in his mouth.
You laugh, shaking your head. “Look at me and tell me if I look like I can get into a fight. Of course I didn’t. I was being clumsy and ended up burning my hand with coffee.”
That reminder makes Hyunjin raise his shoulders up.
“Geez, you gotta be more careful. Who’s gonna take care of us if you’re not there?” Changbin whines. “These pigs don’t know how to take care of themselves.”
“You’re not much different…if anything, worse.” Seungmin mumbles.
“What did you say?!” Changbin raises his voice, about to grab him by the collar of his shirt.
“Please, no fighting! The bandages make it look dramatic, but it barely did anything to me. It was just the easiest to use to avoid getting dust on my ointment.”
“Tell us if it hurts. If it does, then let me kiss the pain away.” Minho flirts, to which it makes you chuckle.
Everybody sits in a circle, passing paper plates around to begin their dinner, having a great bonding moment. Well…almost everyone except for one person. Hyunjin is by himself, staring at himself in the mirror as he rehearses his dance for his solo performance.
“Hyunjin, come eat.” You wave your hand.
“It’s okay, I’ll eat after I practice some more.”
“It’s alright to take a break…you should eat to get some of your strength back.”
But he shakes his head. “Thanks, but I’m okay.” He doesn’t look away from his reflection.
Even though he says that, it doesn’t calm your nerves. Whenever it comes to dance, he always gets like this. If no one is there to stop him, he would probably keep dancing until he’s broken all his bones.
Chan pats you on the shoulder. “Don’t worry. He gets like this in the beginning, but I’m sure he’ll come around.”
You gaze at Hyunjin, practicing as if none of you are in the room. He already learned the dance to his solo, it’s the minor details that he’s working on, like his facial expressions and the movements of his fingers.
“Okay…just make sure you don’t overwork yourself.” You pass out the chopsticks but not letting your eyes off of him.
“Yup.”
==========
Time has flown by, and everybody has finished practicing for the day. When they finished eating, you cleaned up the trash and decided to stay and watch them. They end at one in the morning, ready to return to their dorms and finish the day.
They grab their bags from the counter, checking their phones while you grab water for them. They thank you, taking the bottles and gulping it down. You do a head count, and there’s one more water bottle in your hand. Dancing across the other side of the room is Hyunjin, still practicing.
You walk toward him, standing in between him and the mirror. “Hyunjin, it’s time to go. The van is waiting.”
He blinks profusely, standing stiffly. “Oh, is it time already?” He glances at the clock on the wall. “…It’s okay. I just need to practice a little longer.”
But his persistence is beginning to bother you. You understand that he wants to make sure that every step is near perfect, but not at the expense of his health.
“No, you really need to get some sleep. You have a recording to go to early in the morning.”
“Just a little longer.”
He steps aside from you, but you get in his way again. If he’s being stubborn, then you’ll be persistent.
“You have a long time before the performance. Just get some sleep. Otherwise, it’s going to bite you back.” This time, your voice has gotten lower and more serious.
Still, Hyunjin remains adamant on training. “What’s wrong with practicing just a little longer?” He sounds slightly annoyed.
Seeing how the shift in tone is becoming less light-hearted, the other members don’t know what to do. This is not the first time you and Hyunjin got into disagreements, but it’s not common either, at least, not common enough for the members to know what to do when situations like these.
Chan is the first to do something, holding you by the wrist and dragging you to the side. “It’s okay, let him practice more. I know how it feels like when you’re not satisfied with today’s outcome.”
You look at Hyunjin, but he doesn’t look at you. He goes back to dancing, the anxiousness crawling up his skin if he doesn’t hurry back. You don’t like this, but you have no choice but to abide by Hyunjin’s request. Although you worry about their health constantly, you’ll probably never know the amount of passion they have for performing.
“Okay…okay, but if I see you go overboard, then I’m gonna have to put a stop to it.”
“Thank you.” Hyunjin replies.
It doesn’t feel satisfying letting him continue. That’s when an idea pops up in your head.
“But in exchange…”
“Hm?”
“Let me stay up with you.”
“What?!”
“I’m going to make sure that you don’t overwork your body again.”
There have been multiple times when Hyunjin trained overnight with very little sleep. He isn’t the only member either, since the other members have done it as well, but your instincts tell you that he’ll go overboard with this solo.
Chan is about to refute, but seeing the determination in your eyes, he holds back. He knows not to do anything when you get like this.
“Just go home! You already have to deal with us for the whole day. Get some rest.”
“I can say the same to you.”
Hyunjin opens his mouth to retaliate, but he can’t retaliate because you’re not wrong. Now that you’re putting your health at risk, he’s hesitant about staying up. However, his obsession with practicing is overriding his concerns for you, so he gives in to your deal.
“Okay, but make sure you eat. Don’t stay up too late and if you’re tired, don’t fight your sleepiness. If the floor is uncomfortable, then I’ll take one of the sleeping bags in the equipment room and give it to you. If you want me to dim the lights, then let me know. If you’re feeling cold or hot, then tell me so that I can—”
“I think she gets it.” Woojin laughs.
Hyunjin is conscious of what he was saying and blushes, accidentally letting his soft side slip out. “Okay, if you need anything, then don’t be afraid to ask me.”
He’s practically saying everything that you were going to tell him. You exhale through your nostrils, letting him get away with it. He already knows what you were going to say and said it before you got the chance.
With that situation dealt with, you turn around and look at the rest of the members. “You guys can get back safely, right?”
“Of course! Who do you think we are?” Changbin asks with sarcastic annoyance. “We can take care of ourselves.” He claims with confidence, even though just earlier he said that they were going to be hopeless without you.
“Okay! Then I’ll see you guys tomorrow. I’m not gonna wake you guys up this time.” You tease.
The boys leave the room, saying their farewells to you and Hyunjin. While you’re smiling and waving goodbye, Hyunjin waves his hand with a serious expression. Whenever you see his face, you can’t help but think that he sees you as bothersome.
==========
In the dimly-lit dance studio, you lean against the wall, shoulder pressed against the counter as you watch Hyunjin rehearse the same dance over and over again. You’re sitting in a fetal position, curled up into a ball with a clipboard on your lap.
Other than the song blasting with surround-sound stereos, Hyunjin’s rhythmic stomping echoes throughout the room. Every so often, you would look down at your papers, looking through their schedules and reading contracts in getting them involved with variety shows once it’s their comeback phase. You have a thick stack of it on your lap, rubbing your eyes after reading every paragraph, and this is something that Hyunjin catches notice of.
Taking a break from reading, you stretch your arms, yawning as you check the time on your phone. It’s almost four in the morning, and you’re amazed that you managed to stay up this late. This isn’t the first time you had to stay up since there have been crazier times when you and the boys got through the night due to scheduling and traveling abroad. You glance at Hyunjin, and he does not look tired whatsoever. He’s no different now than he was earlier in the day, no ounce of exhaustion. Sometimes, it makes you question if he’s even human.
His eyes dart to you in the mirror, making a brief eye contact before he turns away, his cheeks turning red. You aren’t sure why he’s so shy all of a sudden. Even though he tries to hide his face, you can see his ears turning as red as a tomato, but you assume that it must be because his face is heating up from the excessive workout.
When he turns off the music, you take this cue to make a conversation. “Are you tired?”
He shakes his head. “I still have a few more things to cover.”
As per usual, he isn’t giving up so easily. The song that he’s covering is entirely in English—a song from the United States. Pop music from that country has been gaining popularity these days, so it’s not a surprise that this is the song chosen for him. What’s more interesting is that he even sang the cover himself.
Out of nowhere, your nose feels ticklish, and you sneeze. This makes Hyunjin jolt, turning his head and giving you a stunned look.
“Are you okay? Are you getting cold? Do you want me to raise the room temperature?”
You sniff. “No, I’m fine! It’s nothing to freak out about.”
Ignoring your claims, he rushes to you and gets on his knees. Even though it was just a sneeze, Hyunjin is taking it too seriously. “I can get you some blankets. Just sit here.”
He stands up and is about to run out the room, but you grab him by the sleeve. “I said I’m okay! I think you’re being too overly dramatic about it.”
But he gives you a disbelieved expression. His eyes go down at your bandaged hand. Making you conscious about it, you hide it under your sleeve. Even though you mean anything rude about it, but Hyunjin was still offended.
“Hey…be honest with me.”
“Hm?” You look up from your hand.
“Do you think I’m handsome?”
That question came out of nowhere, but your answer isn’t going to be surprising. “Of course I think you’re handsome!”
Despite your exclamation, Hyunjin is silent.
Because it’s an answer that he was hoping you didn’t say.
“You’re impression of me hasn’t changed since we first met…” He trails off.
“…Hm?” You’re beginning to get the gist of what he wants to hear. You see him every day for a few years, so you know what he’s conveying through his body language without asking. “Well…my thoughts about you being attractive didn’t change…but there have been some traits that I’ve added.”
He scoffs. “Added?”
“Yea! You’re attractive, and charismatic, and hard-working, and friendly, and funny, and cool, and all-and-all, a fun guy to be around,” after the long list, you inhale. “Honestly, it was because I thought you were only good looking that made it hard to talk to you!”
“Really??”
“Yea, did I never tell you? I’ve always thought you were intimidating because of the way you glared, and seeing somebody who looks really handsome made me feel insecure, so I avoided you.”
He never knew that you thought of him that way. Everyone always approached him because they would do anything to be near good-looking people. You’re no different from other people who thought of him as a handsome fellow, but it’s how you see him that differs.
You pat your hand on the empty space next to you with a giddy smile. “Take a break and sit with me. Let’s chat for a little.”
Hyunjin is antsy about it, but he can’t say no to you after getting you comfortably into a chat. He takes a seat, making sure to leave a gap in between.
“Also…” You begin. “Wanna tell me why you’re getting shy suddenly?”
“What do you mean?”
“You won’t even look at me when you’re practicing. I’ve seen you dance a million times before.”
Hyunjin’s cheeks turn slightly red. “Don’t you think…the dance is a little too much?”
“Too much as in…?”
“You know…”
He doesn’t want to go on, but you have no idea where he’s trying to get at.
“A bit too…raunchy?”
These are problems that Hyunjin has never brought up before. He never worried about the maturity of his appearance. If anything, he even practices to enhance it. What is it about this solo dance that is making him question himself?
“Why, what’s wrong?”
He fixes his shirt, zipping up his jacket even more. “I dunno…when I see myself do the choreography, it’s hard looking at myself in the eyes…like it’s not me who’s dancing, but somebody else.” He hugs himself.
People who aren’t familiar with Hyunjin generally see him as a young man with a cool demeanor, and this is the sort of image that he portrays very well on stage. But what people don’t actually know is that he’s no different than your average teen. He gets shy when he’s being put on the spot, he loves playing video games and hanging out with his friends, and there are moments when he’s socially awkward. It only makes you wish that people see more of this side to him—that in reality, even someone who enacts sexual behavior doesn’t mean that they’re confident in it.
There’s more to being a manager than taking the idols from one place to another, but also mental support is vital to taking care of them. When they’re feeling down, it’s your job to help them get back up. You get on your feet, stretching your limbs after sitting on your bottom for hours.
“What are you doing?”
You extend your hand out. “We’re gonna dance.”
“What?? You?”
“Yea. I’m confident in the basic of the basics to your dance. Let’s do it together.”
“No offense but…why are you dancing?”
“To loosen your muscles. Come on, you’re not gonna leave me to do it myself, are you?”
Begrudgingly, Hyunjin decides to dance with you, although he’s not sure if he, a more experienced dancer, thinks that dancing next to you is going to make you confident in yourself.
You jump up and down, breathing heavily and shaking your hands. You do some exaggerated warm-ups, turning side to side and attempting to swing your legs as high as you can. You rotate your waist until you hear your bones crack.
“Okay, okay, I’m ready. Turn it up.”
He doesn’t turn on the song yet, but the tempo. Unfortunately, you lack the knowledge of music, just what you know from the members. What you do know is that their movements are based on the beat being played right now.
You get into the feel of the beat, counting one to four and repeating it until you begin the dance. You tap your feet, already messing up with the first move. Hyunjin creases his eyebrows like he’s questioning why you’re doing this. You attempt it for a second time, failing at the exact same move. Again, but the failure repeats.
To save your pride, Hyunjin decides to enter the picture. “You’re not doing it right. Here.”
Hyunjin counts the tempo, doing everything step by step, slow enough for you to imitate. You try to copy him but fail miserably, only doing a half-assed imitation of it.
Once you get the gist of the beginning, he moves on to the next phase, beginning with the hip thrust. This is the part of the dance that he felt mostly uncomfortable with. His face turns red, insecure about it, but when he looks at you, you do the thrust as well, but it wasn’t as sensual as it was originally intended to be.
You make an animalistic roar, making a goofy face worth censoring. But rationality hits you real hard, embarrassment overwhelming you as you fall to the ground and hide your shameful face. Hyunjin bursts into laughter, falling to the ground as well. He wasn’t expecting you to fool around and thought you were actually serious about it.
“Ah…I just wanna throw myself out the window.” You mutter, curling into a ball like a hermit.
“No, no, it was great! Do it again, I wanna record it.”
“No!” You raise your head up. “I know you’re gonna share it to the others!!”
“No I’m not!” He sarcastically says as he stands back up.
He walks backward to the counter, playfully hiding his hands behind his back, curling his lips inward as he reaches to grab his phone. It doesn’t take long for you to catch on with what he’s doing, so you get on your feet and rush to him.
“Hey! What are you gonna do?”
“Nothing! Just…do the dance again. I didn’t see it that well.”
You blush. “No!”
He turns on the camera. You try to grab it out of his hand, but using his height to his advantage, he raises his arms up, making it impossible for you to reach even after jumping.
“Hey! I told you that I’m not going to do it again!’
“I know, so that’s why I’m just going to text them instead.”
You jolt, knowing full well that the boys won’t let you live until you reenact the dance in front of them. You continue jumping to get the phone, but no matter how many tries, you just can’t reach it. Seeing your adorable attempts in getting the phone, it makes Hyunjin laugh again.
“You used to be so shy. I never thought how wild you actually are! It’s so cute.”
“It’s not funny!”
“Alright, alright, I get it. It’s a secret between you and me.”
You cross your arms, not letting your eyes off of him until he sets his phone down. Once he does, you finally loosen up a bit. “Do you…at least feel better?”
“Hm?”
“You’ve been down lately, so I thought that I should make you laugh a little.”
Did he make it that obvious? It makes him feel bad that you had to humiliate yourself to cheer him up.
“I’m sorry I can’t do anything about the dance. As much as I can try advocating that the dance is too much for you, especially since you barely became an adult, they won’t listen,” you sulk. “But then when I thought about it, out of all idols, they chose you. Even if they don’t see the potential and only your looks, then prove it to them.”
Those words...feel nostalgic. In fact, this setting is very familiar. You and him sat here before, the atmosphere ten times more awkward since it was the first meeting.
“Ah...I’m tired...” You sit down. “I don’t know how you guys can stand all day long. I’m already tired from jumping.”
Without warning, Hyunjin sits next to you, his thigh rubbing against yours, and his over-sized body leaning closer to you. He rests his head on your shoulder, nudging it until it’s comfortable, wrapping his hands around your arm. Across from you and him is the mirror, reflecting back what you two are doing—sitting with no space in between, Hyunjin clinging onto you, your legs touching ever so gently, but it’s enough to spark fire in his chest. He would’ve never thought that there’d be someone who he’d be nervous when touching, and yet still want more.
“Remember when we first met?”
You stare at him, confused. “Of course. Why bring that up all of a sudden?”
“You kept following me around, spying on me like a stalker.” He laughs.
You blush. “O-okay...well...! It’s because I get all worked up when I talk to strangers!”
“You can’t handle talking to strangers, but you used to work in the casting department...?”
“Yea, well...!!” You look away, flustered.
He snickers, enjoying you stumbling with your words. As the mood softens, he feels like falling asleep.
“We met when I was a strong candidate to debut, but it wasn’t for the reason why I auditioned in the first place...Nothing will hurt more than being told that you have the potential only because you’re good looking, not for your skills.”
He holds onto you tighter. He looks back to those faceless people, glaring down at him. Like a deuce in the corner of a classroom, Hyunjin stood out like sore thumb, isolated from the rest his back to everybody else because he’s oh-so handsome. If he complained about it, then he would be criticized for not taking the compliment; the creation of a vicious cycle for being stuck in a box without being given the chance to sprout.
“This whole time, I didn’t want people to judge me only because of my face, and it dictated what I did. I was so conscious of every little thing I was doing, making sure that people know that I’m not just an object. But now I know not to let this dance take over me, but I take over it. Thanks.”
You have no clue what you did to make him change his mind. But what you don’t know is that your goofy dance made him realize that a dance is a dance, but it’s the dancer who interprets it. He’s been too focused on people judging him that he forgot why he became a performer in the first place: to express his love for dancing.
==========
It’s the day of Hyunjin’s performance. Behind the stage, the staff members are running around like rabbits, making sure things go well for the current performance with the idol on stage. The loud volume buzzes throughout the back—the bass causing the floor to vibrate. Even then, it doesn’t overshadow the audience’s cheers. The staff in charge of sound helps Hyunjin put the mic on. It’s very clear that he’s nervous, no one giving him words of encouragement. None of the members are here to cheer him on, and you’re not there as well.
A few rooms away from the stage, you and the boys are in the auditorium, sitting in their private sector with wall dividers. The television plays the idol’s solo, the eight of them, including you, anticipating Hyunjin’s performance that’s next. Each and every one of you knows how much he practiced for this moment, and this is his time to shine.
“Did you see Hyunjin’s outfit? He looked very cool.” Felix unconsciously speaks in English.
“Seeing him in those tight jeans reminds me of why he has so many fans…” Chan mentions.
They continue their conversation in English, and right about then, the idol finishes his part, and it’s Hyunjin’s turn. As he walks across the stage with the back up dancers, you hold your breath.
==========
Hyunjin stands in front of hundreds of people—some of them are fans, others having no idea who he is. He has no time to face the audience hidden beneath the darkness, as the stage lights blaze against his face. His song turns on, but his vision turns black.
~~~
“That girl’s here again.”
Hyunjin and his friend are sitting together in the trainee cafeteria, his friend pointing at the entrance and spotting a girl peeking her head out from the door. When they make eye contact, the girl jumps, running away. This isn’t the first time he’s caught her spying on him, and initially, he thought that she was looking at somebody else, or his friend, but as time went on, he’s beginning to suspect that she’s his stalker.
“I don’t think she’s a trainee. I don’t see her during practice,” his friend munches on his rice. “Maybe she’s an employee from another department and has a crush on you. You gonna do anything about it?”
Hyunjin shakes his head.
“Why not??”
“I don’t want to start any rumors.”
“If you leave it alone, then she’ll keep following you, and THAT’S what’s going to start rumors.”
“Well...she’s a girl. If I talk to her, then it’s going to spread gossip like she’s my girlfriend or something.” Hyunjin brushes this off, finishing up his bowl of vegetables.
By the door, she returns to the cafeteria. At first, he thought that she was going to spy on him again, but it turns out that, this time, she’s waiting for someone. Chan, a pretty well-known fellow among the trainees, approaches her, and they have a conversation.
“Oh, maybe they’re in a relationship!”
This is the first time he’s seen her talk to somebody else, so it makes a little more sense why she comes to the trainee department often. However, Hyunjin doesn’t agree with his friend in that she and Chan are dating. Based on their body language, they’re not flirtatious in the slightest—their expressions are serious, and she’s even sharing some papers with him.
“I overheard that Chan-sunbaenim might debut.”
“Really?” He turns to his friend.
“Yea, that’s probably why he’s talking to that girl. I guess he was tired of waiting, so he’s taking things in his own hands.”
To Hyunjin, that’s actually admirable. Unlike him who’s waiting for someone to pick him for the next boy band, Chan is taking responsibility and doing it by himself. It’s the sort of courage that he respects but also envies.
“Do you think he’s actually going to form a band?” Hyunjin asks.
His friend shrugs his shoulder. “Dunno. Even if he does debut, I bet he’s just using his excuse of being friends with idols to gain fame. Fans absolutely go wild when idols are friends with people from other bands.”
He isn’t sure why, but the way his friend said that annoyed him a little. “You don’t know. Just because he has friends who already debut doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have the potential of debuting himself.”
“If he has the potential, then why didn’t he debut along with his other friends? Obviously because he doesn’t have what it takes to be an idol,” he states blatantly. “I’m not saying this because I’m your friend or anything, but I think you have a better chance than that Chan guy.”
“What makes you think that?”
“I think you’re pretty good-looking. I overheard some people from the casting department compliment your looks, and they said something about picking you as the visual for next their project. Isn’t that cool??”
However, Hyunjin doesn’t share the same excitement as him. Instead, he plays with his soup, his spoon splashing up and down. He sulks, making it apparent that he doesn’t want to talk about it.
Hyunjin stands up, picking up his tray.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“I’m done eating. I’m gonna head back to practice.”
“What?? But we literally just finished it earlier, and you’re going back?”
“I’m not going to get any better if I keep sitting around. I’ll see you later.”
“Geez, and it’s making me look bad…” his friend whines as he continues eating.
Ignoring his comment, Hyunjin heads to the double doors where the girl and Chan stand. He puts his hands in his pockets, keeping his head low as he tries to look cool in front of her. When she notices him, she flinches, hiding behind Chan. Making him feel conscious, Hyunjin picks up the pace and rushes out to the halls.
----------
Hyunjin is the first to get back to the practice room, but he’s also the last to leave. Most of the trainees have returned to the dorm, but he stayed behind, feeling as though he hasn’t practiced enough. Even the coaches have long since gone home, and the only adults that remain are the janitors.
The practice room is dimly lit, but it’s so dark that Hyunjin can only see the reflection of his silhouette in the wall mirror. An American pop song is playing on the overheads, a song that has very distinct beats, making it easy for Hyunjin to hear. He doesn’t know the name to the song since it’s in English, but he grew a liking to it after the dance coach kept playing it.
As the song reaches the loudest crescendo, Hyunjin attempts to step it up, moving his arms and legs from each eighth note to now every sixteenth-note. But as he tries to keep up with the pace, he finds himself slowing down a lot, his aching muscles locking his movements. Before the song reaches its ending, Hyunjin takes a misstep, stepping over his own feet and falling down.
“Shit!” He accidentally slips out.
He rubs his buttocks as he gets up, but his legs are so sore that he falls back down. Instead of falling on his butt again, he’s so weak that he lands on his back. His heavy breathing is louder than the song itself, despite being put on the highest volume. He takes a few seconds to stare blankly at the black ceiling, almost questioning his life choices—every decision he’s made to bring him to this point.
He rolls to the side before sitting up straight. He scoots to the counter, grabbing his phone and a towel. He dries his sweaty hair with the cloth, leaving it on his head. He turns off the phone, checking the time and seeing that it’s four in the morning. He sighs in frustration since he has an hour before his alarm clock goes off for school. It’s burdensome having to go to school and interrupting his practice time.
What his friend said still bothers him—about how he has the potential of becoming an idol simply because of his looks. Idols who have the position of being the visual are easily overshadowed by the other members, being defined only as the ‘nice-looking statue’, not judged by the characteristics of their performance. Years of training only to look good on camera is exactly what Hyunjin doesn’t want to be known for, pushing his obsession for practicing to become more intense.
“What’s the point…” He mumbles to himself in a defeated tone.
He’s still a trainee, but it already seems like he’s become the designated visual. Most trainees and employees compliment him a lot for his looks rather than his dancing skills. He isn’t even sure if he’s going to debut either, so no matter how much he practices, there’s still a chance that no one will know how hard he’s worked, and that’s what lowers his spirits.
“Excuse me…” a timid voice comes from beside him. “Are you okay?”
He looks up, and to his surprise, it’s the girl who’s been stalking him. She has a water bottle in her hand, crouching over with a concerned look on her face.
“You…you were practicing a lot without taking breaks in between, so I got a little worried.”
“You don’t even know me, so why worry?” Hyunjin bluntly states, though it was unintentional.
That wasn’t what he wanted to say. He’s just exhausted that it came off that way. Luckily, his tone doesn’t scare her away and she remains.
“Sorry...if I’m annoying you, then I can leave. I just wanted to give you some water since it looks like you didn’t have any.”
She sets the water bottle down and is about to leave. Is she actually leaving? He thought. After days of watching him, when she finally approached him, she’s already leaving. It makes him disappointed, almost as if he wants more from her.
“Wait.” He calls out without thinking.
She turns out, seemingly a little happy that he isn’t pushing her away, but she tries to hide her smile. He doesn’t know why, but he just had the urge to call her.
“Uhm…are you a trainee?”
She shakes her head. “I just got hired in the casting department.”
“Oh…it makes sense then…” He mutters.
“Sense?” She tilts her head, curiously.
“N-nothing…! Just…I happen to see you talk to Chan-sunbaenim, and people are saying that he’s planning to debut.”
She nods. “Yes! Wow, the rumor spread so fast. But we are. I’m helping him scout some trainees.”
“Really? That’s cool.”
“Yea…and…” She becomes flustered again. “I was…uhm…wondering…”
He looks at her curiously.
“If…you would like to join?” She looks away, squeezing her eyes shut.
It’s so strange that she’s giving him the option to join, not whether or not he’ll pass. Usually, trainees don’t have a say, so it’s almost strange that he even has a choice. Even though it’s a simple yes-or-no question, he doesn’t know how to answer.
But that’s when he remembers what his friend said. Everybody likes Hyunjin because of his looks, not because of his talents. This woman probably chose him because of his visuals. Besides, she stares a lot, so it makes sense. Thinking about this, the pessimism claws at him again.
“Why would you ask me of all people? I’m sure there are others who are better than me.”
“Ah…you’re right.” She trails off.
He was almost expecting her to retaliate, to make herself seem like a good person who isn’t shallow. Even though he’s the one who said that, he’s a little saddened that she agreed with him, but what does he expect?
“But out of everybody else, I chose you because I see potential in you.”
He raises his head up, puzzled.
“You work harder than anybody else. I watch you dance a lot, and I can feel the energy in every movement of your body. You were just so cool that it sort of intimidated me, so it took me days to muster up the courage to speak to you!” You slap your own cheeks. “I heard that counting backwards before approaching a stranger is helpful, but after I counted down to zero, I kept going down into the negatives...”
Hyunjin chuckles. “How far did you go?”
“I don’t know…I stopped keeping track after negative two hundred and fifty-three…”
He laughs again. “Really??”
“Anyway! I just wanted to ask because I’ve never seen anyone so dedicated to dancing! I thought it would be a shame if your hard work fell into deaf ears.”
She gets comfortable on the ground.
“While I was watching you dance, I imagined millions of people being inspired by your story. Also...don’t take this personally, but maybe one day, I’d like to see you dance not for others, but for yourself.” She finally smiles.
His jaw hangs open, amazed that she hit the nail. That is the problem that he’s been having all this time: his love for dancing faded, and it became an unhealthy obsession toward perfection—the sort that appeases others. That’s why absolute perfection doesn’t exist; just as you can’t be perfect, you can’t appease everyone, and that’s what Hyunjin has been hopelessly trying to accomplish.
“…Are you serious…about wanting to see me dance?”
She nods.
This is the first time a compliment in relations to his dance felt authentic. She doesn’t seem like she’s lying either. Life as a trainee is tough—so tough that he can’t explain it properly in words. Every day with endless training makes every second feel like torture, but at the same time, his integrity is at play when people see him as a potential idol for his looks.
But to hear from somebody else that he’s more than objectification, it makes him feel…hopeful. It might be because he’s been craving acknowledgement of his training, but he feels like he could break down into tears at any moment. He didn’t realize how low his spirit was that all he needed was a meaningful compliment.
“I’ll…think about it…Maybe after you tell me your name.”
“Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself!! My name is (Y/N), and it’s nice to meet you!”
==========
With a blink of an eye, the performance that he’s been practicing for months has  ended. Those long hours have paid off, and the audience is impressed. The screams from fans makes everything worth it, and he can’t help but smile while walking off.
At the back of the stage, the staff rush to take off his mic and cool down his body. He can hardly breathe, but despite his exhaustion, he can’t wipe that smile off his face. Throughout the entire dance, he couldn’t stop thinking about you. You really have changed since the first day you two met, and it makes him wonder how much he’s changed through those years.
Behind the staff members surrounding him, you stand from afar with the brightest grin on your face. Even though you look like your typical self, he thought you looked particularly gorgeous today. It might be because you were in his mind the entire time that he unconsciously missed you, and he can’t wait to be with you.
He walks forward with only you in mind. You catch on that he’s moving right toward you, so you prepare to congratulate him. Before you’re given the chance, he drops his entire weight onto you. Hyunjin wraps his long arms around you, pressing his face against your neck.
“Hyunjin...??” You murmur.
But he doesn’t respond with words; he does so by wrapping his arms tightly around you. His skin is usually soft, but you can distinctly feel his lips being matted against the nape of your neck, and it’s making you flustered. Your heart is racing, timid by the intimacy, but it makes you wonder what happened to make him act like this.
Hyunjin trails his hand down your arm, running down your skin and giving you goosebumps. His long fingers search for your hand, his index finger stroking your knuckle as if he’s asking permission to hold it. You’re no longer wearing bandages for the burn marks, but a Band-Aid. You wrap your hand around his, and he raises your small hand up, pressing it against his pounding chest. It must be the adrenaline, his heart racing from moving his body too much. You aren’t sure what the purpose is for him to hold your hand, but it’s making your face turn redder.
The staff gaze at this awkward scene. It makes you embarrassed, lowering your head as you can’t take Hyunjin’s boldness anymore. “People are staring.”
But as a way to taunt the people who are watching, Hyunjin hugs you tighter, so much that your chest is pressed against him. He raises his head, glaring at every single person who dared to judge them. Intimidated by him, they continue with their work.
“I-I came here to congratulate you. The other members are waiting for you.” You gently push him away.
He looks a little disappointed, but he pulls a smile. “Okay.”
==========
“CONGRATULATIONS!!” The group shouts altogether.
They scream and shout, bouncing up and down as they surround him. They jump on his back, messing with his hair that took hours to be made. Chan and Woojin slap him on the back, and there’s a loud whack. As chaos unfolds, you stand by the side, more than happy to not be participating in that mess.
“Hyunjin, you snake! Who knew that there was a man in you?” Changbin jokes.
“Be quiet, Hyung…” his cheeks turn red.
“Look at him getting all shy. He secretly enjoyed showing off his body to the crowd.” Minho pats him on the back.
“Well…I didn’t like the dance at first because I felt like I was an easy choice for my face…but…” His eyes follows you, helping the employees clean up the area. “I learned that you don’t let others fog the effort you put into training. I wasn’t going to let dance define me, but I define the dance.”
The group awes in unison.
“Such mature words from a high school graduate. I don’t know this hyung anymore!” Jeongin shouts in blatant exaggeration.
Hyunjin laughs. “Stop it.”
While the group are focused on Hyunjin, Minho turns his attention to you, minding your own business. He keeps staring at you, cocking his head to the side and squinting his eyes. He steps toward you, getting in your way on purpose.
“Did you need something, Minho?”
And without warning, he pulls down the collar of your shirt.
“M-Minho!” You shout.
“I knew it.”
There’s a peachy lipstick stain imprinted on the nape of your neck. Everyone’s jaws drop, silence befalling the room as the shock takes over. Minho glances at Hyunjin who has the exact same shade of lipstick on right now.
“No wonder you guys took so long to get back here. You two were going at it, weren’t you?”
“What?!” you and Hyunjin exclaim at the same time.
“What the heck are you saying?! Nothing like that happened!” You shout, your ears turning red.
“You bastard!” Changbin grabs Hyunjin. “You pressured her into it, didn’t you??”
“I didn’t!”
“W-wait, don’t fight!” You get in between. “It’s not like that!”
“Hyunjin might be adulting a bit too much…” Woojin trails off.
The boys continue to fight, believing one thing over the other about the kiss mark on your neck. As you try to stop them, you attempt to wipe it off to no avail. When you and Hyunjin make eye contact, he doesn’t necessarily look annoyed about the misunderstanding. Rather, he winks at you, making your heart skip a beat. That wink alone made you think that the mark on your neck might be on purpose.
The First Time They Saw Each Other, Really Saw Each Other
*Kim GoEun x Lee Minho Fanfiction **Based on an interview where they were asked what their lasting impressions of each other were.  LMH answered it was their first scene together in the BBQ Chicken restaurant and KGE answered it was seeing LMH at Gwanghwamun Square. Also included in this fic is their time in the BIFAN Awards 2015 when they barely knew each other.
The first time he saw her at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2015, he didn't even recognize her. Stage lights and camera flashes had turned her sleek white dress almost into a sunbeam and he found it hard to look. But then he also found it hard not to look as her left leg peeked through an almost dangerous but still tasteful slit up her thigh as she walked to her seat. She moved with an almost easy sensuality, as if she wasn't even aware of it, and it contrasted so much with the bashful way she kept her eyes on the ground, bowing slightly to every person she passed by. He remembered clocking her as, "Cute. Must be a new actress, " and then turning to speak to the person who had tapped on him on his right shoulder. She had ended up sitting two seats away from him. And that was that.
Halfway through the awards show, he was startled almost out of his seat when they announced Kim GoEun as the recipient of the Special Mention for the Best Actress Category for "Chinatown", and the girl he had marked as "cute new actress" started getting up from her seat. He had seen "Chinatown" with his friends a few months ago and he could clearly remember the young teenager who had played the feral little debt collector/killer. Her performance had looked so effortlessly intuitive and he could clearly recall how he even told one of his friends that the kid was going to go places someday.
He leaned forward, turned his head and tried to stare at her as discreetly as possible. He couldn't comprehend how she had gone from that little ragamuffin in "Chinatown" to this beautiful young woman. As an actor, he should have been used the transformation that actors and actresses go through when occupying a role but hers was just extraordinary. He was at awe and just a little bit intimidated with what she had achieved in such a short time. He made a mental note to look up her work and watch them in his off time.
People around them had started congratulating her and he could see a little flush creeping sweetly up her round cheeks. And when she glanced over at his direction, her eyes met his briefly and he had smiled at her, trying wordlessly to convey how amazing he thought she was in her movie. But then she had quickly looked away and smiled at the ground. It was almost endearing how she had tucked errant strands of her hair behind her ear before gathering her dress so she could walk up to the stage.
He could also, very clearly, remember the flash of heat that ran up spine when she had turned to face the stage and he saw the back of her dress. There was none. Well, there was, but it looked like someone had cut it out to make way for her angel wings. The delicate line of her spine was exposed, flanked on both sides by her shoulder blades where her angel wings could have been and it continued down her back until the sweet curve of the bottom of her spine had thankfully disappeared back under fabric once more. He swallowed hard, crossed his legs, and attributed the heat to the stage lights.
So 4 years later when his sister had told him that after his military service, he was going to be at helm of a Kim EunSook drama with Kim GoEun as his leading lady, his entire being had buzzed with electricity. EunGyo. HongYi. IlYoung. Hong Seol. Ji EunTak. He had seen them all and he wondered what it would be like to see all those characters collapsed into a single existence when he meets her again, for the first time.
The first time she saw him, she didn't see him at all. Back in college after finishing "Eungyo," she was just a normal student enjoying normal everyday things like going out for barbecue, chicken, beer, movies, and the occasional tv drama. "The Heirs" had created such a huge buzz in 2013 that she had felt compelled to watch it.
And that's when she saw him, Kim Tan, golden and glorious under the California sun on the opening credits of "The Heirs." It was almost embarrassing how quickly her face had heated up after only a few seconds of watching him surf. She had always loved the beach, that was for sure. But she had never seen Kim Tan on a surfboard in the beaches she had gone to. Droplets of ocean water hanging from the tips of hair falling over his forehead, eyelashes, nose and lips were all it took for Kim GoEun to understand why Lee Minho was in a league all on his own when it came to star quality.
But he was never Lee MinHo to her. He was Kim Tan, the California surfer. Kim Tan, the lonely misunderstood heir who would fight to the bitter end to keep his love. Kim Tan, who stole kisses with a donut. Kim Tan, who opens his arms wide and closes them around his girl and makes her feel like no one else in the world mattered. He was, quite possibly, the biggest crush of her entire young life.
So when only a few years later at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2015, she had been seated two people away from him, she hadn't known what to do with herself. She knows she was there for two awards but she can only remember staring at the floor and trying very hard not to look over to her right because her Kim Tan was there. She was there as an actress so she should at least try to act like one and not some tween with a big crush. And she had been good, managing to avoid openly staring at him by avoiding eye contact with absolutely everyone.
But when they called her name onstage and everyone around her had started to congratulate her, it had been impossible not to look. She chanced a glance at him when someone on her right side had murmured congratulations. She could swear their eyes met for the briefest of moments but she couldn't be too sure. She had felt her face heating up from embarrassment and had to turn away before he could notice. Not that he would actually be looking at her but mostly for her own dignity and self-preservation.
She doesn't remember how she got up the stage but she did. She was proud of the work she had done, she was. Four movies as a main character was no easy feat. But this night will forever remain in her mind as the night she first saw Kim Tan.
But the first time she met Lee Minho was a different story altogether.
She was older at 29 years old, no longer the blushing college girl who was unsure as to what path to take. She had thrown herself into acting, embracing her path at full throttle because if there was one thing that passing of her beloved grandmother had taught her, it was that she only had one life to live. So when she had been offered the unconventional role of Lt. Jeong TaeEul, a blunt, pragmatic detective who falls in love with a monarch from a parallel universe, she didn't even think twice before saying yes to Kim EunSook, the woman who had given her the bright loving light of Ji EunTak. And when she was told that the monarch she would fall in love with was Lee MinHo, she merely threw her head back and laughed heartily, remembering the silliness of her early years in the business. She was different now.
And so, when the main cast had gathered together in Kim EunSook's office on day in July of 2019 and she had taken the opportunity to get to know them a little bit. She knew she was going to miss the first Table Reading as she had not yet wrapped up with the filming of her musical, "Hero." It had been easy to spot his tall handsome form, even from the corner of the room.
"Sunbaenim!" she cried as she rushed over to him, bowing and shaking his hand while smiling brightly up at him. "Kim Tan the handsome heir, I finally meet you! I had the biggest crush on Kim Tan when I was 22! I'm your fan! Thank you for making my dream come true!" Then she gave him two thumbs up and started shaking them near her face.
Lee MinHo had burst out laughing at her dorky but nonetheless adorable introduction. He had a strange laugh, Goeun thought, but liked the sound of it anyway. It was the kind of laughter that started in the belly and knocked around in the chest, his whole body shaking in an effort to contain it. She liked his kind of laughter, she decided as she craned her head up to look at him.
When his laughter had subsided, his hand went up to wipe some of the tears that had formed in the corners of his eyes and caught the edge of the black baseball cap she had worn that day. It tumbled out of her head and fell to the floor. But before she could even bend to pick it up, he touched her gently on the shoulder and shook his head a little. Then he crouched low, swiftly snatched her black ball cap from the ground and got up.
She held her hands out to receive it but to her surprise, he brushed off whatever dirt it caught from the floor and placed her ball cap back on her head. It slid on easily but she could still feel how his hands made sure it was snug. Then he placed his hands on her shoulders, bent a little to look at his handiwork. She found herself turning her face up to let him see it was okay. He really, really had the most beautiful pair of deep-set brown eyes. Seeing them up close caused a little riot in her but she held it together.
Then he caught a few strands of her hair that was flattened against the left side of her face and smoothed it behind the delicate shell of her ear.
"There, perfect."
Then, a megawatt smile.
And 29 year old Kim GoEun felt like someone had tugged her heart back into her 22 year old self.
"Ah, I'm afraid the Kim Tan you know is old now," he said ruefully, his eyes holding a little bit of his earlier laughter. "I don't think it's your dream that came true though. I believe it was mine, GoEunsshi. I have wanted to work with your for a long time now."
With great effort, she tugged her heart back to her 29 year old self and forced her pulse to stop ringing in her ears. She had prepared for her role as thoroughly as she always did. But she hadn't prepared for this, for him being like...this. How did his co-stars not fall at his feet all the time? No one had warned her that he would be this effortlessly magnetic. How was she going to last 7 or 8 months of the onslaught of his charm without making a fool of herself?
She smiled back at him, told him, insisted actually, that it really was more her dream that came true. But in her head, she ran a mantra that would be her armor for the long months to come, "A smile is just a smile. It does not mean more. Do not want more." With that, she gave one last bow to him and flitted off to Woo DoHwan. And that was the last that Lee Minho would see of Kim GoEun for the next few months.
It was November when he finally saw her again.
He had arrived at the set a good 30 minutes before shooting began. It was a booth tucked away in one corner of a BBQ Chicken branch, right against a glass wall. He took his seat and tried to settle his racing mind. On hindsight, it had probably not been a good idea to marathon all her movies and her two dramas before this first shoot. Watching Kim GoEun's growth on film and tv had only driven home the point that she was out of his league.
He had never been an insecure actor. He just knew his strengths and used them to his advantage. He also knew what he lacked and had tried his hardest to make up for them. And if he couldn't, he would avoid putting himself in a situation where he would be forced to show a weak hand. But after watching Kim GoEun work with legends like Lee ByungHun, Jeon DoYeon, Kim HyeSoo, and Gong Yoo, he had come to the conclusion that he had absolutely nothing to offer her that she hadn't gotten before from all the other actors she had worked with.
So he sat there in BBQ Chicken, fiddling with his thumbs in trepidation. And then, almost as if by gravity, his head turned to the side and through the glass wall, he saw her white van roll to a stop out on the street. She stepped out, her gait light. She had been made to wear outfits that seemed to swallow her up, tennis shoes, baggy jeans, loose fitting black polo shirt, and topped by a long moss green winter coat.
But for all her character's visual heaviness, her delicate round face looked lit from the inside with the light of a thousands stars. He had seen this light on her when she was Ji EunTak and couldn't comprehend where she had hidden it when she was IlYoung. He watched her shove her hands in the pocket of her coat as she half jogged, half walked to the entrance of the restaurant. Almost as if she felt his eyes on her, she turned her head to search through the glass wall for him and when their eyes met, her face broke into a smile so wide it that he found himself smiling back at her just as wide. She waved at him excitedly before finally walking through the entrance.
He stood up and hurriedly pulled out her chair for her. He heard a giggle before she spoke, "Sunbaenim, such a gentleman!"
The production team had changed her hair. Gone were the soft straight strands his fingers had touched underneath her ball cap on the day they met in Kim EunSook's office. They had given her bangs and waves, like Hong Seol in "Cheese in the Trap," but had stayed away from a harsh change in color. He wondered if her hair was still just as soft.
"You didn't have to do that, though. We're not on a date!"
Her light easy manner was so easy to respond to. So he tipped his head to the side, looked at her askance and said, "Ah, but Lee Gon and TaeEul are."
One eyebrow curved up as she folder her arms across her chest, a light smile on her face. "But TaeEul is paying for the meal, right? How is that a date, sunbaenim?"
He pouted and put a hand on his chest in mock hurt. "I'll be giving you an entire Kingdom. That should count for something, right?"
She pouted right back at him and reached out to tap him on the side of his arm. "TaeEul doesn't need kingdoms, Pyeha. She needs chicken and beer." She scrunched up her nose at him and added, "Better luck next time, yeah?"
Outwitted, he accepted defeat and playfully hung his head in shame. Then he peered at her through his bangs that flopped boyishly on one side of his forehead and smiled at her warmly. They had fallen into their roles so easily in the first few minutes that they had been together, as if Kim EunSook had written them into the characters instead of the other way around. He had a feeling that playing this role would change his life, he just didn't know how.
Then they moved into rehearsals and the shoot for the first BBQ Chicken dinner scene and he was given a front row seat to the show that was Kim GoEun. She chose to change the inflection of her voice first, using the sound to command the rest of her body with. Gone were the sweet, teasing tones of earlier and in its place were the short, clipped tones of an annoyed Lt. Jeong TaeEul. Sometimes she would move in a more boxed manner, like a boy, and it worked so well with her too big clothes. He was so busy observing every little movement she made, tracking all the changes, even as he threw his lines back at her, that he didn't notice that the real show was staring at him in the face.
When the cameras started to roll and their assistants had drawn back, they were left in their own corner of the restaurant. There was nothing between them now, no script in hand obscuring half their faces, no PA hovering about and brushing back strands of hair, nothing except for a table full of chicken and beer.
The AD clapped his hands together to start the scene and both he and Kim GoEun sprung into action. Where he sat just a little straighter, more stiff, she had slouched into her chair and began digging, no, stabbing into the chicken.
"Why aren't you eating?"
Round cheeks full of food and one hand with a fork buried into a chicken leg, she had looked at him dead in the eye with such force that he was taken aback, offended for both himself and his character that this woman suddenly had more authority than he and Lee Gon combined. He held her stare for a few quiet seconds, and then surrendered to the way his body wanted to respond to Lt. Jeong TaeEul's thinly veiled threat.
He dropped his eyes and stared at the chicken like petulant child.
"I don't eat food that wasn't tasted beforehand."
It was in this moment that he understood the power that Kim GoEun held with just her eyes.
He had never been an actor that used instinct and intuition. He had always found it too loose. He liked the discipline and control of studying a character, anticipating a co-actor's action and preparing three different responses to it. Acting for him had always been a mental exercise. But for the first time in his career, he did something he never thought he would do – he let go. And it only took one look in Kim GoEun's eyes to teach him that there was still something more he could pull from inside him if he just learned to let go.
This was probably how he had developed the habit of openly staring at her. It did strange things to him and he couldn't understand how looking at her face, and into her eyes, could connect him to parts of himself he never knew he had access to. As an actor, of course. So until she notices and tells him to stop, he decided he would catalogue every detail of her face, peer into her eyes and let them take him to places he had never been inside himself.
It's not as if she doesn't stare at him too. She does, and just as openly too. It's just that she stares at him at the same time as everybody does. So no one notices. Like that time in Gwanghwamun Square when Lee Gon and Jeong TaeEul meet for the first time, she had stared at him while traffic stopped on both sides of the road because everyone wanted to see Lee MinHo riding an immaculate white horse and dressed like a real life prince.
She drew herself back amongst the crowd of onlookers as Lee MinHo rode Maximus onto the square with the an unworldly grace. When the director instructed him to pause and take in his surroundings, she took the same instruction but focused her gaze solely on the man who had always been Kim Tan to her, but something about the way he looked now, sitting atop this majestic horse in such a regal manner, told her that it was time to let go of Kim Tan and let this man in.
She was off to his side so she was sure he wouldn't see her. It was cold that night so she had jammed her hands into the pockets of her black coat. He didn't look like the cold touched him. He didn't look like anything could touch him, sitting so tall on top of an already large animal who followed his every command. Backlit by the traffic lights and brushed by a gentle breeze, his dark brown hair framed his face in a soft curtain. It was a delicious contrast to the sharp lines of his dark thick eyebrows, tall sharp nose, high cheekbones, and down to the strong curve of his jawline. His broad shoulders was made even broader by the midnight black velvet jacket he wore that was embellished with gold filigree on the high collar and cuffs and gold buttons that ran down on both sides of the lapel.
This must be what little girls feel like when they dream of Prince Charmings, thought Kim GoEun. Because that's exactly what it felt like to look at Lee MinHo in the middle of Gwanghwamun Square – a dream. And she was a little scared that if she spent too much time in this dream, approximately 7 months of it, then she might never wake up from it. Or want to.
The breeze blew a little harder and she shivered. She drew her coat tighter around herself and bounced on the balls of her feet. An AD signaled to her and regretfully, or maybe just a little relieved to have a reason to, she turned away from watching Lee MinHo to begin preparing for their scene together.
She paused mid-step. Her heart beat, just a little erratic. She had just realized that tonight, she had not been looking at him as Lee Gon, but as Lee MinHo. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, exhaled, and said to herself, "It does not mean more. Do not want more." Then she opened her eyes, cleared it of the fog she herself had created, and marched with sure, measured steps towards this beautiful man with a white horse.
"Sunbaenim, you looked so handsome with Maximus!"
“Are they really here?” Minho whispered as they snuck backstage.
Tori nodded. “Apparently. They’re presenting, and I heard someone say that one of them might be doing a special stage.”
He straightened his jacket. “Do I look okay?”
“You look fine.” She promised. “And besides, it’s not like you haven’t met them.”
“Yeah, but it’s different. I’m like...not their backup dancer anymore.”
“I don’t think BTS is going to-”
“What am I supposed to do now?” Someone’s very loud voice carried down the hall.
Minho and Tori turned to look as a figure stormed down the hall, two very nervous-looking venue employees hurrying after.
Only when she stepped into the light did they realize who it was.
“Hide.” Minho said quickly. “We need to hide.”
“No.” Tori shushed him. “I wanna know the tea.”
“I hate that I know what that means now.” He groaned, turning to look the other way in case Sumi looked at him.
“You can still go on stage, I’m sure it’ll be fine.” The staff tried to reassure her.
“The song is for a group of four. And we got it down to two. And now you’re telling me that Jimin can’t make it because filming for Queendom ran over.”
“You knew that was a risk when you agreed-”
Sumi crossed her arms. “So I perform by myself?”
“You have to.”
“Great.” She threw her hands up in the air and turned away. “My first solo performance back and I’m going to do a half-assed performance. Really-”  She paused.
Tori looked up from her shoes after a long silence, finding Sumi and the staff all staring at her. The staff looked confused, but Sumi was just staring at them inquisitively.
“Ah, Hi.” Sumi bowed. “This is Minho. He used to dance backup for-”
“How tall are you?”
“Me?”
“It doesn’t matter.” Sumi stalked over, her heels making her about the same height as Tori. “I’d say you’re about the same size. Tori, right?”
“Yes.” Tori squeaked, having never felt more intimidated in her life.
Sumi nodded, thinking for a moment. “Zoey says you’ve got your shit together.”
“Mostly...” Tori thought for a moment. “I think. What are we talking about exactly?”
“I’m supposed to perform Bad Girl Good Girl with Jimin from AOA in twenty minutes, and she won’t be here. You’re from JYP, the same size, and have Zoey vouching for you. You in?”
Tori blinked. “I’m confused.”
“She wants you to perform with her.” Minho whispered, trying to be unnoticed.
“Hi, Minho. You’ve done well for yourself.” Sumi said, not even looking at him.
“Well, I tried. I mean-”
“You were always very talented.” Sumi finally smiled at him. “I’m just thrilled we got the chance to work with you before you were famous.” She looked back at Tori. “Are you in?”
Tori looked at Minho. “You were right, we should hide.”
Sumi smiled. “It’s okay if you say no. I’m just kind of in a pinch, and quite frankly I think performing with you will be fun.”
“We...” Tori rubbed her arm. “We haven’t had a chance to rehearse.”
“We have twenty minutes and a well-known choreo.”
Tori bit her lip. “I guess...Stray Kids is done for the day. And...it might be fun.”
“Perfect!” Sumi clapped her hands, turning to the staff. “One of you please go arrange everything with Stray Kids’ team, and Tori, you and Minho come with me and we’ll get ready for the performance.”
“Me?” Minho squeaked.
“Yeah, I’m sure the boys would love to see you again.”
“We met, briefly at an award show last year.” Tori said quietly as Sumi set off at a brisk pace down the hall.
“I remember. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to chat more.” She stopped at the door of a dressing room and pushed it open. “Put clothes on losers, I brought guests.”
As it happened, all members of BTS were appropriately dressed, looking up in mild confusion at the new visitors.
“Stray Kids?” Yoongi tilted his head.
“Yup.” Sumi reached for a hairbrush. “I’m performing with Tori now.”
“I thought you were performing with Jimin.” Namjoon said, hands on his hips.
Sumi shook her head. “I’ve only got room for one Jimin in my life.”
“So what? You kidnapped Tori?” Jin asked.
“Pretty much. But she’s cool with it.” Sumi winked at Tori.
Tori awkwardly smiled.
“Right.” Sumi clapped her hands decisively. “Boys, you remember Minho. He used to dance with us. Go keep him company so Tori and I can get ready.”
“You can’t kick us out of our own dressing room.” Taehyung complained.
“Sure I can.” She flashed him a finger heart. “Get out.”
Jhope rolled his eyes, swinging an arm over Minho’s shoulders and leading him from the room.
Tori was tempted to reach for him, but watched them all trickle out, taking her only ally and leaving her with Sumi.
“Your outfit is marked with the red tag.” Sumi said. “Try it on, and we probably have time for quick alterations if need be.”
Tori didn’t spot a changing screen, so she stood in the corner. Sumi seemed suitably unbothered, and stripped and dressed herself in her own costume without so much as casting a look at Tori.
When she did, Tori had pulled on the striped crop top and black shorts, and was working her way into the jacket.
“It looks good.” Sumi smiled. “Everything feel okay?”
“Yeah, I think so.” Tori swallowed. “Are you sure you want me to perform with you? It might be better if you just go on by yourself.”
Sumi snorted. “I doubt it. We’ll need your looks if we’re going to stand a chance.”
“My looks...” Tori tilted her head. “But you’re very pretty.”
Sumi snorted. “Trust me, you’re prettier. Now, do you know the dance?”
“Yeah.”
“Kay, here’s the positions we’ve worked out.”
Tori looked at the outstretched sheet, considering it for a moment. “Got it.”
“That fast?” Sumi raised an eyebrow.
“I’m a dancer.” She said by way of explanation.
“Ah.” She smiled. “That’s why Zoey likes you so much.”
Sumi smoothed out her own skirt and set to applying some makeup. “I hope I’m not scaring you or anything.”
“Scaring me? Of course not.” Tori said, her voice high and squeaky.
Sumi laughed. “Going on without being certain of your set is nerve-racking at the best of times. Getting such little notice is even worse.”
“I’m not worried about the set.” Tori said, moving Jungkook’s sweater so she could sit on the chair.
“Then what is there to worry about?” Sumi asked.
“Performing with you.” Tori said quietly.
Sumi’s eyes widened, and she looked at her for a long moment, before turning back to the mirror. “If that’s your concern, there’s no problem.”
“There is!” Tori insisted. “You’re like....the most famous Korean woman in the world.”
“Okay now, Hyuna exists.”
“You’re more famous and you know it.”
Sumi gave Tori a soft smile. “I’m just another idol. And I promise I’m a worse dancer than you.”
“Well, that’s something at least.” Tori gave a small laugh.
“So...” Sumi said, touching up her mascara. “Since we’re best friends now, can you spill whatever was up with the whole stalker thing, and the dating thing?”
“You saw that?” Tori winced.
“Everyone did. You okay?”
Tori nodded. “Guy was a creep, and broke into my apartment and tried to kidnap me, so you know.”
“Sadly, I do.” Sumi frowned. “But they took care of it?”
“They did.”
“And what about the dating thing? Just stupid rumours I assume. Those are the freaking worst. Last year everyone thought I was dating Shownu. And I mean, dude’s nice and looks great, but I feel like it’d be a little like dating a mannequin, you know?”
Tori took a moment to process all that she’d just said. “I...guess so?”
“Anyways.” Sumi spun in her chair. “Dating rumours. Ridiculous, right?”
“Well,” Tori instantly wished she was a better liar. “It wasn’t entirely unfounded.”
“Really.” Sumi looked playfully scandalized. “You and the leader?”
“Chan. A bit. But it’s over now.”
Sumi shook her head. “From the look on your face, I’m pretty sure it isn’t over.”
“Two minutes to stage prep!”
“TWO MINUTES TO STAGE PREP!” Jin knocked on the door.
“You ready?” Sumi smiled.
“I think so.”
“Good.” Sumi linked arms with her. “I get a vibe we’re going to be friends. Is that okay? I literally never get to hang out with anyone other than the guys. And occasionally Zoey. I’d love love love a new friend.”
“Okay.” Tori nodded shyly.
“Oh, yay!” She gasped. “You, me and Zoey should have sleep overs!”
Tori laughed. “I’m in!”
“Great!” Sumi reached for the door. “And, since you just told me a secret, I’ll tell you one too.”
“Okay, I’m ready for it.” Tori grinned.
Sumi gave a positively evil grin. “I have a boyfriend.”
“WHAT!”
“Let’s go.” She opened the door, pushing through the crowd of boys.
“How have you kept that hidden? Who is it?”
Sumi laughed. “You don’t get that many secrets until we’ve at least exchanged friendship bracelets.”
“Please, Eonnie.” Tori begged. “I need to know!”
“Tell you what, I’ll tell you over dinner. A thank you for helping me out with this.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Good. Because we need some serious best friend bonding time.”
“Oh, I can’t be best friends.” Tori said honestly. “Felix will be devastated.”
“Other Australian boy?”
“Yeah.”
“Jeez girl, you get around. Okay, fine. Zoey and I will just be second to Felix. Deal?”
“Deal?”
Sumi shook her head. “I can’t believe I’m being treated like this.”
“I can’t believe someone is making me go onstage with twenty minutes of prep.” Tori winked.
Sumi narrowed her eyes. “Well played. Well played.”
