Tommy saying he has to leave after kissing Buck is something I have to talk about…

Because instead of just saying “yeah gotta go!” and leaving Buck to flounder and worry and feel used, Tommy does the opposite

Tommy wants to stick around, wants to be there, and wants to be with Buck. And he says so by the way he adjusts Buck’s shirt, by maintaining eye contact, explaining it, and Buck isn’t left to spiral right after the kiss.

And after Buck’s little “okay” that still holds a sense of awe and maybe not being super present (which can’t blame him, I mean have you seen Lou), Tommy still assures Buck of his place by asking for a date.

It’s all these things that add up to Tommy making sure Buck is a priority and Tommy will keep that as a promise.

Buck deals with abandonment and not feeling right in the world, and Tommy is there to say “hey, in this world, in my world, you can feel safe and free to be you.”

Canto VII/Season 5 Abnormality Speculation

Ok, so each abnormality that is either part of a sinner's dungeon or their season pass egos (In the case of Heathcliff) usually has some connection/symbolism for them ala each of the ego used during Realizations in Library having some symbolism towards the emotions/memories displayed within. Since we have a pretty damn big list of mirror dungeon abnormalities and they seem to primarily draw on those for new bosses as opposed to making new ones, I'ma speculate on some options for things we'll face in Don's personal dungeon.

Pagoda Veneration

This one is pretty self explanatory. It's focused around wishes and the granting/destruction of them, which fits Don's character to a tee to the point she already has an EGO for it.

Rose Hunter

So, this abnormality is effectively a rogue hunter that seeks to bring Snow White's Apple (Or Ebony Apple, possibly both) back to fulfill the role they had in the original tale. Effectively, cutting their dreams short to drag them back to their original fate, which could possibly be the problem Don faces in her Canto or faced in her own past. It would effectively represent reality trying to drag her back down.

Sleepyhead

This one mainly correlates to Don's fascination and association with toys, along with it giving a lust gift which matches the Sin of Don's base ego. It also has a blood motif in that you need to offer it blood to get its head to raise back up to give you the gift, which also matches with Don's base ego translating to "Blood of Sancho".

Tomorrow's Expression

Tomorrow's Expression is an Aberration of Today's Shy Look, which in Library stood-in for Angela's having to mask her true desires to reach out to the others in order to fulfill the Seed of Light plan. Tomorrow's Expression is effectively Shy Look's opposite, being something that asks how it should express itself as opposed to something that wanted to find a way to express its own emotions. This can correlate to the possible origins of Don and her worldview, and the original story of Don Quixote and how people tried to cruelly snap Don out of his delusions.

Thinking abt c!grian because yeah

He frames himself as a strategist for every single game, looking at his options and seeing what works. Mostly what “works” is whatever impulsive decision didn’t kill him. He then looks back, rationalizes it as being a part of the plan. This is especially telling for what ‘plans’ didn’t work, because they have a lasting impact on other rounds. So here’s my take on his thought process bc psychoanalysis or whatever:

In 3L Scar was Grian’s ride or die. The two of them were a menace on the server, Grian seeing himself as the cool, rational analyst and Scar his unhinged counterpart. This is despite the fact that Grian is the one on a warpath while Scar is much more interested in scamming people. Grian ends up being betrayed by Scar via one of Scar’s scams.

So in LL Grian blatantly refuses to team with Scar. I know OOC it’s because of repetitive alliances or whatever but IN character the thought process is “Scar’s trying to scam people again. If he scammed and betrayed me once then he’ll do it again.” Never mind how much he misses what they had.

When Grian turned red for the first time in LL, he goes to team with Joel. I can’t remember if they were the only reds but the thought process is “If I have the most unhinged person on the server next to me, we’ll survive like last time because everyone’s too scared to confront us.” Right? WRONG. Later when Joel starts on a spree, the both of them get hunted for sport.

So an unhinged partner isn’t the play. Okay, fine! Fine. Who has a good head on their shoulders?

BigB! Who rarely starts fights, rarely gets into trouble, often lasts pretty long on green, he’s perfect!

So in DL he immediately seeks BigB out as a soulmate, then a secret soulmate when they weren’t bound together. However that alliance never saw its full potential because of ren/bigb’s untimely demise.

The reason he didn’t fully stay with Scar is the same reason he sought out BigB, can’t be by someone unhinged

THEN PEARL WINS AFTER BEING UNHINGED ALL SEASON

So what on earth was he doing wrong???

Ok fine chaotic towards the start, maybe..??? He joins the bad boys and they are collectively a menace. Learning from LL, when Joel hits the murder stage he puts distance between them and immediately heads over to pearl and bigb. Pearl, who won last round being unhinged, and bigb who is reasonable and someone grian never properly teamed with.

Side tangent but he doesn’t see himself as crazy. He- he doesn’t. Pearl, Scar, and others definitely knew they were off the deep end, but Grian’s so used to explaining it away to himself that he just doesn’t realize he’s the lunatic in his relationships. He truly doesn’t. He thinks air strikes are a normal tactical thing and that cackling like a hyena afterwards is perfectly reasonable.

with the new atla adaptation, im left to wonder once again: when will people realize that adapting animation to live action will almost always never work?

animation automatically gives you a suspension of disbelief because the world not only bends around to the animation style ( such as exaggerated movements or facial expressions ) but your mind sees it and recognizes that it's not real. it's much harder to sell that disbelief when it's real people on screen who cannot move like animation does. like there's no way to mimic the way aang moves or the way the characters fight.

and if you're trying to adapt a fantasy, it needs to be a spectacle. i haven't seen any animation to live action remakes that put their all into the effects or the scenes or even just the wonder of the world.

because that's expensive and most remakes are cash grabs that don't pay their team enough nor give them enough time to actually create.

anyways, adaptations are always going to lose some of the essence of the original and that's okay but you can't lose sight of why that art was made in the first place.

hell yeah thats what i hope for! also, a bit of me lore since you mentioned P03:

way back in late 2021 / early 2022, my entire online presence was completely different than what it was now! i used to go by the alias Rook Harrison, a combination of rook from rainbow six siege and rick harrison from the pawn stars series, and it wasnt until i found inscryption that i rebranded my online presence for the first time

i completely stripped away the rook harrison stuff and placed it with P03 since he was easily my favorite character, and a month or so later is when i took inspiration from P03 to make C0D3.3! you can even still see remnants of that inspiration in the monitor head and claw arms :)

this rebrand is pretty much what shaped my entire new online presence, mostly with robots and video games, and im so glad i did it!

Wishing I was back at Graceland. ❤️

This trip was the first time in a long while where I truly felt at peace. I was so happy the entire time. I wasn't anxious or depressed, I just felt...okay. Even on the days when things would seemingly go a bit haywire (our first tour of Graceland left us wet and cold lol), we still had a blast. Everyone was sweet, welcoming, and I never felt overwhelmed.

But now I'm back home and it seems like everything is unraveling. I mean, my first day back at work and I found myself crying five minutes into my shift. All those feelings of anxiety and depression just came rushing back to me. :(

But despite that, I couldn't help but find it amazing that E is able to bring me so much joy and peace, even if it's just for a short period of time. Whenever I need him, he's there to bring me some level of comfort, whether it be through his music or his movies, or whatever else. So until I can return to Graceland, I guess I'll just look to E in these moments.

He's like a best friend that I can always count on. 💕
