My 20 Year Old Idol Husband - Day 18 - I’m Fine
20 yr old Jungkook, at the top of his idol boyband career, has a secret only he & his bandmates know – An underground relationship, with you, a girl he met at a fanmeeting. Things get a little out of hand and you find out you’re pregnant.
Tumblr media

It was a normal day for the boys as they shuffled around their studios, practicing or recording.
Namjoon in particular was getting slightly impatient.
(Last night - Namjoon)
"Alot could happen in 3 weeks."
Yoongi frowned, "couldn't she just come with us?"
Instead of waiting for Bang PD to arrive, he decided to drop him a text.
- PD nim, I have been thinking about our previous tours abroad and wondering if we can hire a billingual PR manager to come along with us for the next tour.
The reply was almost instantaneous.
- We have been thinking about it too and have someone in mind. But we found out the agency let her go and we still haven't been able to get in touch.
Namjoon took the chance and pushed for it.
- PD nim if you don't mind, I do have someone to suggest whom we have worked with during the last Europe tour. We can discuss this in detail maybe later today?
As he focused on waiting for the reply, his heart was racing a little.
Tumblr media
Why am I being nervous about this? It's not even my girlfriend...
Just then the door of his studio shifted a little and in came Bang PD with a smile.
"Oh! PD nim! Were you already here?" quickly, a wide smile came over him as he stood to greet his boss whom he hadn't seen in some time.
As the older man sank down into the cosy grey sofa and squashed abit of the Van cushion under his weight, he spoke up in a light tone.
"Namjoon-ah, why are you bothering yourself with these matters when I've already got a whole team of staff to look into such things? It's not like you haven't got enough work on your hands."
Namjoon wasn't sure if he was being scolded for being nosy or was Bang PD trying to thank him for going beyond his scope.
He sat down and with a pressed smile, began to put forth some of his plans he had been working out in his head.
"Actually, PD nim, there's this one person we really hope to have along with us..."
---------------
Back in the agency where you used to be, things were running as usual. But your co-worker and bff, Fan, had been having a hard time coping with other reporters who had no interest in the music events they covered. It was mostly a touch and go approach that left her missing you, her partner in crime, even more. Days were getting tougher and she even entertained the though of leaving altogether since there was hardly anything else to look forward to.
As she packed up her stuff ready to leave for the day, her boss strolled by with a worried look.
"Hey boss, everything fine? You look like you just lost your company."
He smirked tiredly, used to her teasing. "Thankfully not. It's just that one of our Korean counterparts have been asking for Chae-rin and it was a pity I let her go. I don't even have anyone else I could send as a replacement."
At the mention of your name, she entertained some hopes of reuniting with you.
"Then just hire her back and send her over to Korea! You do know she's IN Korea right?"
Surprised at this piece of newly acquired information his brain quickly turns the numbers and realised that it clicked.
"But wait," he said, "didn't she say something about needing to rest for her health?"
Fan quickly brushed it aside, "well yeah but it's been awhile now she's probably fine. Why don't I call her for you just to... You know, see if she fancies something like that? Oh and, which company are we talking about here anyway?"
The boss ponders, "That sounds good, Fan. It's the one.... with Mr Bang and BTS."
Her breath hitches and chokes in surprise as he catches on quickly, "What's wrong? You alright?"
"Oh nothing!" she laughs, "I'm feeling just fine! I'm fine! Yea, definitely, just fine!"
---------------------------
I'm feeling just fine, fine fine...
You wake up to the sound of your new BTS alarm, it was your favourite song of the moment after seeing the elaborate choreography and how it was such a comforting yet emotional track. You look around and find a note stuck to your phone. It was neatly written and you recognised Jk's handwriting from the numerous letters he'd written over the last year.
'Noona, (they insisted I be fair and call you that) we won't be back early tonight because of the rehearsals for the tour schedule next week. If you get bored, just get a cab and let me know where you are. The hyungs and I will be at the studio so please have a good rest and eat well. Jin-hyung says he made some soup and the kitchen is yours. Please call us if you run into any trouble at all.
-JK'
Of course, it would be a surprise if these busy idols were mopping around their house in the peak of their career. You weren't even expecting to see them altogether, recalling what a feast it was last night which only showed how long it had been since they could all rest at home together in the same space.
Finally. Some time to explore the city!
You thought to yourself, slowly reading off the messages you ignored since the night before.
There were a stream of pictures and messages from your ex colleagues and friends, as well as a few from Jungkook mainly to check if you were awake yet.
Just then, your phone rang and to your surprise it was Fan. Excitedly you answered it with your croaky morning voice.
- Ahem, ah, ah. Hello!
- Oh gosh, Chaerin, sorry did I wake you up? I didn't check the time difference!
- Don't worry it's noon here. What's up? You hardly call!
- Yeah I know, it's only been like what... Less than a week since you're gone and I'm dying without you.
You laughed at her cutely exaggerated tone which you missed.
- 4 days to be exact. It's only like what, my 3rd day here? It feels like I've been gone forever though. I miss working already.
- Really? How's your... Erm... Body? Has all the... Discomfort worn off?
You pause at her overly cautious choice of words and found it strange.
- Are you with someone?
Fan smiled, knowing how sharp you were.
- Well yes, and I wanted to ask if you really MISSED WORKING WITH US SO MUCH THAT YOU WISHED YOU COULD COME BACK?
Placing deliberate emphasis on the keywords with her back facing the boss, Fan definitely knew what she was doing and wanted you to catch on it.
- You're in the office aren't you... With, let me see... At this hour, wouldn't there only be the boss left? Hang on, are you saying he wants me to come back? Oh come on...
Giving an air punch, Fan was more than excited even though there wasn't even a conclusion.
- Not just me but before you... TURN ME DOWN, I just wanted to know it might be because you're PLANNING TO SETTLE IN KOREA?
- What are you going on about, Fan? You know full well the reason why I was dragged here! of course I have to settle here with... Well, you know who! And eventually I'll have to find a job and---
Quickly, Fan cut her short and put the phone to the boss.
- OKAY OKAY! I got that I got that! Hang on yes yes!
Nervously, he took it and tried to be as casual about it as he could. Unknown to you, there was actually a huge sum of money behind the contractual agreement which BigHit had offered. One that made it harder and harder for him to turn down or ignore. He knew the ball was not in his court and he had to get you back no matter what it took.
After half an hour of lengthy explanations and persuasion, you finally got the full picture.
- So, boss, ah... I mean, erm John, you're telling me the Korean agency we worked with, wants you to post me there as a permanent PR manager for them, while you manage the press at the Europe office, is that it?
- Yes, that's exactly what it is but of course, I'd have to hire you in order for that to happen.
It sounded like a good plan that would help keep your time occupied with income while you got a legitimate work pass to be in Korea as how you needed to. Only thing was letting them know, you'd soon be needing to use some maternity leave and that could potentially cause issues.
- But there are so many PR managers in Korea, why us and why me in particular?
- Beats me! but I know you've always outshone in your abilities and it doesn't surprise me if you were headhunted directly by them. It's just that they probably didn't know you had left the country and man, their staff are so persistent! There were a couple of mails I missed around the time you left which I ignored, since well, you left, but they've called me countless of times this morning as if they can't even wait an hour longer for me to disclose your details. But I told them I'd have to speak with you first. You know, PDPA can be a real bitch these days...
It was true.
Personal data protection was such a sticky issue that never let anyone in this media line rest. Of course, it didn't make any business sense for the boss to let another agency poach his ex-staff when he could possibly leverage on it. Anyone would. But you still didn't get it - why you?
- Before we go on, Mr John, which agency is this that has put forth such a strange request?
As if haunted by the thought, he sighed and sank into a chair.
- Apparently they said the leader made a direct request this morning for it and it became urgent. Remember the boyband you covered at your first stint? What was it again...
He motioned to Fan asking for the name of the band and she quickly showed him her Season's Greeting calendar with the 7 smiley boys.
- BTS. That's right. The Bangtan Boys.
----------------------
The day whizzed by and you were completely caught in the flurry of calls, and emails you thought you never had to open again.
In a matter of hours, you had set up your laptop and found a small empty area where you could sit comfortably and wasn't occupied by one of the boy's laundry or gadgets.
The call had ended abruptly when you told Mr John to send you the emails for your consideration since Fan was probably freaking out at both her roaming call charges and the surprise of it all.
The leader made a request this morning? That's not possible... Namjoon? But why?
Bewildered, you let the mails load by the chunks until you hear the arrival of new mail from your boss - you had always gave it a different colour code just so you'd never miss it.
As you clicked it open, you saw the unmistakable BigHit email signature and a long mail thread which you read every single word not missing any of it. You could tell it was written very directly due to the probably lack of English expertise from the local staff but was succinct and sufficient to get the point across.
It was simple. They wanted you to work for them - with lodging and everything else taken care of.
This is more than perfect!
After going through the legal and operational details over the phone with their representative, you carefully broach the subject of possible maternity leave, in the near future. To your surprise, they were not only supportive but assured you that even the expenses would be taken care of so long as you were returning to your duties after that. The only thing was that you would have to start work the day after tomorrow in view of the tour that was upcoming.
Another long flight. Packing after you've just unpacked.
With a small sigh, your eyes caught sight of the neat scribbles Jungkook left for your this morning and smiled to yourself. Well, it wasn't that bad if this meant you were able to be with him for the next 3 weeks. It had just been 3 days with the boys but the thought of not being able see, hear, and just be near him had grown so uncomfortable that it made you teary.
Hurriedly you shook these thoughts off and took a deep breath, picking up your phone to text Jungkook.
- Work hard for today Kookie, I've got some news for you tonight :)
-------------------------------
Hours later, Fan sorts out her own paperwork and ties up loose ends in the office, and prepares to take the first flight out in the morning to meet you. Unlike you, she had to get on flight soonest in order to arrive on the same day you start work.
Looking through the texts, she remembered having Jimin's number from the time when she pressed Chae-rin for at least one emergency contact other than JK's, in the event where she wasn't contactable. Picking up her courage, she decided to send him a text of her arrival... After all that you've done for her, being there for you in this uncertain period of your life, was the least she could do, of course, with some help, a surprise appearance would be the cherry on the cake.
------------------------------
The doors of the apartment swung open hastily and you hear the familiar banter of Jin, Namjoon and J-hope, as they discussed formations for the concert. They were so loud it sounded more like a party than 2 people just talking.
Tumblr media
'No, no, no... hyung, I'll change it and Taehyung will sit on Namjoon and me because -- AAAigoo Jungkook-Ah! Your big bag is in my face, watch it!' It was J-hope, the loudest of them all, sounding suddenly cautious at the silent arrival of Jungkook, probably squeezing through the door with his over-sized bag.
'Sorry hyung! You okay?' Without even looking back, he habitually kicked off his shoes and tried to mask his excitement of finally being able to see you at the end of a long day. Going straight to his room, he finds your bags sitting at the door, luggage zipped and packed like the day you arrived. With eyes wide in shock he starts going into every room in search for you and when you were nowhere in sight, he grabs his phone and starts calling you, frantically looking around the living room if you'd left him a note or something.
The older boys, especially Namjoon, calmly check out Jungkook's room to see what he was being flustered about only to be startled by sudden movements among the rack of Jungkook's black tee-shirts.
Tumblr media
'OOH! OOH! OOH! What-what -- Ahhh... you scared me!' Hushed Jin who put a hand to his chest after seeing that it was you, hidden behind the clothes. He looked extra warm and fuzzy today, in a turtle neck and glasses you seldom saw him wear.
You put a finger to your lips and motioned for Namjoon to come closer as you whispered to them. 'The company told me about your request.' You said, to the 3 older boys who were crouched down with their faces inches from yours in the dim corner. You continued, 'I'll be moving to the empty apartment next door in the morning.'
'JJINCHA???' J-hope exclaimed only to be quickly silenced by your hand.
Tumblr media
'But why're you hiding from Jungkookie?' Namjoon asked. 'You trying to make him think you're leaving? You want to prank him?'
You nodded. 'It's now or never, isn't it?' with a cheeky wink, the brothers nodded and stood up giving you an "OK" signal, and started going into their overly exaggerated acting mode.
Jin sat on the bed while Namjoon went out to look for Jungkook, and J-hope started talking loudly again. "OMO! Jungkook-ah~~ Why are all her luggages packed up again? Aigoo, Jungkook-ah!"
As the boys gathered, they thoughtfully positioned Jungkook's face in your view, a clear sign they had done this so many times for the camera.
Namjoon started on his worried low voice, asking Jungkook if there was something wrong or if there was anything else he hadn't told them about. Before Jungkook could even respond, Jin chimed in like a comedic duo with Namjoon, picking up line after line, not even letting Jungkook process what was happening.
'... and you know, its getting late now, where do you expect her to go? right? her bags are all packed and she isn't answering her phone, are you sure she didn't say anything else to you? Jungkook-ah, check your phone again, did you miss some messages?'
You watched as Jungkook stared blankly, trying to recall while he cocked his head to one side, eyes fixed on the packed suitacases in deep confusion. 'No... Noona only said she had something to tell me tonight, but... but...'
Tumblr media
'Something to tell you? Ah! That's right, she has to go back home that's why these are all packed!' Jin added quickly.
'NO!' was Jungkook's only response and you could see J-hope trying not to laugh at the innocence of this man-child. He was practically about to throw a fit at his 'helpful' hyungs in his sheer helplessness. As he mumbled unintelligible words to reason out why it wasn't possible you would leave, Namjoon decided to give it the final blow.
Putting his hands over JK's shoulder, he brought him nearer to where you were hiding as if to tell him a secret.
'Jungkook-ah, actually, I spoke to Bang-PD about Chae-rin.'
Jungkook sucked in a sharp breath in disbelief as he shrieked in a high pitch tone you'd never thought he was capable of. 'You, WHAAAAT???? HYUNGGGGG!!!!'
He continued, 'so I told him that for your sake, and hers, she has to move out of this place. Jungkook, hyung is sorry, I really tried my best to speak up for you but I think we can't have a girl here.'
You saw the Jungshook gifs appearing before your eyes as he froze in place, not even attempting to refute all that he heard. You made a mental note to commend his loyal and abiding nature even though it seemed like Namjoon had just turned his back on him.
After awhile, Jungkook spun around, looking at the other boys, studying their faces before going straight to J-hope giving him a deep closeup view of his bright round eyes.
'Wohhh, too close, Jungkook, too close, what-- what--' As he observed the reactions of his brothers, he stood up, surveying the room this time calmly and with sharp eyes, he realised how they had been deliberately leaving an empty space in front of his clothes. It was only then that he faintly saw some colours hidden behind the row of monochrome clothes, and took a deep breath of relief.
'Noona~ I know you're there. Come on out now, you have some explaining to do.' He closed his eyes with a satisfied grin and mild annoyance, pointing in your direction.
Slowly, you emerged bashfully, to the wind-screen wiper laughs of Jin and J-hope.
'Sorry, Chae-rin, we're just really horrible at acting no matter how hard we try. But for now I think we will leave you to deal with our little Kookie, see you outside for dinner! Bye!' In the blink of an eye, the hyungs exited and shut the door behind them as you heard their quick footsteps scurry down the hallway.
It only took you half an hour to explain the situation to Jungkook as he took it all in.
'Are you saying you'll be travelling with us when we're on tour, and when we're back, you'll be staying beside us?' He summed it all up in a sentence.
'Well, y-yes.... but Jungkook I'm going to be a company staff from now on, you need to be mindful of that especially when we're around the other people. I will have real WORK to do, not just tagging along.'
The glee on his face was so evident that you weren't sure if he was really seeing the full picture. Giving you a total embrace, you could feel his muscles relaxing slowly in your hold while he buried his nose in your hair.
'I don't care about that,' he whispered, slightly emotional all of a sudden. 'As long you're not leaving, I know I'll be fine.'
----------------------------------------
The next morning, Jungkook headed for practice early, filled with newfound vigor. They go through their routines, new formations, have meetings back to back and work from sunrise to sunrise.
A staff also meets you at the apartment, rather surprised that you had made your way to the door.
'How did you manage to get here?' He asks, slightly puzzled since it was a very secured residence.
Flustered, you blurt out whatever came to your mind. 'Oh, I met Namjoon while I was coming and he showed me the way, ha... yea that boy has good a very good memory for these things yea?'
'Ah, Namjoon? Yea, he did? I heard he doesn't request for staff directly but he specifically asked for you to be brought in as soon as possible... You guys must be close huh?'
As he opened the door to the adjacent apartment, your eyes saw the largest and most spacious loft-like studio, with full-length glass windows and light day curtains blowing in, fully furnished, open concept space. There were 2 rooms in view and a small kitchen, and a balcony. For a place like Seoul, you knew this had to cost a lot being in the same building as the boys.
The staff continued, 'there will be another staff joining us tomorrow and it seems you both are acquainted. It hasn't been sorted out where she will stay but for now, please settle in here as your home while you work with us. Since you're friends with the boys already, I guess there is no need for us to introduce you?'
You brushed it off casually, 'yea you must have had so much to do with my sudden arrival, please don't worry yourself with these trivial matters. I'm thankful enough as it is that Mr Bang made these arrangements himself.'
'Sure, in that case I will leave you and if you need any help just call for myself of any of the managers. We'll see you at the company tomorrow, Ms Chae-rin.'
As he closed the door to your new home, you pick up the shiny new card that came with a long black strap. Your passport-sized photo greeted you back with the same smile as you read the words beneath it to yourself.
BIGHIT STAFF
Strategic Artiste Management & PR Lead (BTS)
This meant a promotion in your career; a new role - not to say the least, one you've proved your worth for, but more impressively, with a team under your lead, the one to call the shots on the bulk of their public appearances, personal welfare, and the first say over the boy's schedules.
As you go through the contract that you had read tens of times over before inking it, you shake your head in disbelief. This was practically the role of a highly paid corporate nanny over 7 grown boys that the world was fawning over.
But well, who's complaining? And you knew deep down, with Jungkook by your side, you'd be more than just fine.

How it ends...
Hey guys, sorry it took so long to get this to you. I’ve had zero creative drive lately. But yesterday and today, it just flowed. Originally, LAR was going to go on for years with a wedding and kiddos and junk. But after the breakup with my ex, this is how I rewrote it. It’s mostly just an overview, with some more specific scenes in there that I’d already written. Anyway, this is the rewrite I did…
TL;DR- The end.
The act five side story was going to be a shortened version of act zero. Originally, it was planned to be a whole act following Jaska from leaving Nix Velox (his village), through to the beginning of act one when they were thrown onto the boat. It would cover his journey south, meeting Catlin, his transformation, and the torture he was put through while waiting for the ship that would take them to Paello Isle. Instead, I shortened it down to a 7 page side story.
  Here is the overview:
 Child Jaska
Chases hawk
Uses powers
Sees through the hawk’s eyes
A little older
Watches father skin an animal
Asks why they kill animals
Teen Jaska
Thanking recent kill for its sacrifice so that his people may live
Journey to Vinea
Joking with companions
Teasing his little brother
Saving Yannick from the bear
The change
Jaska wakes from his dream
Over the course of the next few acts, Jaska would run into Torin more frequently, even to the point of meeting her wife. When he is out with Tonya and they meet up, Tonya gets easily angry and jealous of how flustered both Torin and Jaska are around each other.
  Torin on the Bridge
Cast: T=Torin; W=Wife
T- -waiting on a footbridge in the park, staring down at water; thinks about Jaska; flashes back to dreams; grips her hair- Get over it, Tor! It was just a stupid dream! W- What about? T- Oh, nothing. Just a nightmare. Been bugging me all day. W- Wanna talk about it? T- No, I’m fine. W- -frowns-
One day, when out with Presley and Summer, Jaska runs into Torin and Summer invites her to their next dinner party.
At the party, it is obvious that Torin’s wife is not well. She seems extremely tired and Torin takes her home early, but she is pleasant to be around.
Jaska gets on well with Lana and Brandon at his new job. Brandon (being in a wheelchair) mans the monitors while Jaska and Lana do rounds. With absolutely NOTHING happening on the night shift, the pair get up to mischief. Here are a few examples:
L=Lana J=Jaska B=Brandon
  The Race
L- -standing in doorway of security office- Bran, tell us who passes the door first. B- K… -Jaska and Lana take off running- -speedwalk thru science lab as not to break anything- -Jaska runs thru basement; Lana noes the fuck out- J- Hey! That’s cheating!! L- -on stairs; jumps banister, cuts J off- Twelve years of gymnastics, bitch! -both run past security office door; walk back panting- L- So, who one? B- Unlike you two, I was working. -J and L stare at monitors for a moment- L- There is literally NOTHING happening! You couldn’t have looked away for two seconds? B- Nope L- -throws hands in the air; walks away-
  The Basement
B- -into radio- Hey, need one of you to check the basement. Something fell over. L- -thru radio- Not it! J- -thru radio- Okay, I’ll do it. J- -enters basement, looks around, comes to a set of doors chained and locked; shines light on doors, illuminating the words painted on them in red- Don’t dead… Open inside… That makes no sense. -over radio- Hey, what’s up with the writing on the doors? L- Oh… that’s… don’t worry about that. That’s just the furnace room. Charlie, the last night guard, he did that. Big zombie movie fan. J- -thought bubble- The fuck’s a zombie? B- Keep going, over by the old computer stuff. J- -stares at door for another moment, then continues on. Finds downed item. Nothing else is out of place, no one else in basement-
Brandon warns Lana about flirting too much (in her own way) with Jaska. She denies it, then admits that she is flirting, but it’s just harmless fun and that she doesn’t like him like that.
Catlin goes through a string of jobs, not making it past the training period.
Both Tonya and Arthur express jealousy and suspicion regularly about Catlin and Jaska living together. Neither are pleased that Jaska is supporting her. Arthur never offers to help.
Between Jaska’s protective nature around Catlin and how flustered he gets around Torin, she ends things with Jaska.
One evening, Jaska and Catlin are hanging out on the fire escape and Jaska kisses Catlin. Unbeknownst to them, Arthur is on the street below and sees them. Arthur gives her multiple openings to tell him what happened, but she acts oblivious.
Arthur gets a job offer back in his hometown. He invites her out to dinner, but keeps hesitating all night. The following morning, he finally tells her about the job, then invites her to go with him, then he offers a ring.
Catlin is stunned. She doesn’t know what to think and at 19, she definitely isn’t ready. She doesn’t want to leave her friends. Arthur accuses her of being in love with Jaska, of seeing her on the balcony with him. Finally, he tells her to get her stuff and get out and he storms out of the apartment.
Catlin gathers her things, leaves her key with the doorman and goes home.
Jaska returns home from work to find a note from Catlin saying that she needs time to figure things out. Her room is empty, but for the furniture. [/end act]
The next side story opens with Catlin waking up in bed with Gypsy. What was supposed to be a few nights on the couch that turned into a one-night rebound turns into a full-blown relationship. Catlin falls for Gypsy hard and Gypsy adores her.
When a job opening comes up at the coffee shop, Gypsy recommends Catlin to her boss, but like all the jobs before, it doesn’t go well.
One day, Jake (rabbit) asks Summer how Catlin is doing and she says “Last I heard, she hooked up with a girl at the coffee shop.” He furiously blushes at the idea.
Catlin chances to run into Jake in the market. Coffee becomes a regular thing between the two.
Being single and still very possessive of Catlin, the more Jaska thinks about her out there being happy with another girl, the darker his thoughts get.
Summer comments that they haven’t seen Torin in a while (with a joke in there about how she can never remember Torin’s wife’s name – hint: she is never given a name).
At Gypsy’s urging, and an invitation from Summer, Catlin and Gypsy attend a dinner party. The evening goes well, everyone enjoys Gypsy and Catlin is encouraged to spend more time around her friends again.
Exposed to this new version of Catlin, Jaska doesn’t like who she is becoming. He confronts her about her behaviour.
 A season goes by.
  The Breakup
Cast: G=Gypsy, C=Catlin
G- I love you and I know you love me but I think there’s someone else. C- What? No! Of course not! G- Sweetie, it’s the same person it’s been since day one. You just need to see that. C- So… you’re breaking up with me? G- Yes. I love you so much, but I’m not the one. I’m just your rebound. Now you need to figure out for yourself who it is and go get them.
Catlin goes to Summer and Presley with all her stuff.
Winnie tells Catlin of an opening at the library. Catlin imagines that scene that takes place in every movie with a library where the bookshelves domino, but she’s trained to reshelve books and run the front desk. It’s not enough to afford her own place, but it’s enough to live off of. She moves back in with Winnie.
Two more seasons pass. Shows Jaska and Catlin in everyday life.
  Jaska and Torin
Cast: J=Jaska, T=Torin Jaska has a prophetic dream, wakes up confused, looking at the empty space beside him. Gets up, throws on clothes, runs out into the rain. Finds Torin standing on the other side of a bridge railing. J- Torin! T- Just go away! J- No! What the hell are you doing? T- I can’t do this. She’s gone. I can’t… J- What? T- She’s dead! J- Torin, don’t do this! What about everyone else? Everyone you’ll leave behind? Don’t you know how much that will hurt them? T- I don’t care. None of that matters. J- What about me? T- -looks at him- J- If you do this, do you have any idea what that would do to me? I know it hurts. It will never stop hurting. You’ll always miss her, and you don’t feel like it now, but you will learn how to live without her. You’ll get stronger everyday so it will hurt a little less. Torin, please. You are so important to me. T- -lets go of the railing to cover her face and cry- J- -grabs her and lifts her over the railing to safety-   Jaska sits with Torin through the night until she falls asleep, carries her to Catlin’s old room
T- -wakes, goes to Jaska’s room- J- -wakes at the sound of the door- T- Sorry, I’m gonna… J- -pulls back the covers- Come on. T- -sniffs, hurries to the bed and climbs in, falls asleep cuddled up with him-
J- -wakes to find Torin watching him- Hey… T- Hey. You must think I’m crazy. J- No, I think you’re hurting. When my mother died, I was lost. My father didn’t know how to help. He had my little brother and a new baby to see to. He didn’t know how to help me. Mom was the only one who understood me and life without her was impossible, but I got wrapped up in helping my dad and learning my trade and one day I realized… it didn’t hurt like it used to.

Rites of Passage - Day 46
Congratulations Brian, Crow, and Steffen. 46 days ago, you and 23 other castaways returned to Tumblr Survivor to seek revenge, redemption, or a mix of the two.
The three of you have done what 23 other players could not do. This season has been unpredictable from the beginning, and it could still go a myriad of directions before a winner is declared.
One final immunity challenge stands between you and the chance to plead your case to the jury as why you should be given the tittle of Sole Survivor. However, before that, it is tradition to reflect on those who you have eliminated from the game; directly on indirectly.
Welcome to your Rites of Passage.
Tumblr media
Brian
Unfortunately, we never talked and I didn’t get to know you but you were mentioned so many times throughout the season so you’re clearly a legend.
Steffen
Oh the babe, you probably wanted more out of the season to be honest huh, but I mean at least you set a record, the very first 26th placer in TS history, and what’s really more important????  Tho in all seriousness coming from a first boot season, this spot holds a very special place in my heart so please enjoy it.
Tumblr media
Brian
I believe we played together before in Niue and clicked and we didn’t really get to click here, but you were also apart of some alliance to kill me??? So oops.
Crow
Seemed like a really chill guy, but ultimately went after Brian way too early, so you had to go - plus your work schedule didn't seem to help much
Steffen
I think we’ve now done 2 side seasons together and we still haven’t spoken a word to each other, so this is where I will bust out the classic MJ line “he was a fighter”
Tumblr media
Brian
Robbedt queen.  Wish I got to know you more.
Crow
I feel like you could have gone really far had you avoided becoming an early target, and I didn't like voting you out, but we didn't click well enough for me to go out on a limb
Steffen
JESUS CHRIST GURL, literally when I saw your name pop up on the cast announcement, I felt like a wave of joy wash over me because you are one of the best people I’ve met and I was hoping we could replicate our damage in Westeros and Myanmar, but alas no.  Your exit pre-merge was probably one of the saddest moments for me, because I knew you had so much left to offer, and the villains did you dirty girl <3, hopefully one day we’ll reunite then but at least I can try and do you proud like you did me proud in Myanmar and India.
Tumblr media
Brian
I could honestly write pages upon pages upon how amazing you are and how great of a person you are (even though I’m one of the few who thinks that dkjasdhsja).  We clicked super well in this game and most likely would’ve been a duo for a majority of the game, if possible.  I’m glad we met here because you’re currently one of my really good friends (because we literally talk abt random shit all the time) and you make me laugh 24/7 and yea.  You’re the bestest. <3
Crow
King of absolute mess and chaos, I love you. Had I been rocked out by you, these words would be much different, but karma got ya babe!
Steffen
We’ve had some interesting experiences together, or at least me getting you voted out and hosting your messy butt several times, and though we did not really speak this season I just wanted to say….you “ROCK”
Tumblr media
Brian
The tea is that you were in some alliance to kill me earlier in the game so although I was working with you for a majority of the vote you went and told you when it looked bleak, I guess I’m kinda okay with you being an early boot since you woulda caused more harm against me than not.
Crow
I will always remember two lines:
"I'm REALLY wet."
"Crow u absolute fuckwit"
good times good times...
Steffen
One of my All-Star fam, like sure we weren’t the closest but like I got to know you slightly better this season than last time just because uhhhhh……yeah I guess you went to summer camp with Nick, I’m not sure what happened, but thanks for giving us the amazing gif.
https://media.giphy.com/media/Kw2cu2woOVWIo/giphy.gif
Tumblr media
Brian
UGH.  It sucked that the round you went the way you went and I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you.  You know I wanted to work with you and even though we would only talk every once in awhile, it was like one of those unspoken, “We’re good, right?”  Love ya, bud.
Crow
Another really chill guy but ultimately we never bonded and you threw my name out to people so it was just another pick-off vote unfortunately
Steffen
Well LIE-nus, sorry Ting Ting stole my keyboard for a second, but ANYWAYS, my next Myanmar babe, and Solomon step-child I guess, maybe I’m your uncle, but either way I did not expect to see you go so soon, I was hoping to have you around longer this season so either I could have more Hoenn fun with you or get revenge on you for Myanmar, but just like Ashley, you went too soon and I know you had so much left to offer you bum, also I feel jipped, I wanted to hear more about you Sexcapades……that’s a dream for another day huh, be safe.
Tumblr media
Brian
I was SO ready to finally work with you in a game, Ruthie, and it was unfortunately just not in the cards but KNOW that you’re the true hero of this game. <3
Steffen
OK, worst, hero, vote out pre-merge ever, you did not deserve it, but you weren’t in any of the big alliances on the heroes tribe and just became an easy out for the entire tribe leading to our second unanimous vote of the season.  You know that I love you to the world and back as one of the sweetest people here ever, in All-Stars I literally called your appearance as a hero didn’t I, and I was hoping that I wouldn’t vote you out like a billion times again, but alas that didn’t happen.  I will say though, I will always values the Darren Criss Swimsuit Photos you sent me while I was in Canada, WOOOOOOOO, those things were….STEAMY.  Can’t wait to attend the wedding <3
Tumblr media
Brian
You voted me and I still will never know why I was your best bet but go off!  I’m glad we talked more and got to bond about being the bottom of the villains for a little bit following Arendelle.
Crow
BOI! Let me tell you....Richie's bluntness scared the shit out of me because I'm blunt but Richie had every reason to call me out so I thought he might expose me yikes!
Steffen
I feel we had much more we could’ve done together, but like our past is limited with Kanto and me hosting you in Arendelle where you played a very dominant game the entire time and I have no doubt you could’ve done a lot here too, but alas the destruction of Arabia had to finish with you, and while it was sad, at least Pippa got vindication because you stole her Ciera Eastin, so in a way I guess it’s Karma?
Tumblr media
Brian
We literally never work well together in games, even when I think you have my back lol, so I knew this time would most likely be no different.  You were the first “blindside” of the game (being a hero in a vote with majority heroes was shookening), so be proud!  Clearly a threat.
Crow
Steffen
Listen up you little toad (and you know I say that with love), I forgot if you were the first or second person I told about the Fukushu idol, but like you were a tru hoe to me, because as far as I’m aware, you never told anyone about it and I value that so much.  It was sad to see one of my Solomon host parents leave the game, but it happened at the right time cause you’re capable, scary and just incredible at this game, had this literally been any other season you would’ve made merge, but because this season is satanic, unfortunately you left us early.  Missed you babes, but hey, we can talk about V3 now because I finished it, and WOW, you were right, the emotional trauma didn’t stop there, GOD THAT GAME….it’s a lot.
Tumblr media
Brian
I don’t know if we ever talked so um.. Yea! Lol
Crow
Steffen
While we never talked a lot this season, you were so willing to help along with the tribe, and you were a super helpful hoe when it came to designing stuff for Sunda, you really came in clutch for that season, so thank you for that, but I’m sorry this season ended for you a little earlier than you would’ve liked, but we still don’t know what happened to the Brawn idol after you left with it, did you just punch production and stole it so they couldn’t rehide it? Maybe you knocked them out and just ran to your jetski back to the states?  Either sounds like a plausible course of events.
Tumblr media
Brian
Honestly? Another robbed player.  I was so looking forward to working with you after what I had been told by Mr. DK himself and it did not disappoint during the time we were together.  I hope we can stay in some sort of contact because you’re p cool. :P
Crow
Y U NO SURVIVE OVER JUNIOR UGH. Had you just hung on til merge we would have been such amazing allies and I truly feel you were ousted way too soon.
Steffen
I think we only talked indirectly in the main chat to each other during the Celebrity Big Brother sim we made as a cast (Bless be Raven Symone and her win), but being a past host of yours and you almost casting me in Bora Bora (which shame on you cause I could’ve met Jenn sooner) I was hoping we could’ve talked more but I think it got too awkward to do it as the pre-merge progressed, but either way, we can do another CBBUS sim after Japan is over if we’re both still around, I don’t know what happened to you, maybe you’re in the great beyond for all I know dgsakjhfg.
Tumblr media
Brian
Tumblr media
Crow
My Great Lakes villain buddy! You are certainly a.....character, but you also survived far past your expiration date because of your.....unique gameplay style. Wish you could have made merge so that your antics could be used as a shield for mine :(
Steffen
BOI, wow, ok you were a hectic person from literally my minimal exposure to you and your game, I’m just happy you were taken out early enough because I would’ve been terrified what chaos you would’ve caused later on, and I’m sure it would’ve been appropriate of the villain name, so 6 brownie points for staying with the Theme of the season, you Go Kage Coco.
Tumblr media
Brian
I believe we played together once before and don’t know if we ended on good terms!  If you’re NOT the same person I’m thinking about, y i k e s.  We didn’t talk so I’m kinda half happy you went premerge, but like rip.
Crow
My not-so-much-of-a-buddy fellow Great Laker - You were robbed by Steffen not me SO WE CANT SAY I BETRAYED GREAT LAKES! But you just kept lying to me so I didn't see us ever working together......but hey, you didn't get last?
Steffen
Ok so I feel there’s still a lot of things that need to be said to you and I know I pissed you off with the decision to vote you out coming out of left field seemingly, but there was actually reason behind it.  I know you claimed to have loyalty to me, and there is no doubt in my mind you were, but I saw you being a threat to my well-being in this game, in this game we need to play steps ahead, and when I was looking at you, I saw someone who would make it deep, you were going to take the spot that I, and everyone else wanted in this game, you were going to take up a finalist spot that could’ve been someone else’s, and I know I hurt your feelings, but I wanted that spot, and when Crow played Andrew’s hero idol, it felt like the right thing to do.  I know you wanted to do so much more this season especially after going out first in Great Lakes, you exceeded everyone’s expectations and I want you to know that, so you could be proud of what you did, I’m sorry you were taken out, and hopefully we can find a resolution later babes <3.
Tumblr media
Brian
Honestly, I wish we talked more because from the 1 or 2 convos we have had, you seem pretty interesting and fun.  Also, you were literally robbed because of your association with Sarah and that sucked, but I guess I’m just happy I didn’t vote out someone I could’ve probably worked with and enjoyed working with (because there are definitely some people I didn’t vote out that I hated working with in games past just to be loyal dajksd).
Crow
My true f2 (ha. fooled u all!) I still liked her more than most people in the game despite her 25 days of silence oop!
Steffen
Well Kokichi Oma, I hope the Secret Crime Syndicate of more than 10k people you’re running is going well, it sounds fun.  Kendall we talked about Japan so much prior to the beginning the start of this season, like we were ready to be villains, turn shit up, but then…..we were both named heroes, which I’m not sure either of us were suspecting, god knows I’m not one anymore.  Voting out you was a hard decision, as anyone will tell you, I waited so long to make that decision, but at the end it seemed like the move that would bring me closer to my goal, and while I had to vote out a very good friend because of it, I did it for me, but also, for our lord and savior, Monica, I did it for Monica. https://prnt.sc/guvka7
Tumblr media
Brian
One of the big 4 of the merge!  You vs. Sarah was probably the most interesting of all the big conflicts of the merge.  While you being rocked out most definitely benefited my game, it sucks to see such a big player be taken down in such a shitshow.  But I guess just recognize like we all did that you were one of the best players in this game.  Also was def fun kinda working with you. :P
Crow
Okay we use "robbed" a lot, but this man was a victim of aggravated assault, armed robbery, attempted murder, etc with that one silly rock. Not sure he's a hero though.....but the fact that he was eliminated with no votes cast against him is iconic af
Steffen
Ok, I owe so much of my game to you, you helped me form alliances, hell you helped me find the Shokan idol, and that was something that helped me keep my cool, ok not so much cool as less paranoid comparative to All-Stars, but you helped me so much this season and I just wanted to say thank you.  I didn’t know what to think of you from Solomon, but spending so much time with you, I now know why you could’ve won that and this season, you were aggressive in you strategy sure, but your social game was on POINT, had you not gotten rocked out I’m sure it would’ve been near impossible taking you out after it.  I know you probably hate me for holding onto our idol when it could’ve been used to save you from being rocked out, but I needed to keep myself safe above anything else, I figured things were already going to rocks with the idol talk, so knowing I could be in jeopardy, I held onto the idol, at the expense of your life in this game, I know you’re going to get past 2nd merge boot eventually and win a season like I know you can, it’ll happen I swear.
Tumblr media
Brian
okay mom!  I’ve missed you for the last 2 weeks!  Dad’s cool and all but like, he’s got nothing on you.  It was super great to meet you in this game because you are genuinely the first female I’ve had a successful alliance with ^~^ In addition to THAT, you’re also legit one of the best allies I’ve had in a game before and I literally adore you beyond belief.
Crow
Our trio of me, you, and Brian was the best thing in this game for me honestly! Thank you for the idol, it allowed me to successfully piss off Trace and continue to "sheep" Drew! You deserve to be here over me tbh and that's the tea! You were my favorite ally from any of my seasons and I have no shame saying that in public. I wish I could have voted with you but I had a deal with Pippa to not vote her out and I couldn't go back on that.
Steffen
Wow ok, I feel we had a Hallmark movie based around missed connections, whether it was just in this game, or how we were both in Toronto on the same day and couldn’t meet up, don’t know which is the real travesty tbh.  While we were talking about trying to build on our relationship since Sweden ended before we could really get to know each other, we wanted to establish something, but when we met at merge, I didn’t stick with the alliance we made at the first vote, then voted you out at f11.  That stunt with the Modoru idol WOW, had that actually worked, we would’ve been in a mess during the season, because 3 idols were played that night on top of yours, had everyone known about them, that chaos would’ve been insane.  You never went down fighting and were always looking for a new angle to unite everyone to save yourself, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and you were reunited with Kendall in jury, next time we end up in Toronto, lets grab a drink.
Tumblr media
Brian
We.. uh.. Never talked… yikes.  But I heard you were a sweetheart from everyone!  So yay you!
Crow
Dom......I tried to talk to you but we were always on different wavelengths and then you voted me at instant tribal which hurt my widdle feelings : ' ( you're probably the only hero who actually deserves to be called a hero, besides maybe Trace?
Steffen
This soul, SWEETEST MAN EVER, I do not have a single bad thing to say about Dom, what Jimmy said about me in ROP in All-Stars is what I have to say about Dom now, we play these games to meet people and enjoy them, and Dom is the embodiment of that, we talked about anime and manga and all the nerdy things, it was amazing, he even turned me onto Assassination Classroom, and besides having Ass in its title twice, it was amazing and I recommend that to anyone who wants a new show to watch, cause its SO GOOD.  Seeing you go home Dom lit a fire under my butt, I felt betrayed and I knew I needed to turn something out to avenge your death, so I worked hard and I guess I made f3, so thanks for inspiring me and giving me that fire to do this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brian
Honestly, I hope you understand that I came into this game scared to play with you because we do know each other and you know a lot more about me than I wish you did lol.  I did want you out from day 1 and you lying to me day 4 (and multiple times past that, most notably during the round you left) really proves that I had the right thoughts about you.  It was nice to play with you and reconnect.  Not a bad guy, just a snake of a player.  And that’s the tea on that.
Crow
I have a feeling you're mad at me from the lack of snaps since your elimination, and I completely understand it, but you asked me to choose between you and Brian and I chose Brian. It was a really shitty choice to have to make, but I felt like it was better for my game in the long-run. Maybe not. We'll just have to see how this all shakes out.
Steffen
Seeing you in the season, I honestly did not know how to feel to be frank, I never knew where we stood after Myanmar played out, so I was afraid to start talking to you, but then as things began progressing, I found myself getting along with you and enjoying your company, we called and talked much more than we ever did in Myanmar and it was a welcome surprise.  I know that how everything may have ended may have seemed like a petty form of revenge for Myanmar, but I swear it was not.  You were playing an incredible game in the middle and everyone saw it, and that’s where the problem lay, everyone began to see it, and you as a threat as a result.  I feel you broke once your name started going up, but you never gave up, even that “idol” you played, I’m pretty sure you saw it on my face, I was crapping bricks cause that came out of nowhere.  You are incredible Tommy, thanks for rebuilding things from Myanmar <3.
Tumblr media
Brian
While I did want you out on day 1, despite literally everyone I’m close to yelling at me for wanting you out as early as possible, I’m glad we were able to talk through our beef and although you did lie to me and play dumb during the final 8 vote (which returned some lies back at you), I will overall have the weight lifted off my shoulders that we are at least now on good terms.  And it won't be so fucking awkward if we're ever in a chat/game tg again hopefully!
Crow
...I....I have never felt more guilty about a vote than you, because you had never voted me, given me an idol, and saved me at instant and I failed to repay you in any regard. If you roast me at FTC, if I make it there, don't hold back. The only reason I voted for you was because I couldn't throw a vote or vote Brian so it was a really really terrible choice. I had no intention of being separated from you so soon....
Steffen
As much as you don’t like to admit it, you had so much pull in the beginning of merge, it felt like you way of words could convince me to do things and it felt that you were just getting your way, and while it was incredible to watch, it was also terrifying.  Despite the anime’s we talked about, despite V3 and the emotional trauma it put us both through, I knew I had to put that aside and help vote you out.  There’s a reason you won so much Andrew, you’re incredible, likeable and a good friend.  I hope one day we can get our date at Buffalo Wild Wings again, maybe even go to the Barnes and Noble again….or was it Books A Million, I don’t know, but next time I run into the parking lot like a mad man, I hope its you driving the car that nearly kills me. https://peopledotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/rosie-odonnell-435-6.jpg?w=435
Tumblr media
Brian
Okay, don't get me wrong, you’re a nice guy to talk to, and I told you you were going (without the knowledge that Steffen was flipping again lol), but you would constantly just lie and lie and lie and lie and… I think you get the point.  You and Tommy were very similar in the sense that you did what was best for you, lied about it instead of being open, and then you would get all upset when stuff didn’t go your way [Tommy was more passive in that sense] (i.e. when you called Crow and I goats for voting you out despite you voting against us both rounds!).  Nice to meet you, tho.
Crow
Okay I'm sure you know this but I told a lot of people you were one to watch because of your snake-like ways and I think you proved that by weaving yourself out of so many situations... and I still think you casted that stray vote on Kyoaku! Ultimately we faced off one-on-one and Drew decided to intervene and save me, that's a pretty epic showdown in my eyes.
Steffen
Despite your feelings of me, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for being a person I could go to for emotional support when things got frustrating, or I was hurt, despite me lying to you in the game, you always put on a smile, heard me out, and consoled me, I probably called you the most in this game, which if you had told me that at the beginning of the season, I would’ve been shocked.  The way you went out was depressing because literally right after betraying you I tried making a jump back to save you, because I wanted more time to fix what I had screwed up with the lie, but a couple words to Drew during that instant tribal sealed your fate and you left much earlier than I would’ve liked.  You were amazing to me and I feel I never returned the amount of care you gave me and I wish I could change that, but I can’t.  I will never forget the Rude Ass Chat alliance we made with Jenn to dominate the season, but it ended almost as soon as it began, maybe in another season tho, I would love to replicate it.
Tumblr media
Brian
Rocked out QUEEN.  I wish we did get to talk more and go to final 2 together because iconic catfish duo (Charlotte and Nicky are quaking) and I, again, apologize for lying that entire round, but I did what I had to do for my own personal benefit and you or Trace dying going into final 5 was my best bet.
Crow
I know I burnt you when I voted out Andrew and so similarly to him, if you wanna roast me at FTC, go for it. You were hilarious to be on call with and gave the cast a very light-hearted vibe which helped alleviate some of the stresses of this game. And I wouldn't be here, or at merge even, if it weren't for you...
Steffen
Coming to you live from Connor’s Basement, ITS……..PIPPA AND THE BOYZZZZZZ, we never really talked as much as I’m sure as either of one of us wanted to, but I just want to say you were such a delight in the game, it was fun to pull your leg during the time you outlasted 5th boot, or when you doubled your day count, but you were amazing.  You were always ready to go to rocks during the insane amount of time we could’ve, even when I was considering sending the first merge vote to rocks, or at least when I thought I was, you were telling me that it would be ok and to be iconic, your attitude during this game when I used to be so stressed in the past was just so refreshing and I loved it.  We didn’t start the game off the closest but it grew and I hope to hear the conclusion of your dress story after all is done. Also you are and will forever always be my rock queen <3. https://media.giphy.com/media/3SJgfvvLwDR4c/giphy.gif
Tumblr media
Brian
You know I love you so much and I’m sorry that I did what I did, but I was not about to be called someone’s goat again when I for fucking sure knew that I was playing my own game.  And people were basically saying, “Oh, Drew’s winning yup!”  I’m sorry, yes I am, on a personal level, but on a game level?  I did what I had to do.  But I still love you.
Crow
Drew, I don't know where to start. I don't know how you feel about me, but I am assuming it's probably not in a good light....you went out on a limb and saved me with an idol and I didn't repay you much when I voted you out at f5. It really wasn't anything personal, but you were winning this game hands down....we had the rockiest relationship of probably anyone in this cast given that both voted for each other multiple times and then managed to become end-game allies which I promptly betrayed.....I'm disappointed in myself for how I conducted myself with you tbh, and it hurts my ego to say that. Hope you don't hate me.
Steffen
You always said during the season to me that you were ready for me to be your downfall this season, and while I tried to deny it, we knew it was coming, even to the last moment during the instant you left, I tried denying it, but we both knew what was happening.  I will always cherish our late night calls, including ones where we got emotional and dished all this game info just because screw Japan, it was just a game, we laid out every advantage in the game, including your 2 idols, my shokan idol, the modoru idol, like everything was laid out, except Andrew’s idol and Trace’s Legacy Advantage.  Talking to you felt like some safety, because you had been my ally in the past and you were through so much of this game and I am so grateful for you Drew, I truly am, and despite me being garbage, I just wanted to let you know that.  We drifted away towards the end, and I became less negotiable with the votes, but we both knew we came here to play and we drifted apart.  You were a friend Drew, you listened when I was sad, we dished when we were happy, you had the closest inside look into my game in the beginning, I know its slightly tainted now, but one day I hope we can rebuild it to where we can talk about Gilmore Girls and our terrible love lives on end again. http://image.prntscr.com/image/9f0d402836294caf8d7f17e7022b89f4.gif
Tumblr media
Brian
A tru hero king.  I’m glad we did get to know each other, even if it was at the bitter end.  You’re a standup guy and a sweetheart.  And you truly didn't deserve the exit I watched after the fact and I'm sorry it happened that way.
Crow
Okay I still giggle a little at us making final four and making hardly any connection whatsoever. If I end up 3rd, you can spam by inbox with "I told you so" all you want, but I've been screwed over by last-minute pleas before, and I wasn't willing to go down that road of regret. Plus, I think you would have kicked my ass in final 2 so with your legacy advantage, maybe I made a play that gave myself a chance at 1st or made myself 3rd, I don't know.....
Steffen
BABE <3, we weren’t the closest before Johnny’s departure, but since then we called, we had a good time, and despite my lies to you, you always had a smile and were willing to take me back, I feel like I was a bad boyfriend to you in a sense.  Our rants to each other about the game and how we were escaping with no votes cast against us….you know until that fateful night that Pippa and Drew left, but before then we were cruising.  It was sad to see your precious golden locks go, but you went on your hair journey this season and it was amazing to watch, I can’t wait to see the pink pompadour you’re rocking in jury tbh.  While I may have lied to you in the past, I was not going to let you go out with a lie, so I tried to be truthful, however late it was, love you Trace and I’ll see you soon <3.
Tumblr media
Your FINAL immunity challenge will be tonight at 9pm EST, followed immediately by the winner of the challenge casting the final elimination vote. Congratulations, and good luck.

People seem surprised that a divisional road game was way too close for comfort.
It’s almost like they forgot that the Giants were 0-2 when the Eagles need a 61-yard field goal to win the first matchup back in September.
That doesn’t excuse Sunday’s atrocious defensive performance, but we should all know better than to expect mid-December blowouts and we should probably just stay off of Twitter until the second half begins.
They came from behind to get the job done, just like last week. There’s a cornball saying about teams that find a way to win even when they don’t play well, and this squad fits the bill.
It was 20-7 Giants when LeGarrette Blount failed to convert a 4th and 1 and it looked like the Eagles were headed for a bitterly disappointing, dog shit loss. Then the defense came up with a key interception, the special teams unit blocked a punt, and the offense converted twice to make it a 21-20 game. What followed, then, was a back-and-forth second half where the Eagles simply made a few more plays than the Giants.
What now? It’s home against the Raiders, home against the Cowboys, home in the playoffs. If the Birds get it done on Jesus Christ’s birthday, they shouldn’t have to travel again until you know what game.
Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Stop being a whiner and celebrate your 12-2 football team.
1) Nick “The Franchise” Foles
24 for 28, 237 yards, four touchdowns, zero turnovers.
Yea, he misfired and double-clutched on a couple of looks, but that’s to be expected when starting your FIRST GAME OF THE YEAR ON THE ROAD AGAINST A DIVISION RIVAL WHILE BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH YOUR RECEIVERS.
They came out passing the ball to get him going early, which we all knew would happen. Any thoughts of going run heavy, which I doubt Pederson was going to do anyway, went right out the door when the Birds quickly found themselves playing from behind.
The offense really did not change at all with Foles in there.
They ran the run/pass option, sometimes effectively…
…and sometimes ineffectively:
The biggest positive, in my mind, is that Nick showed off a lot of the traits that make Carson Wentz effective. He shrugged off a defender with a head fake and step-through. He took hits in the pocket. He connected a few times while rolling right. He went through his progressions and picked out a variety of targets for scores, just like Carson. All four touchdowns were caught by a different player.
Sure, it’s only one game against a 2-11 team, but that performance should significantly assuage the concerns of fans who were ready to throw in the towel.
  2) Giving credit where it’s actually due
I thought we might be in for a hell of a ride when Stefen Wisniewski was ruled out for this game, meaning that the Eagles were rolling out a backup quarterback playing behind a backup left tackle and backup left guard.
They went with Isaac Seumalo over Chance Warmack, which I think was the right call. Anybody who studied the film of Wis vs. Warmack earlier this year saw the limitations in the latter’s game.
Now, take a deep breath and ask yourself, how many times did you hear Seumalo’s name on the broadcast? How many times did you hear Big V’s name called?
The one that jumped out was this play, where Eagles’ Twitter was quick to pounce:
Big V looking like a NYC turnstile #FlyEaglesFly http://pic.twitter.com/Skj5Npn0fy

We’re always ready to jump on Vaitai when he does something wrong, as if the guy is gonna be perfect in every single game. He rightfully deserves criticism for that sequence.
But I didn’t see a lot of people giving him credit for this textbook block:
And I didn’t see a lot of people give him credit here either:
In fairness, they were probably focused on Jason Kelce pancaking a guy 20 yards from the line of scrimmage.
Yeah, Vaitai he got beat badly on the strip, but he was mostly sound otherwise, especially in the running game. And you have to consider that, when Jason Peters went out, they initially gave him help in the form of a tight end or RB to help on the left side. That’s been slowly drawn back every game since, to the point where he’s on his own for a lot of these plays.
The thing that annoys me is the bullshit cherry picking of negative plays because the guy is a backup. Then, when it comes to giving credit where it’s due, you don’t hear much at all, do you?
  3) The screen game
Have we seen a lot of this in recent games? No, we really haven’t.
But Pederson used it effectively a few times in this game, with Kelce just putting on a clinic in the downfield blocking department, which you saw in the clip above.
This was another look, with acres of space and more linemen rumbling:
One of Wentz’s limitations, at least early in the year, was his touch on these types of plays. Foles wasn’t perfect on his screen deliveries yesterday, but he put the ball in the right spot and allowed his skill players to take it from there. They gashed the Giants a few times with well-timed and well-executed screens.
  4) Adventures on special teams
The Birds’ special teams played a massive, monstrous, monumental role in the win.
About 85% of it was good and the other 15% was nerve-wracking:
blocked field goal
blocked punt
blocked extra point
2/2 on field goals
neutral zone infraction on a punt
double-clutch on a Donnie Jones punt
line drive Donnie J special on the final punt of the game
The neutral zone infraction was a killer, but special teams accounted for a four-point swing with the blocked FG and XP. The blocked punt led to a touchdown for the offense, so you could legitimately say the ST unit was responsible for a net of +11 points on the day.
When’s the last time a team ripped off a hat trick of blocks in one game?
Eagles PR, that’s your cue:
The @Eagles are the first @NFL team to block a punt, field goal and PAT in the same game since the Buffalo Bills on 11/24/91 at New England (blocked 2 FGs, 1 PAT and 1 punt). (@EliasSports)#FlyEaglesFly

  5) The defense…
This requires its own 2,000 word video breakdown, and maybe we’ll do that Tuesday, or just say “fuck it” and move on.
The energy was lacking, the game-plan was kind of crappy, and the tackling was again subpar.
If you go back to the first Giants/Eagles game, you probably recall that the Eagles played soft and allowed easy underneath routes, since Chris Maragos and Rasul Douglas were forced into starts because of the absences of Ronald Darby, Corey Graham, and Rodney McLeod.
The game plan was to allow those short passes while not letting yourself get beat deep by Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall.
In this game, you saw a lot of the same, with Eli Manning throwing early, the Giants running up-tempo offense, and the Eagles playing with a big cushion:
You see Mills and Darby playing almost 10-yards off there, with McLeod as a single-high safety and Malcolm Jenkins assigned to the tight end inside.
And because of that, they were getting killed underneath, or biting on those slant-and-go (sluggo) routes for huge gains:
Manning finished with 434 passing yards.
434!
He only has two 300+ yards this season and both are against the Eagles.
With the Giants banged up and missing a bunch of key players offensively, they should have pressed these scrubs into oblivion. Instead they played soft coverage and got burned all over the field.
There were some positives, however, and Brandon Graham had a huge tackle for loss to complement a Darby first-half interception. They got enough stops to win the game, but hardly inspired in a woeful defensive performance.
  6) Ref, you suck?
I didn’t spy a ton of bogus crapola from this crew, but the Giants clearly got away with a pick play on the second touchdown. Not like it matters, since the Eagles’ tackling was shambolic after the catch.
The other one that jumped out at me was the Nigel Bradham/Shane Vereen dust-up, where Bradham got the ole’ retaliation flag. That stuff drives me crazy. If you see two guys engaging in handbags like that, just flag ’em both, let the penalties offset, and get on with life.
At the end of the game, I think the refs got the two holding calls on Darby correct, and on Manning’s final pass of the game, I don’t think it was a catchable ball anyway, was it? Either way, there really wasn’t a ton of contact.
  7) Run me sideways
Without writing down the actual number, I felt like we saw more east/west runs in this game.
I hated the outside zone and shotgun sweep plays earlier in the year because the line wasn’t great at creating seams and Blount wasn’t great at getting through them. Darren Sproles, however, was another story. Corey Clement did okay on those looks and Wendell Smallwood was decent, too.
But I feel like they can feature that play again because Jay Ajayi does a much nicer job of staying low, finding the gap, and turning up the field:
If they insist on running those east/west designs, he’s the guy that should be handling the rock. Blount would have turned that play into a one-yard loss.
  8) Doug’s worst call?
It was probably the decision to challenge the incomplete pass in the second quarter. That’s a low upside play and wasn’t exactly critical at that point in the game.
As far as play-calling, I didn’t like the fade on 3rd and 5 in the end zone. I might be alright with Wentz throwing that ball, but I’m not a fade guy in general, whether it’s football or hair cuts.
  9) Doug’s best call?
They didn’t convert, but going for it on 4th and 1 in the second quarter still made sense. You were 12 for 12 at that point, now you’re 12 for 13. So instead of 100% conversion rate, you fall to 92.3% on the year. Big deal. Blount up the middle is fine there. They would have ran a sneak if Wentz was in the game and did try it with Foles a little bit later.
Blount gets stuffed on 4th-and-1, Eagles had been 12/12 on 4th-and-1 this season before that play. http://pic.twitter.com/40bSJYWX7a

I also agreed with the decision to kick field goal in the fourth quarter to force the Giants to drive the length of the field for a touchdown. Take the points there. No need for a possibly killer momentum swing.
Overall, I think Doug did a nice job of establishing Foles’ passing ability early and put him in a position to be successful.
  10) Alshon Jefferies and Wayne Gall
We got Thom Brennaman and Chris Speilman for this game.
I’m pretty sure I heard Brennamen say that Evan Engram went to college at Alabama. He did it once in the first quarter and once in the second, but Engram didn’t go there, he went to Ole Miss. He also referred to Wayne Gallman as “Gall” on one play:
“Swings it out of the backfield to Gall..”
Huh?
We also got an Alshon “Jefferies” from Speilman, which I think happens every other game.
Also, a lot of talk about Dean Blandino on Twitter. Obviously the guy is relatively new to TV and looks somewhat uncomfortable on camera, but I think the issue is that they shouldn’t be double-boxing him anyway. He needs to be looking at a monitor at the same time his shot is up, so I think the better way to do it is just place his audio over the live picture and let him talk while checking different replay angles. It’s goofy when the broadcast team is saying, “yea you can see here on the replay…” while Blandino is looking at the camera. He should be looking down at the same replay the booth has, so he can reference what they’re talking about.

I love layovers..
You may ask “Why?” But when they are long enough, you can see a city (or even a country) on the way to your final destination. Which was just what we did with a 14 hour layover in Toronto, Canada on our way to our 10 hour layover in London, UK on the way to Greece last year. Yea, two long layovers, most would be pissed less than happy. For us, we actually requested it! Neither of us had every left the Toronto airport. So before we move away we need to see our own country!
Enter the red eye flight from Fort McMurray to Toronto. We got in nice and early (read 6am) and luckily our bags stayed checked all the way to Greece for us, with the exception of our carry ons. We had spent time reading up on how to make the most of our layover and found that you could get a cheap “Long Layover” type ticket on the UP Express (Union-Pearson Express) for $12 return per person. Get your tickets here or right before you board the train.  The train takes 25 minutes to make it from the airport all the way downtown to Union station, which is dead centre of Toronto and where all the action takes place. If you are in the airport, you just follow all of the signs that look like a train, you’ll go through some walkways over the road and up escalators, around corners.. just keep following or ask for directions. It was a bit confusing at first. Please take note: You must return in 7 hours to take advantage of the Long Layover ticket.
So, I was pretty foggy by this point, as I do not sleep well on planes. AT ALL. Not to mention the scare we had prior to even leaving Fort McMurray, where I had misplaced my phone. Yea, who can go traveling for almost 2 weeks without their phone. A $125 cab ride later, my phone had fallen out of my purse when our friend came to get us and was on the floor of our living room under the coffee table. Frantic search and possibly a photo radar ticket for my speeding cabby, I didn’t miss the flight and still got my last Caeser before leaving Canada.. Side note: Fort McMurray people.. take the town bus instead of a cab. It’s a bit longer, but it’s under 2 bucks. You can’t even make it out of the airport parking lot for $2. If you live uptown you are looking at $60+ ONE WAY!! I started parking my car close to the airport and then taking the bus anytime I was flying out. Think Greely Road School.
I digress, anyways.. the places we had to go..
The Hockey Hall of Fame – Website here
Because obviously.. any self-respecting hockey fan needs to go here. Now, we were tired, and it was a bit difficult to find, but I got to touch THE Stanley Cup. The real one.. there was a nice guard chilling with it. But realistically, nobody is leaving that place with that in your bag. It wont fit. Now to get into this place, don’t be like us and walk around outside, sit down inside and be confused as shit. Google map it.. then go inside and find the stairs/escalator to the basement level.. and walk all the way to the East side of the building. South East really.. there it is. And if you are like us, you were there when this place opened because you were in Toronto sooooooo early.
Here’s some pics… GO CANUCKS GO!

More shiny things
The older stuff
Old rings from the Stanley Cup
It was pretty cool seeing all the stuff.. I was sad there wasn’t much Canucks stuff though. Although I did learn some interesting facts about the Stanley cup, like they have to take some of the rings/winners/names off because there isn’t enough space. So they straighten them out and they stay in the museum! Cool hey?
Next: We wanted to do the CN Tower.. but this was the type of day it was, so we decided not worth the time and money to look at… fog/clouds.
You can’t even see to the top. I went again a few months later when we were evacuation from the fire, sunny day. Much better, much more worth it.
Ripley’s Aquarium
Right beside the CN Tower, and a hop, skip and a jump away from Union Station is the Aquarium. Now Jamie dreams of being a Scuba Diver, and I love it as well. There is something so peaceful with seeing fish swimming. So we braved the school aged crowds of children and headed in. We could have spent hours upon hours here, standing on the moving sidewalk and just watching. You can get discount tickets on their website, and get set times to get in when it is really busy. With us, we were there on a random Thursday, so we took the chance and didn’t have to wait, but it was an extra $2-3 per person to not have bought the tickets previously online. They often have special events going on though, so it is best to check ahead if you are set on seeing sharks and nemos! Often can be booked for the evening for special parties too (put that on my bucket list), so best bet is to check their calendar of events here.
Here are some of my favorite pictures:
#gallery-0-14 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-0-14 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
And a nice relaxing video.. for good measure:
Our last stop before heading back to the airport and having some of the amazing food through the international gates?
Steam Whistle Brewing
This brewing company is just teeming with history. The building is unique, the steam whistle and it’s history is really cool to learn about, and there is nothing better than learning about beer and then getting a cold brew fresh off the line. I mean fresh.. like just capped and stolen by our tour guide. Tastes better!
The tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. You get a free beer (sometimes two) and they take you around and show you how this small time brewery made it big time. It gets loud, and it gets hot in some of the areas, but somebody gets to blow the whistle.. and there’s beer. Did I mention beer? For $10 bucks you are getting the tour and a beer.. totally worth it. Or you can check out the other packages by clicking here where you can get more beer, or even souvenir beer glasses.
Again, sometimes you can pre-book, but during the busy season and weekends it’s first come first serve. Seeing it was a thursday and midday, we just walked in and got a spot no problem. However, when we were there a month later and I was taking a friend, we walked in and had to book for one of the last ones of the day (they only had them late afternoon at that point). It is a quick little tour and it gets you all nice and warm and fuzzy for whatever else you feel like doing. For us, it made the trip back to the airport a little more bearable.
Obligatory pics of beer and beer making:
#gallery-0-15 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-0-15 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
That was all we chose to do this time around. We checked out the old Union Station, mainly because we got lost underground. We would have had time for more, but like I said, super tired from the red eye and not wanting to miss our flight to London, or have to pay extra if we weren’t back by the 7 hour UP Long Layover deadline. So we headed back early and went to “LEE Kitchen” which was through the international gates. Jamie was quite pumped about this, as was I, we watch a lot of food network and this guy is a legend. Susur Lee is on all the Top Chef, Masterchef, and Iron chef shows.. so to be eating some of his Dim Sum.. we were in heaven!
Anybody else had a good Toronto layover and make it out of the airport? Where did you go? What did you do? Tell us in the comments!
What to do with a day in Toronto I love layovers..  You may ask "Why?" But when they are long enough, you can see a city (or even a country) on the way to your final destination.
