He didn't really mean what he had said, in a way. Dream loved you, you were his weakness. Just maybe he went about it the wrong way with threatening you unintentionally. He didn't think you'd actually run off to the badlands with Sam and the others, but you did.

Maybe that was why he started walking with a slight spring in his step when he saw the badlands members slowly moving back to the smp. Bad and Antfrost, then Skeppy and Sam. Where the faction went you were sure to follow.

While commissioning his prison he brought you up to Sam having not seen your face at all.

"They're around," Sam hesitated slightly.

"Cmon Sam. You can give me a better answer than that," Dream frowned.

After a moment of silence Sam glanced over at the green individual. "No, no I can't. Now are we building this or not?"

That frown stayed on his lips, it stayed after they finished the prison, it stayed after they found that dumb egg, it stayed when Tommy beat him, it stayed when he got thrown into the prison of his very own design. But now the frown had evolved into fits of unchecked rage.

How dare you avoid him for this long. How dare the others not say where you are.

For days he hounded Sam, the poor warden listening to Dream spit and shout curses and obscenities his way. He ended up giving un two weeks after Dream's tantrum started.

He was ready. Oh he was so ready. Whenever Sam came by Dream had the perfect thing to say to him. Was it petty to think of expertly crafted curses? Perhaps. But he didn't care.

When the lava parted today Dream knew something was up. Usually the warden just fed him from the top, shuffling around like a rat above him.

He flinched. Visibly recoiled when he made eye contact with you. It wasn't the fact that he wasn't expecting you, nor was it because he hadn't seen you in so long. No. His eyes trailed over your silhouette watching the red that accented you.

It only got bolder as you approached. The red that had been distant and murky from far away was now bright and almost dripping from your form. Something was wrong.

"You wanted to see me?" You asked coldly

"I've missed you," Dream admitted quietly. "What's with all the red?"

You looked at yourself. "Oh right, nothing for you to worry your pretty head about,"

A moment of awkward silence as you stared each other down.

"Right-" he had a bad feeling. "Aren't you going to ask why I'm in here? When I'll escape?"

You shrugged moving to study the walls of his cell. "Nope, not really. I don't really care if you do or not. I've got more important things to worry about?"

"Like what?" What could possibly be more important than him on the server.

You grinned slyly back at him. "You'll see. Maybe," then you began walking back towards the exit. "Anyways my time is precious I'm bouncing," you sighed.

"Wait,"

You looked back.

"Maybe since it's been a while since you've been here you should go stay with Punz," there was a hinted undertone to his sentence but neither of you spoke upon it.

Dream watched the barrier come up and you begin to step on the platform. "I already am staying with Punz. Don't worry, we've got plans,"

And just like that you were gone. Dream didn't get a chance to apologize, not that he really would, and something weird was going on.

He waited for the lava to fall again but it didn't, instead Sam let you leave and then shortly returned. Dream watched with distaste as the warden approached.

"That's the last time they'll be coming in here," he warned.

"And why the fuck is that?" Dream snapped.

"The eggpire gives me bad vibes and I don't want them here,"

"Eggpire?"

Sam looked down at Dream. He didn't deserve to know anything going on.

"Yeah brainwash cult I don't know. Anyways throw your clock out again and see what happens," Sam warned before leaving.

Eggpire? Brainwash? CULT? What the fuck had you gotten yourself into? This new information sent Dream into a slight panic. He needed to escape, like, yesterday.

Plans needed to change. First priority? Saving you from your damn self. Second priority? Putting you somewhere he'll never have to worry about your safety again.

explanations of each design and also a bonus doodle under the cut (its arguably the best part of this)

okay first off the height was loosely based off of how big the actual countries are.

LMANBURG - i based it kinda off of the people lmanburg was for. fox ears for fundy, flower for tommy and also a homage to the whole tommy singing to flowers and that's how they got the national anthem. The glasses are for wilbur bc he kinda made the whole thing. the outfit is based on the lmanburg uniforms. the tail is because most of the people in lmanburg are hybrids so. also the hair felt hamilton-y to me and that was funny. the three hearts on the uniform is part of a headcanon im currently working on but basically its a war medal. oh btw i love the lmanburg flag its symbolic and nice and works very well.

GREATER SMP - i made the flag for this bc there isn't an official flag. the flag was based on dream obviously cause its literally his whole country. anyway the crown is because that's what the leaders wear. the under shirt isn't very fancy because none of the members wear anything fancy. the coat jacket suit thing feels very traditional and proper to me which is the same as the nation so. also i debated on what i should do for the ears bc i was thinking human ears but also like all of the people have pointed ears so i decided to go for that

MANBURG - uhm i love the manburg flag btw <3 its so good and representative of the administration and also it feels like very modernized and sleek and americanized if you get what i mean but its still very destructive and has strong "evil" connotations as well as being a mockery of the lmanburg flag. okay now on to the design. i promise promise there's a difference between the suit/hair/pants and the skin its just really slight. anyway i think it looks cool either way. the big tie gives off "false confidence / cocky / big shot" to me and i thought that worked well. the horns are there bc schlatt obviously and its almost touching the eyes bc manburg is very self destructive and will never last. the ears are human bc manburg also isn't super friendly to hybrids (headcanon??).

POGTOPIA - sorry guys but i hate the pogtopia flag it makes no sense and has no reason and also i just ugly. but alas that's the flag so ill do what i can. anyway pogtopia is very desperate and also an absolute mess so the outfit is symbolic of that. the beanie is for pogbur ofc. you cant really see it but it also has big eyebags. the fangs are half destructive and also half bc its for hybrids. the ears and tail as well are the whole hybrid bit. i think that most hybrids (if they could) left manburg which treated them badly and went to pogtopia which was for the hybrids. also the tail is kinda reminiscent of niki who to me feels like what pogtopia was for. if that makes sense.

NEW LMANBURG - i also really like the new lmanburg flag. i think its cool. anyway the eyepatch bc it looks cool and also i thought it was reminscent of how fucked up lmanburg was and how they rebuilt. the wings again are kinda phoenix-y and also peace and whatever. the flowers are again like rebirth and renewal and stuff. the tail and ears and such are again bc of the whole hybrid thing. also the outfit is like a suit-ified lmanburg uniform

BADLANDS - okay so admittedly idk shit about the badlands. so. the flag is pretty cool tho. i gave it horns like bbh and cat ears like antfrost and a mouth like sam / bbh. i did the cloak and scarf thingy bc both bbh and ponk have something like that so i figured that fit. sorry there's nothing really special about this

SYNDICATE - wooo boy theres a lot here. so the syndicate does not have a flag so i had to make one. i looked some up and there was a lot of red and black which i liked. red bc of like anarchy and shit and then black bc that's also pretty anarchy-y but also withers which. they do a lot. i put it like slashed bc its very "conflict opposing dangerous" and that works well with the syndicate. and then i saw one a long time ago that was based on their end portal table so i also added that with the border and the thing in the middle. then i added a bit of gold because i wanted to and i thought it looked cool and to me gold is a syndicate color. i gave them a crown bc both techno and ranboo have crowns so. they have a cape bc its like a secret organization and then i added fluff bc its cold in the artic. the outfit is supposed to resemble the type of outfits that techno and ranboo and somewhat niki ? so like older outfits with the corest and fancy sleeves. and then also like good boots bc they do like fighting and stuff. the hair is short as like a niki and phil thing. also the tail kinda looks like ranboo and that was kinda accidental but i like it. the ears are feathered for phil and also kinda niki and i didn't think wings fit. the clasp is an eye of ender bc of the end portal table. you'd think the syndicate would be tiny tiny but i headcanon that they have other lesser members everywhere (just random informants and such) so

SNOWCHESTER -snowchester's flag is pleasing. also i like the memes about it being close to the mlm flag. anyway the outfit is obviously inspired by ctubbos outfit but its cold and called snowchester so i figured it fit. the small horns are for ranboo. the flowers are for peace and healing and whatever and also a homage to the lmanburgs. the curling horns are not close to the eye but could grow to be bc of nukes and such. the tail and curling horns are both puffy and tubbo.

LAS NEVADAS - i love the aesthetics of the las nevadas flag its so so good. anyway the outfit is pretty self explanatory. the horns and devil tail is bc its a place of sin (casino and whatever). the only reference to the habitants are the feathered ears (quackity) bc its not reeeaaaally for the residents.

KINOKO KINGDOM - okay. okay. the flag is absolutely by far the most aesthetically pleasing flag. i love love off white its amazing and makes sense. i gave it a mushroom hat because. mushroom. the hair is a mix of tina's, sapnap's and karl's. the collar is for george, and the sleeves are for tina. the rest of the outfit is kinda for karl??? if that makes sense. and then the tail is for tina and sapnap

EGGPIRE - i also lovee the eggpire flag. it works well. anyway you may notice that there is literally no callbacks to the eggpire members. that's cause the egg literally does not give a shit about the members. its hair is long and kinda curls like the vines. the dress is about temptation and also like. not battle ready doesn't need to explore or anything just happens. if that makes sense. vines around the head and waist for the silly factor. vine tail because it looks cool

LIMBO - i just did limbo bc i didnt know what else to do. anyway limbo has a sweater bc i feel like ghosts get sweaters and then also is in grayscale because that's the commonality

okay well ive decided just now that tina gets them a big lovely handmade scrapbook and some cameras bc shes cute and thoughtful like that.

okay ive been sitting here for like 15 minutes now trying to decide what tubbo would give them but tubbo is decidedly both smarter and more thoughtful than me and nothing has come to mind yet. rest assured it would benefit all three of them (or he makes smth separate for all three) and it would be made with his own two hands no matter how long it took or how hard it was and it would be Perfect. and somewhere deep down hes saying thank you and hes saying im sorry and hes saying i love you, i miss you, i want to be close again. never with words. the two of them work so much better without words getting in the way of what they really mean. tubbo couldve gotten them the shittiest thing in the world and quackity wouldve been grateful. he doesnt know how to tell tubbo that even if it hadnt been perfect he wouldve accepted. by the time the wedding itself is over and they find themselves sitting side by side someplace quiet (just a breather, just for another moment) both of them know how the other feels anyways. the silence between them speaks louder than anything else ever could

hannah offers to take care of all of the flowers and floral arrangements for the wedding, every last one, however many they want or however detailed they want it. this, too, is both a thank you and an apology, and quackity has always loved roses. every flower in the venue is perfect. hannah’s smile and teary eyes during the ceremony are genuine.

bad and skeppy gift them something extravagant and utterly useless at first, and later something much smaller but incredibly meaningful. maybe an heirloom or pictures and stories of sapnap as a kid that none of them have seen before or something to do with demonic culture. antfrost gets them something very thoughtful and genuinely useful in spite of how wildly tempted he is to give them the worlds greatest gag gift.

tommy also DEFINITELY gives them something handmade and meaningful. could not tell you more than that but he has one of the greatest gifts of anyone easily

i cannot think of anyone else who i could even so much as guess what sort of gift they would give i simply am not well versed enough in other characters this is so sad. but these are my thoughts <3

im gonna be honest i have no idea how pink16 were so massively underrated by people i remember people predicting they’d place low and was like????? u realise this team has DREAM and SEAPEEKAY right??? that duo in and of itself is super strong. but bad and finn are also not bad players, they got lucky in the sense that bad had a terrible mcc14 (like how yellow24 got lucky skeppy had a terrible mcc14 too)

its bc on paper there were other teams w strong duos too, or teams where it seemed like every player could realistically place top 20, or teams where everyone is very experienced. just for reference sake, here’s some of the teams in mcc16:

- punz, tapl, captainpuffy, shubble

- quig, krtzyy, jack manifold, nihachu

- fruit, grian, smajor, smallishbeans

- antfrost, fundy, tubbo, 5up

- hbomb, georgenotfound, captainsparklez, ponk

- tommyinnit, ranboo, philza, wilbur

so, as you can see, there were other teams with ‘strong duos’ too such as punz and tapl, quig and krtzyy. now, hindsight is 20/20 and everything, and someone might be like ‘oh but clearly dream and cpk is the strongest duo out of these 3’ but at the time this was def not true

quig, dream, and punz are all S tier. tapl had gotten literally SECOND PLACE in mcc15, the literal PREVIOUS event. krtzyy was 5th in mcc14, and then 3rd the event before that. meaning tapl and krtzyy were top 3 placing potential players. HOWEVER, at the time, cpk had never been top 5 before, and had only been top 10 ONCE the event before. which was when he was teamed with SAPNAP AND PUNZ. so if you were like some redditor at the time you’d assume he would easily fall out of top 10 without them on his team, esp w two weaker players instead of one. ERGO, that is why people predicted punz and quig’s teams higher prior to the event. Because to them, it made sense based on the stats at the time

im not even gonna talk about the op duo on fruit’s team. because fucking every one of them could conceivably be the ‘op duo’ on any team. how the FUCK this team was allowed is beyond me. dream has literally never been on a team like this. that is why for canon events for 4/5 of the dodgebolts he’s been to his team has always been in second place. and the one time he was first was a survival games finale, and before that the team was in 4th place. they were not dominating the event lmao!! dream’s always had to fight tooth and fucking nail to get into dodgebolt in canon

anyway now let’s get to the ‘no weak player’ / ‘dominant trio’ teams

ant fundy tubbo team was a team w 3 players where they had each gotten 15th, 7th, and 9th the previous event. their weakest player, 5up, was still top 30.

hbomb, george, captainsparklez. hbomb had been 7th in mcc14, and the team composition was very similar to this team’s, w no S tier and even players who could potentially place bottom 30. if wisp, smajor, hbomb, and solidaritygaming could place 2nd in mcc14, there was no statistical reason why this team just Couldn’t. and captainsparklez was 13th his last mcc, mcc15, where he made dodgebolt. george was a player who had placed top 10 before prior to mcc16, and was a good pvper. ponk was new, but this team still had 3 good players which can be extremely op, sometimes stronger than teams w S tiers

for red team, wilbur and ranboo had just played mcc15 together where they placed 10th and 14th respectively. tommy was 17th in mcc15, but in mcc14 he placed 9th, and had always had top 10 potential, as did philza, who had an insane s1 track record, and was 15th in mcc14. in mcc15 he was 22nd but 22nd being your WEAKEST player is still very strong, so people predicted this team high too

on the flip side, at the time finn had 3 mccs played and placed 36th, 33rd, 30th. bad’s one event had him at 34th. people basically saw this, compared w other teams’ players having higher placements, and decided dream wasn’t a dominant enough S tier and that cpk wasn’t a cracked enough right hand man to bring them to dodgebolt. and they were wrong, but pink mcc16 didn’t dominate all the way through. they had a good-ish game order, and they popped off at games that people didn’t expect them to pop off in, such as ace race, and honestly that game is what brought them in contention for dodgebolt. it’s literally just about good game order. they were lucky they got to play parkour tag and tgttosawaf, which were games they were good in. they were hardworking enough to train for games such as ace race, and they were lucky dream clutched up SoT w sand and they didn’t get locked out. they were also lucky SG was played early or they could’ve been out of dodgebolt. they were lucky build mart didn’t screw them over too much. etc etc etc

basically, NOW it looks so obvious that dream and cpk were a cracked duo and that bad and finnster are good players, especially evidenced by the fact that finnster has gone on to win yet another dodgebolt in mcc23 and that bad has top 20 potential. but you can’t look at the stats before the event and claim ‘yeah this team is so obviously strong and making it to dodgebolt’ when the stats said otherwise. all you could’ve pointed out was that bad is an experienced minecraft player despite not being the strongest pvper and that finnster’s statistically good at parkour tag which would’ve been useful in that game. 16th is still bad’s highest individual placement of all canon time and in his next canon event, he placed 36th, which was even lower than his debut event placement. so mcc14 was a more realistic reflection of bad’s regular placement in mcc than mcc16 was. if anything, mcc16 is so clearly bad’s outlier when he most commonly places bottom 10. so, no, dream doesn’t get teammates that are a dodgebolt guarantee, even when he makes dodgebolt. he is just genuinely without a doubt… a good leader. cpk got top 5 for the first time teaming with him, finnster got 23rd, breaking out of bottom 10 for the first time, and bad was 16th which is miles above his 34th placement in his debut event

1) punz saying (and hbomb agreeing!!) that "pears are just worse apples" like WHAT SHIT ASS PEARS HAVE YOU BEEN EATING.

2) i was cheering antfrost on for saying lychees are goated but then i think he said that it's a good flavour like OUGH. that hurt me right in my soul. what about the fruit! the og!!!!!

3) georgenotfound. british (derogatory). i literally complained about what he said to a discord server where they don't know about mcyt and they were like. has this man never shopped for groceries. every time i, with my ego problem, think: I WOULD'VE BEEN A BETTER JUDGE!!!! I ACTUALLY APPRECIATE THEM. he actually asked "what are plums" like PLEASE...

4) durian was left for last but that's understandable :/ these are westerners after all. and sam picked kumquats second last because haha cum... which i. can. slightly, very slightly respect. only a smidge. he's on thin ice.

way, way better than mcc 24! i watched illumina again, he was on blue and he got 4th on a 9th place team. so obviously since they placed bottom half i would say it was generally very good vibes, but like this is not their fault cause... who likes losing. they had really good vibes considering they slid from 4th to 9th.

thoughts on blue: the first half was really fun and they did so good in grid runners it was so cool! their sg was really good as well. but in the second half it just wasnt good and they started getting 8-10 in games, when pkt got picked it was like super depressing; they were probably the most upset team about that maybe? i was personally also so upset because illu in sot is actually mesmerizing but yeah.

blue was not a bad team they just got their 3 best games skipped (build mart, sot, rsr). LITERALLY false and illumina’s best games it’s so unfortunate. i stand by my blue in second prediction pre-game announcement. I MISS SOT AND BUILD MART!!!

also i’m considering not watching illu live since i’ve watched him live for the past 3 mccs (kinda- in mcc23 he got subbed out so i like stream-jumped and hated it)/ aka all the mccs ive watched live. if i want consistency probably would be best to watch someone on the dteam or fruit but i dont like the dteam (in mcc) so idk. will probably stay bcuz he is my favorite streamer lol im just saying this because it is like. So stressful. he doesn’t really contribute to the team energy despite being a technical leader and it leaves a lot things up to chance.

im so happy for jojo!!! as a girl i’ve always wanted a female player to dominate in mcc and im very glad it’s jojo. this mcc didn’t have a overly dominant team and i know that her team struggled. so i think the best vod to watch is purple? 

i was rooting for punz bcuz im always rooting for punz (he’s literally the underdog) and i was watching them during pkt because blue was just like. no- 

in terms of teams i was supporting- or rather not supporting- the teams i was supporting did well! i was neutral about fruit’s team but i did not want red or cyan to win (also orange as well but that’s different). i was rooting sm for punz’ team to get into db (as i said above) and i really thought they had it! but rip. anyways, very glad they beat red.

fruitninja db curse is real even though i watched jojo. db was good- im glad it wasnt a sweep and also it was a funneling-less db which i loved. i personally just wasn’t that interested because i had been so invested in blue. illu dub maybe? maybe for the mcc18 anniversary??? i love mcc18 it’s my favorite mcc

ok so we know that ant is definitely more of a follower than a leader. especially based on today, he pushed the button while bad was doing a speech, he fucking DIED, and even quackity told him to shut up.

but he died... and the eggpire split up to go their separate ways for now.

ant is going to wake up and realize that they left him. he won't know where they went, all he will have is himself, his sanctuary, and the egg. most of the server will be against him, and the eggpire will have lost its leader, at least temporarily.

so i reckon that the eggpire might get a new leader, a new person in charge. and who better than our resident catboy, Antfrost himself.

because even his enemies think he's a follower. all of the people in charge split, who knows where they are. because the egg will be without a leader. because antfrost is tired of being only a follower.

so maybe... just maybe!! we'll get a leader antfrost arc. only time can tell i suppose,,,

Obviously it would've been amazing if Dream got 1st individual but I'm pretty satisfied with the results we got for this MCC anyway (except for Harvey being 4th stop separating DNF--!!)

Like if all other people to get 1st I appreciate it was Illumina since he got that last Pride too and as we know he's A Good'un, Antfrost getting 2nd also deserved he's cracked and kinda slept on, aqua vs red for db was amazing and most importantly red still won (which also means velvet won either way if you think about it) and Dream still top 3 and got his Pride coin and Karl kept his win streak also new George and Foolish personal best in top 5 and top 10 respectively
