bunjy why did we evolve to need pillows for our heads while we sleep this just seems like a poor move

pillows as we know them are very much a modern invention, it's true! but putting something soft under your neck to support your head while you sleep is nothing new for us. humans have been doing it since the very beginning, and most of our ape relatives still do it today!

early humans would have made comfortable piles of grasses or other foliage to sleep on, comfy comfy cozy.

so viewed from this angle, pillows are just a natural extension of the ape bed-making instinct! and so are blankets, mattresses, the fifty stuffed animals you fight for space with every night, and your nightlight.

Meet Winkie! As a resident of the Gibbon Conservation Centre he lives the good life with lots of fresh fruit, time with his family, and soaking up the sunshine.
