Trying to explain my "Modzilla and Kul'Zak are the same person" hc/theory:

A day or so ago a made a silly lil post with this stupid meme I drew

and now here I am, taking a swing at trying to explain this weird ass hc/theory I have been stewing for over like a year now.

Now, I don't have any like, hard proof that any canon MCD and MMW/VP content points towards this ever being true or possible, for example you can bring up the fact that Modzilla has canon parents he introduces Aphmau to in MMW, and pointing out that the scar on Kul'Zak's face doesn't match up with the void burns on Mod's face, and even Kul'Zak's tomb, but for a moment put those aside, I have some explinations for those but they are flimsy at best, but simply hear me out.

To start this out, an important thing to note that if you were a fan of MCD, but never watched MMW (ModMod World) or VP (Void Paradox) or watched VP but not MMW, is that Professor Modzilla is what is known as a void scientist and a dimesnion hopper. Within all of the Aphverse, other than Mod's parents which are met in a one off episode, no other character has this ability or knowlage of these things, save for Aphmau in MMW, Laurence in VP and Jayden in VP of course. Laurence and Jayden being those dimension hopping against their own will and unknowingly.

It should be noted that in MMW's plot, Modzilla is trying to find his way back home, stating he was dimension hopping when he made a mistake and no longer knew how to get home to his dimension. At the end of MMW this does happen. In VP, it can be seen that Mod's home dimension is basically eaten by the larger antagonist of VP, which he runs from into a portal Polly, Aphmau and Tommy open to try and contact him.

Why do I bring this up? Note Modzilla's ability to get himself stuck in a different dimension for large amounts of time.

At some point last year I was very hyperfixated on The Divine Warriors, and spent a lot of time thinking and re-reading about them. Out of all pf them, Kul'Zak is the one we know the littlest about, even compared to Menphina. No info about any place he comes from or nothing. Let it be known that his title, amongst all the divine, is Kul'Zak The Wanderer. All of the divine's titles have something important to do with their character. Esmund of course being the knightly personality and need to protecto others, Enki's vast well of knolwage as the Keeper, Irene's want to protect others in a more healing motherly way as the Matron, Shad's rough nature and dark desores as the Destroyer, and Menphina's rambunctious nature as the Fury. So, what could The Wanderer possibly mean?

Well, here comes my little idea; Kul'Zak was not of MCD's dimention. Some how, a 'Wanderer' found their way into the Divine's company, and as a group of powerful warriors, who would they be to not have a companion with powers relating to dimesnion travling freely. Or well, mostly freely.

The scar upon Kul'Zak's face could easily be a void hopping burn, a minor one, maybe Kul'Zak's first ever one. Maybe hopping into MCD took more power than he was ready for, giving him a nasty, eye closing scar.

Maybe Kul'Zak decided to stay for a while, getting to know this new world he stumbled upon, enjoying the company of these new friends he's made, maybe helping save the world while he's at it.

And so what if while he was here, he was given a special relic by Irene, a woman he's come to see as a close friend, and accept it with full heart. And so what if he's been basically given immortality by this. So what if he watches his new group of friends slowly tear each other apart, reincarnate time and time again only to tear each other apart again and again, over Irene herself.

Kul'Zak never reincarnates. He stays himself throughout the years, alongside Irene. They stay close friends, Kul'Zak being a rock for her throught the years. Never does their relationship become more than that.

When Irene decides she can no longer take it, that she wants to finally gibe in, lose her soul to the natures of rheir world and be reborn a new, Kul'Zak is there, telling her he'll support that choice no matter what. His wanderer powers help bringing them to and from Irene's dimension, and when she finally decides to go, she gifts part of her relic to Kul'Zak, a part of her. She tells him she wants to scatter herself across the worlds, just like how Kul'Zak has, she wants to see the worlds alongside him, even if it isn't her.

Kul'Zak, heartbroken as he is, agrees. When Irene and Hyria finally decide to put Irene into her reincarnation sleep, Kul'Zak leaves MCD's world, not before faking his own death, bringing and end to the 'last standing'of the Divine Gods.

He goes home to his own world, no longer feeling like himself after spending nearly a melenia in a world not his own that became his home. Fufilling Irene's wish, Kul'Zak spends years hopping around worlds, showing the part of Irene's soul around. All this dimension hopping slowly, over time affects Kul'Zak physically and mentally as well. The void begins to burn him, leaving half his body a warped, purple and black mess. Not only that, but he starts to lose himself a little. He remembers his home dimension, he remembers Irene, he's lost his name though, he doesn't know where he's going, if he's going home or if he has somehwere else he's supposed to go.

He finds himself in MMW's dimension. He decides to place Irene's soul here. Let her finally become a whole person again, where MMW Aphmau comes from. Kul'Zak wanders the world, eventually finding himself in the village MMW takes place in. He sets up a labratory, trying to excuse a way to find his way back home, but noting down new information about the dimensions he stumbles upon. Years later, a woman named Aphmau moves into the village, and takes up conversation with Modzilla, the town's weird hermit scientist.

Why would, out of everyone in town, Modzilla only eber trust Aphmau with dimension hopping? Why would he have such a out of no where connection to her from the get-go. He lets Aphmau explore these worlds, she does so safely and she seems to love it, it makes Modzilla think of Irene, how she would have loved this, how he's glad he could give it to her, even if it isn't really her anymore. And of course when it comes to Tommy, Aphmau takes to caring for him like it's natural, which Modzilla can only guess truly shows her past of being The Matron.

When Aphmau helps him find his way back to his home dimension, Modzilla deep down is glad, is not surprised in the slightest that the woman who picked him up when he was lost in a new world was the one to help him find his way home.

The only way I can explain Mod's parents is the possibility that either the type of humanoids coming from Mod's dimension have much longer lifespans, or that dimension hopping in general messes with the being of a person so much that their life becomes strange and longer if not immortal. Or it could be a fake out, not his real parents and just some people he payed off to pretend to be his parents, who knows.

Well, that's about it. If this slowly became less readable over time, it took me about an hour to type up, from around 11pm-12:30, I'm tired but I really wanted to get this typed out. This is one of my faborite hcs, and something I think could really tightly tie in MMW and VP to the rest of the stories. I get a lot of joy and amusment from this concept, I also like to play around with this concept minus the idea of Mod losing his memory, just him playong god in disguise trying to just chill with his life out of the MCD world, except whwn Lawrence suddenly shows up and Mod is the only one who speaks old Ru'auni, who they end up bonding a bit over it, and Lawrence connects the dots that Mod is Kul'Zak.

So I really like the concept of MCD Aaron & Laurance being friends. If you moved some stuff around in the timeline, like delaying Laurance’s shadow knight transformation to WELL after they meet Aaron, and match things up in time for Laurance to travel to the VP timeline, die to the Alter at the very end of season 1 a la Garroth’s sacrifice in the Irene Dimension style, and become a shadow knight either before or during the time Aaron becomes Shad’s vessel, I think it could bring about some juicy character dynamics and scenarios

(character and story analysis/ideas/headcanons below, content warning for ptsd and in-depth discussions of trauma)

I like the concept of them meeting in life, before either of them have died, when Aaron has closed himself off from the world and become hardened by the pain, fear, grief, and vengeful fury that came from watching his wife, son, and entire village die. When they meet, he’s stoic, he’s living off of vengeance alone, he’s miserable. The feared and infamous Werewolf Killer gets picked up by Aphmau, Garroth, Laurance, and Dante and brought into the Phoenix Drop Alliance, likely because he’d have much better chances at finding and killing High Priest Zane with them than just by wandering the icy wastes on his own. But the boys take him in as one of their own, they become friends, and Laurance is an especially big help to Aaron’s progress. Laurance is the comedian, he’s the playful clown, he’s the competitive spirit getting others fired up and shining their brightest, he’s the hype-man, he’s the one who cracks the jokes that keep you going in the midst of the horrific terrors of war. He’s like a dog, he brings infectious laughter wherever he goes, laughter Aaron is in dire need of. Laurance teaches Aaron the value of being light-hearted and genuine. He teaches him how to unwind, how to relax, how to have fun, how to play again. Through him, Aaron learns how to recognize when he’s safe, when he doesn’t have to fight. He can put his sword down and kick back for a while, join in on the games. He can forget about the pain for a little while. He’s the one who teaches him safety—which makes it all the more impactful when that’s the very thing that later gets torn from them.

I like the concept of Laurance being a Shadow Knight at the same time his old friend has been warped into his Shadow Lord. Aaron fights Shad and tries to heaven and back to protect his old friend from all the torture and the beatings and the brutalization designed to crush, but there’s only so much he’s capable of saving. You can have one version of their dynamic that’s much less angsty, where he does actually manage to protect Laurance from Shad’s wrath and control, preventing him from spiraling from the trauma and Shad’s influence later, and Laurance gets to keep his old, bright self through his escape and rebellion—but you can also make some delectable angst from the two of them, and I think I like that concept a little better ;>

I like to imagine that though there is a magical aspect to the Shadow Lord’s control over his knights, and he is able to possess and “puppeteer” them and send them into a blindly violent state that can be signaled by the Knight’s strong emotions, most of what makes a Shadow Knight a Shadow Knight is purely psychological. Every one of them is a person that went through a literal and emotional hell so viscerally traumatizing that they’re just…broken. They have to follow his every order, they can’t speak for themselves, they can’t do or think anything else, because God only knows what would happen to them if they did, and that gets programmed into their bones so deeply that the terrified little animal in their brains isn’t capable of even thinking of anything else—because he’s in their thoughts too. He’s in their minds, he can read their thoughts, he knows how they’re feeling, he’s in their bodies, he’s in their veins and their guts and their bones, like a terrible leech. And what thing is more horrific than losing your own autonomy and self-agency, what thing is more traumatic than having someone else, a writhing parasite of an untouchable, unstoppable man, taking your body as his property and using you, breaking you, controlling you, making you do everything you never wanted to do, like a million cockroaches inside your innards, that you can never, ever, ever get rid of, no matter how much you fight—until it’s just not worth fighting anymore. What’s the point? He’ll always be there. He’ll always find you. And that’s what happens to every Shadow Knight, that’s the fear and trauma in each that drives them to do everything they do. Laurance, Gene, Zenix, Sasha, Vylad, Zane (especially Zane since he happened to piss off Aaron too), they all have it. It’s horrifying.

But when Shad is defeated and his soul moves on to become the Judgement we see in When Angels Fall, all of his prior magical control over his Knights is lost. Laurance and Aaron are freed, all their enemies are gone, they get their happy ending, and the war is finally won. But the two are still left with the grievous scars, physical and psychological, and the question of “What the hell are we supposed to do now?” They can finally be normal now, if “normal” was ever salvageable.

Aaron remembers his old friend. He still held on fiercely to everything he learned when he was with Aphmau and the boys, he held on to his gentleness, to his care, his heart, his yearning for the joy of times long past. He feels terrible for everything Laurance went through under The Shadow Lord’s command, and he wants his friend back, he wants to make it up to him and fix it somehow, even if it may be impossible to ever fix something like that, he still cares enough to try.

Laurance remembers too. To the very end, he held onto his heart and everyone in it with a shaking hand. He also understands pretty well what it’s like to be forced to hurt the people you love and do terrible things against your consent, he knows what it’s like to have someone horrible control you. So he holds an empathy for his old friend, he doesn’t blame him for any of his hurt. He knows it was all Shad, he knows logically that Aaron would never hurt him, he knows that Shad is dead and the threat is gone. But that kind of fear and pain doesn’t go away very easily, and certainly not by the scorn of “reason and logic.” A part of him has been killed, and it’s going to take a very long time to get it back, if he ever does.

He still cares for Aaron, he certainly doesn’t want to fight him or hurt him, and there’s a significant part of him that wants to keep him close. But there’s also a lot of him that’s still pretty fucked up, that still sees his Lord when he looks at Aaron. And that brings up…a lot of things. Self-destructive things, violently defiant things, furious things, crying things, hopeless things, hopeful things, comfort things.

Aaron tries his best to be gentle and reassuring and comforting, he tries his best not to spook him, but they have good days and bad days anyway. It’s all very messy, very angsty, very sopping-drenched in pain, and very much a struggle. They’re working towards getting through it.

I like that concept.

ok ykw im making this a separate post cuz putting it in the reblogs aint gonna do much, but this is a continuation of the post i made earlier abt laurance lolll

in my belief, laurance did NOT leave out of sheer pettiness and jealousy !! yes it couldve very well been a part of it [because honestly who wouldn't be pissed ?] but it was not the entire reason. laurance left in an attempt to protect aph, he left for not only his own salvation, but for her safety. previous to leaving, laurance had been struggling with his shadow knight form for a WHILE, it was a constant battle that he was losing. a lot of his anger likely came from that issue, because late-mcd s2 laurance acted WILDLY different from how he acted beforehand. laurance left because he knew that he could not control himself, because his first duty as a guard is to protect his lord, even if it means laying down his life and sacrificing himself. laurance gladly would have laid down his life and even gone through his experience in the nether AGAIN if it meant protecting aph [seen several times throughout the series, including in scaleswind when he's grateful to aaron for knocking him out before he could hurt aph while corrupted and even in void paradox when him and VP aph are trying to find modzilla in the other dimension]. even though it very much so would have hurt him to leave aph, he would have done what he could to keep her safe. like i said before, he still cares about her in mcd s3. it's not like he was so pissed that he left and decided to abandon his duties. in reality, he was FOLLOWING said duties by protecting her from himself. when laurance left the settlement after finding out aph was pregnant, he knew it was his time to go before he ended up hurting someone [which he literally made a promise to aph about]. this is probably a stretch, but that part where he tears up the grass in front of aph's house after hearing her announcement felt more like a "i need to release emotion and leave before i turn and do something i regret" than an expression of just anger. whether it was as a result of his proximity to the nether portal or not, laurance is in his form by the time he leaves for good. this could be interpreted, as i said, as a result of his proximity to the portal, OR as a result of his spiraling emotions. like at the wedding, laurance's form has been seen to be brought on by emotional overload [he also directly stated this when explaining corruption to aph], so it is not out of the question that the announcement could have caused him to spiral. anyways, laurance is constantly afraid of hurting aphmau, it is one of his biggest [if not his greatest] fear. he would rather never see her again than risk her death at his hands [WHICH HE LITERALLY HAD A BREAKDOWN OVER IN VP BECAUSE HE FELT LIKE HE FAILED HER AFTER SHE WAS HURT BY HIS OTHER ALT SELF] or of someone else [shad lol]. ALSO he explicitly states that he doesn't want her to end up in a realm where the shadow lord could hurt her and where he could not reach her. by leaving for the nether, he is, in a way, making an attempt to hold shad at bay. he still likely holds that fear of him reaching her WHICH HE ACTS ON IN S3 !! laurance is living what garroth did AGAIN [first was him being trapped and turned into a shadow knight, second was him being stuck in the other dimension in VP (even though we never got any sort of closure on that)], each was in another dimension fighting what could be considered their greatest enemies in an attempt to protect their lord, that being garroth fighting zane, and laurance fighting not only the shadow lord, and his VP alt self, but HIMSELF. laurance zvahl would NEVER risk his lady's life if he knew he could prevent it. he admitted to aph that he felt inferior to garroth in terms of being a guard ["but after garroth, what good am i ?"], even though he just wants to keep those he loves safe. vylad said that giving in to being a shadow knight is to stop caring, to let go, to no longer feel pain and be no longer binded by emotional connections. it would feel good. He is from Dreams of Estorra, a separate rp series on Aphmau Fantasy. It even says on his wiki page that he is an Evi or Estorran

I believe this is him

but he also has a different name in Estorra (his name is Asher). He is the blacksmith in Estorra and in the background, while he works on a sword, the armor "Jayden" wears can be seen along with his axe.

I strongly believe they are the same person but i am also not 100% sure. I just see a lot of people confused on who he is and what is even going on in VOID Paradox and wanted to maybe answer some VP stuff cause it's fun to piece everything together :)

ik you have a yellowjackets & pdh & mid fic, but do you have any plans/concepts for other aphverse projects? like vp, a royal tale, mermaid tales?

they're not perfectly refined, and obviously depend on how my other fics go, but i do have some plans.

ART is like the bane of my existence. because yes, i love lo, i love lo so much... but it just feels like a bunch of missed opportunities in a consecutive sequence. and very bad sex references that made me want to shove cotton buds all the way into my ears until they bled.

Ofc, im fixing issues like jenny is getting swapped out with Laur, Zane and Garroth aren't randomly not related, and so on. It'll also kind of... focus a little more on the 'princesses need to marry' aspect. Begin it as a 'who are you gonna pick?' romance with courtship and balls and whatever, until the big bad thing happens, but the romance will still be important bc that still needs to happen. It gives Aphmau being defiant of it more... impact? And so on. Maybe talk about it in another post when my thoughts are more coherent?

MT is... a series. i think it was cute. Idk if it'll fit into my main rewrite aphverse, but if i can fit it in, I will. I will include that pirates were often queer, too, because... haha... its my rewrite. Might also make it a bit more pirate-y, like Aph joins the crew whilst they're still sailing or whatever. they grab her in a net or something. idk i just want to fuck around with Piratemau so much its crazy. Let her be a pirate Jess, please

I quite liked VP, havent watched it recently enough to know if im gonna rewrite it. I'll have to watch MMW first, and decide then.

I think we were robbed of the concept of a full fledged dimension hopping team from MMW.

Like Modzilla making a whole lil team of having the group they established throughout MMW continue to SAFELY travel through dimensions. It's how I reason Marsh, Reese and Lady Luck being seen in MyStreet seasons every so often. Because Marsh and Reese are the ONLY two candy people we ever see in MYS, so it would be reason that theh aren't from the MYS realm.and are just going around doing dimension research for Mod or technically Polly and Laila who then give it to Mod, however that would work.

I love void paradox. It's genuinely one of my most rewatched aphmau mini series. But oh my Irene it makes no sense

Why is Tommy a clone of modzilla. WHY!! It maybe could've made for an interesting dynamic but in the end it just comes off feeling lazy and unexplored. They could've taken the path of modzilla feeling jealous of Tommy for getting a good childhood, or maybe Tommy is scared of modzilla because he acknowledges that one day he will be modzilla. There are so many interesting paths you could've taken and it just feels like their relationship is nothing and it's just lazy!!

I also really really wish that the world of void paradox itself, like the one vp!aph and Tommy live in, would've been explored more. Sure there's science and stuff but what else??? It feels so boring.

That being said, void paradox my beloved. ❤️
