Something I'm wondering is like. what YEAR is the Amazing Digital Circus taking place in. Because like-

Pomni got here by putting on a HEADSET, probably a virtual reality headset that I think we can see on the desk in the ending shot. But the Digital Circus is clearly a game/program more reminiscent of old computer games from like- the 90's? or early 2000's?

And you especially have to wonder, going with the Kinger Is The Creator theory, just how LONG has that dude BEEN here then????? He's been here the longest and lost his marbles just a little, but like in what span of time? Even Jax has said they've been here years.

And if it HAS been that long, then how are people entering through a headset???? Did they have headsets like that back then??

Jack, Quincey and Arthur met in university doing several fieldwork biology projects together which involved a lot of Restraining and Tagging Large Dangerous Beasts. Quincey obviously is the bat expert. He refuses to accept any method of interaction with animals that progressed a little past Steve Irwin times. Arthur I'm thinking didn't stay in academia and is more working in environmental science education and outreach in England, esp as he comes from the sort of money/class that tends to spearhead charities. His pet cause is eco-friendly methods of pest control to combat the spread of poisons up the food chain to foxes and birds of prey and he re-trains rescue hunting dogs for the purpose. Jack is still a psychiatrist, he probably has a personal interest in mental illness that leads him to that despite his unsuited personality, he got involved with the other two pursuing research on potential applications of snake venom to psychiatric medication (its mostly used for anticoagulants cancer and neurodegenerative disease). Hey maybe thats what he was sucking out of Van Helsing too, not that you're supposed to do that but I doubt sucking gangrene out of someone is a thing either. He is in contact with Renfield in the context of him being a volunteer in a legal, licensed testing campaign and its really his first time working in contact with patients. They're still all a little Mal Practice but to an ethically bearable extent.

#about me #welcome to academia #imposter syndrome blogging #paperstars 22 #there's a new me #(someone in the internship i did last year) #and she has...half of the duties i had? #i'm doing an RAship with the same program tackling the other half #which honestly makes so much more sense #but also like. i did her job AND mine last year. #i was super organized and on top of things and i communicated effectively #and now apparently I'M the standard they're holding HER to #just........y'all need to understand #i did not think i was good at this job At All #i thought i was barely fulfilling the requirements #i thought i was supposed to be doing More #i thought i was a meh employee #NO. apparently i was a joy to work with. apparently they're excited to have me still. #THAT FEELS INSANE #also this came on the heels of my advisor telling me he thinks #i'm super competent as an academic and a good writer and a worthwhile job candidate #just like...i can be good? i can be...enough? i can be okay?? #[mind exploding emoji]

ok i can talk abt work now. i got hired to assist the main person who runs inventory and communicates with the vendors, orders plants and products etc etc. its been hard and mostly office work but insanely rewarding.

ages ago I saw someone jokingly say that xl as jyl is a funny choice because she looks like a 33 year old woman trying to play a teenager. after I paid closer attention to some jyl scenes I think I agree she looks older than her character’s age (the actress was in her late 20s at the time of filming) but I don’t care. we love 20 year olds who look like 30 year olds in this house and xl gave a phenomenal performance

#originals #it reminds me of one time (not one time this was a job) when my mom was small (not small she was like? 17? maybe) #ok i googled it and she would have been 22 actually i thought she was a teenager #anyway #she babysat like late nights for this family that lived in moderately-bumfuck nowhere and they had a st. bernard and a Huge amt of land #so the dog was let outside to freely roam a lot and one night shortly after cujo had come out it stayed outside for several hours #and it had stayed out until it got fully dark and then eventually it just quietly walked up to the glass door in back and stood there #and then when she finally walked by and noticed it it went WOOUU really loud to ask to get in and apparently only its eyes were visible #she said she almost had a heart attack but she let it in anyway and it immediately tried to butt her hands for pets so it was all good #i was told this story when i was 12 and had checked out the book from the school library because there was a dog in it #and i got to the part where some character idr which started puking up blood in a bathroom and i was like ew yuckee!!!! and put it back in #my bag and the next morning when my mom was checking my stuff she was like why the fuck were you reading cujo #and i wasjust like i thought it was about a dog :( like it didnt register for a split second in my mind that if rabies is involved then it #probably does not end well for the dog
