I made a wearable mockup of an 18th century wrapper, so I could have something to wear over my swimsuit on the very rare occasions I go swimming, and I'm glad I did because it's too narrow and I will have to cut it bigger when I eventually make a wrapper out of nice fabric.
The very cheap, coarse, unbleached cotton I used reminded me of some of the flags in episode 1 of Our Flag Means Death, so I added a cat appliqué to the back.
I couldn't bear to do it anywhere near as messily as the one in the show, and I ended up looking at a lot of cat reference photos to draw my cat outline. I sewed on a bunch of odd black cotton scraps with my free motion foot, and then trimmed the edges down very close. The tongue is a thinner piece of red cotton, and I turned the edges in and hand sewed it down.

For anyone interested, here's some more info on the process of making this costume:
I dyed the dark blue fabric by hand in order to recreate the black gradient on the pants
(please don't mind the remaining black dye visible on my fingernails. It's all part of the creation process!)
I made all decorations on the clothing, including the Ursaring and Stantler using appliqué. For the finer details, I added a bit of embroidery.
The accessories, such as the hair clip and bracelet, were made from worbla and painted with acrylic paint.
I'm excited to see what Pokémon Legends: Z-A will have to offer next!
But honestly, I'm really longing for my Black and White remake....

Gauze kimono with blood red flowers appliqué by artist Naho Ishii (more of their work here). I am not quite sure what medium they used for this but the final effect is striking!

Dresden Bloom from Cozy Quilt Designs. I’m not a fan of appliqué but I can do it when it needs doing.

Two appliqué projects I did about the St. Lawrence Seaway/The Lost Villages.
Top one is based on the Lost Villages Historical Society logo, bottom is based on a photograph by George Hickey taken in Aultsville, Ontario just before the flooding of the Seaway.

Artists will be like "this piece was the hardest thing I've ever done, it tortured me, I nearly broke making it"
And then you look at the piece and it's a tanuki with big balls
It's me, I'm artists

Hi everyone, I'm so very new to this I feel like a kid wandering around Goblin Market. I want to have a place to share a my love of doll making, and some of the processes and thoughts behind what I create. So I'm playing around with Tumblr as a platform to do this. I'm hoping to make the content here a little different from my other social media channels so here goes nothing!
Now then, there's no better way to start the day than with a pair of tiny feet...
Rosie is a waldorf inspired doll, UKCA tested, and she and her sister will be available soon in my Etsy store... opening soon! Stay tuned for more sneak peeks.

This weekend I'll take this back down to get better photos, especially of the quilting (which is what I've been dragging ass on, and which is nearly invisible while it's hung up), but for now It! Is! Done! And I only started in 2013. 😂
