idk that I agree per se, (or disagree, I kinda just think it's fine) but I *am* v curious what type of wedding dress you would have put Maddie in!
So, I don't really have a great answer for this, because my reaction was really based on my own aesthetic sensibilities rather than anything to do with Maddie. Frankly, the part I hate most is the mesh sleeves with the appliques along the forearms because that sort of "illusion mesh" style just always reminds me of ice skater costumes, where it's intended to create a certain effect from far away but it's not really meant to be viewed close up. I happen to think it's very ugly, but that's my personal taste.
But now that I am thinking about it, I think a big part of it is that the dress they chose is such a quintessential "traditional" bridal gown with an over-the-top amount of tulle, beading, and embroidery that all just kind of run together in a way that makes details that could look quite lovely on their own blend into an overall effect that is sort of cluttered and muddy. It's an effort to be fancy, but without discernment or taste. This is the kind of gown you wear to a Big Wedding that's geared toward impressing people, which is... just absolutely not Madney's vibe as a couple. It brings to mind the sort of wedding I would have imagined Maddie might have had with Doug, where the wedding is less about the couple's love for one another and more about Appearances.
As for the kind of wedding outfit I would LIKE to see Maddie in for her wedding with Chimney? Something a lot simpler, for a start. I could totally see Madney as that couple that's so committed to a casual wedding vibe that they get married in jeans (though Maddie would still probably wear a pretty white blouse or something), but if they did get dressed up I think seeing Maddie in something that was less of a Wedding Gown and more of a nice dress that happens to be white (or maybe it's not white! maybe it has white on it, but also has some good colors that signify growth and happiness. IDK, I'm not @stagefoureddiediaz, I can't speak to costume design on that level).
But yeah. It's very out of touch with the "living room ceremony followed by backyard reception" plan Chim and Maddie were talking about at the end of season 6, but there's also a huge disaster... so I sort of feel like everything about the planned wedding is supposed to be a little bit wrong, and then in the wake of whatever the fuck happens to Chimney, they're able to have a small, quiet, beautiful ceremony back at their house at the end of the episode.

Oooo if you’re open to helping us shop please help me find my wedding dress (big ask)? I feel like I’ve tried on every dress in London and am about to give up! I’m not tied to it being white (blue? metallic?) I just want it to feel special enough that I don’t look like my own guest, but not a full meringue moment because there’s only going to be 15 people total. Vibe is casual Saturday afternoon picnic in the park and drinks at our local afterwards, my budget is £2k!
Sorry I should have added that I’m super short so midis tend to fit better, maxi not really my vibe and I’m worried it might feel too formal for the picnic!
Oh my god this is my dream task. First off - congratulations! Sounds like it's going to be a beautiful wedding. Okay so I've got a few thoughts first before we dive in: (1) You can get anything shortened - I'm also relatively short (well, actually I have long torso and short legs, but works out the same) so 90% of my bottoms are tailored. And what better time to invest in some good tailoring than your wedding! Assuming the dress isn't beaded / heavy on appliques, it's usually<£30 to have something shortened, and it's the same price to have something taken up half an inch vs taken up a foot, to make a maxi tea length. So I'm going to recommend a few things that are longer but know that I always mean you should have them shortened if you want. (2) Have you thought about a veil? I just think it's the easiest, most obvious way to say 'Wedding!' but still keep things cool. Personally I love a birdcage moment but I'm also partial to a short veil, particularly if you get something meaningful embroidered on it (this one is fully customizable and I love the look of the phrase running down the side).
Okay now that we've done that, some thoughts: Rixo makes cute, special but low key dresses. For a city wedding feel, I love the shorter ones (60s vibes! This CAPE) but there's loads of cute options (remember, you can have the longer ones taken up!). They're also v affordable which is always nice.
On the less classically bridal end of the spectrum, we have La Double J who go big on color and pattern. Again, I'd consider adding a veil (maybe in a fun color?!) to feel more bridal. I'm not sure your body shape but this top and skirt combo! With a pale blue veil?! Come on. They also do have more classic bridal pieces as well. There's also Zimmerman - flirty and flouncy, their dresses have pure romantic vibes. Something like this could definitely read bridal (+ a birdcage viel and a little shrug maybe?). If you're not put off by black (again, veil and accessories can help) then this is to die for and super re-wearable. Or embrace the chill vibes and go yellow! They have loads of great options.
I'm sure you already know this but just in case: Reformation does bridal. Like their normal dresses, the options skew towards people with model proportions but they've got some gorgeous ones - love this minimal take. I'd also recommend Wolf & Badger again. Do you want to be a hot and cool minimalist? A sea foam mermaid? (I'd personally have the slits closed a bit and the whole thing taken up but that's me). A ball of spring flowers? The Badge has you covered.
And then of course, a net a porter troll. Are you a disco queen? The most elegant woman alive? (Prob not best for the park, but def could work for a pub). A garden fairy? A jumpsuit (!) babe? A queen of less is more? (maybe with tulle gloves!) A column queen? (I'd style with blue shoes that match, I have this pair from Ferragamo that I love).
Again for lots of these I think accessories are key. You add a veil, a glove (consider short too!), a white shoe and all the sudden, bang it's clearly bridal. I hope some of that is helpful, and good luck!
(okay also you did not ask about this but just a thought: you can get really beautiful, affordable, old embroidered white table clothes fairly easily online and at antique shops. How gorgeous would your wedding picnic be on all white 'blankets'? Maybe with something waterproof underneath because, London).

The wedding dress... though I'm not getting married.
So some years ago, my cousins were getting married, but no one would let me design a wedding dress. TT
Tumblr media
By then I'd made something like this before, whch I visually based off of an Audrey Hepbern garden dress. I wore it for my own birthday.
Tumblr media
I'd also designed and made this from a picture I made myself. This is the first dress I completely made from my own imagination.
I also make jewelry... but separate thing... Anyway... No one would let me design a wedding dress. So I practiced by making more things like this... which was a commission for a kid.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
And you know that I made hanbok before... if you've followed me. So the question was a wedding dress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was somewhat inspired by Ariel Lin... since high low hit the market before it hit the US. I also kinda wanted to make it feel a bit like Princess Venus from Sailor Moon.
Tumblr media
So the basic dress is like this... but it'll have a colored petticoat layer, so it can convert. (and pockets? yes.) though I'm adding embellishments.
Tumblr media
And so, I decided to add nother layer on top to make it Korean-ish. But I changed my mind about the closure and materials. Truthfully I wish I could afford soemething like this:
Tumblr media
But it was expensive to make back then and it's expensive to make now. So given that, I've been making a pattern for the lace... which looks like this. (roughly, I'm going to reflect the top)
Tumblr media
'cause apparently you can make your own lace... I loosely based that on this which you can see heavy influences from, but it's not the exact same. I added butterflies and made the feather bundle into feng huang.
Tumblr media
And now you get the level of difficulty and how very invested I am into self-designing this dress. It'll have color, but also blend European and Asian type of styles together. It'll be flashy as hell.
But it's also taking forever to gather the materials and get everything together for a spectacular picture. Muhaha. An insane level of detail. I think it's better in my head than it currently is on paper. I mean there is satin, there is lace, there is gold lame, there are sequins, appliques, etc. And I'm sure no one else will care, but I think it will look excellent once I finish.

How is your dress fitting going? I somehow missed that you were getting married. Congrats!!! I'd love to see what design or style you're going with. :3
I had my first dress fitting yesterday, and I'm short so there is a LOT of extra fabric. I was worried I'd gained too much weight since buying my dress (I bought it in october) but it fit around me perfectly. It's a full satin ball-gown, with a sweetheart neckline and off the shoulder straps. Think Belle's iconic yellow gown. I had a hoop skirt that made it very 1850s but there was some awkward puckering at the front (the only place that didn't have pleats) that wouldn't go away unless we took the hoops out of the petticoat. So now it's a little less dramatically large, but that's OK, because now I'll just wear the petticoat the entire day. At first I was going to wear the hoop skirt for the ceremony then take it off for the reception, since it was so large, but now that I'm not wearing it, I can just wear the petticoat all day and we can just hem the dress to one length, rather than finding an in-between length.
I'm very happy that nothing in the chest/corset gas to be altered, however, I really wanted a corset closure, so that is what I'm getting added ^-^. That way I can pull it tighter or looser the day of, and don't have to worry as much about my weight gain/stress. (Which will mean I won't gain as much since I'm less stressed). I also have a sparkly belt that is going on the dress, and it's one of those applique bridal belts that just go on the front of the dress, which I am ~so~ excited about. That's probably the last thing that will go on the dress.
It was a little nervewracking because during the fitting I actually can't see myself. I can just see the shape of my dress, because my friend who is doing the alterations (she is like my fiancés and I'm catholic grandma, and his sponsor for baptism/confirmation) doesn't have a full-length mirror she can put in her living room. So I had to imagine what it would look like with all the details by looking in their TV lol.
I can't wait to see it on me fitting properly so I can walk and for it to be hemmed.
I haven't seen my veil yet either, since one of my friends on here is making it custom, and I never tried on anything like it before. But I DO have a tiara 👑 which I will be wearing all night. I will absolutely be a princess on my wedding day lol

Naomi Biden's second look with the gloves reminds of CBK's wedding dress with her gloves and the flowers!
They definitely have the same theme with the classic simplicity. I think that look of the plain dress and gloves has come back into style (especially since covid with a lot of people doing courthouse weddings and eloping). Something I also love about her reception dress are the applique flowers on the train, it makes the dress feel a little more interesting and unique.

Why are couture wedding dresses expensive? Are they worth the cost?
A wedding is a special and a momentous affair primarily for a woman who is walking on the terrains of starting a new phase of lifẹ. While many of them adore spending extra dollars on those majestic and queen-like wedding outfits for their espousal ceremony, many find it a wastage of money.
Retaining and respecting both the opinions, we just thought of acknowledging the fact that why a couture wedding dress hangs on the costlier end of the collection and is it really worth the price.
Detailing
The most common and reasonable fact is the intricate detailing that is accommodated in the designs of couture wedding dresses. The beads, thread work, appliques, shimmer, laces and all these adornments are expensive as they demand time and efforts of the workers contributing.
Rich and comfortable fabric
As said above, weddings are special to one's heart, and women do not let anything compromise their looks on the most memorable day of their life. You simply can't put on any fabric and imagine ruling the crowd, right? It is a paramount part of the dress and thus has to be luxe, elegant, classy and above all comfortable. Fabrics like silk crepe and Mikaella looks opulent and majestic, hence adding up to the overall cost of the couture wedding dresses.
Designer label
No doubt women love showing off the names of big designer labels, and just as they, everything comes with a price tag. Luxury and eminent labels like Winnie Couture are reasonably priced as they are home to the best of the best designers that do not let the quality and uniqueness quotient go down at any cost. Each of the dresses is structured and stitched with the utmost diligence, passion and detailing, which logically ramps up the price.
Multiple fitting sessions
Before you get the final version of the dress delivered to your doorstep, it has to undergo several fitting sessions and that also multiples the cost-effectiveness. The stores have to pay the seamstresses and other crew members to ensure you get the perfect fit and look on the D-day.
Is it worth buying an expensive couture wedding dress for your momentous day?
Well, in a straightforward manner, if your pocket allows you, then do capture the beautiful memories in a princess-like outfit that is just made for you. All the detailing and designing will bring out the true elegance and make you look dead drop gorgeous.
A one-stop destination to get your hands on the exquisite couture wedding dresses in the United States
Well, Winnie Couture is just the right place to get a solution to all kinds of wedding dress needs. They are stocked up in all sizes, designs, fabrics and silhouettes. All you need to do is visit the official website and book an appointment. They are backed up by a talented pool of designers, drapers and style assistants. Moreover, to make the deal more manageable for you, Winnie Couture has divided its entire range of collection into two categories depending on the price; Blush Range and Diamond Range.

The Basic Forms of Quilts
Tumblr media
Quilts are a broad category of decorative hanging or blanket, spanning a diverse range of techniques, designs, applications, and fabric types. The most basic is the patchwork (or pieced) quilt, which involves the maker cutting and sewing together a variety of contrasting and complementary fabric pieces. Blocks are sewn together, pressed, and sewn into larger columns or rows, This sewing together is often done in a repetitive geometric pattern and can include hexagons, pinwheels, stripes, triangles, or eight-pointed stars.
Some traditional pieced quilts, such as crazy quilts and log cabins, employ “foundation piecing” techniques of stitching small pieces of fabric, not just into each other, but into a larger ground fabric. When creating mosaic-style patchworks, traditional British quiltmakers use a similar foundation paper-piecing (FPP) technique. This involves using paper as the foundation, which stabilizes the quilt block and allows for the placement of unusual, small, and detailed pieces. The paper is printed with a template, which lays out the shape of pieces and where they will be sewed to each other, or directly to the paper. Once the fabric is sewn and arranged, the paper is removed, yielding a finished quilt.
The applique quilt involves adding decorative fabric to the already made quilt, employing shapes that extend well beyond squares, triangles, and rectangles. The shapes can be cut from fabric in any design, including curves and abstract elements (as they are not sewn together, but to the underlying quilt, they do not need to match through straight lines).
There are a number of applique techniques, including the traditional needle turn hand sewing method of cutting shapes with a seam allowance, which is the area between stitch and fabric edge. The pieces are next pinned to the background in a preferred position. A sharp needle end is used to turn-under that seam allowance on each patch. The pieces can now be sewn in place using a blind stitch, with the pins then taken out. The sew and turn technique eliminates the requirement of turning under the seam allowance, prior to shapes being sewn into the background.
The raw edge or iron-on technique involves tracing the piece’s outline onto fusible web, or a thin sheet of sticky webbing. This is cut out, peeled off its backing paper and pressed onto the fabric’s reverse side, such that the shapes exactly match. When all the shapes are prepared, with the fusible web attached, they are simply ironed onto the background quilt, adhesive side down.
One essential when starting any applique project is to cut background fabrics that are larger than the target quilt size. This is because the background will often become distorted and shrink a bit as various shapes are added. Once all the pieces have been ironed on, the background can be squared.
Another technique involves making the embroidered quilt. This involves first creating a quilt with blocks that are relatively blank, which provides space for personalized stitching. The embroidery performed on this can be simple or complex, and may be used in simply outlining blocks and other shapes. It may also be used to add decorative elements such as small scattered stars, or X’s. It is also employed when adding commemorative elements to the quilt, as with a set of initials, a first name, a year, or a wedding date. Some quilt embroiderers stitch favorite phrases, while others add creative shapes, such as a set of family handprints.

Unveiling the Veil: Wedding Dress Hacks for the Savvy Bride
Tumblr media
Calling all budget-ballin' brides-to-be! Planning a wedding can be a whirlwind of emotions, excitement, and yes, even a little financial stress. But fear not, future Mrs.! When it comes to your dream wedding dress, there are plenty of clever hacks and savvy strategies to help you score a show-stopping look without breaking the bank.
1. Rock the Sample Sale: Insider Tip Alert! Many bridal boutiques hold sample sales throughout the year. These are your golden tickets to designer duds at seriously discounted prices. The dresses might have been used for try-ons, but with a little TLC (think professional cleaning) they'll be ready to walk down the aisle with you.
2. Unleash Your Inner Designer (DIY Edition): Feeling crafty? Consider a pre-loved dress with good bones as your blank canvas! Sites like Etsy or YouTube are treasure troves of inspiration for DIY wedding dress alterations. Think adding delicate lace appliques, a detachable train, or swapping out the straps for a more personalized look.
Tumblr media
3. The Power of Accessories: Let's talk accessories, because they have the magical power to transform a simple dress into a show-stopping ensemble. Statement earrings, a dramatic veil, or a sparkling headpiece can elevate your look and add a touch of personal flair. Hit up vintage shops, thrift stores, or online marketplaces to find unique and budget-friendly accessories that complement your dress and personality.
4. Embrace the "Something Borrowed" Tradition: Remember the old wedding rhyme "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"? This tradition offers a fantastic opportunity to score a stunning dress without the hefty price tag. Ask a close friend or family member if they have a wedding dress they'd be willing to lend you. It's a sentimental way to incorporate a loved one into your special day, and who knows, you might just fall in love with a vintage gem!
#5. Think Outside the Bridal Box: Don't limit yourself to traditional bridal shops! Explore high-end department stores or formal evening wear retailers. You might find a stunning gown that wasn't originally designed for weddings, but with the right accessories, it can be transformed into your dream dress.
Tumblr media
6. Don't Be Afraid to Negotiate: This might feel a little out of your comfort zone, but bridal shops often have some wiggle room on pricing, especially for pre-loved dresses or dresses nearing the end of the season. Politely inquire about potential discounts or negotiate a slightly lower price – you never know what you might achieve!
7. The Power of Confidence: The most important accessory you'll wear on your wedding day is your confidence! When you feel beautiful and radiant in your dress, it will show. So, embrace the dress you choose, whether it's a brand-new designer gown, a pre-loved treasure, or a cleverly transformed find.
Remember, your wedding day is about celebrating your love story, not the price tag on your dress. With a little creativity, resourcefulness, and these savvy hacks, you can find the perfect dress that reflects your unique style and makes you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself!
