Con queste immagini, che non è più e definitivamente possibile descrivere semplicemente come “fotografie”, Aqua Aura riflette sulle anomalie della natura e sul concetto stesso di normalità rispetto ai dati scientifici ricavati dallo studio approfondito del mondo umano e vegetale. Se il fiore, la pianta, l’elemento naturale in sé rappresenta l’aspetto spontaneo della vita, non contaminato dalla cultura e dall’azione che da essa deriva, Aqua Aura rompe questa catena generativa inserendo elementi che ne determinano uno stravolgimento sensoriale oltre che di significato. Egli trasforma deliberatamente tutto ciò che di per sé già esiste, in una propria dimensione autonoma, aggiungendo soltanto una singola entità biologica appartenente al mondo dell’infinitamente piccolo, dai più piccoli componenti del nostro corpo, le cellule, a microorganismi, virus e batteri che all’interno di esso possono vivere o inserirsi, come subdole minacce invisibili. In alcuni casi anche piccole larve e fossili contribuiscono a modificare il flusso naturale delle cose, trovandosi inclusi in un ecosistema al quale non appartengono, ma all’interno del quale sembrano ritrovare da subito una propria nuova collocazione. L’effetto straniante è completato dalla presenza, in questi corpi e mondi, di elementi costitutivi appartenenti a realtà dimensionali anche molto diverse, a volte diametralmente opposte, che convivono a formare sostanze e materie plausibili o realistiche in un universo parallelo che ci affascina ma al tempo stesso viviamo con una certa inquietudine. Ed è forse proprio l’azione dell’innesto, “The Graft” appunto, tra elementi e componenti tanto diversi ad infondere su ciò che osserviamo un senso profondamente attrattivo e seducente, ma allo stesso tempo di una bellezza minacciosa e preoccupante.
