Thank you so much for running this blog, the first 4 seasons of Digimon were my favorite shows growing up and even from a young age I could tell that they showcased themes and relationships with more depth than other kids' shows, but as an adult I was always embarrassed to tell others that I thought Digimon of all shows was "deep" (especially since most people online have probably only seen the English Dub) so I'm really happy that someone managed to break it down and write down all of my thoughts + other things I never noticed in one place.

Especially when it comes to 02, as a Kid it was my least favorite season and the only one I never really rewatched, but I just finished my first rewatch in years like 5 minutes ago and while it may have it flaws, I really appreciate how it has a little bit of everything in it and I definitely have a new fondness for it and all the 02 kids in it (especially Daisuke's character, I used to think that he was a boring shounen protagonist, but now he's one of my favorites)

It's common for people to say they appreciate the characters more when they become adults, and I think that applies to all of the characters, but I notice some of them get this more than others. I think Daisuke's definitely up there, and I know part of that on the English speaker end has to do with the English dub version changing his character so much, but I also think his specific brand of positivity and forward-thinking nature is something you really appreciate a lot more when you're an adult and have seen a lot of things. There's a lot of little things with him that are hard to pick up if you're not looking closely...

I know you said you don't want to consider anything post-2011 about Barbara, understandingly so, but I must admit that I kinda like the scene in Nightwing Rebirth where they had Damian give the cold shoulder to Babs because he heard that she told Dick to go to hell, just because I like the idea of Damian being noisy and inserting himself in their drama (while always being on Dick's sides, even if he was in the wrong.)

I mean it sounds like him, but I trust fandom with dick and babs relationship drama so little, especially given how often female characters are dragged over the coals for dicks sake.

Outside of fandom potentially messing up with that it could make sense. Cass threw dick thru a window in nightwing because she could tell he hurt babs feelings. They can be siblings who definitely should mind their own business but also who definitely won't :p

Answer: Jason Todd has tried one (1) time to murder Tim Drake AND Damian Wayne. And it was not "The Titans Tower Incident".

Tim could use some non-urgent stitches, but he is still fully awake and walking on his own two feet. Batman sends Tim back to the Batcave unaccompanied, and tells him to continue working on their case.

♢ Verdict: Nah, Jason did not try to murder Tim in Hush. It wasn't theatrical and climactic enough.

(*Side note: Hush reveals that this Jason is supposedly just an impersonation by Clayface. But Batman Annual #25 later changes the lore so that the real Jason did initially appear here. After the part when the real Jason takes Tim hostage, Batman chases him through a dark and rainy graveyard—and the real Jason then takes the opportunity to switch out with Clayface as his body double. It's confusing, I know!)

Did Jason try to murder Tim in Teen Titans (2003) #29? (Also known as "THE Titans Tower Incident", as opposed to all the other Titans Tower incidents in which Titans died and the Tower was destroyed.)

Jason beats up Tim with a bo staff and punches. No blades or guns involved. Tim blacks out. Tim later wakes up and gets to his feet when the other Titans come to help him.

Raven explains, "Jason was always aggressive. He was determined to one day be better than all of us. Especially Batman." This story confirms that Jason has always been an overcompensating jerkwad, and death didn't make him any nicer—he's bullying Tim in a jealous fit to prove he's better than him, and not out of murderous intent.

Teen Titans (2003) #47 [writer: Adam Beechen] - "The guy attacked all of us once just to prove he was better than me!"

Straight from Tim's own mouth—Jason infiltrated Titans Tower just to bully Tim, not to murder him.

♢ Verdict: Jason EXPLICITLY did NOT try to murder Tim in Teen Titans (2003) #29, also bafflingly known as "THE Titans Tower Incident". He didn't cut Tim's neck or use any bladed implements this time either.

Battle for the Cowl

(Everyone's favorite comic! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Evil Batman time!)

Did Jason try to kill Tim in Batman: Battle for the Cowl?

Jason shoots 10-year-old Damian in the chest, causing Damian to need eighty-nine stitches and a sizable blood transfusion to save his life.

Jason later stabs Tim in the chest, drags his "rotting corpse" into an alcove in his weird sewer creature lair, crucifies Tim's Batman suit on an honest-to-God actual cross, and brags about killing him to Dick.

But when Jason and Dick come unto the "tomb", they found the stone rolled away, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus, Tim's "body" had risen on the third day vanished.

Tim apparently only survived the blood loss due to some weird technique that allows him to slow his pulse to a near-death state.

♠ Verdict: YEAH, it sure looks like Jason did try to kill 17-year-old Tim AND 10-year-old Damian in Battle for the Cowl!

So remember—next time we bring up the time that Jason tried to kill poor Tim, we ALSO need to hold Jason accountable for trying to brutally murder a ten-year-old little boy and all the trauma that totally definitely caused.

Conclusion: Jason would ONLY try to kill Tim as a dramatic cliffhanger to end the second act of a limited event series in which Jason is the main villain.

Otherwise the production just wouldn't be theatrical enough.

And a special thank you to @31dod for creating this really wonderful and creative challenge, it seriously made my month and gave me a lot of opportunities to express all of the things I like about Dick Grayson, I’ve had creative block for a bit but this really fixed it. I also appreciate all of their patience for how late so many of my posts have been, (including this one). The month is over but I hope you guys enjoyed my 31 days!

I would argue that abuse is a pattern for Batman. He mourns Jason by beating up Dick. He brainwashes Tim as "special training". He ignores Damian for extended periods; notice that Damian builds his own torture chamber during the Ric arc. He plays favorites. And then we have taking Jason to see the site of his own death.

Yeah? I've been saying it only forever?

And it's not only the boys, it's also the girls, Cassandra and Stephanie, and with Damian it gets worse than ignoring him tbh. For Damian, certainly, check out meta by @arabian-batboy and @wesavegotham. For Cass (assuming that's not the person whose post is prompted this ask), @but-a-humble-goon. For Steph, you should go to @tumblingxelian. Other meta blogs for these characters that write on this topic exist, but the usernames escape my memory at the moment, sorry.

I did write about this too but good luck finding it. At some point, and very early in the game, I stopped using Bruce Wayne's A++ Parenting tag because isn't it basically always. One or two hugs to one or two kids in the recent comics do, like, zero to correct this impression.

I mean, there are fans that consider this breaking a character, but it's whatever for me. A great man could be a shitty parent. And whether he's all that great to begin with, is also a subject of debate by future in-universe historians. I do understand that for fans of Bruce or Batfam it could ruin the enjoyment, so if they tend to focus on the good things, more power to them. I'm yet to actually read any tho.

But most importantly, a parent you love and a parent who loves you and a parent who made you happy and who was with you through thick and thin at some point and a parent you are so alike with, and a parent who is also capable of doing the shittiest thing imaginable to you, or your siblings, - they're all could be the same parent.

Why do so many people want Tim to somehow be Damian's favorite brother and have him admire/look up to him so bad? Nothing about Tim could ever impressive Damian to that degree, hell he's not like that toward Dick & Cass, whom he actually admire/love for real.

IDK but its so cringe. It's like (@those people) sometimes your blorbo can just not be admired by everyone who interacts with them. sometimes people can dislike them for no reason or even for good reasons.

Not like I think Damian dislikes Tim (at least post 2011 or so Damian) I just don't think he thinks about him much at all. Which I guess is maybe worse for "My blorbo must be center of the universe" people XD
