Out of curiosity, what direction would you have taken Cullen's character in Inquisition? Or would you have included him at all? :3

oh man well

first of all i’m not sure i’m the best person to answer the question because i am profoundly uninterested in cullen. even in dao, his most cohesive appearance by a mile, where he features in my favourite origin, he um... he sure is there! he serves his narrative purpose! i don’t know what else to say

more in the spirit of actually answering your question, i think dragon age inquisition is as fundamentally incapable of making good use of cullen as a game that would make cullen part of its main squad inherently must be. dragon age inquisition is not capable of breaking down what is wrong with the templars, which is why you get... i don’t know why people call it a redemption arc even in quotation marks. he just shows up. he still supports the templars, and would rather you go to them, who shouted you down in the street, than the mages, who by all appearances straight up invite you over. he has not had to face the consequences of his work in the templar order or his treatment of mages; for all intents and purposes, from his perspective, all he did wrong was not notice that his knight-commander was an anomaly who was crazy. he is fundamentally the exact same guy who told me to my face mages were not people, except he’s polite about it now, because this is dragon age inquisition and we all just need to shut up and come together to defeat the Real Problems. it is completely canonically possible for him to have taken part in two circle annulments, one of which he personally instigated. dragon age inquisition does not care!

so to take cullen in a decent direction for his character—if you insisted on bothering to include him in yet another game at all—you would have to be writing him in a different game than the one where the hero has no choice but to lead an organisation with cassandra and cullen at their side, where every challenge to that organisation’s divine purpose is laughed off. (meanwhile one seemingly humble elven apostate, who actually has entirely other concerns, is the only compulsory mage. no rebel aligned mages are even optional companions in the game.)

i am interested in what it would theoretically take to write a compelling ex templar character. my own inquisitor is an ex templar! dragon age is a series designed to challenge your ideas of what backgrounds allies can come from, and designed to throw in your face that, for better or worse, good or evil, everyone on every side is also a person who believes they have their own reasons to do what they do. but if you wanted the ex templar character to be cullen, you have to challenge the foundations of his beliefs as a templar. you have to make him... actually regret being a templar? criticise the templars for anything other than imperfect service to the chantry and impolite wording of their deadly prejudices? you might even want to consider centring his personal quest on, hey, the terrible things he’s done and believed, not on the harm to the poor little stoic self-sacrificing templars

sorry this is coming across a little aggressive. you see why i’m the wrong person for the job. i don’t like cullen and he was an antagonistic force in the previous two games who my characters felt personally threatened by. i don’t see why i have to swallow that he’s one of the good guys now without him facing a single consequence, much like cassandra, who was introduced interrogating my friend. (but hey, this religious army has good intentions!) and i certainly don’t see why you would not only do all that but make him the face of a ludicrously flat, wish fulfillment romance only available for women of the conventionally attractive races (available for circle mages! with a throwaway line about how she’s not like the other girls to address it!) to get straight married and settle down with a dog and a picket fence. (i’m not saying there is no place for wish fulfillment romances whose only stumbling block is cutesy awkwardness. but that’s not what dragon age is for! where’s the teeth! it’s representative of a wider tone change in dai that i deeply dislike and if i get onto it i’m going to make this post so long. and with this man?)

idk i think cullen should have been the rogue templar breaking rules to hunt wardens in awakening and sigrun should’ve got to cut his head off. the end. that’s my ideal. sorry again

I headcannon Lewin as an Obsessive and Possessive yandere.

Obsessive in the way in which well.. It's Lewin. He's obsessive by nature, Both by uncovering the mystery of what happened in section thirteen and his absolute love of demons. This transfers over to you, Definetly, You're the pinnacle of his obsession with him needing to know absolutely everything about you.

Possessive in the way in which Lewin believes that you are his and his alone. I headcannon (canon?) that he's a third-generation nephilim of Azazel, And he has certainly developed the way demons love. AKA meaning that he has a desire to own you, And that possessiveness being the driving force of his love.

Lewin is very touchy-feely with his love as well. It's a demon thing he inherited where he just subconsciously likes to let both you and everyone else know that you're taken. And to your displeasure/delight, He also enjoys getting raunchy in rather.. Public areas.

Lewin growing an obsession for you is very unfortunate and I can see happening in two different ways.

The first is where you're an exorcist, Maybe middle class or higher who has a love for demons just like he does. You're a tamer, You like to study them and are enamoured.

Lewin would notice you since you stick out like a sore thumb in the demon-hating world that is the true cross. Maybe you run into him one day during a mission, The only one who agrees with him and can tolerate his presence.

This peaks his interest, And we all know how dangerous that can be..

The other way Lewin could become enamoured with you is the exact opposite way. You hate demons, You loathe them with a passion. No matter if it's a coal tar or a Greenman, It doesn't matter as they are all monsters in your eyes.

Lewin would probably notice you from the way his sylphs definetly fear you, Having built up a reputation. Lewin, Being the jerk he is, Would probably take to teasing you and trying to convince you that demons aren't all that bad. You, Of course, Loathing him and his demons with all your being.

I'm going to go for the latter in this headcannon.

Lewin would've met you for being a backup on one of his missions. Perhaps you're a higher class exorcist due to your ruthlessness and efficiency of killing demons, Maybe even a fellow Arc Knight!

Lewin probably catches on to your remarkable distaste for demons quickly, And begins to tease you just as fast. He likes following you around, Laughing as he tries to half-heartedly make friends with you.

You, Of course, Are annoyed both by his personality and his absolutely rotten stench. You try to get him off of you, But him being an Arc Knight makes it very difficult to do so.

I feel like Lewin would take amusement in your distaste for him, Only fuelling his antics even more. It becomes a daily thing, Him often assigning you on the same missions as him so he can mock you for a past-time.

By now, He's just being Lewin with no sign of Obsession in sight.

But after a rather tough mission when you're in an airport away from the rest of the squad, Talking on the phone to someone, Does the spark of obsession really start to take fold.

Lewin's sitting away just out of earshot. You're on the phone to somebody.. But who? Lewin's curiosity gets peaked but as he tries to move closer, Both with him and his sylphs, You move away.

For some reason, This irks him. You're on the phone to somebody that's not him that you could potentially be informing of this top-secret mission.

You could be on the phone to someone that could possibly be with the Illuminati! You could be a traitor.. Yes, What if you were a traitor? What if that was just a family member or a receptionist filling in an application you've been meaning to complete?

He wants to know who, His curiosity grows by the second. But he can't get closer, You are vigilant and know to keep a good eye on him.. How observant of you!

This interest continues past the mission, Suddenly him following you around becomes less of a way of entertainment and more of an interrogation. Lewin begins to ask off-handed questions about your life, And you being on guard, Deflect it with ease.

This annoys Lewin even more. That itch inside him telling him to know more becomes worse by the second. It also sucks to know that past your general info, Your life has been strictly kept private to everyone, Even to an Arc Knight like him.

You have no social media, You have no friends in the Vatican or outside of it. You're a complete ghost, And not the kind he likes!

So its only natural that what he does next is only a precaution..

Lewin bugs your phone once you become careless one day, Leaving it out so vulnerable for the taking. Of course, Lewin has no guilt about this. He's only doing this for the good of the order, After all! Communicating with someone after a mission

You've been communicating with your boyfriend. That night you were telling him that you were okay, That you were fine. He told you how much he missed you, How much he worried for you.

And for some reason, It disgusts him.

Lewin is a difficult man to get disgusted, Usually calm and level-headed. But this? This is strange, He had finally found the piece of information he had been fishing for but instead of relief or the ego-stroke he usually go he felt.. Enraged, Genuinely repulsed..!

But Lewin isn't a man distant from his emotions, No. He's very aware of what and why he is feeling this way.

He's in love!

And wowee! What a feeling it is!

Lewin feels like a teenage boy getting a crush on a girl for the first time. Though he doesn't show it outright, Keeping his usual personality, You can notice a certain kick to his actions now. Like he's in a much better mood lately.

But that mood is instantly soured once he remembers just why he figured out his love for you in the first place.

Your "boyfriend". The man that isn't him. You may not have any social media, But your boyfriend certainly does and Lewin takes full advantage of it.

He stays up late, Much later than he usual does just to doom scroll through your Boyfriends social media pages. He scoffs at every selfie together or the pictures of what you ate on your date night. Lewin scoffs at him for trying too hard. Too distant as well as with your job, Him only being there for only a portion of your time.

He also may or may not send a few of his more.. Subtle demons to keep watch of him. Who knows? He might be with the the Illuminati, Though Lewin does doubt it as he doesn't think the Illuminati would hire someone who can't do anything right.

Around you? He does change.

Lewin's teasing turns to something much more flirtatious, I mean this man is pulling out all the stops. Every second sentence is a pick-up line, The first is a rather direct compliment towards your "assets".

You, Of course, View this as him trying to annoy you in just another way. Lewin's general personality doesn't change so it's rather easy to see it as such, So you just move on with your day and continue to shoot him down at any chance.

Lewin, Who likes to bring fast food on missions, Begins to bring you a serving too. How he knows your taste and your usual order, Who knows? But you don't care, You always turn it down, You don't trust Lewin.

Of course, This annoys Lewin. He doesn't understand why you'd turn him down and decide to stay with a man who couldn't even be with you most of the time. Lewin knows he'd be a better match, You have all your missions together, After all!

Though Lewin doesn't act on his growing urges, The ones that tell him that he needs to do something about this. He

But that all changes when you come into work one day with a ring on your finger.

Lewin spots it immediately, And as soon as he does he falls silent.

This is strange for him, Disturbing too. Though you can't see his eyes behind his hair, You can tell that he is staring dead at the rather expensive diamond adorning your ring finger. It almost makes you feel nervous.

You explain to him about your boyfriend and your engagement but he isn't listening. Though he quickly recovers his persona, Grinning, Patting you on the back and congratulating your marriage before walking off.

You don't think anything of it, Thinking it of just weird behaviour before going back to work.

But Lewin?

Lewin is pissed.

Are you seriously gonna marry a guy you won't even be able to see most of the time? Are you really gonna decide that some nobody who works in a corporate office is better than an Arc Knight like him?

This is the point where he's pushed over the edge, Lewin doesn't care anymore as he summons some of the highest ranking demons he has in his arsenal.

But he doesn't kill him.

No, Lewin is smarter than that. He has a better plan of getting him out of the way.

One day when you come home from a rather lengthy mission, Absolutely exhausted and wanting to just lie in bed with your fiancée is when disaster strikes.

Outside you find your house swarmed by members of the order, Your terrified as you run through them to find out what happened. Only for the captain of the squad to tell you what happened.

Your Fiancée was an Illuminati spy who was found smuggling cases worth of order documents while you were away. He had been lying to you this entire time and had been brought in to gather information.

You're heartbroken, Absolutely wrecked and betrayed as you break down crying. How could he do this to you? You've been in love since childhood, Did that mean nothing to him?

Lewin is thrilled, His plan working to a T. He had gotten your boyfriend out of the picture. Though it hadn't gone entirely on track as you have taken a leave of absence due to the grief you are wracked with.

But that doesn't stop Lewin from showing up at your new apartment with your order of fast food, Easily sauntering in to talk with you for hours while you lie in bed defeated.

You found it horrid at first, Your fiancée had been an Illuminati spy and Lewin decided to annoy you even then. But you've been isolated from everyone else for so long that.. You start to look forward to these visits.

Lewin brings you your groceries, He takes care of the bills and the rent (With his own money, Not that you'll know) and you start to talk to him without a single hint of aversion. Lewin is overjoyed by this, Finally getting a bit of attention!

He wonders if you'd still talk to him like this if you knew how your boyfriend was being tortured, If you knew it was him that was leading it.

But one night when Lewin decides to come over again, He finds you absolutely wasted, Having drank an entire bottle of wine, The one your Fiancée gave you to celebrate your engagement.

You barely remember anything of that night, Not remembering how you had kissed him and he to you. Not remembering how he had led you to your bed and taken the lead.

You only remember waking up naked, Lying against Lewin's chest as he slept and a hangover making your head throb.

You should feel disgusted that you slept with him, Disgusted that you did it so quickly after your fiancée's betrayal. You should kick him out your bed and never see him again.

But, You don't.

You want the contact, You want the physical touch to comfort you. As much as you don't want this, You close your eyes and go back to sleep cuddled up to him, All the while Lewin watches through the parting of his hair.

And this signals the domestic stage.

You and Lewin's relationship is strange to say the least. Makeshift, But it somehow works.

You come back to work with him one day. Your co-workers absolutely shocked to find that Lewin's now your partner, It was strange seeing the man you despised follow you around without you batting an eye or throwing an insult.

You now accept the fast food he brings for you, Let him throw an arm around you and start to flirt with you. And sometimes you even give him a rather sultry response, Always making him stop and gawk for a second before returning back to his usual persona.

Your dates consist of late night mission reports and trips to several fast food chains. It's not as extravagant as your old partner use to give you, But it's more personal and you have a good time with him.

Lewin also gets insanely jealous of anyone who decides to get a little too close to you. Giving passive aggressive jabs at whoever all with that shit-eating grin on his face and an arm locked around your waist.

Of course, That's all you see. You only think he's just a little possessive.

But you don't see how much of a jealous monster he is, Nor do you ever see the man who flirted with you ever again. Co-worker, Friend or stranger.

You're his, He won you and got his prize. Lewin's not going to let anyone come in the way of that, He doesn't even need to get his hands dirty as his demons do all of the work.

You officially move into his place and it instantly becomes much cleaner than it was before, Disgusted by the state of it. In a week it becomes spotless, Lewin being a little annoyed that all his research was now "organized" but gets over it quickly once he sees your proud face.

Your relationship is also VERY steamy.

This man is on you whenever he can, Pulling you into closets or even getting a bit risky during meetings. Lewin has no shame when it happens in a place someone could easily walk in on you two, Even enjoys it. While he does not want kids, He certainly doesn't act like it. Birth control is your only saviour in this relationship.

You'd also need to buy a lot more turtle-necks and other adjacent clothing, Him being possessive makes him like to leave marks absolutely everywhere.

You have a strict rule where you keep your demon-hating away from his demon-loving, Neither of you bringing up your opinions on the subject.

Your relationship, Weird, But it works.

But if you ever found out what happened to your previous boyfriend..?

Screaming, Crying. An absolute breakdown as you throw things at him, Desperate to get away from Lewin. He had tortured and eventually killed the man you wanted to marry, You were horrified, Terrified!

Lewin on his end is annoyed, Just annoyed. Even though he had killed the man ages ago, He still comes back to get in his way. Lewin tries to calm you down with a level-head.

"Hey! You're happy with me now, Right? So who cares about the other guy, Didn't matter what happened to him."

You try to run away, Leave the apartment but your ankles are suddenly sliced by sylphs. You fall to the ground in agony, Shaking and crying as you yell out in pain.

Lewin comes over to you, He's not acting any different to how he usually is. He tells you that you're never going to get away from him before pulling you up to carry your body in a bridal position.

He kisses you, But it was no longer sweet as it once was. You cry, Trying to get out.

Lewin tells you that he's not gonna lock you up, No, That would be just cruel and who would he be as your loving boyfriend to do that to you?

No, All you need to do is prick your finger and sign the contract in front of you with your own blood. Don't worry about what it says, Just sign the contract and everything will go back to normal.

Lewin will not let you go, You are his, He'll make sure you'll know it.

DnD headcanons for once piece are fun because One Piece partly feels like the DnD phenomena of „I’f you play a serious character you’ll eventually end up in some extremely stupid months python knights of the coconut scenario.“ and „You name a character Dildo Saggins and next thing you know the entire party is crying genuine tears at Dildos extremely selfless death at the end of his character arc.“

Just „Behold: Law the surgeon of death who lost his parental figure at an extremely young age and had to watch…. And his squad off comedic relief pirates, one of which is an actual bear who also drags him to an idol concert, getting into a alliance with someone who rolls extremely high on power of friendship at all times. Also has a comical hatred of bread.“

And „Gather around friends and weep at the sad, sad story of Buggy the clown who watched his own father figure get executed and abandoned his dreams after being in the shadow of his best friend, a man he now hates, for years.“

Help 😭 So that's why it feels so real when I imagine the characters playing DnD-- I just feel like half of them would love the game so much lmao. OP looks silly but then it shatters your heart completely.

Overanalyzing King's POV cause Imma defend my KING

part 1 cause this is a long one

I'm not saying King didn't mess up cause he did. Mistakes are made and there are severe consequences because of it. I'm here to defend him in some capacity cause I think some people (mostly people on reddit) are not really understanding him.

Let's start to where it all began. Kiane losing Nasiens, for them to lose their first born must have been heartbreaking and to top it all off it is caused by King's own kin.

Based on what Tioreh said here, there are only rumors going around that Kiane's first child is a changeling, which means that maybe the fairy that took Nasiens may not be from their forest and the changeling is done by secret and the reason why this rumor started spreading in the first place is because of Mertyl and how everyone questions his relation to Kiane.

Which leads me to one of my conspiracy theories

I made this post a while back discussing the possibility that Nasiens was intentionally taken from them and hidden as far away as possible.

But, regardless of who had the balls to steal away the first born of Kiane, Nasiens is still taken away from them and Mertyl is in the crib. Now, Kiane never found Nasiens which means there's no way for them to know whose Mertyl's real parents are so they decided to just take him as their own.

That decision takes a lot out of a person. Because adopting is one thing, a lot of good hearted people would do that in a heartbeat but this is different. Mertyl is a child that is switched with their real one, for a parent Mertyl's entire existence is a constant reminder of that. For Kiane to raise him, care for him and love him as their own, god I have no words to describe it.

Also, I noticed one odd detail. So far through this entire arc, characters clocked the similarities between Nasiens and Kiane and said that he looks like them. However, throughout the Percy Platoons entire journey no one of close association with Kiane has said anything about this especially because they should know that they have a missing child. Heck Lancelot, not once did he mentioned that he looked similar to someone he knows.

But we have this panel.

Chapter 83. The moment the squad first met Elizabeth and Meliodas for the first time and the group was knighted. Notice how both Anne and Donny's face is shown but when it comes to Nasiens it's just a simple shot of both him and Meliodas. It's a rather important moment for everyone that I find it weird that Nasiens face isn't shown unless Nakaba is trying to hide something. At this moment, Meliodas is face to face with Nasiens there's no way he couldn't tell. He should recognize that face and I think he did and that is why he sent them to the Fairy Kings Forest. It's his way of telling King that his kid is found even if at the time it's probably just an assumption.

Next time I'll be diving into the who Mertyl is adopted situation and Kiane keeping it a secret this entire time

earlier this week, i reached out to sean w. cunningham, one of the creators of knight squad (as well as the thundermans and julie and the phantoms). i just wanted to say thank you for creating knight squad and tell him it meant a lot to me. to my surprise, he actually responded and he was so nice. he told me he’d reach out to me again later.

then, last night, he followed up! and he sent the following messages (providing image descriptions since tumblr kills the quality rip):

so yeah, there you have it! some clues about what some future episodes might have been if they had more time, and the confirmation that the creators were definitely thinking arc and ciara would eventually be a canon couple.

So I've decided to make a Captain Boomerang reading list

Here it is I guess. I'm only doing a Post-Flashpoint reading list cuz I'm not a fan of Pre-Flashpoint content for Captain Boomerang. Especially in terms of the 1987 Suicide Squad. But I will I guess put down Identity Crisis, because while it's not a very good story for Captain Boomerang and he acts super out of character, it's still technically canon I guess???? With the exception of Owen Mercer???? It's weird. I guess it's not really a reading list though, just a bunch of comics he shows up in???? I will be completely ignoring some though just because I didn't like them very much.

By this point I will also state that it's a good idea to read Suicide Squad (2016) issues #3-#5 as well as #9, #23, and #24 in the order in which they appear (#3 after #47. I put #47 after #2 because of the little section within the last 8 pages of #2) (#9 is between #8 and Justice League VS Suicide Squad #1) (#23 you read after #22, and #24 after #23) (#26 you can skip. It's part of a different arc entirely and idk where it starts or stops) (And then wíth #45 and #46, while it is definitely part of the Suicide Squad story, you aren't hindered by ignoring it entirely and Captain Boomerang wasn't there at all)

I'd also read all of the 2019 Suicide Squad (below) but I didn't even really do that and I was mostly fine. Captain Boomerang only showed up in #4 and #5 but that story, as well as Captain Boomerang, continued on into The Flash Annual #3

(I know Captain Boomerang is in Suicide Squad Most Wanted: El Diablo and Boomerang #1 and #2, but he was not characterized very well in my opinion so for the life of me, I cannot recommend the comic at all.)

Comics he has 0 personality in but his design was so bomb that I cannot recommend it enough (someone please draw Captain Boomerang from Harley screws up the DCU. PLEASE!!! I'm on my knees begging. I don't care if you don't even remove the parasite on his face at this point. It's too much of a good design to waste)
