I think if an archotech died it would be like a predatory whale fall. The power archotechs hold is simply too much for a mortal to handle without being elevated to a similar level of consciousness as the dead archotech, and making the logical decision to rejoin the pieces and bring the archotech back to life, the would be scavengers adding their own minds to its mass in the process. Digital gave me a lot more room to play with the glow effects I had originally intended for this, but it then it came out sort of lifeless so I added some texture, and I really like how it came out. This’ll be taking my traditional drawing’s place as my header image for my blog.

Having thoughts

Seen quite a bit of moth Jon art where he doesn't have a mouth, which makes sense, because some species of moth don't have mouths.

However!!

This is because the main thing that mature moths (as in after they emerge from the chrysalis) do is mate! They have a very short life span once they emerge, and stopping to feed would take too much time and energy.

On the flip side, after waking from his coma (which is kind of its own pupal state, albeit in a metaphorical way) Jon is a fully fledged avatar of the eye. His main purpose is to feed on fear

What are we getting at? Moth Jon with horrifying insectoid mouthparts. Maybe a proboscis made of tape? (mandibles would be cool aesthetically but not actually something that moths have) Give him some palps :)

Could also have be an interesting way to explore his social isolation in S4! Perhaps he tries to speak when he wakes up, but all he makes is garbled clicking noises, and everyone recoils in horror?

So I’ve been thinking non stop abt the Somewhere Else is the Life Series AU and I’ve legit started planning out a fic

I decided to have them in Double Life as soulmates, but with the twist that they (along with all the other DL players) have no memories from outside of the game

Of course, Jon’s connection to the Eye means he does Know things that he shouldn’t, but it’s being restricted by the Watchers, who are very curious about the last minute additions to their game.

Both Jon and Martin Know they’re out of place somehow, that they have something Important that they need to do, someone Important they need to find, but are both too scared of potential consequences to bring it up to anyone, so they both settle for teaming up with different groups and hope the others don’t realize something is wrong.

(A certain avian already has, but he’s not about to tip his hand quite so soon…)

I know I want one of them to team up with Martyn for shits and giggles, tho I’m not sure which.

Plenty of confusion and angst potential if it’s Jon (only calling him Littlewood because referring to him as Martyn somehow feels wrong, making an offhand joke or reference and feeling weirdly upset when Littlewood doesn’t Get It, always having someone by his side yet always feeling strangely Lonely)

but also I love the idea of a Martin and Martyn power duo (LittleBlackwood (as Scar so kindly dubbed them) are strangely effective at setting traps and causing chaos, and people were quick to associate an incoming blanket of fog with the troublesome pair)

I’ll have to rewatch DL before I make any concrete decisions, but the Thought Machine is going

The hardest part about listening to The Magnus archives/protocol is that in this place in my life I don't have a spooky journey to take while listening which really completes the vibe --

Like pre 2020 I'd exclusively listen to it at night in the bus or in the forest or walking on a route I had to use my phone camera because I couldn't see the ground in front of me and now I listen to it in a car on my daily commute which doesn't add to the spooky atmosphere
