Finished my Fray cosplay and I'm super happy with how it turned out! Easily the most complicated cosplay I've made yet. Started working in April, so that's about 3-4 months of work off and on.

Really excited to debut him at Metrocon! If you're going, I'll be wearing it on Saturday for sure, maybe Sunday too. Come say hi!

Tell me about your osprey OC?

Gladly!!

So I made an oc years ago for an rp group called Valea Regilor on dA. The premise was that our characters were demons (in this case humanoids with animal characteristics) from either ancient Egypt or Rome. I made a character named Gaius Tulum from Rome. I don't remember exactly why I made him an osprey, but I think I was just looking at cool birds and was like "yeah, that one." In this group, he was a traveling merchant who could talk to animals. He could also turn his arms into wings and fly, but he was scared of flying. Thought it'd be hilarious for a bird to fear flying lol. Unfortunately, the group didn't last long, but the character stuck with me.

A few years later, I joined a new group called Revoice, also on dA. Revoice took place on another world of hybrids, humanoid people with animal characteristics. These hybrids could use magic of all sorts, and a school called Enhalo was created to train a generation of heroes and, for a select few, new demigods. My first character in that group was someone else (his name is Jericho and I'll gladly talk about him too lol), but for my second character, I revamped Gaius and tossed him in. Due to the change in scenery, I changed his entire backstory. In Revoice, Gaius was a guardsman-in-training who joined Enhalo for their demigod program as he showed potential to become one. He had the ability to charge electricity and shoot lightning from his body and wielded a harpoon as his primary weapon. From his previous incarnation, he retained his ability to turn his arms into wings, but also his fear of flying cause I still thought it'd make for an interesting weakness. He also spoke with a pirate-y accent (came from a remote fishing village founded by retired pirates) and had a love of sharks.

Gaius became one of my main rp characters for the duration of the group, which lasted years. Got a pet named Houdini, ran for student council president, got a boyfriend (his name is Huo and he belongs to my gf), and led teams on several missions into deadly dungeons to fight dangerous demons. In the end, he didn't become one of the world's new demigods (by my choice as his player), but he did go on to join Enhalo's new military group so he could continue leading the fight against the many threats of the world. May decide to retire and become a pirate someday though lol.

Anyway, ty for the opportunity to talk about my dumb gay bird. I still love him and I still draw him from time to time. And as of posting this, it's his birthday! June 6! So for funzies, I'm also gonna include a pic of the dream meme team, his best friends at Enhalo! Gaius on top of Huo's shoulders, Lacrimosa on the right with blue and pink hair, and Koi in the green vest (who belong to @molenaide, @jamesfalt, and @moonilymoth respectively).

Happy New Year! My yearly Davesprite is here to usher in 2024... it's been a quite the 2023! This also marks 10 years since I started this tradition... yippee!!!

I made the piece this year listening to @toontitsgoopbrain's davesprite tracks (give them a listen they're really good!)
