Warnings: None
Author’s Note: Hello! This was a requested fic. Unfortunately my tumblr acted up and ate up the request and I can’t exactly recall who sent it, so if you’re the person who told me they loved the way I wrote Ardeth Bay and that they wanted a fluffy romantic fic with a fem reader, please do dm me and I’ll tag you in this fic. Also, thank you for your lovely request, I tried to encapsulate the feelings I felt while reading your request and apologies in advance if this is a little shorter than usual.

The sun slowly melted into the golden dunes of the desert as the sky was bathed in a heady mix of crimson, tangerine and mahogany. The hot desert air slowly cooling as the glowing rays faded, descending further into the horizon. Darkness descended over the camp as the stars arose, twinkling gently alongside the moon.
The plagues upon the land had disappeared, the Medjai officials in the government working swiftly to cover up its mystical origins, yet the only word the Medjai camp had received was that the warriors were coming home and that Imhotep had been imprisoned once more.
A woman paced within her tent, constantly glancing at the entrance before returning to pacing. Eventually she tired, laying against her soft mattress and watching the entrance with rapt eyes. Breathing slowly, she rubbed her hands against her swelling stomach, impatience thrumming through her veins. As the sky changed shades and the moon illuminated her doorway her breathing slowed and her body relaxed, her bodily aches momentarily forgotten as her mind escaped into the chasm of dreams where she dreamt of warm arms and ebony irises.
She was slowly drawn from her slumber by feathery kisses upon her cheeks. Groggily opening her eyes she saw the face of the man she adored. His lips drawn into a smile as he gazed at her.
“Hello sweet wife,” he whispered with a husky voice.
“Ardeth?” She whispered full of disbelief.
“I’m here,” he said, smiling at his wife.
Overjoyed at his presence she pulled him to her arms, her grip around him tightening and unwilling to let go.
“I thought you’d- I thought-“ she stuttered out, sniffling as her mind brought forward her worst fears.
Rubbing her back he soothed her, “Shhh, it’s okay. I’m back and no one, not even an ancient mummy or Anubis himself could keep me away from you.”
Pulling away from her, he gazed into her eyes, vowing, “You, my sweet wife, are my very life. The air within my lungs and the sand beneath my feet. Without you, there is no me and I will never let you or our little one go.” Saying this he bent towards her stomach before placing soft kisses along her skin, feeling the little flutters of their baby’s movement along his hand he whispered, “I’m here, little one. I won’t leave you.”
Slowly moving away he cradled his wife against his body as he told her the tales of his recent death-defying adventure and as the stars looked down at the lovely couple, the desert breathed peace.

anyway I am going to spoil everyone's fun. The Mummy is a racist movie, it's frustrating that it's popular and no one discusses that, and let me explain why
Whitewashing/brownface/self orientalism. The Carnahan's are meant to be mixed race. Their actors are white. Oded Fehr is white and a significant portion of his career has been playing exotic brown people in media made for white people, specifically while weaponizing the ethnic ambiguity he does have. Imhotep is white- insult to injury, his actor is an Afrikaner! Playing a pre-colonial African character! The only Egyptians played by people who arent white are the sex pest warden, Dr. Bey (also a minor character who dies), and Anck-su-namun. None of their actors are Egyptian.
The portrayal of Egyptian men. The warden and Jonathan are both portrayed as pathetic, weak, morally circumspect, and the warden is a pervert. Imhotep is also a pervert, frankly. The Egyptian public at large- mostly male crowds and male workers- are literally canon fodder and senselessly killed on multiple occasions. They're turned into mindless zombies, with no consideration given to what happens to them afterwards. Did hundreds of people just die? In public? The only two Egyptian men that aren't utterly horrible are Evie's boss, Dr. Bey, and Ardeth.
The portrayal of Egyptian women. The only two we actually hear speak is Evie and Anck-su-namun, both of whom have orientalist tropes applied to them- Evie, when they make her dress "local", and Anck-su-namun with the whole titlating "the pharaoh has me walk around naked and covered in wet body paint so no one can touch me without him knowing" nonsense- similar tropes are applied to Ardeth, frankly, with how his tattoos are portrayed, his ethnic background, etc. They specifically chose tattoos a Western audience would still find sexy (which aren't based on the actual local tattooing traditions). Face veils in early 20th century Egypt didn't really look like that, even the ones you might call flirty, and I find portrayals that make Ancient Egyptian society's overall often greater comfort with bared skin into titillation for the audience pretty offensive, especially as there are currently existing cultures in Africa viewed through lenses like that. It's not merely ahistorical, it's apart of a broader issue with how living people are viewed by others.
This is more of a me thing, other Egyptians may not agree: I think mummies as a horror trope are racist. The key fear to mummy movies is that white people might get punished for disturbing the graves of the honored dead. You are asked to identify with literal colonizers and view the local population as antagonistic (past and present in this case), especially in this movie, which is set before England started pretending it wasn't controlling Egypt (and by the damn way, ask ANY Egyptian when the country got independence and we'll say 1956. Between 22 and 56, England still had explicit control over some of the government, notably foreign relations and military, it used this an excuse to justify control of Sudan, and it was militarily occupying the country, especially the Suez area. When King Farouk tried to make a decision they didn't like, they put his palace under seige. That is not independence. Whoever made the 1922 declaration the first result on Google is manufacturing apologia for imperialism).

My call sign is Reaper, don't ask me how I became the Reaper. My ticket to Top Gun was a surprise to not only myself but everyone around me. My commanding officer believed that a female deserved a chance to prove herself to the many men that had already graduated from the prestigious training school. I've flown with many of them on prior occasions. Although I will make sure to create a legacy for myself this time, I took the chance and will prove to myself and those around me that a woman can have it all: a man, a plane, and prestige. Broken & Betrothed 2
Summary: She is the sister of Nefertari and in love with her private guard but its forbidden and so they have to hide their relationship but her father, the pharaoh has betrothed her to another, so with a heavy heart she has to tell her lover that her father has betrothed her to someone else
Warnings: None, unless you hate happy endings
Part 1
Tumblr media
Walking through the palace at night, she had one location in mind. The Medjai had been stationed at the royal pools that night. He stared at his reflection in the dark waters, silent in his contemplation. The moon-less night reminded him of her, of her deep eyes that once twinkled when she looked at him. He sighed. Her betrothal had been broken yet he hadn’t gone to see her. He should’ve been the first to embrace her, he should’ve been by her side yet he couldn’t bring himself to face her. He knew he was right for keeping her safe, even if she would be miserable but he couldn’t stop picturing her grief-stricken face as her heart crumbled. He could still hear her sobs echo through her rooms. Her mournful songs echoed through the halls of the palace where he used to guard. Her voice still echoes in his nightmares.
“You abandoned me. You refused to even look at me!” she screamed in his head, repeatedly.
His eyes welled with tears as he got lost in his thoughts, within an endless maze of pain. His head throbbed; he hadn’t been sleeping properly. His eyes were unfocused yet he still saw her. She was a visage in white, almost ethereally glowing against the dark blackness of the night. Almost like she was the moon, adorned with the light of the sun.
She paused in front of him, simply staring at him. It had been weeks since he allowed her to be this close. She searched his face, noting his tired eyes. They didn’t sparkle anymore, almost as if his soul was removed.
“Ardeth,” she said, breaking the moment of tranquility.
The moment she spoke his name into existence, he realized she was not a mere hallucination, his beloved princess stood before him.
He tried moving away from her, guilt consuming his being, yet she didn’t let him, moving in front of him in a child-like attempt to make him stay.
“I must go, your Highness,” he said, side-stepping her and walking along the banks of the pool.
“No, listen to me Medjai.” She said with authority in her voice, causing him to halt. “You shall not turn away from me again. You will listen to what I have to say. I command it of you.” At her command he turned to her, his desire to turn away overridden by her command.
She faced him with a look of determination, “I have decided that I will no longer be afraid, I will not be bound. I will not be broken by anyone or anything again, not even you.”
He moved to interrupt her, thinking she was finally breaking things off with him. She held up her hand, stopping him from speaking, “I have decided that I’m going to take what I want, what I desire. And what I desire is you. And I do not care about the consequences. Not anymore.”
He stared at her, stunned, his mind processing what she’d said, “Okay.” He said simply.
“Okay?” She said, trying to reconfirm his agreement.
“Okay.”
“Good,” she said before turning to walk away before reconsidering and turning back around. With quick steps, she walked up to the stunned Medjai. Wrapping her hand around his nape she pulled him down before crashing her lips into his. His lips molded against hers. It was wet, hot and full of desperation, as if they were trying to make up for lost time. Their bodies melded into one, relaxing against one another, as if finally coming home after a long time.
She broke away from the kiss, breathing heavily as she looked into the eyes of her lover, “This doesn’t fix anything, you still have a lot of groveling to do, but I’m willing to give you a chance. This is your last and only chance.” She said seriously.
“I will treasure this chance with my life, just like I should have treasured you,” he said, with a slight smile on his face, thanking Hathor for blessing him with a second chance and the beautiful woman between his arms.

Wanted to do a style challenge with classic horror guys in the Darkest Dungeon style and ended up with the worst D&D party ever.
Karloff mummy gave me a hard time. I honestly thought oh, the man is a literal stick in that movie I can do that… wrong. I redid his face like three times and the entire lineart at the end, because his height was off. I also used more of a Frankenstein green color for the skin to get a crusty mummy dust look. Gogol stands out a lot, because he has the least going on with his design and he is smooth as an egg. Ygor came out the best and he was the first one I did. I also looked up figurines to get an idea of what color the outfits would be (and yes there is a Gogol one and it looks as bad as you would imagine… still want it tho) and I’m glad that there are regional variants lol.
If anyone would like to mod them into the game feel free to, maybe then I would actually finish it. Game mechanic brainstorming under the cut.
Ygor – He is clearly the muscle. I think he should be able to summon the monster as well, but doing so would give anyone, but him stress. I mean that’s his mans, why would he get stressed.
Ardeth Bey – Magic user, could attack multiple enemies at once, but also takes a lot more damage. He’s a crumbling mummy dust after all.
Dr. Gogol – The healer, whenever he remembers to do so. He will just talk to himself about Galatea and giggle maniacally giving everyone stress. Every 5th round he will remember that he is a doctor and will do a heal. If you don’t control him, why is he in the game? Extra challenge that’s why. Weaknesses include knives.

I forgot to mention but would like y'all to know that I rewatched both of the Mummy movies and subsequently fell into the Ardeth Bay/Jonathan Carnahan on AO3 and I'm having a sinking feeling that it won't be long enough for my taste ;_;
