Spy x family: Chapter 37
Okay, this chapter is by far my favorite for now. There are too many things to talk about but I'll try to make this short, for more just ask me or comment.
The chapter began showing us the security of Eden academy. We already knew it's a prestigious school but seeing this is proof enough to confirm why WISE chose the best spy they have. And who doesn't know mr Hamilton
I like the realism of Twilight, the best spy of the west, struggles with his mission and think in all situations instead of interrupting in the reunion disguised without consequences as most of the shounen protagonists. Makes the story goes slow but refreshing when there's progress and feels more thought-out.
Many fans thought Twilight had to kill Donovan, although I didn't think WISE wouldn't go to so much trouble if the goal is to kill him; now it's almost 100% sure this won't happen unless he messed up. And the part of establish continuous contact would mean this mission could take many time, maybe years. Good because the Forgers would be permanent or at least Loid and Yor would have time enough to develop feelings and want to stay together with Anya and Bond
These panels hurt me a bit. Such a cold brother plus bootlickers who only want to befriend you because of the importance of your father, who also doesn't try to spend time with you or pay attention of his second son... he must feel awful with himself, though he doesn't have the fault. But Becky wanting to go shopping with Anya again made it bittersweet.
Damian thinking Ewen was going to say that Anya had feelings for him (something we desire but it's false) was wholesome, because he won't admit he really wants to be loved and be sure of Anya's feelings before confessing his. Then he said she only approaches him for his father (something we don't want but it's true) and Anya with the necessity of punching him again, all was "bruh". Hilarious, but bruh
Anya's speech hit different thinking like this: Using the comedy as disguise of the reality of a orphan six or less years old who doesn't have the certainty that her father truly loves her or will abandon her once his mission is over, trying her best in studies so her pa won't reject her, similar to Damian's situation of doing his best, but failing and deciding to still studying while being honest with him and saying it in front of the same trio who make fun of her so she could help Twilight by raising Damian's spirit.
Plus the gold fish memory moment is too relatable
Things I noticed and loved:
Nervous Damian, shy and a little blushed, waiting his dad
Becky wingwoman moment hoping to see with her own eyes the "daughter in law and father in law" moment she's not the only one tho and serious Anya questioning her bff mental health. Half of seconds later and the serious mood is gone, and Martha's smile while carries Anya is adorable
Twilight being a good spy and making a copy of Anya's key chain spending only 10 dalcs in its fabrication
I know this doesn't seem that funny, but it reminded me to the meme "there's x, act natural" ft Loid Forger.
Jokes aside, even Damian and his minions felt surprised with that exaggerated apology, still being a good actor, Oscar for his interpretation skills. Damian meeting his crush's father Loid was something I wanted to see since chapter 9, but there's a detail I haven't seen until now: just a silly question, what if Damian blushed a bit not only because Loid knows his name but because he could think Anya has told her parents about him?
This. This damn moment gives tension, specially for that calm but intimidating smile.
Unexpected and great moments in one chapter. This arc is promising
PS: In the panel where two men talk about the security one of them mentioned the SSS, implying the secret police could be used for the prevention of intruders. Maybe we'll see Yuri in this arc? He's the second lieutenant of the SSS after all
