I'm having surgery in 12 days, and THREE of my coworkers came to work sick last week.

So, yeah. I'm now fighting off the cold they were kind enough to pass on while attempting to refinish my hardwood floors so that when I only have one arm for 6 weeks they aren't driving me insane with how terrible they are.

I may call out sick on Monday.

i’ve been supporting hellcheer shipper on here the last few days and reminding everyone to back off them, but let me get one thing clear: hellcheer shippers need to back off of steddie fans too. like to be clear: if you are a hellcheer fan and you are claiming steddie fans are crazy for liking their ship or (even fucking worse) homophobic you need to shut the fuck up. like actually.

you can call out people who are making hellcheer shippers feel like shit, just as i, right now, am only calling out the people who have tried to make steddie shippers feel like shit. but first off, generalizing a group of (mostly queer) fans as homophobic or biphobic or sexist or whatever bullshit people have been saying is just fucked up. second off, most of us don’t give a shit if joe supports hellcheer!!! we’re totally happy if he does!!! because he’s supported steddie, too. it just means more people are winning!!! and eddie’s queer as hell!!! and he has two hands to hold those of his cute jock significant others!!! these are good fun things for us. your insistence that we are all the same (often coupled with the insistence that joe hasn’t said anything about steddie, when he has and it’s been positive) is so harmful and cruel. you are lashing out at all of us for the point of lashing out—and it’s stupid and silly.

once again, i am not defending anyone who actively attacks hellcheer shippers. if i wasn’t gayer than the fourth of july and headcannoning two of my favs as queer, i would so happily ship hellcheer. their interactions are cute! and hellcheer and steddie are like two sides of the same coin: popular jock meets town freak. anyone who says hellcheer shippers are unfounded (or attacks grace) can eat shit.

but a lot of us queer kids found kinship in eddie. a lot of enjoyed the implied nod to hanky code. a lot of us hoped that this meant we got another explicitly queer character in this show so that people stopped tokenizing robin. a lot of us hoped we could see a happy functional queer friend group in a show that takes place during one of the scariest, unsafest times to be queer. and just because that didn’t happen doesn’t mean we can’t keep enjoying our happy cute queer ship, or writing fix-it fics, or wishing eddie was still alive to be a positive figure.

it also doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy hellcheer, separate and apart of our queer ship. you totally can. you can keep writing and drawing and making cute posts where everyone lives and life is good. i won’t take that away from any of you.

but please i’m begging you all: don’t let this turn into the byler/mileven drama. eddie is dead and not coming back—and if he does it’ll not be in any way conducive to a relationship. don’t ruin his character by fighting. let people ship who they want to ship. let people enjoy the characters the way they want.

tldr: stop attacking people who ship hellcheer, and stop attacking people who ship steddie.
