LUCEMOND AU FIC IDEA:
[No dance of the dragons]
(I just posted a funny quote and it gave me this fic idea)
Lucerys has always looked up to Aemond, to the point where he'd fallen in love with him. People would always see a little Lucerys following his uncle around with a big smile on his face. Aemond used to be nice to him , until he lost his eye.
Apologies where given and Aemond told Lucerys that he forgave him. Lucerys believe him at first. That is until he noticed that Aemond no longer smiled at him. He was no longer friendly towards him and ended up giving him the cold shoulder. Lucerys stopped following him around.
Rhaenyra took her family to live on Dragonstone so that her children could learn about their ancestors. While they are there, Lucerys writes letters to Aemond every week. He tells him about Dragonstone and about the gods of old valirya. He writes about daily things that happen to him every week.
Lucerys also writes to Heleana and Aegon, but not as frequently as he does to Aemond. He receives letters back from both Aegon and Heleana. They let him know that Aemond receives all of the letters he sends him. Aemond never writes back.
6 years pass, and Lucerys never stopped writing to Aemond. Rhaenyra thinks it's time to take her family back to Kingslanding so that Jace and Luke can start looking for potential suitors and partners.
Jace is excited, he wants to make friends and maybe find his future lord or lady. Lucerys couldn't care less for such things. He just wants to see his uncle.... and Heleana.
When they reach the red keep , they are greeted by a healthy king Viserys, the queen, the hand and Aegon. Heleana is also there with her children. Lucerys notices that Aemond is nowhere to be found.
They are welcomed warmly, and they settle in quite easily. Lucerys decided to visit the training grounds. And there he sees his uncle. He watches him fight and is impressed by how skilled he is. When Aemond spots him, he stops for a moment, and then carries on. When he's finished, he leaves in a hurry. Lucerys didn't get the chance to greet his uncle.
He sees him again at their first dinner together. It's a big feast to celebrate princess Rhaenyra's return. Lucerys rushes to sit by Aemond's side and tries to speak to him. Aemond is civil, he's polite and answers when spoken to. Lucerys takes notice of the fact that Aemond seems to speak more freely around anyone other than him.
Over the next few months, Lucerys tries everything to gain his uncle's affection. He's seen the way Aemond is around Heleana and the kids, he sees how he acts around his mother, and he even seems to enjoy sparring with Daemon. Luke realises that Aemond is only cold towards him.
Lucerys thinks that perhaps Aemond still hasn't forgiven him for taking his eye. But when he confronts him about it, Aemond assures him that the past is in the past. That bring Lucerys back to square one. If he's been forgiven, then why does Aemond treat him with such cold indifference?
Weeks go by, and Lucerys refuses to give up. He follows Aemond around, tries to spar with him(even though he's terrible), he gets books from the libraries so that they can discuss topics of interest together. Aemond seems to be opening up a little , and invites Luke to go flying with him. Lucerys is ecstatic. They fly on Vhagar and Arrax through the skies.
Aemond is still quite cold in the way he speaks to Lucerys, but Luke doesn't care. He knows that with time, he can get his uncle to love his as he did when they were kids. Luke does wonder why he tries so hard to please his uncle, but he doesn't put much thought into it.
As the days pass by they grow a bit closer. This makes Lucerys happy. Courting season is about to begin and Lords and ladies from all over the seven kingdoms come to kingslanding to find their match.
Many feasts are held, and tournaments are planned. During this time , Lucerys doesn't see much of Aemond. Rhaenyra tells Lucerys to try and make connections with other Lords and ladies around his age. Lucerys really does try, but he can't stand the fake smiles and compliments. He knows what these people really think when they speak to him.
After days of boring talks and fake pleasantries, Lucerys actually meets someone who seems genuinely interesting . There is no judgement or negative emotions that Luke can get from this man. When he asks for his name, the lord smiles and excuses himself.
Luke wonders about this mystery Lord until the last day of the tournaments has arrived. Lucerys sees that Aemond is going to participate , and naively hopes that Aemond would ask for his favour. He doesn't. He rides towards the stands and speaks to a lady no one can recognise. She gives him her favour, and he smiles at her.
Lucerys doesn't know what he's feeling. Why is Aemond smiling with such warmth towards a lady he probably met only a few days ago? Lucerys is conflicted when another horse approaches the stands. A mysterious Knight with his helmet on asks for Luke's favour.
Lucerys gives it to him reluctantly, not seeing the look of anger his uncle sends their way. Rhaenyra seems pleased though. Daemon looks at Lucerys with what seems to be pride. Luke is happy that he somehow pleased his parents.
The tournament goes on for what feels like hours until there are only two fighters left, Aemond and the masked knight. They fight on their horses, and the Knight manages to knock Aemond off. They keep on fighting after that. They use their swords, and they punch and shove. This goes on for a while until Aemond trips the knight and beats him.
Cheering can be heard all around them. Lucerys is glad his uncle has won, but wants to make sure that the masked knight is alright. While everyone congratulates Aemond for winning, Lucerys runs to the tents to see the other knight. Aemond sees him running off. He doesn't seem pleased.
When he enters , he sees the man take off his mask. Its the mystery man from the other day. When he sees Lucerys, he flushes and apologises for not introducing himself earlier. From the wolf sigil outside the tent, Lucerys correctly assumes that the man behind the mask is Lord Cregan Stark.
Cregan apologises for not wining the last match and gives Luke a crown of flowers he had made. Lucerys accepts it kindly. Aemond suddenly enters the tent. He sees Lucerys next to Cregan and demands to know what they are doing together alone.
Cregan assures the prince that nothing untoward was going on. Aemond ignores him and grabs Lucerys by the arm. He drags him out and takes him back to his chambers. Once in his own chambers, Lucerys asks Aemond why he was so rude to the Lord of the North. Aemond doesn't answer and simply tells him not to go near Cregan Stark again.
Luke is happy that his uncle's attention seems to be only on him , and he almost listens to him. But then he remebers the lady who gave him her favour, how he put the crown on her head with a smile on his face. If Aemond can go around being friendly to random ladies, then he can speak to the Lord of the North if he so pleases.
That night, a final feast is held. Lucerys is enjoying the food and watching everyone dance. Cregan approaches the Royal table and asks Lucerys for a dance. Luke almost declines, but then he sees them. Aemond is dancing with the lady from the stands. They look perfect together.
Lucerys accepts Cregan's hand and the dance to a song. They talk and laugh. Luke almost forgets about Aemond. When the music stops, luke turns and sees Aemond standing right next to them, with a furious look on his face. He tells Cregan to hand his nephew over.
Cregan tells Aemond that he simply asked Lucerys to dance. Aemond reminds him that it is inappropriate to dance with someone you do not mean to court. Silence fills the room. Cregan looks Aemond in the eye and states that he has every intention on courting Lucerys. Everyone is shocked, to say the least.
Aemond punches him. They tumble to floor as they punch and kick each other. Luke screams for them to stop. Daemon grabs Luke and takes him to his room. The last thing Lucerys sees before exiting the ballroom is Aemond being dragged off of Cregan. They lock eyes for a moment before the door closes.
Over the next few days, Rhaenyra warns Lucerys not to be around either Aemond or Cregan while he's alone. Lucerys doesn't want to cause trouble , so he agrees. That very night, a dark figure enters Luke's room. When Lucerys sees his uncle standing by the window he almost has a heart attack.
Aemond watches him, Lucerys is dressed in only his night clothes and goes to cover up. Aemond stops him. He demands to know why Luke didn't listen to him , why he didn't avoid Cregan like he told him to.
Lucerys, for the first time ever, snaps at Aemond. He tells him that he has no right to tell him who he can or can't see , not when he himself is courting some lady of the court. Aemond goes to answer, but Luke keeps going. He tells him that he's been trying so hard to get along with him.
He just wanted Aemond to look at him with warmth, he wanted him to smile at him the way he smiled at the lady. He wanted Aemond to love him the way he loved Aemond. Lucerys doesn't realise that he's crying. Aemond looks surprised.
Lucerys looks up and tells him that he won't bother him anymore, he won't follow him around. Now he can be with the woman he loves. He tells Aemond that he will accept Cregan's courtship and see how things go.
Aemond hasn't said anything yet. Lucerys gets nervous and goes to open the door but Aemond stops him. Lucerys is about to go on another rant when Aemond leans down and kisses him. Luke freezes.
Aemond leans back and smiles. Aemond is smiling. Aemond is smiling at HIM. Lucerys hasn't stopped crying. Aemond wipes his tears. He tells Lucerys that he loves him too. He tells lucerys that he kept every letter he sent him, that he didn't know how to respond to any of them . Aemond tells him that when he saw him at the training yard, he was far too shy to greet him, so he left.
When Luke started talking to him that first night, he didn't know how ro respond. Lucerys realises that Aemond wanst being cold to him. He was Being shy. Lucerys can't help but laugh as he pulls Aemond in for another kiss. But then he pulls back.
Aemond asks him what's wrong. Lucerys asks about the lady from the stands. Aemond smiles and tells him that the lady from the tournament was a cousin on his mother's side. A married lady from Old Town that knew Aemond well. Lucerys flushed with embarrassment. He'd been jealous of someone from Aemond's family.
That very night , Aemond takes Lucerys, in his night clothes and Aemond coat, to Dragonstone on Vhagar. They are married by the time the sun comes up. When they return to Kingslanding, Rhaenyra is shocked to see the cuts on their lips. Daemon nearly chops Aemond's head off.
In the end no one could do anything. Aemond and Lucerys had married in the ways of old valirya. When Cregan went to congratulate Lucerys, Aemond had a smug look on his face. Luke told him to behave.
Lucerys brought Cregan into a hug, and whispered in his ear, perhaps he should introduce him to his elder brother Jacearys. Cregan smiled and agreed. Before leaving, he kisses the back of his hand with a smile on his face. Aemond immediately tells him to leave . Both Lucerys and Cregan laugh.
After a few weeks, another official wedding is held (Alicent and Rhaenyra don't take no for an answer). Everyone is invited. Festivities last for another 5 days. Cregan seems to be getting along really well with Jace. Lucerys can't believe he's marrying Aemond again.
Aemond is happy that Lucerys is happy. Luke finally got what he always wanted. His Aemond's love.
