Tumblr media
You weren't exactly the perfect pair to exist, nor would any like minded person think it best to put you two together in a roo, let alone become intimate. And yet, so effortlessly you both meshed rather well...Michael, your "Norman No Mates" boyfriend [as he enjoyed putting it], was quite a mathematical genius. His family were somewhat stable and well off, however, he rejoiced in the idea that he worked his way into the academy, where as your situation was quite the opposite. Your father had attended Oxford and graduated, as did your grandfather, who also sponsored and funded many of its restorations and renovations. The ancient establishment owed many of its complexes to your family name, and hence, granted you a position in their literature field, warranted you did try to maintain your grades above a credit average, trimming it with a pass even...
You had tipsily stumbled upon Michael at some college party: he stood by some dark corner, a drink in hand and the other in his pocket, before you had ignorantly walked into him, mindless to your surroundings from intoxication. You had either gone to refill your drink or was seeking the bathroom [you struggle to remember the fine details of the night you had met], laughing obnoxiously at some joke your friend had uttered, before walking into the man that would ultimately make you weak in your knees.
"S-Sorry-" You softly slurred, spilling your drink on the floor, a droplet landing on your heel.
At first it sounded as though an apparent swear seemingly seethed between his curved lips, halting himself before cursing you further, as he adjusted his thin framed spectacles, marvelling at you.
"Y-You alright, love?"
The next thing you knew, you found yourself hot and heavy, heated bodies, grinding against one another, as Michael teased and etched his impressively long cock, at your silky folds. His mouth latched to your unmissable cleavage, as he suckled on your breasts like a new born babe to its mother's teat.
No man had ever made you feel more desired, and yet a fool at his beck and call. He uttered despicable taunts and jabs at you, whilst simultaneously, worshipping the ground you strut on.
"The sluttiest girl on campus just couldn't resist the cock of a geek, huh? Making her even more stupid than she is, look at you... Pathetic baby."
His words stung a compelling sensation, and yet you craved for more of his undivided attention. And seemingly, Michael granted you every fathomable bit he could muster. You were the girl beyond his dreams, needless to say, he never thought he even stood a chance with any girl, of that matter. And he as a man, beyond your tastes. However, the tension was palpable between you two, the chemistry undeniable.
You often found yourself unwittingly seeking his company, even risking your privilege in the confines of his dorm...
Tumblr media
"How long left, Mikey. I'm s'bored!" You whinge, as you fidget and reposition yourself sprawled on your boyfriend's single-sized bed. Flinging your flip phone to the side, without a care for consequences [your parents would simply purchase a new one for you]. Despite being in somewhat sheerly covered attire, your ass cheeks just peaking through beneath your skirt, Michael barely felt the temptation to see [if he was even aware of your current outfit].
"Wait. Need to finish this equation."
His stern, unwavering voice and unfazed focus ontp the paper and textbooks before him, made your eyes roll with such annoyance, defeatedly sighing. The repetitive sound of his pencil thudding at his head, and your rhythmical humming, filled the silent void.
"Ugh- Michael, you should have just told me to not come- There was a party, I could have been at—"
"Do you not have an essay due by the end of the week?"
You contemplate for a few, solid seconds, before realising there was truth to his words. You did have an assignment due in the imminent days to come, and you had yet to begin.
"W-Well, yes... But I was hoping you would help me, handsome."
"Is that so?"
His attention still remained down, fixated on the text before him, yet his tone elevated, intrigue plaguing his words.
"I-I mean I'll still write it out, y-you just need to guide me—”
Swiftly he swivelled his entire body in the desk-top chair to turn unto you, a cheeky grin plastered across his chiselled face.
"Baby, you can barely do your times-tables, you think you can write an whole essay? Adorable..."
"But I sure know how to fuck you good. What man of your calibre can have a girl like me, say that to a man like you, huh?"
A darkness tinged in his piercing blue orbs, intently watching your every move and gesture, as he notices your hand hovering between your thighs, before disappearing beneath the short, skimpy skirt.
"Mhmm—"
Your thoughtless moans began to echo between the confined blank walls of the dorm, squirming against the neatly folded fabrics of the bed.
"And what do you think you're doing, exactly?"
Two digits continued to delve deeper between your folds, drawing slow, circular motions as your thumb remained rubbing at your clit. You had been biting your lips, only to release a moan, as you intended to respond obediently.
"M-My boyfriend's a bore, s-so I'm t-taking matters into m-my own h-hands—"
"Is that so?"
Without so much as a warning, a force pried your hands out from beneath your walls, your wetness coating your fingers and knuckles, glistening in the dim light. Within a few seconds, the emptiness between your legs vanished, as a rougher, more sizeable host embedded itself between your velvet folds.
With roughness, and vastly more pace, Michael's lengthy, slim digits began to etch deeper and deeper inside of you, pumping his fist in and out of you, as his other hand laid to rest against the mattress, propping him upright. Your hands immediately laid at your sides, firmly clenching the quilt between for some steadiness.
"Does my little slut have no patience? Brain to numb to think, she just wants to be fucked all the time, huh?"
"Y-Yes—"
Just as your ecstatic cries and moans grew more frequent, Michael's breathing sounded heavier, feeling your warm wetness making a mess all along his hands and the crevices of your entrance.
"This slut could've bent over to anyone. No-No, but she did for me, yeah? So needy for cock, she didn't even learn her times tables, huh?"
"I-I need you, M-Mikey—"
A third long digit shoved itself deeper into your tight hole, panting beneath your grip as you felt yourself fervently clench around him.
"That's right, princess. You need me. No man is worthy of this pretty cunt of yours, I earned it."
As you felt yourself progressively lose all your senses. gaining traction to the heat stirring below, Michael's sudden release felt cathartic. Watching him lick and lap every inch of your wetness lingering over his hand, made you feel delectable. Your lustful eyes searched below, for a fleeting second, you caught the growing commotion in his pants, as the bulge was evident, its shadow against the restricted fabric. As he tasted the last drop, a snarky smirk expanded across his handsome face, before beginning to unbelt and unbutton his beige trousers.
"C'mon princess, spread those legs like you always do, like you were born to do. Such a fucking whore, that's all you were meant for. Meant for me."
Aligning himself so effortlessly perfect against your, his reddened tip blushed against your sight, teasing your silky folds. His veins throbbed with excitement, almost palpable between your sensitive entrance, its length girth suddenly plunging itself ever so slowly inside of you.
With a first, rough shove, delving himself completely inside of you, his balls hitting at your rear, an escape of a low grunt vibrated against his lips, that remained hovering over your soft skin. Michael kept himself steadily propped atop of you: with each thrust, equally time and paced, his weight began to drop over you, applying the pressure down from above with his cock inside of you.
"The most perfect cunt, for the most perfect girl. And it's mine."
"M-Michael—"
"S-Stastically we a-are an anomaly, b-but my princess f-found me, like a good girl—”
“A-Anomaly?"
A deep, growling chuckle escaped his lips, his pace growing sloppier as he attempted to articulate: despite Michael having you weak in the knees in bed, he was still somewhat new at the act of sex. Struggling to juggle with the need to fuck and the need to explain, his lean, tall figure cowering over you, his eyes shut with ecstasy momentarily, before opening to glare and marvel at you breathlessly. Your lips latched onto his neck and collarbones in between your moans, intently sucking at his tender flesh, desperate to taste him, to leave remnants of your physical love, strewed across his body. Desperate to savour every inch of him.
"An odd couple, baby. B-But you take me so fucking well—"
"Mhmm—"
"There's no going back now, Princess..."

Request: lee know and 10? please? :)
Prompt:
10) "Just say you want me and I'm yours."
Pairing: Stray Kids Lee Know x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
"I'm telling you, they're into you, man," Han gasped, smacking his knee for emphasis.
"Why would I care if they were?" Lee Know sighed, not even bothering to look up from his phone. It wasn't like your affections mattered to him.
Or at least that's what he told himself.
"Why would you-" Han breathed, his brows furrowed with exhaustion. "Don't you want to know if someone likes you or not?"
"It's not going to affect me either way," Lee Know said finitely.
It didn't matter if his stomach did an obnoxious little flip every time you entered the room. It didn't matter that you were literally better than any perfume (how could a human be his favorite smell?!) And it definitely didn't matter what Han said. He'd believe it when he heard it with his own ears. He wasn't opening himself up to hurt just for the hell of it.
"Just give up, Hannie," Hyunjin grumbled, plopping onto the couch beside his distressed member. "His heart is not going to grow two sizes this day."
"Watch your mouth," Lee Know said, his tone remaining bored. "I know where you sleep."
"If you haven't killed me yet, you're not going-"
Lee Know looked up with an icy glare.
"To give up trying," Hyunjin quickly finished after clearing his throat.
Nodding to himself, Lee Know looked back his phone. These two wouldn't catch him slipping today.
..
"He's crazy about you," Felix nodded, pushing another brownie in your direction.
Shaking your head as you pushed it back, you let out a small burp. "I can't do another one, Lix. I'm going to burst."
"Brownies aside," he hummed. "Are you going to acknowledge what I said?"
After a moment of silence, you sighed. "He can like me all he wants, but that doesn't mean anything unless he actually tells me."
Felix sucked on his bottom lip, lost in thought. He was probably thinking through what was on your mind as well. Was Lee Know capable of being vulnerable enough to even show that side to you?
"You've gotta make him feel safe," Felix nodded slowly. "He'll admit it if he knows he's not going to get his heart broken."
You pressed your face into your hands and groaned. "Have you stopped to consider one thing?"
"Hm?"
"Do I even like him like that?"
Felix stepped back, aghast. "What do you mean? Of course you do!"
"That sounds an awful lot like gaslighting," you grumbled.
He smacked a hand over his mouth before lifting his brows. "I just always assumed!" came out muffled from behind his fingers.
"Why would you assume that?" you laughed nervously, trying to deep dive in your recent memory of interactions with Lee Know. Sure, he was good looking. And yeah, he was a good listener.
And maybe you'd be the first to admit that when he did that crooked smile with the little nose crinkle you died a little inside, but otherwise, you were totally normal. He was totally normal. A possible love connection had never crossed your mind...not that often at least.
"You're just so..." Felix started before waving his hands in the air. "Around each other."
"Please explain what..." you laughed, mimicking his hand gesture. "Means."
"Squishy, cute, perfect together," he sighed. "He gets so giggly and soft when you're paying attention to him. He's only ever like that with us."
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms. "I know you want us to be this cute little rom com, but-"
"No, Y/N," Felix hummed. "I want you two to be happy. And I think that could really be with each other."
..
"You got this! " Han whisper shouted. He rubbed Lee Know's shoulders as he hopped up and down. "It's going to be great."
Lee Know bit his lip, grappling with the feeling of nausea washing across his lower torso. He hated giving anyone the power to make him feel like this, even if it was you.
For what felt like weeks, Han had chipped away at his armor. The protection he had so carefully carved out over the years was picked away by his overbearing (in a good way he guessed?) best friend. It was true that if Han didn't push him in other situations, he wouldn't be nearly as happy and successful as he was. What if this was the same?
On good days, he trusted Han with everything he had. On bad days, he could only trust him as far as he could throw him.
And that big head of his was heavy today.
"This is the worst idea you've ever had," he hissed, spinning around to face Han. "Are you sure they like me?"
"Positive-" Han started. "-ly definitely a maybe."
Lee Know's eyebrows lowered, his hands latching onto Han's biceps. "What," he whispered.
Han cringe-smiled, wary of how quiet Lee Know's voice had gotten. He would almost prefer him to be loud about his confusion. He knew how to handle that Lee Know reaction. This one only inspired nervousness.
"I talked to Felix," Han said meekly. "He talked to Y/N-"
"This sounds a lot like a game of telephone," Lee Know said through barred teeth. "If I make a fool of myself..."
"You're not," Han cooed, looking his friend in the eyes. As Lee Know's hands drooped back to his sides, Han grabbed his shoulders again. "You know we wouldn't ever set you up to be knocked down, right? This is going to go great."
Or at least he hoped it would.
..
You tucked your legs under you as you settled onto the practice room couch. Quickly glancing around, you tried not to let yourself think too deeply about what was going to happen.
"He said he wanted to meet me here?" you croaked, looking anxiously toward Felix.
Your friend's expression was soft as he set a hand lightly on your knee and gave a gentle squeeze. "He did."
"To talk," you said, repeating what Felix had said on the way over.
"Mmhmm," he hummed, lazily scrolling through his phone.
"Is he on the way? Is-"
"Y/N," Felix grinned, looking up again. "It's okay to be nervous. You know that, right?"
"Nervous?" you scoffed. "What reason do I have to be nervous?"
Felix lifted his brows, letting you answer the question yourself.
Whether it was unsaid or not, you had every reason. Just a few nights ago, you had been convincing yourself and Felix (well, maybe not Felix) that you had never really considered Lee Know in the way he was insinuating you should. When you had pointed the gaslighting finger at him, you supposed your other three fingers were pointing right back at you. No matter how many times you told yourself things just weren't like that with Lee Know, a little patter in your heart suggested otherwise.
He made you feel things.
Good, amazing, but completely terrifying things. Things you hadn't wanted to observe too closely until your friends held them out for you to examine.
Taking a deep inhale through your nose, you slowly blew it out of your mouth. "I'm nervous."
"That is a really healthy admission, Y/N," Felix chuckled sarcastically. "I'm proud of you."
"Shut uuuup," you groaned, slumping down against the back of your seat. "Is he on the way or not?"
As if waiting for your signal, the door slammed open. Jumping a bit at the sound, you watched as someone's hand pushed Lee Know aggressively into the room. Stumbling forward, he quickly regained his footing before looking up with a nervous smile. "Hey."
"Hey," you said weakly, feeling your mouth already curving up with amusement.
"Time to go," Felix hummed, springing up from beside you and making his way toward the door. "You two have fun."
"Wait," you gasped, furrowing your brows. "You're leaving?"
"Got things to do," Felix smirked, nodding at Lee Know as he walked past. "You two might want to lock the door for some privacy. You know what? I'll just do it myself on the way out..."
"No," Lee Know muttered, shaking his head. "We're fine."
"Suit yourself," Felix shrugged. Opening the door only wide enough for him to slide through, he closed it behind him again.
Directing your attention back to Lee Know, you gave a small wave.
He let out a huff of a chuckle before walking slowly toward you and plopping on the couch as well. "So..."
"So," you nodded. The air was heavy with tension, an awkward silence going longer and longer between the two of you.
It was never like this when you met. Things always seemed to be so easy before, albeit occasionally shy. You refused to have whatever was going on ruin that.
Pushing forth every ounce of courage you had, you finally chanced looking up from your lap and into Lee Know's eyes. He had been quietly watching you, the direct contact causing his breathing to stutter.
"Why are we making this so painful on ourselves?" you said quietly. "Just say what you'd like to say."
"M-me?" Lee Know exhaled. "Han said that you..."
He trailed off, a small line appearing between his eyebrows when he began to think too deeply.
"But Felix-" you started, shaking your head in confusion. It felt like a bucket of ice water had been poured down your back. Had Lee Know not wanted to talk to you at all?
"I'm going to kill them," Lee Know hissed, springing to his feet. You came to the realization at the same time he did. Your friends had set you up. "I'm going to shove them both into the air fryer, I'm going to crank it to-"
A strangled laugh escaped from your throat as you grabbed his hand. Stopping mid-sentence, Lee Know immediately sank back down beside you. "They...they framed this up to be..."
"A confession?" you said weakly. You were crestfallen. A sour feeling twisted around your chest and plummeted to your gut. No matter how much you had tried to prepare yourself, it was all a wash.
"Well, yeah," Lee Know huffed. "They...they think we have feelings for each other...and we just haven't realized."
"Pfft," you scoffed, the hurt emotions already surging to the forefront. "Don't you think we'd know if we had feelings for each other?"
"Definitely," he nodded irritably. After only a few seconds, the nodding grew softer. "Maybe."
"Maybe?" you croaked.
"I..." he trailed off, his eyes trailing everywhere but towards you. "I mean, I had kind of hoped..."
You remained cautiously silent. The preemptive hurt was being pushed out of your chest as optimism surged in.
"It was a nice idea," he said finally. "That's all."
You opened your mouth to speak but were unsure of where to go next. Was this him admitting that he liked the thought of you two together? In his funny, little, Lee Know way, was he being open with you?
You thought back to your conversation with Felix and recalled the words you had cast off so easily. You've gotta make him feel safe. He'll admit it if he knows he's not going to get his heart broken.
Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath before opening them again. Reaching forward, you set your fingers lightly atop of where Lee Know's hand sat on his knee.
Looking down in alarm, he looked back up again, and searched your face. "Y/N?"
"Just say you want me...and I'm yours," you said, ripping off the words like a Band-Aid.
Lee Know blinked, trying to understand. When your words finally dawned on him, it was as if he was blossoming before your eyes. His smile grew wide and his breaths heavy as he continued to look at you.
You sucked in your bottom lip, waiting. The action immediately drew his attention. Just when you thought his smile couldn't have gotten any bigger, the corners tugged even higher. Launching forward, he gripped your face between his hands and pressed his mouth against yours. What had been so quiet and fragile only minutes before, now pulsed with an electricity and fervor you weren't expecting. Gripping his wrists, you kissed him back, the surge of emotions making you feel as if you could cry.
At the edge of your senses, you could hear what sounded like faint shouting. Pulling only a centimeter or so away from Lee Know, you both looked at each other in confusion. The practice room door flung open as Felix and Han fell through, toppling over each other to land on the floor.
Felix looked up with a sheepish grin. "Told you both that you should probably have locked it."

INCOMPATIBLE HARMONY

Your mother always said, “Either kill or be killed,” and you regrettably learned the hard way. Life is not easy, and it never will be. You must work for your goals and eliminate any potential distractions, even if they are those you care about. Everything that matters is success. Yet with more independence and freedom of choice u start to crack a little straying further and further away from the motto showing weakness and vulnerability. Success no longer being your priority as you found your focus on a particular someone.
you certainly would not mind eliminating a specific individual , a pest.. a loud, foul mouthed, vile, obnoxious, beastly, filthy inconvenience such as park.
It's not surprising to hear Jay harbours the same feelings as you; it's almost romantic when you think about it. Two people with a passionate desire hatred for one another.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
Unfortunately, your Monday became more dreary when you met him waiting outside your professor's door, whom you had intended to meet.
“What are you doing here” Jay ignored you and continued typing stuff on his phone. The sound of his fingers aggressively tapping on his screen bothered you. “Hello? You know it's rude to ignore somebody while they're addressing you.”
Finally, he raises his deep, dismal eyes to meet yours. “I'm so sorry your majesty I didn't like your tone” he said with a grin “what's wrong with my tone? this is how I always talk why are your..so dramatic” You crossed your arms, your tolerance dwindling as you endured this discourse.
“No... today your tone seems more boooorish” you raised an eyebrow at his strange choice of words; you had no understanding what he had just said, which irritated you even more. You despised the way he used sophisticated vocabulary as if he were from 1985. “Do you want to purposefully mislead me? What do you think because you use fancy phrases, you're better than me, you antiquated freak”
Jay grinned. You despised it when he smiled because it felt like he was mocking you, it made you feel little, and you despised every moment of it. “Intentionally yes I'm glad to see it's working it brings me joy to see u distressed-and confused when I mess with ur little narrow minded brain maybe if u spent ur time reading rather than selling ur self out at party's every weekend you would actually know what im saying half the time”
You close your eyes sighing loudly as you try to compose your anger. He was wrong so wrong
Jay smirked as he recognised he had won. Picking up his bag, he approaches you and gently pats over your shoulder, “What's wrong? Can't bite back? Better luck next time, love.” Before you could respond, he walks away, descending down the corridor, leaving you to throw an internal fit as you accept your defeat.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
“Are you coming to Jake's party tonight? It's at his beach mansion” you shrug as you begin to gather your belongings from your desk. “I'm not sure... with this approaching test, I need time to study.” Yujin rolls her eyes, grasping your arm in a plea “Pleaaaaaaaaaaseeee I don't wanna go by myself it's just one party it's not going to ruin your perfect 4.0 GDA!” you lightly break free from her grasp, “correction it's GPA.. and stop clinging onto me like a leech I know damm well u have plenty of other friends if I don't come it's not the end of the world” She groans.
“What if it is the end of the world! your my best freind I want to go with you w..what if I pass out ?? What if I.. uh.. get lost” she blurs out nonsense and you watch in disbelief shaking your head, preparing to turn and leave.
“Park Sunghoon is comming by the way”
You come to a halt in your tracks, slowly turning around. “Really?..Are you saying that only to get me to co- “yes! Really, he's back from France now; there's no way he'll miss Jake's party.” You sigh deeply, pondering whether a single male who is cute is more essential than your future. “I'll think about it.” Yujin smiles, grabbing you in an embrace and showering you with thank yous as if you answered yes (deep down you know it was a yes as well), before she swiftly leaves for her next class.
What you felt for Sunghoon was like a disease, slowly devouring you from the inside out. You've been pinning for him since your first year of university, and you thought it was just a crush until it wasn't. Now, a year later, your feelings have grown stronger. You would do anything to be in the same space as him-not to talk just to admire from afar You were a woman of many words, but in this instance, Sunghoon was different. It's as if you lost the basic mechanics of communication when talking to him; it's too embarrassing to go through again, so you avoid it at all costs and prefer to admire his features . Even in group setting with your friends you keep your conversations to a minimum.
And, of course, evil forces decided to flirt with and entice you once more by bringing not just Sunghoon but also his pest of a friend Jay into your presence as you make your way down the hall to your next class.
“Oh hey y/n it's been a while” Sunghoon smiles as he embraces you cheerfully. “Oh..h..hi umm how was France and the skating Ice- um, I mean ice skating,” you mentally leaped in front of a bus and ran yourself over 76 times because of the idiotic mistake you just made in front of him. “The ice skating competition was good I should hear back in about a week if I've qualified for the semi finals how have you been?” He looks at you intently and quietly, waiting for your response, while Jay silently notes every element of your expression. Both of their stares made you feel little uneasy, as if you were a vase on display in a museum, attracting a lot of attention. You felt your palms start to sweat.
“That's great to hear! Um.. I've been alright just p..preparing for exams right now.” You give him a constant smile, attempting to distract him from your inability to pronounce a simple basic ass word. “Yikes, midterms.. Hope you do well-Oh! Are you going to Jake's party? Or are you going to study? Parties weren't always your thing” Just as you open your mouth to speak, a rat joins in on the conversation despite the fact that he was not invited.
“Sunghoon it seems you've been gone a while she loves parties I see her at them all with that yujin girl I'm sure she won't miss this one will you y/n?” You glare at Jay, directing your focus to him, and imagine all the horrible ways you would torture him for ruining a moment with your crush. “I'm sure she can speak for herself, and trust me, Jay y/n is not a party girl... well, I have a class to go to, so maybe I'll see you at the party,” he smiles one final time before walking away, leaving you and Jay in solitude.
“Do you lack basic manners? Why are you entering into a conversation that has nothing to do with you? He was talking to meeee the last time I checked, and your not y/n.”He shrugged, “My manners are perfect, thank you very much, and I'm open to adding my two cents wherever I want to; all I did was state the facts.” You roll your eyes and reposition your back to hang over your shoulder.
“Facts? Stop acting like you know me Jay, you don't. You're not my friend, you're not my anything. Stay out of my business and my life.” You leave him as quickly as you spoke, bumping your shoulder against his as you storm down the hall.
Something you said right then must have touched a chord, since Jay's mood plummeted for the rest of the day.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
Parties are just mobs of people, the perfect place for germs to hibernate and circulate like wildfire, with loud music that bursts your eardrums, piles of sweaty bodies, and excessive amounts of alcohol. You don't see what Yujin sees in this type of activity, but the show must go on, and it's too late to back out now.
Deeper within the mashion are Jay, Jake Sunghoon, and Jungwon, who are playing pool round after round. “Sunghoon, did you find any hot French girls or what?”Jake asks, peeking over to see Sunghoon as he effortlessly knocks down two of his targets into the hole. “Ice skating pre occupied me.. plus I still like her”
Now that Jay has disconnected from his talk with Jungwon, his ears immediately peek up at the sound of Sunghoon's crush, and he listens in curiously. He rarely discusses such topics, especially after his heartache with his ex Chaewon.
“Her? Omg bro it’s been monthhhhs” sunghoon sighs “I know.. but she’s just really pretty and kind I really want to get to know her more this year” Jake laughs placing a hand on his chest “ get to know her? Last year you barely held a conversation with the girl u need to work on your game if u wanna bag a girl like y/n”
Jay lifts his brow in disbelief and confusion. Sunghoon liked you. Considering the millions of girls he could have picked. Jay was completely baffled. Great distress surged over him. He became so outraged that he could no longer bear to listen to the discourse. Jay turns to the pool table, leaving a perplexed Jungwon in the middle of his sentence.
“Do you like y/n? Really, dude? Raise your standards.” Jake's mouth drops agape at his comment, and Sunghoon crosses his arms. “Yeah, I like her, and what about it? I think She's a great girl, what's it to you?” Sunghoon now turns to Jay, looking him down. The mood in the room shifts, and Jungwon, who is watching from a distance, becomes anxious about what is going on.
“It's nothing to do with me I'm just looking out for you as a freind she's not a good person” Sunghoon doesn't say anything for a time and simply stares at Jay. “Maybe u haven't had a good experience with her.. that's your opinion but I've had good with her and I'll stick to my opinion thanks for the concern bro” Sunghoon turns, grabs his drink, and leaves the room.
Jay gulped, grabbing the edge of the pool table firmly in rage. How could Sunghoon not realise what an awful person you were? All he wanted was to look out for him. Again, everything is always your fault. Jay groans as he steps outdoors, leaving the manshion.
He walks outdoors on the sidewalk, trailing his feet. He stares ahead to the shore, watching the clam ripples of water. He groans and walks on, but he comes to a halt when he notices you coaching against the wall with your head down.
He immediately becomes enraged again; it was your fault he was out here, and it was your reason he got into a fight with Sunghoon. He comes up to you talking this opportunity to throw a dig “so much for not being a party girl look at you here all drunk and wasted outside on the floor no self composure what so ever”
He waits, but your witty retort never arrives. He lifts his brow lightly, bending down to shove you, but is met once more with the presence of stillness. Jay feels an awful discomfort in his gut. He bends down to get a closer look, only to find your eyes closed and your hand grasping your chest while you breathe extensively.
“Y/n?… Hey y/n” he holds your shoulder trying to urge a response. “t..to many..” he moves his head closer angling his ear towards you “repeat that for me” you muster all the strength in your body to speak “c..claustrophobic..I’m..clau..” Jay hums in realisation.
He thinks quickly on his feet sitting down on the concrete, reaching for your hand and replacing the one on your chest with his own. “Listen to me right now. I need you to breathe in and out slowly, with 3 seconds in between, okay? Can u do that for me” you weakly nod, obeying his directions.
Each time you did, he would lightly sweeze your hand in encouragement, giving you reassuring “well done’s”and “your getting there's” the whole affair felt strange to you. He was really pleasant, calm, patient, and caring towards you. It was rare for Jay this came out of nowhere, but you didn't question it and accepted it with open arms because you needed it.
Shortly after you find your self calm. But the lingering feeling of jays eyes on you as the two of you sit in silence was uncomfortable. You find your self subconsciously looking down to your feet playing with your fingers. “So.. your claustrophobic I never knew that” you shrug still looking down “well yeah.. it’s not a big deal anyways” he hummus “seems like a pretty big deal if it weren’t for me you would have passed out”
You roll your eyes “no I would have been fine this isn’t the first time I topically do this alone no assistance needed park” Jay humms again his hand reaching to cup your chin forcing you to raise your head and look at him. You were shocked at the sudden contact and the way his hand felt so warm againt your cold skin. “Well..um are you okay now looking at your face you seem it” he then used his hand to turn your head slightly as he analyses your face. “I’m..I’m fine thank you”
A tingly feeling perks within him but he shuts it down nodding removing his hand from your skin. The absence of warmth had you feeling cold again but you brushed it off. Jay suddenly stands up dusting dirt off his back and reaches out his hand to you “come I’ll drive you home I’m assuming you woukd rather not go back in there” he raises a brow you nod hesitantly accepting his hand as he wraps it around your firmly.
“My car is about a 10 min walk are u fine with that? Well doesn’t matter if ur not we still have to walk regardless just letting you know anyway” you laugh a little feeling the sense of familiarity again this was more like jay. More like the jay you knew more like the jay you were used too. Yet that feeling in your stomach didn’t leave.
“Don’t do this again” you raise a brow “pardon?” Jay turns to you “going out in the dark at night in some alley by yourself something easily could have happened to you and no one would be there to save you” you roll your eyes “I know u don’t actually care about what happens to me stop acting like you do plus.. I was close to the beach house I would have been fine” jay sighs shaking his head “belive it all not im not a horrible human being your a girl and that make sure automatically vulnerable alone at night im just warning you love”
You humm “just save me next time then” you finnaly turn to look at him awaiting his reaction as he silently looks at you not saying a word. You quickly look away now feeling awkward regretting your exsistnce.
“Pay me I’m not playing superman for free”
Now at the car it’s mostly silent but a comfortable silence never in your life would you think you would be in jays car having him drive you to your dorm but life is full of surprises isn’t it. Soon you arrive home giving him a Short and firm bye before heading to your door.
Little to your knowledge even once you have entered your dorm Jay remains in his car watching you until he sees the lights shine in ur room confirming you have settled.

Studying was supposed to be peaceful and quiet, but all of that was disrupted the moment you invited Jake to join you.
You wouldn't call him a nuisance, but he was more distracting than anything else. Every 4 minutes, he'd start chatting about strange stuff, and when he wasn't talking, he'd be toying with your hair or poking your check unless he was performing some random asmr with his pen. Sometimes you wish you could just duct wrap his mouth so he would stop talking.
“Jake... please I'm really trying to focus here you know I have an exam soon” he looks down as if you had just rejected or something it made you feel a little bad “Fine.. if you want me gone just say that!” He crosses his arms and looks away, and you sigh, rubbing his shoulder, “It's not that it’s just you talk too much, I need quiet... on second thought yeah, leave, we can hang out later.” You sigh and Jake's mouth opens wide at your unexpected change of direction, huffing silently as he turns to go.
Peace and quiet has made a comeback
You smile to yourself as you study, but as usual, your tranquilly is short-lived when you hear the loud smack of a book beside you. Looking up, there's no one but jay. You raise a curious eyebrow; hardly one visits this section of the library unless a friend tags along, and you've never seen Jay here.
“What brings you here you don't come here this is my space” Jay ignores you, bringing out his laptop, iPad, and any extra papers. “I've come here to study obviously your not the only one who has exams here and last time I checked your name isn't plastered anywhere here so this is everyone's space,” he smiles and returns to getting his stuff.
You groan, your gaze returning to your laptop to drown him out and remain focused. However, that was difficult to do given how fiercely he was looking at you.
“Um, is there a reason why you keep looking at me like that? It makes me uncomfortable.” Jay's eyes stay hanging on yours. “Looking at you? what is it a crime to look at another human being? Arrest me.” He rolls his eyes. You shake your head, closing your laptop and giving him your entire attention.
“Your looking at me like ur going to eat me alive I don't like it please direct your eyes Literally anywhere else” Jay chuckles, moving his head closer to the point your noses would almost just almost connect . “Maybe I should eat you so I don't have to hear your nagging every day. I'll devour you whole nice and slow..how does that sound?”
Unbeknownst to you, a flush rushed across your ears, to which Jay saw with a wide grin. “That's!..that's really inappropriate, Jay. You can't just say things like that to a woman.” He tilts his head, leaning closer. His hot breath stimulating your exposed skin.
“I didn't mean it in that way get your head out of the gutter you.. naughty girl tsk” he paused for a second before starting again “plus I don't really see you as a woman” you raise a brow in disbelief and offence.
“So you’re gay?”
He then abruptly moved back. “Gay? Don't make such a misleading statement; I'm really attracted to women.” You smile slightly, seeing this as an opportunity to twist him even further. “But if you do not view me as a woman, you must see me as a man? And you want to devour this man whole, don't you? Nice and slow Don't worry, your secret is safe with me,” you giggle, covering your mouth from laughing so hard as you watched the dread drown out his face, which turned pale.
“Shut up you’re always so loud and wrong you really think I like men?” You nod “this conversation is proof right here of the Jay is gay statement” Jay places his fingers gently squeezing his temple in vexation. He didn’t appreciate being accused of liking men when he clearly is straight and didn’t like that it was you out of all people.
But
Suddenly he felt the need-the urge to prove it to you he wanted to show you just how wrong you were he wanted to put you in your place and shut you up. So he did just that
Jay leans over in a matter of seconds, one hand behind your neck, the other yanking on your lanyard, forcing tight proximity as he slams his lips against yours. If someone walked in right now, they wouldn't believe their eyes. You didn’t belive it yourself.
His lips brushed against yours, softly and carefully, like you were fragile and he was scared to shatter or harm you. His lips graced yours like butterfly wings, just long enough for him to inhale your breath, feeling the warmth of your skin in his palm as he pulled you in deeper, and the flavour of your strawberry lipgloss lingered in his head, driving him insane.
As soon as it started it quickly ended as you somehow snapped back into reality and roughly pushed him for you. Not wanting to meet his gaze you turn hastily packing your things and leaving as quickly as possible. Leaving a stunned and confused Jay alone in the library.
You slide your back down the wall of an empty corridor, like a dramatic main lead In a teenage drama attempting to regain your calm and gain a grasp of what happened just a few seconds earlier. Were you crazy--or was he crazy? Why did he kiss you, and why was it so long? Most importantly, why did you like it? You loved it You smacked yourself to recover your focus. Choosing to disregard this portion of the day as if it never occurred so that you can sleep soundly tonight.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
After ten minutes of overthinking your life choices in the lounge area, the bell rings for lunch. You grab your phone and text Yunjin to come meet you as soon as possible. She soon appears and sits next to you. You had intentions of telling her but you couldn’t bring yourself too
“What's so urgent that you nee- you having a bad makeup day?” You lift your eyebrow “What?” “My makeup is fine, what do you mean?" she shakes her head, pointing to your lips. “Not your entire makeup, just your lip makeup, it's all smudged.” Flickers of the kiss swarm in your thoughts, making you nauseous.
You quickly get out your mirror attempting to fix it.
“Jay can I ask you something?” Jay nods as he takes a bite out of his sandwich “you smell unusual today” Jay raises an eyebrow, causing Jungwon and Sunghoon to focus on Jake's words: “Yeah, I noticed you smelled kinda fruity today, like... starberries” Jungwon continues, causing Jake to nod in agreement, “I don't smell like that; you're probably smelling something else.”
Unknowingly, while Jay continued to eat, seemingly a little concerned by the claims, Sunghoon discreetly watched Jay, his gaze fixed on the faint hint of lipgloss on his lips.
“Oh my gosh... look at his lips, there's lipgloss. You must have had some action before lunchtime,” Jake wriggles his brows, elbowing Jay. He gulps uneasily, caressing his lip and instantly recalling what he had done; he closes his eyes in regret. “Unless…ur gay? Or something I don’t discriminate ” Jake patted his shoulder
“I knew it I knew u were gay” jay now shoots his head up at that voice your voice as you and yunjin approach his table. You and yunjin were freinds with the rest of jays freinds and sometimes would eat with them though yunjin would limit interactions with jay as by her words “any enemy of my friends is an enemy of mine”
“Jay is gay?” Sunghoon laughs and finally joins the conversation, “Jay and gay, that rhymes!” Jake yelled earning some looks directed at your table Jay simply scowls, “Shut up, both of you.” Jay stands up and grabs his bag and sandwich before leaving. You sighed with relief as he went; sitting directly opposite him seemed wired after what had happened.
It appears that both of you failed to sleep well that night, so you spent it studying to pass the time, while Jay spent it twisting and turning in his bed, extremely upset and ashamed by his irresponsible behaviour. He wishes he could go back in time and prevent it from ever happening.
However, the burning sensation in his chest could not be ignored, and the taste of your strawberry lipgloss lingered on his tongue. He closed his eyes, remembering the taste and feel of your soft lips on his.
The next day was difficult, primarily because you had a council meeting, and of course the vice president had to be Jay, and you the head sadly had a private meeting every 15th, which left you two sitting in an office in silence
“Sooooo..” You spoke but no other words left your lips “should we reschedule this meeting at this rate we will make no progress if you can't even look me in the eye” you grimace a little
“Maybe if a certain somone didn’t just pull up and force themselves onto me I could look them in the eye” you whisper slightly folding your arms turning away. “Force? I didn’t force myself onto you it was mutual” you raise a brow “was it how?”
“You kissed me back and even added your tongue a little; you were clearly into it and wanted it- “shut up please” you placed your fingers on his lips, shushing him before he could humiliate you any further. “Can we change the subject I’m begging” Jay wanted to say more, but judging by your tone and look, he held back.
“Sorry” now, for the first time since this meeting began, you choose to look him in the eye “it was wrong of my to just kiss you out of nowhere I didn't respect your boundaries and I apologise” stunned, you remained silent for a moment before answering “thank you Jay” you smile a little for a split second before it fades away, not wanting to smile for too long because it's Jay after all.
He nods “can we like.. forget this ever happened” you don’t know what it is that you felt then but it was unsettling. You gulped it down agreeing with jays words. “Then let’s start this meeting then”
After a long 30-minute meeting, you and Jay split ways. You go to the library again because you have some free time and run into Sunghoon along the way. You consider many options for running. It's too late; he's already noticed you and invited you to come over.
“hi Sunghoon,” he smiles, waving, “hi y/n, so... do you have any free time right now?” You said, with a nod, “wanna come watch me practise at the rink?” You nodded again, but this time with too much enthusiasm, like a dog. You were embarrassed, but it was difficult to contain your excitement.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
It was chilly. Fortunately, Sunghoon, being the gentleman he is, offered you his puffer, and even though you declined it 15 times, he insisted on forcing you to put it on and zipping you up. The attention in this situation felt good.
You stared in admiration as he skated; he was truly in his element, doing what he does best. You were captivated by how beautifully he swirled and twirled. You hoped you could watch him every day if your schedule wasn't so busy. Interrupting your little display, Yujin texted you.
Yapper: me and the guys are comming over the the rink to ice skate do you wanna come with?
Me: I’m already there? I’m watching Sunghoon practice :)))
Yapper : ARE U LOT ON A ICEY SKATEY DATE? ARE WE INTERRUPTING
Me: NO. He just asked since I also had a free you guys can still come it would be fun I’ll let Sunghoon know
Yapper: if you say so 👀 and btw your bestie is comming
Me: shut up you know dam well he’s not my “bestie” call him that again and I’ll block you
Calling out to Sunghoon, you step down and stand at the edge so he can hear you. “The others are coming down to skate by the way." Sunghoon nods. “Is Jay coming?” You're confused as this was such an unusual and precise inquiry to ask; he should just assume he's coming. You wanted to question further.
“Why are you asking? Is there a reason he shouldn't come?" Sunghoon hastily shakes his head, “I was only wondering—“why? Did something happen?” Sunghoon shakes his head again, “no, I just want to know that's all,” you humm, not believing a word he says. It's times like these that your psychology major comes in handy it was obvious he was lying to you. “Jay is coming”
Soon after they arrived, as you had previously briefed Sunghoon, he prepared and distributed everyone's skates. Jake eagerly put on his skates, excited and ready to go and followed Sunghoon towards the rink. Even when Jungwon and Yujin joined, you still struggled to put on your left shoe.
You attempted to fit your foot in again but failed. You were ready to give up and just watch instead.
“Are you gonna cry over an ice skate?” He teased triggering your frown “No!..this is just really hard” you turn back and try to put it back on for the fifth time. Jay rises up and crouches down in front of you, keeping the shoe in place.
“What are you—“helping I'm helping you, dumbass I'm holding the shoe in place so you can put your foot in, go on.” You comply, pushing your foot in with ease. Before you could reach down to tie the lace, Jay beats you to it, tapping your foot lightly once he's finished. “Thanks” Jay hummed as he turned to leave. Realisation came over you immediately, and you grabbed the hem of his jeans. “Wait, I don't think I can walk on my own. Just help me to the entrance” Jay grumbled, carrying your body up with ease.
“I'll just hold your hand the whole way and bring you to Yujin alright” you agreed, and he now held your hand in his, and you felt the warmth again, just like that night. You didn’t want to let go. Though from afar a pair of flaming eyes watched the scene unfold
“Come on Sunghoon I'm showing you my spin!” Jake yelled as he dragged Sunghoon's arm, diverting his attention. Despite this, Sunghoon cast glances at you and Jay as you entered the rink hand in hand, like some corny couple, and clinched his teeth in anger.
“This is so scary!” Jay glances at you, “You haven't done this before?” You shake your head. “No... this is all new to me, which is why I couldn't do my other shoe properly.” Jay now turns to you, putting your other hand in his. “Do you want me to show you something? I won't let go; don't worry, I'm not the evil creature you see me to be” his comment makes you chuckle “you sooo are if there wasn't any witness I'm so confident you would let go and leave me to fall” Jay rolls his eyes and begins to skate backwards slowly. “w..woah there What are you doing!? What if you bumb into someone! And then boom I fall have an accident and crack my head open and blee-“shh..clam down love im a pro.. I know exactly what im doing now watch and learn newbie”
Jay effortlessly glides backwards, occasionally whirling the two of you in a circle, abruptly changing from fast to slow and slow to fast. It made you a little disoriented, but it was entertaining. Soon, your freinds took notice.
“ I never thought I would see jay and y/n that close to eacother with out any violence involved” jungwon said with a smile “same.. when i look at them now it's kinda cute don't you think ?” Yujin seems complexly clueless of Sunghoon's crush on you: “uh.. nahh, I don't see it”Jake rushes in and shuts off that particular issue, mindful of Sunghoon's facial expression. Jake quickly skates towards the two of you and splits you up.
“Hey guysss y/n I wanna show u somthing come” Jake takes your hands, replacing Jay's warm ones with his chilly ones and yanking you away from him. You felt empty again, and you weren't sure why.
After approximately an hour of ceaseless skating, the others left for ice cream, but you, Jay, and Sunghoon decided to go to study. It felt odd walking back to campus; you could sense the tension, as if you knew something had happened and wanted to know more.
Before u had the chance to bring it up Sunghoon departed calming “something came up” leaving you and Jay alone. It was silent but a comfortable silence you kept talking glances at Jay really only because he kept talking glances at you he seemed he wanted to say somthimg so you gave him the green light
“I know u have something to say don’t be a pussy” Jay chocked on air at the sudden directness “well.. if you say so then please just here here me out when I say this but I really need something form you it’s kinda last minute but your the only option I have” You nodd urging him to talk “my mom is hosting one of her business events but during it she wants to set me up with a daughter of one of her brand partners but shes..she’s I can’t stand her really and..I was wondering-hoping actually if you can step in just for tonight as my temporary date so my mom doesn’t set me with her…??” Jay closes his eyes expecting the worst yet you say nothing he opens your eyes to observe you
Your countenance gradually changes, and you burst out laughing, “Jay, I never took you for the funny type, oh my..” Jay doesn't find any of this funny and frowns “I'm being serious y/n” you glance at him and your face slowly lowers as you realise he is genuinely serious “ well first of all, I don't wanna be dragged into y'all's rich people drama before they assassinate me in my sleep or some shit” Jay throws his hands in the air “no!..no this is real life not some tv show bs your overthinking this nothing bad is going to happen its just one night stop being dramatic!”
“I am not finished. Second, you don't really like me, and I don't really like you, so it makes no sense that we act like a couple. Third, I'm sure someone else would be better for this... you're not all that dumb, so no way I'm a contender.” Jay sighs, recognising that convincing you will be more difficult than he expected. He lays his hands on both shoulders and shoots you with an expression of great desperation.
“I can't ask anyone else; it's this night, and I'm running out of time. You're the only person I think can handle or tolerate my mother. I really need this, please. I'll do everything, give you anything, just do me this one favour.” You place your finger on your chin and tap it, trying to prolong this moment enjoying every second of jays expression. You glance into his yearning stare. “Hmm, I don't know..” Jay holds your shoulder more tightly than previously. “Please y/n you owe me I've helped you 2 times now this is the least you can do for me” you let out a sigh giving in “sure give me 50k” Jay opens his mouth in surprise at the outrageous quantity.
“Oh that’s not..” you sigh “you said anything this classifies as anything your rich aren’t you? You’re basically a walking bank! this should be nothinggg” Jay sighs “fine..but only after you have gone I’ll send it to you understood” you nod “if this is what its like to have a sugar daddy..then I’ll gladly come to every event can you imagine? 50k per event I might as well drop out of uni and start travelling the world” Jay chuckles at your imagination he found you amusing.
“I think I'm a bit young to be a sugar daddy plus I would never willingly wanna spoil a brat like you someone like you needs discipline” your smile dimes kissing your teeth you pinch his arm earning a groan
“What makes you think I want you to be my sugar daddy!? I'm not a brat, and I don't deserve to be disciplined at all, especially by someone like you. Take your own advice.” Jay hums, “You want to discipline me? Didn’t know you were into that” He smirked, leading you to glance away. “Why are you saying it that way!..You're so weird Jay, this is why you don't get any girls because you're a fucking creep.” He laughs, wiping an imaginary tear from his eye.
“yet your going to a fancy event with this creep tonight aren’t you?”
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
Another thing you didn't expect was Jay to be in your dorm room, just you and him. Jay had bursted in pushing some bags into your chest.
“What's this?” He rolls his eyes. “Are you blind?” It's obviously shopping bags full of clothes and shoes. Use your common sense...anyway, I chose this outfit out for you, so go and wear it; the party is in an hour.” You grumble in irritation, going to the bathroom to change.
You would have preferred that instead of parting ways after the conversation, he had informed you of the timing so you could have begun working on your hair and makeup instead of turning up to close to the time where you were in your lounge wear
After getting ready, you come out and present yourself to Jay. It was a long wine-colored green dress shoulder less showing your collarbone. The sleeves ended at your wrist, slightly flared. It embraced your curves, trailing down to the floor and encompassing your body--in a wonderful manner. Jay matched it with gold earrings that flowed down, a simple necklace with a diamond in the centre, and low heels. Jay hummed in fulfilment, looking down at you from top to bottom.
“How do I look?” Jay nods, “You look good, so good I'll turn straight for you.” You smile and laugh at his comment. It seemed he did have a sense of humour. You excuse yourself shortly rushing to do your hair and makeup while Jay is getting ready in your room. Shortly after, you emerge, stunned to discover his finished look.
He was dressed in an all-black suit with a black turtleneck, which wonderfully highlighted his features, particularly his jawline. You didn't want to acknowledge it, but he looked great. You subconsciously ogled at him, and Jay smiled proudly. “You like what you see love?” You shake your head, “Meh, it's fine I guess.” Jay grins to himself at how quickly you denied, as if your mouth didn't water at the sight of him. “Well then let's get going wouldn't want to be late now would we”
Soon you arrive. Jay comes out and opens your door, assisting you out of the vehicle and locking it behind him. He rests his hand on your waist, but he soon removes it. You turn to him “Can I put my hands there? Are you okay with that?” You nod gently, reassuring him. He places his hand back there, confirming to you the warmth you didn't realise you were missing. It made you feel at ease.
You both walk in while Jay greets all these people you don't recognise. To say you felt out of place is an understatement; you were dressed appropriately, but you didn't feel the part. Soon, a woman appeared, and from her appearance, you could tell she was Jay's "scary" mother, his words not yours.
“Hello, my lovely boy. Oh! And who could this be? Jay smiles and pulls you closer, “This is my date y/n.. and y/n this is my mother.” You bow and smile at her. “hello it's lovely to meet you Mrs park” His mother looks you over, looking for flaws to criticise you for. She stiffly smiles, but you know it's not genuine. “Hello there dear.. it's a pleasure to meet you. What do your parents do hmm?” You gulp.
Clearly, you and Jay did not think this through; you had not prepared anything, so you simply stated the truth. “My father was a senior clinical psychologist and my mother is a paralegal” she hums as she takes a sip of her drink. “So your parents aren't doing so well,” “ah.. what a same” you wrinkle a brow, “pardon? What do you mean by that, Mrs. Park,” she shrugs.
“A psychologist? Might as well have been a doctor, far more money, and a paralegal, was it not enough to not just be a lawyer, maybe she failed law school? I guess.. everyone has to find a means to get by."
Your rage must have been obvious. Jay gently squeezed your waist, rubbing it slightly. You couldn't tell if it was to calm you down or a warning not to overreact, but you moved on impulse. No one would speak about your parents, especially your father, who had passed away.
“Listen here..Mrs Park. I do not appreciate your comments regarding my parents' employment. As you seem to be unaware about, a psychologist is a very wonderful vocation. My father was the head of his own business and owned it; he worked in private health care. He earned a lot of money, more than enough to fucking survive…” you took a deep breath to gain composure “Oh! and for your information, I'm also studying psychology so that when I'm older, I can be as successful as my father-and just because my mother isn't in the spotlight of a law profession doesn't mean her work is any less important; she does all of the behind-the-scenes paperwork without the help of others like her , lawyers would have nothing to present in court. I’m sure you didn’t know that since your mindset is clearly limited”
Mrs park gasps and opens her mouth to inject but you cut her off “My mother makes a lot of money; she's not a billionaire, but she lives nicely and has raised me and my brothers comfortably, so do your research before you start talking down on jobs.” You handed Jay your drink and turned away to leave.
Jay's mother was taken aback because no one had ever spoken to her like that before. She was silent; you chewed and spat her out. As yunijin would say “you ate that girl” Jay was fairly pleased of how you stood up for yourself in the face of disagreements. One thing he liked about you was that no matter who it were, you held firm for what you believed in and never gave in to anyone else. “That insolent, arrogant brat! How could she!?” Jay turned to his mother. “She may be a brat at times, but she is not arrogant in general please stop from talking about my date in any unfavourable way, mother…” Jay quickly turned to walk after you.
You sigh as you step out onto a random balcony, embracing the chill. You lean on the edge, looking over the neighbourhood and gazing at the stars.
“The sky is beautiful isn't it?” You humm your eyes, not leaving what is in front of you. “Are you trying to flirt with me right now?” He rolls his eyes “maybe.. is it working love?” you smirk “if anything im turned off repulsed even disgusted it- “alright no need to over do it like I'm some creature who lacks in every ability to charm a woman” you look him in the eye “maybe you are? But one things for sure you certainly did not charm ms back there park. Neither your mother but that’s not the focus”
Jay's smile shrivels under the implications of your words, and he moves closer to you. “Listen.. my mother, like I said, she's scary, and it's hard to voice my opinions against her.” You cross your arms. “I get that, but she basically humiliated and billeted my parents. I know we're not close, but even if you said something or tried to stop her, I'd have appreciated feeling like im not on my own back there...you know? But I think I anticipated too much from you.”
Jay sighed. “What do you mean by that, and what are you trying to say? Trust me, I wanted to say something but couldn't bring myself to…” “ I'm sorry, I really wish I said something. I didn't like how she talked to you either, and I want to take accountability for that because she's my mother. I feel partly responsible, especially since I brought you here; it's my fault. I'm so sorry, y/n, and I completely understand if you just want to leave, you can I won't force you to stay.”
You turn and move approach him. You had no idea what possessed you to do such a thing, but before you realised it, you had placed a palm on his cheek, cupping it. “Honestly, everything is fine. I get where you're coming from. I don't know about your relationship with your mother, but if it's as difficult as you claim, I'll go with it. It's fine; I handled everything on my own rather well, didn't I?” You smile to yourself with pride. “I’m an independent woman after all”
Jay returned the same look, and if it hadn't been so dark, you would have noticed how bright his cheeks were at the contact of your cold hands “I like my women independent” he winked at you, causing you to quickly retreat your hand back using it to hit his chest “s..stop it” Jay smiles “would you believe me if I told you I stayed silent because I knew you were going to jump in so there was no need..haha” you flick him in the arm, making him yelp “don't make me change my mind park” jay quickly shook his head “just a jokey joke..” You smile as you move towards the door, “No worries then let's continue what we started”
The rest of the night went nicely; Jay's mother scowled at you the entire time, but never said anything, which you appreciated, and the meal was as good as you expected. “So this is what you affluent people do when you're bored?” he shrugs. “I suppose so.. I have these all the time” “How do you have time to prepare for midterms? Especially if it's 11 p.m. and no one appears ready to go home” you raise a brow awaiting his reaction “well... I make it work and quit interviewing me” you frown
“I am not interviewing you. I am only asking some inquiries. Can't a girl be curious?” he rolled his eyes, “you seem too curious for someone who doesn't like me”
“Well maybe I don't like you a little less than before” Jay raises an eyebrow, querying how you worded your sentence “Clearly, you visit the library, but not enough. Your sentence is grammatically incorrect nevertheless, I know how to decode the drivel you spew, therefore I understand you.” As usual, Jay had to find a way to irritate you. “If you understand me, you could have just said thank you and called it a night.” Jay laughs, looking at his watch.
“Like you said it's getting late we have class tommrow come on let's go I'll drive you home” you nod “loving the jays girlfriend experience it's a shame you have such as attitude for that I'll rate it a 7/10” Jay stands up with his hand against your back, guiding you through the crowd. “A 7/10? Come on, I treated you well tonight; I even gave you this lovely outfit and shoes, and I- “woah, woah, cool down, I was just kidding.. you've been so sweet to me today I’ve basically fallen in love with you at this point” you smile.
“Your in love with me?” You hum “I said basically doesn’t mean I actually am don’t get my words twisted I know how badly you want me and all..” you wait for his response yet all he does is stare at you with a look. A particular look you recognise, the look he gave you before he kissed you that day. Was he going to do it again? You secretly hoped he would.
“Y/n actually I- Jay! Is that you my favourite nephew I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
Dispite the interruption Jay isn't sure what hit him, but he wanted to make you smile like that again and again, and he yearned for another time when he could be alone with you and do whatever he wanted.
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
From that day onwards You and Jay were near each other more from the start. You studied together, spent your spare time together, and even greeted each other in the hallway. While you still had some arguments and words flung back and forth, they were less frequent and less sour and bitter.
“Jay Jay Jay jaayyyyyyy” he hummed as you poked his cheek. He felt the sharp agony of your acrylics scraping his cheque, but not wanting to upset you, he took the pain silently, allowing you to do whatever you pleased. “I've been thinking we should go out,” he shoots his head up. “G..go out really ?” You agree, “Yeah, there's this cool bowling place that opened about 15 minutes away from campus; we should go together.” Jays smile dropped as glad as he was to go with you, he was hoping it was to “go out with you,” if you catch the drift
But Jay was happy that you were happy and that’s what matters now. Your closeness to eacother was somthing Your friends soon all picked up on yet no one questioned it too much because they were relieved that everyone in the group was now on good terms.
But was that really the case?
What was supposed to be a relaxed atmosphere transformed into an uneasy, uncomfortable quiet. Jay Jake Sunghoon and Jungwon are present, but despite the normal cheerful environment, today no one speaks.
“So.. what's up guys..” Jake sought to break the silence but received no response. He sighs and sinks into the chair, succumbing to defeat. “Actually Jake..” Sunghoon answers “I wanna know what's up too” he speaks addressing Jake, but his eyes are straight on Jays, and Jay understands precisely what he is talking about.
“If you have somthing to say just be straight with me Sunghoon” he clicks his tongue againt his check growing agitated “what I can’t seem to understand.. is how you wanted me to stay away from her so bad because she’s a “bad person” yet all of a sudden your associating yourself with you even hanging out with her privately which you never did before..”
“Honestly I wish I could give you a straight answer for that.. but I can't really explain how I feel and I'm sorry for how I acted back then towards you about it I shoukd have just been true with my intentions” he said “then what are your intentions” Jay gulped, little nervous beneath his gaze, “I like her too, Sunghoon, and I think I always have..maybe ”
The room fell silent as Sunghoon's eyes ramined on Jay's eyes, twitching fingernails digging into his skin as his skin redness became sore. “I feel like such a fool.. my best friend has been lying to me all this time I knew it that day with the smell it was y/n's I smelled the same when I invited her to ice skate with me.. you've been lying under my nose this whole time kissing her doing god knows what with he for all I know! when I expressed my fucking interest in her!” Jay felt terribly awful for how it all played out. He wished things had been different, he wished he had never liked you or that sunghoon had never liked you in the first place, but it was too late.
“Sunghoon, I-“save it” he stood up, grabbing his bag departing. Jay gazed down with regret. Jake sighed and hurriedly stood up to follow, while Jungwon remained behind to check on Jay.
Straight after class you proceed to the lounge and in the corner you find Jay and Jungown. You approach them ready to say high until you catch on to the vibes. As you gaze at their looks bewildered, you pry
“Guys? Is everything alright?” They both glance at you silently. Jay says nothing at first but mutters a brief “I'll talk to you later” as he collects his things and leaves. Jungwon tags along, giving you an apologetic look as he departs, leaving you perplexed and alone to ponder your feelings.
Jay has distanced himself since that day. Perhaps you would have preferred not to see his face back then, but the you now dreaded it. He became part of your routine, something you looked forward to, and now it's as if it never happened. You waved at him in the canteen one day, he looked away, (ouch) the next you asked him a question, he got up and left, the other at the store he made eye contact with you and went into another section , you called, he declined, you texted, he was online but left you on delivered.
It's almost pathetic how badly you wanted to talk to him despite the fact that he ignored you every time, but you didn't want to give up; you had some hope that he'd ultimately talk to you, but he didn't.
Yujin was becoming concerned about your state; you stopped hanging out with the others at lunch, you didn't respond to the group chat despite being the most active, you stayed in your dorm most of the time and stopped going out with everyone, and when you did, you looked tired and drained this wasn't like you at all.
“What could I have done wrong yujin.. I don’t understand we were so fine like 2 weeks ago then boom ghosted” yujin sighed as she pattered your back in attempts to comfort you she truely didn’t understand either “I really don’t know.. it seems you guys were fine from what I saw maybe it’s a him issue”
౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
Now it's the 15th, the day you dreaded. You had no idea how you would deal with Jay, or if he would even show up, because he now appears to despise you. You felt your stomach churn, which was a restless sensation. Taking the deepest breath your body could bear, you opened the door to see Jay sitting with some papers and reading them. You silently step in, locking the door behind you and sitting a few seats away while bringing out your paperwork.
Silence. As you expected
But impulsively it felt like the one chance you had to receive answers and closure because there were no excuses for him to run away and ignore you. “Jay” he hummed, not looking up, “why are you ignoring me? Have I done something wrong?” Jay doesn't say anything for a moment but eventually says “no”
“Why am I getting silent treatment then? And look at me when I'm talking to you.” Jay sighs softly, looking up to meet your gaze, and immediately lowers in sorrow as he sees your expression. “I've been wondering for weeks what I must have done to irritate you.. but I can't put my finger on it. We were getting there, Jay and we were getting along..then you just cut me off out of nowhere. What was the point if you were just going to do this? You might as well have just let me live my life, but no you made things complicated.”
“I..I'm sorry” you scoff in incredulity. He's not sorry; if he was, he wouldn't have done this to you in the first place if he cared enough. “ If you were sorry, you would not treat me this way, or... is this the goal to make me like you so you can then mess with my emotions!? and make me feel like shit since you despise me so much? If so well done actor of the fucking year.. you fooled me for sure.” You shake your head standing up, Jay replicates your movement, reaching out quickly seizing your wrist.
“Hey... no, no, it's not like that at all! Please hear me out. I didn't want to handle things this way” you sharply, remove your hands from his grip. The warmth he once gave you feeling disgusting It's as if a switch went off in your head, erasing any developing feelings and replaced them with what you once knew.
“What? Want to mislead me again with your lies and restart the cycle? Cut it out, Jay, you've won! Are you pleased with your achievements? Are you satisfied? And to think I thought we could someday... well, it doesn't matter anymore, does it? I don't want anything to do with you, Jay.” Jay was frustrated and scared, and he didn't know what to do. He attempted to convince you, but you refused to listen.
You turn to leave, ignoring his pleads. “Jay, if you know what's good for you, stay away from me right now. You've been doing so well lately, I'm sure it won't be a problem for you. Keep up the good work goodbye Jay,” you turn away, slamming the door behind you, leaving Jay to linger in remorse.
In frustration, he smashed his fists against the table, turning red. He was extremely angry. Angry at himself for being so dumb and small-minded; if he had just been honest with you, maybe things would have been different. Jay wasn't sure what to call it, but it felt like heartbreak more than anything. A wave of anguish overtook him, robbing him of appetite. He felt intense pain in his midsection, like if a shard had sliced through his gut. It felt like death, like despair, choking his body's breath and shutting down his brain effecting his ability to think.
With each passing day, you take another step away from him leaving him in the dark as he once did to you , roles now reversed he feels the same pain you did. despite his constant request and pleas that you show some signs. Your eyes show him distrust, and an averted stare.
“She's leaving today she didn't even say goodbye” Jake frowns and looks down as Jay strides into the room, reading a brow. “Who's leaving?” Jake and Yujin froze. “Uh.. no body jay it's nothing” he crosses his arms “tell me” Yujin keeps her mouth shut to keep her world safe, whereas Jake blabbers your secret under even the slightest pressure.
“Y/n! She is travelling for Canada today- her flight is at 8:45” Jake hurriedly covers his lips while Yunjin slaps him harshly on the shoulder “your so... useless,” she sighs in annoyance now looks at Jay "if your thinking of going don't bother there is no way you will make it in an hour she will be gone and wants nothing to do with..”
Yunjin halts in her sentence in shock as Jay speeds out his room you could practically feel the gust of wind from the speed at which Jay ran to his car. This was his last chance he had to at least try maybe now maybe now you would be willing to talk to him and sourt things out he needed and has been yurning to be in your Presence for so long
You sighed as you waited in queue to board your flight. Was this a hasty decision? Perhaps would it would improve your mental health 100%, especially since it was only for the rest of the academic year you needed this time for yourself. As you go through your playlist, you select a song and discreetly hum along to it, closing your eyes and immersing yourself in the music.
“Y/n!”
You were so engrossed in your music that you missed Jay desperately calling out your name as you made your way to the front, scanning your passport and pulling your bags closer to the jet. Jay worried and tried to get closer to you, but the airport was packed with people "y/n!" He called for you again.
But it was too late your figure was gone.
You wonder occasionally if you and Jay were actually incompatible , and how two wrongs may function together so strangely. Was your perfect harmony a lie?. Was it only temporary, or was it even there at all?-Or simply a thought you deluded yourself into thinking since you craving his attention so much.
You guess you will never know and neither will he.

︵‿︵‿୨♡ Winter King ♡୧‿︵‿︵
-So, going under the assumption that since you're a hero (kinda like Fionna or Finn)
-you're buff.
-He fanboys about it.
-He LOVES doing the 'damsel in distress' bit.
-He's the damsel.
-He's in distress.
-I'm serious, he was just kidnapped.
-Go help him now.
-Candy Queen sees your existence like a challenge.
-Putting the stakes higher,
-actually trying to kill the Winter King, (or do the cake batter thing, idk.)
-and waiting to see if you do anything about it.
-You do.
-You kick Candy's butt.
-Always.
-You sometimes team up with the ice scouts on rescue missions, or just for training in general.
-Winter is just...
-Fawning over you constantly.
-If you'll allow it, he'll follow you like a lost puppy, or ask you to carry him around.
-PRINCESS CARRY HIM RIGHT NOW.
-RIGHT NOW
-He loves feeling small and dainty in your arms.
-Even if he's taller than you.
-Let him have this.
-He loves how caring you are.
-He just wants to crumple you up and stick you in his pocket (affectionate)
-He's a silly little guy that thinks you're strong and cool.
-Every once in a while, after rescuing him from the obnoxious clutches of the Candy Queen, he wants you to do the dip-kiss thing.
-you know the one
-He's so in love with you it's unreal.
-While he's perfectly capable of defending himself, he's a king! He has a certain image he needs to uphold!
-So he just likes it when you get to show off how strong you are, while also protecting him.

You sit on the sofa, the bird still firmly perched on your shoulder. Bragi shows you the twelve-string, strumming lightly between stories about his travel abroad. Laufeyson glowers as he sits in the high-backed chair recently cleared of its clutter. The stout blond is quite talkative, it makes you wonder why your boss even brought you here.
"I'll be playing at Walpurgisnacht, so you will see me tomorrow," Bragi stands and places the guitar in a stand among several other stringed instruments, "perhaps Fossegrim will come too... he likes to sneak into my bag."
The bird squawks and tilts up and down.
"Likes you too," Bragi remarks. "Not as fond as your companion, I'm afraid."
Laufeyson shifts with a huff, "shall we continue to ramble? I did come for a reason."
"I nearly forgot," Bragi declares, "you requested it so long ago I nearly forgot."
"Yes, well, I left in a hurry my last visit and could not drop by, my apologies," Laufeyson rises and dusts off his trousers.
"Right, up in my office."
They leave you without much regard. You set aside your empty cup as Fossegrim rests his beak against your hair. He is rather big, your shoulder is sore from his weight, and yet he is comforting. You sit straight and hold out your fingers shyly. He bends to touch them and dips his head. You pet his feathers, uncertain what to do with yourself.
You hear a thump from above and a grunt. You look up as the bird hops down to the cushion. You rub your hands together and stay as you are. You don't want to intrude, besides, the place is so crowded, there isn't much space to move.
At last, you hear the stairs creak and the men's voices precede their reappearance. Laufeyson holds a wrapped parcel under his arm as a shank of hair hangs past his ear, dangling along his cheek before he sweeps it back. You wonder what happened.
"Sorry about the rug," Bragi chuckles as he scratches his neck.
"Yes, not to worry," Laufeyson dismisses, "as it were," he looks at his watch, "my mother will be less impressed with our delay."
"You will send my regards," Bragi smirks crookedly.
"I will let her know we saw you," he retorts, "let us be off."
He waves you over. You say goodbye to Bragi as you cross the room and the parrot wings over your head, rustling your hair as he lands on the banister post once more. He lets out a chitter and receives a hush from his owner.
"Best go before he grows more obnoxious."
You offer a tight smile as Mr. Laufeyson opens the door and you step outside. It's dark and the moon beams down brightly. You silently descend the steps and near the car. He doesn't say a word as he unlocks the door and you climb in opposite him.
He starts the car and steers onto the street without a word. You feel as if you've done something terribly wrong. You look at your lap and drag your sweat palms over your skirt.
"We need to be very clear about things, pet," he begins as the leather squeaks beneath his grip, "tomorrow, you must stay close to me. No more breaking the rules."
"Yes, Mr. Laufeyson. I'm sorry--"
"Do you remember the rules? That I asked you to be honest with me," he hisses, "yes? I know you recall, you are brighter than you look, aren't you?" He slaps the wheel, "if you need... time, or anything, you can tell me. You must tell me otherwise... otherwise how can our arrangement work? If I am ignorant of what you require, how can I provide it? You cannot be upset that I do not know."
"I... I'm not upset," you murmur.
"Yes, but if you were upset," he exhales heavily, "then I would like to know the reason for it. I--" He stops himself and shakes his head at the road, "I am only saying, if there is some issue between us, you cannot merely run away and hide."
"I didn't--"
"Yes, yes, you were reading," he cuts in, "I do hope you enjoyed your little story."
"It won't happen again, Mr. Laufeyson," you avow.
He takes a deep breath, "that's all?"
"I... I'm not upset, I said, I only..." you mull the words on your tongue, wondering if they'll even matter. "I've never been far from home."
He nods as he slows, idling at a sign, "very well."
You accept his response as he accepts yours. Tension lingers but neither of you wants to add to the boiling stew. So you look out the window and he glares out the windshield, driving on in repressed agitation.
Mr. Laufeyson leaves you alone that night, bidding you to keep the door locked and nothing else. You know for certain he's unhappy with you. You've already put a damper Walpurgisnacht and it's not even begun.
You sit in the small cone of light cast by the lamp and try to read but find the task impossible. So you tuck away Jane and her troubles and lay down to sink into your own. You don't see the next day going well at all. No better than any that have come before.
Perhaps it might be better if you found a reason not to be there. You could keep the white dress on the hanger and just stay inside where you can't do anything wrong. No one would miss you very much.
It's Frigga's celebration and you aren't an Odinson, no one would know any better. Mr. Laufeyson would be free to enjoy himself and not worry about you irritating him. That's all you seem to do.
Your eyes close heavily and you tumble down into a turbulent sleep. Dread colours your dreams and wakes you several times in the grim hues of the moonlight. The fitful night drags on into a dull morning, shining over you until it sears through your eyelids.
Walpurgisnacht. April 30th. A day that feels like a page turning.
You sit up and sift slowly through the early hours as if wading through sand. You wash and ready in the bathroom, ignoring the memories of two nights ago, the echoes of your whines, and the coiling of his touch. Now, he won't even use you. This could be it. When you leave this place, you may also be departing this life. It might just be for the better.
The event doesn't begin until the afternoon. Frigga said as much before. So you pull on a pair of tan pants and a peachy shirt. You near the door but don't flip back the lock. You should wait for a cue. For permission.
You stand at the window and watch the day bloom. The dew gleams on the leaves and petals and the air is fragrant with spring. Oddly, it does feel refreshing.
There's a soft tap, one you're not certain you heard. You turn and lean on the window ledge and hug yourself. It comes again followed by your name. Mr. Laufeyson's voice is just as even-keeled as the night before. Empty of any expression. That's worse to you than anger.
You emerge, head down, and bid him a good morning. You're met by a curt 'morning' and he ushers you down the hall. You smell bacon as you descend and the crackle of grease hisses in a pan. You walk side-by-side with Laufeyson out onto the veranda.
Odin sits, stirring a cup of coffee with a silver spoon.
"Ah, good morning," he chimes, "Joyous Walpurgisnacht!"
"Yes, happy day," Laufeyson intones and sits. You take the seat at his shoulder.
Your attention is drawn by men in work clothes out in the yard. They must be setting up for the celebration. You wonder how you should ask to excuse yourself from the event. You might pretend to be unwell. You don't entirely feel great.
"Happy Walpurgisnacht!" A thunderous boom makes you jump and grab Laufeyson's arm. He merely groans as Thor approaches and drags out a chair, dropping down with a sigh, "father, brother... lady, isn't it a wonderful morning?"
"Son," Odin squints at his son's open shirt, his chest shamelessly bare to the sunlight.
"Mmm, coffee," Thor pours from the carafe then adds a handful of sugar cubs to his cup. Laufeyson helps himself to tea before offering you some with a twitch of the spout. You accept with a nod and a please.
"Coffeeeeee," an echo drawls in the air as Hela strides in, chewing a strip of bacon absconded from the kitchen.
"Ghostly as ever, sister," Thor guffaws.
"Ugh, must you?" She snarls as she slumps into a chair, "ew, do those buttons not work?"
Thor smiles as he looks down at his torso, "it's warm."
"Or maybe it's the hot air stuck in your head," she retorts.
"Children," Odin rebuffs, "please, it is a holiday. Let's try to get along."
Laufeyson says nothing as he sips from his tea. You peek at him, finding his eyes narrowly set on his father. Another twinge pinches in your chest. You hope you haven't made things worse between them.
"Oh, we are all here already," Frigga flutters in, canary fabric swishing around her, "wonderful."
"Wife," Odin outstretches an arm and she goes to give him a kiss on the cheek.
"Mother," the siblings murmur in unison as you eke out her name.
"We will begin breakfast soon, I just checked with the staff, it is almost ready, but first," she pokes her elegant nail in the air, "there is one matter I need attend to. It won't take very long at all."
She smiles at Odin as he returns the sweet expression, then her eyes meet yours. Her cheeks pinken just a little. She sweeps away and disappears through the open doors. You hear her trill as she speaks to the staff.
"She is up to something," Hela slithers.
Laufeyson hums in agreement.
"Father," Thor peers over at Odin as he brushes his fingertips over his beard.
Odin shrugs, "I haven't any idea."
"Liar," Hela accuses, "you are not so sly as you think."
"I swear--"
"He definitely knows," Thor insists, "Loki, doesn't he? You see it, can't you?"
"I suppose..." Laufeyson squints and lets his voice dissolve into nothing.
"Here we go..." you hear Frigga chime before she appears again, "happy birthday to you..."
The song begins as two maids carry between them a double-tiered cake decorated with perfect white dollops of icing topped with raspberries. Your stomach gurgles and your chest racks as you sit up, caught in headlights as Thor and Odin join in on the melody but Hela and Laufeyson merely lean forward curiously. You gulp and look down at your lap.
As Frigga leads the chorus into your name, your shoulders slope and you turn your face away, tears stinging your eyes. How could she know? As nice as it all is, it's too much. You don't deserve any of this.
"Birthday..." you hear Laufeyson whisper quizzically.
You brace the armrests and push yourself to your feet as the song ends and the cakes placed before you. Your lips tremble as you look around the table. You can barely squeak out your apology before you flee, Frigga's hand glancing off yours as she tries to stop you.
You hurry away from the veranda, hurtling up the path blindly. You plunge into the brush and around the curving trails, retracing the same route Odin led you the day before. You clamour up to the gazebo and hide within, collapsing onto a bench as you fold over and shield your head.
Why would she do it? You don't matter! It's all too much. You don't want to pretend anymore. You don't want to act like you belong. You want them to let you go. You want Laufeyson to just do it already and throw you away.
You sit, bent over, weak and shaking, just breathing, paralysed. You hunch amid the songs of birds and the rippling of water. You can't move. You just want to stay and never come out.
A scuff makes you flinch. You lift your head to look over as a shadow steps into the archway. You raise yourself up straight and face Mr. Laufeyson.
"I didn't know it's your birthday," he says.
You don't say anything. Why would you tell him? Why would he care?
He lowers his chin, sliding his hands into his pockets as he steps into the stone structure, "if I'd known--"
"It doesn't matter," you say, "it's just another day."
"Mm, well..." he begins in a fragile tone, "I wouldn't agree. Birthdays are special..."
"Not mine," you pout.
His cheek ticks and bows his head, nodding as he thinks, "but... my mother did try to make it special..." he chews on his lip as he looks at you, "she's worried."
"She shouldn't care so much. She isn't my mother."
"But she is a good mother," he argues, "and she only wanted to include you."
"And I'm just as ungrateful as my father said," you sniff, "I'm sure you'd agree."
"I don't."
"Sure. It's why you left me alone all night. It's why you were so mad that I dare read a book. I know, Mr. Laufeyson, I know."
"Know what?"
You huff and cross your arms.
"I know better," you stand and jut your chin out. "I broke the rules again, I'm sorry."
"The rules... that isn't-- why are you being like this?"
"Like what?" You challenge.
"Please, I didn't come to lecture me--"
"I know the rules. I remember. I will be good," you drop your arms and force your spine straight, "I will apologise to Frigga and thank her. You're right. You're always right. I was wrong."
You go to step past him and he catches your arm, pulling you to face him, "stop."
"Mr. Laufeyson, is that not what you want? For me to be good? I'm sorry I made you look bad. I only... was surprised," you carefully measure your voice and force a smile, "tell me what to do, Mr. Laufeyson and I will obey."
His brows slant and he swallows tightly. He squeezes your wrist then releases you, "apologise," he breathes, "say thank you."
"Yes, Mr. Laufeyson," you reply and march through the door, "whatever you wish."
You keep your gait steady and set. He follows behind you and catches up. You return to the veranda in curdling silence. As the rest look up at you, you gather what's left of your strength.
"I'm sorry," you say, "I was only surprised and I... panicked."
"Dear, it's okay, I should've warned you," Frigga coos.
"I really appreciate it," you sit as Laufeyson pulls out your chair, "really..." you look at the pink cake, "I never had a birthday cake before."
As the words escape, you clamp your lips shut. It's only the silence that makes you realise how pathetic that must sound. You put your chin down and try to hide your embarrassment.
"Of course, dear," Frigga fills the dead air, "would you like to cut the first piece?”

i think that as we grow up, there’s always this little child that still comes out to play once it feels safe enough to.
the more satoru makes you feel safe around him, the more this child comes out to play, and he cannot be happier. even though it could backfire on him in the sweetest, most frustrating ways possible.
it can either build up over the week or a single day of satoru not giving you the attention you’re used to from him. he’d notice you getting quieter, retreating from making the first moves. he’d say that it sometimes makes you feel insecure even, but he’s never done that on purpose.
if anything, him making it up to you afterward is usually rather enjoyable for him.
this time, he’s been busy for a few days, only able to throw in mid-day texts and good-night forehead kisses, so you begin to retreat back into your shell. you stop texting him back right away, no double texting when he gets too busy to reply, turning your head away when he tries to kiss you good night, until the weekend finally comes.
it was friday night. work in jujutsu high ends early and both you and the students get the luxury of a couple more hours of freedom, but gojo was nowhere to be found all morning.
your sour mood could be easily detected by the first-years, rendering them just a bit more careful with you for the day, which could be a reason why they were done with their training sessions a bit earlier than usual today.
back home, you convince yourself that you’re unbothered. you light up a few candles, slip in the bath, and pour your favorite shower gel all over, letting the warm water carry the tension off of your back for a bit.
"i don't care," you repeat like a mantra as you put on nice pjs. anything can be happening, right? you shouldn't be bothered this much when he doesn't prioritize you. you knew what you were signing up for when your heart started to beat a little differently around him.
he's gojo satoru, for heaven's sake. with a status and a name like his in such a world, you most definitely were never going to be a priority.
the sun sets and there is still no sign of satoru, so you grab yourself a snack to try to fill the emptiness he is leaving. it could be pms, or you’re just looking a bit too much into it, but your eyes start tearing up at some point. you throw yourself on the empty sofa with something playing on the tv to distract you, but that’s when you hear the click of the lock.
even though it’s still late, this is the earliest he’s been home all week.
"i'm hhooommmee," the sing-a-song tone rings in the house. despite the way your stomach crunches at the sound of his voice, a roll of your still-teary eyes is uncontrollable. you can hear him move in the house until he spots you, and his footsteps accelerate until he jumps over the back of the sofa to settle in his normal position by your side. an arm immediately pulls you to him. "there she is!!"
"mmm," your smile is tight-lipped and barely reaches your eyes. you keep your attention on the tv, suddenly seeming to be much more interesting than your boyfriend.
now, satoru knew this is happening, and the man never shows up to a fight unprepared.
“what are you watching?” the lights turn off without either of you moving a muscle, leaving the light from the tv as your only guide into the darkness. he takes off his glasses, focusing on the tv for a few seconds. “new girl? again? what are we? 20?”
“i don’t have anything else to offer, i’m afraid.”
his head dips to your neck. the tall man takes some rather big, dramatic whiffs as he squeezes you even closer, pulling yet another eye roll out of you.
however, those eye-rolls seem to always come as a package deal with something twisting girlishly in your stomach.
“you smell so nice, baby, what the hell.” you feel his nose press against your neck almost obnoxiously.
“mhmm,” you let out, trying to pull away just a bit until he straightens again, a bright smirk on his very, very kissable lips.
“you took a bath without me?”
“that’s what one does when they get back from work to find the house empty again, yes.”
“did you eat?”
you say nothing, but your grumpy gaze snaps to his, and you wish you can just slap that victorious smile off of his face. “no.”
“i figured,” his hands slip to your waist, and in one swift move, you are facing him on his lap, knees on each side of his hips. “so, an early day at work, no food, and no boyfriend? you must’ve had the worst day ever.”
you’re not aware of the way your lips pout grumpily. you just frown at him and cross your arms over your chest with a roll of your eyes. “it went fine.”
“did it, now?”
“yes. very.”
“what’s this pout for, then?”
you glare at him. intensely, ardently, you just stare daggers into his head, and the man has the audacity to giggle at your reaction. his hands slip to cup your cheeks before he squeezes them together, making your lips pucker grumpily, then he kisses the pout away in a very obnoxious, loud, messy manner.
“you missed me, didn’t you?” he rocks your face gently, using a baby voice that makes you slap his hands away immediately.
“no.”
"oh you so did. you so did." he only stops rocking your face when you slap his hand away, a gesture at which he giggles lovingly. "I missed you too." he wraps his arms around your waist, leaning his head back against the couch so he can look up at you. "very much so."
"ah yes, yes, of course," you cage his head to the couch, frowning down at him. "what else? you didn't mean to act like you forgot I existed all week?"
"oh, how could i?" he tilts his head to the side. the blissful look on his face as he looks up at you, soft ocean-colored eyes and all, is putting you in a very weak position in this argument. "I can deadass write a 100k word essay about every thought I've had about you this past week alone."
you try to get off his lap, but steel grips are on your waist, pulling you flush back to him. his hand slips under your shirt, the cold skin sending shivers down your back.
"come on, baby. you know i'm sorry." his tone turns a bit serious, and your grumpiness begins to subside. "with yuji and sukuna's fingers, I can barely have enough time to even piss." he reaches up and brushes a strand of your hair out of your face. "i'd rather drop dead than forget you existed."
"ugh," you roll your eyes, turning your head away only to have it adjusted back by a gentle hand to gaze down at him.
"i missed you so much, baby," he leans closer, eyes turning softer by the second as he brings you in by your cheek, one that's literally burning under his touch. after all those years of being together, gojo satoru is still very capable of turning you into putty in his hands.
"i think i missed you more," you mumble, eyes planted droopily on his lips in the dark room. newgirl is still playing in the background. your body relaxes into his, and arms wrap lovingly around his neck. "I was literally about to start crying right before you stepped through that door."
he kisses you briefly, but it's interrupted by a fit of endeared chuckles. "oh no, baby," he holds your face in his hands as he laughs, and you try to push at his chest to get away to no avail. "I'm so sorry," he continues on shamelessly, making you lean your forehead on his. "I promise I'm gonna try to do better."
"shut up," you hit his chest. "don't do that. work is still important. that was selfish of me."
"never more important than you are," he swipes your hair from your face again, pushing it behind your shoulder. "besides, I already did what I wanted to do with the fingers in my possession. so until further notice, I'm all yours."
you lean down, giving him a proper kiss this time, one in which you both sigh in relief. god, you missed the way he tastes.
"good. we have a lot of rotting in bed to catch up on."

A/N: i spent forever trying to shorten this so it would be a one-shot but I lost too much of the story and decided to make it two parts, so part two will be posted tomorrow.
Warnings:: Alcohol use, Threats of violence
"I am so drunk." You turn to your best friend Becca and laugh, a big loud laugh that ends in a snort.
"I noticed you're a big sloppy mess," she eyes you up and down. "Can't take you anywhere, it seems," she teases as she pulls you up from your stool at the bar. "Time to go"
"What? Noooooooo!" You whine loudly."I don't wanna gooooooo yet!" You look at her with a drunken pout.
"Rideshare is outside. Come on, we'll go back to your place and chill." She takes you by the forearm, trying to keep you steady as she guides you out of the bar out onto the cold sidewalk.
She helps you get into the rideshare as you fall over yourself, giggling loud and obnoxiously. "Good lord, you lush!" She chuckles as she gets in beside you.
"Not a lush," you murmur under your breath, "just like to have fun is all. You should try it sometime"
The rest of the ride back to your flat is quiet. You rest your head against the door of the car, closing your eyes, the gentle hum of the car nearly lulling you to sleep.
When the car pulls in front of your place, Becca has to practically drag you out of the car and up the steps.
"Come on!" She struggles to hold you."You're not as light as you think you are!"
"Hey! Rude!" You chuckle as you try to stand yourself up straight, fishing your key from your handbag. You attempt to put the key in the lock but keep missing it.
"Give me that!" Becca scowls as she pulls the key from your hand. "You're a bloody menace, you know that, right?"
"I keep things interesting." You wiggle your eyebrows at her as she gets the door open.
"Just get in there and try not to fall." She motions you inside, and you stumble past her, making your way to the sofa.
As you plop down on the sofa, you groan loudly and say, "I'm hungry"
Becca rolls her eyes and heads to the pantry, picking up a pack of graham crackers, your favorite snack.
"MMMm grammys," you wiggle happily in your seat on the sofa as she throws the packet into your lap.
"Put something on," she says as she pours two cups of water from the kitchen.
You reach onto the coffee table to snatch the remote, almost tumbling off.
"I'm putting on the dragon show! But, I'm skipping to the second half. When the sexy guy with the eyepatch comes on"
Becca puts a cup of water in front of you.
"Aemond is a bad guy. You're not supposed to like him, " she laughs at you.
"If they didn't want me to like him, they shouldn't have him looking like that. I don't care what he has done. He's forgiven, and he has full permission to do whatever he wants to me at any time. " You giggle as you settle yourself back into the sofa.
"You're a sicko." Becca gets comfortable laying on the other side of your sofa.
You are barely into the episode when your eyelids get heavy. You fight the feeling of sleep trying to make it to the scene you want to see.
What seems like a quick blink was anything but. You wake up and stretch, rubbing your eyes to take in your surroundings.
You look around the room, yawning, as your brain turns on your eyebrows furrow. This is not your room. You look down at yourself. You are in a chemise under thick, heavy blankets.
"W-w-what the fuck?" You move toward the edge of the bed sliding your feet out and over the edge.
"Good morning lady, you look up and see Becca dressed up like some old time maid.
"Becca, thank God, dude. Where are we?" You stand up and run your hands through your hair.
"My apologies, my Lady, we are at the red keep? You have a morning meal with your betrothed. We need to get you ready for. " she moves toward a wardrobe and shuffles through some old style fancy dresses.
"Betrothed? What are you talking about!" You close your eyes. "Am I asleep right now? Cmon self wake up. " You smack your cheeks as Becca stares at you in concern.
"My lady..... Are you feeling unwell? Should I get the maester?" She walks towards you.
"The fucking what? No, i need an intervention! Clearly, I drink too much. " You pace the room, "Cmon wake up! Wake up!"
Becca moves towards the door. "I will get you some help, my lady"
"No! Don't bring anyone here. I just need to wake up!"
"My lady, I need to get you ready for morning meal." She shifts uneasily from foot to foot.
"Oh no. Nope. Not having some imaginary breakfast with some imaginary betrothed person in my fucking head" you look up toward the ceiling and laugh "I've lost the fucking plot"
"My lady, Prince Aemond, would be most displeased if you did not arrive as arranged"
Your head snaps down, "Umm, wait. Did you just say Prince Aemond? As in... pale hair? Eyepatch? Slutty waist? Extreme sexiness?"
Becca's cheeks turn a bright crimson. "Prince Aemond Targaryen, my lady. Your betrothed"
"Right. Well.... I mean. . This is a dream, right? No harm in sleeping a little longer, yeah, ok, dress me up!" You smile widely and hold out your arms.
Becca nods and gets to work, putting on layer after layer of skirts and undershirts and whatever else these old-time dresses require. She does your hair in a pretty braid that she wraps around your head.
Once she is finished, she smiles and tells you how wonderful you look.
"Ok, so where am I going?" You look at her expectantly.
"The dowager queen's chambers?" It's obvious that she is confused that you don't know this already.
"Right. Obviously, " you chuckle. "And uh. Someone will walk me there? I mean, I'm a lady and all that stuff?"
Becca tilts her head to the side as she goes to speak, but then stops herself. "Yes, Sir, Simon is just outside he shall accompany you "
You smile wide and rub your hands together. "Alright, then I'm off before I wake up!" You chuckle and walk quickly out the door to find a knight waiting for you.
"Lead the way, Sir. Knightington!" You lean forward hands behind your back.
"My lady, I am Sir. Allen Simon"
"Yeah, ok, cool. Let's go see the prince of hotness. " You wave your hand, gesturing for him to start walking .
The very confused knight nods and leads you through the halls of the old castle as you smile like a goofball walking behind him.
He stops in front of an old wooden door and knocks. A maid just like Becca opens the door and gestures you in while, sir. Simon stands by the door.
As you enter the room, your excitement peaks when you see Aemond and Alicent sitting at a small table with tea and foods set upon it.
You bring your hands to your face and squeal like a school girl. " ahhhh, best dream ever!"
They both look at you wide-eyed.
"I'm sorry dear, is everything alright?" Alicent tries not to be too obvious with the fact that she is secretly judging you while Aemond actually looks quite amused.
"Oh yes. Yep. All good here. " You sit at the table and unabashedly stare at Aemond.
"We were hoping to discuss the wedding." Alicent starts.
"That today? I'm hoping to get to that whole wedding night thing." You keep staring at Aemond. Who desperately holds back a laugh.
"Oh!" Alicent is shocked by your statement but quickly recovers. "No, my dear, it is still a few moons away"
"Ugh!" You grumble, annoyed.
The rest of the meeting Alicent goes over different things for the wedding. You just nod and agree with whatever she says while keeping your eyes on Aemond.
Aemond tries to listen to his mother but regularly turns back toward you to see you staring at him every time.
After breakfast, you are taken back to your chambers.
You sit in the room and stare at the door. "What kind of dream is this!" You sigh in frustration. "He should have come and fucked me senseless by now... this dream sucks"
You move towards the bed and lay down thinking if you go to sleep in your dream, you will wake back up.
When you wake from your nap, you look around. You can see that it has gotten dark, but you are still in the castle.
"When the fuck am I gonna wake up?"
You end up asking yourself this repeatedly when every night for the last five nights you go to sleep only to wake up back in the castle.
On the morning of the sixth day, you sit in the garden, your head in your hands. You are fully panicking. Are you in a coma?
"You look distressed, my Lady." Aemond sits down next to you. "Has someone caused you discomfort?"
"No. I'm not supposed to be here, but I'm stuck here. " Your eyes start to water, and tears trail down your cheeks.
"It may feel that way, I would assume most women feel like that when they join a new family and leave their own. Just know I plan to make sure your every need is met"
"No. I mean, I'm not supposed to be here. " You gesture your hands around wildly."Dragons aren't real, purple eyed, sexy one-eyed princes aren't either. I was poisoned or drugged or something, and now I am stuck in my head. " You put your face in your hands and start to cry.
Aemond is shocked and sits next to you silently. "I'm sorry my Lady. I seem to be having trouble understanding what you mean?"
"Dude, you" you wave him up and down "are from a TV show based on a book series. You are not real. you're in my head, and I think i'm dying because I can't get out of it"
"I can assure you I am, in fact, very real." He lifts your hand and places it over his heart. "Do you feel that?"
"Yes.... but I am imagining it. I lived an entire life. with electricity, cars, and cellphones, " you sigh. "No, either I'm in my head, or I somehow drank myself into an alternate dimension."
Aemond's skin prickles at this statement.
"I know..... someone... who may have the answers you seek"
You quickly snatch his hand and pull him up. "Ok, let's go." As you start to tug him, he tugs back.
"We are not going to see them now. I will come to you when the time is right. " His face is pensive, and his jaw taught.
"What? I can't wait anymore!" You tug him again.
He yanks his arm from you. "Stop it. You are acting like a child"
"So, bring me to your mystery friend and get my ass sent back to a world with heating and indoor plumbing, and you won't have to marry me anymore." You smile at him cheekily.
He clicks his tongue and looks you up and down. "Very well, I will bring you to her, but it will be on my terms." He swiftly walks away from you, his long hair swaying from side to side.
You feel incredibly relieved when only a few days later, in the dead of night, Aemond returns to you sliding into your room. You shoot up in the bed, looking around frightfully as your eyes adjust to the darkness.
"My lady?" He whispers as he enters the bedchamber with a hooded shawl hanging over his arm.
"Jeeze, you scared the shit outta me." You hop out of the bed in just your chemise.
He drags his eyes down your entire body to your toes and back up again.
"See, now you got me thinking this is a dream again." You chuckle.
He clears his throat. "Get dressed, and put this on." He hands you the shawl. You take it and quickly throw it over your shoulders.
"You... should put a dress on" he stammers.
"Right." You take the shawl off and go to the wardrobe. " I don't know how to put one of these dresses on by myself!"
He huffs and walks towards the wardrobe and pulls out a basic dress.
"It couldn't possibly be that difficult to figure out." He helps you into the dress, his hands touching your body as he does so.
He laces up the back of the dress, pulling you so close to him that you can feel his breath on the back of your neck.
He stands there for a minute with his hands sliding up and down the laces on your back as you hold your breath. Before he suddenly pulls away.
"Let us go quickly." He picks the shawl back up and places it over your head and shoulders. When you turn around towards him, he ties the shawl closed, looking directly into your eyes.
He moves his face close to yours and breathes in deeply before pulling back again.
"Follow me closely." He moves toward the wall in the back of your chamber and pushes it open.
"Oh, cool!" You nearly shout as he whips his head around back at you.
"Would you like us to be caught?" he asks, annoyed.
"Sorry." You cover your mouth quickly.
As you enter into the passage way following behind him, you whisper under your breath. "This is really cool, though," as you look around.
He makes a noise that you think is a chuckle, but you aren't sure.
You follow Aemond through the passageways and out down towards a smelly little town.
"This place is nice"
"No. It is disgusting. " He replies, Your sarcasm clearly goes over his head.
He leads you through the quiet streets in the dark until you come across a little hovel like house. He quietly knocks on the door as he looks side to side.
A very beautiful older woman opens the door.
"I was waiting for you." She moves to the side, allowing you both to enter.
Once you both enter, she closes the door behind her.
"This is her?" She asks, looking you up and down.
"Hmmm," he replies.
"Let me see your hand, child." She holds her hand out to you, and you place yours in hers. She closes her eyes and hums quietly.
"Yes, Aemond." She opens her eyes and looks at him. "You were right. The spell worked. When we sent Rhaenyra away, we pulled this girl in. There must always be a balance."
"We need to find a way to send her back," He says curtly.
"We agreed that whomever was pulled here in her place would be dealt with....." The woman says gently, holding your hand tight.
Fear prickles up the back of your neck.
"No. Not her. Send her back. Whomever comes in her place will be dealt with, but she goes back. Set up the spell again."
"I do not have everything necessary... " The woman starts.
"Alys! I said she goes back. Get what you need and then send for me. I will have her at the keep until then. " He takes you tightly by the arm and drags you back out of the hovel.
When you get outside, you pull your arm out of his grasp. "You! You brought me here?" You back away from him.
"Quiet your mouth." He snaps at you. "All will be explained once we are back at the keep now move." He reaches to grasp your arm again, but you pull it out of his reach.
"No. No way! dude, you dragged me into a different reality! This, This is insane!!" You start to hyperventilate.
"Enough!" He takes your chin tightly in his hand. "I could end this problem easily but have, against my better judgment, decided to take pity on you and simply send you back to where it is you came from." He calms himself slightly, letting go of your face but quickly taking hold of your arm.
"I would suggest, you do as I say in an effort to preserve what little patience it is that I have left"
You gulp loudly and nod your head, allowing him to lead you back toward the tunnels and back up into the keep.
"It shouldn't be too long." He pulls you up next to him as he lets go of your arm and reaches up to gently cup your cheek.
"You can trust me"

Before anything else, if you have the means, please consider donating to https://www.curesarcoma.org/ or going to Techno's official merch site to buy some merch, in which all sale funds will be donated to it and supporting Tdchno's family as well.
When I first saw Technoblade's channel when he focused on Bedwars content back in.. probably 2017, he had 300k and I barely paid him any mind. Thought he was a stuck up, famous jerk. Years later with the boom of Minecraft returning, I'd never realized he was such a sweet, hilarious guy just going out there and making people happy.
When he got cancer, I told my friends to calm down- that he'd be fine; it was a tumor, something that could be removed. I was really just trying to reassure myself. I didn't want to lose the man that made me feel comfortable in my own skin being loud, slightly obnoxious and intensely ADHD. I'm still in shock, and as I drew this the reality that he's gone kept hitting me and I'd have to pause, hold back tears. Even now it still hasn't fully hit me yet.
I can't imagine what his close friends and family are going through right now. I'm not afraid to say I bawled my eyes out when I watched the actual update video, and I cried even harder when I heard his dad's voice crack. I can only wish him and his family a safe, calm grieving. And for everyone else, viewers and fans and artists and everyone, I repeat what my last post says:
Your grief for him is real. Your pain for him is real. Please do not snoop or act like you were buddy buddy, but other than that, please know you are allowed to grieve him. He was a beloved icon in this community, and he will always be remembered as a legend.
And just like legends do, in everyone's hearts and minds, Technoblade will never die. I love you guys, and he did too. Take care of yourselves.
Rest in peace, Technoblade.

Even though Tetsu was a pain in the ass, I still followed his directions. Meaning I'd gotten all the "cute" things he described.
Tetsurō is my cousin, and even though we bicker a lot, he actually helps with 'problems' that I might have and he thought my relationship was one of those problems.
As I obviously spilled everything to him, he became some kind of relationship expert, saying how I should dress cute for Hajime and see how he reacts.
In the way he was telling me, it seemed very harmless, innocent even, but I should have known there would be a hidden meaning to it.
I had woken up earlier than usual, giving me more time to style my hair. I decided on two low pigtails with a cherry hair holder.
I added cherry-flavored red lip gloss along with red earrings.
Somehow, I thought all the red would clash against the blue on my school uniform, but it didn't. Thanks Tetsu for the advice, I reluctantly thought.
I hoped this wouldn't take a turn for the worst.
After I had fixed my outfit, slightly making my top a bit tighter, I took out my contacts and put on my glasses.
Tetsu had typed everything in a message to me for my 'lover boy'.
I wasn't sure how all of this would play out, but I still continued with it. Reading down the list, I put on clear mascara too. Make up wasn't really my thing, so I had to improvise.
When I was finally finished, I ate a small breakfast due to nerves and headed out the door. The next thing was to try to avoid Hajime all day.
I wasn't sure how that was going to play out since I'm the team manager for the volley club, which he's in. So I did the next best thing: stay busy.
Taking a deep breath, I walked into the gym. The team were still getting everything set up like the net and hadn't noticed me yet.
I set my bag down on my usual bench and headed for a part of the net to set up.
When I came out of the closet, I could feel their eyes burning holes into my back.
I turned around, looking at all of them carefully. "Well? Aren't you guys going to practice?" I motioned to the gym, and they all got their heads back into it.
I still haven't seen Hajime or Oikawa yet, but deciding not to worry about them, I carried on.
Halfway through morning practice, I heard the obnoxious sounds of the two boys entering the gym.
I quickly turned around to face them, "Morning practice started fifteen minutes ago; where were you guys?" I scolded them, seeing as they should be on time.
They are the captain and vice captain, after all.
"We, uh," Oikawa didn't finish as his eyes were trailing all over me. I could practically feel, and see, the glare Hajime was giving Oikawa.
"Uh, huh, great explanation. Go warm up." I stated it sharply, not caring about whether he was staring or not.
I walked closer to Hajime and said, "Yo, why are you two late? You're literally never late."
No matter how much I started speaking, trying to get his actual attention, his eyes would trail my mouth, the movements of my body, everything.
"Oh great, morning practice is over, guys." I whisked around and signaled for them to hit the showers so they wouldn't smell bad during classes.
Grabbing my bag that I had set on the bench, I quickly walked out of the gym, noticing Hajime keeping up with me.
I don't even know why I followed Tetsu's dumbass advice. Nothing had happened except for me getting stares. Which I didn't enjoy.
Even though I had spent an entire day looking cute, it felt worthless because I was avoiding Hajime.
Tetsu said it'd pay off in the end, but my ears were hurting due to the earrings, and having to reapply lip gloss was a pain after I ate or drank something.
However, I couldn't deny that I looked cute today, more so than usual.
School had already been over, earlier than I expected since I wasn't really paying attention. I was confused about how all of this would pay off.
Since school had ended, that meant I could stop avoiding Hajime, right?
As soon as I saw him, I engulfed him in a warm back hug.
"Hey, Hajime," I said softly, feeling his back muscles.
He suddenly took my hand and sharply led me over to a secluded area, the spot behind the gym. "We need to talk," he stated briefly.
Before I knew it, I was pressed against a wall with Hajime's arms trapping me inside.
A very light blush appeared on his cheeks as he looked down. "Everyone was staring at you." He spoke lowly, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
"You're mine," and suddenly his lips were on mine, roughly kissing me. One of his arms had moved to my waist; the other was still on the wall.
I broke away, looking into his eyes. My heart sped up as I saw my gloss on his lips. I resisted a giggle and leaned back in.
Hijime had picked me up, making me wrap my legs around his waist, not breaking the kiss. He pressed me against the wall as his tongue slid into my mouth.
Our tongues danced together, swirling around each other. The wet muscles exploring each other's mouths. I could taste my lip gloss, which happened to be in his mouth too.
It all was so hot, I couldn't help but to release small moans into his mouth.
I grinded a bit on his waist and let my hands play with his unusually soft hair.
Of course, he decided to take control and grip my hair, still in the low pigtails. He pulled away, catching his breath, a string of saliva connecting our mouths.
His eyes were lidded, tracing over my features as I'm sure I looked the same.
He had my lip gloss smeared all over his lips, and the taste of my gloss was still in my mouth. I let go of his waist with my legs and caught my breath too.
"Why'd you dress like that, baby?" He asked, hiding his face in the crook of my neck, his arms softly gripping my waist.
I could tell he didn't want to further this moment whilst we were at school.
"Well, I was doing what my cousin said," I trailed off, getting my phone out to show him when I was stopped by a glance at the time.
"Uh, Hajime? We should have been at practice twenty minutes ago."
I showed him the time instead, and he whispered an, "Oh, shit.."
Grabbing our bags, we calmly and quickly walked to the gym.
I looked over to him, seeing his lips red and plump from the making out. My gloss was still on his face, and it was sparkly too.
Hajime's hair was a bit messy from my fingers running through it.
I saw all of this but decided to pretend I didn't, wanting to see the outcome. We had walked in together, making his teammates stare.
"Where were you guys?" Oikawa asked, a hand on his hip.
"Sorry, I was doing stuff," Hajime answered, setting his bookbag down and stretching his arms, preparing to practice.
I turned towards Oikawa, who was taking a sip of his water, not curious anymore. Perfect timing.
"I'm stuff."
With those two words, I had managed to get him to spit his drink out onto the floor.
"Come again?" he wheezed out, coughing madly.
"Man, I wish." I smirked with my answer, knowing I'd get scolded by Iwaizumi later.

Dangerous Games - III ✮ Pairing: Aonung x Tayrangi/Omotikaya fem reader (possible Neteyam x reader as well) ✮ Tags: Reader POV, friends with benefits, p in v, aftercare, fluffy fluff fluff, Aonung x Reader, slight Neteyam x reader, reader has intimacy issues (childhood traumaᵕ̈), jealous Aonung, jealous Neteyam <3 ✮ Word Count: 5.4 k PART 1 HERE | PART 2 HERE Note: this (backstory and character dynamic) is heavily based of my wattpad fanfiction "Dangerous Game", it's just a little more mature than I would post on my WP so I'm doing a Aonung x reader part now instead of the Aonung x OC in the fanfiction ˙ᵕ˙
Tumblr media
You didn't exactly make a mistake, you know that, yet it's not the best position to be in. On one hand, there's a massive, obnoxiously hot skxawng that is obsessed with you, happy to do anything you like, but on the other, the principal for not giving in to his endless and amused attempts at seduction has dismally failed.
Yet every few days different encounter isn't exactly making you regret your acceptance of his "friends with benefits" offer.
You might get hot from training, or Aonung might be frustrated with his unsuccessful attempts at ikran taming, and suddenly you're finding his head buried hungrily between your legs, or bent over as he's balls deep and roughly thrusting, all the while smoothing your hair and whispering his moaned praise.
You're always careful to not get attached, to never pay too much attention to the sincerity of his words and his surprising gentleness with you when you aren't in the middle of one of your "benefits", but you can never miss it.
It's starting to worry you, the way you're now starting to like the tender touches, the way he brushes your hair out of your face and tells you how well you're doing.
No one has ever been this careful with you, bothered to try at look after you like this. You know it's your fault that you push everyone away, but Aonung is the first to refuse to be pushed away.
He cares, for some inexplicable reason that makes no sense to you. He's infuriatingly stubborn, just like you are.
So weeks after the arrangement began, you begin to notice the other things, things that only mean one thing.
"He really likes you, you know."
"What?" you say, snapping out of your daze and looking up at Kiri, who smiles, her eyes darting to where yours had just been watching Aonung with Rotxo in the river.
You, the three metkayina and the Sullys had taken the day to go to the river so Rotxo, Tsireya and Aonung could swim.
Neteyam looks up from besides you as you frown at Kiri.
"What are you talking about?" you clarify.
"Aonung is obviously down fucking bad for you," Kiri grins. "I mean, he can't ever pull his eyes away from you, and when you aren't around him, he's always looking around to see where you are."
"No he's not," you scoff. "He-"
"Loves you," Neteyam finishes, his face blank and bored, as though he's pointing out the fucking obvious.
"No," you shake your head. "He just had a little thing for me at the start that-"
"Has grown into an unbearable love?" Kiri suggests. "The only question is if that love is unrequited or reciprocated."
"No!" you exclaim, covering your face. "We're just... friends. ish. Friendish."
"Right..." Neteyam says, raising his brows at you. "So you don't fuck."
"That's - that's- no- well, yeah but- I mean NO-"
"Oh Eywa," Kiri says, her incredulous laugh interrupting your awkward, desperate stammers. "You totally do!"
"That's not a big deal," you snap. "He's attractive and it doesn't mean anything, we're just... helping each other out, I guess."
Kiri mouths the words helping each other out, before turning and shooting her brother a disbelieving look. Neteyam's gaze is still and expressionless, flicking between your flushed face and Aonung in the river.
You follow his gaze to see Aonung staring at you, and you quickly turn away, grabbing Neteyam to do the same.
"It's just sex, nothing else," you say strictly.
"Yes," Kiri sighs. "But you're old enough to have more. You could find a mate. Besides, you deserve to be happy-"
"You don't have a mate," you say defensively.
"She has Rotxo," Neteyam points out. "Lo'ak and Tsireya have each other. You're the only one who-"
"You don't have a mate either," you protest.
"Well that's different," Neteyam sighs. "I'm the next Olo'eyktan, remember? I can't just pick anyone for my mate, and besides, who I want-"
"WHO?" you say excitedly. "Is there someone else?!"
Neteyam doesn't answer, and you tackle him to the floor excitedly, shaking his shoulders and demanding he tells you who. Neteyam reluctantly opens his mouth to speak, but then he looks over your shoulder and quickly closes it.
Aonung is standing there, so massive that you have to crane your neck to look up at him. You have to admit that it's hard to not stare too hard- his paler smooth teal skin is glittering with little gleaming droplets of river water, and when you're this low besides him, you're kneeling for a very different task.
You don't need him to speak to understand what he's thinking about, but it's a question of why. However you just slide off of Neteyam who was still pinned underneath you and stand up.
Neteyam's face hardens as he watches you face Aonung, brows raised and waiting for him to speak.
"Can I speak to you?" Aonung asks dully.
Kiri is gaping, Rotxo and Lo'ak are laughing to themselves whilst Tsireya is adorably oblivious, and Neteyam is watching silently and emotionlessly as you nod and follow Aonung through the trees. You can feel his cold golden gaze burning into your back until you slip between the trees, and even when you know he couldn't see you any longer, you can feel the ghost of his inexplicable gaze between your shoulder-blades.
"Yes?" you ask, once you pause a little while away.
"Is there something between you and Neteyam?" Aonung asks, frowning down at you.
You blink confusedly back. You weren't expecting him to speak- expecting more of the usual quick fuck so you could both release some tension then head back to the others.
"What do you mean, something between me and Tey?"
"You call him Tey, for one thing," Aonung points out. "And you're with him a lot-"
"Funny," you say, folding your arms. "Because he says the exact same thing about you."
"But we're actually fucking," Aonung says, without any pretence of a smile in his blunt, deep voice.
"What are you trying to say," you ask with narrowed eyes.
"Do you- uh -have any other friends," he asks, arms folded and blue eyes fixed challengingly in your golden-amber ones.
"What does that matter?"
"Because I want to know what I have to share," Aonung growls.
There's a strange, almost possessive glint in those ocean eyes now. Share. He thinks that he needs to share you.
"Why would it matter," you whisper. "We're not anything, this is just an arrangement. You're free to do whatever you like too."
You think for a moment that you broke Aonung. He is completely still, glaring so irately down at you with those blazing, large blue eyes as you try to guess what he's going to do next. But he still manages to surprise you when he leans forward and crashes his lips onto yours.
Everything has always been tentative, frightened to cross the barrier that would be too much for the other, but Aonung just doesn't seem to give a damn right now.
His mouth is warm and hungry, fangs lightly nipping your soft lips, hands roaming and grabbing and caressing with careless oblivion in a way that makes your skin ache afterwards in a welcome sting and bruise.
Then suddenly you're lifted up and you're on your knees right there on the forest floor. You can feel Aonung's breath hot and heavy as he nips at your neck, folded over your much smaller, arched body and sliding your tewngs away with quick hands.
"Is this-"
"Yes it's fine," you say, gasping a little as you feel yourself being stretched open, small stings of pain shooting through you as you drop your forehead to the ground and grunt. This is different to before, bent completely over with your face pillowed against the ground.
When he starts to move, it completely knocks your breath out, so you're left gasping for air you never manage to catch as he thrusts again. His grip on your waist is bordering on strangling, yet you find yourself unconsciously following him, pulling yourself back to meet each one of your thrusts with a choked moan.
His sudden roughness and hunger and desire is startling yet undoubtedly welcome. So this is what it's like when he's unrestrained, hot and animalistic, rutting fast and hard, pushing you into a further arch while his sharp teeth nip at the back of your neck and shoulders.
It's starting to get too much, the coil in your stomach growing too close too soon, and your moans are starting to border on lewd whines and whimpers as you sink your teeth into the flesh of your arms.
You're clutching the ground for dear damn life, arms attempting to pillow your face as your whole body rocks forward with each rough, almost ruthless thrust.
"I'm going to-" You gasp, your thighs trembling as you sob against the floor. "Oh, god, oh fuck, oh shit, I'm going to-"
You can feel him twitch inside of you, and you moan at a particularly hard thrust. Each rock of his hips knocks every breath, every thought out of you until your heart is pounding in rhythm with each increasingly rough, deep, animalistic thrust of his cock rutting between your legs.
"Wa- wait," you gasp, as another thought occurs to you. "Aonung, the others."
"What about them," he grunts, not slowing down for a second, hand absent-mindedly moving to your shoulder-blades to push you into an even deeper arch.
Between choked whines, you manage to say, "They're right over there. They're going to hear!"
"Guess you're just going to have to be more quiet," he says carelessly, no doubt knowing that there wasn't a fucking chance of that happening.
You just bury your face deeper into your arms, hoping that they'll be enough to hide the moans knocked out of you with each of his deep thrusts.
He has you pinned firmly beneath him, yet it feels snug and comforting despite the pain of his grip. It feels like he's fucking everything into you, even his scent, so each thrust is enveloping you in his warm, tropical scent.
Then finally with a loud cry that you tried so hard to stifle and kill, your entire body pulses as your orgasm blazes through you like fire as Aonung continues to fuck you through the quivers of your release.
You yelp as he speeds up now, brutal and animalistic as the last tenterhooks of his strained restraint snaps and he buries himself deep inside you.
You just give out, going slightly limp so he's holding you up as he comes, hair spilling over you as you just rest against the floor, breathing heavily in an attempt to steady yourself as you choke at the sensation of impossible fullness.
Then when he finally stops, he seems to return to himself, realising that you're just lax on the floor, only held up by his rough grip on your slightly bruised hips, flushed and slightly tear-streaked face hidden shamefully in your arms and curtained away by your long dark hair.
"Shit, are you okay?" Aonung asks, pulling out and lightly tilts your chin so he can see your face.
You just groan weakly and attempt to swat his hand away, a mortified little smile on your face as he sighs in relief and flops to the ground beside you.
"Feeling better?" you croak, wrinkling your nose at him.
Aonung exhales shakily with a small laugh. He turns to look at you, and there's a note of something in his eyes that you just don't understand- like he's trying to see if he would be able to get away with something.
Then he tentatively reaches out and tucks your hair away. When you don't protest or pull away, he lightly pulls you closer, so your head is resting between his shoulder and his neck, your arm draped tiredly across his chest and your body nestled cozily against his larger one.
You're tense. You've never done this, never cuddled, never allowed someone to be this fucking close. But then again, you've never fucked the same guy twice, and you've been in this arrangement with Aonung for weeks.
But this time was different, aggressive and desperate and hot and messy and overwhelming, and you're completely fucked out.
"Are you alright?" you ask Aonung quietly.
That's weird too, that you're asking Aonung about how he is. That you care how he is.
"What do you mean?" he asks gently, nuzzling closer into your neck. You try to ignore how comfortable it is having his lips resting warmly against your collarbone.
"Well," you say, with a bitter, shaky laugh, "it looked like you were a little... pent up."
Aonung groans and buries his face deeper into your hair.
"Aonung," you say gently, turning so you can see him.
You are inches apart, nearly nose to nose as you rake your eyes over his face. He looks torn between mortified and as though he's trying to hide from you. You wonder if it's this frustrating for him when you hide like this.
"I just forgot about the arrangement," Aonung mumbles, not meeting your eyes. "I just- I..." Surprising yourself, you tentatively reach up to brush your fingertips against the soft teal skin of his flushed face. His eyes instantly flick to yours, and his lips part just enough for you to lightly touch them too. "I just... I didn't like seeing you with Neteyam."
"Oh," you says softly. You have no idea what to say to that- especially when its something that you always kind of knew, but never expected to be told. Especially when it never processes in your mind that you could be loved. "Neteyam's just a friend," you laugh lightly.
There's a slight crackle behind you like twigs snapping, but when you look up, there's nothing and no one there. You frown, but Aonung lightly guides your face back to his before you can think more about it.
You sit like that in silence for a little bit, but it surprises you how it's not awkward at all. It's comfortable and warm and quiet, pillowed against his muscular body with his head tucked gently beside yours, hands absentmindedly playing with your hair.
Usually you would never allow this, but you're frankly fucked out, and you doubt you'd be able to push him away even if you wanted to. So you just close your eyes and rest for a moment, until he speaks.
"So when do I get an ikran?" Aonung asks, shifting slightly so you're facing each other now, yet you're still close enough for him to hold you.
"Soon," you shrug. "You can ask Neteyam to-"
"What if I don't want Neteyam to take me," Aonung asks.
"Lo'ak or Kiri might be free," you shrug. "If you manage to pull them away from Tsireya or Rotxo."
"What if I don't want the Sullys?" he asks, eyes glittering with amusement and slight incredulous annoyance as though you were being stupid.
"Then who-" you start to say, a confused look on your face before Aonung cuts you off, rolling his eyes with a fond little grin, his hand gently snaking to tilt your face as he kisses you.
You have half a mind to snap at him, to remind him that kissing was a little too personal, too intimate for the agreement when you weren't actually fucking, to shout at him for cutting you off, before you realise you don't actually mind the intimacy of the kiss when you're nestled in his arms, his hands gently caressing your cheeks and holding you close, his heart beating warmly and comfortably against you.
In fact, the thought of him pulling away seems worse than the actual closeness, tenderness and suggestiveness of the kiss, then suddenly he is, and you're frowning at the sudden, tiny, yet extremely unwelcome distance between his lips and yours.
"Can I kiss you," he asks, just a little late.
"Yes fine," you grumble impatiently, yet by his little, delighted smile, you know he took it for what it secretly meant, yeah you'd better kiss me skxawng.
"So you'll allow this?" he grins, inching closer. "It doesn't break the agreement?"
You have a strong temptation to smack that smug, delighted expression off his face, but you are just fucking exhausted, and his kisses are like coffee. But before he can lean back in and satiate you, there's stupidly familiar voices though the trees and you're panickingly staggering up to not get caught.
"Bro," Lo'ak says, looking you up and down before raising his weird hairy human eyebrows at Aonung. "Are you trying to mark her now?"
You flush deeply, only now noticing the little purple bruises his grip had roughly left, as well as the little nips and hickeys that now adorned your body. You feel even more aware of Aonung's marks when you look back up and meet Neteyam's gaze, his rich-golden eyes blazing bright as they trail over the bruises, hickeys and love bites before turning coldy on Aonung.
Aonung returns Neteyam's golden gaze with his own icy blue one, and an unspoken challenge seems to be passed between the two boys. You expected Neteyam to react like the others, amused like Lo'ak or scandalised like Tsireya, but he remains cold and expressionless, not looking at you or returning your nervous smile. Instead of laughing off or denying Lo'ak's question, Aonung just smirks slightly and looks away, and Neteyam swallows hotly.
The walk back to the village is a strange one. There's some weird confusing tension between Neteyam and Aonung that you probably couldn't decipher in the best of times, let alone when you're so completely fucked dumb that you're putting all your best efforts into walking normally enough so the others don't know that you're whole body is turned to jelly.
Tsireya is laughing with Lo'ak at the front of the group, but Kiri and Rotxo seemed to have noticed your clumsy tiredness because Kiri links her arm with yours and gently leads you along and Rotxo distracts you with quiet, sweet conversation.
But you're hardly listening, because you can feel two gazes blazing straight into you from behind. Although no words are spoken between them, the weirdness between Aonung and Neteyam seems to radiate straight into you.
Whatever, you'll figure it all out when you're back to normal, when you aren't so weak that you're susceptible to Aonung's tenderness and intimacy, when you aren't so fucked so dumb and stupid and reckless that you aren't wanting to kiss him again.
But there's no mistaking the intensity of the gazes on your back as you reenter the village. One blazing gold, the other icy blue.
In the next few days after that trip to the river, you're terrified. Terrified of what happened between you and Aonung.
Not of the sex, no that was doubtlessly the best you've ever had, but of what happened after. Of the cuddling and the kiss and the tenderness with which he cared for you and the fact that you let him be so tender and intimate.
So okay, maybe seeing your whole clan get murdered and destroyed by sky people at a young age could be traumatising, maybe even give you a few silly little intimacy issues, but your total aversion for intimate affection had always been uncomplicated.
No one could betray or hurt you if you never let anyone get close enough for you to care about them. No one could ever get hurt by you if they never cared for you in the first place. But Aonung has. Yes he's pussy-whipped, but he's liked you from the start and you knew that. No matter how hard you tried to discourage him or push him away, he's just as stubborn in liking you as you are in not liking him.
And now you don't know what you like. You think you know what it means that you trusted him to take care of you, that you let him get close in a way that wasn't just meaningless activity and was genuine care and intimacy. So you have to stay away from him.
Which is why for the past few days, you've only been in your kelku. You refuse to go out, knowing full well that no matter where you go, to the forest or around the village, Aonung will track you down and ask why you've been avoiding him, be all concerned and sweet and ARGH.
You groan and flop back down onto your woven bed. You're running out of things to do- stuck in your kelku. You've woven an obscene, unnecessary amount of jewellery, carved two new knives, beaded several new tops that you can only wear if you one day summon the courage to go outside and face the prospect to running into Aonung.
You're snarling with annoyance of being self-isolated in your kelku, hissing to yourself under your breath as you string together the beads of a new top when someone ducks into your kelku. Your body stiffens, but you quickly relax when you realise who it is.
"Hey Tey," you grin, as he smiles slightly back at you. "What are you doing here?"
"I haven't seen you in days," Neteyam says, frowning slightly at you. "I was getting worried- you seemed... off, that day by the river."
"I was tired," you say, brows furrowing at your friend. Usually Neteyam would be sitting with you talking about a guy, torn between slight protectiveness over you and slight amusement at your scornful attitude to intimacy. But now he's frowning, worried about you. "Aonung tired me out."
You expect him to grin, to joke, to maybe even make fun of you, but Neteyam isn't Lo'ak. Your close friendship with each of the Sullys is different, but you always considered yourself closest to the eldest, training with Neteyam, bonding over the struggles you both went to to prove yourselves.
Since you sought refuge with the Omotikaya at a young age, you and Neteyam had been the closest of friends. As you got older, he was busier with his various duties as not only a warrior, but the future Olo'eyktan of the clan. The two of you never really discussed it, but in the last few years, when you both started having 'experiences' with others, you grew apart slightly.
It's not like your relationship had ever been romantic, but there were certain elements of intimacy and jealousy you had always just assumed to be the closeness of your friendship. But now Aonung pointed it out, was even jealous of Neteyam himself, you have to wonder if there ever was more between you and the prince of the Omotikaya.
Then the Sully's had left for a bit to the reef, and when Neteyam came back, you had both grown. Even without any spoken elements of romance between the two of you, the obvious fact that both of you had had several if not many sexual and romantic experiences with others just seemed strange for a friendship forged in childhood.
You lower your beading and look up at him to find those golden eyes are fixed straight in your own, bright in the afternoon light filtering into your kelku from the gap in the weaving he left slightly ajar, his lips slightly parted as he tries to decide what to say. Fuck. No. Okay so maybe Aonung is getting in your head. Maybe Aonung is opening your eyes, because now Neteyam just looks... different.
Since the reef, Neteyam has gotten more muscular, more than the typical Omotikaya yet without the broad physique of Aonung. It's probably all the swimming or the diet of tropical fruits and fish or something, you suppose, but why did you never notice how he's just so... attractive, with his blazing golden eyes and smooth handsome features.
Sure, all you'd heard from other girls for years was how Neteyam was so handsome and hot and strong and a good lover, but that had all just been silliness because Neteyam was your friend nothing more, to either of you.
"Can I help you with something?" you ask, swallowing heavily, horribly aware that you had just spaced out and stared blankly at him for way too long.
"Are you okay?" he asks, frowning and moving closer to you, setting down a pile of stuff so he can get a better look at you. "You're acting weird."
"Am I?" you ask nervously, swallowing hard and blinking way too much.
"Yes," Neteyam says slowly, crouching beside you and frowning deeper. "You've been in your kelku for days, you haven't seen anyone, talked to anyone, and everyone was starting to get worried. I was getting worried about you Rey."
His nickname for you, shortened from Reypaytun and meaning blood red, was one of the first things you ever shared with him as your first friend among the Omotikaya. It was a fond name he chose given the blood red war paint favoured by the Tayrangi that you never got the chance to wear, and ever since he called you Rey, the little warrior, the last Tayrangi.
He seems to notice the way you pause at the nickname Rey as a flood of memories from your childhood washes over you, and he places a comforting hand on your leg, saying, "It's me. You can tell me if something's going on. Is it Aonung?"
The sound of Aonung's name snaps you back. The one you've been having all these strange feelings for, the one that mentioned Neteyam having feelings for you. You swallow hotly again, and Neteyam frowns. Again.
"Yes," you say quietly. Instantly, he coldens, scowling and hissing protectively.
"Did he hurt you? You looked a little bruised but I didn't say anything because I thought maybe you-"
"No there's nothing wrong like that," you say quickly. "Aonung didn't hurt me, not at all. He's been... well I've been... um..."
Neteyam sighs, his ears drooping slightly as understanding dawns on his face, his hand sliding off your leg and dropping towards the ground. The absense of his touch feels like a sign, like your friend is slipping away just as his hand had. That the two of you are growing even further apart than ever.
"I know Rey," he says gently. "I mean, it was pretty fucking obvious from the start that he liked you. I tried to tell him that it wouldn't end well, that you never let anyone get close, but you proved me wrong like usual."
"What do you mean?" you ask quietly, your tail sweeping behind you. You miss your friend.
"For years I thought we were the only ones you'd let love you," he says, now looking slightly wistful. "I never thought it would be Aonung of all people that managed to get your heart, not when literally every guy ever is head over heels for you."
"You aren't," you point out, though even to yourself, your voice sounds unsure. "Right?"
Neteyam doesn't reply, just smiling wistfully and sighing, his strong jaw clenching. You try to think of something to say, when the rest of his words clink into place in your brain, and you sit up quickly.
"What do you mean get my heart?" you ask sharply. "He hasn't- not-"
"Rey please," Neteyam says, not looking at you. "You literally let him cuddle you, take care of you, play with your hair. It goes beyond banter and pointless sex and you know it. You know it means more to him, and you know that it means more to you too."
You make to shake your head, but then you realise your body isn't moving, as though it refuses to say that Aonung means nothing. Fuck.
"Fuck."
Neteyam laughs humourlessly as you sit up, face twisted in distress as the stupid damn truth of your friend's words sink in and you frown at him. Neteyam isn't looking at you, hiding his face from you, and your harboured suspicion that he's secretly laughing at you is immediately stomped out when you notice.
His ears are drooped all the way down, and his hands are lightly fiddling with his necklace. It's a small habit he only fell into when he was agitated or upset- you often found him fiddling with the beading of the traditional warrior necklace when he found expectations too much, when he got in trouble with his father, when he felt he wasn't enough.
"What's wrong Tey," you ask, lightly reaching out to touch your friend's head in a friendly pat. But it feels different now that you're both all grown up and grown apart- he feels too big, not like when you were inseparable children.
Neteyam looks up, his face suddenly so large in your hand- no longer the adorably delighted childish face it once had been, now all chiselled and handsome and suddenly twisted with almost concealed, melancholy bitterness as he sighs and pulls away from you. It means something, that he pulled away.
"It's just weird," Neteyam says, with a poor attempt at a smile. "I always felt proud knowing that you let me close to you. That I could help you and protect you, that we would be so close forever. Then shit happened and I had to leave and we just grew apart slightly I guess. I just never thought that when we came back, Aonung would be the one to get you."
He swallows and looks away, obviously having said more than he meant to. You are about to reach out to your friend before remembering him pull away, his hand slipping away, his gaze somehow refusing to reach your own. But you're closer to understanding now more than ever, and being the ridiculously stubborn person you are, you can't just let it go now.
"What are you trying to say Tey?" you ask, frowning at him. "Aonung said... he said..."
"What?" Neteyam asks, now completely abandoning the pretence that he isn't annoyed and letting the confusing, uncalled for bitterness seep into his words. "What did your Aonung say about me?"
"That you..." you start to say, throat feeling dry under his suddenly blazing golden gaze. "He thought there was something going on between us."
With that, the last remaining light in Neteyam's face just snuffs itself out, and you feel your heart sink desperately. His tail stops flicking agitatedly behind him, thudding listless and dead on the floor behind him, his gaze dropping away somewhat as the fire in those blazing eyes dies, as though you put it out.
"I mean," you hastily say, trying to get him back to normal. It makes your heart ache in a terrible, painful sort of way to see Neteyam look so doleful and betrayed, makes your whole body shiver at the thought that you made the prince of the clan look so broken. "He thought you maybe liked me. But I told him- you only see me as a friend and I-"
"It's fine Rey," he says quietly, not meeting your gaze. "I get it."
"No!" you practically cry. "I don't even know what I'm trying to say- please stop! You don't need to get anything, Aonung was just being stupid and I don't even know what's going on."
"He wasn't stupid," Neteyam says quietly.
"What?"
"He wasn't stupid," Neteyam snaps, standing to leave. "He was right."
"About what?" you breathe, heart hammering uncomfortably in your chest. You know exactly what Neteyam is going to say next- but it just can't be true.
"That I liked you. Like you," he says angrily, taking a deep breath before rushing his next words. "But I know that you see me as a friend, and that you have your whole fucked up thing with Aonung going on."
You exhale shakily, squeezing your eyes shut for a moment and trying to think of what to say. When you open them again, Neteyam's blazing eyes are filled with fiery possessiveness again. It's everything you've always marked as friendship that is so clear in his gaze now, and you swallow heavily when he steps closer.
"But I know you Rey," he whispers, suddenly towering over you as he steps closer. "And I could be better than Aonung."
At that, you freeze. This is Neteyam, your friend Neteyam, the most desired man in the clan, the prince of the Omotikaya standing over you, blinking down at you with his large golden eyes and telling you he's better than the other boy you fuck, who's also his friend. What. The. Fuck.
"What are you saying?" you whisper, hating how squeaky your voice sounds.
"Let me prove myself," Neteyam shrugs, now just a foot away.
You mouth wordlessly. On one hand, all you've heard for years is Neteyam's incredible talent with women, his amazing looks and bravery and size working wonders for every girl in the clan, but then again, Aonung was also completely and utterly satisfying and hot and muscular in himself. You aren't tied down though. Just because you had been having a good time with Aonung didn't mean you couldn't with anyone else.
But your friendship might not last with Neteyam if you took this step. Yet then again, it's already changed, even more so now he's told you he likes you, absolutely now he's offering what he's offering.
It seems a little as though he's stepping on Aonung's toes- along the same lines of impressing you, proving himself yadayadayada, but as you meet Neteyam's gaze, you can't seem to find a problem with anything.
He's staring down at you, inches away from your lips yet still a foot taller, blazing golden eyes staring straight into your own.
fuck.

It Was For The Right Cause
Pairing - chris × fem!reader
Summary - this girl is always talking shit about the whole school and i decided to shut her up especially sense she talked about my friends
WARNING - cursing, fighting, and i think thats all
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hate this place. I can't stand any second longer, the only reason i go to this hell hole so consistently is because my friends they encourage me to go, cause they no i won't and there's no one stopping me or no one cares enough to figure out i haven't been going. Not that my mom doesn't care but her full focus isn't on me, and don't even get me started on my dad but that's not what this is about.
Everything today is seeming to bother me there's this girl next to me obnoxiously chewing her gum practically smacking and whispering stuff while scrolling threw her phone. Then there's this guy across the room who has his headphones blasting school work .yeah. not even music damn school work.
The bell finally rang i got up from my seat taking all my thing's and stuffing them in my backpack, and storming out of that classroom pushing pass whoever was in my way. i would normally wait around for chris, matt, and nick but i didn't, i was fed up with today i didn't wanna speak to anyone
I was digging out my locker to get my books for the next class until i heard laughing it didn't seem directed just in general laughing so i look around and saw paige. Ugh. I couldn't stand that bitch yeah thats what she was she was mean to people for no reason but everyone was so swoon what i mean by everyone i mean guys they liked her so much for whatever reason, i mean appearance wise I'd die to look like. i think ...
She had full blond hair, the blue eyes to match, the perfect teeth to match the 'cute smile' but only because she had braces half her life cause her teeth used to be fucked up. And with no fail she wears fitted clothes everyday. But personalitywise she was the devil but yet she still had a boyfriend and guys lining up to be her slave blah.. blah... blahh..
But what really caught my attention was her and her friend looking at the phone.
"Oh my gosh... they have a little intro" she was laughing bent over laughing. My ears practically perked up she had my full attention when i heard the triplets intro for there videos. "And don't even get me started on the girl that follows them around like a puppy" he friend laughed
They put there phone down and started talking. But i stopped listening I'm sure i was tired of thinking for the day.
"But that one i think his name is chris he has potential but he puts it to waste hanging with his brothers so much"
Nothing was going through my mind they were talking about chris, matt, and nick my bestfriends and that's not gonna happen i refuse to let that happen she gets away with so much shit, just cause she's pretty. But all that was running through my mind is my mom saying don't take shit from no one. So i didn't and won't so here i am my feet moving towards the girl.
"What are you doi-"
she was cut off by my fist right hooking her in her face, making her hold her face and crying. I push her down on the ground "SHUT THE FUCK UP" i had more to say but i wasn't wasting any time to beat her ass. I got on top of her and punched her square in the nose messing her 'cute little nose' she screamed and repeated "ow my nose" her scream scared me a little but that's not my main concern, it was trying to hurt her physically sense she wants to hurt others mentally i tried to hurry before i got pulled off of her by a teacher. I hit her again then tried to pick her head up and hit it to the floor but i got snatched off of her by a teacher.
》》
I was in the principals office avoiding stares that i got, holding an icepack on my knuckles. It's not like i was anything tough i feel like i did that to relieve stress, not even because she was talking about my friends but i had enough when she started talking about chris he was so nice he didn't deserve that he did nothing but be himself. So to make fun of them for trying to be themselvesand have fun. Thats low blow.
The school called both me and Paige's parents i loved my mom she was willing to do whatever she needed to do for me. But i know she was gonna do the whole discipline thing when she didn't really care she was so fixated on the 3 year old she recently gave birth to but what i was hoping was she didn't bring my step dad he tried so hard and controlled me to much always asking; where I'm going, did i eat, why am i wearing that, "you know it's cold why wear that". It's so annoying he wasn't my dad so stop trying . Not that i would want him to act like my dad cause he wasn't any better, he's actually worse then my step dad in every way
I was snapped out of thought by the buzzer for someone to walk in. my mom walked in with my little sister Alexis she looked over at me then at the front desk lady. "Im sorry to cause you trouble but you're here because you're daughter got in a fight and she's suspended for 3 days" my mom let out a breath i know she was tired of me getting in fights it was my 5th one this year but i refuse to let anyone belittle me for what felt right to me, becauseit was all worth it. "3 days is a bit absurd don't you think" my mom pleaded. The lady snapped her head up from the form she was signing "i think not she broke the girl's nose". My mom had enough she snatched the paper "c'mon" she was mad i don't know, but i sure would be if i was her.
Before my mom got in the car she buckled my sister up in the car. Then got in the front seat, i got my phone out and saw 2 missed calls from chris i ignore it i don't feel like explaining what happend, to him or any of them. That's when i look over at my mom and she's just staring out the window i took my airpods out and started listening to music but then i took them out when my mom looked like she wanted to say something so i waited for her to say something.
She started up the car and then she turned over to me "why.. why are you doing this to me." oh my gosh here she goes making everything about her "i didn't do it for you or because of you GOSH" ,,then why" my mom layed back in her seat "i dunno" i mumbled looking away from her "oh my gosh i can't believe this you won't even give me an answer you are my child act like it stop getting in fights your a good girl don't ruin you're future over fights y/n please just do better" i couldn't look at her cause part of me hated that she was right it's not like i liked the fighting or i looked forward to fighting cause i didn't i wouldn't even take myself as the fighting type no one would really, i mean i wear baggy t-shirts and sweatpants almost everday if not that then crop tops and sweats. To be honest i just got in fights when necessary or when someone deserved it.
Chris's pov
I came out of class and didn't see y/n i brushed it off and headed to lunch but of course i noticed people whispering, but don't they always do that it's highschool? Matt caught up with me "hey im gonna be late coming to lunch, so is nick " he left me.
I sat at the table and got my phone out and scrolled through my socials then opened my Instagram and my DM's were filled with video's of y/n fighting and that also looks like what she was wearing today. Your joking she didnt get in another fight. I called her i had to hear her part of the story first but she didn't answer i guess she just missed the call, so i called her again but she didn't answer i guess it was clear enough she didn't wanna talk.
From a distance i saw nick and matt walking up to the table and they sat down, they had stuff to say you could just see it on there faces.
"Y/n got in a fight" nick said kinda whisper yelling looking around to see if anyone heard him
"I know it's no secret, nick my phone is filled with the video cause people keep sending it to me" i said cutting my phone off, putting it in my pocket.
"Have you tried calling her" matt asked, i was already pretty annoyed with the whole situation, the staring, the notifications of people sending me the video, and overall y/n getting in a fight. i wonder how she's doing. I kinda zoned out so i just nodded my head answering matt "well before you get all butt hurt i heard peop-" i cut nick off
"NO!" i lowered my voice a bit "i don't wanna hear what other people are saying we should all equally want to hear her side of the story first" i didn't wanna hear other peoples assumption, for all i know they could say she did it for fun.
They both look at eachother with confused looks on their face. Nick spoke up "don't you think if she wanted to talk or tell you what happend she would have picked up your damn phone call" he said through gritted teeth "look im just saying no one really knows the story better then her"
"Then lets go" matt said out of nowhere. Nick looked over to him "go where?" "To her house if that wasn't obvious enough" matt said smacking Nick's shoulder and walking out the cafeteria basically implying for us to skip school but I'm not missing anything anyway.
Y/n pov
We made it home, my mom needed to work and my step-dad was already at work. So i was left watching my sister. just great. I got my phone out and went on my socials and of course my fight video is already being spreaded around. I cut my phone off and lay on my couch. Then i hear a bang and stuff spilling on the floor it was my little sister on a stool in the patry with a box of cheez- it knocked over and little orange squares everywhere. "lex really?" I take her off the stool and put some cheez-itz in a bowl and sit her on the couch then i head back to the pantry with a broom to clean up the mess. Yeah i wish it was that simple when i was little. I heard a knock on the door "gosh can i catch a break" i said under my breath. I walk over to the door.
"What do you-?.." i said until i opened the door all the way and saw nick, matt, and chris "aren't you guys supposed to be in school" i turned around hearing footsteps run to the door and it was Alexis she gasped and tried to walk outside to them but i picked her up to stop her "well that's where you're supposed to be too, now can we come in the wind is making it super cold out here" nick walked pass me not really asking but telling me that they're coming in
"Did you guys come here to lecture me too over this dumb fight cause if so it-"
"No, no that's not what we're doing we just want to know what happend" chris said sounding empathetic.
I set lexis down and walk over to the couch where they were sitting "it's nothing serious, paige and her friend pulled up you're youtube channel and started making fun of you guys, she also said i follow you guys around like a puppy which i don't i'm my own person and umm.. she.. yeah that was it" i stopped my sentence i couldn't tell them the real reason i was so driven to punch her "you sure it sounded like you had more to say" chris said, nick hit him on the shoulder "uhh no that's it" i put my hands in my pocket and plop down next to chris on the couch he looks over at me but i don't return the look instead i just stare at the blank tv "well don't do that next time please y/n we don't need you suspended" nick said walking over to me standing next to where im sitting "i alread am, for 3 days actually" they stared at me with there mouths hanging open like i just told them i shot the president "so who wants to make cookies and popcorn and watch a movie" I say trying to distract them from the current conversation matt runs to the kitchen "dibs on making the cookies" "I'll help" nick adds and lexis runs in the kitchen after them
I can't help but to smile at the two, i get up and i feel chris grab my arm my stomach fluttered and he didn't even do anything I turn to look at him "can you please just tell me what else happened, cause i know you had more to say" i avoided his eye contact cause he was right, paige basically said he had wasted potential and that pisses me off cause it's not true.
"Chris, that was it" i take my hand out of his grip and walk into the kitchen. Lexis was on the counter helping nick and matt make cookies from scratch so i just popped the popcorn for the movie night.
A/n: so i hope this didn't disappoint im going to make this a series. Also tell me what i could do better so i can fix my mistakes cause with this i feel like i didn't really put the words to all her thought process and everything she did and how she felt. 🤷🏽‍♀️i tried

Do you have any angsty headcannons of Damian Wayne
Sometimes I wonder if he has any insecurities about being the youngest and the fact that he's fifth (sixth? seventh?) in a long line of batkids who have already done pretty much anything he can think of. Blowing up the League of Assassins? Tim did that. Starting a superhero team? Sure, Damian's done that, but it's kinda derivative of his siblings'. Dying? That's literally Jason's whole schtick. With older siblings, he's gonna invariably end up with some hand-me-downs and it's a lot harder to carve his own unique identity.
He's over the whole "blood son" thing, but he can't help but feel a little jealous when Bruce talks so fondly about the others' Robin days, meanwhile Damian is still referred to as "having potential" and needing to work on this or that. It's like when your siblings have a bunch of trophies and you know you're just as capable, but you haven't been given the chance.
As Robin, everything he did was measured up against his siblings. Dick stuck the landing better. Tim was more careful with evidence. Steph decoded the riddle faster. Jason could take on twice as many goons. Though Damian tries to do things his own way, Robin never feels like something that's fully his.
Even though the Waynes can buy ten of everything, he still ends up with some of his siblings' stuff—Dick's sweatshirt, Jason's books, Tim's old camera. Damian can try and pretend they belong to him, but then he comes across a scribble in the margins or an old picture of Young Justice and it's a reminder that he's still tethered to the people who came before him.
And maybe that's why he still picks fights and gives people a hard time. At his age, he'll do anything it takes to stand out so someone notices him, and being difficult accomplishes that. As an immediate result, he gains individuality by being known as the Demon Brat. And because he gets that instant gratification, he keeps doing it over and over.
It's no secret that he and Tim aren't always on good terms. I think part of it has to do with Tim being the next closest predecessor and Damian has an easier time picking him apart compared to facing off against Dick or Jason. Because of that, though, I think Tim would be the first to pick up on why Damian is this way.
Do they communicate about it? Mmm not yet. This is the most emotionally stunted family we're talking about, so instead of indulging Damian's behavior, Tim flat-out ignores it and it's one of those instances where ignoring works because Damian stops, at least with him.
But then he moves on to Steph, but her tolerance is way lower than Tim's and she lets Damian know that. She straight-up tells him, "Hey, quit being obnoxious. It works now because people are going easy on you, but one day someone's gonna screw you up and you won't have a Batman to run to."
He doesn't really believe her because 1) he was never one to care what strangers think about him and 2) getting the job done was more important than being liked to him.
Cut to school being back in session. Damian mainly keeps to himself—partly to lay low, partly because he never got along with other kids before and didn't see the point in trying again. His grades are stellar and for the first month or so, teachers praise him all around for being a model student.
But that eventually slows down as his straight-A's and thesis-sounding papers become routine—it's his norm, and teachers stop pointing it out as something remarkable.
And just like before: when being Robin stops working, be the Demon Brat.
He keeps his grades up, but the teachers start sending emails home about things like chewing gum and using his phone in class. Every time, Bruce just reminds him to behave.
One time Bruce offhandedly mentions how Jason was a well-behaved student and Damian can't help but think, "That's the point. I'm not Jason."
The emails pile up, now with new problems like extended bathroom breaks, breaking the dress code, and even one incident where he forged himself a note to get out of class early.
But the thing that lands him in detention is a snide comment to the wrong kid that spirals into a schoolyard brawl. And even though Damian pulls his punches, it still ends in bruises and a bloody nose, and it takes two teachers and the football coach to break it up.
And just his luck, Dick's in Bludhaven, Alfred has a doctor's appointment, Tim and Bruce are at a business meeting, and Jason wants to stay out of this, so guess who's there to pick him up at the end of the afternoon.
Steph doesn't beat around the bush. Her first response is, "What did I tell you?" And it pisses him off because she's right.
That evening, they go on a long drive where she eventually gets an explanation out of him. And she gets him, 100%. She tells him how she had big shoes to fill as Batgirl and how she always compared herself to Cass and Babs.
Then she says: "Robin isn't a personality you grow into or break out of. It's just a costume. Who you are underneath is who Robin becomes."
For good measure though, she goes to Bruce later like, "Hey, do you need a laxative? 'Cause you're so emotionally constipated that you forgot your son is his own person, not a work in progress or extension of someone else." Then she swipes his credit card and takes Damian to the arcade to make him feel better since he still has a week's worth of detention plus Alfred giving him double the chores.
After that, people will still occasionally slip up, but when Dick ruffles his hair and says they'll ace a mission "the Damian way," it's reason enough to believe that things are looking up.

Hi! I was wondering if you had any little headcanons on Jax, Kinger, and Gangle? Like maybe a story on how they bonded or something like that? Also, have a good rest of your day! I love your art!
I keep thinking about Jax and how he might have potentially gotten his key. It's been a source of so many branching possibilities for headcanons! One of the things I've headcanoned is that maybe Jax had received the key from Queenie just before they abstracted. A little token for "just in case". Drabble below and extra thoughts CW: angst, implied abstractification, mentions of Queenie
┍━☽【❖】☾━┑
Jax frowned as he looked at his hand, a golden key resting upon it; placed there by the dark queen piece that Kinger took a fancy to. It was the middle of the night, or at least Jax assumed it was. When Queenie entered his room, Jax assumed it was morning and he was being fetched for another adventure, but no one was awake yet, except him and the queen. "What is this?" the rabbit asked. Queenie simply smiled, despite the absence of a mouth, it seemed apologetic. "It's a key!" they replied, and Jax rolled his eyes but not with any real annoyance. "Yeah, I know what a key is, Queenie. This place makes people crazy, not stupid." Jax retorted, nervously twirling the heavy metal object in his hand. "What's this for?" 'It couldn't possibly be for an exit. If it had been, then they would have all gotten out by now.' Jax thought to himself. "It's a key that opens what is closed. It's something I won eons ago when Caine would let us ask for things after winning games and adventures." Queenie explains. This gave Jax no form of reassurance, where was this conversation even going? He furrowed his brow. "Okay..." he says slowly, unsure. Holding the key a little tighter now. "Seems, kinda important, don't ya think, toots?" he finished, trying to lighten the now heavy atmosphere of their conversation. Queenie nods their head once, "It is and that's why I'd like you to keep it... In case anything happens to me." With that Jax raised both hands in mock surrender, in disbelief. He laughed darkly as he shook his head.
"No. No, no. We're not having this conversation, Queenie. I'm not hearing this talk, not from you." Jax felt cold, dread sweeping through him. He couldn't imagine Queenie abstracting. Jax knew it could happen, it happens to anybody who so much as slips away too far into their own mind. Abstraction can happen to anybody, and Queenie was no exception to that. But still... It was hard to imagine. "It's just in my nature to take precautions, Jax. I'm not saying goodbye, this is just me making sure that if anything happens to me..." Queenie insisted. "No." "If anything happens to me, I need someone who's equally grounded to check on the others..." "No! No, I'm not listening to this cr#p, take the d$mn key back—" Jax felt Queenie's hands grasp gently onto his shoulders, he didn't realize he was trembling. A fragile silence passed between them. "Please, Jax." "Why me... If anything happened to you, I don't think I can lose Kinger too... And Gangle's not going to..." "Because I know, in your own way, you care for those two as much as I would, Jax. This key can help you go into rooms that are locked. It always starts with isolation, Always. Remember that. If Kinger or Gangle... or god forbid anyone else starts locking themselves away, even in the morning, you be your obnoxious self and charge right in, you understand?" Jax closed his eyes, pained at the thought of what this favor and responsibility entailed. "Jax, I need you to promise me you'll do this... Jax..." --- "Jax!" The rabbit blinked his eyes open, he looked confused and scared for only a fraction of a second before his eyes focused, and he lazily leered down at Gangle who looked up at him with concern. "Pomni was asking you a question..." She pointed out, Jax simply shrugged, his lazy grin stretching as he stretched his sleepiness away. "Mn, oh yeah? Did you, really? You normally whine so much Pomni, I keep thinking you're a squeaky toy NPC passing through." Voices droned away in his mind as the usual lecture from Ragatha about being mean to others carried on. His eyes casually swept to check everyone's attendance. Everyone was present today, ready for a new adventure to start. 'Good.' He thought, the golden key weighing heavy among the items he secretly carried. ┕━☽【❖】☾━┙ Of course, I don't know how Jax might have gotten the key or keys in the first place. I can't wait for the canon explanations (if any) if TADC ever gets a full season (I'm hopeful)!
Chess is one of my favorite games and knowing that queen pieces are powerful in their own right and can move in any direction, I kept thinking about how the key Jax now has could have belonged to Queenie previously.
And Jax's low-key (haha pun intended) checking on everyone who was left in the circus after Queenie abstracted was one of the many ways Jax became even closer to Kinger and Gangle.
But the little drabble above implies I also headcanon that Kinger, Queenie, and Gangle are Jax's cornerstones, his friends that he grew close to. Enough that when Queenie felt herself starting to slip away, she confided to Jax with the responsibility of checking on their remaining loved ones. It's a heavy responsibility but it's neat to think that Queenie knows that Jax has a certain way of coping with his surroundings that ensures that he'll last longer than most.
Also, imagine:
Jax is the one who gives Kinger the idea of making a pillow fort (an impenetrable fortress). To make it in the middle of the circus. If Jax sees Kinger is there, it puts him at ease that Kinger is still there, wearing his madness just as well as he advised him to (in a previous hc-comic I made) when he first arrived in the circus.

a devil's safe haven
Matt Murdock x Reader
Summary: Matt comes back home after a hard night out on the streets of Hell's Kitchen, luckily, you're there to catch him if he falls.
A/N: I'm finally watching Daredevil and it's safe to say that Matt has won my heart, so naturally, I had to write for him. Idea given to me by my dear @iamnicodemus.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
He should be home already.
It was a little past 3 AM, you were curled up on Matt's couch, your third coffee cup warming up your hands and chasing away the winter's cold air. The window was always left open whenever Matt wasn't home, it was easier for him to get back in, you told yourself. You also told yourself to try not to worry, that he was more than capable of taking care of himself. It didn't help, but you liked to remind yourself of it.
You already memorized all the advertisements displaying on the huge billboard right outside Matt's window, now it only served as a source of light to his otherwise dark apartment, the colors of it highlighting the raindrops that hit the window. What started as a light drizzle earlier that night had evolved into a full-blown downpour.
Matt would need a warm bath, you mused to yourself. The thought of him being out there all alone in the rain wasn't pleasing at all. To be fair, you would offer to accompany him, but he'd die before allowing you anywhere near danger. So you stayed, you made him coffee if he wanted, or offered a shoulder for him to lean on if he needed, most of all you just stayed, though; he'd tell you himself that was more than enough.
Maybe another fifteen minutes of you sitting in the dark and listening to the rain passed, then the sudden sight of a dark figure moving on the fire escape snapped you back to reality and you were on your feet in record time, half-drank coffee cup forgotten on the coffee table.
Matt stumbled back inside his apartment, his dark clothes were dripping wet and clinging agonizingly to his skin, instantly forming a puddle underneath his feet. He stood still then, you could see his lips hovered open yet no words came out. You knew he was accessing the room, focusing his hearing past the sound of rain hitting the pavement outside and in search of your heartbeat. When he finally found you, a huge sigh escaped him.
"Hey," you greeted quietly so as to not disturb the calmness surrounding the room. Coming to stand in front of him, you reached a hand out, your fingers found his arm. Matt was worryingly cold to the touch, even through the fabric of his shirt you could almost feel the goosebumps on his skin. Slowly, your fingers slid down his arm until you found his hand; he had already rid himself of his gloves.
Matt's hand closed around yours with something akin to desperation. He took half a step closer to you. The obnoxiously bright lights of the billboard were shining against his face, you could make out little bits of blood coming from a cut on his lip and another on his cheek, but nothing too major, thankfully. He was shaking, however, violently; you felt it in his hold. You couldn't tell if it was because of the cold or something else.
With your free hand, you removed his black mask, finally revealing to you his warm and kind eyes—you've always loved his eyes; how, as sightless as they were, somehow they always managed to find yours.
"You're freezing, Matt," you squeezed his hand, thumb ghosting over the bruises on his knuckles, "Why don't you take a shower to warm up, hm?" You refrained from asking if he was okay, from his silence and unsteady hold on himself, you already knew the answer.
Matt's lips turned up with a faint yet gentle smile at the sound of your voice. He nodded, running a hand through his drenched hair. "Yeah, that sounds nice."
His shower didn't last longer than ten minutes, and when you heard him turning off the water you already had a warm mug of hot chocolate waiting for him.
You couldn't help the swelling of your heart upon seeing Matt walking out of the bathroom in nothing but a comfy hoodie, sweatpants, and the fluffy slippers you'd gifted him on his birthday—seeing him this relaxed and comfortable always made you smile. And it was almost as if Matt could feel your affection from the other side of the room, what with how his cheeks turned a soft shade of pink and he fiddled with the cuffs of his hoodie. Maybe he did.
Holding his mug in one hand, you walked up to him. You didn't say anything as you easily reached a hand behind his neck, fingertips grazing the hair there while you pulled him down so you could place a lingering kiss on the corner of his mouth. He smelled like a mix of your coconut shampoo and faintly of his aftershave.
Matt leaned against you then, his forehead dropping to your shoulder in what was one of the only moments he allowed himself to be held, to be comforted. He pressed into you, half a sob being muffled against your neck.
Sometimes he needed saving too.
You pulled back slowly, reluctantly. Cupping his cheek with your free hand, you took only a moment to properly look at him with the extra illumination of the kitchen light; his face was a little bruised and battered, his red-rimmed eyes looked far too tired, and a pained frown lingered on his lips. You raised the mug between both of your bodies, silently asking him to take it.
Matt grinned as he closed his fingers around the warm mug, "Hot chocolate?"
"Yeah, I'm not giving you coffee at this hour," you quipped back, tugging on his hand and leading him to sit on the couch with you.
"But you drank it." Matt raised an amused brow at you.
You hummed as you snuggled closer to him, no space left between you as you draped a thin blanket over both your legs, "That's not relevant."
Matt naturally leaned closer to you, his head coming to rest on your shoulder. He hummed appreciatively when your hand found his hair, your fingers disappearing between the brown locks. "Do you wanna talk about tonight, love?" You asked quietly, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead.
Quietness lingered for several beats, all you could hear were the drops of rain hitting the window and the unsteadiness of Matt's breathing. He took a big sip of his hot chocolate before speaking; "there's nothing to talk about, sweetheart. It was just a normal night," but his voice was strained, tight, as if each word hurt to be spoken.
"I know you, Matt. I can tell something is bothering you." You kept your voice soft, twirling a strand of his hair between your fingers, "There's no need to tell me if you don't want to, but just know that I'm here, okay? You don't have to go through this alone."
Matt took a deep shuddering breath, eyes closing at the words. He dug his teeth into his lower lip when he felt a tear rolling down his cheek, and then another, and another. Slowly, he crumbled, his heart thundering against his ribs when he lost any remaining composure he was fighting so hard to maintain. But you were there, somewhere along the way you'd taken the mug out of his hand and placed it on the coffee table; you encircled both your arms around him, pulling Matt closer to your body as you whispered sweet nothings in his ear.
He, in turn, held onto you as if you were his only lifeline, head buried between your neck and shoulder. Matt could feel his tears dampening your pajama shirt, but before an apology could stumble past his lips, you spoke.
"It's okay, baby, I got you."
Sometimes he thought you were an angel, tailor-made just for him, sent from the heavens to keep his soul pure and whole.
"It was a robbery," Matt started, a few syllables cracking in his voice. His fingers bunched up your shirt and he squeezed you tighter. "It was supposed to be just a simple robbery. Three guys. I was fighting two and then- then the other started shooting..." Matt hesitated, words caught up in a lump in his throat.
You felt tears prickling in your own eyes, your heart breaking in half for the man in your arms; who was so, undeniably good, and yet suffered under the claws of the worst of humanity.
"And there was a girl, she- she didn't-" a sob cut him off then. "I wasn't fast enough..."
"Shh, it's alright," You tightened your arms around Matt, quietly crying with him, feeling the pain and hurt leaving him in waves. You turned your head so your lips were pressed to his temple. "It wasn't your fault, Matt. It wasn't your fault," you sealed the promise with several kisses to his skin.
"But I should-" he started, yet you cut him off.
"No buts," you pulled back then, urgently, just enough so you could hold his face with both your hands. Thumbs brushing away the stray tears still falling from his eyes, "You can't blame yourself for other people's sins, you can't, because it's not your fault okay?" You said like a mantra, a prayer you hoped he'd understand.
Matt leaned his forehead against yours, falling into you because he knew you'd be there to catch him. "Okay."
You were both basically lying down on the couch now, with Matt resting mostly on top of you, his arms securely around your waist keeping you pressed to him at all times. You hugged him too, one arm around his shoulders while your other hand found his hair again. Having him in your arms was your idea of peace, all warm and secure—a safe haven for both you and him.
Several minutes went by, you thought Matt had already fallen asleep, snuggled with you. But he whispered; "Can we stay here tonight?"
A genuine smile came to your lips, and you chuckled, "Yeah, we can."
You felt the shape of Matt's own smile against your skin.
When morning came the next day, it would be with soft rays of sun shining in your eyes and making you hide yourself into Matt.
He'd place gentle good-morning pecks on your lips, all goofy smiles and heartfelt laughs; before you got up to make coffee for you both. And Matt would wrap his arms around your waist and sway clumsily with you around his kitchen, while you halfheartedly scolded him for spilling a bit of coffee on the floor.
Matt would kiss you again, again, and again. Whispering confessions of love between each kiss as you watched the golden sunlight dance in his eyes. It would be one of those mornings that are simple yet special; that look like nothing yet are everything because it was one more morning where you had each other.
Most of all, it would be the calm after a storm.

Tumblr media
The home of Alfie Solomons was the quintessential diorama of an old man's bachelor pad. Despite the anxious and angsty attempts by his elderly maid Sarah, the home still carried the air of a man who not only preferred to be left alone, but also had no plans of adding anyone into his inner sanctum. There was paper and documents strewn about, half read books piled by his favorite chair, a hosting bar cart that was looking more ancient than him, and a massive dog making his home on the floor in front of the roaring fire. Alfie silently thanked Sarah for her efforts. Sarah was the best housekeeper he could have ever asked for, she was essentially silent, and did not scold him for the ever present animal pen he kept. Then only things she asked for was to be paid on time, for her Sabbath to be uninterrupted, and to be warned ahead of time if there was to be company. Luckily, he never had to concern her with the last item.
With a grunt he landed on his favorite chair, studying the unused love seat and the matching chair to his that sat across from him. It was a set that was meant to host, that was meant to have visitors and entertain. He had no idea why he bought them, they looked exactly as they did when he bought them three years ago. Untouched. And yet he couldn't help but imagine you sitting so prettily on the chair beside him. With every inhale he could smell the lingering scent of you on his jacket lapel. Clean, like plain soap and fresh air. A kiss of lavender oil that washed over him as you flipped your hair out of your face. He could see so clearly you laughing at his jokes, pouring out tea for you and him, rubbing Cyrils face and giggling at Alfie's gruffness. He could see you darning a small sock...
With a groan Alfie rubbed the visions out of his eyes like a dream. Because that's what it was isn't it? A stupid stupid dream. You were so... fresh and sweet and... frustrating and loud and obnoxious and such a know it all and... beautiful and kind and smart and...
Alfie huffed and got up to beg for sleep in his room, but his head on the pillow only ran through these reveries even more. You were much to young. 10 years his junior at least. You were pure and kind, and he was a bad man. It was an unequal yoke to carry. He had killed people in the war and at home. He had manipulated and schemed to get this. And you deserved more. You deserved a good man, a softer man. Someone who lived a quiet life and could give you a life above board, where you never had to look over your shoulder. Someone who was gentle and wouldn't argue with you, would just treat you like the Queen of Sheba. That is what you deserved. Not some old gangster with a bad back and dozens of men plotting his demise. With a sigh he resolved his promise. He would take care of you as long as you let him. Protect you from all the mess and nonsense of this job, and let you be the girl you are. And when it was time to let you go... he'd let you go. He could protect you and honor you ask long as you'd let him, but when the right man came along, he’d let you leave, knowing that you were safe. And with a sigh he rolled over, letting himself sleep for a few hours, his mind slipping off into a world where you maybe chose him, and made that other chair your favorite.
Across Camden you had just finished explaining to your mother that your very kind boss had just brought you home after a late night in the office. You had to assure her that you were safe and that he was very respectable, that no danger was present. Though the constant worrying and fussing irritated you sometimes, she was a good woman, a good mother, who just wanted the best for her oldest child.
Your mother and father got married incredibly young, and were forced to become acquainted with the world and it’s imbalances even earlier. Where you still got to be young and childless and educated, your mother at your age had already had you, and was working in the family tailors shop full time. The day you realized your mother could scarcely write her name, you heard your mother sobbing to your father late in the evening. It was then that you resolved to do your best in everything, making sure your mothers sacrifices weren’t in vain. And if it took a little white lie to keep her from having a heart attack? Well… it would be worth it.
“Ah I just don’t know darling, that seems awfully forward don’t you think? I don’t even remember your father being alone with me ever until our wedding night? Are we sure he is a good man? Do you have anything with you in your purse darling?”
“Mama I promise you everything is fine. I think his insistence in NOT letting me walk home is evidence enough yes?”
Your mother fiddled with the end of her long braid, a habit indicating her anxiety, a motion you know well, “Mmm I suppose… but darling I just worry. Young women now… very very independent and it is good but… oh I just don’t want you to be taken advantage of darling. Will you take a weapon or something with you?”
You laughed, and maybe you shouldn’t laugh at your own mother. But… oh it is your mother!!! The sweet woman that she was! Who refused to go to sleep without a candle, and forbid your father from cleaning his gun around her, and dropped many a plate due to loud noises… what does she know about a weapon!! “Mama what weapon?! Shall I bring a hand gun to work? Mama none of us know how to use a gun, except Papa and Eli! I’m ok I promise! My boss is not a dangerous man!”
From her place in the kitchen cabinet you heard her speak, “Oh hush! Of course not a gun!! You are absolutely ridiculous. No just take this pocket knife ok? Oh please don’t look so disturbed! It is in good condition and your father got it for me when he would have to work late at the tailors! Will just put it in your work bag please? For your poor mother? If you love me you’ll do it!”
With a laugh and a kiss on her soft cheek you affirmed her, “Of course mama, I could never refuse your gifts. Now now mama don’t be cross i am not teasing! Just promise me you don’t worry about me anymore! I am a grown woman and I am very capable of taking care of things. I learned from the best yeah?”
You mother nodded and kissed your cheek back, patting your head, “Yes yes. Well thank you my love. Now I’m off to bed, and you should too. Sleep well my darling.”
As you prepared for bed you felt a heaviness in the pit of your stomach. What would your mother say when she found out you had been lying to her? What if she did find out? What if she sees you with Alfie in the street? No no it wasn’t possible. Your mother hadn’t left this side of Camden in a decade, and she hates going farther than two blocks. No no it’s fine. You’re fine. And technically, it wasn’t a complete lie! No Alfie was honorable! And he was sweet! And he was handsome… and kind…. and smart… and rugged… if he weren’t a gangster you would’ve probably been matched with him… to be his wife.. No no! No what a childish fantasy. Those are the thoughts of a love struck child. He was your boss and that was it! So what if he was handsome? You were his secretary and that was it! And if he somehow decided to… promote you… you allowed a giggle to leave your chest as you blew out the lamp next to you. Tomorrow is another day.
Soon you developed a routine with Alfie, and the next few months seemed to fly like a wonderful dream. During the week you woke up, making yourself and Alfie lunch for day. The walk to the bakery was typically a lovely and brisk one, with the rising sun being your partner.
Upon arriving at the office, you make quick work of saying hello to the regular faces, and sneaking a sweet treat to Ollie. You set the kettle on, making sure a nice hot cup is ready for you and Alfie upon his arrival. A healthy amount of milk and sugar for you. Almost no milk for Alfie, but extra sugar. Then the daily schedule needs to be attended to. After working with Alfie for a few months you’ve developed a system of who gets what treatment. Some names get tea and a pleasant seat. Some get very bitter tea and must stand the entire time while they wait. Some get absolutely nothing, and are made to stand with their back to Alfie’s door, wondering how they will be summoned. Shot or call. During the meetings you take copious notes. Partially to make sure you don’t miss anything that Alfie will need to call upon later, partially to make visitors nervous about what is being recorded. You had become quite the necessary tool for Alfie. You added a certain glamour and class to the office. A sort of authority in the way you walked that continued to make weak men sweat in the office. Alfie’s favorite part of these meetings was having you re-read what was said, noticing that you added a certain something to keep the pressure on the other party. You were proving yourself an absolute natural.
It was during a day like this when Alfie came back from a ‘social visit’ with a big smile on his face, “Shalom treacle!! Get your coat darling we’re going out!”
You looked up from the calendar you were organizing, “Shalom Alfie, what do you mean we are going out? You have an appointment at 2, and you need to look at the numbers from last week and-“
“Hush woman, fuck the meeting I said we are going out.”
He grabbed your long coat from the hook, and held it open for you to put it on, “Now my love we have very special things today. You remember the gaming club Tommy mentioned? Well he found a place right? And today we are going to look at it and get a price for it.”
As you put your arms through the sleeves, and grabbed your scarf from Alfie you can’t help but question, “But what does this have to do with me? Why do you want me there?”
Alfie then finished his dressing of you by handing you your bag and offering you his arm, “What does this have to do with you? What does this have to do with you? Have I heard that right? Well my dear you put the fear of the devil himself into men like no other. Make them piss themselves. No no don’t laugh treacle it’s true! I need you to strike fear in the hearts of these sinners and help me find the holes. Think you can do it darling?”
The way he smiled at you… it made you want to do anything and everything for him. You smiled and nodded, “Let’s get on with it then.”
Alfie smiled even greater at the small smirk that played on your beautiful lips. He loved it when you worked with him like this. You walked arm and arm, laughing and carrying on like mischievous children ready to prank their teacher. You arrive at the possible location still laughing when you meet Thomas Shelby, and two other men, who you can only assume are the other Shelby brothers that you’ve heard so much about. Your eyes meet with Tommy’s, and you feel your stomach drop at the wink he gives you before walking toward you and Alfie. “Alfie, glad you could make it, “ he stoops down to grab your hand and kiss it, “Good to see you again darling. Let me introduce you to my brothers.”
You’re introduced to both Arthur and John. Your eyes soften at both their faces. John’s eyes show a soft mirth, a sweetness of a young man who still has so much to learn, much like Eli. Arthur… just looking at him your heart is heavy. You don’t know anything about him but his eyes look sad, and there is a weight to his shoulders that make you already feel quite sorry for him.
It takes about three flights of stairs to reach the top floor of the building. It's musty, clearly has not been used for some time, there are cobwebs and piles of dust over every counter, and the once white cloths covering the tables are now a dingy gray. Your wide eyes look up and around the space, clutching your notepad and pen to your chest, "What did this place used to be?"
Tommy answered, "It was once a bar, a little club run by some young idiot who thought he knew his way around this business. Couldn't make it past a year. Now.... it's been sitting vacant. Waiting for us."
You stray from Alfie's side, making notes of everything that would need to be done, "What all is included in the sale?"
"Everything. Tables, counters, fixtures, chairs. All for a reasonable price if you ask me."
"Mmmm Alfie will be the judge of that I think. Alfie, the wall paper will need to be redone yes? I think a richer color on the walls."
Alfie looked at Tommy and smiled, "Yes you're quite right treacle. A wine red yeah? Something indicative of the debauchery of such a hell hole."
"Mmm yes. Tommy, John, Arthur... how stable is this bar counter? How much would it cost to replace it?"
And so went the rest of the afternoon. You milling around the space making notes and sketches, and supplementing with the comments of the men in the room, who may or may not have been following you like ducklings. John and Arthur pulled curtains to let light in, and frankly John was more than willing to do what it took to gain a pleased smile from you. Once adequate notes had been taken, everyone sat around a table, waiting for the agent to come by and agree to a price.
During this part of the meeting, you tended to hold your tongue, only responding to when Alfie asked you to ‘refresh’ his memory on a particular point. It was these parts of the meetings that you could really see Alfie work his magic. Tommy Shelby and Alfie Solomons couldn’t be more different. Where Tommy was smooth and steady in tone, Alfie was a hurricane. A bear of a man who ripped things to shreds. Though on the surface it looked as though Alfie was merely destroying and rebuilding on a whim, there was a method. Study his opponent, memorize the motions and responses to his moves, and utilize it against them. Use previous information to flip and return on his enemy. It was a studied craft. Something you knew that had worked on for a long time. It was an art piece, and with every wink he threw your way, it was clear it was not just an act, but a piece of him. He was a gangster, through and through.
Soon enough, a deal was reached, and a plan was set in place for renovations to start the very next day. And in accordance with their 50/50 split, equal men of Shelby’s and Solomons’ men would be taking part in the work. All the men shook hands, you nodded and smiled at the Shelbys, quick to rebuff Tommy’s offer to take your hand again. Alfie seemed to be in a particularly good mood, and as you walked out of the building, he looked at you and said, “Oi... you hungry?"
You stopped and peered up in his eyes that were partially obscured by the wide brim of his hat, "Mr. Solomons are you asking me to dinner?"
He rolled his eyes, "Oh goodness... see this is why you can never be nice right? Because there you go... being cheeky with me... can never be a yes or no with you yeah? It's always got to be something with you innit? I mean - "
"Alfie Alfie! Yes I am hungry! Now take me to dinner and buy me a drink yeah?" You laughed at his blustering and grabbed his arm, making him meet your eyes, he huffed in response but couldn't keep the smile off his face.
"Buy you a drink yeah buy you a drink! Buy you a hobby so you stop harassing old men. I mean don't you have anything better to do than just be mean to your old boss?"
You laughed as you both walked away down the street, "What do you mean a hobby? My whole life now is just doing your bidding isn't it? And someone must keep you humble, all that business makes your head explode."
You let Alfie lead you to a clandestine pub a few blocks away, shrouded by family businesses and laughing people. As soon as Alfie walked in, the wait staff scurried around, clearing a table in the corner for both you and Alfie. Soon enough you had been given food and drink, and you felt increasingly more relaxed in your seat, facing away from the door opposite of Alfie. You allowed yourself to day dream in the comfortable silence you occupied. It didn't feel like dinner with your boss. It felt like dinner with a friend. Dinner with more than a friend. You imagined about what it would be like with Alfie all the time. To spend the afternoon with him walking through town, enjoying the sun and the conversation. To be taken to dinner with him, meet with friends and repeating faces. To be taken back home with him... sit in front of his fire... to fall asleep with him...
"Hello... treacle??" You're knocked out of your reverie with Alfie's bejeweled fingers waving in front of your face.
"Oh my gosh Alfie I'm so sorry! Yes whats wrong?"
Alfie laughed heartily head thrown back, "Goodness darling your mind must've been in fucking Timbuktu! I was asking if you wanted another drink?"
You felt the heat flush to your ears and cheeks and chuckled in your embarassment, "Oh my goodness I'm so embarrassed. No no I'm fine Alfie thank you. You go, I'll keep our table."
Alfie nodded and went to the bar to grab another glass of Rum. You proceeded to look around the cozy pub when a man slid into Alfie's seat. "Well hello beautiful. Mind if I sit here?"
Your eyes rushed to him. Young. Could be handsome if he cared to bathe and wash the stink of liquor off of him and change his shirt. His eyes were bloodshot, and he was sweaty. Stupid. Clearly so. "I'm sorry but you must be mistaking me for someone else. I'm here with my boss and you are sitting in his seat."
He sneered and winked at you, "Oh I saw the old man alright. Solomons yeah, I know him. I'm not too worried about the old man darling. Why don't you come sit with me yeah? I promise I am much more pleasant company."
The irritation was brewing in your stomach, but in truth you didn't want to cause a scene, "If you know Mr. Solomons then you either have a death wish or you are stupid. Please leave and get away from me. Mr. Solomons will not be happy to see you in his seat."
"You calling me stupid?"
"I am. You are clearly an imbecile, and a drunk one at that, now if you excuse me."
You proceeded to get up to find Alfie, when the man stood up and grabbed your arm, "You dumb bitch, how dare you get up. I'm trying to be nice to you!"
The table fell over with a clatter, and you began to scream, "Get off of me!!"
Before you could say another word Alfie came through wretching the man's hand off your arm, squeezing the man's neck."Now you listen to me right? You apologize to the young lady right now."
The young man's face began to slowly turn red, but he managed to splutter out, "Or what? You're gonna hit me with your cane?"
Alfie only seemed to squeeze tighter, and you saw something in Alfie's eyes that you've never seen before. It scared you. "No... no no... this is what's going to happen. If you don't apologize to the sweet young lady here. I will kill you. If you do apologize, I will not kill you. Now I think... I think that is a pretty generous offer yeah? And little man... I think you know who I am. And I think you know that killing little vermin like you doesn't bother me the least bit yeah? So what will it be? Quickly now!"
Without Alfie letting go, the slowly purpling face gasped out, "I'm sorry. I'm so... sorry ma'am."
You nodded back, feeling bile rise in your throat. Alfie dropped the man unceremoniously on the floor with a crack of the table. Without looking away from the gasping man he yelled to seemingly no one and everyone, "OUT!"
Every patron but you and the owner scrambled out with out a second thought. The bar owner locked the door and went to the back, and you felt your pulse quicken ringing in your ears. The sick in your stomach swirling. Alfie circled the still gasping man, who had bruises blooming on his throat, "Now... who taught you to grab women like that eh? Who said that was ok?"
The man didn't respond, and in anger Alfie kicked him right in the ribs. You screamed behind your hands as you heard the sickening thud and crack. Alfie grabbed the man by the collar and shoved him against the wall, 'WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? YOU THINK YOU CAN GRAB MY SECRETARY! YOU CAN GRAB MY GUEST?"
The young man began to sob, begging, and saying he was sorry. Alfie only continued, "Oh you crying now yeah? I thought you said you knew about me and weren't scared. That's why you thought you could harass my sweet secretary yeah? Well let me get you better acquainted."
With that, you saw the Mad Baker of Camden for the first time. Beating and beating and beating the man in front of you. Blood coating the knuckles of Alfie, as the young man's face proceeded to take the most brutal beating of it's life. You tried to stay quiet but it became too much, "ALFIE ENOUGH! It's enough Alfie!"
He paused, fist mid air as the man quivered underneath him. Alfie turned to you, "Enough? It's enough?? This man touched you without your permission and this is enough?!"
"You're going to kill him Alfie! Please enough!"
"I determine when it's enough!"
And he went back to punching him, growing more and more wrathful. And it became too much when the groans stopped, but the punches didn't. All you could do was scream at Alfie and weep. When Alfie finally finished and was heaving, you shoved a napkin in Alfie's hand and left without a word.
You began walking down the street, the tears streaming down your face. You didn't want anyone to see you crying, and the slowly setting sun aided. It was going to be an hour walk home. Your feet will hurt by the end of the night. But you didn't care. You needed the walk. You needed the air. You needed the scent of blood out of your nose and the sight of Alfie out of your mind. You had walked for who knows how long when you heard Alfie's voice yelling over the sound of a car, "Get in the car NOW!"
You looked over your shoulder, Alfie was yelling your name out the window of the car, with Ollie driving. You turned your head back and kept walking forward. You kept hearing Alfie curse, yelling your name, "Stop being a child and get in. DO AS I SAY NOW!"
"OR WHAT? YOU'LL BEAT ME WITHIN AN INCH OF MY LIFE??"
You tried to keep walking, but in a dangerous move the car sped and swerved in front of you, blocking your walk. You gasped as Alfie got out of the car, with a red stained, jeweled finger in your face, "Listen to me... you stop this act. You get in the car right now. You can be angry at me all you want but listen to me... you do not walk home alone. You work for me, you don't walk alone at night. Now. Get. In. The. Fucking. Car."
Tears were still streaming down your face, and you were so so angry with him, but you didn't have a choice. And your feet were hurting. With a huff you walk in the car, not letting him hold the door open for you. You sat in your seat, nodding at a very embarrassed looking Ollie. As soon as Alfie sat next to you, you stared out the window, looking at all the apartments whose occupants were definitely not listening in to your argument. You sat in silence for a few moments, but you couldn't hold it in any longer, "That was too far Alfie."
"I decide what is too far."
"You could have killed him."
"And the world would be better for it."
"You cannot treat people like that Alfie. He was just a child."
"A child who definitely would have hurt another woman in the future, he needed to learn a lesson."
You turned to him then, "Oh and that's how people are taught then yeah? Beating them to a bloody pulp any time they make you upset?"
He leaned in to your face, getting dangerously quiet, "This is my life darling. This is what you signed up for."
You scoffed, "I did not sign up to be a witness to you being a beast! This is not a way to live! This is heinous! You don't have a right to treat people this way!"
You didn't realize your volume, or the way your heart was racing. You were heaving, tears streaming down your face. His eyes... fixated on you. There was rage but you knew it wasn't at you, "I have every right darling. This is the life that has been given to me. Everything that I have, everything that I can give to you, Ollie, and the rest of the men in that distillery, is because of what I do. This world that we live in darling? You think that's fair? Nah... that ain't fair. If you want anything in this life... you need to take it. Grab it with both hands and never let go and never let anyone else take it. This is the way this world works beloved. This. This is what you signed up for. Now either grow up... or don't come back to the office."
You breath stopped. You didn't even consider that option. You felt more tears fall as you turn to face the window again. The rest of the car ride was in agonizing silence. You hated every minute. Alfie made no noise except a huff. After an infinity, you finally reached your home before you could move Alfie put his hand out, "Don't get up yet."
He grumbled as he got out of the car, looked around at both ends of the street, and then went to your door, opening it and helping you out. You refused to meet his eyes but you took his hand. You also let him walk you to the door, and as you reached for the door, you hear him cough and say, "I want you back at the office treacle alright? Course I do. But you really need to decide whether you can handle this. I hate seeing you upset I do darling. But this is who I am. This is the business. Now you need to decide if you can do it. Alright?"
You nodded your head limply. He just patted your head, feeling sick in his stomach, "Alright then. I'll know your answer if I don't see you tomorrow. Good night sweet heart."
"Goodnight Alfie." You whispered, turning your back quickly to run upstairs. Alfie would drive home in complete silence that night, agonizing about what would happen.
You ran past your whole family gathered around mending the laundry in the sitting room. You refused to tell you mother what happened, and didn't let Eli in your room. When your younger sister asked you what was wrong, you just cried in her chubby baby arms, while she patted your head with her child palms. You cried in your pillow, reliving the vision you saw, wondering what to do. You didn't want to see that kind of violence, you had never seen anything like that. But you loved this job. You loved your freedom. You loved spending time in the office, laughing with Alfie and meeting new people. You tossed and turned all night, but sleep would not take you. It was well past midnight when you finally felt the exhaustion of the day creep its' fingers over your eyes.
And then you smelled the smoke.
