i think i like aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe so much because ari was the only 15-16 year old character that actually acted like he was 15-16. like he was confused and uncomfortable with himself he didn't feel like he was a real person yet his thoughts weren't complex but they were surprisingly deep he wasn't sure when he was supposed to start kissing people or drinking alcohol or anything he loved his parents but didn't know how to talk to them he was so sixteen years old and it felt so honest and can you tell how much i love this book

I just got home from my first viewing of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and I just have one word: Beautiful. Everything about it was beautiful. The cinematography, the costumes, the acting, the music, just everything. It’s everything a book adaptation should be. Honestly as much as I ADORE RWRB I think I liked Aristotle and Dante more as an adaptation. As films they cannot be compared because they are so different and each amazing in their own ways but as book adaptations Aristotle and Dante win hands DOWN. I really hope that we get a Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World movie. Cause this was just GORGEOUS. I cried. Also Max and Reese embodied Ari and Dante PERFECTLY. Reese is EXACTLY how I pictured Dante. Just absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to see it again in 12 hours 😅

I can't handle this movie.
The thing about the book that absolutely blew me away was how there was *something* that the reader wasn't clued into even with Ari's 1st POV until the "stop running from yourself" conversation and we got to have the queer realization WITH him.
The movie FLAWLESSLY pulled off that same feeling.
As much as I adore RWRB, this is my new gold standard for book-to-film adaptations.
Period. Ever.
Across any genre.

RWRB (both book and movie) deserve all the love and hype but I’m begging y’all to PLEASE show the same hype for Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe when it comes out on September 9th!!
If you haven’t read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s a BEAUTIFUL young adult queer coming of age book that focus a lot of the struggles of finding yourself, understanding your sexuality and becoming comfortable with it. It’s probably my favorite book and it helped me better understand myself and my own identity.
