Losing interest in doing the things you love
It's not talked about enough. Not being able to do all those hobbies you did growing up as a child. Painting, drawing, gaming, writing, making edits...Things you used to do on a daily basis. Now you only do them once a month if you're lucky to find time.
Istg growing up has its pros but the cons. The cons are what hit me in the face with a brick. I'm old enough to earn money now to buy art material and games which I do. I do it because that part of my personality is still there. In my mind, I am still a gamer, I am still an artist, I am still the person I think i am. But in reality my gaming pc has become a work pc. My paintbrush has become a makeup brush. My pencil has become eyeliner. The books I used to read has turned into my phone. I go to bed thinking about all the work I have to get done. When I was young I went to bed thinking about all the wonderful things I did that day and what dreams I would have. Do I even have time dream now? All my ambitions and goals have become fears of failure. My dreams have become nightmares if I even get enough sleep to dream.
Growing up is so beautiful yet so painful. I remember the days I would wake up early just to have extra time to play games and I would still up till 4am talking about random things while gaming. My entire days used to be filled with things I love to do, not things I have to do. Don't get me wrong, I do love college and love the path I've paved for myself. However thinking about the things I had to give up to get here makes my heart throb. I haven't drawn anything in 4 months. Art supplies I bought haven't even been open yet. I game for less than an hour everyday and that's only genshin impact. What happened to the hours I spent on Fortnite trying to get that W or messing around with friends? What happened to the hours spent on Call of duty trying to come out first or getting epic clips? What happened to spending hours on Ark trying to tame dinosaurs or build a sick base? What happened to spending all day drawing or painting while listening to music or binge watching shows?
It's sad how fast life changes before you even know it. How you change without even realizing it. From having a whole group of friends I would talk to on a daily basis to having just 1 friend because there's no time to talk to other people. I feel guilty, I really do but what can I do about it. I try, I really try my best. My time management isn't bad at all. But this life of being a college student and having family responsibilities is so time consuming that there isn't time to do the things I used to love. Now there's new things I love to do like spending time with the kids in my family, watching anime, reading manhwas, experimenting with makeup, living the best college life I can and enjoying my work.
But thinking about what I used to love is like a piece of my soul is missing. My life hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows, but those things got me through the dark times. Instead of expressing my burning emotions on a piece of paper or relieving stress on a game, I now keep it in and distract myself to forget about the emotions.
Growing up is losing that piece of you while gaining another piece that's completely different. It doesn't quite fit the same but it somewhat completes you. However there are gaps that just can't be filled or replaced no matter what.

Ok so here's what I think what games clone high charecters would play.
Abe: pretty average taste. Dosent own a gaming system but will play games at friends houses, laughs at how bad he is.
Gandhi: definitely enjoys weirder games with a sense of humor. I imagine he'd probably recommend people games like Conker's Bad Fur Day or Earthworm Jim.
JFK: likes to play adventure games occasionally, but mostly sticks to sports games.
Joan of Ark: Enjoys more artsy games. I can see her being really into Metal Gear Solid honestly. She'll probably chew your ear off about the messages and themes of RPGS. Hates how most of the gaming community dosen't understand that most games were always "political" or "woke"
Cleopatra: isn't into video games but always listens to her partners talk about them.
Topher Bus: loves cartoony video games with deep lore. Kirby, Sonic, Mario (but mostly the RPGS) Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, ETC. will lecture anybody who even remotely cares about it. Will consider it a disgrace if you call them "kids games" and will talk about how messed up certain aspects of the games can get.
Confucius: Fortnite gamer all the way babeyyy. Spends most of his rich parents money on cosmetics.
Harriet Tubman: plays "relaxing" games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Harvest Moon, or the Sims but in actuality stresses her out.
Frida Kahlo: plays mostly FPS games, thinks that getting on to Call of Duty is the most relaxing thing ever but she always plays with Mike off. Also is really into Halo and Doom.
Principal Scudworth: only references video games to relate to the clones, but played Mario Kart 64, Mario Party 1-3 and Goldeneye 007 in his frat boy days.
Candide Sampson: considers Video Games a waste of time, same with any peice of entertainment

cecily and rowan frantically trying to get him to take it down. the fandom in flames.
it is marked in history as the only content from the ark in all of the time they took off between albums.

"Palworld critics are just corporate bootlickers for Nintendo"
Nobody is fucking defending Nintendo's property rights.
The point is that the company behind Palworld not only has shown support of generative AI and their previous titles have been a Frankenshit monster of other popular games.
Craftopia used bought assets which is fine in the indie game scene so long as the rights to those assets allow commercial use, but that shows that the studio likely doesn't have the manpower and creative power to truly make their own. Another game I enjoy, Garden Paws, was made by a dev studio of two people and a musician. It's a decently large game based off Animal Crossing, but manages to still be enjoyable and stand on it's own.
All art is derivative, but there's a difference between taking inspiration from something, and straight up trying to pull directly from it for personal gain.
WoW and FFxiv are both tab-target mixed fantasy MMORPGs, but WoW is not FFxiv and FFxiv is not WoW, and while FFxiv was inspired by elements of WoW and other MMORPGs, the passion and commitment the dev team has put into this game has allowed it to stand on its own and be as successful as it is.
Pokemon spawned an entire subgenre of monster collecting, and each individual franchise has made it's own spin on things, which is how some of them have survived for two decades or more. Palworld is- as someone on Twitter put it- "creatively bankrupt" and exists as "profits over passion".
There are some monster designs- like that Serperior looking thing, or the one with Galarian Meowth's -exact- face, or the belt and arms on the Cinderace-but-grass-type that are -directly- pulled from Pokemon. So... it's either a case of generative AI which the devs are being dishonest about (as Steam requires studios to disclose AI use), or their artist simply doesn't care about plagiarism (and, miss me with the 'but parody' business, the game isn't close enough to actual Pokemon to be a true parody, it's, again, a Frankenshit Monster of Pokemon, ARK, and the currently popular Blizz/Fortnite/etc art style).
If this game actually tried to be its own thing, had its own artstyle, it could truly be something of it's own, but the game and the studio's other titles are really nothing but a "lets see how many popular things we can capitalize on to make a profit". AI use or not, it's kind of disturbing that such a game can get as many sales as it did.
Like it pisses me off, personally, but I'm not terribly worried about it because if the devs are this devoid of any genuine love for their IPs (and they did kinda dump Craftopia to focus on this) it's likely going to fall to the wayside and be relegated to a FotM title when they can't push enough new content to keep it interesting.

I decided to buy Palworld during the current Steam sale because it feels like it could vanish under a pile of lawsuits at any second and I wanted to get my licks in before it goes.
It's... it's ARK: Survival Evolved. It just is. Only you play as a knockoff Fortnite character instead of a greasy pooping caveman and your dinosaurs have become Pokemon. The world itself is generally realistic (if colorful) and does not match the cartoony individuals at all. The actual gameplay is, well, it's ARK, but your Pokemon (sorry, 'Pals') are way more helpful than any stupid dinosaurs and will actually do things on their own and keep themselves alive. That's nice.
I will freely admit that the 'Pals' are just super cute and generally adorable to look at (when they're not stuck on scenery). They have something there. I hope it gets better!
It's pretty janky and basic to play - jumping feels bad, climbing animations trigger at stupid times, parasailing looks kind of silly, you can tell they cared way more about animating the 'Pals' than about animating the human characters - and, while I'm definitely having a certain level of fun with it, I just keep on being baffled that it still exists.
On the other hand, Dumud is my precious sweetie and I refuse to go anywhere without him galumphing along beside me being a big dumb squelchy baby.
