Episode #322
Tumblr media
I, (Annoyed Grunt)-Bot Season 15, Episode 9 | January 11, 2004 This episode is the one where they do battle bots. But also they do cats getting killed over and over. Snowball II gets toast and they keep replacing her, and then they finally wind up with a cat that looks exactly like Snowball II so they just call her Snowball II and make a meta joke about the Armin Tanzarian episode. I saw some thing, I think it was a screenshot from Tapped Out, where they showed Snowball II, and it had a caption that said “get it? the first cat was white” and I never ever ever even thought about that for a second. Like, I just saw the show when I was little and never questioned it and continued not questioning. It’s like Arnie Pye with Arnie in the Sky, or the fact that Santa’s Little Helper is a funny name because it’s a typical name a track-racing dog would have. The first time I saw first episode of The Simpsons was Christmas 1989. I would have been six years old. Both of these jokes were deployed back then and I just accepted them as simple facts. Never took the time to re-evaluate either of those details until fairly recently. Huh. Anyway, this episode sucks. I saw that I had previously ranked this episode on IMDB. I gave it a 4 out of 10.

Clone High: Sleep of Faith: La Rue D'Awakening Season 1, Episode 5 | November 24, 2002 This episode also does Battle Bots, but it’s a brief thing with the butler guy and the scantron reading robot. I like Clone High! There’s some fantasticly funny gags. I remember having a distaste for it the first time I saw it on MTV, but there really is very funny writing. It’s got that Canadian stink on it, I guess. You just gotta see through it to get to the good stuff. The part where Ghandi realizes his trucker friend was a ghost and then it flashes back to moments in the show but from an outsider’s perspective (him sitting alone at a lunch counter, talking to himself, him pouring gasoline onto the ground as if he were gassing up an invisible truck, him floating in midair seated at truck level over the freeway) is really fucking funny. Best joke ever in the world. And also the theme song is good. It’s too bad I watched some crappy Youtube copy that cuts it off. That’s what I get for irresponsibly lending the DVD out to somebody who historically loses every DVD I give them, and taking the torrent site I use for granted (IT’S DOWN).

Episode #13
uhhh here’s that post you ordered lol

Some Enchanted Evening Season 1 - Episode 13 | May 13, 1990 Ah yes, the first episode of the Simpsons. Aren’t I smart for knowing this one was meant to be the first ep?? In this one Bart and Lisa get a babysitter who turns out is actually a BANDIT! voiced by penny marshall RIP. She was the last female film director living and now there are none ;_; There are continuity things to take note of! Marvin Monroe is seen here as a radio host and I guess his appearance here makes a little more sense if it comes before the family therapy scene from episode 4 or whatever it was. Homer is seen sorting bits of radioactive materials on an assembly line type thing like he is in the earliest episodes. Arnie Pye is on the radio and he actually calls his traffic-copter segment “Pye in the Sky;” later it would become “Arnie in the Sky” which is a hilarious gag I didn’t realize until some dumbass podcast I listen to pointed it out. The “HOMER” ball returns though, which might be a coincidence (maybe Homer always names his balls [omg, lol]). When I was at my most mentally ill I actually created an alternate “back-up” set of Simpsons episodes but put them in production order instead of airdate order. I guess because I thought it would be interesting to try and watch all of these in production order? I still find myself making inane lists and stopping myself before I get too deep, except I guess not because this project is basically the result of that behavior so nevermind.

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo: "The Babysitter from Beyond" Season 1 - Episode 6 | October 15, 1988 Look I’m gonna level with ya, I don’t have a lot to say about this. I found a babysitter cartoon. It has young scooby doo in it. This show wasn’t too bad. I like the animation a lot and the writing isn’t bad. It’s just not that funny. I know it’s weird to say this shit about a kids show, but this is one of the few kids shows from this era that doesn’t seem completely phoned in. I watched about half of this. TOO LONG! If these were 11 minutes they’d be perfect, just what i wanted.
