IT’S PRIDE MONTH
A friendly reminder that if someone is Bi and happens to be in a relationship with the opposite gender...that doesn’t erase the fact that they’re still Bi.
Respect Bisexual, respect pansexual, respect asexuals, respect aromantics, respect genderfluid, respect trans-men/women, respect all.

Hey given its Pride Month, shout out to all aces and aros that didn't have a single clue they were ace and/or aro until they were in their twenties or older.
You're all valid.
Figuring this shit out is hard. I'm still figuring out my gender out. I'm so ace and a hopeless romantic I have no idea if I'm aro or not.
Don't worry about guessing wrong. Don't worry about changing your mind. It happens! Not everyone's gender and sexuality is obvious to the self. Sometimes the answer is obvious and sometimes you got to go on a quest for self discovery.
There's nothing wrong with taking your time to work yourself out.
Also, there's nothing wrong with deciding you don't like labels and would really rather just be acknowledged as not straight.

Where y'all get your white rings?
I got my ace ring from Etsy but that shit supports Isr@el so we ain't doing that again, and I cannot find a good looking white ring anywhere that isn't silicone or ceramic
like I want something that looks a lil nicer than that but I can't find anything
which tbh what I really want is one of those rings that says "till death" as a spite for amatonormativity and belief that marriage is a requirement for happiness or whatever, and people's favourite aphobic argument of "you just haven't found the right person yet" like no bitch we aromantic till death
but I can't find one ಠ︵ಠ

shoutout to all the asexuals/aromantics who can’t for the life of them figure out if they have a crush or not because how do you figure out if you have one when nearly every starting parameter for questioning it has been made from a non-ace/allo point of view

Me and a friend were discussing which genders/sexualities are which fruits/vegetables so here's the list so far and why:
Asexuals - black grapes (matches the flag)
Aromantics - green grapes (matches the flag)
Agenders - red grapes (so acearo agenders can call themselves triple A batteries A.K.A grapes)
Lesbians - grapefruits (obvious)
Gays - Bananas (obvious)
Bisexuals - Plums (bi vibes I guess?)
Pansexuals - fruitcakes (they love all the fruits)
Transfem - blueberries (they are known to increase estrogen levels)
Transmasc - oranges (can help boost testosterone)
Non-binary - pineapples (non binary vibes)
Genderfluid - smoothies (fluid made of the gender fruits)
Queer/questioning - pumpkin (actually a fruit, but seems to be somewhere in the middle)
In the closet - tomato (often mistaken for a vegetable but is a fruit)
Straight - potato (it's not a fruit)
Cisgender female - cucumber (idk, the vibes I guess?
Cisgender male - eggplant (obvious)
Intersex - cabbage (intersex vibes)
Tell me if we missed any, we'll happily take suggestions

thinkin about absence
...was gonna put the rest in the tags but fuck it, have a read more like it's 2014
yeah. thinkin abt absence.
as in, "the absence of–"
"devoid of–"
"a–"
I hate defining something by what it lacks. it becomes deficient by nature. it becomes perpetually, intrinsically incomplete.
nothing is intrinsically incomplete.
take mars. mars lacks liquid water* and an oxygen-rich atmosphere. it does, however, have both water ice and water vapour, as well as an atmosphere rich in carbon dioxide. it also has two moons, several volcanoes, seasons, and even weather. it has a past, and a present, and a future. it is, without qualification or limitation. and yet we still define it by what it lacks, because what it lacks happens to be the things that matter most to humans on earth.
should this matter to mars? no. mars is a planet, and this is a metaphor. I really hope I don't need to explain to you that this is a metaphor.
anyway, the thing about defining yourself by what you lack or how you differ from those around you is that it frames every experience within that absence, leaving no room for anything else to fill the space. it blinds you to what exists beyond the absence, to what is. to use another hamfisted metaphor, a bagel is more than just the hole in its centre.
...actually, scratch that. I was trying to make a point but then I googled whether there's such a thing as a bagel without a hole and found the truest, most personally resonant statement I've ever read, and it's in an essay about bagels on a website called myrecipes.com, because of course true self-actualization would be found on a recipe website in an essay about bagels.
anyway, the line is:
The fact is, of course, that the bagel’s hole is not the absence of bagel, but rather its very essence. To have “more bagel,” as it were, at the center of a bagel, would really mean having less of a bagel.
that's it. that's literally it. the bagel isn't whole despite the hole, it's whole because of it. it isn't an absence, it's an essence.
idk, maybe bagels aren't the best metaphor for aromanticism, which is what this entire post has been about all along (surprise!). maybe I should've stuck to mars. maybe none of this makes any sense at all. in any case, the point I was originally trying to make is that absence, like reality, is subjective. the only reason aromantics are considered to be lacking love is because someone decided to compare us to alloromantics, and the only reason the bagel is considered to be lacking a centre is because someone decided to compare it to a bialy. in truth, it's the comparison that lacks (in this case, nuance regarding the definition of love/a centre), not us (in this case, me/the bagel). that's all I was trying to say.
