a general psa that “reminding” loveless aromantics that love doesn’t have to be romantic is just rude and borderline disrespectful. trust me, they know. they probably understand the connotations of love better than you too. loveless aros are the ones who know their identity and comfort levels best so how about y’all stop getting up in arms whenever they challenge how you think people are supposed to interpret love.

The response to "ace people are just virgins who can't get laid!" Shouldn't be "ace people can still have sex!" but instead " being a virgin isn't a bad thing."
The response to "aro people are just heartless freaks!" Shouldn't be "aro people can still feel love!" And instead be "not feeling love or other emotions doesn't make you a bad person."
Instead of pushing the idea that aspec people can be "normal like allos" we should instead be trying to normalize aspec experiences. Yes aspec people can be normal because aspec identities are normal. Some aros fall in love. some aces have sex. but they should not be the only valid aspec experiences. We should not use these experiences to make the aspec identity more palatable to amatonormativity and allos.

sure "romantic" isn't the only type of love but also "love" isn't the only type of positive feeling. So maybe stop insisting everyone needs love to be happy and accept that loveless ppl exist? Pretty please?

As valentine's is two weeks away, are we all in agreement that we'll make aromantic trending for a 3rd year in a row?

every aromantic person who has to witness someone say “there is no non-romantic explanation for these characters” should be financially compensated
EDIT: if i see another one of you fuckers arguing “but sometimes they ARE just super romantic” i’m tired of being nice. i’m just gonna let you know that 1. amanormativity has rotted your fucking brain and 2. it’s people like you that are the reason why aros are suffering. other aros you are not absolved of this. just fucking listen to us for once and stop denying our experiences and pleas.

Reminder that it's not your fault if someone gets a crush on you. It's not your fault that they like you like that. Especially if you don't like them back, are aromantic, asexual, or any other reason- even if you don't have a reason!
You aren't in the wrong for not liking them back
I promise

saw someone on here the other day say that we don’t need aromantic and asexual representation in media because that’s a “sanitized” identity like BITCH WHAT????? IF YOU CAN ONLY SEE ASPEC PEOPLE AS CHILDREN THAT IS A YOU PROBLEM.

" aro and ace people are lgbt+ as long as they're not cishet " is so stupid because like. aro/ace people can be part of the community without having to have another lgbtq+ identity if a cishet aro or cishet ace person wants to be considered queer they can?? and also if you think "aro/ace people arent opressed!!!" please. just shut up. in a society where we are literally told we need a partner to be happy, that we "just havent found the right person", that basically says love is what makes us human, that sex is what makes us human, people saying they can "fix us" or saying were broken just because we dont want romance or we dont want to fuck people??? aro/ace people are definitely othered from the "normal people"

Aspec men deserve much more respect and recognition in the aspec community than they receive. They often face a different form of aphobia specific to them ("men are naturally sexual they can't be ace" "all men are unromantic that's not unique") this rhetoric is spouted by many, even members of our own community and I hope for a day where that is no longer the case. As an ace and demiro woman (demigirl but that's beside the point) I want to encourage folks to take the time to give the aspec men in their lives support and to the aspec men reading, you are who you say you are no matter what people say and you deserve the world. I'm sorry for the ways in which toxic masculinity has harmed you. You are a valued member of the aspec community and the queer community as a whole. No ace or aro person is broken and neither are you. I'm sorry if anyone has ever told you otherwise.

i saw a post awhile back saying people don’t want queer representation they want queer romance, and that really put words to how i feeling about shipping culture
like wednesday and enid stood in the same room together, didn’t even like each other , and people were screaming at the top of their lungs “MARRIAGE!!”
i think that’s fundamentally why we get so little representation of the trans community and the aro and ace spectrums, i still have yet to hear the word Aromantic on film or tv (i know there’s a tv show rn in i think japan that features a aroace lead i haven’t watched it yet) i’ve seen clips of shows here and there that use the word asexual so that’s good but from what i understand they’re alloace representation which still allows the characters to participate in romance (someone correct me if there’s aroace rep)
idk it’s all just exhausting
i really wish there was a stronger push for like queer people just existing in tv and film instead of the only option being romantic relationships
