They look beautiful because of the way they treat people, the way they talk about things, the way they care about their loved ones, the way they appreciate art, the way they share their stories and the way they listen to yours. They look beautiful because of the things they do, the songs they listen to, the movies they watch, the books they read and most importantly because of the things they say.

Art Witch

As an art witch I weave creativity with my hands. Paint with my breath upon the canvas that is my life. I mold with clay to fashion dreams and desires to reality. I sketch upon the stars my hopes and wishes. Being an art witch is to live with creativity as your purpose. You crave creation in all manners of creative expression. Whether it is through hands, feet, or voice. Creation is your very being. It is the water you drink, the earth you dance upon, the air you breathe. The fire you cradle. The essence of your spirit.

Art is your expression of self.

Art is your Magick.

And through art reality is life.

Along the way I forgot myself. And adventured into the unknown. I sought a secret I already had and sought to recreate it. But the lesson I had to learn was this. There was no hidden message in the secret already mine. I simply had to lose myself to find what I already had.

Real art has to be achievable nowadays, right? Art that isn’t dependent on how many likes or shares a post gets. Art that isn’t simply manufactured for the masses. Art without the questions in the back of our minds:

How many likes will this get? How many comments? Will this go viral? Can I monetize this?

I understand that this is how art gets around now, and artists need to make money to live and continue making art. But following trends, sucking your soul out of it to make it more digestible.

It’s killing us, right?

It’s churning out inauthentic, perfectly marketable, perfectly forgettable things that make a few dollars in the short term, but in five, ten, a hundred years, no one will remember it— and that is so immeasurably sad to me.

something i said to my friends about the hbo max and warner bros thing going on:

animation isnt some lifeless thing that can just be tossed aside. living breathing people make those shows. people put hours and hours and hours into them. people pull all nighters, people take care of themselves less, people put themselves into those shows and penny pinching motherfuckers see animation as nothing, like itll always be for little kids and be inferior. i hate how animation, art in general, is seen as nothing. art is EVERYTHING. if there was no art, the world will crumble, drawing and animation is just one aspect of art. there is LITERALLY art fucking EVERYWHERE and i am tired of people acting like art doesnt FUCKING MEAN ANYTHING.
