This goober has certainly come a long way
What with the current trend of looking back at how one's grown as an artist, I thought I'd look more in depth and show through one ocs designs and pieces just how much one can learn over time!! I still have a long way to go but yeah!

I was feeling the blues and highly unmotivated today. So, I decided to print my art to see what it would look like in the real world. I need a new printer, but I like looking at them! It's encouraging to see my journey in front of me.
Despite being a printer fail, I like the color!
These ones are my favorite! I'm feeling the motivation return! Or maybe it's just the coffee kicking in... I did these! Me! I still can't believe I'm fulfilling a childhood dream!

Ten years ago I started on a painting of my favorite fictional character, Katara. I still love love love avatar, but it was definitely a staple of my childhood.
(Also I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I got that comic book. TEN YEARS. Aaaaah I feel ancient)

When I was 13 years old, my junior high school paused classes and held little seminars for a couple weeks, and students had to pick one to attend. I picked one simply titled "Graphic Novels," because I was deep in my manga obsession at the time.
The goal was to create a simple illustrated story/comic over the course of the seminar. So, me being me, I bit off way more than I could chew. I made a story about an ocean filled with monsters and a girl who needs to relight a darkened lighthouse and lots of boats and LOTS of the color blue. I wrote an 'epic' rhymed poem and pasted it all into a premade book and drew a bunch of stuff around it - but never properly finished the illustrations and left it abandoned.
Over the years, I completely forgot about it.
And then my dad found it a few years ago in a box and was like "Hey, do you remember this?" And I did. And I realized I had unwittingly gone back and recycled the same ideas into Phantomarine - because both stories contain all the same things that I love.
Sure, sometimes you aren't quite ready to make something, but you should still try. And if you're not quite ready, who cares? You'll be ready someday, and there's no getting to 'someday' without trying 👍

My queen, Luka 💗
I've been doing digital art for around 2 years now, and I've enjoyed drawing Luka the most! I wanted to track my progress throughout the journey, so here's Luka from the past 2 years, and Luka now ☺

Leaving behind my old style guides and drawing new ones!
Roughing out a new Hinata in sketches ⬇️
I've been learning a new face mapping technique and sketching like mad to get my faces to a place where they look good both far away and close up for ultimate flexibility in the sorts of paintings I can create.
