Tumblr media
Cara is a new website similar to Artstation, but they take a hard stance against AI generated art and do not allow it to be uploaded. I’ve liked it so far and have been uploading my favorite pieces there and will continue to do so - nice option for a portfolio.
Tumblr media
Inkblot is also a nice option, another site ran by artists trying to include features that are great - commissions tab and gallery separation is nice. It loads a bit slow sometimes but they are constantly improving how the website works. I also feel like inkblot has a more inclusive community of artists of all levels, so that is nice to see.
I feel like both of these sites could be great in the future for artists. Check them out if they interest you! And of course, if you give me a follow, I’ll likely follow you back and keep an eye on your work. I always try to offer positive commentary on who I follow on these two sites. Artists have to support each other, after all!

10 Websites for Artists To Post To
Alright so I have been seeing comments a plenty along the lines of "we need a new art site" or "artists need to build their own site" and such and fourth, but there are plenty of existing alternatives clearly to consider, especially with the crashing and burning of buzzly slowly, I dont want aritsts to think there aren't anywhere to post art.
In this list I made off the top of my head I will be sure to list if they allow adult content or not. Please note that I have used all of these, but few I have not used long enough to know everything about them.
ADULT CONTENT ALLOWED:
1. Newgrounds: Adult content? Yes, and it has a filtering system with various levels. Your feed is in chronological order, and no need to dig through settings to set what you do and dont want to see as when you search you can filter out adult, or even filter out only sfw results. https://www.newgrounds.com/
2. Deviantart: Adult content? Nudity and s xual themes are allowed, but I still believe they do not allow uncensored s xual activity still. Shows your following feed in chronological order by default, has groups for sharing art to to gain exposure, and allows for seperate galleries meant for different purposes. https://www.deviantart.com/
3. Itaku.ee: adult content? yes. Fairly new site. Has custom galleries and has your following feed in chronological order. https://itaku.ee/
4.Piczel.tv: adult content? Yes. And is also a streaming platform, and shows your following feed in chronological order. You can also make seperated galleries for your artwork. https://piczel.tv/streams
5.Artfol: adult content? yes. No custom galleries and is currently only available via mobile. https://artfol.co/
6. Pixiv: Adult content? yes. Following feed is in chronological order.
7. Pillowfort: https://www.pillowfort.social/. Adult content? Yes. Shows your feed in chronological order. I believe it still however requires a key
8. Furaffinity.net: Allows adult content? yes. Also allows for custom galleries and gif profile pictures. Your following feed is in chronological order and the discover new page peddles artists of all follower counts. https://www.furaffinity.net/
9. inkbunny: allows adult content? yes. https://inkbunny.net/
10. Artstation: allows adult content? no. This is more a website for a professional portfolio if you're looking for a job/to showcase your artist portfolio and is not a social media and does not allow adult content.

Was trying to search for something else and came across this article instead. Interesting article on the history of art websites and it kind of captures both the kind of magic energy of dA that no longer exists and my frustration with the set of social media sites that currently have all the community/people/set of eyeballs/content.
This piece was written in earlyish 2019 and so what is noticeably missing from the story is both the mass exodus of artists to Twitter AND the Twitter implosion (not like anyone could have predicted that Twitter would implode due to the actions of literally one (1) guy).
I've recently been thinking about the benefits and drawbacks of dA vs. Tumblr for art (will make a separate post on this) and also just generally the (basically) inverse relationship between the "spread" that art and other content has on a site (so called "engagement" but only measured in views/reblogs/shares/likes) and the quality of individual interactions you get. In particular, the thing that seems to be driving this trade-off is the scale of communities. So it was good to see that theme pop up here.

hot artists don't gatekeep
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

companies underestimate how much locking their content behind needing an account will just make me go do something else. oh your website wants me to make an account to view this content? oh your website doesn't show media to logged-out users? okay. i didn't actually want to see it that bad. yeah. bye ✌️

Do you know about my free web based sketch app that rotates random pose references? 🤔
Tumblr media
It's called AdorkaStock Sketch and you can access it on desktop or mobile. It will adjust to fit your screen! On mobile you can scroll down to see the options.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are currently just over 2,000 poses in rotation with more coming. You can change the timer, skip poses, sort with filters, or try predefined class modes.
The site is completely free and thanks to my Patrons I was recently able to remove third-party ads! If you turn off your ad blockers while using the site you will only see my own ads.
You can also make a free account which will allow you to collect a favorites list and set sketching goals.
Please check it out and use it as often as you need to for pose browsing, gesture warm ups, or long drawing sessions (just hit pause on any pose!) Hope it's super useful for you. Happy drawing! 🎨✨
