This is one of my all-time favorite images, which I called simply "Hawaiian Petroglyphs". I photographed this one over 20 years ago while I was still shooting on Fujichrome Velvia film. These petroglyphs are just about always buried under 10-20 feet of sand which probably explains why they are in such good condition. It takes a huge west swell, the likes of an Eddie Aikau swell to remove all the sand and even then, it only remains uncovered for a week or so before being covered back up again for another ten years.
