I started a new sketchbook a few months ago, and I’ve been spending a lot of time in it recently. Like every time I go to a cafe to do work, I end up drawing in it, and I couldn’t figure out why I kept feeling like I needed to even though I have “actual” work I need to get done most days.
Then I had this really weird revelation that it was because I was just really enjoying the drawing process. It’s been so long since I’ve worked on anything that wasn’t a freelance thing or something made to be marketed and profited off of, that I legitimately forgot that I got into art because it makes me happy to do it sometimes.
So yeah. Capitalism is a soul-sucking nightmare and needs to be destroyed probably.
Not quite ready for Doom Patrol to end so I took a break and decided to make some fanart. Cliff and Larry turned out pretty good but Jane and Rita are not my proudest moment.
I impulsively bought myself some watercolor brush pens and they're so good for sketching. I have a hard time loosening up and sketching for fun--I try to make everything a finished drawing--and these markers have helped me be more spontaneous.
I posted progress pictures of this a while back, but I want to post a picture of just the final, since tumblr would hide this and most of the images. I feel like a lot of people might not have actually seen this if they were swiftly scrolling by.
This is a picture of my 34th Sketchbook (SK34), when she was brand new. I finished and shelved her on Feb.21/22, and she now looks more weather beaten than this. The cover features my character Tristan with a rainbow plume/ribbon come out of his helmet.
Would anyone like a side by side picture of what she looks like now?

I’ve been working in my sketchbook a lot lately and playing with different styles. I’m not sure what to call this style, is it still abstract? Perhaps, because it is definitely not to scale or correct proportions! Just simple quick sketches with my Arteza watercolor pens.

I'm trying to understand better landscapes in digital painting since they just terrifies me. i thought the best way to fix the problem was to learn better in favorite traditional medium (gouaches) where I feel more comfortable 💚 hope it helps me to push further! This is a video tutorial I made from @aishaaaaah youtube channel ❤️ I think I learned a lot! ❤️ Using @artezaofficial gouaches (I used more colors than the tutorial: aegean blue, viridian green and deep green - of course black and white) The sketchbook is very pink (I love it!) from @paulrubensart . . Little tip! Do you know that dollar store brushes with stiffy hair? They're so good to make foliage! Also ruined brushes make spectacular leaves textures ❤️ . . . #gouache #landscape #moonlight #artist #arttutorial #prettyart #traditionalart #gouacheart #sketchbook #artezagouache #arteza #naturepainting #illustrationartists #arttherapy #learningprocess #prettyview (presso Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd12mjEqpa5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
