Filling a Canvas Every Day in November Day !

Naturally, the first day of a challenge one wakes up feeling like dirt, grumpy and has technical failure after technical failure on their live stream. I did end up filling two canvas live and absolutely hating the end result, so this was my third and final attempt to fill this canvas. The end result is a cute and quick little color and texture study.

Lets hope day 2 goes better!

Faulker's art, especially in the Sound and the Fury, was about how people need to be nicer especially to those less white or more female than them, and more honest -- and it was also about opening people's eyes so they see the sickness of society. leave it to the bourgeois miss the point and reject the meaning even if you have to be the one to teach it to them. And they'll certainly always lack the penetrating insight to see how others and a sick America operate. The penetrating insight, the whole point of the book? The American bourgeoisie gave up on that long ago. You meet white Christian private equity kingpins who's favourite artist is Jay-Z for his 'stylings'. Power is the point to the marginally human bourgeois mind, and winning -- not meaning or insight -- is what matters to them. For them to lack even shallow insight means they'll deffo miss the profoundest insights.

ultimately, Faulkner wanted authoritarian enforcement of niceness, though this is not mentioned in the books. this is not so surprising given that the genteel aspirations of the south still remain with a lot of people. clearly, the nuked family bourgeoisie think art is merely about choosing the patterns for curtains and ottomans. furiously, the bourgeois tries to knit a pattern that says it is adroid. and indeed, many bourgeois were good knitters when they wanted to be. to say the bourgeois do nothing would not be honest. of course they do things, even if it is less work in the true sense of undesirable work than the working class. they avoid work and they do not put in the work that the working class did, but they do have their hobbies. work is more of a hobby when you're bourgeois. I've noticed this in many bourgeois Americans with fairly conservative modes of being. Bruce, for example, listed Sisters of Mercy as his favourite band. Paul Ryan listed Rage Against the Machine. Both Bruce and Paul Ryan miss that the entire point of the band is to combat rightist and conservative people like themselves and eliminate themselves from the world. Whoopsies. ArtFail like the ArtPop album i guess. Don't blame the artist, blame the blind bourgeois with the thick skull.

As for Hertzfeldt, especially the early stuff with its juvenile humour and casual misogyny -- apologetics for the misogyny miss the truth, which is very evident in the way the humour is executed -- well, let's just say I don't exactly throw up a shrine to it. As I said, some people just prefer The Animation to human beings. Especially the childish ones with no responsibilities due to their bourgeois environment.

Funny to see Boi gleefully dive back into the trumpeting of established celebrity like it's playpen of balls at a Burger King. such sudden enthusiasm. I know what gets the bourgeois and mini-Trump feeling like meaning exists in the world better than they do, and it's called Very Famous People. they may miss the meaning of the Very Famous People entirely, but they do know a quality brand name and how to find it on Google. they would not know how to find quality if it weren't already established, and thus posit next to nothing obscure or grassroots. Bourgeois taste is about 'the greats' and 'the greatest'. It's opposed to any number of genres of music, for example, which have no interest to it. They also struggle terribly to find quality in anything not straight, white and male. They almost never brandish any such things in the bellicose manner that they're accustomed to doing, fundamentally feeling that their position could only be weakened through resorting to 'identity politics', a bin they put all art that is not straight white and male into -- both consciously and subconsciously.

Transcending their bias can be momentarily, almost tokenistically done, though, as the Jay-Z incident makes clear. but after all, Jigga was the richest and the most powerful. there's a lot for a straight white male rightist Christian to admire in that. for such a person to posit Nas or Mary J. Blige -- never. Never, never, never.

This is the American bourgeoisie, which isn't a true bourgeoisie at all -- mind you, as there's just so very little breadth or culture to it. The American bourgeoisie often seems like a sort of fundamentally phony, only marginally human endeavour, because chasing money and chasing power in the rat race had a high opportunity cost for the myriad of ways they might have more fully developed as humans in a more humane society. A Dutch bourgeoisie is a whole different thing.

This was one of a few early attempts at watercolor painting, I had intended to draw a small ball of flame at my finger tip and layer the colors so the flame still had that translucent look to it with smooth color gradients. Yeah, that didn’t happen! The paper I was using said watercolor but clearly not, that shit crinkled up like a Dorito and the colors bled

“First attempts at new medium are failures sometimes (and that’s okay)”, 20x30, acrylic on canvas.

Things we’ve learned about acrylic pouring:

1. You need more paint than you thought. Even if it’s a small canvas

2. Too little paint won’t flow freely and blowing on it with hairdryer more in hope it will help will only make the surface solidify and then break, leading to an aesthetical catastrophe

3. Adding water, because you’re desperate, will take the pigmentation away

4. Don’t use paper to secure your working place. Plastic foil is the only thing that will work

5. Clean your tools immediately after using them
