Jim Rhodes (a.k.a Rhodey or War Machine) is in prison because he is framed for murder of the Stark Sentinel manufacturing plan supervisor. Actually the murder was set up by Feilong who makes his move in getting Tony's allies out of the way. Rhodey gets a call from Tony Stark when he feels the danger of being surrounded by the inmates who are out to kill him. Fortunately, Rhodey is protected by Sandman and Living Laser the supervillains who save him from getting shanked. It turns out that Tony Stark made a deal with Kingpin the new White King of Hellfire Club to protect Jim Rhodes in prison. Since Kingpin is an ally of mutants (for being a husband of Typhoid Mary the mutant) and Emma Frost (who is disguised as Tony's bespectacled assistant), he arranged for Rhodey to be declared as being under his protection by hiring a few supervillains like Sandman and Living Laser. Also, it seems that the corrupt prison guard/warden is working for Feilong to make things difficult for Rhodey.

Riri comes to fetch Tony and takes him back to his hideout. They try to figure out why he got so disoriented, but then the Living Laser attacks the old Avengers Mansion looking for Tony. (And according to the panel above, the Avengers Mansion is just a theme hotel now. Man, I am really behind on the haps.) After a fight, which involves Riri busting out the Ten Rings (yes, THOSE ten rings), they learn that someone who definitely looks like Tony came to the Living Laser (also known as Arthur Parks) earlier, then tased him and experimented on him or something, which pissed him off, hence these current events. Tony has no recollection of this.

Riri uses the rings to patch up the damage from the fight. Tony realizes that he was probably poisoned during his AA meeting the day before. Who is behind it, though, remains a mystery, but they sure are messing with the stock price! But it's okay, because Tony has a buddy named Zhong Wei, and as long as he's around, the company will be fine. Cut to him definitely being dead. Ruh roh!
