This was vent art when I originally drew it, but now it's basically just some relatable Donnie angst that I liked enough to post.

Felt like doing some random Grown Apart AU doodles to relax in-between comp stuff.
Truthfully, it started out as me just wanting to draw Donnie in his dapper little vest, sans the tailcoat. And then it just snowballed from there lol.
No specific context for any of these well, except maybe one but the feathery fiend in the top-left is one of Leo's hooligan yokai friends. Her name is Jia. I'll post more about her (and the other yokai teens) in the near future.

Wanted to share this human/cloaked!Leo concept art I've been chipping away at for some time. (I have ones for the other boys too, his is just the only one with color rn.)
The outfit and color palette are a WIP - the only thing about it that I'm absolutely certain I want to keep is the ripped jeans. And the hair, because I really like how that came out.
Donnie's will probably be the next one I post, unless Mikey or Raph happens to be nicer to me in the color department (lol).

I have things that I reeeally want to post and are so close to being done, but I'm way too busy with family stuff at the moment to finish them.
So, in the meantime - please have these rough Disaster Twins sketches I did a few weeks ago.

A little backstory tidbit for my Grown Apart AU:
Contrary to their current relationship, there was a time when Donnie saw Big Mama's Assistant as a friend.
He spent a good deal of time talking to them, as they were the only person who seemed genuinely interested in listening to his thoughts and ideas (before April or Shelldon came along). Their quietness, which earned them a "spooky" reputation with most of the hotel staff, never bothered Donnie - he gravitated towards them for that very reason.
Since they never spoke, Donnie started teaching himself sign language to make communicating a little easier. They still didn't say a lot, but he'd get the occasional one-or-two-word response from time-to-time, which was enough to know they were listening.
More about this AU.

I'm trying out a few different options for the colors/details of Future Donnie's design, mostly the arm coverings and his tech leg. I'm not sure yet which one works best - there are elements from each that I like. Might just end up Frankensteining two or more designs together in the end, lol.
Feedback encouraged, I need some help deciding which way to go with this. So, if you have any votes/opinions/suggestions, feel free to drop them in the replies!

Have some potential human/cloaking brooch designs for the boys!
These are several months old - there are definitely some things I want to change/update now that I have a slightly better grasp on the Rise style and how their designs work. I'm especially iffy on Mikey's, his hair makes him look a bit too April-esque, lol.
But, on the whole, I still really like these sketches and thought they were worth sharing. Enjoy!

It's been awhile since I last posted some Disconnected AU content on here. Figured it was high time to remedy that.
Lyrics are from "I Can't Lose You" - a song from the Frozen musical (tour version) which pretty much perfectly encapsulates Raph and Donnie's ACT II - ACT III dynamic. Raph just wants his brother back, at any and all costs; Donnie just wants to keep his family safe, even if it means keeping them at a distance.
I still very much love this whole AU concept and have plans to give it a grand reveal (hopefully sometime in the near future), but for now, have this little preview of a Brains-and-Brawn "confrontation" scene from the latter half of ACT II.

Sorry for the big gap in uploads. These past few weeks have been crazy busy (as is this one) and I've been feeling a little under the weather lately, as well. Not great for productivity.
So, while you wait for the shenanigans to continue, here's a little sneak peek of the next AU comp comic:

Apocalypse Future Donnie Concepts
I wasn't actually planning on posting these until I had a definitive final design to share alongside them, but- It's probably going to be a while before that happens and I feel bad for how inactive this blog has been lately. I've been working on stuff, but only in-between projects, and none of it is really ready to post. So, here's a little something to prove that I am still alive. ❤
Donnie's design is so hard to update. It's just...so good in its simplicity??? Every element feels necessary to his character - so figuring out what to keep, what to get rid of, and what to change slightly is a definite challenge. It's even harder when we're given so little (canonical) information about what role he played in the Resistance and what effects the Krang Apocalypse may have had on him...including how long ago he was killed in relation to the movie. Or how he was killed, for that matter.
So, I'm playing around with some potential ideas and trying to get something that feels right - feels like Donnie, but if he had to adapt to the apocalypse (while also trying to stick to the show's simplistic, shape-heavy style, so nothing too terribly detailed or complex.) I'll share a few of these ideas below, for anyone who's interested.
(Also, yes - I know the spot-goatee is in no way an original concept, but I have a deep affection for it and had to include it in my design.)
One of the concepts I'm considering is giving Donnie a prosthetic leg, something to sort of parallel Leo with his Robo-Raph arm. But in Donnie's case, he probably lost his leg long before Raph was killed or maybe even before he built the robots of his family (maybe this serves as the inspiration or catalyst for the idea.) My working theory is that he was attempting to detonate a mine field full of some Krang dogs and something went wrong which caused him to get caught up in the resulting blast. He was lucky enough to keep his life, but lost his leg and probably some of his hearing in the process. Naturally, because it's Donnie (and because they're living through an apocalypse), the leg will be more than just a prosthetic limb - it'll have some kind of weaponry or technological capabilities built into it. Just haven't decided what that's going to be yet, lol.
I'm also toying with the idea of him creating some kind of "Ninpo Protection Device" - something to act as a defense mechanism against the Krang's mystic-cancelling (or, more accurately, locking) abilities. He's testing it on himself before green-lighting it to be used on his brothers (which, obviously, never happens.) The problem is I can't decide how to visibly convey this idea, I was thinking something along the lines of one of those medical aid devices that become permanent attachments to the user's body. But most of the visible parts of his body are covered in natural armor, save for his limbs and head. So figuring out the best placement for a thing like that has been a little challenging.
I was considering giving him a mechanical hand along with/in place of the robotic leg, as well. Reason being - he works primarily with his hands and almost never wears practical protection gear (another thing I tried to partially remedy with the addition of the gloves), so if any part of him is going to be lost, his hands would be the logical first choice. I also think there's a poetic element to the guy who relies on his tech becoming more and more "mechanical" himself (but only in the physical sense). It would also imply that there was a time when he couldn't work as efficiently on his own as he normally is able to, due to having one less hand, so there was likely an adjustment period wherein he had to lean into his mystic abilities (and the aid of others around him) far more than he's used to doing. A little background character development for him, because I love that kind of stuff.
These are about all of the definitive concepts I have for him at the moment, but obviously, I'm nowhere near having a finished design just yet. So, all of these could potentially be scrapped or tweaked in the final version.
If you read this far - kudos! And thanks for your interest! :>

This family's obsessed With validation And reputation (x)
I heard the song "Price of Perfection" by Katherine Lynn-Rose and immediately thought of Donnie from my Grown Apart AU. It fits his (ACT I) mindset/conflict almost to a T - he's desperately trying to please Big Mama and earn her approval, yet nothing he does or makes ever seems to be enough to gain her favor. Especially when that Assistant is by her side constantly; performing jobs for her throughout the Hidden City, coming and going from the hotel as they please, and soaking up every ounce of Big Mama's praise and affection. What is it going to take for Donnie to show her what he's capable of and make her proud of him?
I set out to do a simple storyboard-esque frame of what the scene might look like, but I ended up getting a little crazy with the colors/lighting - so let's just call this "concept art," LOL.

Art's not really arting too well today, so AU comp responses are going to be a bit delayed, unfortunately. 😔
In the meantime - please accept this preview of the next installment in "the break in" series (as it's been dubbed):

Full comic should be posted sometime tomorrow. ❤

Two quick updates:
Firstly - sdfghFGHJKLGHJ OH MY GOSH WE MADE IT THROUGH ANOTHER ROUND, I'M NONPLUSSED!!! Thank you guys for getting my kiddos this far, you're all amazing ❤ I promise one of those exclusive treats I teased will be uploaded sometime very soon - today, hopefully. Keep an eye out.
In the meantime, have this lil joke doodle I did for funsies. Someone on Discord pointed out that "GA" (the abbreviation for Grown Apart) is also the abbreviation for the state of Georgia. Which I got a kick out of, so I did this silly sketch in tribute:
Tumblr media
Secondly - out of consideration for Mod Shadow's current situation, I'll be reserving the next installments of "the break in" plot for later in the week, seeing as it's the most involved of all the threads I have going rn (with the largest number of participants) and I don't want to create too massive a backlog. Sorry for the delay and thank you in advance for your patience.
And again - thank you all so so SO much for your continued support, my little AU could never have gotten this far without it and I appreciate it immensely! :'>

The Concept Art canvas for my Disconnected AU!
Tbh, I've shared a good bit of what's on this one already, lol Not a lot left to show, except for this semi-old sketch:
Tumblr media
It's an early concept of the Firewall, based off of this gaming device I saw which allowed a person to play video games using only their brain (forgot what the device was called). Proooobably not what it'll end up looking like in the long-run, but that's why it's just "concept art" lol

Art progress has been slow lately, thanks to the holidays, but here's a (TTS) Cass I sketched from memory the other night.
Genuinely surprised how much of her design I was able to recall, I guess a lot of it is just...permanently engraved into my memory now, lol.
