I want to share some interesting discussion about Arturia (and Executor by extension), including some discussion about neurodivergency--a lot of this informs their characters and actions and shines better light on how it can reflect real life.
Also, here's her prequel comic which gives more context
Tumblr media
The outcomes of her actions are not often good, but she's definitely not supposed to be evil/malicious/sadistic. She is ideologically driven and, because of her morality axis being different from most, genuinely believes what she's doing is good/correct. She has reason for what she does, such as being opposed to Laterano's limited empathy and discrimination, and what happened in her childhood.
It can be read as a commentary on how the vast majority would rather remain sheep to survive, then be true and (possibly) die.
Her motivation can be summed up as: she wants people to stop repressing themselves. Which theoretically sounds good on paper, but obviously impractical in practice. Sometimes honesty isn't the best policy.
Kriede's fate, his death, was out of his own real volition. What resulted in him wanting to save Ebenholz.
It's unconfirmed, but she may be a victim to her own Arts. She has no inhibitions about removing other people's inhibitions. Or she gaslights herself/disassociates when it comes to her mother's death. She was probably traumatized, but underreacted. To her, Mom dying and using her Arts on her mom are two separate things that have no causation.
She does not regret using her Arts on her mother. She does regret being unable to have helped her mother go further to achieve her dream before she died. Arturia considers it her own failure that Mom died before she reached self-actualization. At the core of it all, Arturia wants to see more people be like her mother, willing to act on what they truly want.
People's despair are all worthy of being addressed and felt and released. That's extremely relevant to her worldview. It's what separates humans from animals acting on instinct. Arturia doesn't care for the Seaborn and thinks they are beneath notice. They are Nothing to her. You can be Good or Evil, but you must be human. Have human desires, because animalistic desire is boring. Human irrationality is what makes them beautiful to her.
People who say that Arturia caused everything to happen in Hortus de Escapismo ignore the fact that the overall situation had been deteriorating long before she set foot there. If anything, she may have just sped up the process of things that were going to happen anyway. Which is not the same as causing it. Looking at it from the perspective of the people living at the monastery, it's reasonable that there would be depressing thoughts floating around everywhere. But the Abbot tells Arturia that her music soothes the pain.
Laterano's response to the situation did nothing to alleviate the actual problem, the material conditions (ie no food). If Arturia's abilities worked the way some people think they do, everyone at the monastery would've been dead in a week or less.
If you're debating jumping off a cliff, then she isn't going to make you jump, nor will she influence you to jump. If someone is worried about Arturia's Arts affecting them, causing them to do bad things they otherwise wouldn't have, because of intrusive thoughts, then they shouldn't even be concerned. Because Arturia is not interested in that. Acting on intrusive thoughts is not what she looks for. It's more akin to helping someone dive deep into their subconscious to face the thing(s) they refuse to face. Some people choose to take this back up with them to the surface. People who contemplate doing bad things for brief moments normally don't have those kinds of thoughts sitting deep within their psyche to drag up.
Arturia obviously needs therapy, but the most important thing to her is whether you have the conviction to act on your desires. Let go and embrace how you truly feel. The extremities of pain and despair (and perhaps even happiness) are among what she values. A very complicated individual.

i'm so glad you included andoain in your last ask bc i was going to ask you abt your thoughts on him being playable the other day! but what do loopshooters do? is that the new credit store girl introduced in arturia's event?
youtube
Loopshooters are Snipers with a peculiar range, they have an Artilleryman's ATK range but moved one row backwards, so they actually can hit behind themselves. Look at this weird shit
Tumblr media
So what makes Loopshooters unique is that they can't attack while they have a projectile out on the field, but they CAN attack immediately as soon as their projectile returns to them (like a boomerang). This means that the closer an enemy is to a Loopshooter, the faster they attack (as their projectile returns faster)
This has a weird effect: ASPD ONLY AFFECTS THE ATTACK ANIMATION. What this means is even if you have +100 ASPD, the only thing it does is affect how fast Caper throws her projectiles, it doesn't make her attack that much faster (as her projectiles are still limited by their speed and need to return to Caper). This seems bad, but it also means that Caper is mostly unhindered by -ASPD debuffs, as it only affects her throwing animation. Even with a lot of - ASPD, if the enemy is next to her, Caper will still rapidly bounce attacks off the enemy.
Their baseline stats are also great. Caper has higher ATK and Higher HP than a 4 star Marksman, all for only +2 DP, and if the enemy is close enough she can even match them in ASPD. It's an incredibly strong baseline archetype.
Now, the reason I predict Andoain will be the 6 star Loopshooter even when he uses guns and not boomerangs, is because that's basically how his bossfight went. One single shot that ricochets between your units with Andoain patiently waiting for it to finish before shooting again? That's close to Caper bouncing frisbees off enemies. Andoain could have an insanely cool and incredibly stupid attack animation where he only fires one bullet, ricochets it between enemies around the screen, then bounces it back towards him and catches it in order to reuse it again. That's not how bullets work, but fuck it bullets shouldn't bounce either.
6 star Loopshooter Andoain you heard it here first

i have finished reading hortus de escapismo. i liked it more than i thought! certainly grim and depressing in many parts, as this was the central conflict of the monastery' inhabitants and especially clément's internal breakdown. some thoughts below about the event's ending teasing future stories, in no clear order...
firstly, they really went and put in a teaser for the next celebration event (zwillingstürme im herbst) by having arturia be escorted out by a spire caster of all people. if her previous appearance in lingering echoes was any hint (or even oren's tip about her back in guide ahead), it's clear now shes not only operating in leithanien, she seems to have strong ties with the country's militia. from what little i got by filtering any spoilers, ZiH seems to involve not just the twin empresses but the witch king again, so just what kind of business did arturia even get into... im curious.
next, is andoain. it's nice that he gets a nod through the notebook lemuen found in the monastery. i wonder if it's a given that he visited there, given that hes from iberia, laterano's partnering nation in building the monastery in the first place? i used to share fiammetta's anger towards him and thought him unsensitive to lemuen and mostima, and really, none of them have given the closure fia so desparately wants. but with how internalised sankta othering is, how it's so ingrained in their culture because to them, Paradise is real and is their given right, andoain is unique in asking these questions about the lateran faith and equality. to the readers, who are now learning even more clearly how sankta naturally live in a system that promotes that specific brand of racism, andoain becomes more decent than most other sankta characters. seeing the sankta involved in hortus, we can now see just how prejudiced they are especially about sarkaz, with the exception of federico. the nod to andoain in hortus invites me to think he might play a role again in another laterano event, as despite having two laterano events that bring this prejudice into light, theres no satisfying addressing of the issue despite it being literally questioned--by patia, andoain, ezell and cecilia in GA, then by federico and abbot stefano in HdE. this brings me to...
third and last point: im hoping hg cooks something new for laterano. in the epilogue, the pope expresses satisfaction that federico is starting to ask questions about how the law is not as encompassing. he says he will relay federico's question to a man he knows. although there's no way to say this is andoain (hell, what if it's ezell or an entirely new person), it does raise the question why they'd include this dialogue. ofc, in true arknights fashion, this could mean nothing at all. the same is true for lemuen and the abbot's epilogue. both of them either say or think that the abbot's journey is yet to end, and that he will find his own laterano. a new kind of laterano? much like a new volsinii without the famiglie? or (the efforts of) a new iberia? or whatever is in store for leithanien in ZiH? or the strides kjerag is pulling in the new event with degenbrecher? this could be a sign that the issue of laterano and the Law's directive--and its consequences taking shape as sanktan prejudice--will be challenged again, perhaps in a more direct manner. and who better to challenge this than andoain, who's done so before? perhaps it is true that abbot stefano will be involved again then. and id also like to mention lemuen, who does show that sort of questioning as well, in the form of acknowledging the monastery residents' bond regardless of race. still, she seems to have concluded as of the event's epilogue that that sort of understanding between different people is impossible (though she even seems to extend this to between sankta; is she saying this bc even with shared empathy and common goals there is still conflict?). so, who knows. for all i know this is just my delusional hope that andoain and lemuen might become playable some day. even if not though, i do think hortus de escapismo intentionally doesnt give a resolving answer to the inherent issues with Law's directive.
i dont know how to end this, other than that in the end, it is nice to have an epilogue that gives closure to the different characters involved. theres closure for raimund, fortuna, abbot stefano... even hyman and aulus have a section.
last thoughts. the arknights wiki mentions that a sami priest once foretold that terra's end is near, though their cries were ignored. interestingly, we've seen at least two apocalypse scenarios, both not addressed as canon as of now. one is the seaborn assimilation (is3 ending), the other originium spread (kaltsit skin). so perhaps, its not out of pocket to speculate that there might be a future laterano event that signifies a sort of 'end' or fall, either of the physical holy city or the Law. we'll see in due time...

I decided that I better post the first and second ascensions before I went insane and did the third fully. Circe’s staff is a placeholder, but once I have all three I’ll post this again lol
Anyways, did you know that there’s almost zero muscular guys with their legs showing fully? I worked with Caligula but it was still a bit of a trial. There’s a lot more of guys who wear armor and leg coverings than you’d think!
I used and edited assets from Summer Robin Hood, Summer Blackbeard, and Waver (shirt), Rider Da Vinci (ponytail... hair not uh, horse tail), Summer Marie, Kiara, and Kiyohime (hat and flowers) , Caligula (as stated above), Summer Costume and Alter Emiya (Torso and cooler), and Lancer Arturia Alter (horse ears). Saddle bag and towel were hand done and everything else was taken and edited from Chiron’s own assets.
Not including the Draft Layers, Two Ascensions end up close to 400 Layers which seems like a lot but when you factor in the combination of color, lineart, shading and the shirt’s texturing, its a lot. Fate’s sprites are all cut up so you gotta make sure it all fits, yeah?
Anyways (again), I have a general plot line for the Summer Event with Caster Summer Chiron (tentatively called Eternal Summer Stage / Lost Summer Stage) and also the individual sets below the cut as well as the taglist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In general, I’m thinking that kinda like the Hawai’i event, this one takes place in Greece, but things are really different — either the nation’s been condensed or it’s impossible to tell where you are in Greece, even for the Greeks.
The premise is that something or someone is creating an influx of energy there, causing an unbalance or some shit but while the threat level is low, allowing for you to take your time (as all Summer events do), it still needs to be dealt with.
Chiron is your main companion Servant though he’s not the welfare one. He, alongside of a rather enthusiastic Li Shuwen and unmasked Berserker Lancelot— both of which are also Summer Servants for the first half wave (Li being either Saber or Berserker) and Lancelot being a Lancer but still Berserker’s more mellowed and gloomy character.
(Costume dress Servants are still up in the air but I’m weighing more on Hans Christian Biggerson and Geronimo, with the long overdue Hawai’i Cu, and Medusa)
Upon arrival, there’s all sorts of plays and performances going on up and down the coast and further inland where there’s a large village up against a Mountain. Both myth and man are mingling, to which Medusa and Chiron both note to be something much out of an ancient sort of tale (hence why Chiron can take his true form and no one cares).
The first half of the event is mostly solving the mystery of what this influx of energy even is— which is where you meet the second Summer Servants for the first half. Technically not Summer in terms of Class change, Ching Shih is the first you meet, dressed in that event’s other Costume Dress for her summer look. She’s happy to help, though there seems to be something a bit off about how easily things start to pop up after that. Plays pertaining to [    ] and other tales, along with even more heroic legends being spun and told. At night, you often run into an unknown woman who sits and chats with you about things as well.
All the while, Chiron seems to become more and more troubled as time goes on.
One night, however, you wander outside the inn because you can’t sleep only to get attacked by rouge Servants. This is when the second meeting happens— and it’s the “Dark fellow” that Ching Shih has been talking about. None other than Sir Agravain of Iron is here.
Though he recognizes you, he doesn’t say much on the matter, simply defeating the rouge Servants and sending them back to the Throne mercilessly. Post fight, Chiron arrives with Ching Shih and Li Shuwen and Agravain is formally introduced.
(There’s an entire thing about him wearing black armor and then you get his costume dress for free)
After that, the reveal that there’s all sorts of half-phantom-half-servants or rouge servants hiding about is finally confirmed though you’ve been fighting shadows and monsters before, the real task is at hand.
In general throughout the farming periods, the Servants will state that they are splitting up to investigate the area, kinda like the very first summer event where each location is a little bit of a sub story (Lancer-lot and Cu are at the shore investigating traces of magical energy with Geronimo, Li Shuwen and Medusa are investigating the plays and performances with Ching Shih, Biggerson and Agravain are in the town investigating there) so that’s there to get the rest of the costume dresses in the shop (Ching Shih, Cu, Medusa, Biggerson, Gero, etc)
The second half has much more to do with Chiron than the first, though he’s your companion for the first half.
Achilles joins the group, though like Ching Shih, he seems a bit odd, but he arrives and arrives with startling news which kicks off the second half of the event— the mountain against the town is Mount Pelion, the Birthplace of Greek Heroes.
This, of Course, has Chiron absolutely of kilter because suddenly he’s home. Ching Shih admits that she feels like a majority of the Singularity’s power is coming from the Mountain but didn’t want to risk going there because it’s crawling with phantom-servants— which only spurs Chiron to restate that he should still go to investigate there.
Everyone decides to go after that, because Chiron clearly isnt about to just up and let it go.
As you go through the mountain you learn a bit more about it from Chiron and Achilles, and Medusa inputs some that she knows. Agravain and Lancelot get into a minor fight, but it’s settled by Hans mostly, the usually in-between stuff.
Oh and did I mention that during this time there’s also cutscenes and non battle story from an unknown person’s POV within another space? Because there is.
In general, I’m still working out the middle chunks, but the ending is pretty much the arrival at Chiron’s Cave, only to be met by the mysterious woman who you’ve been talking to at night. It turns out that she’s Chariclo and she admits— or seems to admit— that she’s been summoning Servants from between the lines of history and Servants that normally have been gotten overlooked for some reason or another due to either being seen as not heroic enough, prejudiced factors, or they’ve simply been forgotten.
Some other stuff happens, and right when she’s about to say something pretty important you’re interrupted... by you.
Another version of you has arrived and it turns out that while Chariclo has been summoning and maintaining Servants, it wasn’t her choice. The other You has been having her do so in order to find [     ] and you know who that is— how could you not?
An argument breaks out, the other You is convinced that Chariclo has already summoned That Man, and while she doesn’t deny it, she states she can’t let the Other You into the Cave because it’ll ruin things. the Other You is determined, and perhaps a bit irrational with obsession to see That Man again and orders the Shadows to attack.
While almost every Servant is there for support, Achilles is not, and when the battles are done you realize why as Achilles stands by the Other You.
Chariclo is firm, continuing to refuse entry into the cave, and the Other You has had enough. Achilles is revealed to have not been Chaldea’s Achilles and apologizes before he’s ordered to kill Chariclo. Obviously, Chiron’s not about that, and takes the blow, severely wounding him.
Of course, this causes a chain reaction, as Li Shuwen and Agravain immoderately go for the kill on Achilles— the Other You makes a move for the Cave, you intercept Yourself because even though Chariclo might not have been a full alley, she had protected the Cave vehemently, Medusa and the others hold off the others are still fighting the shadows, before the mountain shakes.
While not dead, Chiron’s blood on Chariclo’s hands is enough to pull her from her passive state and forge a temporary contract with you. In combination, you and Chariclo stop the Other You and there’s a long conversation about grief and letting go before You and the shadows leave— either fading away or just leaving.
Once gone, Chariclo immediately has you bring Chiron into the cave so she can start healing him.
This is where you meet your welfare— none other than Romani Archaman himself. He’s weak, of course, but there and its a big reunion moment only to be interrupted by the Singularity destabilizing now that the Other You is gone.
There’s conflict, of course. Chariclo wasn’t lying when she said that Romani was too unstable to bring back. Similarly, the only reason she was able to appear, that she knows of, is because they are at Mount Pelion meaning she too is too unstable to follow a Rayshift. Unless a Holy Grail is used.
A choice is presented that you have to make, but all your choices are Romani, no matter how much you or Chiron want to bring Chariclo back as well. When you make your choice, Chariclo will present you a Grail and admit she didn’t use it on Romani at first because she was terrified what the Other You would do when Romani was stable.
With Romani Stabilized, everyone moves to head back down the Mountain for a rayshift back, but Chiron lingers. There’s grief, of course, but the two must say goodbye once more.
... Only, upon arriving in Chaldea, it turns out to not be the case.
Upon Chiron’s injury, Chariclo’s Noble Phantasm, “Lifeblood of Pelion”, quite literally used Chiron’s blood as fuel upon it being soaked into the ground. While they’re not the same as Ryoma and Oryou, as they’re separate Servants, Chiron and Chariclo’s origins linked and allowed for her to exist in Chaldea as another Caster. it’s a bittersweet ending, as Ching Shih and Agravain did not follow— but it’s no worry. Ching Shih stated that she’d see you again, and Agravain, while he didn’t say so, simply nodded in response.
( * Basically Ching Shih and Agravain are added to the permanent summon pool with Ching Shih being a 5* Rider and Agravain a 3* Assassin )
Chaldea Achilles remains extremely put out that he had been the one to harm Chariclo in the Singularity— and also annoyed he couldn’t go because he was busy making sure that Herc didn’t go off the rails.
Post event, the usual collection of the other 4 copies for the np5 welfare are unlocked along with a costume dress for Romani. Who is a Shielder class Servant.
So yeah. That’s basically the bare-bones of the idea. I don’t quite remember where the Shielder Romani idea came from but I saw a post on it and filed it away in my brain forever. The only reason Medusa, Cu, and Gero aren’t full servants is because I really couldn’t think of good classes for them. The only ones I can really think of for Gero is Avenger, and Medusa has alts for lancer and avenger, and Cu has alts for saber caster and berseker... also there’s the Servant pool of Ching Shih, Agravain, Chariclo, Chiron, and Li Shuwen, which is a hefty number even if the first two are perma summon.
If Third Asc Chiron doesn’t obliterate my soul then I’m probably going to work on Summer Li Shuwen next, or the Costume Dress trio of Gero, Medusa, and Cu. Then we’ll see about making those sprites where there’s no character base to use at all.. I might die (jk)
But when I do post the third ascension I’m going to include hatless Chiron because he’s got a lil bow hair tie and the horse ears are CUTE as hell
Anyways, Tag list below. Good god if you made it this far congratulations I know I ramble and make zero sense half the time

I really cannot emphasize just how excellent the reveal of Type ORT truly is.
The creature has been hyped as THE strongest being in the entire Nasuverse, matched only by the likes of Arcueid using the absolute peak of her power when her using the bare minimum still made her monstrously powerful. It has never directly shown up in any fight beforehand, only being mentioned in supplementary materials. All that’s known is that it has the ability to warp it’s surrounding to be like its home, which to anyone familiar with the lore of Nasu’s works knows this is already fucking insane.
At this point in time, Chaldea has killed literal fucking gods at this point. They defeated a divine King Arthur wielding a mystical lance. They killed the original mother Tiamat. They defeated the Demon King Goetia. They took down the bringer of Ragnarok himself, Surt. They fucked up about half the Greek Pantheon. They just got done blasting the fuck out of a walking god corpse that threatened to destroy the entire planet with world rending curses. At this point, no one would be surprised if they could take on anything.
Of course, ORT is mentioned as being vastly more powerful than Chaldea. Even more powerful than the Foreign God aka the strongest of the Evils of Humanity. But given human being’s issues with scale that large, your average player isn’t gonna think it’s THAT bad. Surely everyone is just exaggerating, right? I mean, hell. It’s revealed in the first chapter that the Storm Border is basically a giant fucking Excalibur at this point so surely we can win!
And then some dumbass decided the best idea possible was to blow up a chunk of the planet.
The soul of the planet, Gaia, screams in pain.
And the Ultimate One of the Oort Cloud rustles.
‘People die’ isn’t enough to convey what happens. The ground is covered with the bodies of the jaguar men you’ve been fighting. Nemo fucking died out of nowhere, during to dust. You see a shot of the planet outside, with about a fourth of the thing blown into bits.
And during all that, this is what you see.
Tumblr media
This fucking...thing. You have to fight it.
And right before that happens, the last thing you see before the party selection is this.
Tumblr media
The Foreign God, btw.
And the horror doesn’t stop there. ORT’s battlefield is a gigantic crater caused by its awakening. You’re fighting on a barely intact little island. Debris and embers are flying up in slow motion, as if ORT’s sheer power is influencing gravity itself.
ORT’s HP bar is 1 million with a white break, rigged break bar underneath. The first of its kind. ORT’s class is Foreigner, obvious yes but said class is treated as a Beast class threat by itself due to the sheer power the Foreigners possess. ORT attacks by its body flashing and then green orbs connected to branches appearing and exploding with AOE damage. Any Servant that dies in battle turns into green crystal and is seemingly absorbed by ORT. The battle music is thus droning, oppressive but also strangely, unnervingly calm tract. As if to say that this creature does not see you as a threat.
But most creepy of all- ORT’s movement in the background is almost...calm. Just gently going up and down in place. Almost like...it’s sleeping still.
But hey, melting through 1 million HP isn’t too hard, especially with defensive options like Jeanne and Caster Arturia as well as all the stupidly powerful firepower you have. ORT doesn’t even have any boxed buffs- it won’t be that hard. And so, you blast through that 1 million HP, breaking open that health bar-
-Only to see a lightshow of nine differently colored lights freeze in mid break before becoming nine new Break Bars, with the next one having 10 million HP. (Note: Even including the Super Recollection quests, no enemy in the game has a total of 10 million HP or more. This is ORT’s second health bar out of ten.) Oh and the boss gets an ATK boost, full NP gauge every tick and Debuff Immunity on break. You can break the second Break Bar. Difficult but doable.
To be met with a health bar of 100 million.
And to make this all darkly hilarious?
A. ORT never uses any skills in battle. It only gets Break Bar effects. The thing isn’t even using any planinng or advanced tactics- it’s just hitting you.
and B. ORT is Level 1. This is Type ORT at it’s weakest.
ORT has been known as the single strongest being known in the Nasuverse. And everything in it’s appearences proves it.

Saberfaces (and why I don't mind them)
People like to make fun of the fact that there are like a thousand people with sabers face and I get that it's a bit cringe.
BUT (with the exception of one) they always made sense for me. Let me explain:
A lot of rambling under the cut:
Even in FSN Saber was as much a symbol for heroism and chivalry as she was a character. She is the Good King (TM). But she also stands for order which will protect some people and will hurt others. Not because she wants to but because she thinks it is necessary. Saber in FSN is struggling with the question if mercy has a place in justice and order. She does the right thing even against her interests. She is someone who upholds justice even if it means sacrifices. And she comes to the conclusion that even that behavior is not enough .And so she trieds to reset history so that someone more merciful than her can take the throne... Someone who could understand the feelings of the others and could have protected The Innocent better. In the end she comes to the conclusion that she tried her best and that you can't change history.
BUT even in FSN there was the possibility of saber alter. Saber Alter is Saber who decided the conflict between mercy and order in favor of an order which protects the in-group from the out-group. In heavens feel she fights against Shirou + Co because they are.the out group not because it is just. The order-symbolism would have worked better if she had been fighting to kill Sakura but I guess that would have been difficult and heavens feel was not sabers story.
In FGO we meet a lot of sabers who made the same decision as saber alter - the lion King is the most obvious one. The mysterious heroine x is someone I haven't met yet but my understanding is, that she is a cop (Cop=Order), saber alter in Shinjuku tries to establish some kind of order etc. I don t know about Okitas relationship to order but she is also a cop.
Bedieviere has sabers face but is a Saber who decided the order/mercy conflict in favor of mercy. A mercy that even includes Arturia herself by giving her a chance to finally rest.
Mordred in some way represents Sabers inner shadow child. He is emotional, he is ambitious, he liked protecting the innocent not because it's the right thing to do but because he feels like it etc. These are all things saber does not allow herself to feel. His betrayal of saber is motivated because he wants to help her. Saber cannot accept Mordred. She despises him but because she cannot accept him she gets destroyed by him. Anyone who has ever done inner child work knows that this struggle between Mordred and Saber is similar to the struggle of someone who has a lot of emotions but cannot relate to any of them.
The one character I'm stumped by is Nero. She doesn't relate to the Order/mercy dichotomy, she is emotional like Mordred but she doesn't try to do the right thing. I'm not even sure she has a real relationship to Arturia. Imo Nero is not a comment on saber. She represents Rome and Romes ideals. She should have gotten her own face.
So that's it these are my opinions on saber..maybe I will reblog this post when I have more to say
Edit because I forgot about Grey: Grey is a parallel to Waver in that she is a person who is meant to aspire to the ideal of a perfect king (while not being it) (Waver - Iskander, Arturia-Grey) but while waver chooses to aspire to iskander grey has to aspire to become Arturia. That's why she hates her face.

what synth do you own? i want to start playing something and i feel a synth would be a great start :)
hello anon!! i hope you're having a very good day <3
i am still a beginner so take my (cheap) setup with a grain of salt. for now, i only use three machines for my synth music purposes, not counting the effects i add in post on my computer. i bought them separately and you can absolutely start with one main instrument dependind on your ambition with the music (if you just want to play, if you want to write songs, etc)... but personally, here's what i work with:
a Korg Minilogue, a polyphonic analogue synthesizer which is very beginner friendly in my opinion. there's an upgraded version that is called the XD, it's a bit more expensive but maybe it's worth looking into it since it has more options to fiddle with (including a built-in looper). i am very happy with my original minilogue though! great instrument, easy to understand and fun to work with, no matter your level. i have to say the sequencer can be limiting if you're not working with an audio interface since it only has 16 steps. which leads to my second machine on the list.....
a Behringer U-phoria UMC22 also known as the cheapest audio interface i could find. it does what it does well, nothing fancy but if you plan to put your music on a computer one day, it's good to have an audio interface (and all the cables that goes with it. i love you audio jack cables <3)
and finally, a Korg Volca Sample which i both use as a drum machine and a sampler. it's not the best drum machine out there but it's very easy to use. useful if you want to write full songs!
it you're not against pads instead of keys, you could check Donner and their B1 for the cheapest option or you could check Arturia's Microfreak which is another great entry-price synth. if it's too expensive, which i have to admit it is, i'd advice you to check the second-hand market, lots of people are selling synths so you might find what you need at a cheaper price than what you expect!
i can't encourage you enough to pick up the synth. it's a great instrument. it has so many layers and it pushes you to experiment and have fun with sound.
have fun ! 🎹 🤖

Today I was thinking that after A Song of/Fate is finished I would like to write a series of random chapters with different routes...
Alter!Sansa's route being stolen by Daemon, corrupting the grail.
The Route: Rhaenyra summons a different conqueror, and it's a Ruler Simp (As Gilgamesh with Arturia)
Tell me Ruler, wouldn't it be wonderful to make you my third wife?
Aemond: Keep your incestuous hands off my woman! I mean my Servant!
Saber!Sansa's route summoned by Aegon instead of Aemond.
There are many ideas running heavy in my head.
Oh, true! Maybe I am putting a very big Spoiler in them, but I have been doing a lot of research on the Beast class, and I have recapitulated the Lost Belt of Babylon, since I hope that from chapter 6 everything will get out of control. This fanfic wouldn't be about Fate or ASOIAF if there aren't mass deaths and tears all the way, let's enjoy the Aemondss while serving it with Fanservice, because we're going to cry soon, me included tehee~

one of my favorite parts of being a very audio engineer-pilled musician is the way i have access to so many different tools that all sound similar and *technically* all do similar things, but im engineer-brained enough to hear massive difference between them all that makes them all different and good for different purposes
lets start with voices because those are fun
so i have technically four different vocal/choir sounds i can use in my arsenal, each with different use cases and wildly different sounds to them.
for starters, i have my own voice. i sing and im not too awful at it and i use my voice a lot for vocal parts in my stuff. the benefit to doing this is that i can do more complex parts and arrange the voices less as big choral pads and more as harmonized yet individual melodic lines that may do things that sampled voices cant do. the only real downsides tho are the amount of work that has to go into *every single take* because i do usually end up recording a good two or three passes of each line to help thicken it up, and that can be challenging. that makes it especially difficult to do the whole big choral pad thing because choirs are typically made of far many more voices in far many more ranges than i am capable of.
so when i need a proper choir sound, i have three options to turn to.
one of my favorite ways to get a choir sound is to use a mellotron! they sound nothing like a real choir but the ancient tape based nature of the mellotron gives anything played on it a haunting, uncanny kind of sound that i think the choir in particular evokes a lot. my go to mellotron plugin is the arturia one when im using the staple sounds i use most often (violins, choir, cello, flute), but im also really fond of m-tron pro and its MASSIVE library of old and more obscure mellotron sounds (including things like the custom tape banks made by tangerine dream from their collection of synths). these i treat with plenty of tape echo and plate reverb for a thick sound with a lot of space to occupy the backdrop of a piece.
but if i want a different character from the mellotron, i can use sampled choirs. more modern sample sets are very clear and “real” sounding, but what i like using are the old emulator ii sounds, since they add a bunch of artifacting and aliasing especially when you play notes well outside of where they were supposed to be pitched. the ancient pitch shifting algorithms replicated in arturias emu-ii plugin create a different kind of uncannyness to that of the mellotron.
but even cooler than those sounds are the ones i made myself. i made my own choir oohs and aahs and heavily processed them and typically run them thru either the emu-ii or the fairlight cmi plugins by arturia, depending on how lo-fi i want them to sound. these very much have the character of my voice and dont *quite* sound like a choir, but they do sound like a wall of voices since each sample contains four of my voice. they also enjoy the benefit of unnatural sounding pitch shifting because i intentionally didnt sample every single note to take advantage of how unnatural and lo-fi the emulator and fairlight sound.
the one downside to using all these sampled choirs is that i *cant* particularly do very intricate lines with any of them. i cant do something like an elaborate six part beach boys-esque harmony with samples. but thats ok because thats not what theyre meant for. especially the samples i made of my own voice very often get used for more ethereal pad sounds. i like to crank up the attack and release and slather tons of delay and digital reverb across them so they create a big, lush, ambient space that still has the character of my voice.
anyways i ran out of stuff to say. i was just thinkin this morning of how i have all these tools that sound similar but all have very specific uses to them and how cool it is that i can use whichever one i want depending on what would fit the piece im working on best. and i felt like going off and rambling for a bit about it to maybe hopefully give others ideas about how to make more effective use of your tools. the key part in all of this is intent. WHY are you using that particular tool, why are you choosing it over another tool, does it actually fit the vibe that you are trying to construct, are you playing to its strengths or are you getting stifled by its limitations, etc etc.

Okay, these two lines are making me wonder about things.
I think it’s been said that Aesc was kind of like an earlier Child of Prophecy or something? Someone who was meant to save Britain?
So I wonder if Aesc was the original Arturia, back in the 5th century when the legend of King Arthur would have originally taken place.
This doesn’t really fit with the lostbelt chronology that’s included, since it says the Legend of Aesc the Savior was 6000 years ago. But, it was said that time is a little weird in this lostbelt, so that could have had something to do with it?
Looking forward to seeing how things pan out with this.

More Agravain stuff from my brain since his likelihood of arrival is nil in GO abut anyways
Here’s the last post on Akkun stuff
Under the cut is a BUNCH of dialogue - side note, I didn’t really know about the FK in depth when working on this so I went off of his preexisting relationships with Gawain, Lancelot, and Morgan (for Bao) . I also wanted to include more but I figured 22 is a lot (20 if you arent counting the other fan servants) and I ended up cutting the three Hassan and xaunzang.
This is mostly just servant interaction, working on cleaning up the bonds and extra dialogue (likes, dislikes, combat, etc)
Dialogue 1:
What do you need? Do not bother me with frivolous things.
Dialogue 2:
Hah. What a handful of a Master you are.
Dialogue 3:
If there is work to be done, leave it here. I will handle it.
Dialogue 4 (Lancelot, both):
You-!! Do not speak to me! Do not even look in my direction unnecessarily, the mere idea of working with someone like you makes me ill.
Dialogue 5 (Gawain):
Well met, Gawain. Hm? A request? Urk- no, no. I will not refer to you as such, not even in an informal setting-! Gareth might call you ‘big brother’ but I have no intention to do so! (Sigh.) fine. Simply calling you brother should be sufficient. No? … Don’t push your luck.
Dialogue 6 (Mordred):
You look well, Mordred… hmph. As rambunctious as ever, aren’t you? Don’t go an cause problems for our Master or King. Go on, get out of here. Yes, yes, don't wait up, as you say.
Dialogue 8 (Garath):
Good to see you, Garath. Hm? Ah… please do not call me as such, Gawain is much more suited to be called ‘big brother’ than I. Urk-! G-Gareth… [sigh] very well… if it makes you happy, you can continue to call me as such.
Dialogue 9 (Carmilla):
They say that you are a master of torture. Perhaps a conversation on techniques is in order?
Dialogue 10 (King Hassan):
Hm. It appears that donning amor isn’t as scarce as I expected from Assassins. Though this is the progenitor of Assassins… despite our differences- Well met.
Dialogue 11 (Any Knight of the Round Table):
Indeed I am here as well. If it makes you uncomfortable ignore me, it doesn’t matter what you do as long as the job gets done.
Dialogue 12 (any Arturia):
Ah, my King… if there is anything you wish of me to do, I will do it. Hm? Rest? Ah… well… if you insist, my King.
Dialogue 13 (Morgan le Fay):
Urk-!! (He looks like he’s looking for a way to escape)
Dialogue 14 (any Faerie knight):
Ah. Hmm. I’m afraid I just do not understand what exactly is going on…
Dialogue 15 (any Alter Saber):
To think that this is… no, this being is not my King.
Dialogue 16 (Gray):
Strange… truly, you resemble the King but… at the same time, you are very different. Your responsible nature is admirable, though. Should you need advice from a dour man like myself, as a… distant… blood relative, my door is open.
Dialogue 17 (Fairy Knight Gawain/Barghest‎‎):
You’re… Gawain, you say? From your world? I… Hm. I suppose I can see the resemblance and why that woman would give you that graph.
Dialogue 18 (Fairy Knight Tristan/Baobhan Sith‎‎):
I warn you, if you start calling me ‘brother’ as Gareth does, I will remove your head from your shoulders. We may share a connection through that Woman but that is all.
Dialogue 19 (Fairy Knight Lancelot/Melusine):
To think that fool would be represented by a waif of such stature in that place… I suppose holding animosity towards you for being that rabid dog’s counterpart is… unbecoming of me
Dialogue 20 (Ching Shih, Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
[Sigh] We meet again, Crimson Pirate. Please get off of me, we are not— watch where you’re putting your hands, woman!
Dialogue 21 (Vincent Van Gogh (True), Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
Ah, so you are here as well painter. You should not hide yourself away like that, though. I’m certain there are many others who wish to see you.
Dialogue 22 (Romani, Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
Hm… I did not expect to see you again, Doctor of Chaldea, and as a Servant, no less. I understand that I am not one to talk, but even as a Servant you should not overwork. Especially as Chaldea’s beloved doctor.
