@diademreigned asked:
even with all my preparations, we can't be too careful. - from X'rhun to Arya ( elder scrolls starters )
Arya was thrilled to finally be able to train with X'rhun again, to show him how far she had come on her own since having to relearn the magical disciplines, but she also understood that they had to exercise some caution.
Now that she lacked the innate talent for destruction spells that her Nightkin blood had provided her, she could easily overdo it and cause herself or others harm. She appreciated her mentor's efforts to set up a safe environment.
Tumblr media
"I understand the risks. But I'm ready, X'rhun!" She clenches her fists determinedly. "If I'm to catch up to our friend, I need to push myself!-- W-With caution, of course."

i know that i sound like i'm repeating myself, but i swear it still fucks with my mind the fact, that grrm could have gotten rid of gendry from the narrative, pretty much after arya gets kidnapped, yeah, sure gendry joins the bwb, and the brotherhood has a bigger role to play in the books, but we know of past members who have left after beric finally died and lady stoneheart assumed the group leadership (ex. edric dayne, anguy), the vow that gendry made as a knight was to beric and the smallfolk, the bwb is not longer a group who administers fair justice, now they are blindly killing for revenge after the rw, they have become an unofficial branch of stark men placed in the riverlands.
people tend to assume that gendry is not smart, (i mean he's pretty much the person arya has called stupid the most), and yeah, his level of formal education is something that can be debated. he was formely an armorer's apprentice, (that means to me that the boy should know his letters and numbers a little), but the thing, he's streetsmart, we have seen him acting as arya's voice of reason more than once in dire situations, is not out of the realm of posibilities to think he could have escaped anytime he wanted, and it's not like gendry can't make a living anywhere else in westeros (except for king's landing), and the people who knew robert baratheon on his prime and can see the resemblance between them are dropping like flies
instead, we have him in the last location arya was known to be at, taking care of orphans like the girl from his memories wanted him to do, not so long ago. i don't know if gendry in his guilt ridden state thinks he has to atone for something he did (does he genuinely believe that arya escaping and getting caught by the hound is his fault?) or is he trying his best to honour the memories of the first friend he ever made
to end this: arya and gendry still match with eachother, both are child soldiers currently serving their own cults obsessed with death

Ok, I normally don't screen shot people's deleted posts but since this was a reply to my own post and I actually spend time to reply back but Tumblr ate my post (bc meanwhile they had deleted their reply) I'll post my thoughts here:
Tumblr media
Highborn kids learning some skill (embroidery, swordfighting etc) isn't the same with lowborn kids doing actual labor working as farmers, apprentices, servants or worse being slaves ( this applies mostly to Essos).
The only part I agree with the above post is that Bran and Rickon were supposed to shoeing horses. Neither where any of the other Stark kids.
All the Stark kids ( Jon and Arya included) enjoyed a life of certain privileges while living on Winterfell.
The difference between those two and the rest of their siblings is that they actually had to work once they left Winterfell. Jon when he joined Night's Watch and Arya when she became servant ( basically a slave) at Harrenhal and later when she joined the House of Black and White.

the insistence that arya be removed from the nobility is dumb as shit lol she is a stark of winterfell and a crucial component of arya's arc is that she finds herself, more than once, forced into servitude that removes her from the influence her noble birth afforded her. both as a POW at harrenhal and as an apprentice at the house of black & white. arya is expected to submit to being powerless, impartial, humble, obedient and she cannot do it because arya's identity is intertwined with her status as a highborn. that cant ever be taken away. nor would arya give it up. bc she wants to have a say. she wants to take responsibility. she wants to belong. she wants to be a part of a community.

If your take on many of the characters in the asoiaf series is based on the metaphor of toilet cleaning, with a few jabs thrown in that does nothing but reinforce the same lame ass take that you and your fellow people in the fandom circle agree on, then that in fact is no more clever than a brick resting on a dirt mound.
Tumblr media
Now this is a funny post I guess. A clever post, OP thinks for sure. They preface it by saying that the best metric to judge someone is by finding out how, they feel about toilet cleaning. And of course, they say, since Asoiaf is about a bunch of noble borns, their aversion to toilet cleaning shines through in immaculate detail. The few exceptions out of those nobles are included in op's post, but the final conclusion is that all but one of them is normal about toilet cleaning.
And I absolutely have no qualms with Op's conclusion. To each their own after all. But since, in their very own style, the post has the same old flavour of insinuating that Arya Stark only plays at being disadvantaged after Ned Stark's death, I felt like I should impart some more flavour to balance it out.
As we see in the above excerpt of Op's toilet cleaning adventures, it is implied that the problem Arya has is with the toilet cleaning in itself. For those who are still confused, the metaphor of toilet cleaning references the manual labor that goes in running a castle- scrubbing floors, fetching water, delivering messages etc. So the way of life a lowborn is forced to live in Westeros. I can't help but see how even when op uses the word "slave" in reference to Arya's position in Harrenhal, it never really got translated in their understanding of what slavery means. Being a slave/prisoner of war in Harrenhal meant that this wasn't an employment. This was the complete ownership of Arya by those who instructed her and thus by those, who had the command of the castle. Pretty sure that slavery which has been the running theme of Grrm's books is said to be unbearable even when the slave is wearing the golden collar in place of chains (remember Daenerys?). In my understanding, Arya hates herself and everyone involved less for the toilet cleaning and more for the fact that this toilet cleaning is forced on every single prisoner of war, and they can't say no because saying no leads to death. Like pretty sure she witnessed a girl getting raped every night and when the girl finally said no by attacking her rapist, she was promptly cut down. I also have this passage that details what led up to Arya's toilet cleaning slavery at Harrenhal. Let's have a look shall we?
Their captors permitted no chatter. A broken lip taught Arya to hold her tongue. Others never learned at all. One boy of three would not stop calling for his father, so they smashed his face in with a spiked mace. Then the boy's mother started screaming and Raff the Sweetling killed her as well.
Arya watched them die and did nothing. What good did it do you to be brave? One of the women picked for questioning had tried to be brave, but she had died screaming like all the rest. There were no brave people on that march, only scared and hungry ones. Most were women and children. The few men were very old or very young; the rest had been chained to that gibbet and left for the wolves and the crows. Gendry was only spared because he'd admitted to forging the horned helm himself; smiths, even apprentice smiths, were too valuable to kill.
They were being taken to serve Lord Tywin Lannister at Harrenhal, the Mountain told them. "You're traitors and rebels, so thank your gods that Lord Tywin's giving you this chance. It's more than you'd get from the outlaws. Obey, serve, and live
Obey, serve and live. That's the toilet cleaning op of the excerpt references to. And then there comes the topic of Arya mellowing out to the toilet cleaning (slavery) after her very own "murder-by-proxy spree". Now I don't mean to assume, but it feels like op has gone down the same drain of Arya the murder baby trope, where it is believed that murdering people is just another way for Arya Stark to decompress after a stressful week at work. When a slave is forced to slavery, and gets the means by which they can attack the slaver to strike down their chains- I am pretty sure it is natural that they would feel some type of way about it. They would feel that now they have some control and is no more the toilet cleaning mouse. The regaining of agency is the difference between the mouse and the wolf. It is less about toilet cleaning and more about agency since, Arya "the once toilet cleaning mouse" seemed to voluntarily want to be a part of the crew onboard of a ship. Now idk much about sailing, but this I can say, being on a ship earning your keep involves a looooot of toilet cleaning for sure.
I have no more energy to dissect the last throwaway statement but I am happy it is finally being recognized that the death cult is truly a way to cope, when half of your family is dead and you can't do anything about it because the people in power have caused that death. Hopefully it would soon translate into seeing the list as a coping mechanism too and no more bullshit about being a mindless murder baby

Hello! As a person who hasn’t read the books, how true is it that Arya avenges her family like she did in the show? ‘tell them the north remembers’ because a while ago I read that the Lannisters and Freys had difficulties as a result of the red wedding, they were seen as traitors of guest rights, if Arya plays them with the same coin, wouldn’t she be staining the reputation of the north and affecting it more than helping? From what I know, Arya’s arc is about what justice is, but taking revenge isn’t so...
Hi there!
In the books, 11-year-old Arya is still firmly entrenched on another continent as a Faceless Men apprentice, while the character of Lady Stoneheart (resurrected zombie Catelyn) is commiting vengeful atrocities in the Riverlands. So we cannot make full canon statements on the subject. Yet.
(Arya is very much also engaging in vengeful murder, though, so her vengance-v-justice arc is very much a work in progress!)
The show, unfathomably, erased Lady Stoneheart and thereby a big chunk of Arya's storyline upon her return to the continent of Westeros. Because between the two of them, Catelyn and Arya have plenty of foreshadowing in the books for a confrontation with House Frey, cooking-related twists and surprises and serious examinations of what marks a way forward: vengeful destruction or mercy.
Considering her mom is already a murderous revenant, Arya is likely the one to a) give her peace, b) turn her back on destruction, and c) choose life and cooperation, even if it feels less satisfying. Basically, the opposite of what the show presented.
Since the show erased that entire arc and also had neither motivation nor imagination enough to create an alternative path toward the same conclusion, they instead went ahead and gave Arya a mix of Wyman Manderly's Frey Pies and Lady Stoneheart's vengeance rampage - and decided to make it look like a badass cool move.
Her reunion with her mother and contemplation of alternatives to killing got a subtle nod through her interactions with the actess Lady Crane in her Braavos arc before she escapes the Faceless Men. But that, too, ultimately only served as a prelude to Arya's doing parcour through the city and then fighting the Waif and winning. Because her arc was all about fighting skills and none of that boring internal struggle stuff.
I... harbor a lot of latent rage for a lot of things the show did.
I am a hater.
Sorry.

Book Gendrya Month 2023 - Day One - Trust
Arya has shown several times that she trusts Gendry, but I think one of the biggest examples comes when she divulges her plan of escaping Harrenhal to Gendry, even though he is angry with her at the time and could have very well told someone if he was a less loyal and trustworthy person.
At the forge she found the fires extinguished and the doors closed and barred. She crept in a window, as she had once before. Gendry shared a mattress with two other apprentice smiths. She crouched in the loft for a long time before her eyes adjusted enough for her to be sure that he was the one on the end. Then she put a hand over his mouth and pinched him. His eyes opened. He could not have been very deeply asleep. "Please," she whispered. She took her hand off his mouth and pointed.
For a moment she did not think he understood, but then he slid out from under the blankets. Naked, he padded across the room, shrugged into a loose roughspun tunic, and climbed down from the loft after her. The other sleepers did not stir. "What do you want now?" Gendry said in a low angry voice.
"A sword."
"Blackthumb keeps all the blades locked up, I told you that a hundred times. Is this for Lord Leech?"
"For me. Break the lock with your hammer."
"They'll break my hand," he grumbled. "Or worse."
"Not if you run off with me."
"Run, and they'll catch you and kill you."
"They'll do you worse. Lord Bolton is giving Harrenhal to the Bloody Mummers, he told me so."
Gendry pushed black hair out of his eyes. "So?"
She looked right at him, fearless. "So when Vargo Hoat's the lord, he's going to cut off the feet of all the servants to keep them from running away. The smiths too."
"That's only a story," he said scornfully.
"No, it's true, I heard Lord Vargo say so," she lied. "He's going to cut one foot off everyone. The left one. Go to the kitchens and wake Hot Pie, he'll do what you say. We'll need bread or oakcakes or something. You get the swords and I'll do the horses. We'll meet near the postern in the east wall, behind the Tower of Ghosts. No one ever comes there."
"I know that gate. It's guarded, same as the rest."
"So? You won't forget the swords?"
"I never said I'd come."
"No. But if you do, you won't forget the swords?"
He frowned. "No," he said at last. "I guess I won't." (Arya X ACOK)
Some may argue that Arya only risked telling Gendry, and by extension Hot Pie, because she needed them, that she needed Gendry’s swords and Hot Pie’s food, but this isn’t the case at all.  Arya is the one to plan the entire escape.  She is the one to dress accordingly for travel, as well as steal a map and a dagger from Roose Bolton.  She is the one who manages to get the stableboy to saddle three horses for her to take, and she is the one who kills the guard when she realizes she isn't going to be able to trick the guard in order to escape.  She didn’t technically need Gendry or Hot Pie.  Arya already had the dagger, which is what she used on the guard, and she already knew how to scavenge for food and to hunt small animals.
Arya even acknowledges later that Gendry and Hot Pie were slowing her down, but because Arya cares about them, especially Gendry, she couldn’t just leave them behind in Harrenhal, no matter how much she insists Gendry and Hot Pie would have been safe in Harrenhal when she’s faced with the reality of what may happen to them all if they are caught, even though we know first hand Gendry and Hot Pie likely would have been killed with most of the people in Harrenhal, like we saw when Jaime came and took the castle once again.
She would make much better time on her own, Arya knew, but she could not leave them. They were her pack, her friends, the only living friends that remained to her, and if not for her they would still be safe at Harrenhal, Gendry sweating at his forge and Hot Pie in the kitchens. If the Mummers catch us, I'll tell them that I'm Ned Stark's daughter and sister to the King in the North. I'll command them to take me to my brother, and to do no harm to Hot Pie and Gendry. They might not believe her, though, and even if they did . . . Lord Bolton was her brother's bannerman, but he frightened her all the same. I won't let them take us, she vowed silently, reaching back over her shoulder to touch the hilt of the sword that Gendry had stolen for her. I won't. (Arya I ASOS)
And we see that Arya was willing to risk revealing her identity to the Northmen at Harrenhal, who she didn’t even trust, if they were caught, all in the attempt to spare Gendry and Hot Pie.  And considering she didn’t trust them she couldn’t even be certain her revealing her identity would have kept her safe or her friends.
In the end, Arya may have exaggerated what the Bloody Mummers were going to do once they took control of the castle in order to get Gendry to leave with her, but Arya’s heart was in the right place.  She knew nothing good would come from leaving Gendry and Hot Pie behind, however, she also couldn’t bear to go on by herself, as she needed her pack beside her on her journey forth to find her mother and brother, hoping that when they did, her pack would be able to stay by her side.

Ser Gendry
The topic of the day is: Gendry doesn't want to be a blacksmith for the rest of his life. Alright, now let's argue.
Eddard
In the first scene where we meet him, the blacksmith's apprentice has made a bull helmet, but:
"This is fine work. I would be pleased if you would let me buy it." The boy snatched it out of his hands. "It's not for sale." [...] "I made it for me," the boy said stubbornly.
Ned offers to give him a 'military' education, and his words sound somewhat prophetic.
"If the day ever comes when Gendry would rather wield a sword than forge one, send him to me. He has the look of a warrior. Until then, you have my thanks, Master Mott, and my promise. [...]”
Martin does not describe Gendry's reaction to these words, but it's important to notice that when Ned sees the helm it's "raw steel, unpolished but expertly shaped.". And than, in Arya's chapters Gendry does nothing but spend his time polishing it. (also "Robert was true steel").
Needle
We know that the helmet represents for Gendry much more than his career as a blacksmith, it's personal. Even Arya recognizes that it is as important to him as Needle is to her.
She adds two of the Mountain's men to her payer for the theft of Needle and the helmet, because they are more than objects, they are a part of their identity.
Arya watched and listened and polished her hates the way Gendry had once polished his horned helm.
Acorn Hall
The decision to join the Brotherhood Without Banners from Arya's POV seems sudden and almost unwarranted but it isn't. In fact, Gendry tried to talk about it with Arya well before, but she didn't understand it and he wasn't able to explain himself.
It's him who asks her to go to the forge and it's him who begins the conversation talking about war heroes: Thoros, Robert and the siege of Pike. At Acorn Hall Gendry puts down the blacksmith's tools.
Gendry hung the tongs back up and took down the heavy hammer. “Master Mott said it was time I made my first longsword. He gave me a sweet piece of steel, and I knew just how I wanted to shape the blade. Only Yoren came, and took me away for the Night’s Watch.”
So we find out that Gendry has never forged a single sword, and when he talks about his first sword he describes it in particular. He doesn't sounds like a blacksmith who takes charge of a customer's commission, he sounds like a boy who, after having made a coll helm all for himself, now dreams of having a sword to match it.
But Arya doesn't see where the conversation is going and she says:
“You can still make swords if you want,” said Arya. “You can make them for my brother Robb when we get to Riverrun.” “Riverrun.” Gendry put the hammer down and looked at her. “You look different now. Like a proper little girl.”
He stops, puts down the last instrument too and repeats: “Riverrun.” and then he changes the subject.
The BWB
In the books, Gendry doesn't get a chance to explain his motivations to stay with Lord Beric to Arya like he does in the show, but I think they're similar.
The clue is the flaming sword. Gendry talks about it right in the Acorn Hall scene and insists on explaining that it's just a trick (done with wildfire and ruins the blade).
But then the two see Beric setting fire to his sword to fight the Hound. Arya asks if it's wildfire, but no! This time it's not just a trick, this time it's real. Something has changed.
The Hound's trial convinced him of the principles of brotherhood and convinced him of the existence of the red god. So:
"Arise Ser Gendry, knight of the hollow hill, and be welcome to our brotherhood."
Brienne
Now he is a knight! Unfortunately everything go super wrong: Arya is kidnapped, Beric dies, LSH, the brotherhood changes and Gendry finds himself carrying out his vow to protect the innocents at the Crossroads Inn by picking up his blacksmith hammer again. But that doesn't seem to have changed his resolve: he still wants to be a knight, he still wants to forge a sword for himself.
He took it for an insult. "I'm a knight. That sword will be mine own, once it's done." What would a knight be doing working at a smithy?
Harrenhal
Throughout all the books, the only time Gendry wants to be left alone to lead the simple life of a blacksmith is when he is a prisoner in Harrenal. But that doesn't represent his personality and his wishes for the future because Harrenal's all point is that it's doom and gloom and reduces even the proudest of wolves to a gray mouse that can't do anything but scrub the floors.
Dunk
I should add that Gendry was born in the capitol, so it is not at all improbable that he grew up hearing the stories of Dunk from Flea Bottom who became Ser Duncan the Tall, and that these could be at the origin of this desire for more.
In the end Gendry is more ambitious than he's given credit for.
When Arya saw the horns she knew it was Gendry
And if Arya isn't fully Arya without her sword, Gendry isn't fully Gendry without his horns. Looking for the quotes on A Search of Ice and Fire I realized that most of the time the helmet is mentioned it's called just 'horned' and not 'bull', coincidence? I don't think so :)

(yes, this is me trying to picture them back at their time at harrenhal, i'm sorry) and here are the forty two to sixty two next fics, as always most of the summaries were written by me, so if you ask yourself why the summary is really shitty and not appealing, that's why. a high number of these fics are restricted so you'll need a ao3 account to be able to see them. any kind of triggering content i put with the corresponding warnings, same with any minor pairings featured and finally if the fic contains smut (so if that is not a thing you're interested in reading you can skip it) ➤i'm here by swanprincess - smut - gendry has nightmares about the time where the hound kidnapped arya - bwb au ➤the ghost of the red keep by thedameintheraininmaine - in one of arya's explorations of the red keep, she think she hears a ghost, the ghost end up being a blacksmith that's actually one of king robert's bastards - canon divergence - if you squint you can see a little of sansa/edric storm ➤something special by persuade_me - king robert didn't die but the starks return back to winterfell with an additional armorer's apprentice in their group - canon divergence ➤the white fawn by alltheworldsinmyhead - a beautiful piece of arya and gendry growing old together - bwb au ➤florian the fool by alltheworldsinmyhead - companion piece to the white fawn gendry loving his wife and his children - trigger warning child death - bwb au ➤i will not ask you where you came from by argella - one of my all time favourites gendrya reunion fics - future au ➤hammer and stone by acornsandravens - smut - sex ends up being a magic ritual at winterfell ruins - future au ➤i'll dress you all by obsessivewriter - smut - gendry is one of king robert's aknowledged bastards and works in the castle forge, he falls in love with a kitchen maid that ends up being the daughter of the hand of the king - canon divergence ➤mulish by acornsandravens - arya get jealous about gendry's favoritism towards their new travel companion - future au ➤lady of the forest by scrubclub - arya and gendry's life post war - future au ➤seeking shelter by obsessivewriter - fake-pretend relationship with there was only one bed - canon divergence ➤i've seen them chewing on the shadows in your eyes by forcynics - gendry thinking about arya as they travel north ➤partner by crookedstitches - one of my absolute faves fics - five times gendrya dance around each other, and one time they don't - future au ➤den of beasts by h3l - smut - arya returns to westeros in time to see her sister getting married, i have to say that the fic is from 2013 and somehow ends with lord of storm's end gendry and sansa as lady of winterfell (personally talking i'm not a fan of either but the gendrya is really good) - future au - minor jaime/brienne and sansa/the hound ➤carved from stone by onborrowedwings - arya and gendry trapped in the bwb under lady stoneheart's leadership - canon divergence ➤sometimes the fall kills you by theviolentdelight - angsty gendry hours after arya's kidnapping ➤in the silence (i heard you calling out) by chocolatecarstairs - shameless smut - that's all you need to know - canon divergence ➤i have no use for rings of gold, i care not for your poetry by thedameintheraininmaine - smut - if you can look past the arya and sansa have a good sister relationship tag (why does this tag even exist? when it's a blatant lie) gendry gets legitimized as the heir of the iron throne this fic has a good friends to lovers in an arranged marriage pipeline - canon divergence - minor sansa/margaery ➤lovers after the war by debate - smut - gendrya finding their place right by each other post war - jon is dead in this one - future au - minor bran/meera ➤i'll spend this summer by your side by alltheworldsinmyhead - smut - this is a lord gendry au but it's pretty much gendrya arranged marriage childhood-friends-to-lovers oh and before i forget it's a no rebelion au, meaning lyanna is alive and jon grew up as a targaryen - trigger warning miscarriage - canon divergence - minor jon/daenerys

Are Jon and Sansa both "idealists" on AGOT that have their dreams being crushed?
(This meta was inspired by a conversation I had with @docpiplup )
I've seen a couple of posts claiming that Jon and Sansa go through parallel arcs on AGOT because "both have idealistic dreams which get crashed". I do like all the Starklings and I find interesting pointing out parallels - even underrated ones - between any combination of them however in this case I find the parallel rather shallow.
First of all, let me begin by saying that Jon, Sansa AND BRAN ( who often is forgotten in order to make this parallel only about his older siblings) all express an ambition of theirs at the beginning of the first book. Jon wants to join the Night's Watch, Sansa wants to go to the South and become the Queen and Bran to become a knight.
Sansa and Bran's ambitions are more related because their ideal scenarios are inspired by the South and their mother's culture. Meanwhile, the Night's Watch is considered a respectable choice only on the North and Jon, the sole sibling raised only by a Northern parent couldn't possibly have a southern ambition.
In my opinion, what makes Jon's "dream" different than those of his younger siblings is the position he occupies within the family. Let me elaborate. Sansa and Bran are two well cared and sheltered kids living in a loving environment who are allowed to have their big dream (and honestly? Good for them, that's how kids on their age should be allowed to be). Plus, those are the two Starks who love reading fairy tales and I would describe romantic at heart.
Even if their dreams won't come true they will still have a bright future ahead of them (even if Sansa doesn't travel South and doesn't become Joffrey's queen, her father would arrange for her a noble marriage of her status/ even if Bran doesn't become a knight, he would still be welcomed to his father's and later to his brother's council and he could also have a noble marriage with lands to rule).
Unlike them, Jon feels unwelcome to Winterfell ( mostly bc of how the Castle's lady is treating him). He needs to make his life somewhere else. But what are his options? His father didn't make him apprentice of a craftsman so one day he could have a job of his own to make his living. Instead he was given a lording's education alongside his brothers - but bc of his bastard status, he's not expected to rule anything- and he was trained at the sword. Living in the North were sellsword companies and knights don't exist, becoming a Black Brother was the only road for him. So for Jon, wishing to join the Night's Watch isn't a romantic dream but instead the only solution a realistic teen could come up with.
Here are his own thoughts right after he tells his uncle he wants to join the Night's Watch:
He had thought on it long and hard, lying abed at night while his brothers slept around him. Robb would someday inherit Winterfell, would command great armies as the Warden of the North. Bran and Rickon would be Robb's bannermen and rule holdfasts in his name. His sisters Arya and Sansa would marry the heirs of other great houses and go south as mistress of castles of their own. But what place could a bastard hope to earn?
And since this meta is getting too long I won't gointo detail and describe how Jon and Sansa react once their dreams get crushed (maybe I'll make a part two of this meta someday?). I'll just say that once again they have totally different reactions. Which is to be expected since those two siblings are very different in terms of personality.

dany v
grrm has no idea how slowly hair grows
once again dany is being called mad and why? bc she knows the worth of her dragons. "mad queen dany" commentary is worth less than dirt to me idgaf!
dany recognizes that mirri did what she did to "avenge her people" too which doesnt change the fact she murdered dany's unborn child but it is a mature observation imo
3 heads 3 fires 3 mounts 3 treasons
mummers dragons = "gives the heroes something to fight" oh word?
i love that dany knows how to haggle
a faceless man wouldn't of been so damn sloppy. arya is a 11 yr old apprentice and she pulled off a public assassination like this
strong belwas in his lil crop top
we're going back to pentos!!! (spoiler alert no we're not)
arya x
gendry was wrong for that "your friend biter" comment lmao but arya seems the truth in some of what he says
its so messed up that arya had to be in the same room as a naked roose AND qyburn. she couldve killed 10 guys to get out of this situation and it wouldve been justified
roose showing up with a bunch of dead wolves is heavy handed
the freys know what robb did i feel trw looming
if any other character had this godswood scene we'd never hear the end of them being the north's chosen one..........like this is so significant. she is arya of winterfell! daughter of the north! she has the wolf blood! all according to a talking weirwood!
arya thinks both the boys hate her but she's not leaving them behind. she saves their lives by dragging them out of there.
the way arya is planning this escape is so impressive from supplies to the timing and location and everything. shes going to lead men one day
the audacity of this girl stealing bolton's map and his dagger
i got many many more things to say about her escape but she did what she had to do!

Swords and Glyphs post war
I think in the MIC post war Rhunön takes some sort of apprentice. Maybe one of Eragon’s 12 guards (not including the Trauma Twins) or someone else. Ooo, maybe Naela. She wants the Rider’s swords to continue on with the new order, start fresh again and this time with spells to prevent the spilling of innocent blood or some such. They don’t move their operation/forge to Mt Arngor, but the journey to Ellesméra for your final tests and Riders sword is a big deal.
When Arya and Firnen start taking students (probably 10-15 years after she and Firnen join Eragon, focusing on general teaching for a while and occasionally being official liaison to Alagaesia for the order during times of crisis since she’s used to that job) and they begin getting their first Riders swords at the end of their training (which, from what we know from IC canon, it seems to take multiple decades to be deemed fit for a Rider blade), Arya starts a new little thing.
Whenever her students successfully clear their trials and they name their swords with Rhunön and her apprentice and the glyph is added, Arya gets Rhunön to tattoo the glyph on her. Smallc probably somewhere like around her forearm, upper arm, etc. Arya and Firnen have an immense pride in their students and it’s a way to show them physically that the teacher isn’t the only one who leaves a mark, but the student does as well.
Eragon occasionally does the same, but he rarely has the time to take direct students. He does, however, with permission from the chieftains of course, accept the gift of tribal tattoos signifying friendship with the urgal clans on his upper arm from the first Urgal student.
