I like doing my little rant posts 2 people read so I'm doin it again this year :] this time I finished something way sooner too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fatamoru... took me half a year to get myself to actually read it but well it's a classic and it's good as hell what can I say (spoilers under cut)
gonna link my longass livetweet thread here for posterity so it's not completely lost in the mire
this felt so targeted though it's legit dumbfounding. I went into it only recalling 1 and a halfish spoilers of 1) michel is the MC and 2) he had trans stuff going on and honestly if anything my jumping at shadows and going HUH WAIT ? the whole time knowing that kinda heightened the experience for me early on. I was about to say at first it was hard to know what parts of the story I should really sink my teeth into but I think that was the intended experience... these stories aren't yours etc... the atmosphere and ost especially is also like soooo crazy good I was worried it'd be hard for me to stay focused on this game without voice acting but I was surprised how well it stuck even if some of the sfx are very obviously old and scuffed none of them took me out of it much (this has been a legit issue for me with some games.. the otomate sound library is really scuffed sometimes LOL) and even when the game was going over the same events, in different contexts etc it never started grating on me so that is a huge W. too many fucking games act like you just weren't paying attention when you were reading and it not only pisses me off but it's just so boring. so this avoiding that entirely was really good. GRIPPING. some of it was so edge of my seat I think I played for like 10 or more hours straight I thought I was gonna die but in a good way LMAO I don't think I have anything interesting or poignant to say about the actual story itself other than despite everything I want jacopo dead, I totally get the point about letting go and moving on and a cycle needing to be broken and it was visceral and moving and so real to me. but also. jacopo deserved all that shit. everything else though I'm just sitting there yelling TRUE AS HELL!!!!!! really loud. I love you michel I love you giselle I'm gonna get u outta there morgana. wait I lied. morgana as the white haired girl. it's not fucking fair.... I wanted to save her... I do think 'she' truly did become part of morgana again though, based just on how scared morgana was of didier at the end, at the cries of being called an unholy witch... a fear that only she held, morgana sort of reveled in being a witch in the course of carrying out the cruelty. but the saintly part of her feared that fall, that complete inversion of her self and the hatred it pointed towards her as well... man : ( ........... : (
I could write an essay specifically on the ways I relate to michel to a like genuinely scary degree the overlap made me sick to my stomach in the best way. but honestly I would be a weepy mess at the end of it so I don't wanna do all that. as an aside though apparently the author(s) have said he's "only intersex, not trans" but man I think that's a stupid as hell delineation to make. he's both. he was assigned 'female' at birth and was raised as a woman and chafed against the social role of 'woman'. IF ANYTHING I relate to him more about not necessarily feeling dysphoric/lacking in regard to his genitals on his own but more about the fact that that somehow invalidates his status as a 'man' being something that torments him. it's a topic that overlaps imo. but the fact the game handles it with as much tact as it does while being as old as it is surprised me. though I could see it being still too upsetting for some because the depiction of the trauma is kind of like. viscerally too real almost. when giselle described her abuse... it wasn't even descriptive in the disgusting voyeuristic way it so often is in other places, but the representation of how it just feels to be subject to that was so real that it really really fucked me up... I'M DOING THE THING I JUST SAID I SHOULDN'T AAHHH but well. it's really good. it's like eating a heavy but hearty meal where it's so good but I can feel it sitting in my stomach and the weight of it just makes me groan. does this even make sense anymore. man.
ok a selection of my fav screengrabs to play me off before I continue in such a manner.

👑Young Royals👑
Just a hodgepodge of asks to get to know your favourites and gush some more about YR (one day it will be enough right?). Share your thoughts dears! 💜
Thanks for the tag @ladyauroraborealis 🥰
Favourite:
Kiss
Tumblr media
I completely agree with Lana. The smile right before the kiss. Ugh it’s just so sweet
Hug
Tumblr media
Wille grasps onto Simon like he thought he was going to lose him. There’s so much desperation but just to hold Simon and be held by him. He so badly wants everything to be okay
Foreheads touching
Tumblr media
It’s so delicate and sweet. And everything else going on just makes it so heartbreaking
Hand holding
Tumblr media
They’re both seeking comfort in each other and just desperately trying to hold on to each other
Wille and Simon outfits
For Simon the purple hoodie (obviously) and for Wille the blue and black sweater
OST
This song perfectly conveys their emotions in the scene and it’s just so pretty to listen to (but honestly that’s true for all of them)
Share a moment that
Made you cry (happy or sad tears)
Tumblr media
I never actually cried while watching yr but this scene was the closest I got to actual tears
Made you smile big
Honestly every single cute wilmon moment. Theres not a single one of them I can watch without smiling like a complete idiot
Made you want to throw your screen against a wall
Tumblr media
I remember the first time I saw this part I legitimately screamed. The whole circumstances of their situation and then the confession of love just got me feeling a whole lot of emotions
Fish scene or morning after scene?
The morning after scene. It ranks high in my favourite scenes across all film/tv
Moment you knew this show was something special
Tumblr media
This scene holds a special place in my heart. The technical aspects are amazing and as soon as I saw it I knew this show would ruin me
Quote you love
Jag bara vill inte förlora dig. Du är den enda som jag känner att jag faktiskt kan prata med här
Who would you want to be friends with first (or be BFFs) if you went to Hillerska?
I feel like I would probably get along best with Simon
Pick a song you like that you feel could be Wille’s, Simon’s, or Wilmon’s anthem
So for Wilhelm I think Bloodline fits really well with his season 1 storyline. He keeps pushing against the grain to follow his heart but ultimately caves into what he’s expected to do
I strongly believe Wille is going to fuck shit up in season 2 and I am so here for it. I also found this song thanks to @grizviser gaslight, gatekeeper, girlboss playlist that has loads of other great anthems for Wille in season 2
This song is so good and when I translated the lyrics I thought it fit with Simon especially in season 1. He’s so empathetic and he deals with Wille’s inconsistency and ultimately gets hurt in the end
For season 2 I think Simon is going to be trying really hard to move on from Wille but he does truly love him so it’s not going to go away easily. It’s the I love you even though I don’t want to (until they get back together of course)
I saw someone else (sorry I don’t remember who) mention Like Real People Do for Wilmon and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it because I think it fits really well for them in season 1
I think Fallout might fit well for Wilmon for at least half of season 2. Like I think the first verse sounds very much what Wilhelm will be feeling and the second verse is more Simon. And I know we don’t want a love triangle but the jealousy implied in the song also fits (and it doesn’t necessarily have to refer to a love triangle)
And a little extra but I hope (maybe for season 3) that their relationship gets to the point where this song works perfectly
Show me a scene that when you see it, makes you want to rewatch the show right then and there
Tumblr media
The fish scene is probably the scene I see gifs of most often and every single time I want to rewatch the show
I’m tagging @gold-rush-wille @goldenwilmon @whatintheeverlovingfucketh @eyeofthedrgn and anyone else who wants to participate!

I love @doctorsiren's dadskall au, and I thought I'd write a little fic about it. basically, the dadskall au is where xisuma and ex (alex)'s dad is doomguy, but some sort of accident/crazy magic/whatever made him and iskall share a body, go check out doctor siren for the whole story, she has great art, too!
disclaimers (you can completely ignore this section if you want): I have played about 15 minutes total of all the Doom games, read none of the books, seen none of the movies, but the ost is great, so this will probably be ooc for doomguy. xisuma and alex are more based on the featherweight au versions, not the real hermitcraft versions. this story is not part of the dadskall au nor any of dr siren's other aus, it's just a break for me to write some fluff. it takes place ~3-4 years after where fw currently is (s7 election era) but is not set in the fw au world. link to the post part of this is based on. ...and I think that's everything, onto the fic!
.
Xisuma took a deep breath, “I think dad’s alive.”
“You said you saw him die,” Alex, previously known as Evil Xisuma, said, turning to his brother, “They told me he died”
“He wasn’t exactly dead, it’s hard to explain. It’s more like...the horcruxes in Harry Potter. When dad died, I think there was some magic at play that made it so his ‘soul’ transferred into the nearest healthy, person. And I think I found them.”
“Uh-huh, and who might that be?”
“HALLO!” Iskall burst in, “What did you need me for?”
“Iskall? Seriously?”
“He was there that night and I have no reason to believe-”
“You really think Iskall-”
“It’s my best guess, everyone else was injured, and the magic had to choose the nearest healthy person, so it must be Iskall.”
“What must be Iskall?”
“Are you sure we’re talking about the same Iskall?”
“No, Iskall86,” Xisuma said, sarcastically, “Of course this Iskall, how many Iskalls do we know?”
“I still have no idea what we’re talking about, can -”
“No!” The void brothers turned to him and responded in sync. Xisuma pulled his brother into a side room, “Stay right there, thanks Iskall.”
“What?”
Xisuma exhaled and closed the door behind them, “Phew, OK, I have reason to believe that 13 years ago, Iskall was present the night that dad-y’know-and since everyone else there was either corrupted or injured, as the only uninjured person, dad’s spirit ended up inhabiting his body, but’s been so weak that it was only using Iskall as a means of staying alive, not influencing him or trying to take control of his body at all. Do you get me?”
“A little.”
“And I think I know the spell that will separate them, and give dad his old body back,” They went back into the main room with Iskall, “Should I do it now?”
“Blast ‘im,” Alex backed out of the room, putting a protective wall between him and the magic.
“WHAT?!”
A glowing green ball of energy swirled between Xisuma’s hands, and Iskall backed into the wall, “H-hey Xisuma, what are you doing?”
“This...shouldn’t hurt.”
Iskall held up a hand in a stop gesture, “SHOULDN’T?!”
Xisuma blasted him with the magic. Iskall glowed green, floated into the sir, then split into two people who fell down.
“I...think it...worked,” Xisuma muttered, collapsing to the floor.
Doomguy looked up, and noticed someone lying, unmoving, on the floor. His saving-people instincts kicked in, and he pulled himself over to the person. “C'mon, don’t be dead, don’t be dead,” he said, shaking them.
Someone was shaking Iskall. He sat up and opened his eyes, “Holy heck, it’s Doomguy!”
“You’re alive!” Doomguy said relieved, and pulled Iskall into a hug.
Absolutely starstruck, Iskall sat there, frozen. It’s Doomguy, I love Doom, Doomguy is right here, and he’s hugging me, it’s Doomguy! Iskall’s mind looped.
Pulling out of the hug, Iskall spotted Xisuma crumpled on the floor, “W-wait, I got-gotta check on my friend.”
Doomguy turned around, and spotted his son on the floor.
“Xisuma!” He stood up and stumbled toward him.
“Wait, you know Xisuma?”
“He’s my son. Well, your son, too. Our son.”
“Wha-”
“Short answer, I am you. You are me. We’re the same person.”
Looking at his hands, one thought crossed Iskall’s mind, I’m Doomguy. It was closely followed by “I HAVE A SON?”
“Two sons.”
“TWO SONS? And one of them is dying!” Iskall sprinted across the room and cradled Xisuma’s head, “I don’t know what to do!”
“Health potion?” Doomguy suggested.
“Oh, yeah,” Pulling a potion of healing out of his inventory, Iskall splashed it onto Xisuma. He held his breath and waited to see if it would work.
Xisuma opened his eyes. He sat up.
“Dad!” He jumped up, and buried his face in his dad’s chest plate, giving him a hug the same way he did when he was younger.
“I’m your dad, too,” Iskall said.
“You know?” Xisuma asked, breaking off the hug.
“Yeah, Doomguy told me. So give your poppa a hug,” Iskall uncrossed his arms and gave a very confused Xisuma a hug.
“Oh, OK,” Xisuma awkwardly pat Iskall’s back until he stepped away.
“Is Alex here?” Doomguy asked.
“He should be right outside, he didn’t want to be in the same room as an untested spell.”
“Wait, you didn’t test it? Then why did you cast it on me?” Iskall asked, panicked.
“How many people do we know that have another person living inside them?”
“Wels/Hels, I’m pretty sure Ren did for a while, a pregnant lady,” Iskall ticked off on his fingers.
“Different circumstances. Wels and Hels are one person, like two sides of a coin, Ren-I don’t know what happened with Grimdog or The Red King or whatever, but I definitely don’t want to mess with those, and did you just compare yourself to a pregnant woman?”
“Uhhh...nevermind.”
“You said Alex was just outside?”
“Yeah,” Xisuma pulled the door open, to reveal Alex sitting on a bench outside, drumming his fingers against the seat
“Did it work?”
“Yeah.” Stepping out of the doorway, Xisuma revealed their dad standing behind him.
“Hi, Alex.”
“Dad?”
“It’s me,” Doomguy sat next to his other son.
“Dad!” Alex hugged him, and they pulled Xisuma into the hug after a second. They sat there before the hug was interrupted by another pair of arms joining in.
“Family, together again,” Iskall sighed.
“What’s up with him?” Alex asked, glancing at Iskall.
“I’m part of the family, call me Dadskall.”
“OK...Dadskall, can we have awhile alone with our dad?”
“Oh, yeah. Sure. See you later.” Iskall trudged out of the room.
“I haven’t seen you guys in forever! How long was I…”
“15 years.”
“So that would put you guys in your mid-30s, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Has anything big happened in the last 15 years?”
Alex pulled off his helmet, “Nothing too bad. I was imprisoned for a bit of it,” he glared at his brother.
Xisuma also removed his helmet, “I said I was sorry, how many times do you want me to apologize?”
“I wasn’t saying it’s your fault, I was just making the point that-”
“I get it! I was an idiot and I didn’t listen to you when you were clearly right.”
“Just like old times,” Doomguy chuckled, he examined his son’s faces, “You look so much older, like real adults. I’m so sorry I missed out on the last 15 years, I would’ve loved to see you grow up.”
“It’s not like you could do anything about it.”
“I know you would have been here if you could.”
“Also how did you guys get those scars?”
“Someone needed to keep slaying the demons after you left,” Alex shrugged.
“I angered some Watchers years ago.”
“You angered some Watchers?” Doomguy asked, standing up.
“I just realized someone was right, but it was too late to save them.”
“Darn right, I was.” Alex and Xisuma also stood up.
“I...forgot how tall you were,” Doomguy said looking, at up at Alex, who was only a few inches taller.
“Oh, yeah. Xisuma was jealous he never got this tall.”
“No, I’m not!”
“Sure,” Alex smirked.
“So, anything else new?” Their dad intervened.
“Daisy’s still alive.”
“Should’ve guessed,” he chuckled.
“Oh! You’re a grandpa!”
“What?!”
“Yeah! I adopted a guy named xB. I’ll call him over, so you can meet!”
<Xisuma> hey xb, can you come on down to my base, I’ve got something to show you
<xBcrafted> ?
<xBcrafted> yeah, be there shortly
“How did you meet this xB?”
“I was doing some exploring between seasons, looking for a good seed, when I found a small single player world. xB was alone in there. Poor kid was only 13, didn’t know where his parents were, said he had been handling himself for the last 2 or 3 years, so I took him back to Hermitcraft with me. He’s a great kid, you’ll love him.”
“Xisuma has practically adopted the entire server.”
“Server? You’re an admin?”
“We both are. I’m main admin of Hermitcraft, Alex is the backup admin.”
“I’m so sorry I missed out on all of this stuff. I really wish I could have been there for you two.”
Something thumped into the outside of the building they were in, and the door opened, “Freakin’ rockets, stupid friggin’ elytra,” xB mumbled. “Oh, hey Uncle Alex, hey, dad.”
Doomguy gasped, “I love him already!”
“Wha-”
“xB, this is our dad, Doomguy.”
“Wait, I thought he was dead.”
“Wonky magic stuff.”
“OK then. I’m xBcrafted,” xB said, offering his hand for a handshake.
Doomguy scooped him up in a hug, “Hello, xB, you can call me Grandpa Flynn, or just Grandpa, or just Flynn, I don’t care. I have a grandson!”
“Nice-to-meet-you,” xB gasped.
“Dad, I don’t think he can breath.”
“Oh, right,” Flynn released his grandson, “sorry, got a little overexcited.”
“Nah, it’s fine. I’m glad you’re back.”
“Glad to be back.”
“Do you want to go meet the rest of the server? There’s just under 30 of us, total.”
“Oh, you’ll love all of them. There’s me, of course, but Hypno and Jevin and Wels and False are all set up near me, Stress and Gem are also pretty close, and Doc and Ren are just past them, and…” xB rambled as the other three grabbed their helmets.
“You ready?” Alex asked, pushing open the door.
“Let’s go, I want to meet the rest of your family.”

watched all of the untamed / cql in two weeks after my friend 1 told me abt mdzs a hundred years ago and my friends 2 and 3 tried to get me into cql for like two whole years and there are.
feelings.
very first scene is a very dramatic death in the middle of nightmare battle on sith planet land . i will forget abt it in the next tenish episodes and then will be very surprised when it becomes Extremely Painful
anyway magic flying gays and possession and human sacrifice! we are off to a great start
in retrospect, chaos goblin wei wuxian must have had a blast pretending to be so cRaZy and be as disruptive as he could as mo xuanyu lbr
listen. why is fire always evil coded. cant a magic clan wear red, black and orange and have flame motif while being wholesome?
For Legal Reasons These Are Not Zombies
i wish the politics of the sect were a bit clearer, especially at the beggining when the wen clan had sm power, was wen ruohan the chief cultivator? is that why they were so slow in responding to the attacks? im v confused by the pre yiling patriarch politics
fighting in the roof by the moonlight as way of flirtiiiiiiing. as i understand this is a wuxia/xianxia trope and honestly...... thank u for ur service
slight bullying and being a nuisance in general, as a way of flirting we love to see it
wwx: if i drink on the rooftop, thats not inside the cloud recesses! hmmm check and mate :D lwj: i will fuck u up so help me god   wwx: :0
i lov them
through hell or high water (quite literally) wei wuxian rem ains a trashfire gremlin till the end and i love him with my whole heart
in the pt subs wei wuxian calls jiang cheng a stubborn duck and i dearly wish that had come back
my opinions on almost every character goes from love to hate u - Hmm Me Like U - BABY. ILY. and i am Very Pleased w that. its been a while since i loved such a complete cast so much i think
no really. i WONT go into a detailed rant abt what i love about each of these characters and each of their relationships to each other. but i COULD.
some lan disciples in the loudest whisper ever: YEAH THATS THE JIN BASTARD MENG YAO HEARD THE GOT SUPER HUMILIATED BY HIS DAD LOL SURE HOPE HE DOESNT TAKE SLIGHTS TO HIS CHARACTER TO HEART
lan xichen, immediately: i must Love him
being into problematic ppl is in the Lan genetics, we come to realize
wen qing deserves so many awards for so many things but not snapping and just stabbing wen chao is at the top
that scene at lan qirens class where wwx talks about using resentful energy to fight a violent spirit. exquisite.
It establishes Good Student lan wangji, wei wuxian as curious and questioning and not afraid of taboo,  lwj sees that wwx is not, in fact, a dumb ass hes just a Dumbass,  shows us the audience (esp. a western audience) how shocking the idea of disrupting the dead/dying and controlling resentful energy actually is,  the theoretical foreshadow arguing, everyone else like ‘shUT UP’,  “and how could you ensure that the resentful energy would obey you and not hurt other?” “well i havent thought that far” and of course, lan qiren just straight up lobbing a hard object at wwx head,. chefs kiss
fellas is it gay to bother the hot rule obessessed nerd from ur school and make drawings of him with flowers in his hair and then hide gay porn in his book to antagonize him and ask him to hold ur hand and be ur friend and talk to him all the time and get him drunk and give him bunnies bc you know he likes them and give him a lantern and always want his attention and dedicate yourself to getting him to smile-
and after all of that wwx rly said oh i Admire him, aksd like yeah we all were there in high school buddy
i have Learned. caves = gay.
accidental marriage +beint physically tied together with the sacred married ribbon+ gay panic+foreshadowing+bunnies! in the cave (1)
the story abt lan yi and baoshan sanren tho. i would like to see it
early days wen bros pull my heart strings like a guqin
EVERYTHING about the lantern scene; disaster hets jiang yanli and jin zixuan; how wwx made lwj a bunny lantern. how soft and touched lwj was. wwx gleefully pointing out he was smiling and lwj IMMEDIATELY PULLING HIW SWORD ON HIM LMAO. tragically foreshadowy promises to do right by pepople, living without regrets. lwjs 'oh no do i love him??' face. just. all of it.
i have it on good acc that in the novel lwj is explicitly Repressed Gay Panicked Big Horny which is delightful and rly Adds to the performance
baby lwj is really just conceal dont feel dont let them know u have EMOTIONS (derogatory)
jiang cheng rly went "why dont.u go play with HIM if u like him so much"
jc and wwx have big BIG annoying sibling energy dont think too hard abt it or youll cry
lotus pier is soo pretty :((((((((((((((((
up until episode 13 you could think this could be a magical ancient chinese gays pride n prejudice w swords and shenanigans ................youre just not prepared for the game of thrones of it all
seriously ha ha ha i cried so much w this show my eyes genuinely swelled up . like. physically. fun timez fun timez
that being said, its hilarious that wen xu goes to cloud recesses like 'come out or ill kill all these hostages' and then DOESNT WAIT FOR AN ASWER AND KILLS THEM ALL IMMEDIATELY. do u know how blackmail works sir
would like to make it recorded that from day one i was like 'CALL A GODDAMN CULTIVATION G20 THIS ASSHOLE SECT IS LITERALLY MASSACRING YALL!!' and it took them like 3 or 4 massacres to do anything and they STILL sent their heirs into their territory  LIKE
when wwx cites the gusu lan rules to wen chao tho. that rebel/attention whore/cutie pie 'look lan zhan i DID memorize the rules after all' ‘also a big fuck you to the wen sect :D :D’ sweet spot that scene achieves . delicious
all the cultivator young masters being petty af even though they are practically prisoners at the cave is hilarious and i love them
hurt and comfort + gay mistunderstandings + watsonian gay declaration music + accidental evil acquisition! at the cave (2)
its like where do i start? the fact theyre both trapped and kind of heavily injured inside an isolated cave with a murder turtle? wwx gay panicking lwj into coughing up bad blood? lwj being jealous as wwx babbles abt mianmian? telling him he shouldnt play with people and wwx saying he never played him? wwx going Oh. I See what is happening. YOU like mianmian, and lwj absolute done face ??? (iconic) wwx touching the sacred married ribbon Again? the telepathic communication? the sword? WEI WUXIAN ASKING LAN WANGJI TO SING TO HIM AS HE IS PASSING OUT AND LWJ SINGING HIM. THE SONG. HE WROTE. FOR WWX. AND THAT HE CALLED. THEIR SHIP NAME????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
they are SO insufferable pleeeeease
in the words of my friend 1 : “CQL is so gay we were all amazed how it got past the censors Ofc unfortunately it can't be novel level gay But they did their best And we love them for it”
in the theme of songs THIS OST. WUJI HAS BEEN LIVING IN MY MIND RENT FREE SINCE I FIRST HEARD IT the whole ost is so so sO beautiful.
the costuming in this is also soooo exquisite. the embroidery? the fabrics? the details? how every sect and clan has a distinct style and architecture? (also ik they based each off of dif periods in chinese history which is REALLY fucking cool) just chefs kiss
the direction too!. i enjoy the unusual camera movements and i think they give it that Vibe, also their composition is PARTICULARLY good when it comes to telling the subtext through position of camera/position of character (like nhs off to the side in scenes he at first glance doesnt need to be/ how lwj is often centered when hes Jealous Yearning at wwx being affectionate w other ppl, wwx return from burial mounds etc)
ik madam yu is like Badass Milf Check and shes not getting any mom of the year awards but im delighted at how messy she is. IMAGINE that woman on tiktok
you better have enjoyed gay cave (2) bc its Just Pain from here on out!
jiang fengmian and madame yu win the Most Dramatic Way to show they do care about each other, actually ..... ever :)
i thought jiang yanli jiang cheng and wei wuxian forcing themselves to escape yunmeng barely holding on after their parents are killed was going to be the height of pain in this show. ha.
the family dynamics in general on this showwwww, both blood/ adopted/ found families, brotherly bonds and lifelong friendships just. rly. truly. fucked me up. theyre all so important and complicated and well rounded and beautiful and tragic
and beyond being a Win For the Gays im so glad the relationships w wwx and jiang yanli/ wen qing were NOT changed from platonic bc they are so much better like that imo. like maybe if we didnt Live In A Society it wouldnt be so, but the fact wwx and others can love and value them so much and theres nothing romantic or sexual abt it is like. so refreshing. especially @ jyl, with the way he and jc are overprotective of her and shes such a nurturing/care taker figure for them, it would just not vibe as well if they made it romantic
i love that this is a story abt Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch aka Actual Satan/Boogey Man/Village With/Public Enemy Number One , my dude is literally a necromancer who only dresses in black and has evil smokey black tendrils wafting out of him, but the really edgy one is still jiang cheng, pastel purple fashion icon
and speaking of best/worst siblings wei wuxian and jiang cheng *immediately starts crying*
The Golden Core Transfer i just. no thots only tears
wen qing and wen ning putting themselves in so much danger just.... to help them. wn saving jc from wen chao. wq finding a way to get wwx to transfer his core. like thinking about the monumental work these two did to help wwx and jyl and jc... jyl trying so fucking hard to be strong and keep on moving and giver her little brothers comfort after losing everything... jiang cheng. losing his parents and his home and his ability to do anything abt it and his complete desperation and lack of self worth and turning on them with agression  when he didnt realize all that they did for him ... hhhhhhhhhhhhh
me, pointing at the whole cast “i just LOVE them mom!!!”
its sad tho, that BARELY ANY of the women have like.... actual important conversations let alone relationships with each other at all in the story. and like wq and jyl have stayed at the same place for extended periods of time, where wq actively took care of her TWICE,  and still! not one measly convo, nothing! ................ .𝓌ₕᵧ
everyone in this show need a good sip of Self Worth and Stop Sacrificing Yourself juice
ngl the sword flying looks very dumb
“a-cheng, please bring a-xian back.” “i will, i promise.” ;-;
the whole calling each other by the More Intimate Version of the name, first as teasing and later as true intimacy. mmmhmmm yes
untamed where everythings the same but wwx evil flute song is eoeo
related that scene when wwx comes back from the burial mounds for the first time w demonic cultivation and he acts all formal and calls lwj hanguang-jun and keeps being evasive and distant and mean and soooooo................. facetious
and how hes kind of desperately trying to keep intense lwj at bay (A FIRST) and avoiding actually talking to either of them and its all tension ughhh and then he MOCKS his and lwjs relationship, he jokes w him in this like... mean echo of their usual ~banter~ oof
and like!!! uncertain but so relieved jc who just HUGS him w no reservations for once and its not like he isnt just as worried as lwj abt wwx and what hes doing, but he chooses in that moment to enjoy getting him back first and mmhmMMMmMm yes (maybe my favorite scene in the whole show? MAYBE SO. )
highkey hurt me but also. i might be into mean wwx. i will take no criticism.
lan zhans sad eyes tho :(((((((((
on one hand i wish we could have seen what happened at the burial mounds but on the other the timeskip adds so much flair to his return so im hnnn
also i love that hes been missing for 3 months reappears kinda melancholic and bloodthirsty and knowing malign tricks and jc is like 'so. are u sad bc of lan wangji'
when ur bae survived the war but he thinks ur evil/ might be evil so you cant kiss :///
hmmm talking at the rooftop under the moonlight not mentioning everything that stands between usssss
they are the two jades of lan and we’ll be the two heroes of yunmeng is the type of line u dont even need to know whats gonna happen to know thats gonna be sad
when they fight wen ruoshan at the nightless city i thought that was the battle we see at the first ep and its not and its so easy and theyre all like ‘yayy we won go wwx!’ i was just. SCREAMS WHAT is gonna HAPPEN
so like. post burial mounds/sunshot campaign pre yiling patriarch wwx is like. ultra arrogant, ultra mocking, peak lil shit and it gave me e v e r y t h i n g i wanted
even tho having the wen prisoners at the targets at phoenix mountain and still having wwx and jzx shooting the arrows was???? so.... tone deaf
wwx: fucking w demonic energy   jyl: he has never done anything wrong in his life, ever <3 <3 (mood)
the parallels between meng yao/wei wuxian (and even xue yang a bit?) are Seen and they are Valid
wwx post burial mounds: can yall SHUT UP abt the goddamn sword (suibian left the chat)
LIKE truly, we talk abt the angst and yearning with wangxian. but what abt wwx and suibian. xianbian / xianqing angst and comfort 100k
take a shot everytime someone coughs up blood
zidian is simply the coolest spiritual weapon rip to suibian and chenqing and bichen and sendou and baixa........ but tis the truth
cons: everyones families died in a nightmare war! everyones homes burned to the ground! everyone is traumatized! pros: everyone gets cooler clothes and weapons!!
wen ning and a-yuan and yanli bestest babes squad dont touch me rn
everyone: brooding and fighting                                                                wq and jyl: why dont you try some acupunture/drinking some soup and calm down huh? how abt that bitch??
showing the battle/massacre at the nightless city first was genius actually bc then everytime we have a cute scene w yunmeng bros and theyre like 'we'll be together forever! uwu' youre like oh. oh no. oh no no no.
justice vs lawfulness vs means and ends 👁
jc: stay in the right path and practice the art of the sword                        wx: yeah thats not gonna happen chief
my reaction to wwx renouncing to the sect politics to help the wens was just that elmo burning gif in succession
the dramatic rain. wen qing desperately calling out to wen ning. the ghosts/puppets killing the guards. how terrifying wn actually was while wwx was controlling him :( lwj goeing after him to try and stop him and then he just; he Sees him and understands him even if he cant actually do anything about it other than let them go.
“there must be somewhere in this earth we can go to :(((((((((”
"IF I HAVE TO FIGHT THEM, I'D RATHER IT BE YOU. DYING BY YOUR HANDS WOULD AT LEAST BE WORTH IT." oh my god oh my god oh my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooddddddd
also lwjs umbrella is white w black smoke.. .  . nice
yiling patriarch / demonic farming burial mounds settlement is like one of my favorite concepts. they an "EVIL" FARMING COMMUNITY LED BY THE VILLAGE WITCH COME ON
they planted TURNIPS and LOTUS FLOWERS and ONE (1) baby and made lanterns and a common hall :(((((((
wen qing and wei wuxian, baddest bitches and genius science best friends i absolutely LOVED to see it. they rly went ‘is anyone gonna sibling/project partner that’ and didnt wait for an answer
both wwx and jyl getting lotus ponds at the burial mounds and in lanling bc they miss lotus pier ;;;;;;;w
;;;;; wish jyl had actually gone into the burial mounds. we were robbed of jyl and wq meeting again and jyl meeting a-yuan and seeing the settlement and the homes and all ;w; at least jc did go, stab wounds and broken arms and all
wwx like... having thrown his whole life away to help the wens (yeah the sect leaders and jin guangshan in particular wanting his stygian tiger amulet was an Element but still) and not.... necessarily regretting it, but grappling with all of the consequences of it... becoming moody and drepressed at times, missing his family and lotus pier and his friends and probably simply missing being around people and causing trouble, extrovert that he is, lashing out at the wens and at a-yuan, just in general the whole messiness of that experience
the way the resentful energy does affect his temperament is rly nice bc its not too in your face,(i mean outside of the Shaky Hands of Rage) but like he clearly has a much lesser control on his anger and impulsivity (tall order) than both before bm and after hes ressurected
on that note A-YUAN BABIEST BABY BOY BEST BOY
lan zhan being like oh hey there wei ying fancy meeting u and our son here. just passing by u know how it is hmmmmMm and then PLOT TWIST having defied orders to go see him and being punished for it. oof;;
they habent seen each other in like? a year? and now theyre tgt 10 seconds and are already parenting a child together
also lwj rly kneels down in the snow way too much to be healthy
wwx: calm down guyssss i wont lose control of demonic cultivation omgggg  .   spoiler alert: he loses control of demonic cultivation
did u enjoy cute children? good bc now the Real Pain Begins
jiang yanli and jin zixuan rly out there APROPRIATING both disaster gays AND bury ur gays huh ;w;
i KNEW jin lings birthday was gonna fuck something up but the GASP that left my body when wwx lost control of wn and killed jin zixuan .. . .
im sorry and thank you aaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaAAAAaAAAAA
when wen ning and wen qing were telling wwx their plan i was saying NO NO NO NO NO NO out loud in despair
also can we talk abt how wq is definetely talking about only the both of them surrending themselves but then? everyone else just surrenders w them? IT MAKES NO SENSE LIKE WHY WOULD THEY what would be the Point
sometimes there are some pretty gaping jumps in logic and continuity that are just like                     ?          ?
wwx: oh so when you try to murder me its justified but when i survive through dark magic and murder all of you its a "war crime"
unsurprisingly, his most feral, most spiraling moment talking to the sect leaders on the roof and attacking them and even fighting lan zhan is among my favorite scenes... its like, so painful to watch but also   so       thrilling   (and maybe my wen bbs dying arose some resentful energy in me what can i say)
and its JUST, all they ever wanted was to do good but then... war. and trauma. and hubris.
jiang cheng on the ground clearly thorn between what to do and feel is a Mood, lets just say
i was already crying when jyl showed up, but if i wasnt-
i suffered SO MUCH through this series trying to figure out WHY jc would kill wwx. and when i understood. its somehow not as bad as i thought and also MUCH MUCH WORSE
a look into my group chat during the last flashback episodes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO ANYWAY. after the BLOOD BATH and RIPPING YOUR HEART OUT and FEEDING IT TO YOU  the untamed goes ‘ayy back to the present!! tu du dud ud du’
literally it ends a quarter into an episode and then KEEPS GOING i had to pause and stare blankly at the ceiling for an hour
babie cultivators and detective soulmates . i do need some cute after All of That
(not that the pain is over LOL)
lwj is significantly less emotionally repressed in the present and its delightful. hes just ALL IN with wwx. and not just in the ‘i would and have killed various men and risked my reputation for you’ but also ‘ur tired here have a drink i brought it up cause i know u like it and it want you to be happy, always’
“when everyone praised me and wanted my power, you were the only one that challenged me. now that everyone hates me and wants me dead, youre the only one that stands by my side.” hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
and just filling in the blanks how lan zhan searched for him. for all of those 16 years he searched for him and was punished for it and raised a-yuan, the only survivor of the burial mounds settlement, as his own in gusu......
and jiang cheng.  being the tough love uncle . having raised the yunmeng jiang clan from the rubble all alone, his whole family dead, some of it on the blame of his own brother, his siblings, his closest friends gone.......and only jin ling there needing his guidance.
THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY
great now i made myself sad
and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all???  amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??
JUST. THE CHARACTERS. AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS. MAN. UGH. GOD.
and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it
enough crying lets talk abt wwx sleeping at the jingshi with lwj and wearing his under garment for a minute 🙏
jin ling just has that Was Raised by JC energy tho lmao i love him
babie cultivator squad is the perfect ammount of cute and comedic relief while still bearing the weight? of the narrative in a way, both from sizhui and jin lings existences, and also. like. how do i put this. they feel hopeful? they were born after a war, they came of age at a time of relative peace, they dont hold on so closely to the resentments of their parents/father figures, they are specifically shown as more accepting and open minded. and its like.... Hope for the future
one of the ?? things  i love the most is the fact that the main cast are often in situations where theyre hunted/running but they like. never wear disguises... just going around in their gorgeous expensive clan clothes and hair ornaments and distinctive spiritual weapons.... maybe w a straw hat on, just for kicks
wwx teacher 🥺🥺🥺
so this is why its called Yi City Misery huh
a-qing is such. an icon. im so sad. my girl even knew to leave xys dumb self rotting by the road but no one listens to her thats why theyre all dead or sad
her and xue yang measuring each other up was so entertaining lmao
its the funniest thing when hes like. HERES MY SAD STORY. FOR WHY IM A SADISTIC MURDERER. I BROKE MY HAND ONCE.
like ok someone broke his hand in a horrible way, and like Poverty, i get it but also like.......... that lost the brunt of a proper sob story like, 50 sadistic murders ago bby
and i love that xingchen does not entertain that for a second hes like ‘not ?????? good enough???’ and the best thing is he wasnt even like 'u hadto be the bigger person' or sth but ' well then break that dudes hand back, rip his arm off for i care, what do the rest of us have to do w anything???”
anjo sensato :(
xue yang is like..... the sexy sadistic evil version of a himbo..... a meanbo...
the fucked upness of xy’s feelings for xxc/ xxc and sl feelings for each other... like my dude literally gave his bf HIS EYES. and xy getting so attached to xxc .... the fucked up fake domesticity.... having him hurt sl..... then desperately trying to bring him back ...................... oof
song lan........... literally had his eyes AND tongue removed, his bfs eyes put in place, was almost killed, turned into a puppet by his bf unknowingly, manipulated by xy, sees his bf killing himself in despair.... and STILL finds the strenght to get up from there, and keep on traveling and helping people and attempting to fix xxcs soul.......... like, my man. damn.
wangxian looking at songxiao and seeing an Actually more painful parallel for themselves. ft. that Color Coding.
THE A-YUAN/SIZHUI REVEAL PUNCHED ME IN THE HEART but in a good way for a change
should have know that he would be the Best Boy the cute one w all the braincells
the butterfly AND the bunny lantern. i see how it is
u know is very convenient that no one can see the stark black veins on wen nings neck, ever
BAT WEN NING
wns face when lwj comes into wwx room like ‘:0 omg did u two finally get your shit together? good for you master wei good for u’
(they didnt) (yet)
DISASTER DRUNK LWJ. JUST. THRUST SOME CHICKENS TO SHOW UR RESSURECTED BAE THAT U LOVE THEM.
i have absolutely no idea WHY they gave lwj the same punishment for fighting his own sect/allies to protect the burial mounds as when they got drunk on cloud recess class days.... like? its such a ... emotional continuity error again
also is lwj gonna get an actual friend besides wwx , ever
mianmian marrying and having a family and a cute life after saying FUCK U AND UR SYSTEM TOO in a much less unhinged and dramatic way than wwx......... fills me w joy
also lol the idea that like. her husband not knowing that shes friends w satan/the boogey man/the village witch is hilarious
i love nie mingjue bc hes the resident Though Guy but also the most dramatic bitch in this show and thats Saying Something
jin ling cant have one uneventful relative can he
the fact that everyone present already knew “mo xuanyu” was wwx at the stairs is so funny, their faces are like ‘oh............ wow. that. sure is a development. shock”
in the tradition of extremely loud whispers wwx tells lwj with twelve guards standing like one meter away from them: HEY PSH LAN ZHAN PRETEND IM FORCING YOU TO STAY W ME DO IT
oh my god oh my god
the absolute Yearning on his face when he leaves wwx and a-yuan at the burial mounds and refuses to stay for dinner was already Enough but the fact?? they brought it back?? to this declaration of love?? their expressions??????? strike me dead right now just go ahead
lFor Legal Reasons We Cant Kiss but we will have a very sappy declaration of love and trust and look at each other in way that is the actualization of 💞💘💗💖💓💘💞💗💖💘💗💖💕💞
also icb all the sect leaders and guards are standing there watching them say they like like each other with a dozen swords pointing at their neck
i enjoyed the depiction of the fickle public perception and how easily it can be used to scapegoat people. when the sect leaders turn on jgy and wwx knows thats its more for convenience than anything else...
poor lxc is literally like 'oh so when YOUR problematic boyfriend gets called evil its a misunderstanding but when its MY problematic bf-'
ok like i cant get over nmj let jgy play a song that messed with his temperament at all, like maN u KNEW he might be shady wth
wwx: “hey dont say anything bad abt lan zhan hes not an arrogant dick, thats just his face.
ME ON THE OTHER HAND"
the cultivators as wwx is poking holes in their narrative is literally *nazaré meme*
"wei wuxian-!" "what did i break your leg, too?" not to be problematic but i laughed so hard
not as hard as "you dont have the rank to talk to me " tho
i Enjoy that, over the course of story, wwx sees that... theres nothing truly to Do, but move on. he saw how his arrogance and his mistakes hurt others, and hes trying to fix what he can, but he already did die for his mistakes and there are things he cant fix and that's. just how it is. even towards jgy, the narrative doesn't go gleefully and completely with "lets make THEM pay bc theyre the big bad" bc its not that simple, and it wouldn't lead anywhere but more pain...
re him and jiang cheng and the wens and kinda. isnt that what nhs did? scheming to displace jgy out of revenge more than any justice and doing so in the most painful way?
idk if that actually makes sense im truly just babbling
i thought the scene at the lotus pond would be CUTE but the context was PAIN again
jiang cheng finding out about his golden core and his conflict with wwx at the guanyin temple .... destroyed me but in a nice way kinda.... same way it destroys him look at his face oh god
and. the fact??? he sacrificed himself for wwx?? first?? and he'll probably never tell anyone much less wwx???? keeps me up at night
i havent decided if the neckbreak transition between jgy does sth super Evil or does he he does OR Does He yes he does O R does heeeee is sth i dislike or not
jin guangyao and wei wuxians most interesting parallel is that... theyve both seen 'hmm hey this system is fucked up' and wwx went 'so fuck it all i will renounce it and challenge it' and jgy went 'so fuck it i will use all of it to my advantage and manipulate it to my goals and whims'
the fact jgys mom was actually great and he loved her and his whole issue w it was more than simply being ashamed of being a bastard kinda got me ngl
never trust a dude with a fan.
nhs and jgy: the first rule to a convoluted and decades spanning violent revenge plot is to have fun and be yourself!
when a-yuan finally FINALLY remembers ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;-;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; wen ning has someone in his family back and a-yuan has someone to talk abt his wen family and wwx has him back bc he survived and lwj raised him anD HES THEIR SON. THEYRE MARRIED AND HAVE A SON. UGH.
and theyre allowed to heal. everyone is allowed to try and recover and be happy
netflix put all of the 3 endings on top of each other and it looks kinda weird actually BUT I DONT EVEN MIND :’’’’’’’’’)
the gasp that left me when lwj says ‘wei ying’ and wwx turns.........
there was also a screen with ‘thank you mxtx for creating these characters, we hope their wishes come true’ and i might. have cried then too. maybe.
that was . a ride. as is proven by this behemot of a ramble clearly i just really needed and Outlet. i am currently trying to convince dumb monkey brain to not consume the other medias of mdzs immediately bc i REALLY need to like. live. a life. and take care of real responsibilities.  *longest oh boi ever*

i try to put alot of respecc on senpai nolan, since he was one of my inspirations to be a film director back in high school, but also you can't ever deny he hot af tho OwO
(i say senpai as i joke tho ;;w;; *wheeze*)
ok sit down story time.
same here, he is still the reason. I always liked movies and going to the theater and when I first saw a movie of his in theater, interstellar, pretty much everything changed, and since then, bc of that evening and all - the experience - , I wanted to be a film director too. I could literally spend all day talking abt that day, that evening that I went to see interstellar with my parents, of how I felt watching the movie, feeling every bit of it, falling in love with everything that I saw and heard, being completely taken away to somewhere else and struck with so much, so many things in this movie that I take extremely personal. I say and I am not joking - I entered that theater as someone, and left as someone else - I remember how I felt, I remember the cold air hitting my face covered in tears, my eyes wide open while I was shaking and having hickups. when I think of a moment to come back in time to and feel everything again, I think of that evening.
I still have the photo of the ticket, (I didn't keep the actual ticket cause it's that thin yellow paper that fades away) I found it last year in my Google photos backups. this movie is my BABYYY and I'll forever protect it from anyone, be damned I'll protect it even from its creator if I have to lmao.
I never really paid attention to the person making the movie, I just went to see bc I knew "it's the movie from the person who made batman" oh I loved the batman movies, yeah I'll watch it. well
and it's a KARMA STORY too... bc I saw first time, interstellar trailer on July 31st, in imax, when I went to see guardians of the galaxy, and guess what? trailer came on, I completely ditched and shitted on it telling my friend next to me "eh another boring astronaut movie that goes to the moon and everything goes to shit, conspiracy theory bullshit cliche movie" bruh... to 5 months later... and I get completely obliterated by this movie. (imagine that scene of Loki getting smacked by b 13 in the first episode of Loki - I am Loki and the movie is b 13)
I remember two years after seeing it, I got to write and direct this project for history class in high school, it was so amazing, it was so simple and so silly but I loved doing it, I remember my teacher congratulating me and I started to cry bc I was just so happy and I kept thinking of my fav movie and just being overwhelmed by thinking if "this is what I'll do with my life". with time, bc I am moron that doesn't look up shit, I become a fan very slowly... so when tenet trailer released it was all excitement around and after that I am here...
in the gutter, bc I started to dig into this guy's movies a lot, I thought "oh ok this guy made my fav movie that helped me to go through so much during extremely hard time in my life, I am gonna check out the rest"
I did?? I checked too much and now I am here calling him "daddy material" bc he is, as you say, very hot 😭 did finding out he is the voice behind those creepy breathing sounds from tenet ost help? yes or definitely? (EMMA HOW'D YOU LET HIM DO THIS TO ME??? DID HEAR THOSE SOUNDS? CONTROL YOUR MAN GODDAMNIT)
when I found out abt the book Tom shone wrote I became obsessed to read, I found it online for #free started reading it in March 2021, but since I am an espetacular procrastinator in reading, it's March 2022 and I still even got to the 5th chapter, which is about inception, I made my first credit card so I couldn't buy a copy, I cried when it arrived cause the book is GORGEOUS. it's all red, hard cover, so pretty, has this hot stamping on the spine, has even the specs in the last page abt the book project ( I am a graphic designer, I love to see all those details). I've been all heart eyes over this book since it arrived.
I cried when Jess posted this video on her ig showing the interstellar script in this hard cover format in all red (my fav color) and she was also talking abt him I was like 😍😭😍😭😍😍😭😭😍😍😭😍😍😭😭
ppl like this grows on me, passionate ppl who love what they do, that cares about the experience, the whole process, that craftsmanship of the work, who has vision and works to bring it to life, it's insanely amazing what he does, it's this incredible amount of love and care involved in every step of making a movie that warms my heart and soul, I see it through his movies, the echo of this man's passion, I just love it so much. and since I started seeing all movie's behind the scenes, you just finally get it. he is so focused on his works, he does it so well, he cares about the quality, and oh... he is such a sweet humble man, I can't get enough of him.
oh boy end of story, this ended up being so long

i love your stories so much!! and was wondering if you can give some writing tips perhaps? 🥺👉🏻👈🏻
Breaking this up into sections for you + putting it under a cut cause I went overboard. 😅
General Writing Tips
These work for both academic and creative writing.
Make an outline.
It doesn't have to be a formal one, but having at least a general idea of the scenes you want to include is helpful. If I know my fic is going to be a longer one (like Don't Hesitate was and my current WIP is), I break down the larger story beats i want to hit on a piece of paper or my iPad.
It's good to know what you're planning to do, in a any piece I usually have a single specific scene I want to do and depending on what it is, I might either just do the scene I want to or turn into something longer.
Draft, draft, draft.
I cannot stress the importance of going through and reviewing your work. This is a big part of any sort of writing.
Your first idea isn't always your best idea. As you work on a piece you might find your original idea is holding you back, focus shifts! Don't be afraid to let your work change as you go. It's not always easy to let go of your original idea but if you find it's not working, you have to let it change. Sections will need to be rewritten, things have to be readjusted to fit with later sections. Reread for clarity while you're drafting and look to see if this makes sense to you, or reads well to you. If you can't follow it and you wrote it, chances are your reader can't either. Did you use the same phrase again and again? Find and search it on your doc to double check.
Sometimes you have to cut things you really like because they just don't contribute to the fic anymore. Save those bits and use them somewhere else!In a lot of my longer pieces I will write a paragraph, realize that's not where it should go and cut/paste it into another part of the doc because the pacing/scene doesn't make sense where I had it originally, but it works somewhere else.
If you're stuck, skip around, come back and then stitch the bits you have written together.
Don't Focus on a Word Count
This might be controversial, but I'm of the opinion just because something is longer does not make it better. Some works are short, and that's okay! I very rarely try to aim for a specific count of words unless it's for a prompt exchange or a personal challenge. I write till I feel the piece is done. Some stories require more words, some require less.
Don't Hesitate is a great example of this again, because all I wanted to do was a bittersweet first kiss fic, but jumping write into the kiss wouldn't get the full effect I wanted. Meanwhile, with Old Habits all I wanted to do was write dumb comedic kisses, we didn't need a 2k preamble.
Get Someone You Trust to Edit
My go to editor for the past six years or so is one of my good friends. She has edited everything from college papers to my fics for me before I post them to read for clarity, find any funky phrases or misspelled words I missed, and I do the same for her when she asks! A fresh set of eyes makes a world of a difference. Find someone to trade fics with or ask a friend! They might have good suggestions you never thought of, or be able to tell what you were going for when you don't even know yourself.
I also rely on my friends a lot to brainstorm and talk my ideas out before I start because it helps me think and figure out what I need. It's super common for me to text someone and say "im gonna spitball at you, that okay?" and then spend twenty minutes chatting through my ideas.
Have Reference Material
For my 13sar fics, I regularly go back and review/screenshot videos of the dialogue to make sure I am staying consistent with story events, character nuance and small details. You don't have to go crazy, but it is really helpful to have your source material to go back to and check yourself against. In non creative writing I always had a pile of papers highlighted with my own notes on the margins.
Take Breaks/Pace Yourself
Know your own limits, and if you are working and working on something and it's not coming out leave it alone and come back to it. I'm really bad at this personally because when I get an idea in my head I want to see it through but sometimes you gotta step back! It's not healthy to keep working on things and overwork yourself. Stretch, get up go for a walk.
Write What You Want to Write
Don't focus on what people want to read. Focus on what you like. Find a topic, a scene, anything that you are passionate about and the rest will follow. The only time I write fic for other people is when I am writing for a friend. Even prompt requests I only take open ended ones, if I am not interested in writing it it's not gonna happen. I know it's super hard and I get really anxious sometimes about letting people down now, or worrying people won't like something but then I step back and remind myself this is a hobby and I'm doing it for fun.
Play to Your Strengths
You shouldn't try to write like me, you should try to write like yourself. Find what skills you have and use them to your advantage!
I can't give you a step by step list to write like me, because nobody in the world has my background! We're all unique. Everything I've listed so far I know because I'm not a beginner anymore! I'm in my twenties and have come from a strong academic writing background.
I took on an intensive course load in high school, and then went onto college for a sociology degree. I very rarely had test based finals and at the end of each semester would have five 10-15 page papers to submit. Straight up some of my skills come from having read and studied the works of anthropologist Clifford Geertz. I am not saying you should read anthropology/sociology texts. Unless you like that sort of thing lol
I also have 6+ years of theater experience (acting & directing), I use this all the time for my writing. When I think about a scene, I think about how I would work through it as an actor, how the character would move, and how would things read to an audience. The GOTE ("Goal, Obstacle, Tactics, and Expectation") method of acting by Robert Cohen is really useful hear if you want a more technical breakdown of what I mean by that.
This leads to a lot of what we called "business" in acting, doing small tiny things while you talk or move around on stage to give the sense you're a real human. I don't have to think or try on these sort of things because they're in my skill set already!
Things I do Personally
As in, these are not transferable skills this is just the stuff I do while working on projects.
Find a Vibe™️
I come into any fic with usually a goal I want to hit, a line of dialogue or something I want to capture. Just like, the general idea of a feeling a song even if the lyrics don't match up. Make a mood-board, a playlist, just find something you wanna do. It's less about the actual words on the page and what you're aiming to do.
Look to things that inspire you
Don't Hesitate got written because I wanted to write a fic that captured the same vibe as a scene in Macross Frontier, where two characters have a bittersweet kiss before the final battle and that scene still has me fucked up six years after watching it.
My current WIP is doing the same thing but with the song All I've Ever Known from Hadestown. Two characters working through loneliness, the sudden feeling of falling in love and the frustration that feeling can bring on sometime.
I don't plagiarize them word for word, but these are scenes that inspire me! I also patchwork quilt ideas together. Using Don't Hesitate again, I also ended up pulling from a bunch of shoujo anime, Toradora, Sailor Moon, Yona of the Dawn, Princess Tutu...specific scenes I enjoy to blend and create something new.
Goof Off While You Write
I name my documents stupid things, I write dumb placeholder dialogue or vague sentiments like "insert better word here", I make memes when I'm struggling and roast myself and my predictable tastes.
I spent twenty minutes texting a friend Juro's name with different letters spelt out and then the "fuck your chickenstrips" vine saying it was Juro during destruction. Just have fun with it!
Listen to J-POP On Loop for Hours at a Time
i am not kidding I do this all the time. Perfume, AKB48, anime idol osts, Sailor Moon's OPs/ED, vocaloid songs. I like technopop and Japanese is good because it usually doesn't distract my brain since I only know random phrases, but still know what the meaning og the song is.
I love music, it helps me vibe out.
Thank you so much for enjoying my work ;o;
I hope this is useful to you in some way! I'm so sorry it's so long winded but I am overly thorough and love to teach people ;w;

House Isekai: A Realm Reborn - Part 1, Old Places and New Faces (1 of 2)
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
Upon their return to Fodlan, Kazuma, Rean, Towa, and Aigis have found that it has changed drastically. Whether it was for better or worse, was unknown.
All they knew was to find Sitri, who had requested House Isekai's aid...
[Life at Garreg Mach Monastery - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
Kazuma, Towa, Rean, and Aigis walked awkwardly through the crowds of students and guards, trying not to stare at their technology.
(Aigis) "Their devices seem...eerily similar to yours, Rean."
(Rean) "Arcus units and Soldats..."
Rean looked at the bipedal golems with swords and shields walking through the courtyard. It looked like students were trying to use them properly.
(Kazuma) "Soldats? Those things kinda like Valimar?"
(Towa) "Yes, but far easier to produce and a lot less strong, to put it simply."
(Rean) "How did they even get something like this? In our world, they took so many years to develop, alongside orbal technology..."
(Towa) "And their version of arcus units, didn't they look like the crystals from the Zanado tower?"
(Aigis) "Perhaps we should ask these questions to Sitri. Though, I am unsure of how to find her, since we do not have the proper clearance."
(Kazuma) "Hmph. Not to mention we aren't students, I'm pretty sure we're weirding people out just by being here."
Towa turned to where the Cathedral used to be, only to see a massive hangar full of the bipedal golems and guards from all three nations populating it.
(Towa) "The Cathedral was going to be my guess, but I don't think that's an option."
(Rean) "Maybe the listening hall?"
(Kazuma) "Are we even going to be allowed up there?"
(Familliar Woman's voice) "...Oh my goodness! It really is you guys!"
Everyone turned around to the woman's voice and were greeted by an old friend.
Tumblr media
(Kazuma) "Merce-! HOLY SHIT!"
Mercedes was accompanied by two of the massive golems, armed with a shield and lance just as big as them.
(Rean) "WOAH!"
(Towa) "EEP!"
(Mercedes) "Haha, oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to frighten anyone!"
(Aigis) "It is amazing how that got behind us without anyone hearing them-"
(Rean) "U-Um, it's good to see you again Mercedes!"
(Towa) "AHEM! What are you doing here?"
(Kazuma) "More importantly, why are those golem things following you around?!"
(Mercedes) "I am simply a visitor, just like you four! Sitri thought it best to have bodyguards accompany me. Those bodguards happen to be the form of Knights."
(Towa) "...Knights sure have changed since we last saw them, huh?"
(Aigis) "Speaking of which, do you happen to know where Sitri is?"
(Mercedes) "Indeed I do! Would you like me to take you to her?"
(Rean) "Yes please."
Rean looked at the golems called "Knights" and couldn't help but feel nervous.
Now he knew how it felt to have Valimar follow around the old House Isekai.
(Mercedes) "Please, follow me!"
Everyone nodded and let Mercedes guide the way, the Knights following closely behind.
(Aigis) "It seems Fodlan's technology has greatly improved since we left."
(Mercedes) "It has, my mind is really having trouble keeping up nowadays. It seems every other month some new device for communication is put out!"
(Aigis) "That's a familiar feeling..."
(Kazuma) "So...everything's been fine since House Isekai left?"
Mercedes stopped outside the main hall's entrance and turned to the knights.
(Mercedes) "Worry not, these four protected me during the Five Year War. I will return shortly."
The Knights' heads nodded.
They went up into the building of the main entrance hall, making their way up to the second floor of Garreg Mach. The knights remained outdoors and Mercedes looked around her to make sure they were alone.
(Mercedes) "To be quite honest, it has been a bit...troubling. There's a host of new problems ever since this new partnership between the empire, kingdom, and alliance began. But, that shouldn't be anything you have to worry about! Actually, why are you here?"
(Rean) "We received a call from Sitri, requesting help from us. I guess the four of us were the only ones able to respond."
(Mercedes) "I see. If she requested House Isekai, then I am not sure it is a good thing...Oh? I believe she's speaking to someone inside."
[Arcana Code - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
(Sitri) “Then let’s get started. I have called you five here, because you are the best and brightest Garreg Mach Monastery has to offer."
Sitri put her hand to her chest and closed her eyes.
(Sitri) "We live in troubled times, as you can no doubt see for yourselves. Even with the advancement of our technology ever since the calamity two years ago, tensions between our nations remain at an all time high."
The students looked at each other, not sure of where this speech was going.
(Sitri) "Garreg Mach Monastery was created to represent the very best our nations had to offer, and pave a way for our youth to shape our world. That is why you all are here.
Of our three Houses, you have been chosen for an experimental class, and will be leading from example."
(Stefan) "E-Experimental how?"
(Sitri) "Surely you have heard of House Isekai?"
(Helena) "Think I remember hearing rumors about them with my old mercenary group."
(Astrid) "Those group of weirdos and undead!?"
(Kazuma's Voice) "Who are they calling weir-"
(Towa's Voice) "K-Kazuma! They'll hear us!"
(Kairos) "I only know from what I read from reports. They were the fourth house of Garreg Mach, right?"
Sitri nodded.
(Sitri) "They were a group of people that came from beyond our world, all with different histories and personalities. The reason I bring them up is because they worked with all three classes before the Five Year War began. And they were the ones who stopped the calamity from destroying our world."
(Elizabeth) ...?! "Hold a moment, Lady Sitri! Have we been called to work with these off worlders?! They have no place in meddling in the affairs of Fodlan!"
(Kairos) "Hmph. For once I agree with her, this matter should be left to us-"
Sitri raised a hand and interrupted them.
(Sitri) "These "off-worlders" had the opportunity to leave us to our fates when the calamity was at its worst. Instead, they chose to stay and fight for our sake. I trust them with my life. And so do your nations' leaders."
(Everyone) "..."
(Sitri) "Prepare yourselves to travel out, grab any essential gear and report back. We will continue the briefing once you are more situated."
[Musica Universalis - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers OST]
The students quietly left the room, keeping their thoughts to themselves.
They were too preoccupied to notice that they had walked by Kazuma, Rean, Aigis, and Towa.
(Mercedes) "I have my own business to attend to unfortunately, so I will see you all later!"
Mercedes bowed while everyone else waved goodbye, and she followed the students down.
Once they went downstairs, Rean was the first to enter the room.
Sitri took a deep breath and smiled when she saw them.
(Sitri) "Hello, everyone. I hope that speech I gave was alright."
(Towa) "I like to think so, but I can definitely see why the kids are so confused."
(Aigis) "You do not seem shocked that we are here."
(Sitri) "Well, I did have someone looking out the door for me."
She motioned behind her, Sothis materializing in front of everyone and waving.
(Sothis) "Besides, with how loud Kazuma is, I don't think it was too hard guessing who it was."
Kazuma rolled his eyes.
(Kazuma) "Yeah yeah, whatever."
(Rean) "I see you've been keeping yourself busy!"
Sitri sighed again, though sounding far more tired.
(Sitri) "You have NO idea...I hadn't realized how exhausting being a professor is, not to mention leading the reconstruction effort."
(Towa) "Oh, so that's why Garreg Mach is active again! You're doing such a good job!"
(Sitri) "Thank you, Towa. There's far more that needs to be done, but we've been getting by."
(Kazuma) "So, what exactly did you need us here for? We got your message."
(Sothis) "Well, a number of things really, but we should get to the most troubling news first."
(Sitri) "Right. We'll have time to catch up later. It's about the Zanado Tower."
Everyone straightened their backs and frowned.
[Spider Web - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
(Sothis) "We've been getting reports from the guards that...strange creatures are emerging from it."
(Kazuma) "That's descriptive. What makes them strange?"
(Sitri) "They seem to have intelligence but...they're nothing like we've ever seen before. Claude is in charge of the area around Zanado, so he ordered his men to just keep observing. These creatures never get too far, on account that they are killed by an unknown group."
(Aigis) "Do we have any visual references for any of these?"
Sitri nodded, and pulled out a crystal-like device.
It appeared similar to a tablet, but the information was displayed floating above it, which Sitri began swiping at it, making it show a picture of the creature.
Tumblr media
(Rean) "What in the...?"
(Aigis) "It does not appear to be a Shadow."
(Kazuma) "Hmph. Nothing I've seen in my world."
(Sothis) "To be honest, we were hoping at least one from every group showed up to confirm this or not, but for the time being we can only guess it's from a world none of us are familiar with."
(Towa) "But, I thought we stopped the Tower from continuing to rip apart other worlds?"
(Sitri) "We did. And that's why we're concerned."
(Sothis) "It doesn't seem like it's having any overall negative effects on Fodlan, but this only showed up recently."
(Sitri) "I put the message out a week ago, and if you all only now received it..."
(Rean) "Then we shouldn't waste any time. We need to investigate immediately."
(Sothis) "Our thoughts exactly. Which is why..."
Sothis turned to the door and disappeared, the students of Garreg Mach arriving back in the room, each carrying a small bag with them.
The students realized that there were more people in the room now.
(Astrid) "Wow, they look weird."
(Elizabeth) "Astrid! Where are your manners?!"
(Stefan) "Sorry about tha-...Wait a second..."
(Helena) "Hmph, maybe that's why. Are you guys from House Isekai?"
(Kairos) "Wait, these are supposed to be the people who saved us?"
(Rean) "Well, obviously we're not the full class but we were the core members. I'm Rean Schwarzer of Class VII."
(Kazuma) "Kazuma."
(Towa) "I'm Towa Herschel, it's a pleasure to meet the new generation of Garreg Mach's finest!"
(Aigis) "Aigis of S.E.E.S. Hello."
(Astrid) "Huh. Don't look like much to me."
(Stefan) "Well, we are pleased to meet House Isekai in the flesh after all the stories we've heard!"
Helena looked to the others. Astrid was frowning while Kairos and Elizabeth looked mutually revolted.
(Helena) "Least two of us are. Good job on getting those two to agree on something, though."
(Towa) "I-I'm sorry?"
(Kairos) "Lady Sitri, with all due respect, this is something that WE need to do ourselves. Getting outside help-"
(Sitri) "-Is necessary, considering what we're going up against. We all will be visiting the Zanado Tower in order to investigate the strange creatures coming out of it."
While Sitri recounted what she told House Isekai, the members of the old House looked at each other.
(Kazuma) "The hell do they got against us?"
(Aigis) "I am unsure. Did we do something wrong?"
(Towa) "Rean..."
(Rean) "I know, Towa. Well, I kind of have a suspicion."
(Aigis/Kazuma) ?
(Rean) "When my country occupied another, we were seen as meddling outsiders who had no business interfering in their affairs, causing all sorts of grief for every citizen involved..."
(Kazuma) "But it's not like our Houses have been taking over the territories here-"
(Towa) "True, but it's not like we had zero impact on the world either. I mean, just look at their technology! I think it's safe to say without us, they would not have progressed so fast."
(Aigis) "That is...a fair point."
Rean took another look at the students.
(Rean) "They remind me a little of my own class. And if that's taught me anything, is that they'll come around eventually. It's not like we all got along straight away either."
(Sitri) "...Now, without any futher delay.-"
Sitri closed her eyes for a moment as a portal slowly began to open behind them.
(Sitri) "I will take the lead for now. Everyone, please follow me."
They nodded and Sitri and the old members of House Isekai went in first.
(Elizabeth) "Ugh, this will NOT go well..."
(Kairos) "It's not like we can say no to Lady Sitri. We'll have to follow along for now."
(Astrid) "I mean, I don't think they seem that bad, just weird."
(Stefan) "We have to give them a chance at least!"
(Helena) "Fodlan's been through worse anyway. What's the worst that could happen?"
...
Meanwhile, inside the Zanado Tower...
Class VII stepped through the portal and found themselves in a completely alien environment.
Tumblr media
(Juna) "Woah..."
(Kurt) "What in the...?!"
(Altina) "Hm...The structure does not match any known signatures from our world."
(Ash) "Think that much is obvious."
(Musse) "Where's Instructor Rean?"
(Juna) "Uh, I think the better question is how do we even leave?"
(Kurt) "There appears to be a doorway ahead. Perhaps we can take that?"
(Ash) "Beats standing around."
Ash and Kurt moved first, with the rest of Class VII following..."
...
Through the scope of a sniper, a helmeted soldier slowly watched Class VII exit and wander the facility.
He was accompanied by three other soldiers, all wearing the same helmet and suit, with slight variations on their armor making them distinct from one another.
They were extremely high up on the platforms as they continued to fly past them, yet they still made an effort to remain out of sight.
(Buck) "What do you see Romeo?"
(Romeo) "Five kids. All wearing the same uniform, humans from the looks of it. Carrying some weird lookin weapons too."
Dutch lowered his weapon and sighed.
(Dutch) "Finally, some good news."
(Mickey) "Is it? How the heck did they even get here?"
(Buck) "One thing at a time. Right now, we go and get those kids to follow us, before whatever the hell those things were finds them first."
(Romeo) "Or, we could just find the exit instead."
(Mickey) "And leave them to die?"
(Dutch) "Really?"
(Buck) "..."
(Romeo) "Jeez, tough crowd."
(Buck) "Just shut up, Romeo. Let's get moving."
Everyone picked up their equipment and followed after Class VII.
(Romeo) "Besides, the weapons on them were-"
(Buck) "Romeo. Remember when I told you to shut up?"
(Romeo) "Yeah?"
(Buck) "Consider that a standing order."
...
(Amber) "Hm..."
Amber dusted off some of the crates around her and found food inside.
Although they packaging was covered in dust, they appeared to be fresh.
(Venti) "Ugh, finally food! I'm starving!"
Duvalie walked past Venti and her face scrunched up seeing how fast he stuffed it down his throat.
(Duvalie) "Tch, don't let that dust stop you from inhaling the food."
(Jean) "I suppose if it tastes alright...?"
(Kaeya) "No need to see if it's centuries old or poisonous, just go 'head and eat it."
(Lisa) "Perhaps we should worry about this food situation later? I do believe I saw another Abyss Mage run this direction."
(Diluc) "Then we have no time to waste."
Diluc grabbed his sword and moved the direction Lisa pointed.
(Duvalie) "Right!"
She drew her sword and shield and tagged along right beside him.
Even though they had found Duvalie by herself in this strange tower, she was already feeling like a part of the group.
Though Diluc didn't want to admit that. He already saw how ecstatic she was seeing Jean and himself fight. Though, a part of him wondered where she came from. She certainly wasn't from their world...
...
Outside the Zanado Tower...
Sitri stepped through the portal first, and the former members of House Isekai, and the Garreg Mach students came in right behind.
Drawing the Sword of the Creator, she took a deep breath before turning to the group.
(Sitri) "Students of Garreg Mach, begin the mission!"
[To be Continued]

i agree how you described twt, sometimes everyone's just ready to fight it seems, i've genuinely had fun on both platforms at different times but now it's just too much on stan twt (no space for difference of opinion djsjdjj) it's good to know you're having fun as well :3 & omg i've seen few of my moots starting to give svt their attention after fallin flower dropped, everything abt it is <3333 the song, mv, choreo i love it.
hdjdjddkdjdj " virgos 😐 " also me in next breath "happy birthday mark :D i love you so much 🥺💕💗" any virgos reading this i really hope you enjoy your month to the fullest djjdjd <3. righttt?? you're correct abt mark's temper being very virgo djdjdkd.
your line screams hard-working people <3 jihoon, jaebeom, jeonghan the 3Js <3. isn't jaebeom also an infj? (i don't take mbtis seriously but at the same time it also makes me happy if it ends up matching someone i like djdjjd) chan & yugs 🥺 these two imo have the sweetest personality, like the one which makes you feel welcomed & they also have the cutest laugh 🥺.
i love jus2 <3 focus on me is one of my favorite kpop mvs of all time & also drunk on you??? i love this song so much, very sexy of them. the vibes, style and everything w/ their album, i want more songs like that. and for when i am feeling melancholy i need more songs like jjp's verse 2 😭💔 but i am also okay if they don't want to go back to these units bcoz everything so far they've been giving is just as great <33 ( maybe in future we'll get blessed w/ features 🥺)
honestly g7 as grp and individually have won me over with their music style, even if i don't like full album ik there will be 3-4 songs which will be exactly what i like to listen to, all of the music they've released individually i've liked it so much. there is this song of youngjae's, titled "i'm all ears" i had no idea of its existence until it popped up in my spotify i'm so glad it did, it's been in my playlist ever since. there was also a time when i was obsessed with jackson's 'on the rocks' djdjdk.
aww <3 the live performance video of 1° has mark as thumbnail so for long time i used to associate this song with him jdjddk. i think the only j*pe thing i'd miss is got7 studio live sessions 🥺. RIGHTJDKSKS aju nice's mv is very cute djjddk I love it, in reality its reverse tho, i see them and boom! 💖💛💗🤍💕💙
it was the year they won first bb*as award so that gave them the exposure, and no i don't follow them anymore. mixed feelings abt them, very negative feelings abt f*ndom fjdjdjd. i do miss what it used to feel like liking them sometimes. at that time i never thought i'll willingly drop them from my interest (i've stanned zayn since 2012 first him as grp member then solo. sometimes thinking abt it gives me a whiplash hddjks it's been 9 years, really thought it would be same with them too but it didn't happen)
i've had falling in love by yugs and in to you by jaebs on loop for days djdkdk i really love these two songs and also air by bammie <3 (i'm slow jams kinda person djdjdk :3)
(bam released the most fun album & title this year idc abt others, ribbon is one of the soty) also special mention of look so fine & running through the rain. yes! you do make sense they feel organic & very them.
exactly 😭 it's more believable when they drop stuff out of nowhere like encore 😭😭. the way youngjae posted his letter on twt too ddjjdkssk the announcement & release of encore is such a 'you just had to be there' situation the excitement, nervousness, confusion and everything 😭 sometimes i can't with them. also is the bibi with mark on ost, the same one you mentioned in last ask? the ost is really good <3, it must've been fun to see it happen (if its same bibi).
making a whole ass playlist just for me???? 😭😭😭🥺💗 yza you're so sweet nooooo 💖
and don't worry abt replying late jdjdkdjd i mean it, sometimes my friends text me after weeks and i'm am the same. it's really okay <3. i hope this week is treating you kindly, take care yza - 🪂
p.s ( just saw last post djjej) - it was me who manifested more bunny dino <3 manifesting even more <33
i was on stan twt during my younger years too and it was v fun and memorable to me ngl <3 idk what happened though.. it's evolved to be.. They Come and Go
This was just a quick plot bunny that I came up with on the fly while listening to the fma ost and merry go round of life. Shaggy, who as I picture him, is someone who values nature and the prospect of life, comes across someone attempting to do the impossible and breach the laws of nature and the way life flows to try and bring back his dead wife. A woman he loved more than life itself and had a very healthy relationship with, which unfortunately their time together has been cut short due to an untimely death. He's trying to bring her back to life and Shaggy has to talk some sense into him a la Fullmetal Alchemist style. (As in philosophy, heavy topics like death and grief, and trying to move on with one's life. Just a warning to y'all)
Kinda just jumps right into the confrontation between them. No set up what-so-ever as if it's just after the dramatic reveal and you turned on the TV at the end of the episode. So, LET'S-A GO!!
(Oh and Clarence and Myrtle were just names I came up with on the fly, so picture them how you want.)
~•~●~•~
They Come and Go
"Clarence?!" The Mystery Inc exclaimed all except Shaggy.
"But why?" Velma asked she was sure that the sweet and kind man was innocent.
Clarence scoffed, "because of my wife, that's why!"
"Huh?"
"Ugh, guys, like, it's easy," Shaggy drawled in a bored tone, all eyes were on him. "His wife is dead, and he wanted to bring her back to life. Isn't that right, Clarence?" He held up the book the man was trying to steal. "I have to say, all this set up and elaborate planning is a little much for trying to steal a single book. Then again, like, perhaps you wanted to scare everyone away so there would be no witnesses to the atrocity you were about to commit!"
"But how can wanting your loved ones back be an atrocity?!" He shouted in outrage, "Don't you have people you'd miss if they died?! Wouldn't you want to do anything to bring them back again?!"
"Yes, I do have people like that, they're all around me," Shaggy admitted. "But, like, there's a difference between wanting to do something and actually attempting it. There are many people who want to try and bring their loved ones back to life, yes, that's true. Hell, that's a natural part of the grieving process. But, there are few who actually attempt it, and even fewer that succeed. Even then, they're still losing that battle. But that's another story entirely."
"That doesn't make any sense, isn't bringing the dead back to life supposed to be impossible?" Fred asked.
"Exactly my point, Fred," Shaggy said. "It is impossible. The closest we've got is cloning, and, like, even then, those clones are different than the person we initially tried to bring back. There's no bringing the dead back to life, it's just not possible."
"So what?!" Clarence yelled, "just because those people failed, doesn't mean I will too!"
"Oh really?" Shaggy questioned with a quirked eyebrow. His voice was level and calm, and the others knew that Shaggy only ever got like this when he was pissed off. Wisely, they backed off and let him speak. "You really think you are powerful enough to play the hand of God? I'm not a big religious believer myself, but even I know that life is something way out of our human control. Nature is something that cannot be controlled, everything will eventually go back to the way it was, how nature intended it to be. That's the problem we have here. Going against that flow of life, that innate cycle that cannot be changed nor altered is the problem. You have to accept it, not fight against it. If someone were to be brought back to life, it would only disrupt nature's balance and destroy ecosystems. Let's say that the person you brought back was content wherever they ended up, would they be grateful to you and thank you for a needless rescue then?
"What if, even worse, they were brought back immortal? Can you name one person that would want to be physically unable to die? No, I doubt it. Immortality is considered more of a curse than a blessing. Not only would it throw a permanent wrench in the circle of life itself, yes I did just make a lion king reference but it's relevant! But it would also destroy the person who came back, unable to die while they have to watch those around them grow up and pass on themselves.
"How would they feel towards you if you were the reason they were miserable? That they were robbed of that chance of having a happy afterlife by you and as rubbing salt in the wound, would never be able to have that chance again, and would have to watch as other people die and are given it instead, because of you and your selfish desires to have the love of your life back? Well, I'm telling ya now pal, that's gonna get you an eternity in the dog house."
Clarence looked like he had been slapped across the face and it seemed as if he was finally woken up from his delusions. He hung his head in shame and his shoulders started to shake, the others thought he was going to explode with anger, but when they heard soft sobs coming from him, they realized he was crying. Shaggy doesn't usually like to make people cry and would try to make it up to them, but he didn't this time. He couldn't, he was right and he was standing by his belief, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to offer some comfort. He helped the emotionally distressed man out of his costume and binds and the man latched onto him and sobbed. Shaggy didn't say anything but hugged him back and let him pour it all out. When the sobs finally died down, he pulled back.
"Thank you," Clarence said in a quiet voice, "I see my wrongs now, but still. What am I supposed to do now? That hope was all I had left! Please, tell me, what I'm supposed to do??"
He was so distressed, the Gang had never dealt with a case like this, and it hurt them to see him like this and sympathized with him. After all, everyone has people they couldn't bear to lose, he had a point. But Shaggy seemed to know what he was doing.
"Like, I can't tell you that," he said with a sorrowful shake of his head, pulling out of the other man's vice-like grip. "You have to figure it out for yourself. I can't tell you what you have to do with your life as much as anyone else can, only you can make those decisions."
He stood up and turned his back to the man walking forwards a few steps before pausing, he glanced back and saw Clarence sitting there limp as a rag doll and he sighed quietly, barely a sound passing his lips.
"Well, if you want my advice…"
"Yes?" Clarence asked in a hopeful voice.
"You have to move on. Myrtle wouldn't want you wallowing in grief and self-pity, she'd want you to honor her memory by living a long, happy life even in her absence. But not for a second should you forget her."
"How could I? She's- or was- the love of my life, I- I couldn't just, just forget someone like that!"
Shaggy turned and smiled at him, it wasn't a confident grin or silly smirk, it was a genuine smile that had to make him wonder if this kid had been through something similar. "There you go," he acknowledged, "That's the first step to acceptance, admitting that she's gone. It'll be hard, trust me, I know. My dad, someone who I was really close to, was killed on duty. I know what it feels like to lose a loved one, but once they're gone, they're gone. No one can bring the dead back to life, Clarence. Not you, not me. But hey, I got through it. You will too. And anyone else dealing with it for that matter. It's a part of how life goes, and everyone will eventually have to face that same music too. But oh well, I'm just some humble hippie kid riding around in a van straight out of the 1960s with his friends and his dog, so what do I know?" He laughed and even the rest of the occupants in the room shared a chuckle. "Still, you have to keep going, Clare. To quote an obligatory teenage cartoon, 'you have two good legs, so get up and use them.'"
"Heh, you're right," Clarence said, "though I probably would have gotten away with all this if it hadn't been for you meddling kids and your dog."
"Rog? Rhere?"
The room's atmosphere lightened at the familiar quip. Then Daphne spoke up.
"Well, the good thing is," she started, "this whole thing was private and no one but us knows that you were the monster. So how about we let this one slide for once? We'll just return the book and say we found it when the monster disappeared, though we are also going to be sure to explain how the monster won't show up again. Not unless it's someone else doing it, of course."
"We'd let you off with a slap on the wrist, but I think Shaggy has that covered," Velma said.
He laughed, embarrassed, "Well anyway, like, how about we hit the town and get dinner? After all this excitement, I'm starving!"
"Reah! Re roo!" Scooby agreed with a wag of his tail.
That night consisted of returning the book to the museum, explaining to the town how the monster won't come back, then proceeding to hang loose with some fun. Only Shaggy could really turn from any heavy and depressing topic to something light-hearted so quickly.
~•~●~•~
The closest thing we humans have to immortality is human memory. Remembering those who have passed on. As cliche as it may sound, the phrase "those who leave us don't truly leave us, they will continue to live on as long as we can remember them" still has merit. It's the only thing we can hope for beyond our grave that we made a big enough impact on those we love to be remembered for generations to come, that way, we can truly live forever as long as our memory still lives. I hope all those struggling to come to terms with death know that things will get better, and to those of you who are debating whether or not you're worth living, you are. You'll find your acceptance too, you just have to keep living to see the next day to eventually get there.
Boy, that went long, but I'm glad about how it came out. (And don't worry, I'm fine. It's just something I think was appropriate to address after writing a story with such heavy topics.) Well anyway, it's nearly midnight over here and I need to go to bed, G'night!

okay long time spending in gestation but I imagine that someone out of the followers I have wants to know my onion on KH3 is
Overall, good!
so consider wordbarf of very repeated and tired onions no one actually actively asked for below:
Alright so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make these words and what my opinions even are considering this game has been out for almost a year now (KH3 existing is wild imagine it turning a year old) so this will be. mostly bullet points + incoherent and unorganized rambling forgive me
BAD THINGS FIRST lets get the salt out of the way
Literally everything with Kairi was oof. I still feel her relationship with Lea is incredibly rushed given the last time they were interacting in canon he was literally kidnapping her but go off I guess nomura they’re brother/sister friendsy now at least the fandom can sell me on that better than you can. I seethe with rage recalling that they didn’t even try to hide that killing her off was a classic case of fridging (“You lack motivation” FUCK OFF) and I have been angry since the day I was spoiled by leak stuff accidentally. I wouldn’t have minded her getting her ass handed to her if they made it look like she tried and gave us some moments where she did defend herself and get some victories and not conveniently cut away from the actually badly needed training montage (surprise! this is why we have training montages!!!!) and I get she was instrumental in rescuing everyone and the fact she wasn’t THAT bad speaks for how much she improved but it still just. bites that she still feels more like a satellite love interest than ever.
Kairi was bad enough to get her own thing but tbh everyone who isn’t Sora also.. really suffers. The writing is really Sora-centric here and that’s not inherently bad (see good list) but it leaves a lot to be desired, especially since they dog pile the extended cast moments in at the end. There was no big confusion at Ven and Roxas sharing a face, no talks between characters who would have interesting interactions given their histories and circumstances, no obvious sign of development from anyone except maybe sea salt family and Aqua. They’re here to be more one-note than usual and resolve their arcs. Ven in particular (I’m totally not biased clearly /sarcasm) I feel is a big example given he was kinda in a really rough mental state at the end of bbs?? and 3 is exceptionally vague on just how conscious ventus was during his nap so I can’t even answer if he was able to give himself therapy the past 12 years or whatever
Anti Aqua is a damn cool concept but ultimately kinda pointless and I think we could have received it better if it wasn’t spoiled in trailers and wholly out of left field. Plus Sora coming in after what was pretty clearly set up as a Riku moment- while it gave us the incredibly gay press triangle to Sora + use a big keyblade made from ur love moment -was uh! really cheap!!!! and ruined what was clearly set up for being Riku’s thing with an almost nonsensical SIKE ITS SORA (it’s saved from being wholly nonsensical by 0.2′s opening foreshadowing + it still kinda makes sense for sora to at least help but damn if the narrative wasn’t leading us towards a riku moment)
Also everyone was hit really hard with the nerf effect in-narrative so unless you’re the dream team you’re screwed I guess and that. doesn’t quite work since it makes everyone else look... not great. And I think this is kinda a miscommunication on part of Nomura and the fans (IM MAKING ASSUMPTIONS TAKE WITH SALT) in that we kept saying we wanted people “saved” but meant having their arcs resolved in a reasonable way that preserved their agency and power and relationships, but got interpreted literally as “alright Sora comes in and solves every problem, is tough on stains, and makes julienne fries”
And yet there’s also a lot of mean spirited “oh no sora’s dumb and helpless w/out a second braincell” which was kinda funny the first couple times and I failed to pick up on it first go I’ll admit, but honestly? Yeah. they pick on sora too much. Donald and Goofy are the most guilty, and everyone else by virtue of not seeing Sora that much actually in-narrative are off the hook from me because they probably didn’t know how much teasing he’d been getting from his pals, but it felt kinda like they didn’t know what to fall back on between the three besides “oh donald and goofy pick on sora” which is cute once or twice but the amount he gets and how it clearly leads to his breakdown at the end is uhHHHHhhhHH hm.
As always the pacing is pretty awful where the disney worlds are somewhat relevant at best and then the end is 0-1000 but that is a usual KH gripe so its pretty low on the bar
Attraction flow is cute and neat at first but it gets.. really wearing towards the end and in the serious fights at the Keyblade Graveyard BOY are they a mood breaker
the “repeat the plot” worlds- Tangled, Frozen, Pirates -REALLY stick out like a sore, ugly thumb compared to the worlds that went out and did their own creative thing, and Big Hero 6 was.. cute? but kinda maybe too much of a breather.
Frozen also get an extra award for “Audio mixer most in need of firing!” because who the hell allowed the do you want to build a snowman scene.
They did nothing with Scala and I want a refund on that aesthetic if they’re not gonna do anything besides a framing device with it
HEY WAIT THERE WAS GOOD THINGS TOO!
Good news point that may or may not come to pass: Re:Mind DLC might fix some of the above salt! We shall see and probably know by the time this post is a year old sfjhdsakjgh
SORA! Sora was actually a character again!!!! holy cow they pulled up from the utter nose dive that was DDD!! god i love this dork and it was really fantastic to see him back to normal.
The graphical upgrade lost a lot of the squish and stretch that the OG graphics had but you know what? pretty. tastey. good graphics and better at doing more subtle emotions and hey have i mentioned Pirate’s glow up? Pirate’s glow up. The details in Olympus to recreate the swirly aesthetic of the clouds and explosions and lava is a great touch.
Worlds as far as levels go?? really good! They feel legitimately like worlds and explorable and with their own flavors and I LOVE battle and field themes x2 its really great I’m down for less worlds if they keep the quality. Hell we have NPCs!! maybe even too many npcs.
Writing OVER ALL/ON AVERAGE I’d say has improved a lot! It’s still not a literary masterpiece or anything but I found the disney worlds really cute and easier to get invested in even if long term they were less relevant than I hoped they would be. In every world there was at least one scene I found myself actually invested in. Like there was something to the writing that was legitimately more endearing than usual on average, and toy box and monstropolis were strong contenders for really good overall imo
honestly there were moments that- as moments -were incredible. Wayfinder reunion scene will haunt me, and Sea salt’s was good too, final world and rescuing everyone was jaw dropping, getting the LoD Back was also good, Union X, Xigbar exiting left stage pursued by a bear, wayfinder trio making a grave for eraqus, all the gummi ship scenes had great chemistry, beach party ending, hanging out with rapunzel for the first half of Corona is adorable as hell, all the nods to scenes in the movies, the easter eggs, like the game is not consistently amazing but it is peppered with stuff that I feel in a bubble ignoring surrounding context just work really really well
Damn if the end boss rush wasn’t thrilling as hell and honestly??? really good. Hard to parse out first flush but I think this was a good decision and added a lot of blood roaring urgency and wild turns, and even if I want to overhaul a number of things about the endgame I think this can definitely stay
Kingstagram is a beautiful gift man
OST? A fucking banger all around and I love how they’ve made cutscene-specific tracks that play with the leitmotifs throughout KH’s illustrious musical history
Over all there’s some really glaring issues, but overall it’s KH really at its best. I’m not sure if it’s my favorite entry and I’m still really mixed + befuddled on just how exactly I feel and I think a lot of that is I had pretty high expectations and my own ideas of how it would play out since like. 2012. it’s really hard to detach from those feelings and ideas sometimes. But KH3 wasn’t bad! It could’ve really been worse, and the fact that it got out the door in the state that it was is a good deal
now here’s to the wait for Re:Mind and to see if it’s basically the content we’d get in Final Mix that could definitely bump up my opinion

So I watched Dr. Stone
First I’d like to say that it’s not what I expected from seeing the MC. I put it off for a bit because i thought Senku looks weird, and I still do, but...
Tumblr media
The Science: I’m into sciency anime. Almost all of my favorite titles have some kind of science to them, (i.e.Cells at Work). While I haven’t fact-checked celery man, I still really appreciate the accuracy of that which I do know to be true.
The OST: Yup, I’m one of those people, this OST is the sh*t! Go listen!
The dub is good: I’ve made it a point before that I prefer dubs because they are more accessible. As a person who has troubke reading subs w/o pausing the video, I’m grateful dubs are a thing, but only if they’re done right. I was worried about certain characters having meh voices but I think the cast is pretty good this time around.
This brings me to....
Tumblr media
Charactrs
I guess Senku is one of those examples of why you can’t judge a book by its cover? Yes, mad scientist veggie man looks funny but I like him. I see some flaws with his plans though and i’m wondering if they foreshadow anything at all. Unlikely but he still entertaining.
But then there is Gary Stew Tsukasa. Yeah, I said it. For a narrative that wants to sell us on the fact that we don’t need magic when there is modern science his existsnce is BS. Yes, there is the mystery of the petrification but everything else is pretty logical, or so it seems. Yet we have a dude who can kill a lion with one punch, fish in the ocean without breathing equipment and survive a gunpowder explosion at point blank with not even so much as a scratch... wtf.? Then again Senku counted 3700 years of time in seconds and remained sane throught it all, but at least Taiju acknowledges that!
Dr. Stone has an interesting story, it’s entertaining enough and most of the characters are funny. I appreciate the humor elements and video game references a lot. Even thoough it’s hard for me to enjoy a show with crappy major character or plot points that come out of left field, I still like it.
Tumblr media
Eyup... How did Tsukasa arrive at the conclussion that the very first thing Senku would try to do was make gun powder before the explosion went off? I don’t believe he was present when he told Taiju but what do I know? Anyway...I gotta remind myself that this was written to entertain youg boys, not for college level reader/writer audiences, it’s meant to be more fun than well written.
Ironically enough, the main character is my favorite part abour this series, which, considering he was also the reason why I put it off in the first place...
I hate you veggie man

guess who’s back,, back again. ah yes, it is, once again, anthony! i decided that i really needed to revive my entire smol son, duri. just this time around, he’s older, and in the form of one of the lomls, choi minho! oh and also now the main vocalist 1 of knight (because c’mon, my ass is so in love with exo like when i was still high after my colonoscopy on friday, i told my family i was gonna go home and listen to exo,, so now we know who fully owns my entire ass.)  anyways ! we’re going to move on from that and get right until it! here is duri’s biography, profile, and plots!
just a friendly reminder that under the cut, there will be mentions of post-traumatic stress disorder, car accident, parental death, and anxiety! any bullet point that deals with any four of these topics will have the tw at the beginning!
duri was born on december 25th 1990 to two young college students, oh jangmi & park seah, in incheon, south korea. even though they did something rather irresponsible, the two of them were still very responsible and were going to work so hard on taking care of little duri.
he spent a lot of time with grandparents since the both of his parents will still college students and they wanted his parents to be able to get their degrees. which of course, the two would later do; seah in business and jangmi in pharmacy.
when he was three years of age, his parents wed in a beautiful spring ceremony. there’s a bunch of pictures of him looking cute as heck at the wedding. but, he doesn’t really remember it, he only has the pictures.
he was honestly... the cutest little child who was just so happy and energetic, always respectable of people. he would easily melt your heart honestly.
TW: CAR ACCIDENT & PARENTAL DEATH; when he was five years old, his life took a turn for the complete worst. one spring morning, when the remaining of winter was still hanging on, and on his way to school; himself and his family would be involved in a car accident. his mother died instantly with the impact, while his father died sometime after. duri would later wake up in hospital; remembering every detail that happened with the car accident, as well as remembering his family members, but his memories before than would sit as a blur in his mind,  and he would be haunted by this accident for the rest of his life, most likely.
was sent to live with his uncle, minho, and his aunt, taekjo, in seoul. they own a really popular cafe and it’s literally come to age a lot; i’m thinking they live and work somewhere in itaewon. the two took really good care of duri, as if he was their very own son (minho and taekjo couldn’t have any children because taekjo is unable to bare children) basically he was born through their hearts. they taught him happiness, the wonders of the world, and everything else in between.
he really only considers incheon his birth place and not really a hometown due to the bad memories that linger there. he considers seoul to be his hometown due to living in seoul the longest and stuff like that.
TW: POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER; he really started suffering from post traumatic stress disorder; he would often relive the car accident in his sleep and he’d wake up basically screaming, then would cry once he came back to reality. he would also panic if something would accidentally smash in the cafe and no one really understood what was going on. but, minho had looked for answers and finally came up with what matched duri’s symptoms. he would later attend counseling. his dreams were never the same, they’d follow the same general thing, but something about it was always different, which is why duri can’t remember the accident fully.
he found and interest and solace in music; which was something that later became a love and something that he wanted to do for a career. he would take singing lessons before going on to learn guitar and piano as well. he would partake in the café’s open mic nights for something fun to do.
even though he had all this interest in music; he didn’t have an interest in auditioning for entertainment companies yet. he didn’t feel like he was ready, he wanted to take care of himself fully, focus on his studies, and studying music. even though minho & taekjo really thought he should audition, they respected his wishes.
as high school rolled around, he attended seoul school of performing arts (sopa) where he basically focused on music and performing for his later use. he was pretty popular with people due to his happy and caring attitude as well as his skill level in music (ofc there were some jealous but w/e.) at showcases, he was always scouted by a load of entertainment companies but he always turned them down due to the reasons stated above.
after graduating high school, duri decided that he was going to enlist in the military. he thought it would be better to do this, believing he’d finally be ready to chase after his dream once he did his enlistment. he would become a public servant due to the ptsd (but it wasn’t that bad, which was why they had allowed him to stay) and he’d even get to be in the military band, which he was really happy about.
though, while he was in the military, he got bad again mental health wise due to the fact he wasn’t keeping him with his therapist and etc, so he started having his pervious issues once again. he thought it was just a phase that he’d get over but spoiler alert, it’s not.
after graduating from military enlistment, he decided to finally audition for an entertainment company. bc entertainment was the first one to have auditions, so duri decided to go for that company; besides, he really liked both decipher and bee, so it just seemed like it would be the place for him. he auditioned without the knowledge of his uncle and aunt because he wanted to surprise them if he got in.
so, he went to the open auditions, felt a little odd because he felt like the oldest person there among a bunch of teenagers and stuff. but anyways, he went over what he had to do in his head to himself as he waited, before his audition group would finally be called.
they all lined up in the room and went one by one, but the guy who was doing the auditions, was hella strict and kept stopping people and yelling out next. he would always give people a look of sympathy and told them they did well.  and before he knew it, it was his turn.
he stepped up to where he had to be, before introducing himself, and proceeding to strum his guitar and singing decipher’s “replay.” the trainer finally stopped looking down and writing, looking up at duri and being memorized by his voice. duri was the only person to go for the full allowed time. after that, he was asked to dance and like he had no idea what to do?? so he just kind of.. busted out the moves to bee’s tell me and hoped for the best. it worked and he got the paper to go into the next room, where he would pass the audition completely, later going on to sign the trainee contract.
he wasn’t a trainee for very long (hoping i did the math correctly ajknfakkn but we’re going to pretend i did) basically he was almost immediately placed into the lineup of knight and his entire training was basically the nine months before debut that knight was known by the public. guess word got around about his voice, which was why he was there so quickly. i’m like 99% sure some people probably didn’t like duri for that sole reason that he was going to be debuting so quickly over some other trainees.
duri is one of the members that are basically without scandal to be honest. though, he did have a small thing once where a large group of netizens were saying that he was faking his personality for the cameras that there is no one he’s so sweet, caring, and generally really happy all the time. but, it was shut down quickly by non-fans of knight whom had great experiences with duri, letting people know that he really is the way that he presents himself to the public. soon, netizens felt like duri was someone they could trust and someone who wasn’t going to cause problems like some of the other members (no shade i promise xx)
bc 100% pushes duri for his voice over everything else. he lost out on a lot of acting opportunities, since bc rejected all acting offers for him; only accepting the ost offers, basically. though, they did let him star in lipstick’s excuse me last year. otherwise, it’s just pushing him for his voice. while he doesn’t mind it since he does want a solo, he still feels like he’s easily missing out on acting opportunities.
so personality wise, duri is a vv good person. he’s really nice and sweet without a mean bone in his body. he’s someone that people can really take advantage of because he has such a big heart and doesn’t really ever say no. he’s always happy and smiling; even though his mind is in pain. has fake maknae energy, one big ol’ puppy. the softest boy !!
he’s also such a big brother like your his younger friend?? suddenly he’s like your big brother !!
obviously member of knight’s hyung line !
he’s fluent in two languages korean (obviously his native language) and japanese.
in his free time, he really likes reading books and watching movies/dramas.
he so badly wants to move out of the knight dorm just so that he can get a dog(s).
gg enthusiast (i mean he does really enjoy bgs too but he loves ggs ok !!) and also a vv big ariana grande fan.
night sky enthusiast; has a connection to the stars due to a story his grandmother told him when he was younger.
TW: paranoia / anxiety / claustrophobia;  he doesn’t drive because his paranoid about it & he always takes the stairs, never going in the elevator because he feels like it’s closing in on him and he starts to panic.
this got really long and i think this is all i can say about duri ?? but anyways thanks for reading,, i love duri sm :(((

general
how many of your facebook friends do you know in real life? I don’t have facebook- I tend to feel like I have to reply right away, and while I don’t mind that for things I like, like Tumblr or AO3, ff.net, I can’t stand it on facebook because people message me about really stupid stuff and I don’t have the energy for that. Good news: More time for Tumblr! *cheers*
do you have any pets? My family has two dogs! Sweethearts, the both of them!
do you want to change your name? I thought about changing my last name for some time, because my grandma is the last carrying the name, but I eventually decided against it.
what did you do for your last birthday? Watch a movie at home with my friends.
what time did you wake up? At 7 a.m.
what were you doing at midnight last night? Hugging my mom because there’s nothing better than hugging people.

long or short hair: Short! I had half-long hair for a really long time, but went to the salon last week and told them to just cut it off, I was so done with it! It’s short in the back now, and a bit longer in the front. The time before that I got back from the hairdresser with what was pretty much Ochako’s hairdo ;P
do you have a crush on someone? No
what do you like about yourself? My talent for writing, my determination and my absolute love for my friends and family.
piercings: I’ve got pierced ears, but that’s not generally considered a piercing in my region? I got them pierced for my sixth birthday.
blood type: No idea.
nickname: My name is pretty long, but almost nobody ever shortens it since the first part doesn’t really fit me on it’s own and the second part is my deceased cousin’s name, so I always tell them I’d rather not be called that as it’s her name. Online: Blue-chan!
relationship status: Single.

more general
eating: Nothing at the moment.
drinking: Water.
i’m about to: Write, probably.
waiting for: More energy.
want: To get better.
get married: If I find the right man or women, I’d love to some day! It isn’t a choice made lightly, though, so it will probably not happen for another ten, perhaps even twenty, years.
career: I’m still in school, but I’m currently a stagiaire for a copywriter/editor/ghost writer/journalist. Not 100% sure what I want to do yet, but I love trying stuff out and I’m interested in the publishing business.
which is better?
hugs or kisses: Hugs.
lips or eyes: Eyes.
shorter or taller: Probs taller. Or shorter. Because when someone’s taller you can bury into their hug, but when someone’s shorter you can envelop them and that’s also really nice.

nice arms or nice stomach: Nice inside.
hookup or relationship: Always relationship.
troublemaker or hesitant: I’d say ‘’cautious’’ more than hesitant, because I’ll be the first to volunteer an answer if nobody else is, and I’ve got no problem stepping forward, but I’m also that one friend who has a bag some suspect is bottomless and contains pretty much everything for all kinds of situations. Always prepared.
have you ever
kissed a stranger: Nope.
drank hard liquor: No.
lose glasses/contact lenses: Endlessly. Not permanently, but I lose my glasses a lot when I put them off. Like, sometimes I even think I’ve lost them when they’re on my face. Which is really stupid, because I only see big, colourful blurs when I don’t have my glasses on.
turned someone down: I was never asked out to a date (though there were really stupid pick up lines used on me and I’ve had to hit a boy who tried to harass me before).
sex on the first date: No.
had your heart broken: No.
been arrested: Nope.
cried when someone died: Yes, a lot. The most memorable is, strangely, the very first time I came into contact with death. I was six or seven, I think, and our dog died. I cried all night long, I’m not kidding, really cried the entire night. My dad stayed with me the whole time, and he still says he’s never seen me that upset. And I’m a pretty emotional person, so that’s probably saying something.
fallen for a friend: Nope.
do you believe in
yourself: Yes.
miracles: Yes.
love at first sight: Kinda? Like, not eternal ‘’we’ll stay together forever!’’ love, but definitely instant connection/spark.
santa claus: No. Never did either, we’ve got Sinterklaas in the Netherlands, I believed in him when I was little.
kiss on the first date: Don’t think so.
angels: Yes.
other
eye colour: Green, mainly, but also grey-ish, blue-ish? It tends to change with the light. There’s a brown circle around my pupil if you look really closely.
favourite movie: It’s the Princess Bride. Definitely. I love fairy tales, swashbuckling adventures and humor, and this one’s got all three and I adore it!
Tagging: @aoife-has-fallen , @tendous-satoris , @otaku-alert , @king-of-glass , @tetrisblock , and anyone else that wants to? (You don’t have to if you don’t want to!)

Expert: We have blind men, one-eyed men, squint-eyed men, men with long sight, short sight, clear sight, dim sight, [and] weak sight. All that is a faithful enough image of our understanding; but we are barely acquainted with [men of] false sight. — Voltaire, The Philosophical Dictionary, 1924. Knopf, NY. [M]ost establishment…journalists tend to be like their writing, and so, duly warned by the tinkle of so many leper-bells, one avoids their company. — Gore Vidal, The Last Empire: Essays 1992-2001, Abacus, 2001. I heard the news today, oh boy…! — John Lennon and Paul McCartney, “A Day in the Life”, 1968. Brief: The gulf dividing established institutions—governments, political parties, academia, the judiciary, legislature, bureaucracies, the national security state, think-tanks, lobby groups, and especially the mainstream media—and those within and across the broader body politic, particularly those who’d challenge the chokehold such institutions seek to impose on the information and knowledge that forms the foundation of our political discourse as well as that of the official historical record, is expanding at a rate of knots. With a focus on one man who saw it all coming, it’s time to reflect on the backstory of this bourgeoning, perilous impasse, and what the implications might be for geopolitical stability and security, and indeed, the future of humanity. Living in a Fog of Historical Myth With an attendant lack of transparency and accountability, the Fourth Estate routinely subordinates the basic tenets of ethical reportage in the public interest to the interests, demands, and expectations of what we now refer to as the ‘deep state’. This is largely driven by the failure or refusal of the corporate media to live up to its basic remit in holding the ‘deep staters’ in turn responsible for their decisions and actions. This palpable, vicious circle, downward spiral reality is especially evident in matters of war and peace. Sadly, as we’ll see it was ever thus. Trump going all wobbly on America To underscore such sentiments and prepare the ground as it were, accounts of two recent newspaper pieces should do the trick. A Washington Examiner report by one Tom Rogan called on the Kiev regime to bomb the just completed Crimean Bridge. Even given the anti-Russian fervour in the West at present, the unreserved call by any purportedly responsible media outlet of what is after all an unprovoked act of war against that nuclear-armed country might’ve once been unthinkable. In the Salem-like milieu that beclouds the Beltway, though, for British analyst Neil Clark such ‘hate-filled incitement, masquerading as “commentary”’ is now evidently ‘thinkable’. More to the point, it perfectly showcases one of our key premises: the propensity for the MSM to act as cheerleaders for the war mongering ‘deep staters’. We’ll return to the theme of the warmongering press in due course. But a quite different report—as surreal as that of the Examiner, but which also serves to highlight another of the motifs reflected in the opening—appeared via the New York Times. The erstwhile Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was quoted expressing deep distress on behalf of America’s democracy, saying amongst things there was a ‘crisis of ethics and integrity’ therein. Let’s place to one side the fact he was using the occasion to have a none-too-subtle dig or three at his old boss Donald Trump over the Oval One’s obvious shortcomings in this respect. Ditto for the reality that as the former CEO of Exxon-Mobil, he was presumably never troubled by shareholder anxiety over him prioritising corporate social responsibility (“ethics” and “integrity” being key components thereof) ahead of their pecuniary interests. We might then marvel at why it took Tillerson so long to imbibe this reality and then share such disquiet with his fellow Americans. After advancing a scenario wherein we ‘allow our leaders to conceal the truth’, and/or ‘become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts’, Tillerson went on to say, ‘we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom.’ For the ex-oilman, ‘even small falsehoods and exaggerations are problematic…[W]hen we…as a free people, go wobbly on the truth even on what may seem the most trivial matters, we go wobbly on America’. Now space herein limits a thorough unpacking of Tillerson’s profound insights. Suffice to say all manner of pundits would have a field day if invited to do so. Judging by what Tillerson himself doubtless views are heart-felt ruminations on the body politic, he sees this as a recent development. Yet contrary to his remarks, this scenario did not arise with Trump; as Chris Hedges and many others have noted, Number 45 is more a product of the malaise Tillerson described than he is a precursor. As it is, said “malaise” has been a work in progress for some time, with British historian David Andress observing that its roots run ‘deep into our history’. Declares Andress in his recent book Cultural Amnesia: How the West has Lost its History, and Risks losing everything Else, there’s now ‘a crippling void at the core of politics’, most notably in the historically leading nations in the West [Britain, France, the US]. He further says of this “void”: ‘[There is] an absence of reflection so profound it is hard for conventional commentary even to perceive it…[P]olitical perceptions are breaking dangerously free from a mooring in history.’ [My emphasis]. Central to that “malaise” or “void”, of course, is the corporate media, and herein we include the increasingly powerful—and insidious—social media forums such as Facebook, Twitter and the like. We might for good measure throw in Hollywood, Amazon, and the public relations industry as well. In juxtaposing dichotomous themes of trust and suspicion, truth and lies, facts and propaganda, reality and perception, acceptance and denial, reason and unreason, justice and injustice, democracy and autocracy, and to no lesser extent, war and peace, amongst our literary icons it was perhaps George Orwell who captured all this best. This is strikingly evident with regard to the mindset we as ‘consumers’ receive, process, and act on, knowledge about our history and from there, do same with information regarding the more contemporary events propelled by our political, media and bureaucratic elites and their paymasters. Of course, Orwell has been name checked to within an inch of his not insubstantial repute. But to paraphrase one of the English language’s other great wordsmiths Samuel Johnson, the man’s observations about the core rationale behind modern political psychopathy have touched little that haven’t adorned our day-to-day reality. These embrace the hidden motives that propel it into the public sphere, the ‘substance’ of the discourse that frames it, along with the amount of people reached and thus influenced by it. The outcome of this rationale as it’s applied doesn’t just suborn our history; by extension, it dilutes our memory and devalues our understanding of it. That it continues to do so is self-evident. At least it is if we allow the ‘evidence’ some ‘breathing space’. As for Orwell’s insights, what’s not to like about the following, each of which is pertinent in some way to our narrative and authored over 75 years ago?: ‘Who controls the past controls the future…Who controls the present controls the past’; ‘In our time political speech and writing are largely the defence of the indefensible’; ‘Such concepts as justice, liberty and objective truth are still believed in….[T]hey may be illusions, but they are very powerful illusions’; ‘Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed: everything else is public relations’;…and last but not least, that perennial family favourite, ‘Big Brother is Watching You!’ There are many others on Orwell’s menu to be sure, but this will do for starters. From there, Orwell also sought to reveal how “Big Brother” and his siblings endeavour to disparage, marginalise, and then disenfranchise (or worse) those who might offer conflicting analyses outside their own tightly scripted ‘Newspeak’, ‘doublethink’ purview. A diverse range of folks from William Binney, Julian Assange, Coleen Rowley, John Kiriakou, Jesselyn Radack, Jeffrey Sterling, Karen Kwiatkowski, Chelsea Manning, and Edward Snowden amongst others would, one suspects, provide ample testament to that reality. One of the most (ahem) memorable of plot devices in his novel 1984 was the concept of the memory hole. This was a process allowing for the modification or destruction of troublesome or awkward information in order to alter history and people’s memory of it or create the impression that something never happened. Two recent examples of the memory hole in action are worth mentioning briefly, both involving incidentally the West’s current bete noir Russia. The first is the recent documentary film Remembrance – Rewriting history: Red Army’s role in liberating Europe censored in the West, the title leaving one with no uncertainty as to what the narrative is all about. Suffice to say: Much of today’s generation is of the belief it was the US who did most of the heavy lifting in World War II, as ‘that’s what their textbooks tell them’. Yet as the historical record tells it, compared to American deaths in the European theatre (around 300,000), the Soviets suffered around 27 million or more including millions of massacred civilians; further their country was trashed, whilst America and its inhabitants remained largely untouched by the conflict. Put simply, the US got off light! Moreover, the Red Army fighting on its own turf killed over four times as many Germans as the US and its allies did on the Western Front. In fact, the D-Day invasion, belatedly opened the second front in Europe in June 1944 after being delayed several times over two years prior largely due to prevarications by the then UK PM Winston Churchill, much to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin’s justifiable chagrin. By this time, it was clear the Soviets could accomplish complete victory over the Nazis on their own, but by no means did this mean the allies were going to let them claim bragging rights to such an outcome. In any event, it appears this narrative has been quietly ‘memory-holed’. One is tempted to ask: To what end is this being done? It is straight out of the Orwell playbook. (The recent revival of the long dormant accusation the Russians were responsible for the downing of the MH-17 passenger plane over eastern Ukraine in 2014 is no coincidence. Again it provides further evidence that the West’s march to war with Russia remains very much on the agenda, with my own country Australia being amongst the most vocal in pointing the finger, sans it would appear anything resembling convincing new evidence.) And the second “memory hole” exemplar was an extraordinary interview with Mikhail Poltoranin, former Head of the Government Committee on the Declassification of KGB Archives. He revealed that in 1950, the U.S. Air Force actually attacked Soviet bases just outside Vladivostok and destroyed over 100 aircraft. Poltoranin further disclosed that Stalin himself was poisoned; ‘Uncle Joe’ didn’t die of natural causes! This assassination operation was carried out on Churchill’s instructions by British intelligence, themselves assisted by ‘some internal forces’ of the Soviet ruling elite, of which Stalin’s later successor Nikita Khrushchev was ‘certainly one’. On any number of levels this latter revelation is highly credible. Churchill himself was one of the earliest cheerleaders of the as yet unnamed Cold War with his hysterical 1946 “Iron Curtain” tirade thereby inaugurating one of history’s most consequential of self-fulfilling of prophecies. As well there was no love lost between these two former WWII allies, a reality laid bare in Susan Butler’s masterful 2015 book Roosevelt and Stalin: Portrait of a Partnership. It is further noteworthy that when, during the course of this astonishing exchange, the interviewer expressed disbelief at his revelations, Poltoranin responded with a comment very pertinent to our narrative: ‘We hid a lot of things. Actually, we live in a fog of historical myth…’ The “we” here doubtless included the West! All Wars are Media Wars (Lest we Forget) To be sure if Orwell were to be somehow resurrected today and allowed at his leisure to take in the zeitgeist, even he’d be at pains to appreciate how insightful his prognosis was; how much he’d misjudged the power elites predisposition for orchestrated groupthink, perfidy, malevolence, disinformation, thought control, surveillance, censorship, manipulation, and oppression; and the degree to which the mass of ‘proles’ (that’s us cupcakes!) seem all too willing as it were, to ‘suck it all up’. This is despite the knowledge and information we supposedly have available today via the internet and especially social media, not least ironically the author’s own prescient admonitions via his writing or vicariously through others in the alternative media who are clued up on what’s happening! We might easily imagine the T-shirt cum bumper-sticker adage doing the rounds at present, to wit: ‘Memo to power elites: 1984 was not an instruction manual!’ would likely leave the fabled wordsmith at a loss for, well, words! You’ve read the book, seen the movie, now get the T-Shirt! All of the above insights into the psychopathologies of the human condition (to say little about the societies and polities that emerge from the way in which they’re permitted to manifest themselves over time), are interconnected, of course. Some of these will become evident throughout. Many others are self-evident. Let’s continue with another Orwellian maxim not included above, but still nonetheless crucial to our main leitmotif: ‘War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it’. With this in mind, in my own study and experience of history and the human drama and utterly avoidable tragedy at its core, I cannot recall a more precipitously dangerous time for humanity than the here and now. More to the point, when any of us spend time thinking about those who previously served, suffered or died for the noble cause (or the ‘noble lie’ whichever one prefers), even if they’d done so fighting for freedom, democracy, peace, love, understanding and the pursuit of happiness against the oppression, tyranny, and evil intent of the ‘bad guys’ (the de rigueur cover story for the “noble cause”/“noble lie”), they’d be, one imagines, furiously spinning in their eternally designated plots of terra firma at what is now unfolding. Put another way, what would they think of us allowing it all to happen déjà vu like all over again, especially given what we now know about how previous conflagrations unfolded and the real reasons why? To be sure, for its part “fake news” is now the new “conspiracy theory”: It is the political, economic, business, and financial power elites’ and assorted ruling classes’ preferred weapon of choice in their defence against those ‘heretics’ who challenge the official narratives of western capitalist governments and all those who seek via a range of tools (from cognitive infiltration, false consciousness to cultural hegemony and so many others not excluding plain old school, garden variety bullshit), to perpetuate the status quo. In the final analysis, fake or real, so much of today’s news becomes tomorrow’s history. For their part, the mainstream media mavens and their assorted paymasters cum patrons have adopted this ‘best form of defence is attack’ modus operandi for any number of reasons, not least of which is aimed to claw back the public’s trust and rebuild their credibility. With the more recent being those in the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine, so many conflicts have been feverishly championed by the major media outlets with few, if any, mea culpas forthcoming in the pear-shaped aftermath. Indeed, if anything, they have doubled down. It is largely because of this they’ve squandered whatever trust, integrity, and credibility upon which they might’ve once claimed bragging rights. The very things, of course, that animated Tillerson’s earlier comments. Yet whilst the road back up on to the high moral ground is invariably a rocky one even for the most redemptively minded, any attempt by the MSM to return there is likely to be little more than a ‘one-step forward, two steps back’ endeavour. And there’d be nothing remotely “moral” about the mission; its end-game will be all about perception management (their stock-in-trade after all), and rehabilitating their generic brand. Which is to say, their fundamental goal is the same as it ever was: a) to create and sustain believable, acceptable establishment narratives by which its elites might justify its policy decisions and thereby solicit public support for their often hidden, self-serving, progressively more dangerous, irrational agendas; b) to provide crucial camouflage for those individuals and institutions (including their very own) they seek to safeguard from public scrutiny regarding their true motives and [thereafter] impunity from legal accountability, and/or ethical and moral responsibility for their actions; c) to preserve and bolster these illusory narratives as well as to burnish the reputations, then solidify the legacies, of those who fashioned the mythologies and deceits that underpin the narratives in the first instance; and lastly, d) to establish an unassailable, yet still bogus, frame of reference (historical, political, educational, economic, psychological, social, intellectual, cultural) allowing for successive generations of elites to perpetuate then ‘recycle’ these “mythologies and deceits” to their own ends. If all this sounds like a purpose built, vicious-cycle, ‘keep ’em in the dark and feed ’em on bullshit’, perpetual motion construct for history repeating itself, then that’s possibly because it is difficult to view it as anything but. With the possible exception of wealth and poverty (issues themselves which I hope to similarly address in a follow-up, companion essay), in few other matters concerning the human condition and its oft presumed progressive betterment, the history of human endeavour, and the contemporary body politic is this more evident—or of greater import—than those to do with war and peace. For most reasonably informed observers of history and how the media works, if attended by an appreciation of the contemporary political landscape in general, they will immediately recognise it for what it is. Pope Gregory XV (1554-1623). ‘La Papa’ recognised the importance of a good PR arm. It’s worth noting here that the origin of the word “propaganda”—a concept that in its variant forms is a recurring motif herein—derives from the era of Pope Gregory XV. In 1622, the then Vatican (ahem) ‘commander-in-chief’ directed his cardinals responsible for foreign evangelical missions to establish the congregatio de propaganda fide, aka ‘congregation for propagation of the faith’, an organisation whose raison d’être should be self-explanatory. For some this is perhaps fitting if not surprising. Viewed another way, it’s the Catholic Church (the original “deep state” perhaps?), which might lay claim to having conceived the first ‘psy-ops’ gambit, a Holy See enterprise that around 400 years later is apparently still ‘Johnny Walker’! It is further notable that British philosopher John Gray in his compelling Black Mass: Apocalyptic Religion and the Death of Utopia, opened with the following: Modern politics is a chapter in the history of religion. The greatest of the revolutionary upheavals that have shaped so much of the history of the past two centuries were episodes in the history of faith—moments in the long dissolution of Christianity and the rise of modern political religion. And when it comes to the subject of propaganda, per se, although he deserves a ‘chapter’ all on his ‘Pat Malone’, we cannot, of course, not at least name-check Edward Bernays—Sigmund Freud’s nephew—the man generally acknowledged as the father of modern public relations. Which brings us once again back to fake news. The descriptor might have only recently entered into political discourse and popular vernacular; but as the Scottish authors and bloggers Gerry Docherty and Jim Macgregor observe, it has ‘a long history’. It’s propaganda frocked up in a different guise. Gerry Docherty and Jim Macgregor Via their website and their two published books (see here and here), Docherty and Macgregor’s excursions into the historical terrain of the most consequential event of the twentieth century—that being the Great War—have not just provided us with possibly the most compelling, far-reaching insight into the causes and conduct of this catastrophic inferno, but its, well, consequences. They’ve also delivered us a crucial understanding of how perfidious Albion (i.e. Great Britain) inveigled the rest of the world into fighting this war. With the ancien regime doing everything in its power to provoke Russia into war at present, this observation should not go unnoticed. (Those who think the British Empire as such had passed its UBD by 1945 haven’t been paying attention, need to get out more, or require a check up from the neck-up.) Now doubtless many folks will be having a “say wha?” moment at this point, to wit: Wasn’t it the Germans who provoked the First World War? Not so, according to Docherty and Macgregor. Even more than that, for our purposes herein, they’ve provided us with a telling insight into the key role the media mavens of the era knowingly played in facilitating the grand schemes of the ruling classes (termed the Secret Elites by the authors). The campaign to ‘sell the war’ to the British public and to the rest of the world began in earnest at least ten years prior to its outbreak. Although many abound, one example will suffice. This was the dogged manner in which various members of the Secret Elites coerced, cajoled and curried favour in the pre-war years with the various dominions and colonies specifically amongst their respective media outlets and leading politicians of the day—Australia, India, New Zealand, Canada to name the obvious ones—to ensure that once war began, there would be unstinting loyalty from all and sundry to the noble cause. It was all up, of course, an astonishing political, diplomatic and propaganda achievement, yet one we can now safely say, came at great cost for all those dominions and colonies, with little or nothing to show for it. To be sure, one of history’s greatest snow jobs perpetrated in the cause of perpetuating empire. This was Great Britain’s great propaganda machine at work, ‘an ‘infernal engine created in war…’ as described by author Richard Milton in his Best of Enemies: Britain and Germany: 100 years of Truth and Lies….‘…[b]ut impossible to switch off in peace….The indelible memory of atrocity stories that had taken place only in the imaginations of British propaganda agents proved to be stronger and more persistent than any facts. This curious discovery, the power of myths over facts, was the real legacy of the First World War.’ [My emphasis]. History Down the Memory Hole Now although it’s been rightly noted that “all wars are bankers’ wars” (underscored by the preceding Orwellian maxim about the “moneyed classes”), few could argue that the “bankers” would’ve had great difficulty selling their wars on their own; a pliant, subservient, gung-ho media is by definition crucial at the outset in mobilising the populace at large and from there manufacturing the collective consent needed to do so. Docherty and Macgregor’s follow-up tome—Prolonging the Agony: How International Bankers and their Political Partners Deliberately Extended World War 1, the title clearly underscoring what we’ve just observed—drives home the point. Which is to say, the war against Germany wasn’t just ‘sold’ to the world, with the establishment media at the time leading the charge and indispensible to this propaganda effort. The same media then played their own part in prolonging the war by ensuring the public did not lose their patriotic fervour. Moreover, the British political establishment—incestuously intertwined with not just each other, but with the press of the era, academia, business and finance, and the broader Western intellectual diaspora as well—ensured that through their control over the higher learning and research institutions and the education bureaucracy, they gave enduring, inviolable substance to Winston Churchill’s infamous maxim, ‘history is written by the victors’. (Along with being one of official history’s most acclaimed authors—whose genre specialty we might now say was historical fiction—Churchill himself, of course, was a ‘Secret Elitist’.) So effective was this propaganda exercise that the false narrative still stands today as the official version. It’s embraced by just about everyone from our politicians, our mainstream media, our academics, our military leaders, our veterans’ associations, and [to] our school curriculum writers and even those folks who end up teaching the fake history. Those rare folk who’d question this let alone decry it find themselves at best on the outside looking in. Herein, Docherty and Macgregor unambiguously lay out their stall: Lies masquerading as news are as old as news itself, with royalty, governments, public figures and the mainstream media purveying it to manipulate public opinion. In an Orwellian twist those very same groups now employ it as a pejorative term against the alternative media, truth writers and bloggers as a way of dismissing inconvenient truths and crushing dissent. We should all be aware of the state as keeper of ‘the truth’. “Fake History” is another powerful weapon that has long been used by those in authority to retain that power and keep the masses in the dark. Of course, we can travel further back in time to the Boer War (1899-1902) and the “splendid” Spanish American War (1898) to find examples of Western MSM perfidy in sounding the battle cry for freedom as a cover for highly dubious state-sponsored wars of aggression, conquest, dominion, plunder and oppression. Docherty and Macgregor cite the former as primarily a dress rehearsal for the Big One to follow, a war championed by the British establishment press of the era, whose prime objective was laying claim to the huge Transvaal gold mines. Less ‘White Man’s Burden’ then than ‘White Man’s Booty’ then!’ As they note: ‘Their ambition overrode humanity, and the consequences of their actions have been minimised, ignored or denied in official histories.’ Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst in their heyday. And though opinion remains divided as to the impact the media played in the US declaring war on Spain, there can be little doubt it was decisive. The ensuing conflict has since been classified as the first “Media War”, with the two most notable press barons of the era William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer going toe to toe and above and beyond the call of journalistic duty in their efforts to inflame U.S. public sentiment against the Spanish and incite an otherwise indifferent populace to man the barricades. The propaganda onslaught included dodgy stories of atrocities allegedly committed by the Spanish against the Cubans—fortified by a conveniently timed false flag attack on the U.S. Navy ship the USS Maine anchored in Havana harbor thereby providing the pretext for the subsequent declaration of war—with then Assistant Secretary of the Navy, budding imperialist, and future POTUS Teddy “the Rough Rider” Roosevelt being amongst the most hot-to-trot of the leading politicians. If the U.S. emerged from the nineteenth century as a leading world power after this war there can be little doubt Hearst and Pulitzer had done their bit to bring this about as great American patriots might’ve been expected to. As a consequence the centuries-old blood-soaked Spanish empire was finally ‘deep-sixed’ for good with the U.S. taking control of Cuba and full possession of the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam, themselves the first baby steps towards expanding its own already considerably “blood-soaked” empire outside of its own territory. For any aspiring hegemonist, this had to be seen as both a good start and an excellent return on their piddling investment, which doubtless contributed in no small measure to its fabled designation as that “splendid little war”. That Hearst and Pulitzer sold a shit load of newspapers into the bargain—in an age when doing so actually meant something—and cemented their reputations as media monopolists and political power players to be reckoned with was, of course, neither here nor there. But they had in a sense pioneered a prototype of the more au courant phenomenon of fake news, in those days called “yellow journalism”. It is perhaps one of the supreme Orwellian ironies permeating the polity that the most sought after award in journalism, the Pulitzer Prize, is named after one of its most ruthless, opportunistic, and unethical of practitioners. Whether by accident or design, they’d moreover done their bit to inculcate firmly into the collective psycho-pathology and historical memory of the ruling classes and power elites in America an incipient, and from there an abiding, sense of ‘exceptionalism’ and manifest destiny, the essence of which has been sustained by and large through propaganda. With only occasional lapses, this has framed and underpinned political discourse in U.S. foreign policy, and been a key driver of its interventionist approach ever since. It set the template for the future manner in which the Western media mavens embraced their responsibilities insofar as they were expected to act in the public interest or guide civic opinion for the common good. Another example that is instructive herein, of course—one which Docherty and Macgregor again provide key insights into—is the way in which the British government, once it found the pretext to declare war on Germany in 1914, then persuaded the U.S. to join in the melee. Here again, the media’s role herein was decisive. The First World War was a pivotal point in the way in which news and information began to be more formally and precisely, albeit covertly, manipulated—and indeed frequently contrived—to serve the interests of those seeking to mould public opinion towards a certain consensual view. In this it is instructive to note it was the Great War that, if it did not quite give provenance to one of the great truisms in the history of conflict, that being, ‘Truth is the first casualty of war’, it facilitated from there its popular usage. Thus was the age of public relations born, and it was from there that Bernays and his ilk never looked back. At its most basic “public relations” was/is “fake news”; indeed PR became the new terminology designed to replace the increasingly repellent phrase “propaganda”. Such was the decisive impact of this new mode of communication, it’s difficult to see how Americans might’ve been convinced to enter the war on the side of Britain, and by extrapolation, how Britain and its allies could have avoided defeat at the hands of the Germans. Fake News Good, Real News Bad As the mainstream media—as deservedly much-maligned as it is malignant—descends further and further into deceptive arrogance and dangerous incoherence, it increasingly seeks, in indirect proportion it seems and with an equal mix of hubris, dishonesty, chutzpah, and hypocrisy, to double down in its attempts to preserve and maintain its façade of credibility and integrity. Western political, intellectual and media elites are veritably hyperventilating at the prospect that their own “fake news” is being viewed for what it is: a desperate attempt to paper over the cracks in the wall of a crumbling Anglo-American-Zionist empire. It’s instructive here to consider a few of the recent, most preposterous narratives that have been—or are being—breathlessly promulgated. These stories are ones amongst many that no serious media outlet claiming a modicum of integrity or credibility should be touching with the proverbial forty-foot barge pole. That is, of course, unless it’s to refute the generally always evidence-free claims that frequently attend them and ridicule then discredit the person(s) making them. Here are just three of the ‘greatest hits’ as it were, currently topping the MSM charts: a) the farcical, transparently duplicitous anti-Russian propaganda onslaught emanating from Britain and America that seeks amongst countless other high crimes and dastardly deeds to blame that country and its leader for constant interference in the affairs of other countries, whilst ignoring their own respective, and destructive track records in this regard; b) the illegal seven-year old, seemingly endless war currently being waged by Britain, America, and Israel against Syria and president Bashar al-Assad, one which he’s successfully fought with all the resources at his disposal despite the combined forces of the empire pulling out all stops to malign him and then terminate him with extreme prejudice; and, last but not least, c) the increasingly deranged Israeli despot Benjamin Netanyahu reprising once again his tried and true dog and pony show to sell-out audiences advocating war on Iran because he claims they’ve not adhered to the 2016 agreement not to build any nukes, whilst refusing point-blank to answer questions about his own country’s nuclear program. Whether in the U.S., Britain, Australia or anywhere else in the West for that matter, few of us should be under any illusions that the monolithic Fourth Estate remains steadfastly devoted to the ongoing betrayal of its purported brief by supporting the hidden—and not so hidden—agendas of those to whom it is, and indeed has always been, beholden. It’s notable that one of the U.S. establishment media’s flagship marques the ‘venerable’ Washington Post—whose high-minded, yet pedestrian positioning statement, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” is so positively Orwellian one suspects its authors were wearing ‘Freudian slips’ at its moment of conception—was given a deliciously outsized serve of ridicule recently by the media watch organisation Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR). And rightly so we might opine. The article, by Adam Johnson, chronicles the Wash-Post’s ‘top ten’ columns that he’s characterised as “sociopathic” in tone and temper. For ‘casually threatening economic ruin, inciting violence against entire populations, pushing for bombing faceless Muslims, or downplaying racism and child rape, there’s no better outlet’ Johnson says of the Post, ‘than [this] long-time echo chamber of power-serving conventional wisdom...’ ‘In the pages of the Post’s opinion section, you can say the most sociopathic things and get away with it, because you are, by definition, Serious People offering Serious Solutions in a Serious Paper. The human cost of these extreme, reactionary opinions is of little matter; what matters is packaging calls for violence, sexism and racism in a nice, official-sounding tone.’ Along with ‘pointing the bone’ at the paper’s editorial board itself for its own track record of sociopathic sensibilities when opining about the Big Issues, Johnson name-checks several of their high profile ‘by-liners’ past and present for special attention. These include Joshua Muravchik, John Bolton (now the White House’s Chief Chicken-hawk-in-Residence), and Richard Cohen amongst others. For Johnson, if there’s “one thing” the Post opinion editors love—and which is highly pertinent to the here and now along with being instructive in respect of our narrative—‘it’s columns threatening, plotting and advocating war against Iran. It’s the little black dress of foreign policy punditry—[it] never goes out of style’. To bolster his assertion, Johnson showcases a piece written in 2015 by Muravchik, a fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. Muravchik’s op-ed piece was titled “War With Iran Is Probably Our Best Option”. Johnson responded with the following: [Muravchik]…argued nonchalantly that launching a war of aggression against Iran was “probably” “our” best “option.” He doesn’t explain who “our” refers to, or why a military attack was even an “option” to begin with….He [Muravchik] then asserts that Iran is uniquely irrational and cannot be compelled with material needs, asserting that “ideology is the raison d’etre of Iran’s regime” and concluding, as if he were settling on a Thai food order, that a bombing campaign that would kill tens of thousands is the “best option.” From this above ‘catalogue’ of dodgy Post reportage we might draw the following conclusion: It is in matters of war and peace that perhaps the MSM is most at conflict with the now decidedly old school journalistic canons, these being, of course: accuracy, fairness, accountability, objectivity, truthfulness, and impartiality. The current state of geopolitical affairs and international relations—as existentially precarious as it is—should be ample testament to this reality. The mainstream mastheads are not—and have never been known for being—bastions for the promotion of peace, love and understanding amongst nations, anymore than they have been known for their adherence to truthfulness, accuracy or any of the other “canons” cited earlier. As anyone who’s delved into the real (unofficial) backstory behind virtually all of the major wars and conflicts over the years knows, the “noble cause” is never, ever the real reason, the “noble lie” never, ever justified. And the “cause” will never be the real reason—or the “lie” rationally justified—whilst we as a species continue to tolerate those within our midst whose congenital and moral defects push them towards these ends. It’s critical for this reason alone then we all disabuse ourselves of the notion that what’s happening now has anything to do with making the world safe for democracy and freedom; enforcing the tenets of international law in the cause of human rights; ridding the world of evil men with evil ambitions as if inspired by some vague quasi-Manichean apocalyptically-minded desire to make the world a better place; or some other such transparently fatuous nonsense. The only thing we’re making the world safe (or better) for is an entrenched, ruthless plutocracy. The reality, though, is this: We should all try to open our eyes to how we as ordinary people allow our political, financial, intellectual, media, and corporate ‘elites’ hoodwink then railroad us into supporting—mostly without question as if collectively driven by some inner, yet inexplicable, Pavlovian suicidal impulse—their grandiose, self-serving, and wholly disastrous schemes. Such “schemes”—political, military, financial, economic, psychological, social, cultural, educational—are engineered entirely for the preservation of their own personal material fiefdoms and the collective fiefdoms that were then, and remain, those of power, ambition, wealth, control, dominion, and above all, empire. And in this “empire”, as in all, the benefits are few for the many and many for the few, with “power” (as noted again by Orwell) an end in itself, not a means. In the process, this ‘deep state’ cabal—whom Voltaire might’ve referred to as “tyrants of the soul”—have embraced ever more cunning, manipulative and (in every sense of the word) violent intrigues—and let’s not shy away from it, out and out gambits of the conspiratorial kind to cover their respective and collective asses—making them increasingly less transparent in their motives and therefore increasingly less accountable, before, during, or even well after the fact, for their actions. As a distinct corollary to this, they’ve sought—ever so successfully and as noted, with our increasing acquiescence—to exercise ever-greater control, influence and power over us, at the expense of not just our privacy, but our social, economic, and political security. This is evident not least in the backlash that is taking place against those folks and groups who dare to challenge the conventional wisdom, or more aptly, the conventional lunacy! ***** In order to bring things to a close, it is both prudent and relevant to name check the esteemed and courageous Israeli historian Ilan Pappe. As he frames it in his tellingly titled book Ten Myths about Israel—the nation that arguably best embodies and reflects the Orwellian verities we’ve visited herein along with being the one nation to which the deference of the mainstream media seems to recognise few limits: …history lies at the core of every conflict. A true, unbiased understanding of the past offers the possibility of peace…[T]he distortion or manipulation of history…will only sow disaster…. Of course, Pappe herein is referring to Israel’s occupation of Palestine, along with the subjugation—and what amounts to the ethnic cleansing—of its original, long-time inhabitants. ‘Historical disinformation’ he continues, ‘even of the most recent past, can do tremendous harm. This wilful misunderstanding of history can promote oppression…’ It is not surprising, therefore, that policies of disinformation and distortion continue to the present and play an important part in perpetuating [the occupation of Palestine], leaving very little hope for the future. Constructed fallacies about the past and the present…hinder us from understanding the origins of the conflict. Meanwhile, the constant manipulation of the relevant facts works against the interests of all those victimized by the ongoing bloodshed and violence. [My emphasis]. Pappe could, of course, be referencing any current ‘work-in-progress’ conflict, such as that which is brewing now, for example, between Israel, the U.S. and Iran; the U.S., Great Britain, and Russia; or the never-ending Anglo-American-Zionist campaign of regime change against Syria, whose allies are, of course, Russia and Iran. Anyone of these ‘hotspots’ could trigger a larger geopolitical conflict, and if it so happens this way, it will be largely because of “policies of disinformation and distortion”, especially those which have been facilitated by the Fourth Estate. In his seminal book Voltaire’s Bastards: The Dictatorship of Reason in the West, Canadian author John Ralston Saul noted that ‘[R]eason is a narrow system swollen into an ideology. With time and power it has become a dogma, devoid of direction and disguised as disinterested inquiry. Like most religions, [it] presents itself as the solution to the problems it has created.’ Now whilst it’s reasonable (no pun intended) to assume our corporate media elites and those to whom they are most beholden would be reluctant to view themselves in any such light, from this writer’s vantage point, it seems like a pretty good ‘fit’ to me. Put another way, if this is truly what defines “reason” today, then we are ‘mos def’ in big trouble! http://clubof.info/

i’m finally back home in melbourne and now it’s time to talk about kcon australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (both days).
so, i had to fly in from melbourne to sydney for this, and i flew in on thursday (but landed at 6pm, so couldn’t do early check in unfortunately...i was told from other people that victon were actually there just walking around the arena and exploring sydney on thursday so damn).
day 1
it takes over an hour to get to the convention from where i was staying, so my friend and i didn’t get there until about 10:30am?? and the first thing we did was join the first queue we saw (which ended up being the convention line). it was kind of disorganised bc no one knew what we were all queuing up for, and then we realised after ten minutes of queuing OH WE HAVE TO CHECK IN (we were p1), so we went further down, found the check in tent and managed to get our wristbands and scratch cards. scratched everything for day 1 and i got: audience for sf9 and hi touch with pentagon (WHICH WAS WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR SO I WAS SO SO SO HAPPY OMG).
sf9 were first up, and we were actually almost late for it, but we got in and they were cute and INSEONG. inseong’s always been my bias, but he really solidified it this kcon. his english is great (which i knew already!!), and he talked so much and I LOVE HIM OK. I LOVE THAT BOY. so sf9 were cuties. stayed in the audience to watch hi touch after their little meet and greet thing (shout out to kevin!!!!!), and they looked so happy and i kept yelling inseong’s name like the fangirl i am. he’s beautiful.
SO after the sf9 artist engagement was victon’s so my friend and i got something to eat. once we did, i came back for pentagon’s hi touch and started queuing up at the exact time i was supposed to (12:15pm). there were already people in the line, so i got in and sat down for over an hour in the hot, hot sun and it well and truly sucked bc i could feel myself melting. not a fun time. BUT worth it when we finally got in bc i was right in front so i got a GREAT view of the boys.
they did their meet and greet thing (kino danced to the key dance point of ‘like this’), and then hi touch began!!!!! order: yan an, shinwon, yeo one, e’dawn, jinho, hui, kino, hongseok, yuto and wooseok. YAN AN, SHINWON AND HUI ARE LIKE SUPER SUPER BEAUTIFUL IRL I WAS IN A W E. yeo one is my bias so ofc i was a mess when i saw him. i also remember e’dawn and jinho pretty clearly?? maybe bc i had the most eye contact with them? everyone else is sort of a blur now bc it went by so fast (like all hi touches). all i could think about was that this was the first group that i ever stanned pre-debut!! and i still remember bawling my eyes out watching pentagon maker when shinwon was eliminated (even with the knowledge that he got into pentagon in the end but STILL I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HEARTBROKEN BY A ‘SURVIVAL SHOW’...even if it didn’t really end up being a survival show?? idk). so. I TOUCHED ALL THEIR HANDS IT WAS GREAT.
after that, i made my way inside the convention centre, and just stayed inside for like an hour or so bc it was too hot for me to even try to venture outside, but eventually i had to go out to line up for the red carpet, and when i went outside: MASSIVE LINE. it was 4:30pm :/ so of course, i lined up and then ended up making friends with the girl next to me (we were p1 left), and so at least i had someone to chill with for the next two hours of waiting in line (my friend didn’t go to red carpet, she only came in for the show). so lots more waiting until finally FINALLY we were let into red carpet. i was pretty much in the back, so i didn’t get to see much (esp when exo came out bc everyone lost it. lots of phones everywhere). and then we were (in a very, very disorganised manner) herded to the concert area, where there was more waiting, but i managed to find my original friend in the meantime!
eventually kevin came on to talk to us about hotels combined (the sponsor), and then cover dances, and it finally started. suho and sehun did some mcing and i cried. SUHO’S ENGLISH. MY HUSBAND. THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. so after them, first up was sf9!! they did: easy love, jungle game and fanfare. it was amazing (i was especially here for jungle game LOVED That dance). after them was pentagon. I LOST IT. my friend pushed me in front of her bc she knows i love them. they did: like this, can you feel it and gorilla. I WAS YELLING THEIR NAMES SO LOUD. oh, and kino did a solo dance at the beginning too. i think they did the piñata game?? but honestly, everything is a mess in my mind at this point, so i can’t remember for sure. after pentagon was victon! i don’t know them that well, but i’ve learnt all their names now (seungsik is soooooooooo cute ok THAT EYE SMILE). they did: unbelievable, blank and eyez eyez. i’m officially a fan now. then it was girl’s day!! i can’t believe i got to see girl’s day irl omg. minah is SO BEAUTIFUL. she came over to my section the most out of all the girls. i’m hyeri biased, but minah had a hold over me the whole time tbh. they did: i’ll be yours, something, expectation and ring my bell. I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE SOMETHING AND EXPECTATION IN THE FLESH IT WAS INCREDIBLE. and then of course it was exo’s turn and i was YELLING SO LOUD BC MY BOYS. i’ve literally never in my life been so starstruck by a group before bc they’re EXO. they were RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IN PERSON (minus d.o. and lay unfortunately though). i actually could have cried. i almost did. btw, chanyeol did a special stage of stay with me (from the goblin ost) with seola from wjsn and it was SO GREAT I LOVE THAT OST ONE OF MY FAVES ACTUALLY. ok so, exo performed: power, tender love, heaven, the eve and ko ko bop. I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT TO SEE THE EVE LIVE THAT DANCE IS EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE WORLD. suho came over to my section and looked in my direction and smiled and his eyes literally GLITTERED and i have never felt so flustered in my life i almost sobbed. i’m actually really, really happy that i got to see ko ko bop and power live too bc i love love love the dance to power and they always look like they’re having the time of their life when they perform it (esp kai and he was so smiley!!). and then, before i knew it, it was all over and they all came out and said their final goodbyes and i had to go home. i was so exhausted, but still ready for day 2 of course.
OH, special stages were: pentagon peforming got7′s hard carry, sf9 performing exo’s monster and victon performing bts’ fire!!
day 2
so day 2 i was all by my lonesome bc my friend only wanted to go to day 1 (bc she wasn’t too familiar with the day 2 acts), so i headed off on my own a bit later this time since i already knew who i’d pulled for audience engagements/hi touch: wjsn and up10tion for audience engagement and monsta x for hi touch!! i’m not too familiar with wjsn and up10tion so i didn’t end up going to their audience engagement (i was also really, really tired), but i rocked up to the arena at about 11:30am for the monsta x hi touch (i still can’t believe i pulled monsta x bc they were the ones i wanted the MOST). there was already a line there (even though the queue for up10tion was still lining up), so i quickly got in line and had to wait even longer than pentagon this time since i came so early (but i knew there were going to be A LOT of monsta x fans). this time i learnt my lesson and brought an umbrella though, so it was a lot more bearable at least. so i sat there in line chatting with the girl in front of me (it’s really easy to make friends at these conventions and i’m shy as hell) who was a big monbebe. eventually, we got in, and then it was slightly cooler and kevin came out again to introduce monsta x and i was pretty close to the front? like maybe second row, so i had a wonderful view of all of them once again. KIHYUN WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME I WEPT TEARS BC HE LOOKED IN MY DIRECTION AND SMILED. i’ve always been both wonho and kihyun biased, but i truly think that kihyun finally took the bias title for me (with wonho still at a close second) bc i honestly could not stop staring at that boy. jooheon did a rap and it was fire ofc. then hi touch started and i was FREAKING OUT. i was literally shaking so much. i’ve never been so nervous to do a hi touch before (and i’ve done a bunch of them), but monsta x has this effect over me idek. order: shownu, hyungwon, jooheon, wonho, i.m., kihyun and minhyuk. i just kept going HI SHOWNU HI HYUNGWON HI JOOHEON HI WONHO HI I.M HI KIHYUN HI MINHYUK bc i didn’t know what else to do or say. kihyun actually grasped my hand and i shook some more. he was so smiley!!!!!!!!! i don’t remember all that much of this hi touch, but def kihyun’s face. and minhyuk bc he was at the end and real cute too. and shownu bc i was hyping myself out since he was first haha.
so after hi touch i went to go grab some lunch, and chilled for about an hour before going back and then finding some of the friends i met yesterday. we ended up lining up for red carpet at about 4pm, since the line had already started, and we wanted to be in closer than before. so more hours lining up until we were finally, finally let in. unfortunately, wanna one didn’t do red carpet bc i heard their hi touch ran long or something? idk, so after red carpet, we were herded once again into the arena, but this time it was too fast and it was kind of like a mini stampede. it was kind of dangerous actually :/ but eventually we got to make out way inside, and this time i was actually a little closer to the stage, but bc of that it was more pushy. also wanna one fans were really energetic (hah). they were more crazy i feel than the day 1 fans at least, but again, maybe it was just bc i was closer to the stage this time? who knows.
anyway, so kevin comes out and does more ‘hotels combined’ talking, and then introduces the cover dances (which i feel were better than the day 1 ones. they did really good). and then inseong and rowoon did some mcing (which they also did yesterday), and jooheon and shownu did a special collab stage together. sf9 were up first again. this time they did: easy love, roar and fanfare. so instead of jungle game they did roar this time round. there was some ongoing theme of taking off their jackets that they seemed to start bc every other group kept doing it after them bc it was so hot haha. cue me screaming INSEONG some more bc INSEONG (also jaeyoon!!). after sf9 were up10tion. they did: runner, so dangerous and white night. again, i’m not that familiar with up10tion (i like wooshin but...he’s still getting better so he wasn’t there). sunyoul, hwanhee and jinhoo REALLY caught my eye though. and they’re songs were so good?????? why have i been sleeping on them. so yeah, they did their thing and were very, very cute. after up10tion was wjsn, and they did: happy, secret and catch me. i don’t know them that well either, but i do like secret (and the more than i listen to happy, the more that it grows on me). they also did a cover medley of kylie minogue’s locomotion and can’t get you out of my head (the girl next to me was a huge fan and burst into tears when she saw them). i don’t have a bias yet, but luda, exy, yeoreum and dawon though!!!!!!!!!! so, so beautiful omg. cheng xiao and bona weren’t there though :( then wanna one came out and the crowd went mad. as soon as energetic started, everyone had their phone up and i could barely see anything haha. they did: energetic, wanna be (my baby) and burn it up. they also did some talking in the middle and seongwoo literally came over to my section and sat down and did aegyo IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. jisung did too and all my vids of that are literally just me screaming JISUUUUUUNG at the top of my lungs bc MY FAVE OK MY FAVE BOY I ROOTED FOR HIM FROM THE START. minhyun also came over at one point and did his infamous dance and i’ve recently become a nu’est stan all over again so MORE SCREAMING FROME ME. and woojin came over and did a sexy dance legit right in front of me and i caught it on video it’s the most beautiful thing in the world i am #blessed. also, it was guanlin’s birthday so daehwi (bless that boy) brought it up off script and everyone sang happy birthday to him :’) it was so cute. so after wanna one and their little aegyo/sexy competition, it was monsta x’s turn. SO MUCH YELLING I WELL AND TRULY LOST MY VOICE. they performed: shine forever, beautiful, ex-girl, fighter and hero. I GOT TO SEE FIGHTER AND HERO IN PERSON MY TWO FAVE TITLE TRACKS FROM THEM!!!!!!!!! they did this thing where they proposed to this girl in the audience. i.m. said something cheesy haha, kihyun serenaded her (i survived that somehow), and then wonho. MY MAN WONHO. he went down to the crowd, gave her a heart, took her phone and took a selfie with her and hugged her. HIS FAN SERVICE IS NO JOKE. i know i’ve seen vids of their concerts and always known but actually seeing it live is something else entirely. my lightstick gave out halfway through their set too (prob bc it was too overwhelmed by monsta x as well haha). so yeah, anyway, they did hero and my phone ran out of space (luckily i had my ipod), and then it was over and everyone came out to say goodbye :( but monsta x were the only group to run to the end of the stage and bow again THEY’RE SO CUTE I LOVE MONSTA X SO MUCH I STAN THE RIGHT GROUP. i hope, hope, hope they come back down to australia again at some point (they were saying they would!!) and this time to melbourne too bc i would do just about anything to get to see them again. i love them :’)
conclusion
i am sooooooo tired still. and sore. i had to wake up the next morning at 4:30am bc i had a flight back to melbourne at 7am, and it’s great to be back home, but at the same time the post concert depression is so, so real, and i’ve hyped this up for so long that now i’m like what do i do?? what to look forward to now?? no, but really, it was such a wonderful experience, and i really hope that they do kcon australia again next year (this time in melbourne PLEASE I’M POOR). it’s kind of funny bc most of the people i met there weren’t actually from sydney (most were interstate, and there were a lot of melburnians there interestingly enough). but either way, it was kind of awesome that we all came together for this experience, and it was super, super easy to strike up conversations with people, so if you ever go alone, don’t be afraid to do it bc you’re bound to find someone you can latch onto and hang out with even if you’re introverted. also, make sure to dress appropriately (esp if it’s hot: wear sunscreen!! and bring an umbrella). i hate how they kept making us throw out our water to get into the convention/meet and greet centres when it was so important for us to stay hydrated :/ but anyway, that’s enough from me. i’m sorry this is long. if you got to the end, HOW?? it was so much fun and despite the hot sun and the waiting around for hours, i’d do it all over again :D
