In truth, Keith’s been thinking a LOT about Lance lately. His smile, his laugh, his INFURIATING attitude and the fact he’s somehow managed to charm Keith with it without even TRYING.

            For the past few months Keith’s tried to IGNORE             the feelings stirring in his chest, but each time he             thinks he’s come CLOSE to getting rid of them,             Lance does something all over again to make             Keith’s heart FLIP.

                        Shiro, of course, advised NUMEROUS times to just                          say something, keith, i think you’ll be surprised…

       and each time Keith shot that idea DOWN.

—Except now his feelings are starting to become a BOTHER. It’s too late to try and DENY them, and he’s too far deep to try HIDE it… Shiro’s KNOWN, Pidge picked up on it, and he’s pretty sure Hunk’s starting to realize it…

                 so it’s only a matter of time before LANCE notices too, right?

     And THAT just won’t do— If the Blue Paladin’s going to find out, Keith wants it to be on HIS terms.

         SURE, rejection is INEVITABLE, but it’s not like he hasn’t          expected that from the start. It’ll STING, no doubt, and          there might even be some LAUGHING involved, but…

SO, picking himself up from where he’s been holed up in his room for the past two hours, Keith pads on out into the hall and heads down to Lance’s room, at where he knocks on the door, trying to swallow his NERVES—it fails, and the anxiety that nestles in his throat makes his voice soft, coming out a little APPREHENSIVELY.

hunk’s voice flitted in one ear & right out the other, repeating varied ( unwanted & unwarranted ) advice from throughout the past few weeks. he didn’t even NEED the advice, thank you, but despite the fact that he continually told himself he didn’t need them, didn’t want to even think about them, it didn’t change the fact that they were there, repeating again & again & even pidge’s far too knowing cackle making its appearance more than once.

his friends were the WORST.

but even worse than that? he hadn’t actually said anything to them & at this point, lance was pretty sure they were doing all of that just to get a rise out of him ---- much like the way he & keith goaded each other again & again & oh man he was NOT trying to think of keith!

but it wasn’t as if it was a new development; not that he would ever admit it. still, he could feel the smile pulling at his lips & he immediately rolled over, bringing his pillow into his arms & hugging it as if it were a stuffed animal.

he was so pathetic.

as soon as he heard the knocks & the accompanying voice, he immediately shot up, nearly tripping over his legs in his haste to get to his door. sure, he had the scanner near his bed to open the door, but honestly using the thing never even occured to him. he all but slammed his palm against the reader, grin wide & ------ oh.

                     “Dude, you don’t look so good. But, yeah -- sure?”

he stepped back, brows furrowing as he took in the red paladin’s expression. concern immediately dawning on him, he looked keith up & down, searching for any injuries or any clue as to why he was actually HERE in his ROOM & holy crow keith was in his ROOM!

any & all thought flew from his mind ( so did his concern, seeing that keith wasn’t actually HURT anywhere ) & he stared for a moment, blinking once, twice, three times. quick, where was hunk? he needs an immediate bro-extraction NOW!

he couldn’t believe it just hit him that the other was actually here & yeah, wow, no, he really needed to focus on KEITH instead of his mini-freak out right now. focus on keith & why he looked so.....nervous? no, that couldn’t be right. keith was unrelenting & steadfast, confident in every he did. there was no way he could be nervous, especially in front of lance, of all people.

so with an audible gulp, shoving down his own nerves ( holy crow! ) lance gave the other a grin, lips tilted & lopsided in all his bravado.

                          “What did you want to talk about? Everything okay?”
