As someone on the demi/biromantic spectrum having a soft ship like rg, made of mutual support and alternative love languages means a lot to me, despite people refusing to aknowledge all the lgbt+ people that see something in this relationship. I'm aromantic asexual and I see a lot of myself in both Ruby and Oscar. Oscar's adverse to physical contact and I have seen no sexual attraction from Ruby whatsoever.

Looking at the love languages of characters is one of my hobbies because society has this belief that physical touch is the universal love language and that having a sexual relationship is the end-all-be-all to having a healthy relationship, when it really... isn't.

So, I like to show the other love languages and show people that there are plenty of other ways to express your love towards people.

Ruby is demiromantic asexual and non-binary

Oscar is biromantic asexual and transmasc

Ruby has ADHD

Oscar has autism

Oscar playfully calls Ruby "crazy" in reference to the time he asked if she and Maria were crazy for trying to shoot a MISSILE at Cordo

Ruby playfully calls Oscar "farmhand" in reference to when she did it while complimenting him on landing the airship

Oscar 100% picked out his V6/V7/V8 outfit with Ruby in mind. You can see so much inspiration in his outfit from hers

When Oscar and Ruby somehow find themselves cooking for the crew, Oscar actually does the cooking while Ruby does the baking

Their joint attack name, when they get it, is called Harvest Moon

Oscar's aunt absolutely taught him to compliment a girl's eyes if he found them attractive, hence the, "You... have silver eyes" this is not a headcanon this is just canon /j

Oscar is touch-averse and really sensitive to loud noises, and when that flares up, Ruby will sit by his side in silence, either reading a book or watching the scenery

Whenever Ruby is being really stimmy, Oscar is always around to listen to her babble about her interests and bounce about

Oscar started collecting trinkets when he left the farm as a way to always remember that he was the one who decided to pick them up, and after he met Ruby, he subconsciously navigated towards collecting flowers/flowery things

Ruby always feels very warm when around Oscar

They always argue (playfully) over which hot beverage is the best; Oscar advocates for tea and Ruby advocates for coffee

Whenever Ruby is fiddling or fixing or polishing her weapon, Oscar will sit nearby and just listen to her work

When they both experience days where they're completely overstimulated from everything around them, they'll hide away somewhere and just listen to each other breathe

Oscar's aunt wasn't a very touchy-feely mushy person (they still love each other) so Oscar didn't really grow up with a lot of hugs (plus his touch-aversion and sensitivity made it hard) and Ruby was the first person he ever offered a hug to
