So in light of it being International Asexuality Day, I wanted to post a few panels from that time asexuality was discussing in Brimstone and Roses...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I remember when this episode came out, I was burned out and depressed as hell (the author's note is proof of that), but so relieved to finally be able to talk about asexuality and explore Laz's sexuality a little bit. It was just a very difficult thing to write for a multitude of reasons, but mainly I'm technically out to my family, really, about being Ace, and so discussing it on a large scale made me want to vomit.
I also wanted to try to keep the dialogue authentic and not a massive info dump, while playing up the fact that Bea is a big romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She might not have been fully accurate with her discussion of asexuality, and I know a few people disliked that I didn't use the "right" terminology for explaining asexuality. I'm sorry. Regardless, it meant a lot to write this episode, and I appreciate the support and love it got, especially among my fellow aces.
Tumblr media
Honestly, making this post still makes me anxious, and looking at the comments on that episode makes my heart race, but despite that, I'm still happy with this episode.
I'm sorry if I wasn't the most accurate, or if my definitions of asexuality stray from y'all's, but I was hoping the episode would be a launch-off pad for those who might resonate with Laz's confused feelings for people to do their own research, regardless of whether they believe they're asexual or otherwise, and I hope that it did help people with that.

This might be an unpopular option but even as an aroace I love valentine's day.
I love flowers and seeing them everywhere brings me joy, all the nice pink and red decorations are cute, and who doesn't like chocolate?
Sure, the hyper consumer capitalistic side of it sucks. But if couples are happy, good for them.
Also, is a nice time to remind myself that as an aro person I love myself and I'm not less for not needing / wanting a romantic relationship
And this might be a bit harsh but being bitter about being single or about other people being happy in a relationship while you are not seems kinda immature.
I get it if it comes from other aros since society tells us repeatedly that romantic love is the most important thing there is and we are kinda tired of that lie but when the allos complain about valentine's just because they are single makes me more mad than what I would like to admit

"Now that's one form of magic that's definitely not gonna work on me." (
"So many parts. Hardly used."
"Well, there we are then." "I can come?" (He says only AFTER Donna made it VERY clear, she's not interested in him in that way)
"I was gonna be with you forever." "I know" (is it normal to spend eternity with your bestie and both be allo?)
*Insert every instance where Rose and the Doctor hug after being on the brink of death instead of having a typical kiss like typical romance couples*
Also, the ENTIRE fourth season is two idiots in a QPR. Fight me

one of my personal highlights of the NPMD premier was during dirty girl watching all the asexuals in chat link arms and say "its ok we'll get through it together"

Remember.
Being aromantic is being queer.
Being asexual is being queer.
Being aroace is being queer.
Being demi-sexual, is being queer.
Being demi-romantic, is being queer.
Being polyamorous is being queer.
Being ambiamorous being queer.
We're all different, yes. But all together we're different from being heterosexual, heteromantic or mono. which can co-exist with being queer too! (Such as a ace/hetero)
If you don't agree, whatever. I'm not gonna attack you, but I'm not gonna interact with your excuses of, "Being queer is this, or that!"
They're part of the community.
Happy aromantic awareness week!! (Though, this post turned into a little more XD)

The further I go through life the more I realise that what I experience as someone being "attractive" is really just a response to me perceiving them as nice, and my brain then painting that niceness onto their face.
I'm like "but surely I find so and so cute" no, you just think they're nice. "But they have pretty eyes?" Yes, because the eyes are the window to the soul and their soul is nice. Kind. Friendly. If they did not seem nice, you would see the same eyes and be like "meh, eyeballs".
I am nicesexual.

I think there should be more asexual takes on Aziraphale/Crowley. In the book it mentions that angels (and subsequently demons) are sexless unless they really make an effort, which one can interpret through a gender lens and a sexuality lens. I see a lot of posts/fics/media about them hooking up as a way of making up/solidifying their relationship, and while that's perfectly fine and dandy, I have no issues with that, I wish there was more media with an emphasis on non-sexual intimacy being the change in their relationship. They've grown physically closer throughout s2, are starting to become more free with touch, as they individually grow closer to confessing. I think a kiss, a hand-hold, an intentional hand-hold or any other form of touch could be just as impactful in solidifying their relationship. Especially when combined with the conversations they so desperately need to have.
As an asexual person reading/watching Good Omens, I enjoyed understanding Aziraphale and Crowley through an asexual lens, and I hope to see more fan media that explores these characters and their relationship through that lens.

♥️💜💙 HAPPY PRIDE! 🖤🤍💜
A reminder that bi people in m/f relationships are still bi and are part of the queer community! Same with ace and aro people!
It’s frustrating being a bi creator with a bi story featuring a m/f lead. It doesn’t make my story an “auto success” and doesn’t protect me from rate bombing and hateful, bigoted comments, whether it be biphobic or fatphobic, or just downright racist.
I hope my platform will make good on their word to give queer creators a safer platform to post on.
In the meantime, show your favorite queer creators writing queer stories some love! We need the support and love from our audiences to keep our series afloat.
Anyway read Brimstone and Roses on WEBTOON!

So last week I got my friend to start Good Omens. She finished it last night and told me today that she hated it. I was like “?!??” This was because I had picked the show out specifically for her after she asked for a rec and tbh GO was PERFECT for her. I asked her why and she told me it was because of the “queer baiting.”
Obviously I was shocked; I mean, the WHOLE POINT of Aziraphale and Crowley’s somewhat ambiguous relationship is NOT because they wanna profit off of the queers in the audience without losing any potential homophobe viewers, or because they don’t wanna add representation.
It’s the exact OPPOSITE; They don’t show each other much PHYSICAL affection (hugging, kissing, sex, etc.), because it brings MORE representation to people with barely any (if at all). Asexual, Aromantic, Demirose, people and people in QPRs watched GO and finally felt SEEN.
Crowley LOVES Aziraphale. Aziraphale LOVES Crowley. Normal romantic/sexual/gendered standards do not apply to them, which honestly adds to the immense divinity that is this book/show/creation. All we NEED to know is that THEY. ARE. IN. LOVE. They care about one another in the deepest ways possible.
Avoiding socially constructed labels such as Gay, Bi, Ace, Demi, etc. DOES NOT ERASE any rep. For ANYONE. The ambiguity GIVES and ADDS rep for EVERYONE. Anyone can feel seen through these two.
They are in LOVE. That’s ALL that matters.

If I had a nickel for every time Steven Moffat gave a historically aroace male character from a legacy property a female love interest because he believes that, quote, "There would be no tension in [an aroace lead], no fun in that," despite the fact that even when he writes them those romances are the least interesting parts of the character, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
