Headcannon time

Personal headcannon that Spencer Reid is biromantic and asexual, personally I think he’s sex neutral. It’s definitely something he would struggle with at first especially since female UnSubs just LOVE to put their hands on him sometimes without his consent🙄🙃 but thats his own journey and even when he does start dating and being in a relationship (because he would only want a monogamous exclusive relationship, anything else is not for him.) Spencer has good days and bad days most days are good but sometimes he just wants to be in his own bubble and for no one to touch him.

Spencer would want to make his partner feel good no matter what so if his partner is “in the mood” then of course Spencer would be down. Growing up being socially awkward he didn’t get a lot of opportunities to date around so he’s still kind of shy when it comes to dating and relationships even asking to kiss his partner much less ask for sex but sometimes he manages to string out a sentence that sounds like he’s implying he wants to have sex, for Spencer it’s not only about making his partner feel good but a way of showing his love and affection for them.

He shows affection in other ways too, usually by spending time with them since the FBI obviously keeps him busy he doesn’t have a lot of free time. Spencer also likes to leave little gifts for them it could be a book they we’re talking about, jewellery if that applies (treats for a certain canine.) Spencer would be great at giving gifts and his partner would always appreciate the time and effort he took to making them feel loved.

His favourite thing to do though is snuggle MAN LOVES TO SNUGGLE. He would occasionally switch but he is a little spoon to a T, oh and if Spencer did just have sex they are going right to the bath to relax. There’s nothing Spencer loves more then to snuggle with his partner in the bath even if nothing happens or has happened he loves the intimacy. He will never get used to compliments though, his face will turn red every time.

okay so i saw a take on tiktok i'm pretty sure but idk the creator if u know what post i'm talkin abt lemme know lmao.

so the take was basically saying how the ace representation on heartbreak high wasnt great bc they never even actually said the word "asexual" or "ace" (there was definitely more to the post but i dont remember it, this is just the part i wanted to talk abt anyways)

so what i wanted to say abt that is that thats not true at all. in my very asexual opinion the representation is amazing !! the best i've personally ever seen !! (ik theres supposedly rlly good representation in bojack among others but i havent watched much else so)

how i like to view it is at the start of the series cash is in like the middle of his journey of discovering his asexuality, like he knows he doesnt enjoy sex and doesnt feel sexual attraction to anyone but hes still very insecure abt it and confused as to what that means for him, which is why he didnt tell darren. and by the end of the season hes practially figured it out, hes become a little more confident in his asexual identity which is evident by him being able to explain it well to darren, which shows hes probably rehearsed that conversation over and over in his mind, but still hasnt put a label on himself because hes still insecure in that identity and he probably feels like the only one in the world who feels like that. the other characters dont seem to know abt it all either so that probably makes him feel even more insecure and alone abt it.

which is why the word "asexual" or "ace" hasnt been said yet, because hes not there in his journey. but i feel we will definitely get that next season !! (if we get one 🤞🤞) next season i feel will dive even deeper into what a relationship between darren (a very sexual person learning to be in a relationship without sex or not a purely sexual relationship, which is not what they're used to at all) and cash (who still hasnt fully figured out this part of himself yet) and we'll most likely get him confirming he's asexual using the label on screen !!!!!

anyways thats my take on this aspect of the show, please watch heartbreak high !!!! the queer, neurodivergent and aboriginal respresentation is pretty much flawless imo !! (idk as much abt the aboriginal rep as i am irish and white but i've seen the actors who play malakai n missy saying its pretty accurate n i've seen aboriginal ppl online saying its good n it seems rlly good to me so !!) its also rlly funny and dives well into important topics !!!

"Of course I trust you." Spencer frowns. "Why would you think I don't trust you? Just because I don't feel comfortable talking about my sexuality with you? That's private, Morgan. It's really none of your business."

"I just don't want you to feel like you can't tell me things."

"I know I can tell you things. I do trust you. And if there are things I feel comfortable telling you, I'll tell you. But until now, this hasn't been one of them. You've got to stop taking it so personally. I have complicated feelings about my sexuality, and I don't really like talking about it. That's my right."

"I know," Morgan sighs. "But I could've been trying to set you up with guys and girls this whole time, if I'd known."

"I'd rather you didn't try to set me up with anyone," Spencer says pointedly. "I can handle my own romantic life."

"Why don't you want my help?"

Spencer folds his arms across his chest. "I told you, my sexuality is complicated. Bi doesn't cover it all. And being set up with random people isn't what I'm looking for. I can take care of myself."

"I don't understand what makes it more complicated..."

"That sounds like a you problem," Spencer says, but later that afternoon Morgan receives an e-mail with a link to AVEN and some articles about the asexuality spectrum. Morgan dutifully reads through all of them and then shoots Spencer an e-mail back:

If you ever want to talk more about it, I'm here. Not because I feel entitled to your business - because I'm your friend and I'm here for you. If you don't feel comfortable talking to me about it, that's fine, too. Love you, pretty boy.
