What about mirrorverse Cashe just switching places. Ashe ends up with Overwatch and Cassidy is left to rot in jail until he gets out and takes over the Deadlock Gang?

You do not know how much I've thought about these two in this universe. Cause holy shit would the betrayal hit harder.

Mostly because Ashe's home life wouldn't change, her parents would still be neglectful assholes, the difference would be that unlike with cannon, Ashe would still care what they think. Basically if we switch Ashe's morals we would get an Ashe who betrayed Cassidy and the other Deadlocks for her parents approval.

This would also be an Ashe who would join Overwatch out of guilt, because she realises that she traded what could have been her real family for a dream. So she would use her weapon knowledge and connections to help Overwatch.

To help the types of people she damned when she was a kid, maybe this way she can make up for it. This Ashe would be riddled with regret, she will always be confident but a part of her holds her back, never wanting that leader position to fall on her shoulders again because she's now seen what her decisions can lead to.

Meanwhile Cassidy would be left to rot with his worst traits. He knew he would end up in jail, knew the world delt him a shitty hand, but the hand he did get dealt could at least be useful. So he uses his age to his advantage, a sob story here, a quick and easy smile there and he's out.

And of course he gets the other Deadlock members out, they have their uses and at least this way they feel indebted to him. So he becomes the charming leader of the Deadlock gang, a gang that looks small but has an immeasurable amount of unseen influence in the gangs of the south-west.

And shortly after he gets an offer he can't refuse, training by one of the best snipers in the world and by one of the biggest leaders of Talon. So he leaves Deadlock and moves onto bigger and greater things.

And eventually, despite his better judgement, he starts to trust the people he works with. But just like with Ashe they all leave him in the dust, Reyes has a "change of heart", Genji runs the first chance he gets, Moira was never on their side to begin with, and Ana tries to kill Fareeha.

The only person who ends up staying is Angela, the person who joined just around the same time he did, and unlike the others she has a plan. A plan that Cassidy can easily get behind. A plan that Cassidy can easily play his role in.

Because Angela has never been that charismatic, and every good organisation needs a face.

It was getting late. Worryingly so. They should’ve been back by now, they promised to be back by 12 at the latest…It was 2 AM now. Sure, they could handle themselves but the rare occasions when they would come back bloodied and bruised - it always left you shaking like a leaf. What if they weren’t so lucky next time?

Each second passing sent you further into your spiral. Your eyes flickered to the front door then to the large windows that taunted you with the empty driveway. 

Your mind was racing from tragedy after tragedy and it was quickly becoming too much to handle. It felt like the world was closing in on you, your body shutting down. 

Breathing became a task, each breath set your lungs ablaze - the pressure on your chest was suffocating. Your heartbeat was erratic. A quick, unstable drumming, pumped and echoed in your head. Dull nails bite into the palm of your hand, creating crimson crescents.

Your head was spinning. 

You couldn’t breathe. 

You needed help.

You needed Ashe and Amélie.

That’s when you felt it, or well, them. Cold lips against your sweaty forehead and warm hands squeezing your hips. 

“Breathe, mon amour”

Your eyes snap open, frantically searching for their faces and when you’re met with Ashe’s crimson eyes - everything feels right again. You throw yourself into the cowgirl. Her raspy chuckle tickles your ear and you dig your nails into her back like she’s water slipping through your fingertips. 

Hot tears burn down your cheeks, wetting her bloodied button up. Sobs wrack your body and you shudder as a cold body presses against your back, blue arms slithering around your waist. 

“It’s okay darlin’, that’s it. Take deep breaths for me”

Ashe gently pries one of your sweaty hands away from her back and places it onto her chest - letting you feel the steady rise and fall from her breaths. Once the initial panic washes away you shove her back from you with a teary pout.

“Where were you!? You're all bloody! Are you hurt??”

“Who’s to say it’s our blood?”

Amélie purrs into your ear, her tone light. You let out a sharp huff at her teasing but you settle further back against her cool body. Ashe leans forward to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear. Her signature red lipstick smudged at the corner and you reach up to wipe it clean with your thumb - she smiles and gazes down adoringly at you.

“Such a sweet little doll, aren’t ya?”

“I was worried sick!”

“We’re sorry, chérie. Someone forgot to put gas in her motorcycle.”

Sharp golden eyes glare at the cowgirl and she just rolls her eyes.

“If you hadn’t wasted all of our time fussin’ over those damn wines, I would’ve remembered!”

Before they can get too far into their bickering, you swiftly stand up and shove their faces together.

“Shut up, you guys owe me so kiss and make up. We were supposed to binge that new show that came out!”

You turn to grab the remote to Ashe’s oversized TV but when you shift your gaze back to them - they seem to be getting a bit…Carried away with the kiss. Your eyes roll instinctively and you flop back against the couch but you can’t help but grin at their antics. 

They move to cuddle up to you but you kick them away before either of them can make contact with the couch.

“Nuh uh! You’re both filthy! Go take a shower then we can watch cuddle”

Ashe smiles devilishly and jumps onto you, smothering your face in her dirty shirt giving you a face full of tits.

“Guess you gotta join us now, buttercup”

I remembered once again a certain voiceline between Ashe and Lifeweaver (Niran) since I decided to listen to a few of Lifeweaver interactions with a few heros and one of them was Ashe. The thing about them is that there almost similar, what they have common is that they have parental issue's like major parental issues I must say. 1 .) They both grew up unhappy with rich parents and got everything they wanted than something happens to them 2.) The both of them became criminals/wanted 3. )They want nothing to do with their parents or anyone of that factor. 4.) Both got cut off by their families wealth. Ashe also has a soft spot for Lifeweaver too, since she was talking to him about his parents though Lifeweaver explains to her he wish they would just give up on him. (even though his parents are helping him out) It pretty much stung Ashe since that's what her parents did by giving up on her. She wants him to have a chance at having a loving relationship with his parents since she never really gotten that. Though she doesn't know the full context of why he want his parents to give up on him. I really like their dynamic since usually Ashe has a fiery personality when people talk to her but when it comes to Lifeweaver she sympathises with him. She won't pry him for details on why he wants his parents to give up on him but she's giving him a warning ahead of time to be careful with that statement since it might come true.

She has no idea but the idea for that being Lifeweaver parents don't want him ending up in jail or hurt. Even though their trying to force his hand to give his biolight too Vishkar so he can come home, even though he knows that his answer to that is a simple no. I might write a small little prompt about this later on but it just reminded me of that voice line between Ashe and Lifeweaver. But yeah I just noticed that and thought it was very odd that both Ashe and Lifeweaver are very different but also somewhat similar as well.
