Okay okay okay, so both of the Caswell Cousins do the yell-talking about everything being okay when they panic.

IMAGINE if they let Ashlyn crush on Gina while EJ's worried about Rina. EJ and Ashlyn would just be yelling at each other at the top of their lungs:

A: "Why would I have seen your girlfriend! She's YOUR girlfriend, why would she be with anybody else?!"

EJ: "Yeah but it's fine if she is with someone else! We are in a very trusting relationship! I am not at all worried about her spending all of her time with someone else"

A: "Yeah cause even if she is spending all her time with someone else that person would not get a crush on her! Because she likes YOU and everyone here knows and respects that!"

EJ: "Yes our friend group is VERY reliable and I trust everyone here implicitly not to try to come between my relationship with Gina"

A: "Plus, Why would anyone try to get between your relationship when they know that Gina would NEVER like them back! Because you two love each other SO much and your relationship is SO strong and everyone here knows that!"

EJ: "I know! Our relationship is like a TRIANGLE it's so strong!"

A: "Your relationship is SO STRONG!"

and Carlos and Kourtney are just watching them like "are they arguing or?"

There’s so much I liked about the HSMTMTS finale, but ending the show with the cast just going to Denny’s after opening night was such a perfect ending.

It’s the way so many people dismiss HSMTMTS because is from Disney Plus and they associate it to being a kids show and not as deep as the other teen shows out there and it couldn’t be more untrue. The characters are better written and have a more reliable personality than most of the teen shows making the rounds right now that people believe is actual television. Not just the ships are better and are delivering more representation and buzz than Netflix or Amazon combined but the actors from this show are so insanely talented and know how to handle both emotional and comedic beats flawlessly. And the performances are clearing a lot of people from those shows. Put respect on their name.

Let's talk about the car scene and the introduction of the Rina cue. The chemistry in Josh and Sofia's performances is powerful enough to really draw the audience into that scene, but the Rina cue is what makes it magical on a whole new level (this scene is the truest example of Disney magic in this season, imo). It starts gently, nearly inaudible, and softly builds as Gina clarifies to Ricky (and herself, really) that she truly meant that he brings something special to the theater space. Then it enters the primary melody when she kisses his cheek, highlighting the unexpected yet tender nature of her doing so. Finally, the countermelody takes over, slowly releasing the musical tension as Ricky slowly processes what just happened. This music strongly communicates that something really unexpected, really sincere, and really special just happened.

I remember watching this scene for the first time in 2019 and being shocked that I hadn't heard that music used in the show yet, since it was the most beautiful piece of the score. I was intentionally listening for it to show up again for the rest of the season, only for it to be used once more in S1 in another scene between Ricky and Gina. I thought that choice was peculiar at the time, since there was another ship that was the "main ship" of that season.... so why would the most beautiful and tender leitmotif only be used twice, and why would it only be used in scenes between Ricky and Gina? Well, we now know why it's both so beautiful and only used for Rina scenes! It was literally written with more intention and for Ricky and Gina per Tim's instruction.

Also, that this scene finishes out the episode really maintains the poignancy of that scene. There were two other major couples introduced in this episode (MikeJenn and Seblos), yet Ricky and Gina were the ones who finished out the episode. The real cliffhanger of the episode is the voicemail from Principal Gutierrez, so that scene could have concluded the episode instead and been swapped with the final car scene.... that's actually a very common story structure on this show, which is why it's so unique that the episode ends with something more sincere and emotionally resonant. I really think that narrative choice shows that there's a shift in this scene. Something really meaningful just happened, and the audience is allowed to really feel it and understand it as something deeper than just a narrative thread to create drama.

I do think Tim’s decision to wrap up the show was a good decision especially with the strikes happening at the moment. However, I feel like there was still so much more stories to tell with the characters and so much more that they could have done if we got another season.

Some things I wished we could have seen this season and if we got a season 5:

A prom episode: I would’ve loved to see how rina, madlyn, seblos asked each other to prom. I feel like prom episodes always bring some sort of drama as well so that would be interesting to see how that played out!

More focus on Ricky’s future: I wish we got more of a focus on Ricky deciding what he wanted to do in the future. We did get a little in season 4 but i felt like it was a bit rushed. I was really happy with how they handled Kourtney’s college storyline this season though!

Kourtney and Jet: I understand this season has already so much going on so it was hard to flesh out Jetney but if we did get a season 5, I would’ve loved to see them more and their dynamic.

Boys and Back and Just Wanna Be With You: I feel ROBBED !! I wish we could’ve gotten these performances this season. I feel like they had plans to preform them but because of time constraints they couldn’t. Also Jet mentions the place he felt the happiest was preforming the Boys and Back with Ricky, it would’ve been nice to see the moment he told he realised that and not just have it told to us.

Emmy: if we got a season 5, I would’ve loved for us to learn more about Emmy. She was so funny this season !!

Maddox and Jet: same as the last point. As Maddox said in episode 406 they just got here and I wish we could’ve learned more about the both of them and even regarding Jet why did he get expelled? How’s their home life?

I loved season four so so so much!! I believe they wrapped it up the best they could as well! I just want more of the wildcats on my screen. I hope we get a movie/spin-off or something !!
