asian-ifying the batfamily with technically-not-quite-canon evidence but it makes enough sense in my head:

dick is half romani/half white, and it sounds like romani people are considered indo-aryan, and come primarily from india but also any of the surrounding countries in that area, so we’re good here

BUT, to be extra, i’m also heavily leaning into the wfa live action that got cancelled, where dick was going to be played by yoshi sudarso (indonesian), who i love. AND dick’s voice actor in gotham knights is christopher sean, who’s mixed japanese/white

basically what i’m saying is that the dick in my head deserves to be a poc at this point

cass is already canonically chinese/white

damian is also already canonically arab/chinese/white

jason, though he is canonically fully white, before finding out his biological mother was sheila haywood, both he and bruce briefly consider lady shiva (for some reason). so. he must at least look to be mixed race for it to be a genuine possibility

also his va in gotham knights is chinese (stephen oyoung)

for tim, i am still living in the era when ryan potter made a video to campaign to be tim drake for ben affleck’s batman. it didn’t work, they didn’t want a robin for those movies, but from then on he became the tim drake in my heart

though in titans (which i haven’t actually watched), it looks like his character is blasian? (jay lycurgo) so i’m here for that too, tim is just meant to be mixed race <3

Wow, I’m reading reviews for a book I’m trying to read, and I’m appalled that so many people have a problem with a male author writing a sapphic main character. Damn, get your fucking head out of the sand.

Just got done watching Nimona and it honestly blows away a lot of animated films created by bigger studios like Disney or Dreamworks. It’s unabashedly queer, heartfelt, gripping, and deeply relatable. I can’t believe it was almost cancelled forever because if it was, we would’ve missed out on such a beautiful gem.

I had a bad feeling about Blue Eye Samurai just for its title alone but then later learning it's creators are z*onists confirmed it for me. But also literally what is with White people and their weird orientalism & obsession with light eyed or mixed Asian people...

#of course he also was involved with famously orientalist Blade Runner #i learned my lesson about White men writing stories about blue eyed Japanese girls from Arthur Golden. i knew it was bad news #the main character isn't even good at combat because she trains hard or anything shes just naturally able to copy movements #and essentially because shes half white & spends the whole series embarassing the main Japanese dude side character #who would likely be just as good or better at fighting than her #and this just reminds me of white feminism's obsession of girlbossifying their white female characters #by having them brutalize and embarrass men of color (usually & very often Asian men for some reason??)

something weird about how they handled jordan li’s character is, despite the fact that the show hired two wasian actors, it’s never brought up that they’re half white. like it’d be one thing if they hired one asian actor and one wasian actor that still slightly resembled each other, if that’s who played the part best. but they got two wasian actors (of different races, but that’s expected in hollywood atp) for this role.

they explicitly call jordan “asian” on at least two occasions — which obviously you can, but when they look as mixed as they do, it also makes sense to acknowledge their whiteness as well — and then they cast two clearly fully asian parents for them too

my (asian) dad and i watched ep 3 together and we both paused when the parents showed up, like “????” are we pretending jordan is fully asian when they look the way they do?

the Poppy War is a book that is somehow historical, historical fiction, and high fantasy, while also being both adult and young adult, yet the most important genre you should actually warn people about before they read it (grimdark) isn't on the list unless you click through to a separate page and comb through dozens of tags
