So I got myself the zojirushi rice cooker for my birthday the other month, right?
Roommates and I are learning that it shames you, because the timer shows how long it's been holding on warming since the cook cycle finished. So when it says 71hrs you know you forgot your rice for damn near 3 days. It'll still be moist and not dried out like with cheaper rice cookers, but the Zojirushi knows your rice-related sins and it's keeping count.
me: wouldn’t the world be a quieter place if i just didn’t argue and engage in discourse meaninglessly :)
me: *seeing people deny the existence of dark skinned asians and mixed people, thinking all asian people have to look how they think asians should look and having this colourist and racist misconception of asian people as a whole* maybe i’m allowed to be a lil loud :)
like almost 2 weeks ago we were talking about grades so i said 'my dad is like a stereotypical asian' and someone asked if i was asian and after i said yes she said 'that makes so much sense' and i just want to know what she meant by that.
i'm so sick of being judged. asian culture is so ruthless, i feel like an outsider all the time. i'm never good enough, i'm never smart enough, i'm never skinny enough, i'm never pretty enough. i just want to be accepted and envied.
Put a finger down if there's an Asian kid at your school gatekeeping being Asian and his qualifications of being Asian don't include you (second gen immigrant from Korea) but do include a white kid who actually did point that out
Some of the requirements:
Be a citizen of the Asian country in question
Speak that language fluently
Be born in that country
I don't meet any of those requirements, but do you know who does??
There's a white kid, who we both know, who happened to witness this going down. He has
Dual citizenship
Speaks that language fluently
Was born in that country
Me, with my grandfather who was born in North Korea, who fled with his mother to South Korea where he met my grandmother, they had two kids and then came to Korea with them, the younger of the two being my dad, who then married my mom and they had me.
I am not Asian??
But this cracker is??
And he said as much, he was like, "I'm not Asian. I am very white."
And the guy was like, "Well, obviously you're not Asian, what do you mean?"
And he was like, "By your definition I am."
And so the guy who was gatekeeping included the definition of being Asian to include
