You know I'm weak for historical shit 😩 How about the Siege of Fredriksten in 1718?

The siege was carried out by Swedish forces at a fortress in the south of Norway, in a city bordering Sweden. It took place during the Great Northern War where Denmark-Norway and Sweden fought against each other and Sweden made many plays at Norwegian territory. Norwegian forces held a stand at Fredriksten fortress and resisted several Swedish attacks and an army of 40.000 men through 24 days when the siege was called off after the Swedish King was killed by a shot to the head while inspecting his troops. This event was also the cause of huge Swedish losses in central Norway where another invading army was forced to turn around after the death of the King, freezing to death in the Norwegian mountains.

who is blade and what have they translated

Oh boy.

He's translated some really old GG stuff, like the Night of Knives drama CDs, and helped edit/compile some old lore documents for the early pre-wiki English Guilty Gear community. I don't have a full list of everything that he's worked on, the NoK translation's the only one I have in my archives (it's the only translation of it).

I don't want to get wrapped up in this so long story short the guy's racist and trans/homophobic and has a track record of bending the canon to fit his view of it. Just avoid him.

Never have I ever: interactive fiction? (or tell us about video game fic if that's more interesting!)

I've never successfully written anything interactive, but I've always been enamored with the idea. For a while I was scripting a Metal Gear Solid fangame where Snake and Otacon argue about which Evangelion girl is the best girl, Rei or Asuka. Depending on which you the player choose determines whether you would play from the perspective of Snake or Otacon. There would be four endings: one where you managed to move from talking about anime characters to opening up about your emotional vulnerabilities and grow closer as partners and maybe kiss; one where Snake won the argument and Otacon felt kinda bad; one where Otacon won the argument and Snake felt kinda bad; and one where the argument gets so heated that Snake and Otacon break up Philanthropy, never talk to each other again, and Revolver Ocelot succeeds in nuking the world.

It was more ideas and dialogue notes than anything that ever got to any playable stage, though.

At the crossroads between wondering if it's worth it to basically completely rewrite all my WIPs or just take a break from writing for the rest of the summer

normally if i get new ideas i scream them at a friend to keep myself from writing them, and then hopefully they stick around long enough for me to finish my current story. this doesn't always work. if an idea clings particularly well i sometimes just have to give up and write it. if the screaming does work, i add the idea to the ever-increasing list and hope i get to it within the next ten years <3

very specific question i'm asking you here, but do you know if there is a bigger version of the symbol that is in the top right corner of the Strive loading screen, and what it is the symbol for because i can't seem to remember

Ok so we already talked about this a little in PMs a while ago but I got it in my head to make a rip of this thing anyway haha. The animation for this gets slightly offset with each loop so I had to try to force it into looping in a short amount of frames (27) or make it like 60+ frames for a smooth loop. Hopefully it's not too noticeable where it loops at but, if it is, maybe someone better at animating than I can clean it up lol This symbol doesn't mean anything in-game either, it's just a thing made up to let the user know the game's loading (I think we talked about that in PMs too...?)

I made one in the original grey and a black version too:

Anyone can use these for whatever they want btw or edit/resize them. I can make some other sizes too, if anyone needs them. These ones are 600x600px
