I don't know if you have talked about it or not, but how do you view sufin?

I do like SuFin as a pairing, but I haven't really done a deep dig into their history together to really give a good analysis of their relationship. I do prefer the ship with some underlying tension and complicated history they are very much aware of and acknowledge, but choose to look past. They have both good and bad days, and they both know this. Still, they very much care about each other, though neither of them are great at showing it.

What is your opinion on SuFin from a Swedish perspective?

I think I've talked about this in the past, but I don't mind going into it again with hopefully mentioning at least SOME things I haven't already mentioned.

Now, I should start with the fact I personally really like SuFin, but used to HATE the pairing in the past because how the fandom portrayed them both. Nowadays I mostly keep to my own corner and only really talk with a few people, so I've grown to love SuFin more based on canon and my own ideas for them.

To be honest I tend to focus more on the Hetalia characters as persons in general with a few historical references/trivia, but honestly, they have a lot of potential together.

Sweden is sweet and shy, but he has mischievous and rebellious sides as well. He also cares a lot about the people around him. (This can especially be seen with how he constantly defends Iceland and how he interacts with Sealand and Ladonia). Though his feelings for Finland is canon he also doesn't pressure Finland for an answer/feelings in return.

Meanwhile Finland is a caring and kind person, and he's not afraid of constantly standing up to people who finds Sweden intimidating. Finland is the person who constantly recognizes that while Sweden "looks scary", Sweden is also a very kind person.

Now, in canon, we actually don't know if Finland returns Sweden's romantic feelings, but it's obvious they still care a lot about each other a great deal.

With that said, if they became a couple I think it'd happen closer to modern time, and while I personally headcanon Finland loves Sweden back, I also think it took Finland a long time to decide if he even wanted a romantic relationship despite his own and Sweden's obvious feelings.

Now, I don't believe (hws) Sweden himself would ever do something to hurt (hws) Finland, but we also have to keep in mind the Swedish leadership and government haven't always been very kind to the Finnish people. Being in the Swedish Empire wasn't great for (irl) Finland - for a long time it was just better than being under one of the other countries in the area.

Anyway, at best there would be a weird power imbalance between (hws) Sweden and Finland if they had a romantic relationship somewhere between 1000-1900, even if Sweden himself never intends/intended for it - not to mention homosexuality wasn't even accepted or acknowledged at the time as something fairly common.

Most people hc Finland as Bi or Pan, so Finland could likely "pass" in the past by showing interest in women and ignoring any of his feelings towards non-binary people and/or men. But Sweden is canon homosexual, who only really have shown romantic interest for Finland in canon. It's more likely Sweden (tried to) bury his feelings deep, deep inside to not literally get killed by people for who he is.

Fans also (STILL) love to joke/bring up Sweden calling Finland his wife, but in canon Sweden only did it ONCE and then stopped when Finland protested against it. No matter what you think Sweden's reason was for calling Finland his wife, he stopped after Finland told him No.

I repeat, Sweden STOPPED.

He respects and respected Finland. Sweden listened when Finland said he didn't want to be called "wife".

So yes, I think they'd work really well together and have a sweet and loving relationship - but it would take a long time for them to make anything official.

We have a LOT canon moments between them. Everything from them adopting Hanatamago together, Sweden getting kids, to them constantly visiting each other, and Finland constantly defending Sweden from people who finds his looks intimidating - just to mention a few things.

Honestly, they'd probably be an "inofficial couple" for YEARS before they became official, but they'd get there eventually. Through both good and bad they've been there for each other for +1000 years at this point.

They're nations, and they can afford to take it slow.

I need help with my scandinavian names

I have som Ideas for names, but I want to run it through first. so Denmark I know (since I myself is Danish)

Denmark: Esben Ørnskjold Anderesen

Sweden: Berwald Oxenstierna (is Oxenstierna too rare, heart it was a noble name in sweden)

Norway : Lucas Falk (I changed his last name)

Iceland: Emil Gunnarsson (Since my research Steilsson doesn't show up for me as a valied Icelandic Surname... but Am I doing that worng? to my knowledge Icelandic surnames ends in -son for men and -dottir for females) Finland: Vieno Vainamoinen( called Tino by the rest. I am so unsure on Finland, since I don't understand Finnish at all and don't have anyone to help me understand. I just know Tino, might be Italian.)

Faroe Islands: Kasper Tórgarð (Kasper is mostly Danish I know)

hi rae, ily and i hope you feel better <3 and until then here's some wholesome headcanons for you:

-norway has dimples but you have to get a full smile out of him for them to be visible

-denmark is an amazing fkin baker and if one of the nordics' birthdays falls on a world meeting day he'll bake a bunch of cookies and pass them out to everyone at the meeting

-sweden unironically listens to kidzbop bc he used to play it for ladonia and sealand in the car and now he likes it more than they do

-there was a period where iceland didn't really know how to give gifts the usual way so he'd wrap up cool rocks and sticks he found outside to give people for christmas. he still does it sometimes like he always has a pocketful of cool stuff he found on the ground to hand out when a conversation hits an awkward silence and he doesn't know what to say

-the concept of fin speaking to people about his dog in such a way that they literally don't realize he means a dog and not a human daughter. and then he's offended when they finally meet her and are confused that she's a dog. like "what do you MEAN why did i buy hana a designer necklace she is my BABY."

-literally the only reason den wears his hair like that is to be taller than sve

Headcanon that Peter has an urban accent in Swedish bc when he first moved in with Sweden in the 70s, Sweden lived in Stockholm, and later in the 90s moved south. Bc Ladonia came around in the 90s he got more of a country accent in Swedish, but he has an urban accent in Danish. Peter doesn’t know Danish but he knows some Finnish.

The nordics as DnD, give me your input (I’m really big on DnD atm)

My DnD knowledge isn't the greatest, aaah. But if I had to choose classes for them, this is what I would probably pick:

Sweden: Warlock. I could see Sweden being just an average Fighter, who's skilled in combat and armor. But, if you want to spice things up he could be a warlock, so someone who has made a pact with an otherworldly being. That could be a neat way to explore why others perceive him as terrifying and why nobody trusts him

Iceland: Sorcerer. Hear me out; Iceland having great, unexplainable powers from some secret bloodline or gift just sounds too good to ignore. He could have some kind of powers that physically manifest in him. Maybe something related to ice and lava, y'know. But he's a baby - he can't control those powers, which is stressful and scary

Finland: Ranger (or Druid). It's a popular headcanon that he has an extraordinary aim, so maybe bow and arrow work for him in fantasy settings. Plus, traveling in the outskirts of society just sounds like something he'd do, hunting and protecting people from threats on the edges of civilization

Norway: Druid (or Ranger). Norway is definitely the toughest because I could see him in so many roles! It was so hard picking one class, but Druid is unique out of the bunch and makes sense. That class is focused on nature and animals, being extremely resilient, and focusing on magic. But also being kind of outcasts, keeping to themselves and guarding sacred sites or something. But I could see him swapping classes with Finland too; either one works for both of them!

Denmark: Barbarian. I mean, it's probably the most obvious of them all. Maybe a bit of a boring/over-used answer but hey, if it fits then it fits! Just give him an axe and he's practically a berserker

how do you think sweden is as a parent? any headcanons?

It's canon Sweden kind of spoils his kids quite a lot (with that I mainly mean Sealand and Ladonia, but to a degree this also includes Iceland). Not really spoiled in a bad way though? At any rate Sweden pays a lot of attention to his kids, constantly defends Iceland against Nor's and Den's teasing, and even pretends to lose wars against Ladonia. It's sweet, and I figure it's worth mentioning.

As far as headcanons go, this also means I headcanon Sweden as a pretty chill parent in general. As long as they don't endanger/hurt themselves or others, he allows them to do a pretty much what they want (within reason) - but he's still able to put his foot down if he thinks something is going too far.

With that said, if they want a tree house to hold their micronation meetings in? Then you'll be damn sure he's going to build a gigantic treehouse for them. If they're hungry they can usually just go and eat something from the kitchen - though Sweden likely has some rules about what they eat and when.

(Example: If dinner will be ready in 30 minutes they're probably allowed to eat a quick fruit like a banana, but not stuff themselves full on sandwiches. Sweden would probably also tell them to avoid sugary stuff like candy until after dinner, but as long as they don't overdo stuff he wouldn't be too strict on which days they decide to eat their candy).

For Sealand specifically I reckon Sweden & England have shared custody, and as a result Sealand technically has several rooms. (One in each house). To avoid Sealand having to choose between them on holidays they also make sure to celebrate major stuff together or alternate the days between them.

For an example Sealand's birthday is celebrated with everyone together. Meanwhile Sealand celebrates Christmas with the Nordics on the 23-24/12, then goes to that big party America is said to have (which probably is on the 25th), and then Sealand celebrates "Boxing Day" (26/12) with the "eyebrow family", NA-brothers and France.

They'd also have things they celebrate on their own, such as Sealand being with the "eyebrow family" to celebrate things like St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day and Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes). Then Sealand would be with Sweden and the Nordics to celebrate things like the June birthdays (Ladonia/Den/Swe), Midsummer and Lucia. Just to mention a few examples.

I'd say Sweden and England try to keep the days where Sealand spend his time time pretty even, but they also don't stand and count every minute to make it "fair". One year Sealand might spend a few days/weeks more with Sweden, and another year Sealand might be a little more with England. Living costs are similarly divided. For an example I imagine England was the one who bought Sealand a mobile phone when it became more necessary, but Sweden was the one who bought Sealand a tablet.

Sealand strikes me more as a boy longing for adventures. Sure, he enjoys to sit down and play games/watch TV from time to time, but he's also boy with endless energy. I can imagine him and Sweden doing stuff like going on hikes, building rafts to sail on the local lake - etc - as quality time when they're alone together. Sealand strikes me as someone who if they don't get to DO enough stuff in a day to run off some energy he'll have a hard time falling asleep in the evening.

Now, Ladonia spends pretty much all his time living with Sweden unless he's having a sleepover with a friend or one of his many uncles. As a micronation who nowadays mostly functions as an internet nation, Ladonia has a lot of the latest technology available to him (through Sweden) since he's also more dependent on them.

Because of this Sweden obviously also make sure the house their family lives in has excellent internet connection. Though Ladonia mainly uses his own laptop while moving/traveling around, I headcanon Ladonia also has a robust PC inside his bedroom ("home base" in a sense) and a back-up laptop that he SOMETIMES let's Sealand borrow if they want to play games together.

(At some point Sealand got to choose between getting a computer, laptop or a tablet from Sweden. He chose a tablet).

I've mentioned in earlier posts that I headcanon Ladonia as literally having been born looking like a newborn baby, and as a result of that I think Sweden is/was very protective of him. Obviously Sweden is also protective of Sealand, but it's on a much higher level for Ladonia after Sweden spent YEARS not sure if Ladonia would even survive or how much "nation" Ladonia was since he grew at roughly the same speed as a human for the first 3-5 years of his life. It wasn't until Ladonia's aging slowed down a bit that Sweden could start to breathe easier.

Ladonia also has a big canon interest in Pokémon, so it wouldn't surprise me if he has most of the consoles and Pokémon games. Heck, some of the Quality Time stuff Ladonia and Sweden do together alone is likely a lot of video game playing, and they might even go watch tournaments and regionals being played. Sweden likely even ask Japan for favours to get tickets for the World Championships. I reckon Ladonia would enjoy amusement parks too, so that's another one of the few things Sweden can use to "get Ladonia away from the screens" for a few hours if Ladonia isn't having friends over. xD

Originally I also wanted to write about Sweden and Iceland's relationship as a bonus, but this post is getting really long and I've already done a few posts with them before, so I think I will end here for now. xD
